What did Barcelona think they were getting. Courts isn’t iniesta and no one can be he was that good! It seem like the fans mite be looking at the amount of money paid for him and expecting more than what he is.

Morning ed, thanks for that. Quick question regarding Coutinho, obviously the fans haven't taken to him, do you know what he's thought of by the coach and players? He seems to be seriously struggling.

{Ed001's Note - Valverde would be happy to offload him.}

Be interesting to see if he came back to the Premier League Ed001, especially after his family saying how much they wanted to move away.

{Ed001's Note - he might not have much choice.}

I'm so happy we got rid when we did, we had a lucky escape imo.

Good morning Ed and all my fellow reds. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Bazza, I hope you are happy back on here and not missing H too much on the City pages....}

Know I'm on my own with this opinion but I do feel sorry for Coutinho. The guy isn't English and his dream was obviously to play for Barcelona over Liverpool which is fair enough, he just went about forcing the move the wrong way.

The guy did some great stuff for us and won us plenty of games so it's not nice to see that its gone so wrong. Really don't want to see him at another prem club though!

I'd take him back if he was happy to be a back-up player;)

{Ed001's Note - was it a dream or was it the huge sum of money they offered him to join them that made it a dream to play for them?}

I know that Coutinho left the club in an unsavoury manner - so did Van Dijk at Southampton - but it’s still a shame that his move has turned sour.
Prior to his head being turned, everyone said he was a decent lad. I remember Macca posting as much.
Hey ho, I just hope he doesn’t end up at Chelsea. Please!

he left like suarez did under dubious circumstances both chose Barcelona as did michael owen and macca going to real madrid although not under bad feelings
anyone who leaves us we are unhappy but then manner in which the Barcelona duo left us left for me a bitter taste and as such I care no more for them and hope to never ever see any luis or pipco in a reds shirt again
but I do not wish them bad I hope they find happiness everywhere else in life.

I liked Coutinho when he was here. He gave us some wonderful moments and then went about it the wrong way to get his move. I think his move shows how the dynamics are so different at other clubs and a transfer isn’t as simple as it is on football manger. Sometimes a round peg doesn’t go into a round hole. If he does move on I believe he is still good enough to rejuvenate himself. And to be honest I wouldn’t bet against it happening at Barcelona next year. His back injury left a sour taste in LFC fans mouths but for me I am not bitter about it. We got great money for him and then spent it extremely well.

I have been saying to family and friends that, to me, if we knock Barcelona out of the CL and one of Suarez or Coutinho cry. It would make my year.

Especially if it was Suarez!

Cheers Ed, If you read the Van Gaal quotes in the style of Donald Trump it really makes sense. It’s like reading Soccer by Trump, him and Van Gaal even look alike.

As for Couti Couti Cou, it’s hard to feel sorry for a multi millionaire who brought it upon himself, but it just goes to show that these golden shores of Spanish giant football sometimes have crap floating in the sea. They are one fickle and ill educated bunch of fans it seems (Real have another), when the club brings in a player with a view to replacing a legend of course it’s not going to work out. I mean, are they just going to treat Messi’s eventual successor the same? I think so, but the player will get blamed, not the club.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair to van Gaal he has a point. Solksjaer is parking the bus.}

I always thought Coutinho would have been a better fit for Real than Barca. The fact that the Barcelona board actually thought of him as a potential Iniesta replacement shows how much Barcelona have fallen over the years.

Yaya, you can play as much football as you like, it's just that nobody wants to give you money to do so.

The people I have the biggest issue with over their moves are Owen and Mascherano. Sterling was a fool too because of his conduct but he was young and poorly advised. I don’t think he’d make the same mistake now he’s grown up a bit. Not bothered about any other moves to be honest.
Owen lied to the club and the fans saying he was definitely going to sign a contract but his ‘agent was on holiday’ or his ‘horse ate the contract’ all the time he was looking for a move away. Rafa sorted that situation out.

Mascherano disrespected the club by refusing to come back from his summer holiday and refusing to take phone calls from the manager in order to force a move.
