hi all. i read all replays of my post . and i think you friends don't understead me right. AN world class middifield means more than score goals. this is a bonus. world class middiefld means: to create spaces for attackers, to pass the ball deep, to dribble, to destabilize defenses whu park the bus (like Manchester United) . our middle has other qualities: hard work, good recoveres, that is good when the other team play open game. when the other team park the bus is not too good. sorry for my english but i think you understeand what i want to say. ynwa.

Apart from City, which team actually has a 'world class midfield'? I'd argue that Gerrard, Alonso and Masch was a world class midfield and that didn't win the Prem either.
I bet they Wish they had a world class defence because Away goal ruins them every year in Europe mate.

Athos36, you are entitled to your opinion BUT I fully disagree and here is why. The qualities our midfielders have suit Klopp's midfield ethos perfectly. It is this same midfield that has damaged all types of parked uses on a regular basis for the past 18 months to two years cos of the way we play. You don't win the amount of games we have won, scoring the amount of goals we have scored during this span w/ o any creative spark in our team now, do you?

We have creative players in other areas such as our FB's (TAA is IMO, a no. 10 who plays and creates from RB), our front three can drop deep and create and of course, the Bobbie Dazzler is a creative no. 10 and a brilliant no. 9 all rolled in one. No team can boast of the creative riches we have in these areas. Not even City. Again, you don't score a skyscraper-full of goals and points (125 from the last 144 available) we have done if you are not creative.

The problem I see is that it seems on the rare occasion we don't win a game vs a parked bus, people bang on about lack of creativity in midfield and the need for "World class midfielder" to create. IMO, we should just focus on doing and improving what clearly works on the rare occasion it does not which is what training, and post game analysis is for cos we know that nor system works. So why change it just cos we did not win the odd game in 25 unbeaten (17 straight wins)? Just my opinion.

Redwolf, no disrespect mate but rare occasion? Everton and United away last season, City at home when they sat back that’s three 0-0.Fast forward to Sunday’s game against the Mancs!

So three very difficult away games against traditionally our two biggest rivals and a scoreless draw against probably the best side in Europe Drogie! bit of perspective sometimes, honestly don't know how any department of the team can be criticised for maybe the last two years.

World class midfield means world class players to me. I'd agree that Kevin de Bruyne would improve us a lot irrespective of the merits of our current players. But he plays for Man City. And I can't think of any player of his calibre that is currently available for transfer.

Also, we spent over £100m on midfielders last season. One of them is doing quite well, but the other (Keita) struggled to get going and some people are asking questions about him already, so it's not a simple matter of just going out and acquiring a world class midfield.

I think to a degree we're spoiled by the quality of the team we have. I cannot remember the last time so many of our players considered amongst the very best in Europe in their position (Gk, Cb, both fullbacks, and the front three) . Contributes to a sense that any player we have who isn't the best in their position in Europe can improved upon. It's not that easy in reality.

Ok, so what about Leicester at home and West Ham away? Plenty of perspective mate. I’m not criticising.

Ultimately the one area we can realistically improve on is our cm’s. I love our players but anyone who denies this is our true area to strengthen is blinkered.

We also really need a third winger too. Someone to give us a rotation option and a person off the bench who can come on a turn a game when our front 3 have an off day.

8.) 23 Oct 2019
23 Oct 2019 21:02:32
We scored in both them games. is any game we don't win now held up as a stick to beat our midfield with! we cannot win EVERY game, no team ever has.

23 Oct 2019 21:05:31
I agree shaq i do actually think we can improve our centre midfield but having said that it'd take a good player to improve on Fabinho, Keita, Hendo, Gini, Milner and the Ox. i'd like Havertz, but so would nearly every big team in europe.

Gerrard, Alonso, Silva, DeBruyne etc, would walk into Liverpools midfield and we all know it. Liverpools midfield while not world class, has done really well, but I am certain it could be improved.
Finding the right player is the difficult part but you always look to improve the team and not stand still.

11.) 23 Oct 2019
23 Oct 2019 22:00:08
If you were at those games, you’d know exactly what I am talking about. Who’s said anything about winning every game? It was the draws that ultimately cost us last season.

Our midfield is just fine.

13.) 23 Oct 2019
23 Oct 2019 22:18:15
97 points, more than any other great Liverpool dide has ever earned. Like i said, we can't win every game.

14.) 23 Oct 2019
23 Oct 2019 22:47:50
Most of last season we only had 4 of a possible 7 midfielders available. In the last 2 games two of them have scored 3 goals. Seems obvious that when the club didn't add to the midfield last window they had this in mind.

23 Oct 2019 23:12:39
Drogie you’ve just picked out 5 games from the last 47 and say it’s not a rare occasion. I’d call 5 out of 47 quite rare.
The fact is most teams we play against park the bus and we usually find a way through but on rare occasions we don’t. Look at City, everyone drools over their midfield creativity but they lost 3-2 to Norwich and 2-0 the Wolves.
It happens. Football is not an exact science. I actually think City are worse defensively when De Bruyne is in the team as good as he is.
I remember when we signed Salah and tried to move Coutinho into midfield. It gave us creativity in midfield but made us a worse team overall as we lost that bite in midfield and with a creator in there you inevitably lose the ball more as they try to play more difficult passes. With our fullbacks so high up we got broken on for fun.
Our midfielders compliment our style and with Keita and Ox we have more creative options if we really need them.

World class players are players who can walk into any team, in any league and make a difference.
Players like Messi, Suarez, Ronaldo, Mbappe, Firmino and Allison are players that I would consider to be, or have been "world class".

17.) 24 Oct 2019
24 Oct 2019 07:02:17
The phrase "World class" is always thrown around loosely. For me you don't necessarily need to have world class players as the a few and far between but you could certainly upgrade our midfield with "better" players without having to look for world class ones. None of our midfielders are world class in my opinion. They work for our team set up but that doesn't mean there isn't any better out there.

18.) 24 Oct 2019
24 Oct 2019 07:47:04
Becker’s - I’m talking about the league and the consistency to win it, so it’s 38 games not 47. We actually drew 7 games last season which ultimately cost us the title right?

That’s nearly 20% mate, still think it’s rare?

19.) 24 Oct 2019
24 Oct 2019 08:23:35
Everyone says draws cost us the league but had we of drawn 8 games instead of 7, we would have won it. The 8th draw being Man City when we lost. That would have been the necessary 2 point swing. So to say too many draws cost us the league is factually incorrect 😉.

20.) 24 Oct 2019
24 Oct 2019 08:58:13
Dropping points in 8 games out of 38 is hardly rare. The standard set by Man City is extremely high and we need to prepare and strengthen accordingly. And refreshing our midfield is what it will take to stay and set those standards for years to come. I refuse to believe that there aren't better midfielders out there than what we have that can slot seamlessly into the team.

21.) 24 Oct 2019
24 Oct 2019 16:58:25
Thank you buzzer. Sense at last.

Sorry Shaq but you are wrong, City lost more games than us but still won the league! Just like back in the 08/ 09 season when we also came second. Again we drew too many games and beaten to the title by United.

22.) 24 Oct 2019
24 Oct 2019 20:47:55
Selfie. What I have said is an absolute fact. If we had of drawn that game against city we lost, we would have won the title. You cannot dispute that try as you apparently might.

23.) 24 Oct 2019
24 Oct 2019 22:03:59
Shaq Attack, anyone can dispute your claim cos all you have is an assumption, not a fact. Simply, you have no proof that had we drawn the game vs City away, we would have won the PL. That much is clear. Why? For you to think that, you would have to either again, assume that we would have won the same amount of games we won last season which is a flawed standard to use cos nobody knows what would have happened after hypothetically beating or drawing with City. Hypotheticals are not certainties and neither are they facts.
Remember, City won their last 15 in a row after they lost to Newcastle and we won our last 9 and that is what won them the PL by one point. That is a fact, not a hypotheses nor an assumption. Peace and Love.

24.) 24 Oct 2019
24 Oct 2019 22:08:09
Drogie, whether you watched the game at Anfield or on the telly, we all watched the same game cos there is nothing you saw that I missed whyle watching on the telly.

Also, you picked out just 5 games out of the near 150 games we have played overall in the past two years to make your point. You are picking random outliers/ isolated incidents to make your larger point. Sorry but that is not a big enuff sample size to correlate with your point that we need a creative no. 10 cos without one, we have won 125 of the last 144 points on show meaning we have only dropped 19 measly points in that span. So why change what globally works just suit such a flawed point? Please, explain.

Of course our midfield is not perfect and can be strenghtened as anything can always be improved. But we can't guarantee the same level of success we've had by trying to change what is clearly a combination that works and is already effective.

To those pointing out that 7 draws were a result of our weak midfield are not analysing the situations at all. Those 7 draws we only scored 4 goals. Mane×2, Milner and sturridge. So firmino, salah and our potent full backs were not effective also so why is our midfield at blame for those draws? What about the same midfield who stood up and turned the Barcelona game on its head when the forwards weren't available? Milner Henderson drastically impact as subs changing Southampton draw to a win, wijnaldum getting the opener in cagey wins vs spurs, Cardiff, Sheffield Utd alone in last 12 months, Milner getting winner in games at Fulham, Leicester late on, scoring the opener away to arsenal. Keita equalising against southampton, opening the scoring against Huddersfield, . Henderson creating the opening goals against Chelsea and Barca, fabinho creating the opener against United while shaqiri won it from midfield late on, wijnaldum turning Barcelona game on its head, the OX previously damaging city in league and Europe and this week getting the first 2 goals days after lallana saved us a point.

You can't just ignore any positive inputs that helped us pick up points at crucial times and only focus on when they didn't have positive inputs, blaming them for dropped points while not acknowledging where they played a huge part in their contribution is simply an unfair criticism. I agree that of course they can be improved but perfection is impossible and I for one don't hold them solely at fault for our failings, the whole team as a group hold the responsibility for criticism when the performance isn't sufficient.

Redwolf. I’m not making any assumptions. I’m saying that if all our other 37 results had stayed the same, and we had drawn the 38th game against city, we would have won the title. That is a fact, it’s maths. City would have finished the season on 96 points to our 98.

I’m not saying that’s definitely how the league would have gone down. I’m saying that people who claim we drew too many games isn’t correct, because changing one result into one more draw would have won the league.

Why is that hard for people to grasp 🙄.
