And as England won- it can now be said without sounding like Sour Grapes.

All the officials in that game were absolutely shocking.

{Ed025's Note - very much so mate..

Anyone else think it was payback for the poisoning accusations against Russia?! It was like MMA on Kane!

Awful reffing, VAR pointless if it goes on in the box and nothing doing!

Can someone explain to me what the advantage of the current version of VAR is over a review based system?

Tonight England would have had two penalties if Kane had been allowed to call for a review (as Captain, not the fouled player) .

The current system is proving the technology works but the implementation sucks.

They were terrible but England are hated so we best get accustomed to it.
A blatant disregard by the VAR referee to intervene and request his on field colleague take another look at both challenges on Kane tells you all you need to know, in every other match they have done so, FIFA are a disgrace and I’m not really bothered about England but that is bent officiating and I abhor that as an honest referee.

sorry putney although i agree england should have had 2 penalties no player should be able to call for a review, even the captain. the rules they have given the officials are absolute stupid like no flagging tight offside calls Var will officiate them calls absolute nonsense, i don't approve of var i also don't approve the new offside rules go back to the original rule offside is offside, sorry i drift off topic, but like tonight if the decisions are not consistent there is no reason for it to be there.

Lol @ Kdfirst.

I think if Russia wanted to pay back the UK they wouldn’t waste their time with referees 😄.

I think the VAR system how it has been working this World Cup is nearly perfect. The one thing that could be added is as mentioned above a challenge system. One challenger per game, from the captain direct to the ref. However this can only work if refs are stronger and book players when they are encouraging refs to review. That ref in the England game yesterday was very weak.

{Ed001's Note - and needs to be speeded up.}

I’ll keep saying it, the crowd love the screens. It keeps the momentum of the game up. Need to get screens into the premier league and it’ll add to the spectacle.

Aoe, in tennis and cricket the crowd love watching the reviews on the screen, really gets them involved. I'd be all for that.
