Question for ed02

So doing the rounds on the Fekir stories is that LFC want the payments over the 5 year contract instead of one payment due to the medical concern.

What i don't understand is what is the difference? If we agree a fee surely we have to pay that even if he does have injuries during the time at Anfield its not like we can send him back with a reciept is it.

{Ed002's Note - It would not be over 5 years but Liverpool would certainly look to spread payments out. The difference is that the money does not all need to go out at the same time (like it largely did for VVD). The problem is that the club are spending future income. In the last set of published accounts, Liverpool spent £79M on payments for players purchased in previous years.}

would concern there Ed be LFC not qualifying for CL etc and therefore there projected income falling?

My major worry would be the development of a top-tier pan European league - the money would follow as it has done with the EPL and clubs who have based outgoings on future income, and are then not part of the Euro_league would suffer immensely.

{Ed002's Note - It is not a specific concern. The club has to balance the books and they need to cut back on the borrowing which has been creeping up.}
