haha the bellerin bit is absolute gold!

{Ed001's Note - it was funny as when Brundle asked him to move aside. He was not happy at all.}

Brilliant.

Wow TAA, what a lad he is, if only more were like this kid! he's going to be absolutely massive for Liverpool I think.

Cheers Ed, have a good one. Really liked your input more in that as well mate.

{Ed001's Note - I am growing to really like TAA. Cheers mate, it is just a case of finding the right balance now.}

Nice one ed and fair play to Coleman after a shocking season. Rake it in son.

{Ed001's Note - good luck to him, he never earnt the big money as a player so who can begrudge him getting some now? He is a nice guy, but he struggled badly once the 'do it for Speedo' motivation was no longer enough.}

Another good read ed thanks that was pure class by Martin Brundle so so funny
Up the pool.

{Ed001's Note - he honestly didn't realise what he had done until he got told later while commentating on the race. That is the best thing about it.}

Hi Ed,

Good read as always mate.

Although not directly mentioned in the article, I was just wondering what were your thoughts on Speed as a player?

His prime was in my younger days so I can’t remember him too well, I just remember him being a cracking header of the ball and someone who always put a shift in, especially for wales in a number of positions.

{Ed001's Note - excellent player mate, he read the game really well and was fantastic in the air. Really good professional too and a genuinely nice guy. He was really close friends with my uncle and he was generous to a fault. My uncle's house still has loads of framed Speed shirts everywhere, as he was happy to just give them to friends, charity etc. If I was writing about underrated players of all time, he would be right up there near the top of the list, he was a fantastic player. Good delivery from wide areas and range of passing too.}

Cheers Ed, much appreciated.

Even before tragedy struck, he was a legend with us Welsh fans. Always gave his all wherever we went and he played in some awful sides for us too.

{Ed001's Note - he deserves his legendary status totally.}

Guy I used to work with from Newcastle spoke very highly of Gary Speed. Said that whilst the likes of Bowyer, Bellamy and Jenas were out on the lash literally spitting on people they thought were below them you could always find Shearer, Speed and Given at a more classy establishment, happy to have a chat with any football fans.

{Ed001's Note - he was a good guy.}

Ed, with your uncle been close friends with him, did you ever meet him?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, caddied for him as well. He tried to give me Everton tickets as a thank you as he was playing for them at the time.}

You can tell he was a top bloke by the reaction after his loss, can't remember anyone who didn’t have good words for him. I have to admit this shook me up more than most even though I didn’t know him. Did meet him once at a amateur boxing event where his son was competing as was mine and he was exactly as people described him. Still gets me to his day!
