Avid reader, not so much a poster.
Good win for us today, very good win I must say
VVD solid, Robbo solid, Salah getting into full gear gradually, and Alisson very good.

A lot of fans out there feel Hendo was terrible cos of the red card, I think Hendo was very good while he was on and though the red card was deserved, the challenges we're needed at the times he made them. He was just unlucky today.
TAA had a good game too

There are still a ton of supporters out there saying keita should start ahead of Hendo or Millie or Wiji, the guy hasn't even adapted to the league yet and for the last four/ five games he has played he has been terrible so I don't see what a lot of you out there see.

Unto PSG, hopefully we win and can concentrate on the derby.

YNWA.

Keita needs game time, how's he meant to get used to the league without it? if you watched him before he joined Liverpool you'd of seen exactly how good he is. He'd be on before Wijnaldum every single time if it was upto me, he's bloody quality and time will prove it but he needs games.

{Ed002's Note - Just think of it as a period of transition.}

Op, Henderson played OK today, but he was a red card waiting to happen so far that I'm peed with him. He was far from or is far from being a bad player, but today his temperament and judgment was very disappointing.

I'm not so fussed about Henson red card. What was more disappointing for me was to see the Liverpool captain behave so recklessly and so rude to the refs. I'm not a ref lover but it just didn't look good imo.

Maybe cos he knows who the real captain is, cough splutter Virgil cough van splutter dijk cough!

It’s klopp’s fault for not subbing him off when he started ranting at the ref. He was obviously losing his head. That said I’m not too bothered. I thought he played pants today and we won’t miss him against Everton. He seems unable to receive the ball and then turn around before releasing it even if there’s green grass behind him and it would take four players out of the game. Let’s see what Fab can do.

I have always stuck up for Henderson since the day we signed him but for me Virgil is the captain and I feel Henderson is on the decline he used too score the odd goal and get round the pitch better an be more influential, him an lallana are past there sell by date for me, saying all that I hope he proves me wrong like, just can't see it .

I think the injuries have destroyed him personally.

You may have seen my comment early on in the match about Henderson's back-passing. He has absolutely no place in this Liverpool side, but I think that he was very unlucky to receive his first yellow card as the free-kick should have been given to him for the shirt-tugging of the Watford player. Still, we have to accept all blessings however they may come!

Backpassing? Sidepassing? What the f? Did you actually watch the game? I'm not saying he was superb in it, but hell he did lots than just that. He did make some nice long forward passes, he pressed, he covered both sides of the pitch. One time during Watford free-kick, he spotted one Watford player was not marked. He shouted, but he went there anyway coz no one was going there to cover that side.

Regardless, I was dissappointed with his red card last night. He can do better than that. But come on! Enough of this back and side passing!

Spot on, HaizanMSS. What a load of stuff with this "back-passing, side-passing". Maybe people should go watch the game again as you say. I saw the play you mentioned about the free kick where a player was not covered and he recognized it and aske TAA to come over and he switched to where TAA was. That is what a capt. does that goes unseen cos it is not a highlight on MOTD. Hendo played a great game today cos he and Wiji, allowed our full backs to bomb on and he protected the defence very well. He played some good diagonals as well esp. towards TAA in the first half but again, people were too busy counting the back and sideways passes as if that is some kind of rebuke, which it NEVER is, IMO. Pep made a career out of doing this at Barcelona (a possession team) but I guess the same rules no longer apply.

As for people talking about how Fab (who I like, btw) will take his place, would that be the same Fab who was drowning against Arsenal cos he was off the pace? If you think Everton won't target him then you are fooling yourselves. Fab is not yet ready to play the role Hendo plays as the tempo-setter, and launch pad in the team. Maybe later BUT defo, not yet. He wil.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but there are posters on this site who have made their minds up that Henderson and Wijnaldum are not good enough for Liverpool and take every opportunity to hammer them, however they actually perform. And yet Klopp continues to select them regularly. Do those posters never ask themselves why or are they so lacking in self awareness and humility that they really think they know better than the manager?

Ed02 I’ve bitten on your transition comment! Admittedly klopp needs to wins things but even you must see how far we’ve come under klopp? City are the team to beat at the minute and it’s going to be a hard task for any team to compete with them not only because of their financial backing but their whole team is class. However all we can do is keep the pressure up which we’re doing, which is all down to the way klopp has us playing. On that I don’t think we’re as strong as last season going forward but we’re stronger at the back and we’re in a far better position than we’ve been in years. Would love to hear your honest opinion on how you think we’re progressing under klopp. I also understand other managers have come into clubs and won things in their first season but do you honestly think the likes of conte, guardiola, Maureen etc. would of won things in their first season at Liverpool or even turned us around into being a strong team like we are at the minute.

{Ed002's Note - Nobody is denying that Liverpool has improved and have spent a great deal of money doing so. It is not only Manchester City that need to be beaten, you make it sound like they are dominating the league, but they have only won it once since Klopp arrived - and when they won it in 2018 they had not won for four years before that. Klopp has lost Buvac and I don't think any of the supporters understand quite how significant that is - and it is rather a surprise that it is rarely mentioned. Whilst Lijnders has returned the feeling amongst many in the know that he is a far from adequate replacement. I cannot say whether Conte, Mourinho or Guardiola would have one things in their first season at Liverpool, but aside from Guardiola the others did win in their first seasons in the Premier League - and Conte took Chelsea from 10th or whatever to first. Perhaps taking the red tinted specs off sometimes would not be a bad idea?}

I have to agree Ed, I am not seeing improvement in our play, we are better defensively, with a better ‘keeper but there are problems against better sides that the champions league group is exposing, particularly away from home. I feel we are still 3 quality players short of being able to say we are ahead of Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal et al and of course they must look strengthen themselves too.
It will be interesting to see how we react to our first league defeat when it arrives. Big games in Europe now sandwiched between big league games, we are about to find out 🤞🏻.

{Ed002's Note - League defeats will come and they just need to be taken in stride.}

No red tinted specs worn here, we’ve been underperforming for years. All I’m saying is I think klopp is moving us in the right direction although I’ll agree he needs to start winning things to silence some of his critics.

As soon as Liverpool do get beaten ed02, you can be sure of many posts saying it is because of Buvac leaving. While we are winning nobody is speaking of it.
Would be interesting to hear more on this as to ehy Lijnders is not good enough. thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Lijnders does not have the same tactical abilities for setting a team up as Buvac does.}

I actually watched the game and as usual is was a backpass, a swagger, another backpass. He had a great opportunity to pass a ball forward to Mane in an excellent attacking position and he passed it sideways. He is noted for all the passes he makes in a match but sadly most of them are back to the player who gave him the ball. to use a modern expression - "He is no longer fit for purpose" in this Liverpool side!

Mia, I am absolutely amazed that you are not the manager of Liverpool FC as you are clearly so far ahead of Jürgen Klopp tactically and in your judgement of players. When the job comes up again, I will give you my full support.

18.) 26 Nov 2018
26 Nov 2018 23:11:10
Exactly, WW. Mia, how do you know the pass was on cos I saw the play you were talking about? Were you on the pitch or did you figure that out watching from the stands or on your TV or tablet? There is a reason why those who watch football and those who actually play it have a diff. perspective. Did it occur to you that the pass was not on cos the opposition were baiting him into passing the ball there so they could intercept and counter? Or that from the angle where you see the play from (the TV camera), it looks like the pass is on but actually, there is no real passing lane there?

Pretty sure had he passed the ball and it got intercepted and we conceded on the counter, you would be here slating him for giving the ball away, right? Like WW said, you should be the manager cos clearly, you see things Klopp, the players and the coaches can't see and are frankly, blind to.

Koppite, we are a more efficient team now and we don't have to score 3 goals to get a win. In fact, we needed to score 3 goals just to get a point but of course, that is not improvement in our play. We should always be looking to improve regardless of how good or bad we are you say we have not improved our play. What play exactly? If it is the one where we go all gong ho and score 4 goals and concede 3 at the back end then, you are wrong. We have improved and the numbers bear that out. I am not interested in my team scoring 3 goals just to get a point. We are over that now. We need to play smarter and that is what we are doing while we improve in all aspects. Cheers, mate.
