I may get a few disagrees on this but I’d take Zaha in a heartbeat to rotate with the front 3. I think he’d know that he wouldn’t start every game but would still get to play in 30-40 games over the course of the season.

Absolutely carries that Palace team and wouldn’t have half as much pressure on him with us. Where would we get the money from you might ask? The so-called reported £50m or so we’re being told that could be recouped between Solanke, Origi and Ings would go a long way to subsidising such a fee for Zaha.

I also have to admit I’m not 100% on what his work rate off the ball is like but look at the negativity for Shaq pre season for exactly that compared to how he’s lauded nowadays. Seems a no brainier. That’s my two cents anyway!

I disagree.

19 Jan 2019 18:15:05
I’d take him too.

{Ed0333's Note - clearly not many would say no to Zaha but he would be a very expensive sub.

Without going into his inconsistency, work rate or lack of end product I don't see why the player would leave in order to become a rotation option? With Shaq Stokes relegation played a huge part in that, Palace aren't in the same position.

I suspect Palace would push for more then £50 Million, but even if they didn't. £50 Million for a rotation option?

Zaha's not even had the best season, he was impressive today but this feels highly reactionary.

{Ed0333's Note - I don’t know the first thing about transfer fees but I would bet Eds 001’s testicles that Zaha is £65 million plus.

19 Jan 2019 18:20:42
He’s one of those players that at one minute I say yes he’d be worth buying and then the next no friggin way. I think with a proper manager he could be okay but that’s about it.

5.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 18:23:57
Before today, I'd have been 50/ 50, but after seeing him today, I'd have to agree. If he could perform like that on a consistent basis, he'd be a great player to have in the squad.

19 Jan 2019 18:35:36
Care to offer an opinion other than “ I disagree “ put some substance with it.
I would take Zaha, an I’ve felt that way for a long time. Don’t know about his mentality, attitude, nor home life, which Klopp would check before singing anyone. But on ability alone, he is fantastic. As a defender; Zaha has to be in the top 3 of attacker you don’t want to face in the league.

7.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 18:35:46
Always like Zaha. Yes he has bits to game that could be improved on no doubt. But can you imagine if klopp and staff worked their magic with him. And playing with Salah firmino fabinho etc around him! Unfortunately Palace know he can be unplayable on his day and English. So the fee would be upwards of £50m as Ed0333 mentioned.

8.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 18:43:44
He wouldn’t be just a sub though Ed, he’d start a lot of games. Anyone who thinks our current front 3 can play 60 games a season at their best is kidding themselves. We’ve had Sturridge, Origi, Ings and Solanke on the bench and none have been good enough to compete for a place. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that we do have to pay good money for a rotation option otherwise we’ll never be able to challenge on more than 2 fronts.

9.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 18:55:33
Remember though bolasie used too rip us too sheds Everton paid nearly 30 million for him and he is now in championship, Zaha is different gravy too bolasie but does he like being big fish in small pond or will he thrive being one of many world class talents, the jury is out on that one!

10.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 19:17:58
Zaha is a player I love to watch; as long as it's not for my team. It was incredible how he could breeze past Milner when he was running at our goal, but suddenly couldn't keep up with him in the other direction.

Compare that with Mane and Firmino who chase back after everything, or Salah who made a clearance from our penalty spot late on.

Zaha is incredibly gifted, but to play at the highest level you have to be Messi-good if you want to stroll about waiting for the ball. Zaha has the quality to play for virtually anyone but his attitide is mid-table at best.

Then again, I said that about Shaqiri 😂.

11.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 19:18:46
Remember when he went to Utd and got homesick and couldn't kick a ball anymore? Unless he’s grown up a lot since, he needs to be in London with his mates.

12.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 19:21:39
Too inconsistent for me, failed at ManU.

He’s probably never going to leave London and possibly Palace.

Cheaper and better options are available.

13.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 19:32:02
StoneAge, those stories were put out because he’d been *allegedly* caught by Moyes with his daughter in a very compromising position.

{Ed0333's Note - he had to do something with his time as Moyes weren’t playing him.

14.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 19:38:10
Hailstones to be fair, Bolasie had a very nasty injury at Everton and that may have slowed him down. Even when he was at CP, Bolasie like Zaha, where highlight reel type players. They flash a lot BUT no consistency to their game over a period of time. Do the odd move, score the odd worldie BUT that's a bout it, really.

I would not want Zaha at LFC even as a rotaional player. He is simply not good enough to usurp any of the front 3 cos to get him, you would have to pay like say for ex. 65m for him. As a squad player, that is a non starter at that fee and crazy wages cos you don't pay that for a rotational player. And at 65m, that would mean he is replacing one of Salah or Mane.

Sorry BUT if anyone really thinks that Zaha can replace adequately Salah or Mane for the say 65m he would be commanding, then I propose you follow another sport cos clearly football is not your thing. Hence, Zaha is not good enough to play for LFC at this juncture REGARDLESS of how many stepovers he does. Oh, did I also mention that he is a serial diver?

{Ed0333's Note - good read that mate

15.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 20:28:44
What's the obsession with cheaper options, it should be the right options, and if right pay what is necessary.

16.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 21:05:46
“Cheaper AND better options are available”

Red Wolf has nailed it, he’d be a very expensive fringe player and is not consistent enough to play regularly in a top team.
He’s happy being a big fish at Palace.

17.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 21:15:34
Zaha was good today.

But I’d like to see us spend on strengthening our rb situation incase of injuries and instead of buying Zaha use Wilson and give the lad a chance.

{Ed025's Note - yeah jordz, because wilson has the same skill as zaha and the experience as well....come on mate..

18.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 21:38:56
Not saying there the same skill level ed. Zaha a good player but he blows hot and cold imo.

I’d just rather money in the realms of 60mill not be spent on someone that wouldn’t get in our first team unless Salah or mane moved.

Tbh typing I don’t know why I’m bothered not my money either way 😂.

19.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 22:34:54
Zaha, for me, is a really good player that I really don't like. The way he plays sometimes kinda show some sort of arrogance. I really don't know how to elaborate this, but that's what I felt everytime watching him.

20.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 23:00:01
Everton quality.

21.) 20 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 23:53:57
If you had a front 3 of Zaha, Mane and Salah you could play Firmino in an attacking midfield position, there are so many possibilities, we have room in our squad for another quality attacker.
I would take Zaha, I remember watching a pre season friendly a couple of years ago between Liverpool and Palace and Salah and Zaha were the best 2 players on the pitch.

22.) 20 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 23:55:03
It's always funny to read "a very expensive sub" again who's to say after working with Klopp and his team that he didn't make one of the front three places his? How does everyone know he won't? Look at the confidence Solskjaer has imparted on Rashford, who's to say Klopp wouldn't do that with Zaha, at times the guy is just poetry in motion.

Fergie bought great players to compete with his first 11 every year and he did pretty well, we shouldn't be just thinking of back up players, get players to push the first 11, it can only improve us as a team, just my opinion though.

23.) 20 Jan 2019
20 Jan 2019 05:03:50
Was that one of Zaha’s good games? I saw him skin an aging, stand-in full back a couple of times (sorry James) and get tackled doing one too many stepovers but nothing exceptional. He has skill and pace in abundance to tear past defenders but didn't make the most of it at all. He should be dominating his wing every game but got caught on the ball half the time and didn't seem like he was rich in football intelligence. As the OP said, a no-brainer (although he probably meant it a little differently) .

{Ed0333's Note - I think you nail it Virgil he was up against James Milner that world class right back. Of course he’s gonna look like a decent winger. However Klopp was generous with his superlatives labeling Zaha ‘world class’ in his post match BBC interview.

24.) 20 Jan 2019
20 Jan 2019 06:54:50
Zaha may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but considering we are currently playing Keita in the left wing, which frustrates and baffles me by the way, I’m not having that Zaha would not be more effective than him. Keita needs a confidence boost badly.

{Ed001's Note - and you would boost that confidence by buying Zaha to replace him? Bizarre.}

25.) 20 Jan 2019
20 Jan 2019 09:21:08
I'd love to know what more Keita needed to do yesterday? He created a goal despite being up against the most in form right back in the league.

His all around game is always decent but his final decision or end product normally let's him down. Yesterday, it didn't.

I've mullered him ever since He nailed his team mate in RBL training. But yesterday I thought he did a decent job 🤷‍♂️.

{Ed025's Note - nah MK he was awful again mate, we all expected a lot better from him and of course some will want to make excuses for him because we know what a good player he was at RBL, but the fact is its just not happening for him at the moment im afraid..

26.) 20 Jan 2019
20 Jan 2019 10:03:37
I'd have to agree that a good Zaha looked amazing simply because he was up against Milner. But then many of us may remember that he gave TAA a hard time the last time they faced each other too.

Between a Zaha and a Joao Felix though, I would take Joao Felix, hands down (both at around 65Million being the criteria) . We need creativity in midfield far more than we need another speedster to run up and down the pitch.

But if Zaha wanted to come to us, I would open the door with a warm welcome. Klopp is no miracle worker but he has thus far done a good job of keeping disgruntled noises down, on field selfishness down to a minimum and team focused entirely on just winning in all the ways possible. So I would expect him to correct what many see as Zaha's failings.

27.) 20 Jan 2019
20 Jan 2019 11:06:44
Ed025, I thought he was way over hyped at RBL to be honest. I got slaughtered when we signed him for calling him a petulant liability.

He's been terrible in virtually every game this season. He showed glimpses against West Ham and Burnley but still had no end product. Yesterday was the first time I actually watched him and thought "he might make something happen here".

Wasn't vintage, but it's the totally wrong game to be slaughtering him for. It may be by default, but it was still his best game so far 😂.

{Ed025's Note - all i can say then is if thats him at his best MK...then god help you.. :)

28.) 20 Jan 2019
20 Jan 2019 11:18:22
Just out of interest, what is Keita’s best position, whether that’s in a 3 or with 2 deeper?

{Ed025's Note - on the bench..

29.) 20 Jan 2019
20 Jan 2019 12:46:05
I think he’ll be Ok, we haven’t seen his best yet.
However, when we were chasing him he was being hyped up as “Kante but better at attacking”.

I think he’s a long way from that 🤝.

30.) 20 Jan 2019
20 Jan 2019 13:30:18
He should play behind the main striker but firmino has taken that roll with salah moving up top

So what does that mean

Means he needs to work harder then ever before in training and when the CL is back on take his chance when we rotate

There is a nice break before our next match now and if i were a player struggling id be first in and last out in training working harder then anyone in the squad

Ask players around the club for help coaches anyone and everyone for guidance and help as a lot of players came through hard times.

31.) 20 Jan 2019
20 Jan 2019 13:46:46
Keita will be just fine. Sometimes it just takes a little more time for players to adjust. I'll stick by my earlier statement that he will end up being a very important player for us this season.

32.) 20 Jan 2019
20 Jan 2019 12:49:55
God help us Ed? We’re top of the league by seven points and 30 points clear of you. If anyone needs help from god then I think it’d be your lot.

{Ed025's Note - i think we need a lot more than that sam, but the point was about keita mate who has been very poor up to now to say the least..
