Ed01, I hate to ask but are you going to do a match review? I'd recommend all 10's if you do and maybe an 11 for Alisson. He and VVD have truly made a HUGE difference. I can't help but wonder how many of the few opportunities Spurs got would have gone in against almost any other keeper. Also, there was a tackle by VVD against Son that isn't getting as much attention as I think it should. it was very subtle as he made it look easier than it really was. Just wondering what your thoughts were on those points.

{Ed001's Note - I am going to do it tomorrow, but I won't do the usual one with ratings. Just an overview of the match. I don't want to get into individual performances as they had not played for 3 weeks and it was far too hot. It was like the first game of pre-season, players were just not right and it was a huge mistake to schedule the end of the Prem season so much earlier than everyone else's seasons. Typical of the morons running the Prem to continually mess about and leave things in a mess. They need to schedule things in line with everyone else, including the transfer window.}

They all should get 6. Oh wait they did.

I agree. there is much too much criticism of the match in my opinion. No one was taking into consideration the temperature. As hot as it was, it was even moreso on the pitch. I understand why the match was a little slower not only the heat but the 3 weeks off. Can you tell me what you thought of Alisson please? I don't think I'm overstating how huge he was in that match am I? I'm sure the goal looked much smaller to Spurs because of Alisson. It was almost like they knew their shots had no chance.

{Ed001's Note - he was outstanding. His positioning is top class. It is not just that though, he is commanding and has some excellent kicking to aid him.}

Ed1, I have the opinion of, Alisson is the best keeper in the world right now, would you agree or? if not who do you think is? just interested to hear your opinion mate, I know you rate him highly but do you rate him as the best?

{Ed001's Note - I was just saying to Ed0333 that he is the best I have seen overall. Right now he is the best in the world, DDG has had such a bad couple of seasons he can not be considered as the best currently.}

Completely agree, if he carries on performing like that, he'll be a legend. Well, he already is in my eyes. Cheers mate.

yeah, I agree as well. I'm trying really hard not to look at this through red tinted glasses, as I'm sure Ed025 would accuse me of, but I can't help but think that 1 or 2 of the opportunities that Spurs had would have been goals agains almost anyone else including Ederson, Llloris and De Geil. He makes some difficult saves look pedestrian because of his outstanding positioning. I think that is why people like Ed025 don't give him the credit that he deserves. What they are missing is that a lot of times when outstanding saves are required, it is because of poor positioning.

{Ed025's Note - i am actually a big fan of alisson stone and i dont know when i have not given him credit mate, him and VVD are the reason liverpool have gone from also rans to premiership contenders..

Ederson is as good as Alisson two very good keepers.

{Ed025's Note - its very close ace, ederson is brilliant with his feet but i feel alisson just shades it with his agility mate..

The thing is, he made a couple of errors this season and we never once gave him criticism. That is the perfect testament to his quality, we have pure trust in him. All his saves yesterday looked routine, you'd be angry if he didn't save them. But what he always did was get the ball away from danger, that's a hugely underrated ability for keepers. He always gets a strong hand and pushes the ball wide, he dealt with every catch and every punch with ease. It's funny to compare the outcome of 12 months ago to now, we lost a scrappy game due to a nightmare keeper performance. This year we had a keeper who could keep a clean sheet and win. His fee is already justified in my eyes.

Napoli, Barcelona, spurs. 3 absolute season defining games this season, he not only kept a clean sheet in every one of those games but he directly influenced the outcome of each. Last minute block napoli, 5 or 6 quality saves needed in the semi. If Barcelona scored at any point the tie was probably lost. And the final he was flawless. For a goalkeeper to have that much say and influence in crucial moments to win a champions league is amazing. Huge love for him. I never make opinions on worlds best because i always think to judge a keeper properly you need to watch him every game., I don't get to see GK around Europe often enough to compare but I wouldn't swap him for anyone for sure. How's oblak performed of late does anyone know?

Ed001, just to check, Alisson is the best keeper you have seen in the context of our players only or overall I. e the schmeichels and the kahns? I still cannot believe he’s playing for us mate. He’s just unreal for the whole season, and with scope to improve as well!

{Ed001's Note - Schmeichel and Kahn couldn't kick a ball. As an overall keeper, because the game has moved on so much, he is the best.}

vvd did really really good.

Just would like to ask for opinion from ed001
did vdv made a mistake by rashing out and try to make a tackle which didn't work out, leaving son running with ball facing the net and we were so lucky that the ball was cleared by our wonder boy Arnold accidentally?

{Ed001's Note - it wasn't accidental, watch and see how he hangs a leg out just at the right time to block the ball.}

ed001 Alisson reminds me of David Seaman in his prime at arsenal makes every thing look so easy because he all ways seems to be in the right position. So he never seems to have to make the glory looking saves Because of it. Ederson is great with his feet and so fast coming off his line but I do think Alisson positioning is by far better. Am sure his save percentage was better and it was his first season what says even more for him.

{Ed001's Note - Seaman was average, it was made to look easy because it was playing behind that Arsenal team that never conceded chances, not because he was good.}

Ed, you got on to some of us for suggesting that Alisson was better than Ederson. You were probably just trying to keep us in check. I get it. Nothing but respect for you.

{Ed025's Note - cheers mate

You truly are a star Eds 025, as unbiased as anyone I've met.

Did you venture into town today, looked a great day to be a Liverpodlian.

I saw us knock what? 5 past him last season. Then in the world cup he didn't look amazing.

But i believed when everyone was saying how good he is. And now, i wouldn't swap him for any keeper in the world. Does that make him world class?

I guess it does.

Ed025 me old mucker, without sounding bitter I seem to remember you said Pickford and Allison were very similar ability wise early in the season, I take it your views have since shifted over to the red side a tiny smidgen🤔.

{Ed025's Note - just a little bit virgil, i think alisson is better in the air, better on the floor, is more agile, commands his area better, marshalls his defence better, is better on crosses and quicker off his line, but besides that there is nothing much between them mate.. :)
