I've just looked at matches that are taking place in the coming week and I saw that the AFCON qualifiers are already starting next Friday.

Surely Mane isn't expected to play for Senegal against Liberia? The man hasn't had a break in 13 months.

It seems very odd to start the qualifiers just over a week after the tournament has finished. Am I missing something?

The groups were only drawn a couple of days ago, the preliminary rounds don't start until October to see what other 4 teams will join the qualifiers. So not sure where you seen that.

Nevermind i just seen what you are seeing. The Senegal vs Liberia game is only for players playing in the african leagues i believe. It's the African Nations Championship so players playing outwith Africa are ineligible.
