Wasnt that great to watch last night guys, no VAR and only one player tried the play acting in 95 minutes and was told to leave the pitch by the ref because the player got up when medics called on to pitch.

Also the ref was ok but how good was it to see the ref make his own decisions and the assistant ref flag for fouls and not wait five minutes for a decision.
match 7 out of 10 ref 7 out of ten no var 10 out of 10.

Iwillbered in the first half of the Fulham game, Elliott was in an onside position when the ball was played to him. now he shanked it however had he scored, the goal would have been wrongly ruled out for offside whereas the replay clearly showed him as being onside. Had VAR been there and had the goal been scored, the goal would have been given, it's that simple.

My point here is that "The perfect cannot be the enemy of the good". Hence IMO, the goal for VAR is and should not be perfection. The goal is to rectify as many bad on-field decisions as possible and give teams the decisions they earned or rectify them to the barest minimum which VAR when implemented properly (as we see in other leagues for the most part) actually does and even tho mistakes can happen, they should be rare and the system should continue to be improved over time so the trend can continue. Again, The perfect cannot be the enemy of the good. Just my opinion.

One point I will make is
When the Fulham player (I forgot his name) was rolling around on the floor from the palm of VVD. He received treatment and wasn’t sent to the sidelines to be brought back on when deemed appropriate from the ref. He was involved in the free kick that was awarded to Fulham.
There is no separate rule is there. Treatment recieved. On the sidelines to be called back on is how it is right?

{Ed002's Note - Obviously another conspiracy against Liverpool.}

Wouldn’t say a conspiracy Ed. Just confirmation of observation and a request of knowledge of the rules.

Stand to be corrected Gazza, but I thought I read somewhere a few years back that if the offending player (VVD) receives a yellow card for the tackle/ offence, then the injured player does not then have to leave the field after receiving treatment.

So as laughable as the situation was, with the little pr1ck rolling around like he'd been hit with a lump hammer, because the ref fell for his theatrics and booked Virgil. Therefore the Fulham player didn't have to go off.

Isn’t it simply because it was deemed to be a head injury as he was holding his face? We all know you don’t have to go off if the injury is above the neck.

I thought the ref was poor, he was guessing on the majority of the decisions he gave and was way too easily swayed by the reaction of the players on both sides. He gave us a free kick when Jones clearly backed into a player jumping for the ball for example.

I will give him credit for his treatment of Perreira though when the ball hit him in the back and he played on then went rolling around like he’d had a kidney punch from Ricky Hatton. The ref totally called him out on it and called on the physio and when Perreira then miraculously jumped up like a kid on Christmas morning he made him go off for 30 seconds. Well played Mr Coote, I never thought I’d ever say that.
