Is anyone telling me that a player of the quality of Bruno Fernandes wouldn't get in the team / add to the team / get sufficient game time?

1.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 08:02:56
I really can’t understand Klopp decisions this summer
He must be mad to thibk more quality isn’t needed
Does he really think we will be 20 points away from the rest of the teams like Chelsea arsenal!

Liverpool will finish 4th st best I thibk the summer prep has been rubbish so the front three will need till October to be warmed up and firing and by then Man City will be flying past teams

Ask yourselves one question — does this team today win the league? Cos ultimately that’s the aim and to me it doesn’t
Even spurs added quality to their alresdy huge squad
Brewster for Sturridge. Milner for Moreno . that’s klopp for u.

2.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 08:15:29red lobster? We are a better team than last year now. People are getting closer to their prime not past it, and we have the experience of winning things now. One preseason friendly and we’re going backwards.

3.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 08:18:35
Champions league trophy in the "already huge" cabinet. That's klopp for you.

Salah 34 mil
Keita 56mil
Alisson 50mil
Vvd 75mil
Fab 40mil

Thats more klopp for you. Ridiculous. I remember last summer people were saying klopp should go! Good thinking guys. We have a much bigger squad than spurs. And better. We got 97 points and a european cup and you think the boys are going to get done by spurs and chelsea? No chance. This is preseason. The team hasn't moved out of second gear yet. They will turn it on come august. Trust.

4.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 08:33:22
No one is saying Klopp should go Robbie but should always be in the market for quality players and Bruno Fernandes is exactly that and as Juicer said, would fit into our team perfectly.

I’d give him the injury prone Lallana’s wages all day long. Bit harsh I know.

5.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 08:59:47
Red lobster stop being bloody daft, for Christ sake. Always bloody one! clueless.

'does this team today win the league? Cos ultimately that’s the aim and to me it doesn’t '

We won the CL did we not? and any other year we would've won the league so stop spouting absolute nonsense.

6.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 09:03:23
I know its not going to happen but i would be happy if we only brought fernandes in this transfer he is a class player.

7.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 09:12:43
To my mind Fernandes is a very versatile attacking player, can play attacking midfield, can play as a number 8 in a midfield three, has also played on the wing and as a false nine. Oh, and he can score goals, lots of them.

8.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 09:16:00
I think lallana could surprise this year. Our players have a cannot way of doing so under klopp. Players we moaned about. We moaned about the ox and wondered why on earth we signed him. 6 months later he's a fan favourite, scorong and making big goals. Robertson, people laughed at us when we signed him! So klopp can't win. Unless he spends 50mil on a player that's no better than our current crop. I think fernandes could play in this team but i don't think he'd start. And he'd cost us something near 50mil! There are hundreds of players who could play in our team but we have like 8 senior midfielders, i don't think we need another tbh. Did you see aoc's pass for ginis goal? Better than any pass fernandes played. Yeah the lad scored a cracker but alisson would have caught that while looking for mane on the counter! It was a gk error, should never have gone in.

Im thinking this - okay we're not spending this summer. But i reckon there will be another big spend next summer, maybe january. That may keep you warm, you who are dying for an announcement. We have signed a CB. Okay he's a kid but he's a first teamer according to klopp. Keep checking for signings while i watch the ucl highlights. Over and over. Hendo lifting the biggun. that's what its all about. Have you not learnt to trust klopp. Trist wrote a brilliant article on him in the top 10 managers. I have to admit that i don't know much about a couple of them but fully agreed that klopp is number one. Look at what he took over. A team falling apart, our captain fantastic going, not even making europa league. In just a few years he has transformed us into one of the biggest teams in the world again. The boys are all superstars and you want to replace them.

That other lad we've constantly been linked with, cellabious (sorry bout the spelling) he's a kid! 45/ 50mil for a lad who rarely starts and plays for spain u21s! Not even edwards could get 50mil for him. Prices are crazy this year. I know we always say that but i've never seen it this crazy. Since the neymar move changed everything. Now players who wouldve been 30mil just 2 years ago are now said to be worth 60/ 70mil. And that doesn't sound too much compared to neymar and couthino. But inflation hasn't grown with the crazy price tags. We would be getting ripped off.

I agree that fernandes is better than lallana, but there's not that much in it and lallana probably isn't considered a regular starter, so you're replacing a back up player with another back up player. what's the point when we still have another 5/ 6 midfielders who would be infront of the lad?

9.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 09:18:03
Not harsh at all, Drogie. Lallana has been unproductive for years now, and simply isn’t good enough for our team anymore.
Fernandes would be a great addition in my opinion, would add a lot of skill to an already powerful midfield.

10.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 09:33:36
The clubs recent business shows we should trust the club IMO. If they don't want Bruno then maybe they think he doesn't fit within our system, and we are not in a position where we need to change the system for one expensive player just so we can say we invested in the team.
If someone is available that Klopp feels will add to the team then I'm sure they will go for them.
But I don't think the effect of keeping a group of players together for a year should be diminished.

Personally I am a huge believer in always improving and we have done that straight off with Ox (fingers crossed he can stay fit) . Keita and Fab, on paper, should be better after a year of PL experience. Trent is a year older and getting better with his experience. Robbo and milner are machines who won't rest on their laurels. The front three have another year of playing together under their belt but just need to learn to pass a bit more for the teams benefit.

Ideally it would be great if there was someone out there that could come in and be happy to rotate but with the transfer fees as they are, players wanting to be starters maybe a solution isn't available in the market. So, If the club decides we are ok as we are then I will be fine with that. Also should note that we have a bunch of youngsters that can fill in in emergencies, they can only get better if they are actually given minutes with the first team!

11.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 09:48:46
And Drogie who's wages are you going to give Lallana. Its all good and well signing players because you have a few players in the squad that have injuries a lot, but Lallana and lovren are on big wages and am sure if bids come in for these players Klopp would replace them but he can't replace them when there still there. The same would have be said about clyne till his injury with Clyne Lallana and Milner's contract up next season there might be a small chance Milner get's a new contract but the other 2 will go. Am sure Matip will get a new contract as his up to. You have to remember there is still players in the squad Klopp in inherited and just because we don't won't them does not mean other teams have to take them. The pricing Clyne out of a move as really back fired with the injury meaning not transfer fee and us paying his wages up for the rest of the season and all the medical expenses.

12.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 09:53:01
I seem to remember that red lobster is a manc.
Hes been quiet for a while. wonder why.

13.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 09:54:09
Lallana surprise us? LOL.
Yeah by not making the bench for 99% of out games. Bruno Fernandes is a classy player. Don't worry we have the Ox who looks like he forgot how to play ball.

14.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 10:10:17
Lowel, no disrespect meant mate but yes lallana has been mostly ineffective in the last two years but he was mostly injured in the last two years. Is he meant to score from the stands?

The fact is, we do forget what players have to offer when they have been out for a long time. Watching the ox tonight (he always tries, even in friendlies. There is something likable about that) i admit i had forgotton exactly what he brings to the squad. He is quality they we missed last year. It is a bit like a new player as we have a weapon we didn't have last year.

And i wouldn't write lallana off yet. he's no dumpling, he is an intelligent player. He surpised me last season. He came on and caused problems. He was more direct that he used to be. He has an advantage of speaking the language (no small barrier) he knows the club, there's no waiting 4/ 5 months for him to settle. Lallana isn't danny sturridge (better than keegans statement involving fractions) he wants to play, he wants to earn his wage. I bet he still has his eye on the england squad.

Ive seen him unlock some of the finest defences in the league on many occasions. And the other bonus of using lallana over fernandes is we save 50mil, which can be put towards a massive signing next summer. I don't like to think about it, coz im a massive fan, but salah may wish to leave. God knows why, we are as good as anyone else but we will need to bring in someone then. Maybe dembele? More like someone i've barely heard of. I had never taken any notice of mo salah before he signed. And, well nuff said.

15.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 10:17:13
Pointless talking about it as klopp has said we won’t be spending big money.

16.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 10:22:33
It’s is a worrying trend at Liverpool. We really should be building on the success of last year. I can’t see us being 20 points clear again this season. If we want the league players like Lallana should be sold to fund the like of Fernandes. It’s a definite step up in class and it’s how teams have always done it. Klopp and Mr Edwards might rue these decisions come Xmas. Or I might be eating my hat by then. Who knows. I think the CS and SC games will show us where we are at as I can’t see us putting out last seasons first 11 for those games. Mané definywont be ready and Salah and Bobby might be a week off. It’s going to be interesting that’s for sure.

17.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 10:38:27
The ox can't play? Did you see his assist? As good a final third pass as you will see. Pure class. These are friendlies. The teams we're playing are dying to beat us as European champions. But we are not playing at the top of our game. Yet.

Klopp has said that probably nothing much will happen. He's not lying to wind us up, but lower your expectations. Couthino, pepe, fernandes are not going to happen. We have good exciting players who weren't playing last year. Gomez is fit again. Alisson, firmino, salah and mane have not played these friendlies.

Before the friendlies its all "friendlies mean nothing, you can't judge the team on friendlies" we lose a couple and its the end of the world. I know you younger fans are not used to success, but we are liverpool. We are built on success, for success. We are standing in the doorway now. All we need to do is keep our heads. I think our recent success will make players like henderson, robertson, mane, origi, gini, van djike, gomez, alisson grow over the summer, addicted to trophies. They have earned this chance i believe. let's see if the boys handle being superstar ucl champions. It may go to their heads, we may become complacent. But i don't see it.

My only worry is the strikers being selfish (not bobby of course) there is 100% friendly competition between mane and salah. I think mane will be more confident than we have ever seen hin. That could be bad but i doubt it. Mane's composure always startles me. No matter who we play, he is cool as you like. But i wouldn't replace them.

18.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 10:53:58
What assist? You're must be kidding, you mean the pass that was straight at the defender? 99 times of a 100 the defender doesn't miss his clearance. I love the Ox but this is just delusion. Bruno played a lot better than Chamberlain yesterday so i have no idea what game you were watching. when being positive one must be real as well.

19.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 10:55:49
Robbiesline, no disrespect felt - just disagreement.
Lallana has made 7 PL starts out of a possible 76 in the last two seasons, and only played approximately 700 minutes of PL football in that time. That is simply not good enough.
In that time, he has made just a single goal contribution (an assist) .
In fact, in his Liverpool career to date (5 years) he has contributed 21 goals and 19 assists. That is a poor return for how long he has occupied a valuable place in the squad. He isn’t particularly creative or threatening and takes too long on the ball.
Also, I would dispute your point about unlocking some of the finest defences, especially the ‘many occasions’ part.
Lallana has an utterly paltry return against the other members of the big 6 (finest defences) with regard to goals and assists. He has played nearly 30 games against these teams and returned 2 goals (Arsenal ‘16, Man City ‘16) and less than 5 assists. It is simply wrong to state that he can unlock the best defences, it is exactly where he falls short as a player aside from his terrible fitness.
Fundamentally, we need better!

20.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 10:57:30
Younger fans. now that's funny! I have been supporting Liverpool through ups and downs for 28 years exactly. But Nice that you think am a kid just because my opinion is different and has more base in reality than yours!

21.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 12:17:31
No point comparing fernandes to lallana. Fernandes would not be coming to take his place as a bench warmer which is what lallana would be.

22.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 13:58:18
where is Lallana now?

23.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 14:57:18
And where does lallana end up after every International friendly - On the treatment bench.

24.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 15:08:24
Again lowell mate, no that isn't enough in two years but he was injured. Im pretty sure he didn't want to be injured. He was a regular for the national team and a regular for us.

The games in which he featured last season in between injuries he was actually pretty good.

Look, i don't expect him to start every game, not by a way. But i don't think fernandes would either. Who do you drop? Hendo? Milner? Fabhino? Keita? Aoc? Shaqiri? Gini? Oh wait, we have quite a lot of midfielders eh. And that doesn't include lallana. Weve got nearly 3 midfields. We have if you throw in trent, or wilson, kent.

Fernandes wouldn't play no8, fab does. I don't think he's that good that we would change our formation and style to incorporate him. Ill say this though, he may be one for the future.

And i can't believe people are questioning Aoc's ability! I am dumbstruck. Did you only start watching football last season? He was absolutely epic for us in his first season. HE WAS INJURED. How can he score from the treatment table? remember that goal against city. Wasn't it the first of the game? can't remember, but i remember the goal. It wasn't his only. He is a big reason why salah had such an electric second half of that first season. Alex was drawing defenders away from him and playing nice passes to the forwards.

And that pass last night didn't go to the defender did it mate, sorry i forgot your username. It went straight to gini's boot, who put it in the net. It was a beautiful pass, and very very difficult to play. Even played at amateur speed its a hard pass to play, but at that pace! The spin on the ball that curled it AROUND the defender straight to a red shirt. It was an assist that he played for and got. I just can't believe people are saying things like that about alex Honestly. Some fans put me off this beautiful game. he's done way more in the game than fernades. Fernandes has shone for a year or two in the Portuguese league, which is pretty poor. Aoc has shone in the premier league, where many of the worlds top players play. He has shone in the champions league. He was one of our three best players before roma. Top 5 definitely. His form was sky high and we (i know i did) loved him, despite being pretty skeptical when we signed him. He was a massive hit. A great signing. The final in kiev could have been different if the ox had been fit. Maybe.

25.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 15:54:37
Regarding wages, It was tounge in cheek grino, but whilst you’re on the subject of wages, how much are we wasting on other players for instance? A lot

If you’re happy with Lallana, that’s your prerogative.

26.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 15:59:59
Sorry, i got carried away. Maybe not hundreds of players. The point i was trying to make is our midfield is perfect for what we do. They just out work the opposition. You can see opposition losing heart. And they took us to the champions league. Every one of our midfielders had a part to play in our march to madrid, except Aoc who was injured, but played his part in making us a better team with a bigger reputation

Sorry if i was a bit rude maaaaa and lowell. I do understand your frustration in a lack of signings. Its what makes the summer bearable! But ill tell you calmly - This is the first summer in decades that i am not bothered if we sign anyone. We lost two squad players. DS was a great liverpool player in his prime. Moreno was a trier. Good luck to them. But with brewster and larouci/ lewis we have replaced them. I for one am happy that it hasn't cost us 80mil. And am excited that we have an 18 year old (who was popping in goals all through the preseason) who is deemed good enough for the first team. The lad certainly knows where the net is and he has the ability to put the ball in it. Origi has been tapping in goals too. He's gone up a level.

We don't need fernandes. Good player. Yes. Like i've said, could be one for the future. Is he in his last year of contract? Let utd have him and let's see how good he is against gini, hendo and fabhino. (in a competitive game) 50mil seems a bit of a risk. We have players who can create from midfield. I would take the ox over the Portuguese lad all day. But each to their own. Peace.

27.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 16:12:19
whats happens if Ox breaks down. If Gomez breaks down. If Kaita breaks down.
God forbid if one of the front 3 get injured for more 2 months. what then?
are we saying that Origi and Brewster can fill the gap?

28.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 16:31:19
If Ox and Keita breakdown we still have Milner, Hendo, Gini, Fab and Shaq Deciptikon.

Not like Ox and Keita featured all that much last season. Ox is fit again, Keita should be fit for the start of the season too.

29.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 16:51:21
If we lose 4 top players decelticon we are in trouble. What about if we lost vvd for a while! Its all part of football, its a risk.

Didnt we introduce a new fitness coach last season? Maybe it isn't just luck.

That can be said of any team though eh. I think origi could slip into the front three and they'd still be dangerous. didn't have bobby or salah against barca.

Again i apologise for my ranting. Adam lallana ain't all that and his return ain't great. I still say you have to take out 2 of those years as he didn't play. Tbh, i wouldn't mind him off the books, even if we didn't sign another AM. It would be nice to get a bit of new blood in. We lfc fans do seem a bit up ourselves atm but its not our fault! The team are really good. 2 ucl finals in a row. Imagine being a good little player looking to step up, you'd look at liverpool as a forward and say "when am i going to play? When there's an injury? " or an attacking mid, our midfield looks hard to break into. Players like keita and shaq, who both have bags of quality, struggling to get a game. There aren't hundreds of players who could play for us. Infact you would have to be something realky special to break into the team. Even at fb. Our 1st choice are demons, best in the division. Gk, cb, hard team to break into. Hard time to buy. Good job we got a good team.

30.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 18:28:57
Drogie I would of loved for Lallana and Clyne to be sold, and to be replaced but if no one wants them what can you do. They are still under contract.

31.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 19:13:50
Thats it isn't it grino. No one came in for them. What can you do?

32.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 19:21:14
Sick of hearing about Fernandez. The Portuguese league is very poor so there's a massive step up required to play in the PL. £50m-£70m is a massive gamble for me.

33.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 20:22:56
I am with drogie, lallana is dead wood, I have wanted bruno Fernandes since we were linked with him, honestly pisses me off we are relying on past failiures too get better as a team. This squad has room for improvement, we have just earned the most in a season for our efforts an are champions of Europe, yet we are finding solutions within the squad that are not there, especially left back an creativity in midfield .

34.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 20:23:57
Still a couple of weeks till the Transfer Market is closed so there is always a possibility of someone joining. I agree with Juicer and someone like Bruno Fernandes would be ideal as he could cover a few positions. Although I think Cornet is a more realistic option. Fernandes would certainly improve the first team but Cornet is more of a risk.

35.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 20:24:52
Wow did someone say spurs have a massive squad? Spurs are bare bones after the first 13/ 14 players.

Your judging a player v a team that is still missing 4 amazing players lol. do you think he would have that much space if he had to track back on mane bobby and mo?

we all want 100 million pound signings and such but wouldn't you want klopp to actually work with what he has as well? I know i do.

36.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 20:27:36
Salah, nobody is disputing that the first 11 is capable of winning the league, its the depth of squad that wins leagues and we don't have it.

37.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 20:31:10
I just do not understand the logic.

Lallana probably will not even be needed this coming season as per this past season. For some on here to suggest that we need to bring in Fernandes as Lallana is not good enough is just mind boggling when Lallana is at the bottom of the pecking order.

Fernandes is not going to join to sit on the bench and anyone thinking he will really have no clue.

Apart from Lallana we have Fab, Gini, Milner, Henderson, Shaqiri, Keita and Ox fighting for 3 places. That is 7 players excluding Lallana.

But let's sign Fernandes and have 9 midfielders for 3 places.

How on earth does that make sense? Kid in a candy shop with loads of cash in pocket logic.

I would not be surprised if Klopp signs backup for Robbo, backup for our front 3 and a GK if Migs had to leave.

Pipe dream if anyone thinks Klopp is going to sign another midfielder.

38.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 20:34:50
To judge our entire season coming up based on a few pre season friendlies, playing 80% of a team that won't be starting is ridiculous, I agree we should be making a few signings an attacking midfielder, a wide forward and full back cover, but the window isn't shut, klopp has had his time to judge the players he has during our pre season games, who says he won't go on and sign a few?

Think if he doesn't it may bite him in the backside. if we get any serious Injuries, but it will still be us and city battling for first, to say arsenal Chelsea and Tottenham will finish ahead of us is disgusting. Have some faith, season hasn't started.
