I don't get all the hype about the FA cup . What is it? The history, the magic, all that BS is it a british thing? Is it like brexit and the longing for the past empire? I thought liverpool was different, c'mon boys, the past is the past! What would you rather? Win the FA cup or European cup?

Why put all your eggs in 1 basket? We are winning the league and could have it done by the end of March. Why not be in the FA cup as well? what's the point in having a squad if you don't want to use it on games like these?

It is second to the Premier League in domestic trophies. Off course Liverpool should be trying to win it and if you don't "get" that then clearly Liverpool Fc and football in general is not the thing for you.

For a team who hasn't won the league in 30 years I don't care about the second biggest domestic cup at all.

Klopp will have at least 4 more chances to win it. Prioritise the league and CL this year.

Are you kidding? The FA Cup is a result of "BS"? Nonsense. And what has "British" and "Brexit" got to do with all this? Look carefully around you at the "British" game. Foreign owners, foreign managers and foreign players everywhere. Even foreign stadium names. It's an internationally integrated game and there is no reversing it. So, some of us have respect for history and tradition. For all the efforts put in the past for those who played for it, and managed teams for it and even dreamed about it. Where else do you see a competition where a clear underdog upends a big club (it almost happened last night to LFC)? Does the excitement of all that not do anything for anyone?

And I don't get this virus that has spread around everywhere, where every competition is to be dispensed with, because we only care about the EPL title. I don't think club management sees it that way, as well as a host of club supporters. We have the chance to win 5 competitions (titles) in the last 12 months (since May 2019). We've achieved 3 of them and have 2 to go. I'd be absolutely fine with 4 titles (EPL included) but to forego the 5th (FA Cup) is really being short sighted and foolish. History remembers the numbers, and mostly only the numbers. Alex Ferguson is an absolute nobody without those 13 Premier League, 5 FA Cup and 2 Champions League titles, for ManU.

If we're serious about getting back on our perch, going after both the EPL and FA Cup is an absolute must. And nowhere is it written or implied that the FA Cup will interfere with the Champions League. Most of the time the same players are not involved. While the burden of the Champions League is mostly on the first XI, the burden of the FA Cup usually falls on the 12th to 25th player of the squad (generally speaking), until the last stages of the competition. I'm surprised nobody has suggested that we should have foregone winning the World Club Cup, just so that we wouldn't have that one game in hand (EPL) and be a further 3 points up in the table. Rant over. Enjoy your evening. 😊.

If we beat West Ham this week we will be 19 points ahead, which means we would need to lose 7 games and City to win their 7 to go ahead. For a team that's lost 1 league game in a year and a half, it's never going to happen. We could easily prioritise the FA CUP and the CL and still win the League.

I don’t think it’s about prioritising anything Irish it’s about the Premier League asking us to not play any games in those 2 weeks and respect the break then the FA scheduling a game.
How do we know what Klopp has told the players they can do for that first week? He might have given them the week off to spend time with their families and every game asking them for more because they will get that week come rain or shine. To then take it off them would be bad management don’t you agree?
It’s not ideal and I wanted the treble too but ranting about us throwing it away is wrong unless you know all of the details.

ArAy 1969, you make valid points BUT I am not sure that is what the debate is actually about, IMO. For me, I don't want the FA Cup dispensed with for sure. That is not my issue. The issue here is that the FA seems to have screwed up here and instead of coming to the table with a plan to rectify this with LFC, they are IMO, trying to strong arm us into playing a game they stupidly scheduled during a winter break during which THEY themselves (and one Klopp and his players had been looking forward to cos they are KNACKERED completely), had said NO games should be played in. That is the hypocrisy and incompetence that Klopp does not believe he should be a victim of. That is where the issue is and that is where the focus needs to be, IMO.

Beckers Pecker
Klopp will have known well before the Shrewsbury game that if we didn't win then the replay would fall during the Winter break. It wasnt thrown on him at the last minute. So for me it should been the case of "You want a break? Then we have to win this game, else we will have a replay to take care off! " Its really bad management by the club if they didn't take it into consideration.
I also don't buy this time with the family nonsense. Footballers have the best job in the world.

{Ed025's Note - nah, i do flagging and block paving in the cold and rain irish for peanuts..them players must be dead jealous of me mate.. :)

ArAy, how serious would you like us to take the replay if we were on equal points with City and United at the top? Its a lovely traditional competition with fairytale upsets for lower teams but, for me, its a low priority while we are still trying to win the PL and CL.

Ed025 the players might not be jealous but I bet there's a lot of squirrels that are quite envious on your peanut earning power.
