i'd like us to sign Rubens Loftus Cheek if it's possible. i spent time down south last season and watched Palace half a dozen times - RLC was v impressive. Strong physically, looks after the ball really well and was really positive going forward . used to EPL aswell . good fit i reckon.

I like him but he's wouldn't be a first eleven player for us yet and I think he needs to be playing regularly at the moment. For his sake I hope he stays at Chelsea and is given a chance in their team.

Our midfield next season might well be Hendo, Fabinho, Keita, Wijnaldum, Milner, Ox, and Fekir (? )

Woodburn and Chirivella will probably go on loan but that leaves 7 players to fill 3 positions. 8 if you include Alexander-Arnold.

Where does Ruben Loftus-Cheek get game time competing with those lads? If he leaves Chelsea it will be for game time surely?

He would be great in midfield for us, with our pressing game and high intensity his energy power and pace would b a nice fit, he would b a great swap for emre can.

I have to be honest hailstones, pace and energy are not words I'd use to describe him. When he actually picks his head up he has a good passing range, and he is very direct. He looks so awkward moving with the ball though and his play is so laboured. It looks like he needs 3 or 4 touches on the ball to settle himself.

He'd bring all the same problems to the team that Emre Can brought in my opinion; lack of mobility, lack of intensity, and average end product. His finishing in particular is woeful. I'm baffled by all this gushing over him. Not saying you are wrong, because to be fair most of the media are on your side!

Everyone sees the game differently I guess. I just don't see Loftus-Cheek as an upgrade on what we have. We need players who get the ball down quickly and play fast paced football. RLC is the type of player to turn a defender 2 or 3 times before releasing the ball, and our counter pressing system is built on winning the ball back high up and hitting the opposition quickly whilst they are out of position. That is why Can and Lallana got in the way, and why I believe RLC would cause the same problems.

I will agree to disagree though. Not saying you're wrong, just that I see it differently 😉.

Emre can didn't bring problems at all he was a good strong player for us an we were just as good when he was in the team, I would rather have him than not, but he has gone so it doesn't matter . On loftus cheek he is a young talent who has attributes that will get better with age and experience I am not gushing over him as u say I just think he is a good option if we looking at a midfielder, just my opinion on him I think he will b a great player if he stays clear of injury as I think he might struggle with that . I really hope we stay clear of jack grealish I would have loftus cheek over him all day long .

Agree MK. I don’t see where he gets a game looking at those options. Good player, but one we can afford to pass on.

I haven't seen enough of rlc but what I've seen looks promising. But as mks says, we have a wealth of midfielders now. People are already wondering where Hendo, gini and aoc fit in with our new signings.

MK, you were a bit scathing of lallana in your post but I think he is a great player. People these days are judging him on last season which is wrong as he was never fully fit. The season before he was incredibly sharp and one of our best players before he ran out of steam in February.

Do you think (as I do) that we have seen the last of lallana and what are the positives of his game. You know I really appreciate your opinion mk.

I agree with you on Grealish. He isn't good enough for Everton, let alone Liverpool.

A few weeks ago I did say we were interested in Loftus Cheek, if he is available at a reasonable price I can definitely see us going in for him.

I like the look of RLC but I agree with MK over the comparison to Emre Can, maybe he can improve the chinks in his game over time like Can didn’t manage too.
If he was available for fairly cheap I would take a risk but after making the England squad and having a good 10 minutes he will probably be worth 50m now such is the market for English players and for me he isn’t worth that.

The club shop would make a fortune in shirt lettering, with RLC, AOC and TAA!

Milner not getting any younger, Ox coming back from a
serious injury, Winjaldum is incosistent at best and the new signings have no experience of the premier league - i very
much hope the new signings settle straight away and have a positive impact but that is not 100%.

Having watched RLC live a few times he was excellent in behind Zaha . quick on the ball, a good passer, and full of drive going forward. Decent.

He'd be a peripheral player at best. What's the point?

hello ed01, what is your take on Alisson Becker. Looking at Brazil's game against Serbia, he seems to have a mistake in him and at the price quoted, is he worth the effort.

{Ed001's Note - everybody has a mistake in them, it is part of being human, we make mistakes. He has the potential to be the best keeper in the world, someone can pull off saves that he has no right to make. He is well worth the effort.}
