Finally have some time to post, but does anybody else think that goalkeepers are really going to struggle with the stricter penalty rules?
Bravo and Alisson could not get anywhere near the penalties that got fired into the corner.
Being unable to move from side to side seems to kill any momentum they would usually generate and obviously they can’t really commit to a side by moving over early.

Everyone needs to just practice smacking it into the top bin because goalkeepers have no chance xD.

It’s an appalling rule that will eventually make a penalty a foregone conclusion if it isn’t already (unexpected misses aside) .
Penalties are already hugely in favour of the shooter, we don’t need to make it more difficult for the keeper further still.

I thought the rule was that one of the keepers feet must remain on, or above, the goal line. Why would that stop them moving side to side?

Wasn’t the rule for a keeper to always be on their line anyway? It’s just now being policed with VAR.

Bravo moved side to side on every pen though. I was sitting right behind him.

Good job the actual rule wasnt enforced in '05. Dudek was on the edge of his 6 yard box when a few of those were taken! The rule has always been there in one form or another, it's just now it's easier to police it .

Be nice for them to enforce the 'no stuttering' rule for the penalty taker as well. Jesus would have had to take his again in that case. As already stated, it's hard enough for keepers as it is. This is a general comment, not just on yesterday's outcome.
