Mukesh Ambani is apparently favourite to land Liverpool, in fairness out. of everyone rumoured to be interested, he'd be my choice.

We'll be linked to many more billionaires around the World by the time this plays out. I'll take everything I read on the subject with a pinch of salt.

Depends who you read as it sounds like it’s between Steve Ballmer the Microsoft multi billionaire or vulture capitalist Stephen Pagliuca. Quite honestly, Pagliuca should not be let anywhere near the club given the frankly appalling manner in how he does business, he would be extremely bad news as it would be a leveraged buyout with debt raised against the club for the club to pay back, like Glazers and H&G. If it’s true that Ballmer is making an offer he would be our best hope as he’s literally the 10th richest man in the world and would be buying outright.

Isn’t Ambani the a8th richest man in the world?

Not sure he’s actually interested or made an offer WDW. Seems like a random name as the parties mentioned were US based and nowhere else. Unless Ambani is US based.

I personally don’t want more American owners, fsg have been good but tell me another club where they work?

Nationality and origins shouldn't matter. Intentions and action plan for the future of the club, do. Fingers crossed that we get the best intentioned owners.

Ambani being interested, if true, would be a good news. Though Ambani is an astute business man. He has not run Mumbai Indians (MI) like a typical business. Largely because he is a big sports fan, especially cricket fan. His gain is largely through the free publicity he gains through owning the most successful brand in IPL. He might be interested in gaining worldwide publicity through a global club like ours. If example of MI is to go by, he would do anything to make Liverpool win more. This could be a great win win for both the parties.

On another note, confirmed news is that Jr. Ambani is a football buff and though he follows Arsenal, has deep respect of Klopp and brand Liverpool. ( typically the case in India, as LFC and Arsenal fans are often in the same boat over last 15 years ?) . Looks like he is the brain behind Ambani's interest and really trying to onboard Sr. Ambani.

I sincerely hope that they pull it off, definitely over Bain (have worked in similar businesses like them, and reality is, all they care about is direct money and benefits, and do not go for indirect benefits like Ambani might be looking for, or the Arab sheiks typically look for.

2. His son is supposedly a football buff and childhool Arsenal fan.

Ppl wanting ambani just from watching them develop ipl side they will build an insane scouting system and unearth gems won't spend unless absolutely required. so in essence sane as fsg. they won't spend like city or paris.

If its a leveraged buy out what's the interest on £4 billion? Anyone know?

10.) 13 Nov 2022
13 Nov 2022 13:32:33
LB031, in IPL there is a cap on expenses, so they can't spend whatever they want. But they are doing what best they can to win, under those circumstances as they have the desire to win. that's what they would bring, a winning mentality. We can't say for sure if they would be like FSG in terms of spending habits. But surely, they would not be after direct monetory benefits if they happen to own our club.

Neo, the worst thing about Bain/ Pagliuca is this bit where aside from getting the companies they take over to take the loans on to pay the loans, they then take further loans to pay themselves dividends before taking the businesses apart and leaving them bankrupt. See what they did to Toys R Us. If they take over I can see #pagliucaout trending fairly quickly.

Even in the cap where everyone was splashing money unltill the last auction their biggest bid was below 10cr. that's massively low compared to rest.

Absolutely VVVV, LBO is the worst thing that could happen, not sure why it is still legal. Failure rates are also very high and there are multiple examples similar to toys r us.

LB031. Respect your opinion, i have a different one. May be for some other time (will discuss if ambani becomes a reality and we have a thread on why they are good or bad)

Steve Ballmer is the 11th richest man in the world at $80.4 billion and is eccentric to say the least. I can honestly picture him getting drunk on the pitch with Klopp if we won the League or Champions League. He would definitely become a fan favourite.

Mukesh Ambani also sounds good. He is the 8th richest man in the world at $94.7 billion. He also chairs and has 45% share in Reliance Industries, which is valued at $229 billion. Out of all the ones mentioned so far these two would be my pick.

Can the Ed’s confirm if both Steve Ballmer and Mukesh Ambani are actually interested in purchasing the club?

{Ed002's Note - You are getting carried away with the worth of individuals and value of funds.

Didn't Ambani buy the Mumbai Indians and hand them over to his wife to run? Would he do the same here, if he does manage to buy LFC?

{Ed002's Note - perhaps to one of his other wives.}

Ed2. I’m not getting carried away nor am I that fussed. They don’t pay my bills or look after my family. I’m only quoting what I have read. Whether it’s accurate or not is another matter. My question was and remains whether either were interested.

{Ed002's Note - The problem is that people are only interested in the money. For years Liverpool supporters have craved a wealthy Arab oil baron to buy the club and spend huge sums of money on players. There is a huge difference between responsible investment in the club and team and the short-term pleasure of a quickie in the alleyway behind the bar. I have explained already that there will be numerous parties asking for details of sale or investment, and as I have sad I think a sale more likely. There will then be an interview process, checks on availability of funding, checks on eligibility and suitability then a short list and then perhaps due diligence, final offers and a sale. Right now there will be 8 or 10 contenders done of which will soon be scratched.}

Ed2. Appreciate the detailed response and I’m with you on the responsible investment. I just hope FSG choose the right people to succeed them. One thing I would love, is for the new owners to invest in the local area in the same way the City owners have.

Now, you are far more versed in the time scales of such a deal. But I can only assume this is not a quick process and won’t be concluded until around April/ May of next year.

Guy’s, I’ve looked at the richest people in the world list, it’s BS, there’s no Rothschild (owner of pretty much ALL central Banks, IMF, World Bank), No Royalty from UK? You got to be kidding me, priceless diamonds on the Crown, before you get to any other assets stripped from around the globe for centuries. Other Royal families, there’s others I not mentioned that never get on those lists.

Unfortunately we as fans don’t get the say, as long as the new people respect the club, it’s history that’ll be some sort of start. As long as we don’t get owners like Hull did and want to change the name to Liverpool sharks or whatever, you get my gist.

20.) 13 Nov 2022
13 Nov 2022 18:52:33
Ed025, he has only one official wife, and she was very much sitting across the table from me when we were finalizing designs for "official watch of the IPL (Mumbai Indians version) " some 11-12 years ago. (That project crumbled when the IPL commissioner ran off to London) .

All I know is that Pagliuca must not be given the keys to Anfield. That man will bankrupt us to turn a quick Buck. If his bid is successful I hope the protests start immediately as he and his sort shouldn’t ever be made to feel welcome. Hicks and Gillett were more than enough for one life time.

Spot on, VVVV. Anything that rhymes with Bain Capital needs to stay well away from this club. You think the Glazers are bad and take money out of Utd (which FSG do NOT do despite all their haters spouting lies about them), just wait and see what Bain Capital will do to us if they take over.

Ed02, I fully agree with you on some LFC fans craving Oil rich states to own LFC cos they want what City and now Newcastle have just for short term pleasure and the "Oh, we need to be able to compete with City" rubbish. I ain't one of them and I actually value all the work we have done to get to where we are with responsible investment by FSG. Can we always do more? Of course BUT it is wh.

Sorry, pressed send too soon. As I was saying, FSG could have done more BUT for me, it is a wash. They made mistakes and corrected them and got a LOT more right than they got wrong, IMO. We need responsible new owners who will put the club, the fans and the city first and invest accordingly and keep us at or near the top, like FSG and Klopp did.
