Ed001 I thought it was great to see Ox play just about the full game and in the middle what I think is his best position. There was one point where he ran back to hold up Redmond should us his defensive side off his game. 135 mins of football in a week is great. I think He will soon be back to his best think he gives us such pace through the middle of the park.

{Ed001's Note - I thought he had a decent game as well, which bodes well for the season ahead.}

Ed001 I live him in the middle gives us something none of are other midfielders gives us and I did not know why we signed him seemed to be going nowhere with arsenal but Klopp pulled one out of the hat with him. As good as we was last season I think we missed him mire than city missed KDB I think he might have made up them 2 points we was short last season. Seems a great bloke too I thought today was a great result after Wednesday night.

{Ed001's Note - you could well be right, he would have made a real difference that is for sure.}

If he can keep fit I think he has potential to take captaincy after henderson.

{Ed025's Note - talk about out of the frying pan into the fire berg, there is only one player liverpool have who should captain the side...and thats VVD, the rest of them are just pretenders mate..

Pretenders is a bit strong 25 😂😂😂 there’s a few that stand out for me (near future) but VVD is certainly in pole position as it stands.

{Ed025's Note - 1 horse race for me para mate..

I respectfully disagree that it's a one horse race. I think Ox or Firmino would both be excellent captains as well as VVD.

His first 45 mins weren't great to be fair but that was the same for every player as we could hardly string 2 passes together. Second half he looked confident and composed which was cool to see him performing like the OX of 18 months ago. Going forward i still think there's potential for him to improve big time in and around the box. Improvement in his timing of runs, fast link up play and a more clinical end product I hope we can see from him as that would be an exciting prospect.

The reason why we're so good is because we have a team of leaders. Robertson, Henderson, Milner, Virgil, Mane, Salah and Lallana have all captained at club or international level. Firmino, Alisson, Gomez, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Chamberlain and Arnold are all players who have shown leadership qualities too.

Certainly not a team of pretenders when it comes to captaincy. Personally I think Trent will be the next captain. He will probably take it from Henderson in 3 years time.

The OX was missing in the first half and we looked poor. Second half different story on both fronts. 6 points and haven't played great in the first half of either game. Hope alli is back soon.

Top dog- “we haven’t played great in the first half of either game”. We were 4-0 up versus Norwich, you seem to expect a lot!

Spot on, PB. English plans are so caught up in the nonsensical armband debate that frankly, is tiresome and boring at this point. Hendo is club capt. and has proven his worth WELL before he became a Liverppol legend as capt. of a CL winning side.

Also, VVD is the leader of the defence. There are other leaders like Mane, Bobbie, Milner, Allison who IMO, bring leadership thru their play and by example on and off the pitch. Do they all need armbands as well?

Putting aside the needless, tedious armband debate, I thought Ox had a solid game in midfield. You could see that there were signs of his old delf coming back. He just needs to keep progressing and trusting himself physically and hopefully, we can get the Ox pre-injury. If we could get even 70 percent of the pre-injury Ox, we could have a really good season on our hands.
