Really believe that we need an out right deadly striker similar to an aguero or suarez type.

1.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 21:58:21
I don't exactly think so. We were just abysmal today.

{Ed0333's Note - you really think we were abysmal. Not the adjective I’d use mate.

2.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 21:58:56
Bobby was our best player today bar VVD And our keeper. Like 4 seasons in and still people complaining about Bobby. I’ll never understand.

3.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:00:19
I rather he not play milner hendo and winaldum in midfield ever again.
We had nothing to lose Shaq and Keita should have been on sooner.
Hope this doesn't affect our next few games.

4.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:04:32
Get a grip guys. we'll be okay.

5.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:08:51
Exactly reddo, we are still top of gbe league. We lost the hardest game of the season. There really isn't a lot between both sides. I think both teams can win every game left. This has given city hope, we just have to stay cool.

6.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:10:33
It's not about Losing a single game! It's about how we bounce back from a defeat like this.

7.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:05:21
I could care less how mane was playing I would never have taken him off in that game a goal down. Weird decision.

Unless he was injured.

8.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:05:37
Definitely not abysmal that was an incredible game and we were unlucky not to get another goal. Still 4 points ahead just need to get a win next game.

9.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:08:31
We were terrible, did not do ourselves justice at all. We just kept giving it to them. Ah well you can't win em all. Onto the next game.

10.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:13:40
Tj Allison was poor today, distribution no where near his usual standard.

11.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:15:24
Trent and lovern ripped to bits by sane! Best team won no shame loosin to that city side!
Just hope vvd gives lovern a thump for his brain fart speeches cus every time he opens his hole sumthn happens! We need to respond well simple
As that!

12.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:18:05
@Mark08 - did you see any of the numerous high quality saves he made to keep us in the game? His distribution wasn't anything special as he was always going short.

13.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:19:34
Ed0333, we were abysmal. Especially in the first half. Probably one of the worst this season, apart from the 1st leg in Napoli.
I wouldn't have been saddened by a loss if we'd played well. But we didn't.

{Ed0333's Note - I grant you we weren’t great mate but we made them look impotent most of the game. We can’t be too despondent we’ve had lots of luck this season and it ran out today. We’ll learn from this as a collective as a team as a set of personalities and I know we’ll be back.

14.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:32:08
Maybe stats would probe me wrong, but Klopp seems to sub Mane a lot more than the other forwards. I wonder is like Rafa and Benayoun? Rafa always felt Benny needed to be practically bouncing around the place with energy to be effective.

It's not like it hasn't worked for 20 out of 21 games this season though, so it's just an observation.

15.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:46:36
Wow, the toys are already out of the pram after our FIRST loss of the season against the defending champions. PATHETIC attitude as usual. Bobbie is not a striker (yet he scored) . The Gini, Hendo and Milner combo should never play for us again (yet, they bossed Napoli off the pitch) . Again, PATHETIC attitude.

Abysmal? What game were you watching, Realtofel? That game was as even a game as you would ever find and only solidified what we all already knew: Both teams are the best in England by a country mile and it showed.

Only Aguero could have scored that goal cos he has done it to the best GK's around. He did it to DDG vs Utd this season. Secondly, Mane's shot is off the post and out while Sane's is off the post and in. That is how BIG games are decided at this level. DETAILS! The game was even for me and we created just as many chances as they did and really, a draw would have been a fair result BUT that's football. Our boys gave their all and there were mistakes made on both sides cos they were both trying to attack and we matched them step for step. City were not better. They were luckier in certain details and we were not. Again, that's football.

What were people expecting? That City could NOT beat us? It is this type of self-entitled attitude that makes other rival fans laugh at us. This season is going to go down to the wire and we are STILL top and on to the next game. On to Wolves. YNWA!

16.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:57:07
Seano - Allison had a below average game (like most of the team) . He was put under pressure and couldn't handle it, distribution was poor. Yes he made a late save.

He is of course not a weak link, but we still have the same issues as 6 months ago the midfield is well short. The Hendo lovers will be back out in a few weeks when we beat one of the lesser sides but agains't top teams he is simply not good enough.

17.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:59:33
No-one was expecting us to beat City. But no-one was expecting us to play timid either. And the game was not "even". We did nothing for the first 55 minutes, outside Mane hitting the post.
The loss isn't why people are bothered, it's about the performance.

18.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 23:00:32
Spot on redwolf.

19.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 23:01:12
Spot on RedWolf, we go again. Not our best performance, but generally good. TAA struggled a bit tonight I thought, but generally I thought we looked like we had a game plan and it was really tight, could have gone either way, two great teams going at it for 90 minutes, proves (at the Etihad), that we are "at that level" at the moment, 4 points clear, room to reflect, see how we react, etc.

20.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 23:01:22
we were just unlucky how on earth the referee could see the ball wasnt completly in by 0,4 inches unbelievable! and how Kompany didn't get a red! or Fernandinho should have seen more yellows than he did!

21.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 23:02:21
We showed we deserve to be at this level without playing outstanding. Listen to Kompany, pep etc. They needed to be outstanding to beat us. We had 2 cleared off line n the shot hit post and come out. There's went in off post! People say we've got luck. but it's been at 3 nil rather than 1 all.

22.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 23:05:27
Redwolf what makes other fans laugh at us is posters saying City have a terrible defence, we are the only team that attacks them (we never laid a glove on them in 2 matches), Allison is 10 times the better keeper, Hendo is a top player. We should just show them respect and be glad that we are ahead of a top side not just spout complete garbage that just isn't true.

Be over the moon that we are 4 points clear but respect City are a better team and we need luck to beat them.

23.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 23:08:53
Every time we win a game it’s because how good we are but when we lose it’s how pathetic we are? We lost to Man City who foe me out worked us and out pressed us. We were beaten because their midfield over ran ours. We weren’t at our best but largely due to the pressure they put on us. Sane was brilliant for them and Aguerro showed his class. Thought Kompany played very well.
I was amazed Henderson and Milner both started tonight. Fabinho has been our best midfielder past month and the performance improved drastically when he came on, brought more composure when we had the ball, and to take Mane off who will always create the odd chance. Thought VVD was sloppy with the ball tonight for a change. But it wasn’t a terrible performance we were beaten by the better teams and it happens. We are still 4 points clear and with a decent enough run of games for the next month to build up confidence again.

24.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 23:11:11
I agree Redwolf, this game really could’ve gone either way. Manes goal goes in, Sane’s comes out. Kompany probably should’ve been sent off but wasn’t.
They got the rub of the green tonight but had less possession and less shots on goal than we did in their own backyard.
We are a better team and will show that in the remainder of the season.

25.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:57:53
Spot on Wolf.

26.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 23:15:47
Absolutely agree Redwolf. I despair with some fans on here. Undefeated in the Prem and beaten by the Champions who we still hold a 4pt lead at the top of the table. It was desperate for City to win and they were just the better side today. They worked on our weakest defender in Lovren and opened us up in Midfield. When we made the change with Fabinho and scored I thought we could go on but we lost the ball up front and City broke to score the decisive winner. Two top sides but they had it tonight. If you were asked if you would take a 4pt lead going into January at the start of the season you would have taken it. Get a grip for Christ sake.

27.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 23:33:08
We were far from abysmal. Very evenly balanced game in which millimetres decided the outcome. I thought we looked good on the break.

Essy to say in hindsight but fabhino's directness would have made an impact and could have been brought on for milly at half time. Milner has genuine quality though and I understand why klopp kept him on. Although we lost I have to admit it was a good game to watch.

28.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 23:31:11
"The Gini, Hendo and Milner combo should never play for us again (yet, they bossed Napoli off the pitch) "

Against napoli we ran at them, got the goal and the kept closing them down defensively. perfect tactics for these mifeild players. However against city, we were okay sitting back not really trying, and that is when these midfeild players are the least effective. The fans are right to be frustrated, but it shouldn't be at the players, it should be at klopp for getting it wrong tonight.

29.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 23:52:54
We lost tonight and we need to take that on the chin. Let’s not let frustration get the better of us as it’s only 1 game. For me now it’s how we react to this and we probably couldn’t have a worse game next. Does Klopp rest players for the Fa cup and risk back to back defeats against a good wolves team or do we go full strength and put all our eggs into the Fa cup basket as well.

{Ed002's Note - A lot of the supporters are from Liverpool, so it is "chins" not "chin".}

30.) 03 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 23:55:08
Can we please drop this Kompany should have been sent off as well. We are the same fans who said VVD decision against Napoli was correct and now we are claiming injustice for a lesssr challenge tonight. We lost the game fair and square. By coming up with excuses we just make ourselves look like poor losers and slightly pathetic.

31.) 04 Jan 2019
04 Jan 2019 00:51:59
Lol ed002 isn't it just a British thing😁.

{Ed033's Note - Shouldn't it be chin-chin?

32.) 04 Jan 2019
04 Jan 2019 01:28:43
Going into our Christmas run we had Wolves and Coty away, Arsenal and Newcastle at home.

Tough games and we still have a 4 point lead.

We can afford to lose one more game 👍.

33.) 04 Jan 2019
04 Jan 2019 01:26:18
I don’t know how Klopp could pick Hendo over Fabinho.

34.) 04 Jan 2019
04 Jan 2019 01:27:25
It’s not just that though. Our air of invincibility has gone, city will be boosted massively when they needed it most. Of course it’s not all doom and gloom, but could be a turning point.

35.) 04 Jan 2019
04 Jan 2019 01:33:14
To be fair I’d agree we weren’t great, I think we approached the game too happy with a draw, that midfield doesn’t work well enough together in games like this, the front three were poor, Lovren was a burden. It’s not the end of the world they’re a great side and we’re still top (I still think we’ll win) but today we were justly beaten, just didn’t play well enough.

Hopefully the lads learn and we carry on. Those who argue about 1.12 cm, it mate as well hve been 1 mile at the end of the day if it doesn’t go in it means jack all. Onwards and upwards reds let’s bounce back positively.

36.) 04 Jan 2019
04 Jan 2019 01:34:14
I just think it wasn’t the game to start Milner and hendo in. After there lay off like. Bit to much to soon. Gutted really😥. Willy Clark wherever you are thank you for making me a red one of the best choices I’ve ever made❤️.

37.) 04 Jan 2019
04 Jan 2019 01:35:19
We weren't at our best an they were that's how it was tonight unfortunately. In the rules of the game kompany was out of control with his tackle and should of been a red. Hats off to citeh they prob deserved it tonight but it's not the end of the world.

38.) 04 Jan 2019
04 Jan 2019 02:07:39
That certainly wasnt an even game. City dominated possession in the first half without creating many chances and continued in the second until we scored. We were not at the races for the first hour and couldn't string a few passes together without City regaining the ball.
Peps tactics and City’s performance was better than ours. We were too conservative and didn't create enough.
In other matches, TAA has had Sane in his pocket but this time he was fleeced repetitively. You can keep your excuses of luck being a deciding factor - City won because they performed on the day and we certainly didnt.

39.) 04 Jan 2019
03 Jan 2019 22:53:11
I get what your saying ed033 we weren’t terrible but we weren’t even decent imo. It was a bit of meh performance, it doesn’t matter how we make them look impotent we lost the game so it was impotent enough and part of that was because we just weren’t good enough.

Yes maybe a few players just had a bad game but starting midfield of Milner Henderson and wij really didn’t help we literally pass in triangles between keeper and back four for 25mins.

Still in great position we where always going to lost at some point and against city isn’t the end of the world but let’s hope we learn from it. I hope when Chelsea and spurs come to Anfield we go at them rather than like tonight.

{Ed0333's Note - please don’t think I’m being patronizing or trying to be all spiritually intelecual after the fact mate but with everything in life we will learn from this or should do anyway. Winning league titles is about growth and making Dom Perignon from adversity. Those triangles you speak of were pretty pointless but to be fair City pressed adequately in phases. I’m pretty sure that midfield three will be used sparingly if at all from now on, for me it’s gone past it’s expiry date and has done for a while. Part of me thought we could go unbeaten this season I really did but maybe this is the kick in the nuts we needed and it’s the best thing that could of happened to us. I still feel we will win the premiership, I think the fixture list is in our favor and the most important thing Klopp will be absolutely like a man possessed now.
