Yes, enjoy it! My boys are 19 and 21 although I have a daughter who is 12. The point being that the time by fast, in the blink of an eye. Before you know it they will be grown up.
don't expect to get everything right and there are no hard and fast rules on how to bring up kids. Spend plenty of time with them, watching their sport, school plays, holidays etc. You will regret it in the future if you don't and as they get older Pick you battles wisely.

That's it, well done to you and your other half. Enjoy it!

Congratulations mate! My advice is to try not to get stressed out. Pretty much anything your kid does is normal, no matter how weird it seems to us. That, and enjoy every minute of it, as it's the greatest time of your life.

Congratulations.

Demand she gives you a boy. I tried to get my daughters into football and all things LFC. No joy.

They went into irish dancing instead.

Does this help.

No amount of money can buy back lost time.
kids just want time and attention work can always wait your kid will grow every day and do something new every day try not to miss a thing
Also kids are like butterflys they all fly at thier own heights and each is beautiful in it's own way
They will be the best and most precious thing in your life.

{Ed001's Note - I think wiltshire needs to check and see if their milkman was Irish around the time of conception....}

I can't complain as the youngest one went on to a national champion at the same time we had roy hodgson as manager.

It took my mind of the awful football.

Wait. milkman eamon o'flaherty. I wonder what he's doing now.

Head for the hills and start using condoms. In all seriousness congrats just be there for your kid. Being a father means more than any material gift or money.

My son is 3 in a few months. My only advice is don't take anything the Mrs says to heart for at least 2 years. The actual fatherhood side of it is the easy bit. It's the strain it puts on your relationship that requires more work. Make time for each other as well as doing things as a family. Oh and when the kid turns 2 it's all downhill from there because they become mobile and intelligent enough to do what they want, but have no ability to reason! It's like trying to get your drunken mate in the taxi at the end of a heavy night out. You know he can do it, he knows he can do it, but he also knows that he can put up enough of a fight to make your life hell!

Congrats, OP. I have two boys myself, a 4 year old and a 13 month old. They are true gems. The only advice I have for you is to be very aware of everything you say or do around him cos HE WILL SEE EVERYTHING you do and say. I say this cos you as his father, will be the standard as to what type of man he will aspire to be at least at the start of your wonderful father-son relationship. Apart from that, you will have the time of your life as in, he will give you complete and utter hell, bro. Congrats, once again.

Yeah, pull out quicker next time 😂
Only messing, enjoy the early months, as soon as they learn to roll over your life is over.
Oh and it’s only a few short years before they learn to swear at you so enjoy the cute gurgling noises while they last as well haha.

{Ed025's Note - my advice would be to buy the kid an everton kit, when the new stadium is built and the progress we are making on the field comes to fruition the child will be eternally grateful to you RTID, liverpool supporters will be 2nd class citizens as he or she grows up and children who wear red will be at the mercy of the bullies...oh by the way...congratulations mate.. :)

No amount of money ever bought a second of time. Don’t stress or take anything too seriously. As long as you spend as much time with them as you can you’ll be fine. At least till they become teenagers anyway then your screwed.

Yeah, don’t let them push your missus into natural birth if labour starts taking too long. Caesarean is perfectly fine. And if I didn’t faint in the delivery room you should be fine.

Haha cheers guys, genuinely stunned. My misses phoned me up at work and said she was pregnant, my response was this better not be one of your unfunny jokes, it wasn't 😂. I'll be fine as long as the kids into footy, otherwise I'm out of ideas.

This post really touched me, a poster sends he is having a child and many respond back with sound advice and heart felt best wishes. if this is not a family, I don't know what is. Well done Triston you built something very special with these pages.

{Ed001's Note - sometimes it does leave you lost for words on this site. It is a good reminder that human decency is not dead and that good people are everywhere.}

If the kid is in a cot/ bed in your bedroom, try to put it on the opposite side of yours. Re-arrange the room if you have to.

Sleep will be the real b**ch!

Otherwise the first six or so months is easy out. They are basically a pet. Don't need to do much. Just feed it, clean it and put it to sleep.

Try not to encourage crawling and walking. They will do it eventually but really you want to extend the non crawling for as much as possible as they become a danger to everybody including themselves. You will trip over it at some stage. Relax about this. Remember, it is their fault crawling along like silent ninjas.

As they get older TV will be a godsend. Remember never to remove it in a punishment. You're just punishing yourself if you do.

As they get older still, you've know realized you haven't been there for them and been half a$$ing parenting. It is important not to panic at this time. Just make another one and start again.

just try and enjoy as much as you can. You and the mum work together as a team and figure out how you will share the night time feed/ change/ sleep routine etc. That will really help.

But also, just embrace everything. Like someone else said, before you know it they will be pushing you away and you will miss the days when they were so dependent on you!
