Not the most exciting football I've ever seen, but it also shows Liverpool's growth in maturity over the last 12 months. They knew they had the upper hand in this match once they scored, and they played the percentages perfectly to limit Tottenhams chances and back themselves to score a second. A very professional performance that says volumes about where we are right now - capable of winning matches any number of ways - which is what's required to be the very best.

Congratulations Reds, you've made us incredible proud this season, and thoroughly deserved winners, it would have been a travesty to end up empty handed after the way this teams played this year, but also after last years dissappointment.

I think this will be massive in terms of getting the 'also rans' tag off Klopp and this squads back heading into next season. I expect the confidence boost to be huge for the squad and back us to challenge heavily next year in the PL.

{Ed025's Note - the fans were brilliant and the singing amazing where i was SG, pity really that we witnessed the most insipid boring cup final in the history of sport, what should have been a showcase of english football turned out to be the dampest squib ever im afraid, congratulations to the reds of course but its a pity none of the teams turned up..

That’s what happens when you decide to play the final in June. 3 weeks after season has finished.

{Ed025's Note - i was just hoping for so much more benny, liverpool have played some great football this season and spurs are usually a good team to watch, i suppose the goal came too early but i was surprised that liverpool shut up shop after 2 minutes, im glad the reds got something out of this season though mate..

Ed025 while it was not an entertaining game in the slightest both Milan Vs juve and united Vs Chelsea were worse finals than this one. I'd place this third on the last of dullest finals ever.

{Ed025's Note - its top for me nevada, mainly because these are two teams who have been entertaining all season i suppose, when everton are in it in a couple of years i hope we perform better than that mate.. :)

I just feel sorry for all football fans everywhere that they had to sit through that dross and then to top it off, watch us lift the trophy. Dark days indeed. Six of them, to be precise.

{Ed025's Note - love it RITWW..

Last night wasn't about making a showcase it was about bringing the trophy home, we was so close a year ago, all the hard work was done I the semi final, last night was a great professional performance.

{Ed025's Note - it was all about winning MR i agree but did it have to be such a borefest?, this is apparently the showcase of european football, but it ended up being like a sunday league game and a bad one at that mate..

Very boring final overall but I don't care how it was done, point is, we did it and I couldn't be more proud of this team! bring on the 7th ;) .

{Ed025's Note - and im glad your so easily pleased mate.. :)

The way we played is proof that Klopp has learned from his mistakes. Last year we were all over the place causing the players to be nervous and the substitutions were bad too.

This year Klopp had a clear plan and i feel he outsmarted his opponent and made vital subs at the right time (something he wasnt been good at) . It was a boring game but a controlled game.

{Ed025's Note - if the klopp plan included scoring early then shutting up shop and boring the arse off the watching public in the showcase event of european football then it worked a treat..

I think the 3 week break affected both sides and were looking rusty. That much time to prepare and focus for 1 huge game can also add nerves and pressure. Both teams looked so sloppy at times and the early goal prevented us from risking an open game.

The difference with this side is the defence can now be trusted to soak and deal with pressure. Recent Liverpool sides since rafa left would rarely be able, we always needed to score a few goals. Klopp made the right approach to get the win, 2 early proactive subs too was good to see. 30° heat didn't help the contest either, bound to slow 2 high energy running teams to a degree. I couldn't care less though haha.

{Ed025's Note - yeah har maybe they were tired after playing 90 minutes a week for 8 months, and players like salah, firmino and mane are not used to heat like that coming from where they hail from, its a very tough life being a professional footballer these days mate...i will factor that in from now on..

I think we’re all forgetting Steau Bucharest vs Barcelona and Red Star vs Marseille. Now they were dour games! I don’t suppose anyone from those two clubs care a jot now. It was a pretty bad games last night but I’ll always remember it for Origi’s goal, oh and number 6 in the bag😃.

{Ed025's Note - i will remember it for being a great night with all singing all dancing liverpool supporters and an atmosphere in the pub being second to none devon, its a pity that the football spoilt the occasion slightly because it was absolutely dire mate, and a lot worse than any of the games you mentioned there my friend..

I think spurs and Liverpool are getting harsh attention drawn to this poor game. Both sides have given so much entertainment on the way. 2 amazing gutsy semi final comebacks, spurs took city out in a goalfest and we also dominated bayern. Plenty of goals and attacking styles and also dramatic moments to get out of group stages.

Overall it was a cracking champions league, so many moments, United comeback against PSG, ajax toppling juve and real Madrid. 2 of the greatest semis and last minute var decisions knocking city out. Finals with clubs from same country always annoy me.

I never said they were tired once, just rusty from lack of recent game time. It's obviously easier to play in 10-15° degree heat than 30 no matter where you're from, I'm not making excuses just suggesting possible factors for that dull dreary game.

{Ed025's Note - one of the factors may be that klopp was so desperate to finally win something that entertainment had to be sacrificed, it worked though even though i must say i feel for the fans who paid extortionate amounts of money to go to madrid and witness crap like that mate..

Did you have a good day out Ed25 mate? did you have your Liverpool shirt on? ;) I know you did, go on, admit it! hahaha hope you had a good one mate.

{Ed025's Note - i had a great time salah, the booze was flowing from 4pm and the atmosphere in the allerton oak was amazing, i never wore red though thats a bit beyond the pale for me but in the ensuing frenzy of the origi goal i may just have joined in a chorus of allez allez allez, i do remember the highlight of the game though....it was a throw in on the half way line mate.. :)

as a neutral can imagine it wasnt a great watch. That all italian final and the manU v chelsea finals were both utter dross in terms of teams cancelling each other out and not playing. This one was more like two rusty teams. Ah well I don't care!

{Ed025's Note - i dont either faith, i had a cracking day until i got home and found out i had lost my key, i had to get the enemy up from her slumber and she had a face like harry kane mate.. :)

Red Star Belgrade v Marseille must be the worst final of all time, Red Star played for penalties. It was shocking and must have put millions of kids off ever playing football again.

{Ed025's Note - that game was a feast to the eyes compare with yesterdays debacle greenflash..

That's a good point actually ed. I remember in the Europa league final against Seville in his first year we were 1 up and cruising, we weren't capable as a team back then to suffocate and kill a game. It's not pretty but winning is what we needed. I'm sure every single red who made that great commitment to be in Madrid will have enjoyed every second of it. It's the neutrals who have been left frustrated with that showing

It's sad to see the chaos and costs that these finals are now demanding. I saw that a fella was selling his ticket a few hours before kick off outside the ground. He was given 10,000 in cash there and then by somebody for it. Complete madness.

{Ed025's Note - yeah its complete madness har...£10,000 to watch that sleep inducing pile of crap...thats 3000 beer vouchers and at least 20 doner kebabs mate.. :)

15.) 02 Jun 2019
02 Jun 2019 09:41:05
Course he was desperate, we could have gone for it and maybe lost, you would then be saying Kloppo blew another final. Can't win!

{Ed025's Note - fair point mate..

Ed25 Hang on a minute, are we suddenly looking for style points now in a CL final? Rubbish, bro. As any coach or player will tell you, a final is only great IF you win and for us and Klopp, nothing else matters so the people who want entertainment for a final can go watch the 2013 CL final between Dortmund and Bayern.

I actually thought is was a decent game, not great of course. People saying it was a borefest should give their heads a wobble, IMO. I have much WAY more dire CL finals than this one. If you are looking for a borefest of a CL final, I propose you go watch the 1998 final btw Real Madris and Juve, 2003 final btw Milan and Juve or the 2010 final btw Inter and Bayern well, if you can get through any of these games w/ o jamming a fork through your hand, just to check if you still have a pulse while watching.

{Ed025's Note - if you really thought that was a decent game red wolf then you need to visit goodison a bit more mate, it was a pathetic excuse for a game of football and even the more biased of reds will say the same, my point was that it was a good opportunity for us to promote the english game in europes elite competition, but instead of game of thrones...we gave them crossroads..

This might have already been asked and answered but with half the tickets only being allocated officially to clubs how exactly is the other 30000 or so spread out? I understand that UEFA officials etc and the stadiums club too get a share. But who else gets large allocations or is it too complicated to nail down? It's so wrong to see the way UEFA and FIFA are sucking the love and passion away from the fans so blatantly. The Europa league was a disgraceful setup, finals being hosted in areas that realistically will be competed by sides from other side of continent. Kyiv last year too, and United Chelsea travelling to Moscow. Qatar hosting the world cup has zero football sense, only monitary. Steps need to be taken to stop this as it's only getting worse every year.

{Ed025's Note - im with you har..

My guess Ed025 is that the fans in Madrid gave even less of a toss about the quality than us here at home, just imagine how they would have felt at the final whistle - the cost of being there would be truly irrelevant. Early goals in big finals often spoil the game, both teams had their finest moments on the way there, to moan too much about the actual final seems a bit churlish I reckon.

{Ed025's Note - maybe its just me johnny..
