Morning all

A good win last night, bit worrying how open we seem in the last 2 games opposition seem to be getting plenty of chances against us. Ed001 why do you think this is please mate?

Also Ed I'm concerned what it might of taken out of the players with the extra time then the travel back probably today, only gives them Friday to recover then we are away at Saints 3pm Saturday. Few were cramping up and running on empty at the end.

You think we will be good to go again?

{Ed001's Note - because the centre backs are not yet gelling together, they need a run of games, like the whole team does. The confidence gained from winning last night will help.

They should still be high on adrenalin from last night and so be ok. It is in the weeks following that there may be a problem.}

I was thinking about this last night. Whilst not the most ideal way to win (ET I mean) . This is probably a massive positive given the boost it'll give Adrian with Alisson being out a while.

I was impressed with him overall last night and loved seeing how pumped he was afterwards. I am sure it'll do wonders for him in the coming weeks when as he is called upon.

I am not sure if it would be quite the same boost for the lad if they just won it in 90 mins.

The defence haven't had many games together due to international commitments etc. I think because of our defensive record last season we can look back with rose tinted glasses that no team managed an opportunity against us never mind scored!

Also, I hope the media keep bringing up our defensive issues, let teams attack and offer up more space. Give the front three space and they will tear teams to shreds. It's half the reason our defence was good last year, most teams were scared to attack us.

Ed001 the defence isn’t gelling no, with that in mind who would you play at CB right now? Matip or Gomez? Gomez is number 1 so wouldn’t it be better to allow him to gel with VVD again rather than let Matip get a run of games and then drop him?

{Ed001's Note - whichever duo started the season should have been kept together imo. Chopping and changing is not helpful. It doesn't help that VVD is looking out of sorts as well, defensively, though his passing from the back has been excellent. If VVD is on his game, then this doesn't really matter, he can carry the defence while the others get their game together. Right now, put a pair in and let them get settled in, there is no need to rotate for freshness this early in the season.}

With you there, Ed01. Matip and VVD formed a more than formidable pair down the stretch last season and we all knew how long that took. Klopp needs to pick a pairing and run with until further notice cos the chopping and changing to me, is starting to affect VVD cos he will have to adapt his game each time depending on who is next to him. Just my take, Ed.

{Ed001's Note - I don't mind which he picks so long as he stays with it.}

I think Gomez is the long term answer but agree Ed I would have started with Matip given his great form end of last season and made Gomez earn his way back in through sub appearances at CB and FB while getting fully fit.

That was what I wanted, as well SGRed. We have a hot hand at CB. Go with it until it goes cold n let Gomez fight to regain his place, the same way Matip did when he was not starting.
