There's been a lot of pressure put on Klopp and Liverpool now, with others saying Liverpool now have the best squad.
I would say we have the best squad we've had in ages, but I wouldn't say we have the best squad in the league. Its hard to say who has the best squad.
What Klopp has done, is manage to get a squad that's up there with the rest of the top four, for the 1st time in ages.

Utd, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea don't have a squad anywhere near as complete as ours. City have a great midfield/ attack, their defence is a shambles and Ederson isn't good enough.

We have a midfield to match Citys, our attack is better, our defence is more complete, they don't have the likes of TAA, Robbo and VVD. We have Alisson, a world class keeper.

Personally I'm going with us having the best squad in the league. I'm not expecting miracles overnight but I do think we'll have a very successful season with this team.

Liverpool -
Keeper - Check. Man Utd's keeper top man.
Defence - Check. Chelsea are very strong.
Midfield - Check (I wouldn't like to lose another at this point though) . All the sides are strong.
Attack - First choice is a check but I still don't think we've wholly solved the conundrum of Salah being unavailable, particularly if he were to be injured for a period? City's attack is stand-out for me.
Replacements - better than it has been for a good while but still a significant drop-off in quality, much more so than City, and possibly United and Chelsea.

Overall - definite top 4 but more vulnerable to one or two key injuries than rivals?
Is that fair?

the reality is, the pressure is valid, we have a very strong squad right now and if our season ends without a trophy, questions will be asked for sure.

Salah don't go over the top. We have a midfield to match City's? No we don't it is a long way off. Defence's they are about the same. We match there first 11 but their squad is still just ahead.

They smashed us by 25 points give them the respect their squad deserves. They have Aguero on the bench.

5.) 31 Jul 2018
31 Jul 2018 08:08:58
Hahaha mark, defence is about the same, you are joking, right? . Man Citys defence is absolute garbage mate and if you saw the teams who weren't afraid to attack them last season (not many) you'd know this, so I'm guessing you class our defence as garbage?

They do get my respect, they will always be up there (so they should) . Them been 25 points ahead last season is completely irrelevant, if you want to go into that, Leicester won the league the other year, again completely irrelevant but do they have a better squad then us?

6.) 31 Jul 2018
31 Jul 2018 08:27:25
How do they get 100 points with a poor keeper and defence? Mendy and Walker both probably get in our side. As do Silva, KDB, Sane, Kompany.

You say Silva and KDB and just about the best players in the world and now you say our midfield is as good, do me a favour.

No excuses, this is what the opposition fans laugh at us for. We have spent huge money and the pressure is warranted. It's Klopps 4th season, the owners have backed him to the hilt, he said he would deliver the title and he has been given the tools to do it. Top 4 is not what we should be happy with, with our squad and manager we should be pushing right till the last game to win our first Premier League title.

I don't know where you was last season mark but did you not realise the majority of teams didn't attack city? and did you realise the ones that did caused them a hell of a lot of problems?

They attacked teams and scored a shed load of goals, many teams last season were too afraid of attacking them because they knew full well City would destroy them on the attack. The teams who did go at them, THAT'S when we saw them crumble, their defence and GK are nowhere near quality, we didn't see it enough last season but we saw it enough to know they are weak at the back, very weak.

I can't believe you have just said Mendy would get in our squad lol I say no more.

Mcgoveb i get you're point mate. But what people fail to remember after 1 big summer spend in the market is. our rivals have been spending like this for last few years! City spent this kind of money rebuilding there defence alone! Next season at times they will have 2 or 3 £50-60M players on the bench. yes we are going in right direction and with bit more luck with injuries and if we stay consistent we can be right up there. But let's not fall into Jose and the media's hands and start putting extra pressure on the players and management as that's exactly what likes of Jose wants so focus is on us and the 2 Manchester clubs can get on with it with less pressure and focus placed on them.

10.) 31 Jul 2018
31 Jul 2018 09:04:20
Mendy was our first choice LB, or did you not know? How do you know how good he will be in the prem?

So it is all the other teams fault City got 100 points lol. Teams will not suddenly go to City and attack them, if you think that you are dreaming.

We will need over 90 points to win the league so we will need some luck and some players to step up. Firmino will have to improve his league form 14-15 goals won't cut it this year. Wandering around in midfield when we need a goal will not cut it.

11.) 31 Jul 2018
31 Jul 2018 09:11:14
I don't think I agree with you on any players you rate, you think Firmino is the world's best player. I don't think he is even in our top 3 or 4 players.

Emre Can you though was top class
Shaqiri you think will be terrible
Ederson isn't good enough - for what? To win the league by 20 points.

12.) 31 Jul 2018
31 Jul 2018 09:30:11
Let us not get carried away. To write off those teams before the season has started is ridiculous.
Salah mate, what is going to make city attack less this year? They will be the same threat as last year and calling Ederson crap is and man city's defence absolute garbage is just absurd.

We also need our new sightings to settle and adjust to the prem. We must know by now pre-season predictions mean nothing as anything can happen during the course of the season.

13.) 31 Jul 2018
31 Jul 2018 09:43:30
Salah was our 4th choice, what's your point mate?

When did I ever say Firmino was the worlds best player? please quote me. When did I ever say Can was was top class? again, please quote me. You're quite evidently making things up now to suit your own argument.

You obviously haven't watched Man City enough to realise how unreliable Ederson and their defence is so this so a pointless discussion. Come back when you know more mate instead of judging a gk/ defence on a league table.

14.) 31 Jul 2018
31 Jul 2018 09:45:59
I think Mendy will be obviously better than Robertson by the end of the season. I also think Man City got away with a hell of a lot last year because they built up a head of steam and scared other teams in to defeat. They played the vast majority of games in the opposition final third last year whereas playing just fractionally deeper would have given their defenders more to think about positionally and they would have been exposed far more often. Teams gave them too much respect and it played right into their hands. We, on the other hand, like teams to come on to us a bit more as it leaves the space behind to work in. City thrive on having all of the posession, so long as it is attacking posession where the pressure is not so great.

They are like bullies, to me. Most effective while they are on the attack. As soon as someone fights back, they don't know how to deal with it because it is not what they are used to, they turn cowardly and can more easily be gotten at. You have to show that you are not afraid over a sustained period though. It can't be done in dribs and drabs or else it doesn't change their overall mentality in a game.

15.) 31 Jul 2018
31 Jul 2018 10:52:15
Most teams can't afford to attack City as they are too good on the counter. Teams will play the same against City as they did last year. City are stronger this year than last, so I expect them to win the league.

Liverpool could have a chance at the league, but need players to settle quickly, no major injuries and another great season from our attack. I hope we challenge, but it will be difficult.

City have the best midfield in the league and top class attack. Our midfield may match city of they gel, but we can't say we are as good at the minute.

In defence, City don't have the best cbs and left back needs to get back to full fitness so not the best df in the world. But midfield is so strong it compensates for it. Barcelona did that for years. Walker is best rb in the league and ederson is a top keeper with great distribution. Fits perfectly for them. Hopefully Allison fits the same for us.

Let's see what happens in the games, but be positive and support the team. Exciting season ahead.

The system City play makes them vulnerable to attack at times but it doesn’t in any way make their defenders garbage. Sometimes sitting on the fence gives you a better view.

we are the best team on paper in premier league. We have a fantasy team like first team.

on a different note every one in this first team is a most expensive signing one time or the other if not home grown.
allisson- most expensive GK ever.
VVD- most exp defender ever
Lovren - most Exp CB for us before VVD.
Robbo- the only bargain. he is probs the most exp irish buy ever.
TAA- home grown.
Hendo- most exp mid for us when we bought him.
Keita- most exp mid for LFC now
fab- most exp DM ever (i think he was costlier than kante)
Salah- most exp RW for LFC.
firmino- Most expensive striker LFC have bought ever (after addons)
Mane - most expensive LW we have bought. was the club record signing at the time.

Whilst I'm very excited for the new season following the signings we've made, I think we can't get carried away into thinking we have the best squad. I expect a challenge this season but I would still have City's squad ahead of us. They have the experience and squad depth.

The players we signed are fantastic but as SL87 mentioned, we need them to settle. Arguably, bar Shaqiri, all players have come from weaker and less competitive leagues so it will be an adjustment.

And whilst I do think we may edge city in certain areas, its quite naive to outright suggest we are better than them in most areas. Midfield wise, in KDB/ Silva/ Fernandinho i think they're comfortable better than ours until ours can prove they're on that level.
In defence, i think we do edge them but wouldn't say city have a garbage defence. On a side note, teams don't attack them as City prevent most teams from playing by keeping the ball so well. i don't see that changing.

We certainly have the best attack but a key injury does leave us vulnerable, where City have a replacement for each key area in Aguero, Mahrez and Silva. We're dependent on Shaq and praying Sturridge finally rediscovers his form from 5 years ago.

Either way, exciting season ahead and we should get top 4 and challenge as a minimum. With a little luck on the injury front we could win it!

It’s not how much teams have the ball, but their starting position on the pitch. If you set your midfield and attack slightly higher, the opposition naturally sit slightly deeper and then, in city’s case, don’t have as many players available for every attack. If you camp just outside your own area then, with or without the ball, you invite more pressure. Also, with the ball you have to work much harder to create chances because you are so much further away from goal. It takes balls against a team of their quality, but a couple of dodgy results will put doubt in their minds too.

Mcgoveb is spot on, we should have aspirations of winning the league with this squad not top 4. We are so used to failure we don't want to believe, time for that to change.
