Any chance of a match review Ed001? always nice to get your insight into the game, time permitting.

{Ed001's Note - I did one, sorry it must not have generated the link automatically because it has been causing problems when the site tries to do so for me. That's why the review of the day link auto generates on a timer, rather than when I post it up.

Thanks for the review, Ed001.

Cannot agree with you about the red card. In no way is a simple free kick a just punishment for denying a goal-scoring opportunity of this kind through means of a foul. If it is in the penalty area, then perhaps a penalty and no red card would be fair. But Salah was through on goal with a chance to put the game to bed and was fouled. A free-kick, even just outside the area, is in no way comparable to a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Red card was perfectly justified.

Always great reads, though!

I have to agree with LoweLFC, I would feel a red is justified if it was the other way around. If the refs start letting a player get away with that, then that will become the way to stop players who are past the last defender, run just behind them so there heel touches you foot etc.

The team only concede a free kick and and yellow card when actually it is most likely that the player will score.

The penalty was correct, Sakho also had a handful of his shirt, which was completely overlooked by all of the commentators/ pundits on TV, again, if its the other way around, I would not be aggrieved. Do not give the ref a decision to make.

Yeah agreed. His reaction to the red says it all. No complaint. He knew what he was doing.

Good review ed clearly the team need time to gel new keeper stiffened up the defence and his distribution was first class full backs where suspect but crucial decisions where correct you are right about zaha who seems to get free kicks when he is the perpetrator looking forward to the coming months but klipperty must give up on llalana not productive enough.

{Ed001's Note - Zaha drives me mad, all he does is fall over, usually he is the one doing the fouling at the time as well!}

Thanks for the review, Ed. As a side issue, what do you think of Wan-Bissaka? I think he looks like he's going to be a player.

{Ed001's Note - come on in leaps and bounds and looks a really good young prospect. In fact, to be fair, he outshone Trent last night.}

Thanks for the review - agree Wan-Bissaka was their best player. I think it was definitely a sending off though. VVD and Allison our best players, but for once I thought Gini did a decent job no worse than Keita or Milner.

Spot on, Ed on the penalty. These Palace fans call Salah a cheat YET their golden boy Zaha, can't ever stay on his feet to save his own life and flops to the ground at every opportunity YET Salah is the diver. Go figure.

Also, Maybe the Palace fans and their hypocrite manager can tell us how many times their CB is allowed to kick the opposing player IN THE BOX before a pen should be awarded. Had Salah gone down after the first one then one can say, it was a dive. Sahko (that guy is getting MORE comical than ever) had two bites at him yet Salah stayed on his feet and after the second one, what is he supposed to do there? The fact that Oliver gave it w/ o anyone appealing for it shows it was a Pen.

Said exactly the same thing about wan-bissaka. Definitely one to keep an eye on for the future.

As for the pen, Sakho unlawfully stopped Salah from being able to shoot. It's a simple one really. As Salah was going to strike the ball, Sakho tripped him. It may have only been slight and not enough to make him fall, but it was still enough to impede him.
