Cheers Ed, a lot covered there.

Looks like Lewandowski will finish his career at Bayern, would have loved to see how he would have performed in one of the other top leagues. Quality player.

{Ed001's Note - he would have made it in any league but Bayern are set up to suit his game.}

Lewandowski is the only striker in world football I would consider replacing Bobby with. It's a damn shame Bayern never gave Lewy the supporting cast he deserved to take Bayern to the next level.

On a completely unrelated topic Ed001,what do u make about VVD winning the award ahead of Messi?

All the Messi fanboys are up in arms but imo it is so refreshing to see a defender win this kind of award after so long.

{Ed001's Note - Messi didn't have a good season, he was never in the running and should never have even been on the shortlist. Does no one remember how whiney he was against us at Anfield?}

Lewa is a once in a life time talent at CF. The guy has NO weaknesses, IMO. Like Ed said, he would have made it anywhere cos he is just that good. He like Bobbie or Jimenez at Wolves, are the only CF's that can occupy a whole backline on their own. Brilliant footballer.

I saw a documentary about him and how he was set to join Blackburn Rovers for 4m and the deal fell thru only for BVB to take him. When he arrived there, he had to bide his time cos Lucas Barrios was the starter.

Lewa's agent was agitating for his guy to get more games and Lewa was getting impatient BUT Klopp kept him onside, letting him know his time would come. Lewa kept working hard on the training pitch, honing his game under Klopp in the 2010/ 11 season when they won the league. The next season, Lewa got his chance and has not looked back since. He is Klopp's creation tho he was already very talented.

Redwolf that Blackburn tale is brilliant, was the time the volcanic ash cloud had grounded most flights around Europe preventing lewandowski meeting Blackburn.

I remember his earlier years he was seen more as a second striker, playing off the front in deeper areas, then he was able to show he was quality as an out and out no.9 also.

To have the ability to be strong in all aspects of forward type play makes him a special player. Aguero too has similar well balanced attributes to play any forward role.
Van persie I always admired too for his array of different strenghts.

All 3 could come short, great touch, vision, get assists, shoot from range but could also get in behind a defence, make those explosive near post runs to meet a cross and also scoring predatory instinctive tap ins. Those 3 forwards probably I think the most well rounded forwards of the last decade in terms of multiple balanced attributes. None of them has had to rely on raw pace or physicality in terms of height or strength. Ibrahimovich also up there in that category of player.

Har_rd92, I did not even know about how the planes were grounded that day and heaven knows what Lewa would have become had he actually gone to Blackburn under Big Scam. Dodged a bullet right there, didn't you Robert, lol?

Regarding his abilities, I fully agree with you. Lewa (as he is called in Germany) like Aguero and even George Weah and Shevchenko (in their prime) were just unplayable for the most part. They seemed to lack any weaknesses and could play any type of CF prototype.

For me Lewa and George Weah, would be the type of CF's I would want young CF's growing up in football, to patent their games after. They were way ahead of their time with their array of skills that very few CF's have now. They were my idols growing up. I would add Marco Van Basten and Big Ron (O Phenomeno) to that list as well.
