If Liverpool sign Benzema, then there will never such a time in recent years where Liverpool had so many options in attack.

This seems to be the way foward for NESV, which is better than previous ways, where LFC always seemed to be lacking in certain areas of the field.

"15/ 25 BRITISH- - - - - - - - not trying to be rude or to offend anyone but shay Givin would not be classified as british {Ed002's Note - I am not sure about the point being made, but Shay Given counts as a homegrown player as he went to Blackburn in his teens and spent the required three years in England or Wales before being 21.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - yea but he is Irish not British {Ed001's Note - and?}"

You need to read up on the Homegrown Rule mate.

ANYBODY, be they:
English, French, Irish, Spanish, Italian, Argentinian, Chinese, Japanese, Australian, Russian etc. (you get my drift).

If they live in England (or Wales) before their 21st Birthday they count as being 'Homegrown'. .

Hence the reason why Shay Given, who was at Blackburn for (at least) three years before his 21st counts as a 'Homegrown' player.

"With Joey Barton's contract negotiations stalling i can honestly see us making a move for him. The guy has a awfull attitude but no doubting hes got bags of ability on teh pitch and is what i'd call a proper footballer. I know this won be to everones taste but i could see kenny and steve sorting his hot head out. Whats your thoughts ed's?

Adzii {Ed001's Note - no no no no no. He should be cleaning the toilets in McDonalds after a customer has been in with diarrhea. The lad is spam and should not ever be allowed anywhere near a Liverpool squad.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
surely this is a joke, barton is a proper blob head

{Ed002's Note - Interestingly a regular "poster" (and I use the term in its loosest for), **e*****, has been saying for some months that Mr Barton is on his way to Liverpool. It seems a most unlikely pairing for me.}"

Barton is like Kuyt, hard working but with limited ability. We need a creative midfielder, please. .
RHI {Ed003's Note - Nah!!}

Have to agree with ed have now seen c. adams last 3 90 minute games . he is not good enough for first eleven . would of liked kenny to have spent the 35 million on two forwards not carroll cos i don't want to see ball lumped forward all the time .would prefer pass move

Hey eds! How reliable is gazzetta dello sport? Only asking because I just read that andre villa-boas has signed a pre-contract agreement with lfc. Heard anything ?

{Ed002's Note - Typically the BBC would quote what is being reported elsewhere to separate themselves from any chance of misreporting something.}

alright ed can you see this villas boas thing happening or do you think the job is kennys, as much as i love the man iam still unsure hes the man to take us forward also i assume this boas fella has worked with steve clarke before so can we read anything into mate cheers

kopman

{Ed002's Note - I don't expect Villas-Boas at Liverpool this summer. He was previously at Chelsea when Stev Clarke was there. If he is moving to Liverpool and an agreement has been signed you have a right to go after the owners who would have shafted the fans as well as Dalglish, who they are "talking" to about a new contract.}

Nothing against Spurs personally but please, you can't be serious here? The press links us with every player under the sun; your own manager does in his 'cheeky chappy' way.

Re gareth bale. You lot spend most of the past year ssying he sint good enough yet he's on a short list for both player of the year and young player of the year! As voted by his fellow pros??? So i guess you lot don't really don't know what your talking about! yes football is all about opinions but interest from both milan clubs not forgetting real and barca also tells me again you don't know what your talking about! You also call him pathetic childish names that would only come from little kids who still play with acrion man! and now some reporter has tossed in your name just to make up the numbers and all of a sudden hes a top player?. .pathetic, remember the guy hates your club and city! so don't expect to see him at anfield next year, he has along with modric made it very clear his future as they see it is at white hart lane! levy does not want to sell, harry does not want to sell and both players don't want to leave! so stop please its getting sad watching you whore your name to every player going

the reason he gets called names is because of the things he came out an said about the club an the city, i for one have never said i want bale, hes fast an got a decent cross on him an for the most part is a very good player, but, he's made out of tissue, he's always injured or seems to get injured alot, if i was 'arry i'd sell him for the reported 40/ 50m an buy someone(s) who arent as injury prone

"Name calling is immature!

What's immature about Man U?

MR EM

PS, This is my last post to you, i will be the grown up here!"

Calling Blair a 'Sour Rat' is because I view him as that, as he has as much value to my Life as a 'Sour Rat'. Hence the reason I called him that.

I suggest you look up the term 'ManU' and find out why we do not like being called that.

I'm not the one in the wrong here,
I was trying to help YOUR Ed's by advising them of a way to SAVE THEIR TIME, then you and Blair come along and have to start an argument.

Gareth Bale is a good player. But he's worth £20m at a push - not these crazy prices being quoted by the usual suspects.
Bale has a good cross and good acceleration. That's about it. Put him up against a quick full-back and he'll flounder like a fish out of water; he's no dazzling skills and he doesn't have the ability to create something out of nothing (which all the top players can do).

In your post you refer to the fact he's been nominated for that Mickey-Mouse award that recognises the most hyped up players in the league in a given year. It's a complete joke of an award; the only world-class players on the list are Nasri and Vidic. As for Young Player of the Year, well, it lost all credibility when it inexplicably ignored Martin Kelly.

Then you go on to brag about "interest from both milan clubs not forgetting real and barca" when there is in fact no evidence of any interest from any of those teams bar the ever-reliable 'reporters' at Goal.com.
It is also not our fault that poor old Gareth resembles a confused chimpanzee at the best of times.

Anyway, he'll be gone by the end of next season and it looks like Modric will be gone this summer to the Mancs. You had a good run, lads, but it's time to get your coat and let the pros take care of the Champions League and the scary Spaniards that, no doubt, must haunt every moment of every Spud's day.

Martin

Ed,

Any truth in Javi Martinez joining Liverpool instead of Charlie Adam who looks set for Manchester United. {Ed002's Note - I have not heard that at all.}

10 Apr 2011 20:46:02
I am sorry but my kid started counting the misplaced passes from Adam in the second half after he spotted the number of times the player lost the ball, and ended up with 11 (in about 1/ 4 of a game).Some of these passes were straight forward the kind of passes that Lucas gets numerous abuse for from alot of people in here.
You need to bare in mind that Adam looks good in a Blackpool team where everyone else around him is less gifted technically.
Adam is decent, but I honestly do not think he is better than Lucas.

Roy
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
you do realise that in fact with better players around him most of those passes wouldn't have missed
i thought he was putting the ball exactly where it should be put, if they had better wingers running onto them, which we should have next season
it's not his fault that the blackpool players are extremely lazy and aren't getting in the right positions

personally i think it is harder to look good in a team were everyone else is less technically gifted, as people like you don't realise the people around him aren't doing him justice {Ed003's Note -I agree that if better players were around him those passes today wouldnt have looked so bad,but to insinuate a team of professional footballers are lazy is a very hash remark indeed,tactilly niave or unfit maybe!}

Why are people comparing Adam to Lucas? they have completely different styles of play

10 Apr 2011 20:16:13
I have watched so many people on here chat on about players who are 'great' and most of them are just average but performing well for a few weeks, however, Falcao, wow, he has had some plaudits on here over the past few months and I have read them and looked into him a bit, but not a lot.
I watched his performance against Spartak Moscow, what a player. Not saying one performance makes a player but his style of play, his aggressive passioned approach to football was inspiring. He was everywhere, wide making crosses, central tapping in crosses, smashing in s**ts and challenging in the air, even attempting dangerous diving headers.
Personally, I believe this one player would massively improve our attacking options, a player who takes the game by the scruff of the neck and fights for every chance, a bit like Tevez.
Not saying Liverpool particularly have a chance, but surely £20-25m would get him?
Ed/ s what do you think of him, chances, interest, etc??

Anfield Andy {Ed002's Note - Sure he had a good game. I don't see him making a move away from regular football and Champions League to sit on the bench at Liverpool. I don't know of any interest.}

10 Apr 2011 19:30:47
Ed i was just wondering what are your thoughts on the claims of enrigue already signing for us?
are any of your sources saying any thing similar?
do you think its true?
and what do you think of the signing of him?
thank you

{Ed002's Note - There have been rumours of interest for ages. I don't know if Newcastle have a greed a fee and personal terms have been agreed or not - I very much doubt it.}

10 Apr 2011 19:38:49

{Ed002's Note - No it is not true.}

Bring back Rafa??
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
The reason that our squad is so poor is because of Rafa, We have been crying out for wingers and some good strikers for years and he never really addressed this. This is why we are now going to have to spend so heavily this summer to rectify all of this. He has had his chance to make Liverpool great, but he was not up to the job. End Of. Ross

it was roy who decided not to give riera a second chance, we had are best season when we had him as an outlet on the left wing
= = = = = = = = = = =
If you remember Rafa was going to sell him anyway, after his little outburst about the team, and Riera was hardly outstanding he did have a tendency to go missing. but that still does not justify his poor decision making in the transfer. Ross

Hey Ed I stumbled this on Twitter via a link

Gazzetta Dello Sport reports that the trainer of Oporto, Andre Villas Boas, met Franco Baldini (Roma) and would have said to him that it had a preliminary agreement with Liverpool. The 33 year old Portuguese did not hide either that MouRinho said to him that it was too early so that it goes to Italy.

I don't know if there's any weight behind this story? What do you think or have you any inside info to throw into this?
Thanks, you Editors are doing a superb job.

YNWA

Mark {Ed002's Note - It is not true at all - you can forget it. This is typical of someone who twists a story (dismissal of the Inter job rumour) and puts it on Twitter.}

Would I take Benitez back? Certainly not! In fact he didn't go soon enough! Too many people backed him for far too long. I have said before that he did a lot for our club and will always have an affinity with the club, the fans and the
city, BUT he also did a lot of damage that is going to take a lot of fixing as we are finding out now. Rafa? Thanks but no thanks!

One of the ed's suggests that Bale is over hyped after having a handful of good games (agree to a certain point and not worth the silly money being talked about).
But in my opinion Charlie Adam is another 1 season wonder over hyped X10, really hope we don't buy him in the summer.

You are probably right Red Knight and that's a fair comment and I suppose there is nothing wrong with looking on rivals sites and posting the odd sarcastic or derogatory comment. I mean that's what being a fan is about sometimes! I've even been known to do it myself! But you have to admit that this particular argument is incredibly dull! And I'm afraid part of being a fan is I will support my fellow fan over one from another team

Ed do we really need someone like canales when we have Suso?! he's so good, his passing range is like xabi alonso, i guess if he gets physically stronger , we'll see him pretty soon {Ed002's Note - Suso is still very young.}

17 ? rooney was a regular in evertons squad at that age

{Ed002's Note - He was an exceptionally chubby child and looked older. Or you could consider him the exception to the rule. Most 17 year olds would be knocked about enough to hit their confidence a little. Maybe next season Liverpool could ease him in to a few games and then let him go on loan for a year.}

I have been reading, with absolutely no interest at all, the ongoing posts between some of my fellow Liverpool fans and a certain MPez. I would like the squabbling to stop as it is now getting dull. Usually there are two sides to any argument so in the interest of fairness I would like to give some un-biased advice to both sides
To the Liverpool fans: stop replying to MPez as he is a tosser and he'll soon get bored and go away
To MPez: you are a tosser go away

@ Chris im sure Mpez is on here squabbling with your fellow fans cause a certain Blair Mayne never gets off the united site doing the exact same thing getting the exact same reaction Mpez does.So he prob just sees it as good for the goose. . .

I mean that's what being a fan is about sometimes! I've even been known to do it myself! But you have to admit that this particular argument is incredibly dull! And I'm afraid part of being a fan is I will support my fellow fan over one from another team

HE can shave his eyebrows and he even runs with his hands out like a girl. Come on LFC . .Do the right thing Dont Buy him, Redknapp knows how bad he is watch his face when the said player crosses the ball and hits the First defender, OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH nooooooooo. .

The guy has a awfull attitude but no doubting hes got bags of ability on teh pitch and is what i'd call a proper footballer. Watched the nuremberg vs bayern match mainly because i read an article about a young german who is yet to play for the national side but according to kicker magazine rates above all the german national defenders since he got into the 1st team at nuremberg.he's only played about 15 games so far in his career and is only 22 but he never seems to lose a ball in the air and also has pace and composure on the ball and seems like a raw talent that can go onto great things if coached properly, just wondered if liverpool have any interest in him as we are constantly linked with young players with talent.his name is philipp wollscheid and hes a central defender

Some of charlie adams play today was excellent, just like every other time iv watched him, he has the range of passing that we lack, yes he misplaces some passes, but that is only because he attempts such difficult passes just like alonso did for us., and just like xabi, he finds his man 90% of the time. im not saying he is as good as alonso, but if he can play like this in a team of blackpools caliber, its frightning what he could do for us with quality around him. i would welcome him with open arms.

City
arsenal
birmingham
newcastle
fulham
spurs
villa

if the team doesn't book there ideas up we cud end up with only 9 points from these remaining games, no gerrard, a defence with no leaks than the bellgrano an no imangination or creativity it looks bad

or

everybody pulls together, carroll an suarez click, the midfielders boss it an the defenders keep tighter than a ducks arse an we win all 7, finishing on 67 points with a slip up from spurs after win hammer them at anfield an finish 5th

ed which seems more likely ? {Ed001's Note - it is more likely to be somewhere inbetween and we finish 6th.}

For the summer we need :

LB- we can forget Baines, it aint happenin, jose enrique looks decent or oscar wendt

CM- looks like charlie adam is on his way but my choice wud be either javi martinez or pjanic

RW/ LW- willian wud be great but all depends on the fee, ashley young imo will choose united over us

ST- we need a class back up striker, because he will spend most of the time on the bench i think a youngster is the best option with either wickham or lakuku

ed wud like to hear your views {Ed002's Note - The players mentioned are generally viable except teh strikers. Wickham has just signed a new contract at Ipswich meaning it is less likely he will move this year. Anderlecht are seeking 30M euro for Lukaku and that has removed a number of the likely buyers form the chase as he is way too high a risk to take at anything like that price. If the price is lower, Liverpool may find themselves vying with the likes of Spurs and a couple of other clubs for his signature.}

i didn't kno wickham had signed a new contract an thought that anderlecht had started bein realistic, who in your veiw wud be the best option for the back up striker role ed ? {Ed001's Note - personally I think it would be a mistake to buy a back up, I would rather see the likes of Pacheco and Morgan as the back up. What is needed is a third striker who can play off Carroll or as a partner to Suarez. We have a lack of options if either Carroll or Suarez is injured, we also don't have that 3rd striker to play if we want to go with a 4-3-3.}

I agree that Ayala should never have been allowed on loan. I think that was down to our previous manager not liking footballing centre backs.skyrtle maybe average but I think he plays better in a more mobile back four. He looks better alongside Agger than he does next to Carra or the Greek. I would keep him as a squad player.We do need to blood the youngsters, but it should be at home games rather than being forced into playing them due to long term injuries.You didn't mention Sir Jamie and him no longer being up to it, were you being diplomatic Ed?.

Whoever signs for Liverpool this summer will come from the following players:

GOALKEEPER
-Hugo Lloris
-Igor Akinfeev
-Wayne Hennesey

CENTRE BACKS
-Gary Cahill
-Mussachio
-Mamadou Sakho
-Vertonghen
-Simon Kjaer
-Rolando
-Diego Godin

LEFT BACKS
-Leighton Baines
-Jose Enrique
-Oscar Wendt
-Aly Cissokho
-Emilio Izaguirre

WINGERS
-Ashely Young
-Dmitri Payet
-Sylvain Marveaux
-Balazs Dzsudzsak
-Matt Jarvis
-Eljero Elia
-Willian
-Antoine Griezmann
-Fabio Coentrao (as a winger)

MIDFIELDERS (A&D)
-Charlie Adam
-Yann M'Vila
-Moussa Sissoko
-Christian Eriksen
-Fernando Gago
-Javi Martinez
-James McCarthy
-Arturo Vidal

FORWARDS
-Karim Benzema
-Gervihno
-Fernando Llorente
-Ricky van Wolfswinkle
-Ola Toivonen
-Hulk
-Romelu Lukaku

I believe we'll sign 8 players, 9 if Pepe leaves (which I seriously doubt he will).

Players like Sanchez, Pastore, Aguero, Subotic, Johnson, Lamela, Neymar, Hazard, Hamsik, Kagawa, Sahin, Canales will not be coming. We may well bid for 1 or 2 but come Sep. 1, I don't see in an LFC shirt.
And I think some people are only setting themselves up for disappointment fantasizing about those players.

The summer will be big, as DC's said, but it would be nothing like Man City.
I'd expect two, perhaps three "high profile" players (Benzema and Coentrao).
There majority would be young (and relatively young) lads with huge potential. Think of Vidic, Nani, Evra, Valencia, Robben, Nasri, Adam Johnson when they were signed by United, Chelsea, Arsenal and City respectively.

Players like Sakho, Cahill, Baines, Marveaux, Dzsudzsak, Payet, Elia, M'Vila can, with a better trainer at a better, be world beaters.
As much as I despise the little t**t, Nani's a very good player, and Valencia too. Now imagine if Payet/ Marveaux/ Elia/ Dzsudzsak could do for us what those players do for United?
And for how much? Between £12m and £15m.
Nani's no Sanchez/ Ronaldo, but he's a terrific contributor to a United team that's well on it's way to winning the title.

My point here's that we don't need to spend on "galacticos" to be successful. We need the right players, players who'll be able to be a team. A nice blend of youth and experience. United, agahn, are a good example of this.
Individually and on paper, they're miles behind Barca, Madrid, Chelsea and City.
But they're a far better team than the last 3 of those clubs.
Theirs is supposed to be their "worst" team in "years". They've "failed to replace Ronaldo and Tevez".
They haven't signed a "big name" for two years.
Yet, they came one point short of winning the league last year, and are currently well on their way to winning the title.

For all their kamikaze spending, Madrid, City and Chelsea are set to finish the season trophyless.

A group of highly talented young (but not necessarily big name) players and proven winners working with and for each other, hardworking and proud to play for the club, an inspirational manager who can foster a winning mentality and never-say-die attitude, strength indepth is what we need.

We have that manager in Kenny. In Pepe, Carra, Raul, Stevie, Dirk, Suarez we've proven competitors and winners.
Cahill, Sakho, Baines, Coentrao, M'Vila, Payet/ Dzsudzsak/ Elia/ Marveaux would be all excellent youngsters who'd make a very good team.

And football is a team sport, right?
So personally, I couldn't be bothered if we didn't sign the Neymars and Pastores.
If you're forgetting, we have Suso, Dani Pacheco and Sterling who, if they keep progressing well, will be just as good.

So people should stop talking as though we never gonna win the league or any trophy if we don't buy Sanchez, Hazard, Aguero etc
These players are very good, no doubt, but not good enough to stop us competing and winning titles.

Guys lets be realistic

liverpool transfers in:

vargas/ baines for left back 10 to 15 million
adam is highly unlikely so gago/ lass or another good centre mid
benzema is not even close to happening there was no deal struck in january even if there was i highly doubt madrid would choose adebayor over benzema then they just idiots.so i expect some other transfer manely left wing and right wing and support striker

Enrique has been wrapped up.

Adam and Young are very close.

In talks with PSV about Dzsudzsak.

Benzema is being lined up for the summer and we want Cahill for CB.

Lloris or Hennessey will be targetted if Reina leaves.

Gerrard, Agger, Johnson and Spearing will stay.

Maxi, Cole, Jova, Aqua, Poulsen, Konch, Degen, El Zhar, Ngog, Insua, Soto, Aurelio set for the chop, and the possibility of Reina leaving.

The beauty of this site is that fans can give their opinions on what players are being talked about on various sites, papers and radio phone ins. The Man utd fans can come on and try and wind us up, but to be honest they now know that our owners will back the manager. Unlike their owners who are getting the fans to buy the club for them. 56 million we got in from sales and it was spent on players to replace the players sold. We will buy players come the summer, which we need to make our Team better.Some of our first team would be good future squad players but they have shown that over the season they are not good enough.We need our defence rebuilt as it as been our achilles heel for a few yrs now.Johnson will be leaving, so will Fabio.Soto and Carragher have shown they are past their sell by date this season. Kelly as always had injury problems since his youth, so to rely on him would be foolish. The same goes for Agger Whether it would better to sell him would be an interesting debate.I personally would keep hold of Skyrtle, but use him as a squad player. I like rolando from Porto him linking with Ayala would be my pick.We deffo need our defence retructured, I would hope Comolli can see our weakness. What do you think Ed? {Ed001's Note - in my opinion what was needed was Ayala to be in from the start of the season and given a chance. Now he is going to have very little experience of the Prem for next season, if we even keep hold of him. Kyrgiakos has to go, he is a liability, even at his best he is terrible. Skrtel is a very average player, better to get rid and have a youngster being the bench player so that they can gain some experience and not have the same situation we have currently.}

I'm with Ed on this can we forget Torres?

I was disappointed and shocked but by the same token certain promises (in terms of the playing squad) weren't kept; if you went for an interview and was told in 6 months you'd be driving a bentley and after 18 months you was still in your Audi then you'd ask why and consider if any promise was still going to be met.

We got good Money for him; we may have got better in the previous summer but with H&G in charge there was no way of knowing if that money would've been re-invested.

Remember his goals and forget how he left and sulked; only way.

If renia leaves how about al habsi to replace him could get him quite cheap and from what ive seen of him he looks quite good and should be with decent defence in front of him. what do you think?

Alright Ed(s). What do you think of blackburns youngster justin hoilett (sorry about spelling). He seems very talented and I've watched him cause nightmare for some teams, including us. what are your thoughts?

Dan The Man {Ed002's Note - I don't know enough about the player to comment - sorry. Perhaps a regular poster or two will have noticed him?}

Roman Abramovich may be ready to sell Chelsea flop Fernando Torres this summer, just months after buying him from Liverpool for £50m. The Russian's patience is said to be wearing thin with his goal-shy striker (Mail On Sunday)

may be we should buy him back for 20mills or so. . can be great as a back up for carroll! ! lols

city will probably pay £80m for him

I wouldn't oppose any deal that brings Gago to Liverpool, and that includes an injury prone 31 yr old steven Gerrard going the other way. What annoys me these days, is this we need Local lads likes Gerrard and Carra and an extremely overrated Jay Spearing.Why? Yes I am all for watching local lads progressing in the side if they are good enough.But everyone telling me Carra as passion because he is from Liverpool are mad.If Carra was from manchester he would have been let go 18 mths ago.If Jay spearing was so good why was he only a sub for Leicester in last yrs play offs.He is not good enough for LFC period and it doesn't matter where he is from. Jimmy Case the best local lad we let go, because of his behaviour off the pitch. As true local fans we accepted it. Now we are making average local lads Heroes with limited ability.Jamie Carragher has limited ability with the ball these days. Yet he has this guaranteed first team place because he is a local lad .The fact that he is past it doesn't come into the equation. Stop making local lads icons because they swear alot and wave their hands in the air.Rant over

This is what my mate texted me last night:

Baines has agreed to sign for us we just need to agree a fee with Everton.

Benzema agreed to sign in Jan, Real said wait until the summer. I expect a deal to go through.

Adam and Young are very close to signing.

We are in talks with PSV and Dzsudzsak currently and he is very interested in a move here.

Cahill is wanted for CB, Kenny and scouts have attended Bolton matches and are keen on the lad.

I expect one more signing, don't know whether it will be a winger or a centre mid.

there are reports that liverpool have made a £11.5 for Juan Manual Vargas. .eds have u heard anyhting of this? Do u rate Him?

Just saying on talksport that roman may sell traitor in the summer saying rumours are rife, that he would be prepared to cut his losses with him, even if its untrue if its in the papers today and he finds out its not going to make him very happy, isn't life great,

{Ed002's Note - I find it strange that your obsession with an ex-player continues. But to perhaps explain, it is a simple nonsense throwaway story.}

who cares, he is no longer a liverpool player, lets focus on the excitin summer ahead, who do you think will come in mate ?
ed ?

{Ed002's Note - There will certainly be quite a few changes over the summer. For me it is really tough to name arrivals. We know of a number of players who the club are interest in to one degree or another - and these are disussed day in and day out. But most players have several clubs vying for their signatures.}

Why do you find it so strange Ed? The player was adored and rippped fans hearts out. Shows how much fans loved him. He then tops it off by talking tripe about the club and how wonderful the Chelski dressing room is. . It is not so easy to build a bridge. Everytime he plays I hope he does badly and doesn't score.

I personally saw he was not the same player after his injuries and think LFC made a brilliant deal.

So I will just keep calling him 'Fernandont Scorres'

P.S. Ed's - do you know if he has bought a property yet or is he still hiding his wife from JT in a secure hotel?

No1SAfan

{Ed002's Note - For those who would accept it his leaving was on the cards since last summer. If you find his interviews upsetting it is best to simmply not listen to them. I don't know what his housing arrangements are. Chelsea do own property that he could be staying in, or perhaps they have let. I doubt that it would be viable to have bought somewhere so quickly.}

10 Apr 2011 12:31:19
Hi Ed's. Lots of rumours going on that we are close to getting Wickham. Have you heard anything? And do you have any thoughts on him, I haven't seen much of him.

No1SAfan {Ed001's Note - I don't think we are chasing him at all right now, though Jewell is keeping the club informed on his status. Sometimes he is pure class, other times he just looks like a lump with a terrible touch. With the right handling he can be a top class player, but he needs to work on his technique as he is far too reliant on being big and strong right now.}

---------------------------------------
i agree with the ed, he is still a little raw but that said i think he is well worth getting in the summer, cash plus pacheco maybe ? {Ed002's Note - I doubt that Pacheco would be keen on dropping down a division permanently - it is much more likely he would head back to Spain.}

Blair, apparently you're a sour rat! You're not from a 'sewer', no, you just don't taste very nice. LOL

The only post that keeps repeating is yours, i have NO problem with any fan coming on to this 'LIVERPOOL' site, but by telling the ED's to ''make a new section and jist post the chances of players being linked to stop the Clogging of the website'' is asking for a change to this 'LIVERPOOL' site, how is this NOT asking for a change HOW? Blaire may annoy you, but I'm quite sure he won't be asking the ED's to make new 'sections' on the ManU site as it's none of his business! !

Just reading the BBC gossip page and one of the papers has us on 'alert' over spurs acceptance that any bids over £30m would have to be considered with regard to Bale. Now not that i think he would ever come here but. Nice to know that we are being linked with the best around again! . £20m players were just a dream not so long ago for us.
looking forward to the summer and the excitement it will hopefully bring with new faces.

Oh and also read that Abramovich is planning to sell Torres in the summer after his appallinly dismal displays. lolol. Prolly not true but fun to read it!

I agree with the Ed on Jarvis and Etherington J. But havn't seen much of Hollitt. Etherington has been around for a long time and hasn't got any better imo.

Jarvis is good but is he LFC standered mate? I personally don't think so. We have some players that are not LFC standered at the momment. So when we get rid of them, what's the point of signing more?

We should and probably will look at wingers of a good standered i.e Young, Johnson (my favourite) Navas etc. Which i hope the owners and manager are thinking the same thing.

Blair Mayne YNWA

*******************
Jarvis is good mate. He can also use both feet. His attitude seems one where he will be a success at LFC. Albrighton is the same. I know Ed's are always against english and saying they are overrated & overpriced. But these two I would def have at LFC. Would you want Navas to come for big money and then get homesick or long for sunny skies after 6 months. Turan is the only foreign winger I would go for. Even Sanchez is a gamble, pay 30m then a) He flops or can't handle getting hacked down all game or b) he does brilliantly then longs for a move to Barcelona or something.

10 Apr 2011 11:37:38
Ed, i know this was a couple of years back but i saw this article about David Villa's potential transfer to us and i was wondering why he didn't make the move in the end?

Also could we make a move for David Silva? He has recently said he never wanted to go to Man City and would be a fantastic signing.

maka {Ed001's Note - the deal was agreed only for H&G to pull the rug out from under it by refusing to release the funds and cancelling the deal, one of the reasons players have been unhappy in recent seasons. As for Silva, no chance, why would City sell to us when there would be willing suitors in Spain?}

What is the issue with Marveaux? He is a pacy and skillful player and is coming for free. We have no wingers! U lot should be happy. Do you really wanna carry on seeing Kuyt & Maxi or Cole play out wide???

As long as he is not the only wideman recruited, I am happy. We need 3 wingers imo.

10 Apr 2011 11:19:45
I would like us to by the porto pair of Jorge Rolando and Jorge fucile I think they would give us more stability at the back and also they are the finished articles, with plenty experienced. Fucile can play in both full back positions, and Rolando is a world class centre half. these quality players would give kenny time to bring some of the younger players into the squad and build future foundations.Our failure the last couple of seasons is all down to our defence.I know I have been slaughtered in the past for daring to critisize the now overrated Mr Carragher but we need to restructure our back line.The easiest way of doing such a thing is bringing in players who have already have a understanding.Kelly Ayala Rolando Fucile would be a strong back four and one that could be together for a good few yrs Flanno Wilson Skyrtle Robbo as understudies. I would give Johnson ago at right midfield if we could convince him to stay.I think it is on the cards that he will leave this summer.

So the great bob Paisley 3rd best manager ever behind fergie an wenger ha ha ha ha I wud say don't make me laff but ur hilarious , fergie won nothing in his first 6-7 seasons and was getting the sack only he won the FA cup due to a replay , the great bob Paisley won 19 trophies in just 9 seasons now weigh that up .
As for wenger I don't even need to go as far as the great bob Paisley , just look at Joe fagan the 1st Brit to win a treble plus it was in his 1st season then in his 2nd and final season European cup runners up ( why he wasn't nighted is beyond me ) . Fergie is a great manager but also had bags and bags of time to get it right , 1 more note for u Brian clough was a better manager than wenger . . . The chef kd7 YNWA JFT96

Knighthood? Knighthood? Are you insane? Who needs a Knighthood for recognition? What has the Queen achieved with her life other than being born into a life of isolated privilege.

Men like Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly did not need rubbish like that they were men of the people it meant way more to them to have the love and support of the fans.

Shanks was a socialist a man with a strong working class identity and I don't think he would have wanted a title. Maybe Bob and Shanks were offered and refused?

Anyway there are two iconic gates at Anfield which are a greater testament to what those giants of football achieved.

Dont reduce their achievements by desiring a token from an out of date of touch English establishment.

These men were greater than any midget half german queen. They were not subjects but the MANAGERS OF LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB

Turan has 12 months remaining on his deal come the summer so he would not cost tens of millions of pounds.

I think he would be roughly 12-15million at the most.

I'd take him no question, but my preferred choice would ge the below.

A. Sanchez Udinese ( I'm convinced were monitoring this player but would cost 30 million).

S. Marvuaex. Rennes (free).

S. Defour S. Liege (lads a class act, would cost roughly 12 million).

E. Banega Valencia (same as Defour class act and be an excellent pairing with in centre mid for years to come, roughly cost 15 million).

S. Canales. Madrid (brilliant youngster would be hard to get but 12-15 million may get him).

The above and Turan would give us one of best midfields the clubs had for a decade.

First things first.I am not kenny's barber , Commoli's driver or Henry's P.A .
Nope , i'm just like 99% of the rest of people on this site and don't really
know for sure who will come in during the summer. Why not keep the bulls**t
for other club sites ?
That said i think it's possible to deduct likely signings by looking at other potential
suiters.Anyway here's my guess-list;
Rolando
Crisitho
Adam
Dzuslak (i know !)
.Mcarthy
Gervinho.
P.s can we stsrt a ?BUY EVER BANEGA? campaign ?
PPs wouldn't be suprised at a bid for Milner either.

As a spurs fan i fully agree with the bob paisley post! When we talk of bill nicholson we refer to him as either sir bill or just billy nick, he did what everyone said could not be done! they said the modern double was impossible, bill did it, they said europe was another imossible! again bill proved the doubting world wrong! had it not been for the most biased of refs spurs would surely have won the european cup as well instead of being ref'd out of the semi-final! sir bill and his team became the pathfinders for british football to follow, his name is carved in history, voted the third greatest manager in british history behind fergie and wenger in my opinion only fergie was better! so do as we do call him sir bob?

Can any one tell me why Bob Paisley (won three still a record) wasn't knighted , but Busby & Ferguson did, seems every spams manager who won the european cup get knighted not ours.

{Ed002's Note - It is not simply anything to do with the European Cup. Busby had been through the terrible situation in Munich and then he rebuilt the team again culminating in winning the European Cup. Ferguson works in a time where there is more recognition for sports people in terms of honours and media exposure make the game a much higher profile. Back in the day, long and successful service saw OBEs and MBEs handed out in all but the most exceptional cases.}

well should he get a postumous nighthood then ?

There was a petition on No 10's website a few years ago when I think Blair was still the Prime Minister. The official response from No 10 was that knighthoods are never awarded posthumously.

Out: skrtel soto aurelio g. Johnson cole + other known carppies

I really don't understand why some get on Skrtel's back? The lad is tough as nails, never gets injured, just goes about his business and yes maybe not first choice but def good enough for bench. And why the hell would you want to get rid of Johnson??? The bloke is class and Kenny coming back has shown his form come back. He is a excellent player (plus you haven't added a RB in your list above - so if Kelly gets injured?). Kelly is a better CD in anycase.

{Ed002's Note - I guess Young and Marveaux are the most likely. Anything else would be speculation at this time.}

I didn't no why the editor likes Mervaeux so much and wants to bring him, ( may be they both know each other)
Can the ed confirm me that he will sigin or has signed.?
From what i have heard LFC won't sign him.

Ed said Jarvis is not Liverpool Class, if Jarvis not Liverpool Class than how on the earth did this Injury prone guy would be Liverpool class.

OH GOD , . .please don't let LFC BUY Mervaeux. .

{Ed002's Note - Firstly, the question was "who were the most likely wingers to join", and Marveaux is the most likely. I can confirm that I have met with Marveaux but cannot confirm whether he will definiately be making the move or not. As of January, he was looking to keep his options open and there is certainly serious interest from Lyon.

You really need to start up a Facebook page to drive any final thoughts of joining Liverpool out of his mind. It is by far the best way to drive people away - much better than "Marveaux, Non!" flags - but they would surely help as well. Can any one tell me why Bob Paisley (won three still a record) wasn't knighted , but Busby & Ferguson did, seems every spams manager who won the european cup get knighted not ours.

{Ed002's Note - It is not simply anything to do with the European Cup. Busby had been through the terrible situation in Munich and then he rebuilt the team again culminating in winning the European Cup. Ferguson works in a time where there is more recognition for sports people in terms of honours and media exposure make the game a much higher profile. Back in the day, long and successful service saw OBEs and MBEs handed out in all but the most exceptional cases.}

I didn't TELL the Ed's what to do, I just said they could do something to the site which would Save them SO MUCH of their Time. This is because you Liverpool fans ask the Ed's the same questions Over and Over and Over again. .

Funny how a United fan thinks more of your Ed's than any of yous do, isn't it.?

MPez
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

If questions are asked over and over again like you say, what is this to do with you? The Man U side is a ghost town so why not go back there and give the ED's some of your wisdom to help try and bring some Man U fans back instead of them being on other teams sites mouthing off and interfering in things that don't concern them!

It's simple mate. You've never once seen me ask the Ed's on the Man.U site, to change it.

Why? Because it's got h*** all to do with me, what happens on your site. Just like it's got h*** all to do with you. When you suggest to the Ed's they should change OUR site.

You understand, yes?

"Aaron Lennon has emerged as a target fot Liverpool in the summer. He's young, english, quick, provides pace and is apparently unhappy at Spurs. . What do you think Ed?

Will people stop posting rumours about Lennon coming to LFC, He will not leave London, He has slagged off Liverpool before and Harry would not sell on of their star players to one of there rivals. And to be honest I would not really want him at Liverpool. Ross"

I hope to God Lennon isn't coming anywhere near us, in the five years I've seen him play for Spurs & England I don't think I've ever seen him pick out one of his own players with a cross. Absolute waste of space.

(How come there are so many 'wingers' now who cannot cross the ball - shocking?)

This MPez is strange. He spends most of his time on the LFC site, criticising fans and players for there opinion. As a manc chap is he worried about us to such an extent that he's hooked on all things LFC. Or is he really a closet LFC fan. At home posters of all the greats, Shanks taking pride of place in his bedroom.

{Ed002's Note - He would ask the same of the amunt of time Blair spends on the Manchester United pages.}

ha Blair.

This has got an equal amount to do with ME as has to do with YOU.

This is not a Liverpool-Fan-Only Site. This is a site based on Liverpool. The talks on this site are based around Liverpool, and ANYBODY can post on it, no just Liverpool fans.

Ed, have you seen this kid called lamela playing for river plate in argentina? he is a seriously good player and i can imagine that he will move to europe sooner rather than later {Ed001's Note - I have checked out some footage, but it is difficult to tell from a show reel, I have seen some right donkeys look like world beaters on youtube!}

Galatasaray midfielder Arda Turan is considering heading to another European club, and is open to English bids over his future, according to his representative Ahmet Bulut.

He has a contract with Galatasary so he cannot sign for another club, Bulut told Sport.co.uk.

I can therefore confirm that he has not signed with any side.

I can confirm we are talking with one very big club in Europe about a potential move in the summer.

Unfortunately I cannot name the club. In the next 10-15 days we are looking to finalise a deal.
It is not an English club we are talking to, but we are open.

Any move is subject to Gala[tasaray] agreeing a fee as he is under contract and Arda has confirmed he wants to leave this summer.

Turan has regularly expressed a desire to play for Liverpool next season, telling reporters: My dream is to play for Liverpool FC.

Turan was named best young footballer in the world by Spanish publication Don Balon, and has 43 international caps for Turkey at the relatively young age of 24.

Should Liverpool still be interested in a deal, they will have to compete with Cheslea, with Roman Abramovich reportedly wanting to lower the average age of the Chelsea squad.

While a price hasn t been confirmed over Turan s worth, it is sure to be in the tens of millions of pounds, and Liverpool and Chelsea will surely have the budgets to include the midfielder in their summer wishlist. Ed this shows you that he has not signed for Atletico Madrid yet.

Fair shout, like I said I don't see much live football (LFC aside) those are just the players that stood out from what i saw today.

Ed can you please clear this up for me. The Sissoko that everyone keeps talking about for dm, he's not the one we had a few years ago is he? I don't think he is, but just needed clarification. Cheers. {Ed001's Note - no it is Moussa Sissoko they are talking about.}

Evening fellow Reds,

Dont usually get the chance to watch much football (live or MOTD) but did today so thought I'd deliver my thoughts to the masses.

I understand to get back to competing for the league or even top four we're going to need some class players (mostly from abroad) but I kept my eye out for players in the lower reaches of the PL who could do a job for us as squad players.

Jarvis - Wolves (would hop all the way here if they go down)
Etherington - Stoke
Hoillet - Blackburn

I know a lot of you will say these players just arent good enough for LFC but I think they would help us climb the table as they cause other PL teams problems most weeks and would be reasonably cheap.

On to the manager issue, for me the job has to be KK's for as long as he wants it, I'm sure with some signings of his choice to get the team shape he wants we'll be confident and more than competitive in the short term and could build a winning mentality across the entire club (like haggis face at old trafford).

Would appreciate any thoughts from Eds or others.

J {Ed001's Note - Jarvis I can understand, but the others are not even close to being good enough in my opinion. Etherington has far too much baggage along with him anyway.}

So, I would love to know. .

When did I dictate how this page should be run.? NEVER. I just said the Ed's could make a page so it would save their time from having to write the same stuff over and over.

Hi Ed I know plenty of people think we are ok in CM or that Adam will be a good signing in that position if we do need someone but I have been watching closely this season a player that I think could be a very good choice namely Yousuff Mulumbu from the baggies. Would you agree?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - I am not sure, he is not the worst I have seen, but he is not a player I would choose. He would certainly strengthen the position, would offer more of what we need than Adam in my opinion. We need bite and fire in central midfield, Adam is not really that type of player.}
