The phantom corner.

Anyone think it was a bit mad when Salah had his shot that deflected off for a corner, the ref gave a goal kick but the VAR checked for a handball?

VAR must've confirmed it came off the defender's leg, but didn't mention it to the on-field ref.

I KNOW that VAR is not supposed to check for corners. It's just a bit mad that's all.

So I think because the ref didn't notice the ball deflected off the player, so gave a goal kick. VAR they obviously saw the ball deflected off the player and checked for a potential hand ball, which it wasn't, so no penalty, VAR doesn't award incorrectly called corners.
