I do hope that Liverpool are not going to get involved with this passing out from the back stupidity that has become the latest football fad, could you imagine our premier league or champions league hopes going up in smoke because of this latest craze?
call me old fashioned but I prefer a goalkeeper to take a proper goal kick.
What we have witnessed this weekend should be a warning about this latest fad.
Ed001- any thoughts on this subject mate?

{Ed001's Note - we do it a bit too mate but it is not for me. It is just inviting pressure and taking an unnecessary risk. You should never be passing a ball across the box it is something we were always told as a basic. I don't want to see us aimlessly lumping the ball from goal kicks but at least move it up the pitch a bit to remove a bit of the risk factor or wide. The box should be seen as an area to move it away from, not to play it about in.}

ITs good in certain scenarios, but if the opposition are putting on a press, go long and bypass it. Luckily, when fit, we have Ali who is comfortable with both scenarios however some teams aren’t so lucky, so it goes forward aimlessly then just comes back. That’s why winning the second ball (phase) is more crucial then the initial header.

I don't like it when we do it ed001, as you said its far too risky, that goal Arsenal conceded today was pure stupidity as they already had 3 warnings beforehand, also the more I see of emery the more I don't get, his tatics and his line ups and his use of the subs bench baffles me, thankfully he is arsenal's problem.
Thanks for your reply mate.

{Ed001's Note - he is a very poor manager.}

KK and Ed01, I fully agree with your premise. Ed01, I have observed that unlike these other teams like Arsenal, Sours and City, we don't play out the back thru midfield as a policy. If that is not on, I see us playing down the side in the half spaces via the FB (or CB of that side if the scenario permits) and the midfielder showing for the ball. And if we have to hoof it by say the FB, we hoof it down the line on the wing or the CB hoofs it as well. I think this is why we are not under as much pressure as the other teams.

Spurs and Arsenal for example, set up almost every time with the CB's outside the six yard box with the opposition right on top of them, trying to pass the ball back and hence, inviting pressure and all that. So I think we move the ball up the field as described above with minimal danger. Have you observed this as well? Cheers, man.

Must say Norwich passing out of the back very well . watching them against city they perfected getting the ball out calmly and precisely. unlike city they had to resort to the long kick.

I have to agree with the emery stuff. They have two good strikers, one good winger, a CAM in ozil who can be class when in the right situations, and not much else. Torreira seems the best of the bunch otherwise. But no decent centre halves, arguably the two youngens are the best but untested really, and a weak midfield.

If they could find a way to play auba lazazette Pepe and ozil, they’d need two top cdms, and xhaka and guendouzi are not that. Added to that the soreness of their back four, then they will ship plenty this year and anyone can see it.

I'm putting my flak jacket on but I think there's a player somewhere in Guendouzi, and Torreira is a quality terrier.

Defence is shambolic mind you.

I actually couldn't believe the goal Arsenal conceded. What were they thinking? They'd already nearly been caught out doing it in that game. They were nearly caught out doing it against us, and probably against other teams too. And three Watford players were waiting on the edge of the area like hungry jackals but they still did it.

Passing it just outside the box is a short goal kick. Out to the fullback is a short goal kick. Passing it sideways 3 yards is being a monumental idiot. I don't see what benefit there is to restarting the game like that, as opposed to passing to a player 15-20 yards away, even you're not dispossessed or forced into a bad pass.

Idontlooklikeklopp, Torreira looks good when I see him, but at the same time Xhaka who can barely move and tackles like he's been out on the piss before the game starts ahead of him. I genuinely don't know. Is Torreira actually not as good as I think he is or is Emery just insane?

Guendouzi could become a decent player but he's young, getting thrown under the bus by emery and needs a decent coach.
The passing out from the back is a shambles, our midfield and defence are a shambles, our manager is a shambles.
The worst thing is that, when fit, we actually have a half decent squad. I reckon jurgen could have us challenging, but alas we're stuck with a madman.

I seen on tv he has rolled a dice to see who makes the team maybe taken out of context but fits with what I'm reading hear

I always likes arsenal's playing style and under Wenger dreaded playing them but times have changed.

{Ed047's Note - Emery is shocking Berg, he needs to be jogged off ASAP, genuinely doesn’t have a clue.

Not playing Torriera but playing Xhaka and Luiz, it’s not like Mustafi didn’t give him enough glimpses of what happens when you play a 🤡 but he continues to play two of them.

It’s just embarrassing mate.

SirWenger I agree with you - I like Guendouzi and Torreira and truthfully cannot understand why he persists with Xhaka, like you said, you actually have a half decent squad, Emery just needs to actually use it, cos yous could be so much better.

I think Guendouzi will be a class player. He's the only one that seems to have any willing and urgency. He makes mistakes but it doesn't help he's only 20 and playing next to that muppet Xhaka.

its like anything right, its about timing and execution. Arsenal are just stupid. I remember when we played them and the commentator was laughing at their goal kick, and watching our players look like they were in sprinting pose ready for them to take it short, then they did. that was just crazy.

Sounds torrid ed47.

{Ed047's Note - he’s a nothing manager mate, yes he’s won some cups and a league title with PSG albeit he mucked up his 1st season there and got that mauling from Barca in the Champions League.

Just a bang average manager who couldn’t organise a pi55 up in a brewery.

Did you see those damning stats they put up on MOTD2 made for pretty shocking reading.

14.) 16 Sep 2019
16 Sep 2019 12:27:31
I stay away from stats as I find they can be misleading ed for example the assist stats between mane and salah salah has more assists which makes him seem less selfish than manè but mane has made more chances for salah to score so manè is less selfish each stat has it's own agenda neither tell the truth.

{Ed047's Note - berg, most goals conceded from errors, 14, most penalties conceded, 10 and most shots against in 5 games, 96.

If that’s not telling an alarmingly true story mate I’m honestly not sure what is. 🤷‍♂️

15.) 16 Sep 2019
16 Sep 2019 18:51:51
Ive seen they conceded more shots in the opening 5 games than the Derby side of 07/ 08. The worst side in prem history.

{Ed047's Note - for a club like Arsenal it’s shocking mate.

Ed47, I have to agree with you regarding Emery. As the French say, "Ce n'est plus possible avec Emery" (It is no longer possible with Emery) . I simply can't support the guy anymore. The guy is getting worse by the week. I mean, only an idiot would continue to tell his players to play out of the back the way they are doing.

I mean, there is arrogance and self belief, and confidence. And then there is complete stupidity and idiocy. We all knew it was only a matter of time before they conceded and frankly with the way the game panned out, they could have conceded another 3 goals and no one would have even blinked cos Arsenal was that poor. Emery will not finish the season and even if he does, he needs to go cos he is getting worse.

{Ed047's Note - I’d like to see them act now mate, I never understand why owners keep watching this garbage and think the clubs going places.

We will go nowhere with Emery and that for me is a given. I was done with him last year so have zero time for him this.

I didn’t think it was possible for us to be worse defensively than we were under Wenger's latter years but this guys nailed it.

16 Sep 2019 21:21:27
Ed047, I fully agree. Did you know that Arsenal conceded THIRTY-ONE shots in the whole game vs Watford, last night. Now all due respect to Watford but THIS IS FREAKING WATFORD. If Watford is doing that to you and should have won the game t a canter then, what does Emery think Norwich will do to them at the rate they are going? I always supported Emery and I actually wanted him at LFC when BR was on the bubble of should he stay or go cos he was very good at Sevilla. Shows how much I know about football.

{Ed047's Note - yes I read it mate and they were bottom of league, the commentators were saying during the match how bereft of confidence the Watford players were and we gave it all right back to them.

Literally no one is in fear of playing us and in honesty haven’t been for years.

Nagelsmann was the one for me and i never even gave Emery a thought.

Ali passes to robbo a lot with a weighted 30 yarder. that's how we get out quite often.
