Great stuff Ed001

Age catches up with us all unfortunately, but what a player he was in his pomp. I was lucky enough to see John Barnes in the late 80s and Mane is the only Liverpool player who played on the left since who comes close to Digger in my opinion. Digger was special though.

{Ed001's Note - oh Digger was incredible. I remember holding my breath whenever he went down after being whacked yet again. And I am pretty sure everyone else in Anfield was doing the same thing! He was special at his peak. Just truly magnificent.}

Great profile, and a fantastic player at his peak. Sad to see him in decline but hopefully he will settle in SA. My pal now refers to him as ‘Saudio Money’, a bit disrespectful if you ask me. Cheers Ed001.

John Barnes was really special. even after his peak he could sit in that midfield and spread balls for fun. He's certainly in my top 3 of all time.

I enjoyed that read Ed, Sadio was always my fav out of the fab three and the first player since Barnes to provide a real threat from the wings. Although critical of hendo for going Saudi (because his LGBT stance, I think he is a sell out, though great captain), I actually agree SA is a good move for sadio for the reasons you state. I think LFC got rid of him at the right time!

John Barnes was one of the most underrated rappers of his era. He wasn’t bad at Footie either.

{Ed001's Note - that World in Motion song is the best non-Liverpool footie song of all time. Mainly due to his rapping of course.}

Manes decline was strange it wasn’t gradual at all seemed to happen overnight. Couldn’t beat a man and looked like he was wearing boots 2 sizes too big. He was arguably the best player in the world in 2019.

When they recorded World in Motion they trialled several of the players to do the rap, obviously Digger won out but there's footage of Peter Beardsley trying it, well worth a watch.
