A question to ed001,not a transfer related question. just wanted your opinion.

Who do you think is better in their prime, buffon or neuer n why?

{Ed001's Note - Buffon was better at keeping the ball out of the net, as an actual keeper he was better. As a part of a team that plays high press and keeps the ball, Neuer is better.}

Who ed001 that you think you have seen in your lifetime that you can call the best ever?

{Ed001's Note - do you mean keepers only? If so I don't think the best ever lived in my lifetime, as I would have to say Lev Yashin is probably the best ever. The best of my lifetime would probably have to go to Neville Southall. If you mean overall players, then it would be Maradona.}

Ah Ed good shout, Lev Yashin, yes without a doubt the best ever GK. I too never saw him play live (im not that old! ) but I've seen clips and read a lot. Didn't he win the Ballon d'Or in 63 or am I thinking of somebody else? His reflexes were so quick, we have a few good keepers today in the world but nothing compared to that man and I doubt we'll ever see any keeper of that quality again.

{Ed001's Note - I think, from memory, he is the only goalkeeper to win it. My grandad used to rave about him and he did not often overly praise footballers. Sometimes when you watch clips it makes you wonder if he was speeded up, he moved so fast.}

Yeah you're right Ed I just looked it up, he was indeed the only GK ever to win it. I'm surprised the likes of Sepp Maier and Neville Southall and Zoff never did. It just goes to show how incredible he really was. I know what you mean, it's almost like some of the clips are on fast forward!

Interesting ed. to be honest I have never know about southall until you mention it. but that probably because I am on the young side n never watch him play.

Well lev yashin I read a lot about him. they said that he saves shot like he has extra six arm hence the black spider nickname.

Now that you mention it ed, do you have your own all time team? what formation n which player would you have in your all time team? well if you have time to list it anyway.
