rubbish really, is there enough money in disabled sports to warrant this.

Still to this day remember a swimmer in the Aussie para Olympic games who had no arms and just crashed head first into the pool end, total respect.

Thanks Ed! Good read that!

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

Excellent ed, reminds me of a south park episode lol.

{Ed001's Note - is that a compliment? Sounds very insulting from what I saw of that show it was terrible.}

I’ve seen you try to play football Ed, that’s the number 1 sporting villain IMO 😂
Good read, well written, great source checks and a very entertaining story. Actually looking forward to this article line.

{Ed001's Note - your refereeing career is next....}

fantastic article ed. I had no idea. thank you for that.

Really interesting Ed01, thanks. As usual with your articles it is a mystery that these stories aren't more well known. You are shining a light. In this case, I hope those involved still aren't able to sleep at night. The love of money truly is the root of all evil.

{Ed001's Note - I am just shocked that just one man has been given any kind of punishment and even then a pittance of a fine for a man who milked the system to make himself wealthy.}

Bloody hell Ed001 I never heard of that scandal before but that is one of the lowest level of cheating I've ever heard of.

{Ed001's Note - sickening isn't it?}

and they still won 87-63! i think people who cheat are the real mentally disabled. and cheaters at such an event - they are truly mentally sick.

Do you have US Postal on that list :) ?

{Ed001's Note - I do now.}

That made a bloody good read that did Ed, nice one mate!

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate. Glad you enjoyed.}

Ben Johnson on that list Ed?

{Ed001's Note - of course and Carl Lewis, who had the cheek to moan about Johnson despite having received two (yes two) bans while a college athlete for performance enhancing drugs.}

12.) 20 Sep 2018
20 Sep 2018 08:01:13
Carl Lewis?! No way Ed!

{Ed001's Note - Lewis was a vile piece of crap mate. Proper piece of work mate. A real cheat. Johnson took steroids to compete with the likes of him and was just a divvy who was not bright enough to avoid getting caught. Lewis was a serial cheat who started at a young age. The Russians are not the only nation to have run long term PED programmes.}

So weird. I was wondering what the angle was until money came into it. I can’t imagine anybody could feel an ounce of pride at duping your way to victory in a tournament for disabled people until you find out about all those beautiful, probably tax free, Euros (Not Pasetas? ) . It was a shame for all the subsequent athletes that couldn’t compete, but in a small way we should be grateful. If it wasnt for Spain’s carelessness and arrogance, there would probably still be the occasional ringer. At least there is testing now.

Nice one Ed, I’m going to enjoy this series. Are there any Brits on the list? We always seems to have a smugness in this country that we would never engage in such ghastly duplicity. It would be good to be taken down a peg or two.

{Ed001's Note - there are a lot, some will be serial bad guys, others will be ones who just had a moment of madness like when Beckham became public enemy no. 1 in England after his World Cup sending off. It is not just going to be the Lance Armstrongs etc, just anyone who had their moment of being the bad guy.}

Ah fair enough. I didn't know if there was a Clive ‘Clubber’ Harris, a farrier who boxed his way across the Eastern Bloc with horseshoes in his gloves. Or a legendary pole vaulter, Neville ‘The Frog’ Francis, perhaps, who had secret springs in his shoes and was the first man to vault over 7 metres. They’d make for good stories.

{Ed001's Note - if there are, I will try and find out so I can write about them mate. Anything like that I will be looking for. I am intending to try and find one obscure-ish one for every well known example I use. Makes it more interesting I think when you are just finding out about it, but the ones that are well known are good stories that deserve telling too.}

Exactly Ed. Sounds good. Very much appreciate all this, ordinarily there would be a subscription for this information and these types of services so thank you very much for being my go to site. Not just for the football, but for my breaks in day in general.

{Ed001's Note - it is win win to be honest, as I enjoy doing the research and writing the articles, so it is good to be able to do this as my job.

As for subscription, I just find that idea uncomfortable. It is like education and health care, information should be free, not just available to those lucky enough to be in a position to pay. I don't think people should have to miss out just because they can't afford it.}

Just saying a similar storyline was used in a episode maybe that's where they got the idea. Good article ed.

{Ed001's Note - ah ok, I don't know I never saw much of that show, understand now what you mean. Cheers mate.}
