No need for the correction Ed001, you got your description of Pepe right the first time round. I'm surprised Nagelsmann is leaving Hoffenheim for RB Leipzig. I thought he would wait it out at Hoffenheim for an even bigger opportunity, especially given the team he was building.

{Ed001's Note - they have a lot of money to build a team. Still seems a mistake to me.}

Cheers once again for the round up Ed001
I wonder what is must be like for Emre Can I have nothing bad to say against the lad, wish him well and hope more players who know they are leaving don't down tools and give up ala Coutinho but act like Can did.

{Ed001's Note - you can't fault him, but he hasn't half lucked in there! £14m!!!}

Cheers for that ed, I have to disagree with you about the Neil Lennon thing though- I love Celtic and you are right about the abuse he took from them but the celebration was a little unbecoming for any manager let alone Lennon, primarily for his history with them. I do however think had he celebrated against any other team, it wouldn’t have been much of an issue. Some things aren’t black and white. On the other story about Burger King, wow, how did nobody stop that idea along the way.

{Ed001's Note - no worries mate.}

Thanks Ed nice daily report. Very harsh on Lennon that. Game was up and down, he lost the plot a little bit but understandable. Emre, I’m good at one off bycle kicks, has lucked out big time. I think Fab will be better for us going forward.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

But he did down tools 🤔 he was absolutely shocking last season. Players were ghosting past him and he'd just throw his arms in the air at others. Not to mention his mystery injury which miraculously healed in time for him to play in the Champions League final.

I had no problem with his attitude in all of his previous seasons, but last year he had one good game against Man City, and coasted for the rest of the year. One thing I absolutely can't stand in players; laziness. Can's as guilty as they come, but he got his Karma anyway. His lack of effort made him look so average that he was dropped from the Germany squad.

Thanks Ed001.

Had a little chuckle at Burger King 😂.

{Ed001's Note - you have to wonder how that got passed.}

The Nagelsmann bit is a bit confusing imo. I was dead sure he would be Bayern boss in a few seasons. Guess that project's got to wait a while longer and Bayern will be counting on Kovac to keep them on top for the next 5 seasons at least if Nagelsmann is their ultimate aim (like Pep at City) .
Can has done really well for himself with the Juve deal. 14 million signing on fee and a guaranteed trophy at the end of the season. Can see why the lad wanted to leave.

I don't see how Can downed tools at all mate
in some games he was our best Midfielder
About his injury I feel that is very unfair as more then once the lad has played through the pain barrier and not complained once while others split a fingernail and cry off sick
you can fault Can for maybe lack of top class ability and goals but imo never for downing tools.

No worries John, it's just my opinion mate. I just didn't see the Emre Can that worked his socks off and helped get us top 4 in the 16/ 17 season, last year. He played one really good game against Man City when we won 4-3. He worked so hard that game that he had to leave the pitch about 75 minutes in with us leading 4-1.

After that game I thought maybe he was going to pull his finger out. He just didn't though, for me. He was ball watching, flitting in and out of games, throwing his arms around, not getting stuck in etc. It was really winding me up watching him. The worst game was in the 3-3 against Arsenal where he just could not be bothered at all. Even in the Champions League final, everyone is moaning about Karius for Blake's second goal, but Can had only been on the pitch for a few minutes and was less than 10 yards away. So why didn't he make any effort to close down the shot when everyone on planet earth knew what Bale was going to do? He just couldn't be bothered to break into a light run or put his body on the line.

I lost all respect for him over the course of last season. I will never forgive somebody for not giving the Liverpool shirt 100% and Can simply didn't in my opinion. Aside from last year though, he was a good servant so I can see why some still want to wish him well. I can see exactly why Klopp wasn't desperate to keep him though. I'm not a nice person and I don't sugar coat my opinions so I fully appreciate I'll wind some people up when I say, good riddance 😂.

Morning all. i thought the French team might have got a mention - from the rough end of Ed001's tongue?
They almost look like the perfect modern team with power, pace, height and skill everywhere.
I am not sure if I have ever seen a larger collection of Big Time Charlie's in all my life though!?

{Ed001's Note - I don't bother dealing with results in this as they are everywhere. The French are just badly managed.}

Dont me get wrong im happy he is gone and tbh wished moreno would follow with Matip but I wish him well and boy did he fleece Juve 14m wow but good luck to the lad.

Couldn’t really blame the ref for asking for Ronaldo's World Cup shirt. He’s been the worlds best for a number of years, he’s on track for the golden boot and it wouldn’t surprise me if Portugal won the World Cup. Its the sort of thing people show the grandkids.
And £14 million quid for Can! That’s got to be some kind of record for a free agent.
As always, thanks for the review ed.

{Ed001's Note - cheers NYR. I would just like to mention I am also a free agent if anyone has £14m going spare.}

Can started the season pretty well. scored early, a couple of beauties but he did seem to go missing eh, not sure if that was coz of the injury though.

I'll tell you, for 220.000 per week, if he doesn't hit the ground running the juve fans will get restless pretty quick. if he starts putting in lazy performances, it won't be tolerated. he has obviously grabbed the 220.000 pretty quick but it could be his undoing. I doubt it, he will probably do really well in seria a.

All in all he has been a fairly decent player for us for a number of years. he has certainly done more than score 1 over head kick and for that I will wish him good luck.

I still don't understand why we didn't sell him last summer though.

18.) 22 Jun 2018
22 Jun 2018 12:17:05
Can will star in serie a.
Disagree about him downing tools. He simply gets caught out a lot. which is why he was never the answer in defensive midfield for us. Where he is good is driving forward, but we, not to be rude to emre have kieta and Chamberlain to do that, and they are also better at pressing than can.
He never told us lies, he fulfilled his contract and did not demand a move. Good luck to him and seriously wish him the best as his choice was 14 million and star in the juventus team or sit on the bench unless lfc have injuries.

Dont think can downed tools at all in my opinion.

He doesn't come across as that type of player and in all the games i can remember i don't think the thought ever entered my head.

Dont think his injury was anything other than what it was. Anyone would try and get back for a champions league final even if they still aren't quite right.

He has certain flaws in his game sure but itallian league will prob suit him better.

All in all i think liverpool definately got their moneys worth out of him. Played quite a few positions and racked up a fair amount of games for someone still quite young.

Would like to see him do well and fulfill his potential and reach the top of his game. He is a likeable player.

Liverpool not getting any money for him is entirely their fault but these things happen.

I think he knew the midfield was going to be hard to get a start in next year with keita coming in. And now with fabinho there he was nailed on for the bench for the most part.

Sorry to see him go all in all.

I think anyone would find it hard saying no to 14 million. Havent herd what his wages are but im sure its at least double what he was on and def way higher than what he was offered to stay.

All the best emre in my opinion. The italian league now has the best haircut in football.

Wolverine, Watch the Ozil goal in the 3-3 draw against Arsenal and keep an eye on Emre Can.

Not seeing a player run off your shoulder? Annoying, but forgivable.

Seeing the run and literally watching the player go past you? Unacceptable.

Throwing your arms around and trying to blame the overloaded defence? Absolutely pathetic.

His entire season was littered with moments where he just could not be bothered. I can forgive a lack of ability but blaming your own lack of effort on others is disgraceful. That game was the final straw for me and he never earned back my respect. Not that he will give a damn about my respect from the inside of his new Lamborghini Aventador, whilst he counts out his £220k a week pay cheque 😂

I do agree that he'll be good in Serie A though. It'll suit him. As will Juventus's system. They managed to carry Pogba and give him the freedom to play how he wanted, and Can is a very similar player with his powerful running and shooting abilities, coupled with his poor positioining defensively. I wish him luck nonetheless because at the end of the day, we've got better players so there is no need for bitterness or I'll thoughts. I'm just not going to thank him after I feel he let us down.

I'm struggling to work out the economics of that deal. I can see how it's cheaper than buying a midfielder for £20-30m but he's still got to be worth the salary. There's no way he's worth £30m over four years.

£14 ed, your a cheap date then lol.

{Ed001's Note - I prefer to think of it as value for money.}
