Another week, another win for the reds; but how did the Liverpool Loanee's fair?

It was a quieter week for those on loan with just 10 players featuring in the weekends action.

Ben Woodburn continues to be a growing cause for concern as the promising youngster was left out of the Sheffield Utd squad for a 6th consecutive game, whilst Shamal George and Sheyi Ojo were also unused.

Marko Grujic and Connor Randall are both still sidelined and Adam Bogdan's Hibs did not have a match at the weekend.

Karius and Besiktas got back to winning ways after 4 games without a win (losing 3) as they thumped Rizespor 4-1 in the Monday night game.

Karius had very little to do other than pick the ball out of the back of his net as Rizespor rarely threatened the home side over the course of the game.

Anderson Arroyo continued his fine form for Gent U21s last night as they picked up a 2-1 home win against Zulte-Waregem.

The Gent Mens team won by the identical scoreline at the weekend but Awoniyi was a lot less involved. A late cameo was all that was rewarded to the youngster for a second week running.

Young Full-Back Corey Whelan found himself on the scoresheet this weekend as he opened the scoring for Crewe in the 70th minute. With only his second senior goal to date Whelan controlled a cross field pass with his right before slotting home with his left. Crewe went on to beat Grimsby 2-0.

Kent and Ejaria had a very disappointing weekend as Rangers lost the League Cup semi final to Aberdeen at Hampden Park.

Both Red loanees played the full 90 but were unable to create the breakthrough as the Gers slumped to a 1-0 defeat.

The goals have dried up for Danny Ings and Southampton as they fired a blank for the third game in a row. Fellow strugglers Newcastle visited St Mary's at the weekend and left with a point as the game finished 0-0.

Harry Wilson was not on the scoresheet this weekend but he did get an assist as Derby drew 1-1 with Middlesborough.

A win would of seen Derby go top and they were minutes away from achieving their aim only to be undone by a comical own goal by defender Jayden Bogle.

Wilson was deployed in the playmaker role of a midfield 3 and had a very effective and productive evening.

Herbie Kane made his 17th start of the season for Doncaster as they lost 2-1 to Coventry on Saturday. Not the result he would of wanted but the young midfielder continues to impress whilst on loan.

Last but not least Allan Rodrigues was back in the Eintracht squad after being left out of the Europa game mid week.

Allan came on for the final 20 and helped his team battle back as they drew 101 with Nurnberg.

And that's your lot :)

He is still young Woodburn but it is peculiar he hasn't been able to kick on in the last couple seasons. So much promise and potential. Wilson on the other hand has been consistent and scored a few worldies. Really excited to see him in the team in the coming seasons.

NICE! Thanks Carra.

What's going on at Shef Utd?

Thanks Carra.

To quote a Derby friend of mine, “Harry could walk into your midfield right now. He is that good. ”

I’m not sure I agree but I think he is playing every game at the Rams in the style that he knows Klopp likes. He is playing already with the high tempo pass and attack that is needed and is always the first one to chase back when the ball is lost. Very positive signs.

Thank you Carra!
ED001 if I may - is Wilson finally a loanee youngster that will come back and really succeed?
Your hunch as things stand?

{Ed001's Note - he is certainly the one that is doing enough to give himself a chance. The most likely is he gets sold though I hope not as I don't see another youngster out on loan impressing like him.}

Thanks for that ed.
Does make you bit depressed for the state of the youth teams doesn't it.
At least we have TAA as one success story.

{Ed001's Note - that is not so bad at this level, there are very few coming through from top clubs youth teams directly into the first teams.}

The super successful teams always have youth players breaking through. I think it's something klopp wants to do and Wilson, Woodburn, brewster and solanke. Not to mention Curtis Jones all have themselves in with a shout.

Hi Ed001, do you think that would send a bad message and maybe dishearten young players from joining if Wilson was sold? I mean what else is the lad supposed to do, consistently impressing on loan, i'd be very disappointed if he doesn't get some sort of look in next season.

{Ed001's Note - it would certainly make me wonder if he doesn't get a chance and if I was a parent I would be considering my options if it was my child being offered a place. And if I would do that, then that would be the same for lots of others.}

I hope he gets a shot in place of Lallana next season, he’s far more direct and dangerous in open play and I think it’s time to give him a chance given how he’s performed on loan.

I actually think he’ll make a perfect backup to Shaqiri. He’s capable of playing in midfield, at 10 or out wide, scores goals and has a wicked free kick. all very similar traits to Shaqiri even if unproven at the very top.
