Thrilled with the draw, should be a cracking tie! Not counting our chickens just yet because Bayern are an experienced side with a handful of world class players who can deal damage.

I think we can all tell this Bayern side is not what it once was, i’d just like to ask the eds and people who know the Bundesliga what went wrong? In 2013 they looked set for a period of domination, as did all of German football. But all that i can see is stagnation and regression.

Was it Pep? Players like Muller, Gotze and Badstuber not realising their potential? Players not being replaced properly? Poor attitude, overated players replacing true legends? Or is it all just an overreaction and we should definitely be worried?

Bayern are an ageing team. I'm more than happy with the draw.

While it's always the players who do the business on the field, it's always the management upstairs that is in control of a club's overall success and future. So that's where I would look. To this day, I am surprised they let Pep go so easily, but then maybe he didn't want to stick around and ManC's petrodollars were too strong an attraction. In the last decade or so I have gotten the impression that club directors do seem to meddle in team affairs (going by stuff that appears in the media on and off) .

I think lack of CL trophy was the decision to part with Pep. Its just my opinion.

Sorry but how are Bayern an ageing team? Alaba, Neuer, Kimmich, Sule, Conan, Tolisso, Goretzka are all either young or in their prime. Lewandawski is absolutely top notch.

It’s a tie we can win but I don’t like the arrogance or disrespect coming from some people.

Alaba, Neuer, Kimmich and Lewandowski are all top class sure. But correct me if i’m wrong, the rest are injury prone and flatter to deceive? I don’t watch a lot of Bundesliga admittedly but it doesn’t feel like the professional, all conquering powerhouse of years gone by. Their midfield and central defence looks very hollow these days, Rodriguez and Tolisso? Ribery and Robben STILL being the main men? Come on something has gone wrong there, we thought they were going to be the team to dominate Europe for years to come but instead it was Madrid. The regression in quality of the Bundesliga as a whole has also shocked me massively.

To be fair to pep the city job would be attractive to any manager, unlimited money, a great set up, already great team, a less than great history, he has the opportunity to really smash records and go down in their history at the very least. The only downside would be living in Manchester ;)

Bayern are no longer who they were and this has been the case since 2013 when the legendary Jupp Heynekes took a world class team to the treble (beating Klopp's BVB in a memorable CL final) . That team would later be made worse by the so called "best manager of all time" Pep Guardiola. Ancelotti came in and got sacked and the fact that it took Heynekes to come out of retirement, to give them back their dignity last season, tells you all you need to know about who they have become. Did I also mention they are 5-7 points back of BVB this season with the average and inexperienced Niko Kovac as manager?

All that said, Bayern are still a handful esp. at their home ground so we have to be ready for them BUT IMO, there is absolutely nothing to be overly scared of.
