So over the last few months of us having this amazing start to the season it has been amazing to see how our defensive resilience has transformed.

There has been a lot of talk around how we arne't playing the free scoring games of last year etc.

I have to admit when I've been watching the team I have been trying to work out what hasn't been as prominent this year, and actually against Burnley i think it hit me.

In a lot of games this year, aside from being more defensively sound/ smart and not just launching forward, it seems that we are playing more long balls into the top 3, particularly down the wings. Makes sense right as a release and with the talent we have up front.

However against Burnley, Keita reminded me how last year (with AOC and sometimes others) we had a bit more confidence in running at defenders from our central midfield. Seeing him do that midweek, and the Burnley defenders start getting pulled out of position reminded me of something (that in my opinion) we haven't been doing as much of this year. Yes we have had Shaquiri in spurts and he's been great, but that drive from midfield really disrupts defences sometimes as they want to come to tackle but also scared to leave the side of Mane/ Salah/ Firmino.

Hoping that this is the start of our midfield 3 playing with a bit more confidence in driving forward and speed in play - of course in a sensible way!

This is all just my opinion/ observation and I can't ignore that we are in an amazing position so can't really fault the team. I just feel we will get even better, and see players like Firmino get back to his best when we have those driving runs from midfield.

Love the club, love the players and super proud. Regardless of the above they are doing an amazing job already!

Spot on that mate! I noticed it to one against Burnley. Keita played very well and caused a lot of problems.

Liverbird it won't happen. Allison was called Messi of goalkeepers and that's a lot of credit to messi, Allison should be called Sir King Kenny of Goalkeepers.

{Ed025's Note - he has not messed up yet CH, he will of course and when he does i will be on him like a bun on a baloni sandwitch.. :)

Before you have any sandwich, you’ll need to wipe all that egg off your face first Ed025. Bigging up Pickford against Alisson.
Sorry Ed but a derby win’s a derby win and a bit of ribbing is on the menu for a while!

{Ed025's Note - and fully justified juicer, if it was the other way around i would be giving your keeper terrible pelters mate, i never bigged up jordan though all i said was there was not much between them...i must have been talking about pickfords ears.. :)

Have you forgotten the fox's away? Ed25.

Exactly right. Spot on op. We have missed a cm who will play direct and make direct runs. Keita did what the ox was doing last season last night. He was fantastic. So unlucky not to score. He is going to become phenomenal for us.

{Ed025's Note - lets not go overboard just yet robbie..one swallow and all that.. he is a quality player but thats his first top performance since he signed, when he has put a string of them together then that is the time for the plaudits mate, im not trying to rain on your parade..just bringing a modicum of reality..

Ed25, you'd better be nice to him cos as far as you and your lot are concerned, the jokes write themselves at this point. For me, it's not that I am easily pleased. I always liked Origi and can remember he was in flying form until one of you blue noses butchered him in the derby cos he could not get anywhere near him. He still came back and scored 11 goals the season after.

As for being a poor man's Andy Carroll, you make a valid point. Both have succeeded in ruining the blue noses' lives in derbies while playing for LFC and Origi has made it his goal (pun intended) to punish your lot during Derbies. Like I said, all I want for Christmas is ORRRRIIIIGGGIIII!

andy carroll can sprint? I can compare origi to a poor mans torres but still an ok player plus we don't have another player like him with his speed and stature.

Ed25 is just sore cos one of our players he gives so much stick to, ruined his derby day AGAIN and not for the first nor second time. So much egg on so many faces out there and I would be sore too if I had that much egg on my face. #OOOORRRRIIIIGGGGIIII!

{Ed025's Note - that surprises me brover, because its not like your lot to go overboard about your players is it?....oh yeah it is.. :)
