All this talk of needing new signings and not standing still is very true but IMO we should actively start promoting youth and give them a real chance at making at Liverpool. We could have the next Fowler, Owen or Gerrard in our own youth system. We should only be looking at a Major big money signing if one of the big players likes Salah or Mané leave and let the kids we have fill the gaps on the bench that people are desperate to throw millions at. Just my opinion and I’m sure a lot will disagree.

Am just worried about the team strength and not bothered about how much these players cost. It could be 1 mill or 100mill makes no difference to me!

I mostly agree the trouble with it is that it's very difficult to do whilst sustaining a title campaign or a champions league run. I'm surprised more young players haven't done what jaydon sancho has and moved away from the top clubs in search of regular playing time at the highest level, you rarely become a superstar when your sustained run in a team comes at 23 you need to be getting that at 18/ 19/ 20 and I think youngsters are starting to realise that.

Totally agree Den. If you look at the likes of Fowler, Owen and Gerrard the we’re in the team very young and given the chance to prove they had what it took at the highest level. And I’m sure you will see a lot more young talent doing what Sancho had the balls to do. It would be a real shame if we let a diamond in the rough slip through our net.

Personally feel we should get lovren and lallana off our books. Their replacements and a back up left back are all we need. Lovren is dodgy and lallana too injury prone.

A fit lovren is ahead of Matip for me. Worth seeing how Lallana does this season now he’s fully recovered from his injury woes. As a fan it’s tempting not to care about fee’s with some saying “hey it’s not my money”, but it wasn’t long ago this club almost went into administration. The club have done a great job recently of buying big without going crazy, And I’d rather that continue. Wait for the Alisson’s and Van Dijks not the bentekes and carrol’s.

Youth stepping up always helps ala Trent. I can’t be the only one who has high hopes for Brewster this season.

I have high hopes for Brewster also Eamon. My worry is if he isn’t given the chances the season and we buy another forward that would be ahead of the lad in the pecking order then he will do exactly what Sancho did and go elsewhere in search of first team minutes. As a youngster trying to make it in the game seeing this happen all the time must be very frustrating and a knock to the confidence.

I agree LFC 80, but I’ve heard nothing reliable about us seeking out another striking option. I think he’s very much in Klopp’s plans this season. Sancho’s success is likely to have knock on effects and I suspect other members of the youth team will grow frustrated as they’re not offered the chances Brewster will be afforded.

I wouldn't put too much pressure on Brewster tbh, but I agree he is a real talent with natural finishing ability. Needs to work on his link up play in general but that will come provided he is given chances to play like trent. Definitely don't think we need another striker with him and divock as backup.

People had better calm down and take it easy with Brewster cos regardless of how talented he may be, he is still a rookie and a kid at this level and as someone who has played the CF position, it is a very difficult position to play esp. as a teenager. The few players I have seen tear it up consistently as a teenager Shevtchenko, Fowler, Owen and of course, O Phenomeno Ronaldo and Brewster is no where near the solar system of these guys and IMO, the best CF to ever play the game, neck and neck with the Dutch Maestro Marco Van Basten.

We need to be patient with Brewster (esp. coming of a dreadful injury) and let him learn and grow cos I am weary of him suffering the same fate as my LFC Legend Divvy Origi, who got so much pressure put on him as a youngster and nearly got run outta town cos he was not being Harry Kane or Ronaldo (O Phenomeno) fast enuff for them i. e being impatient with him. Patience (lots of it) will be needed if Brewster is to become the player we all want him to be.

No one has put any pressure on Brewster Redwolf I simply said I hope he gets a chance this season and we don’t buy another striker for our bench and he gets some minutes. I have high hopes for him yes but I also know he is only young and still learning but he can learn from the best being in and around the first team each week.

No prob, LFC 80. I was not referring to you, specifically. I was making a general point, referring to many on here and on other fan sites, gassing up Brewster as the next big thing while forgetting he is just a kid, is yet to play an official senior game, is recovering from a dreadful injury etc. I am all for him getting a chance cos clearly, Klopp believes in this kid BUT the fans are who I am weary of with their penchant for overnight success. We can't discount that, my friend.

He strikes me as the type of player who would thrive on pressure (brewster) and i think in shaq, origi, brewster and lallana we have enough cover for the front 3.

I would like to see more youngsters making the step up into the first team. But not as much as i want to see us win the league again. If they're good enpugh i think klopp and co will know aboit it. If not then its sad but edwards is a master at getting good money for our (not quite good enough) youngsters.

And as much as i loved gerrard fowler and even owen, none of them won the league for us.

Just to add. I really think brewster looks great. Knows where to be, knows where the goal is. If not for his injuries he couldve been the next owen, we don't know. He is scoring now though. Only against weak opposition but you can only beat what's in front of you (even if that's a 18inch wide keeper in front of a 10 inch goal! )
Cant wait to see him against some tougher opposition.
