Thanks for putting the effort in with the extra bit Ed, quality mate, hope you have a good Monday.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, glad you enjoyed. I am going to try and theme it each time.}

Thanks for that Tris!

It would be a fascinating subject for a dissertation or other study to see which sport has had most success breeding politicians?

You've mentioned the footballers, but we've also got Pacquiao and Klitchko in boxing, Seb Coe from Athletics (even Jeffrey Archer, albeit only one appearance for GB, apparently) .

It makes sense, as the same mental fortitude required to become an elite athlete would no doubt come in handy when trying to deal with the machinations of political life.?

{Ed001's Note - possibly. I would have thought it would be more likely to be anything other than football in the UK, though that would change elsewhere. Purely because your average British footballer lacks a decent education, though, particularly in Eastern Europe, footballers elsewhere tend to have a better level of education. 'Proper' football men are not, as a rule, all that bright.}

In Bulgaria we had a PM as footballer aswell. Boyko Borisov played couple of seasons with a low tier team.

{Ed001's Note - yeah I saw that but it was actually the fact you could sign the Hungarian one on FM06 that got him included mate. It actually made me want to see if I still had a copy of the game to see if he is any good!}

Surely Wayne Rooney is intelligent enough to go into politics, Ed01?

{Ed001's Note - he is the obvious outlier. Clearly intelligent enough to run the country.}

Queen: Run the country, Wayne

Wayne: OK, Your Maj

Several weeks later

Queen (on phone) : Wayne, where are you?!?!?

Wayne: I've only got as far as Edinburgh and my legs are tired. Can I stop now?

Hey Ed actually Boyko Borisov is in 13 and 14 football manager! He is even the oldest player in the game!

{Ed001's Note - I never knew that mate, cheers for letting me know. How old was he then?}

Great read Ed001! Clement Atlee played for Fleet Town. and Gordon Brown was a nutter about Raith Rovers BUT I also remember an awkward Nicola Sturgeon confusing football with river dance (I'll upload the photo) lol.

{Ed001's Note - there are literally thousands of them to be honest, but I didn't want to get into all of them. Though I did think about including Gordon Brown as he upset a lot of people by trying to prove he wasn't a bitter Scot and cheering on England in a major tournament and also named Gascoigne's goal against the Scots as the best goal he ever saw.}
