Morning Ed! and what a fine morning it is! what a result last night mate, really chuffed about that. Bring on whoever is next in the CL (hoping for Utd), we are untouchable in that form. Have a great day mate.

{Ed001's Note - it is a beautiful morning mate.}

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed.}

Lol same here Lerchy, I'm so positive about this team it's unreal and imo we're getting the attacking football of last season back at the perfect time.

You have a good day too mate.

Cheers for the write up ed01. I worked for a couple of games as a steward and was sent to the away end with zero training. I'm no hard nut, I fact I was quite slight back then.

I think stewards need to be trained and paid better. Most of them do Coldplay one week, reading the next and then the bridge. The youth of today are effing crazy and people running onto pitches to have a pop at a rival player. Imagine some utd supporter stabbing vvd?! 200mil down the drain and a nice bloke dead or with a career in tatters.

No one wants to go back to cages so stewards being highly trained seems the answer.

I was once at a Palace Millwall game, in the Palace end 2 Millwall thugs took off their jackets and had blue shirts on, they battered quite a few lads while the stewards shat themselves and did nothing until the police interveined.

What do you the eds and reds see as a solution. Education in the long run of course.

{Ed001's Note - maybe stewards need to be like bouncers and the like and require proper training and certification? Most of them right now are just fans.}

Morning Ed, great result last night. Mane of the moment is at it again, one Allianz (competitive) appearance, one victory. Not many clubs can say that.

Agree completely on the England squad. I don’t think Foster will ever get back in, but I think he’s too underrated, certainly as a stopper. Unfortunately Southgate, like all other England managers, appears to be a loyalist first and foremost. Trippier and Tarkovski are unlikely to be dislodged very easily and Delph is seen as a somewhat of a utility player so maybe if Rice is successful, Delph will make way. Still, with Gomez injured you would have thought that's a perfect reason to bring Coady in. I would never believe he’d drop Trippier for Wan-Bissaka, it’ll take injuries or similar to get a look in there, I think.

{Ed001's Note - Coady can cover midfield too, so he is a utility player.}

Funny you say that Ed1 mate because some stewards at certain grounds need the SIA license but I know for a fact many grounds (possibly the majority) don't and like you say they are just fans. Why don't they all need the licence? it gets me that one it really does because the licences are very easy to obtain and they get, I believe (may be wrong) 4 days training, relevant training so why aren't they all getting it.

{Ed001's Note - before the certification came in, I did a bit of security work for a friend's firm. The licenses are easy to obtain, but the reason I stopped was the cost of getting it was just not worth it for me who only did odd bits, like a steward would.}

Makes sense ed01, cheers for the reply.

{Ed001's Note - at Prem level there is surely no reason for the Premier League to not have some kind of certification and training for matchday stewards?}

Yeah that's true Ed I know what you mean mate and for the odd hour or two a week it just isn't worth it.
I k ow a few years ago (I'm not sure if it still stands) the unemployed, if they have a job to go into they can get a free licence funded by the job center which is good but I think the majority of stewards will have full time jobs and are like you correctly say, just fans so they won't be able to get one for free. I suppose for an example, me, I wouldn't go pay whatever it is to do it for an hour or 2 a week lol bugger that and I think it's around the £300 mark now. No chance.

{Ed001's Note - my aunt is a steward with Everton and they do give a bit of training and regularly meet to discuss any problems expected with the next match. They pay her very little but she does it because she loves EFC. I can't see her wanting to fork out the money, if she could afford it. But then, imo, Premier League clubs should be paying for the training of their staff.}

BTW, I've been highly impressed with coady. It's criminal if he doesn't get a shot in an England shirt. I wouldn't be adverse to swapping him for lovren or matip. Seems a top lad too. Thoughts?

Robbiesline, sorry mate but I don’t rate Conor Coady as good enough for Liverpool. He is great as ‘sweeper’ in a back three at Wolves but for me he is not as good as either Lovren or Matip - at least, not for a Liverpool team that plays a back four.

Well Ed1, you've hit the nail on the head right there mate.

'Premier League clubs should be paying for the training of their staff. '

Exactly! A few hundred quid per steward is hardly expensive to the PL clubs, even the championship teams, its nothing! But imo mate it's all greed.

{Ed001's Note - very true, they think nothing of spending millions on players but everything else seems to get skimped on.}
