Is it true Howard Webb has hand in transfer request at man utd

Any chances Brendan snatching him before citeh moves in for him like they did with tevez?

Have a good one guys

No way would they let their best player leave

Webb has been out of favour due to the emergence of Olliver. I think he will stay with Utd for one more year before joining Juventus.

For those that think the Red Sox don't have cash to spend: various reliable sites have the Red Sox spending from $150-175 million dollars on players wages in 2012, on top of the $52+ million they've spent on new players since the season has ended. Maybe we should get over this idea that they're poor...
Anyone who spent nearly a 100 million pounds and ended up 8th would be jumping at spending another 100 million. Just common sense

Red Sox and Liverpool are 2 different businesses in 2 different sports in 2 different countries in 2 hugely different markets , with 2 hugely different revenues and finances ...
But there is no harm of dreaming so keep at it.
Roy

Obviously its not sense thats very common at all since you're comparing to uncomparable sports and businesses. Red Sox spend a lot of money because they earn a lot of money. We spend what we earn. Don't use Red Sox as an example of how much money will be spent at liverpool.

Nevada

Anyone including eds know how much Red Sox' net income is per annum?

Cheers

Shak Attack {Ed002's Note - Given your use of the term "net income" I rather think it would be unwise t start trying to draw comparisons with Liverpool where there are none to be made.}

I would be happy to loan bent he knows how to score.

I would love Kristian Nemeth back at the club, although he suffered with a couple of injuries he was absolutley a special talent. I watched him all through his career and his balance skill eye for a pass and lethal finishing reminded me of Litmanen :( think he has been at about 6 clubs since on short term contracts before he's settled at Roda Jc, do you think we got this kid to young to soon that just didnt fit the jigsaw that we were at at this time? it was probably more physical back then without the emphasis on bringing in young talent.
Another player who slipped through the net was Laurie de valle, creative striker but I thought he was a little lightweight for us at the time although that numbskull hodgson gave him to Fulham for Konchesky.. ed's do you think these two will blossom into serious talents ?

10 Dec 2012 22:42:54
Hi guys!
With Alonso saying he wants to end his career with Liverpool... What are the chances of a January move seen as he's out of contract in the summer? It surly must be on the clubs mind... {Ed002's Note - He is not out of contract in the Summer.}

He's got 18months left I agree it must be on there mind Someone of his quality openly making it clear he wants to come back...

10 Dec 2012 22:36:24
Hey Eds, are we interested in the young O. Goal? He seems to be a good striker who troubles defences, forcing them to make mistakes. He can strike from anywhere and makes a lot of players nervous.

Looks like a good prospect, got a few goals this season too.

Jolly Red

I agree that Og is making great progress - he's scoring more than his half-brother N'gOg ever did! I also like the look of Owen Gole and Oppo Nent!

I think we should bring back the old guard Riise alonso crouch fowler and dudek and heskey lol the good old days will come soon I'm sure and let's not forget Owen in his prime

I thumbed up for lolz, Torres ain't a coming, but some of are red brethren won't read the sticky.

Hi eds how reliable do you find Suila as a website/rumour predictor? Michu is being touted as a target for silly money. I would love michu as I think would BR?
Daniellambretta {Ed002's Note - I have never heard of it. Sorry.}

Sulia's just a message board for people to post on. It may be posted on by 'reliable' journalists, or average Joes from the street. The reliability of what you read depends entirely on who's post you're reading

If stoke and Swansea both Lose their next matches, and we can capitalize. Well be 8th in league, with Hopefully some resources for January. These next few games are crucial. If we can win these next to, champions league is definetly possible. I would be please with a top 6. As long as everton don't finnsh above us;)
AnfieldUSA

I think if we finish above Everton, then we will most definitely finish in the top 6 ..
Roy

Dude, why stop there? If Arsenal lose, we will be 7th. In reality though mate, the next few games won't determine where we end up on their own - we are only half way through the season - a lot can happen, and probably will.

10 Dec 2012 22:04:43
Not being funny but Berbatov and Suarez would be lethal up front together. Berbatov has creativity and can finish

what do you guys think?

Suarez likes players who work hard and press the ball high up the pitch.

Man Utd may sign our washed up old strikers - it doesn't mean we should do the same back - NO for me.

LIVERPRES

BR bases his teams on work-rate, energy, passing and collective effort. Where would Berbatov fit into that?

cozinoz

Actually Berbatov is probably a good choice for us. I know many were saying no thanks last transfer including some of the eds (maybe due more to his age etc) but in terms of ability he is excellent.

He would link up brilliantly with suarez because it wouldnt matter so much that he doesnt have a great work rate as his passing and placement are amazing. He would slot through balls to Suarez with ease....not going to happen though
Gareth {Ed001's Note - more because of his workrate and his 40 a day habit meaning he is highly unlikely to have a long career.}

this year its michu,last year it was ba/cisse.
michu might stop scoring soon just like ba/cisse.
we need a proven goalscorer that has been scoring for years.or a youngster.
one or the other.

Like messi ;)

Isn't Ba one of the top PL scorers?

U mean the ba that has 10+ goals this season already??

Is Sterling gonna sign the contract? Or has it stalled.

Just an educated guess but i guess end of this week he will sign.

FowlerGod.

10 Dec 2012 21:22:32
Forget Ince, I was extremely disappointed when we sold Alexander Kačaniklić as part of the Konchesky deal, one player I'd love to see back at the kop but not for silly money.

mozzilfc {Ed001's Note - have you watched him play? He offers nothing! Every time I watch him, he goes missing for large parts of the game and never gives Riise any protection at all. I just don't get why anyone would want him back, he is not in the same league as Sterling or Ibe or Petersen. In fact Jack Dunn is a far better player than him as a left winger too.}

Aaaah to be fair he does have quite a few flaws but I think any young player under Rodgers could flourish, no matter who (or even if we do) sign in Jan, they have my support and I hope they bang in the goals!

mozzilfc {Ed001's Note - I think they need to have some ability to begin with personally.}

Put yourself in BR`s shoes.
IF, you were thinking of resting Stevie G, who would you replace him with, and formation?
Piddy.

Shelvey, Hendo, Suso, Coady, Sahin to name a few who have abilities to play in more of an central attacking role.

FowlerGod.

On current form, Lucas, Shelvey and Hendo would be good.

cozinoz

If I was BR I'd ask Stevie to call it a day on his international football career, if he wants to play top level football for a year or two. Otherwise it's time to seat down next to his pal carra on the bench every week.

Dave lfc

Harsh Dave when u consider how many goal scoring chances he's created this season (looking at opta)

IMO he should really only play 1 game a week, when he plays more than one he struggles

He has plenty more to offer i.e. killer passes and spraying the ball to the eings, he still the best at that in our team

Hey eds and fellow reds, what do you guys think of signing coloccini, the guy is class

He's like 30 now... And Newcastle haven't looked exactly stable lately. And I doubt he could displace Agger and Skrtel.

Shawcross is better.

Only 17 points off 1st with over half a season left to go! Not likely but possible

Haha love it! Me optimistic but better then the moaners on here :)

Yes mate 17 points haha 5 off our total points thats 6 victorys to man utd losing 6 ur crazy one good run this is what happens

After a whole load of early season posts by people stating we would be in a minor relegation battle its nice to see that we are not only 4 points off the top four but 5 points clear of 14th....Im saying thats just as important, progress being made and only City and Utd in better form in the last 11 games.......
Now FSG show us what yer made of in the window!

And stoke are in better form i think we were fourth in the form table but i looked saturday so maybe our win took us above them

I know this sounds quite conceited but I suspect that many LFC targets who choose other clubs eg Sigurdson are put off by the expectation placed on them when they put on the Red shirt. Players with bottle will sign and many don't succeed either but at least they try.

Sigurdson went to spurs coz they pay crazy wages we don't.

Think it's more to do with the salary package mate.

Hello all.

Eds could you please answer me a couple of questions....

Firstly Doni. Is he still at our club? What is the deal with him, he never plays or was on the bench when Reina was injured and I never see him in the training pictures.

Secondly, Assaidi? Why does he hardly play? Seen him a few times in Europa league and he looks quite handy yet he never plays in the prem and I hardly ever see him on the bench. Is there a reason for this?

Cheers in advance! {Ed002's Note - (1) Doni is currently still an employee of the club but do not expect to see him play again. (2) I do not pick the team - that is a Dear Brendan question.}

10 Dec 2012 20:13:24
Afternoon eds.
Would you say for most players now liverpool are behind spurs an arsenal to join?is this because we will not pay the wages or we don't have the money? In spurs case we must have as much as them an we have a bigger fan base for more income aswell,plus at the moment 3rd and 4th place is up for grabs for at least 6 teams us included! Just your opinion pls. Nice1
Kp {Ed002's Note - That is not how transfers work.}

Have you seen some of the baseball players fsg have signed recently? Yup, money's definately the real issue here... As a fellow person who dislikes spending millions of dollars on flops, I can understand why they've been a bit aprehensive. Maybe if it were us fans spending that kind of money we would see there side too but instead we expect unrealistic standards sometimes. Not saying I wouldn't love Messi, Ronaldo, or Neymar to sign, it's just a little unlikely.

10 Dec 2012 19:50:20
Did anbody else notice they wrote LFC over the ball used for the reserve game against Palace?
I can see it now...."Hey,HEY thats our ball,cant you see LFC written all over it? Theiving Palace persons,get your own ball!"
How cheap can a football club be?
An amused WelshBoyDave

Im gonna sound like a tosser sayin this but i thought id pass it on anyway welshboy.....youve clearly never played at a decent level of football, otherwise ya would know its standard for the clubs balls to have the clubs name written on them,its always been the case,back in the day we used to hit a moody pass over the wall at melwood and have ya mate outside on melwood drive ready to grab the ball and we would sell them in school for 10 quid haha those were the days,ive done the same at bellfield,hittin stray ones over the fence into the back gardens,and they would send ya round to knock on the house to get the ball back,the trick was to say noone was in and call past on ya way home after trainin, still in ya trainin kit and ya would have yaself another ball to sell,the kids in school loved them cos they knew they were real lfc or efc match balls cos it would be written all over them.....ofcourse im not gloryfying it, just tellin a little story of the auld days and the tricks we would get up to,normally i sign off my posts but ill leave this one anonymous for a change to save the embaressment and abuse that will defo follow it

Evening to ya' Johnson! I can tell its you!

Nick

Hendo, Shelvey and Stirling must be doing the same, they can't hit a barn door with a banjo most of the time

11 Dec 2012 19:51:08
I get that mate. My old local club(Fishguard Sports F.C) used to do it also. I thought it was funny because the game is clearly at Prenton Park,i guess i just thought it would be self explanatory where
the ball came from.

Nice to see some positivity back on the site. We are now only 4 points off 4th position and gotta say things don't look as bad.

We are playing good football and creating lots of chances in virtually every game upto now. Financially we are in much better shape than we have been for last 3-4 years. We have set up one of the best academies in European football which we are now starting to see the benefits of this system.

There is an abundance of talent ready to burst into the first team. We have already some great young prospects playing first team football regularly already in Suso, Sterling and Wisdom.

We still have Sahin, Lucas and Assiaidi to hit top form and we still have Borini to come back.

I am really glad to see us in the position we are in at present. I. Not saying we will get fourth but we have put ourselves in a great position after this weekends results.
If we can keep up the good work until January and still be close to fourth I can't see how this doesn't help us attract quality players.

We would still be in Europe (albeit in a lesser tournamount than CL), but Still an attraction regardless.

We would still be looking healthy in league if we were around fourth that is, which is also an attraction.

In this January market it seems there is a long list of strikers wanting to move or have little more than six months left on their deals.

T. Walcott.
D. Sturridge.
F. Llorente.
K.J. Huntelaar.
A. Milevsky.

All the above are in the last 6 months of their contracts, and if we were still in the race for fourth, why couldn't we attract any of these? They would be guaranteed first team football in a exciting team. We would be still in Europe and still in race for CL football and the FA cup.

They would be coming to a top European club with a lot of prestige around the world so I see the above as attainable. Here's to an even better second half of season.

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - Sturridge is not in the last 6 months of his contract.}

10 Dec 2012 19:56:53
Thats twice you've been told,do you even read what you type? Its akin to spam honestly. Your obviously an expert scout JonesRed as you've identified all these unknown gems so why not ask Brendan for a job?
This may seem harsh,but dear god its every week he posts the same list of players,why? It's not January and all the posters here know all about Sturridge,Walcott,Llorente,Huntellar and Zarate.
Please dude,find something else to post.

Don't expect big signings in January. The money will be spent in the summer with the money from Carroll, Downing and Henderson.

I really hope Henderson stays.

None of these players are certs to go, Carroll the most likely. If we are only going to sign one or two players it don't make sense to get rid of Downing and Henderson, our squad is to thin already. Personally I think we will sign two players and let Cole go if we can find a club that he would sign for.
I would be happy to keep all of them untill summer and add 2 players in January League position Europa and FA cup still to play for.

hi eds is there any chance the bomber will get a game this season? {Ed002's Note - I would doubt Gerd Mueller will be moving to Liverpool in January - perhaps he is a more realistic summer target.}

Tony Brown must be in his sixties so I can't see it, although in his prime he'd have walked in to our present team

Chris in Tamworth

I think he means Herol Graham, who was on the virge of breaking into the starting XI prior to his defeat by Sumbu Kalambay in 1987. At 53 I can't really see him featuring now. Plus he has a well documented homesickness problem, hence his decision to remain in Sheffield.

What about all the players we 'missed out on' in the summer? Are we really missing Dempsey and Siggurdson. Seems we dodged a bullet there.

I think Dempsey would 've been more useful for us than he is at Spurs .. they have similar players where we dont ..
As for Siggs , glad it did n't work out,Shelvey or Hendo can play in his position and they offer a bit more.

Roy

Throw Adam Johnson into that mix as well

Hopefully with a bit of luck we will miss out on sturridge.

10 Dec 2012 18:33:54
Hi eds,

Is there any way we can give Sahin back? {Ed002's Note - I do not the provisions of his contract but there will no doubt be a means to cut it short.}

Ridiculous. He's a top player who has performed poorly for the past few games. He was superb earlier in the season but, as we all know, when your form drops for a few games it is time to get rid. Throw Gerrard, Sterling and Allen out as well because Glen Johnson and Hendo are this week's Gods on the pitch.

Top player, yeah sure, that's why he
is on loan!.

Who is looking at Emmanuel Emineke? I noticed him on FIFA 13 and decided to watch some YouTube videos. He looks very pacey, but highlight videos are just the best bits. Thanks for the site, Eds. {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anyone showing interest right now.}

Top transfer targets: Ince, Sturridge, Walcott. No mysterious source, just a hunch based on everything I've been reading and experience of previous January transfer windows.

Walcott is the only player who is good enough.

How much would neymar cost? I think we could get him at a reasonable price. I know it's not fifa or footy manager but I think an enquiry should be made {Ed002's Note - Neymar is not going to be moving to Liverpool in January.}

What about summer if we got top 4? {Ed002's Note - No, Neymar will not be moving to Liverpool in the summer either.}

What about if we win the league, re-locate to Brazil & make Pele our new manager?

Nah move brazil here it's closer

That'd work!!!

What about if we sign Neymar's mum, sister and Uncle for the reserves?

Sanchez will not be moving to liverpool, Who in the right state of kind would move from Barca to Liverpool that gets games ok he isn a regular like last season but if he was available theres no doubts a bigger club playing CL football would hijack a deal

Someone who loves football pal
Will move to us I'm sick of all
Negativity ! We lose people moan
We win you still moan ! We WILL
Get 4th spot and attract quality
Next season not that we haven't
Got any already the only reason
He ll not move is cause we won't
Pay him £150k a week cause were
Not daft

"cause were
Not daft"

==============
Are you sure ?
So you think the logical rational that a player may not choose Liverpool because of lack of CL is negativity !? many more calls it reality .. if (IF) we get top 4 and we are playing champions league then the likes of Sanchez and maybe Messi may consider Liverpool, but then if someone offering twice the wage .. where (if you were that player and have no link or love for Liverpool) would you choose to go?

Roy

What state of mind was luis garcia in then??

10 Dec 2012 17:26:28
I haven't posted for a good while because of all the doom and gloom on this site but I thought I would add my view of yesterday's game.
We had no preparation time due to the delayed flight on Thursday (Allan and Stirling both looked knackered)
Half the team played on Thursday night/West Ham have had 8 days rest
West Ham Battered Chelsea the week before and were full of confidence
West Hams penalty was a joke and the own goal was unfortunate (so was our own goal)
We had 60 odd % possessions
More attempts at goal
We were without our main attacker
Our squad is stretched
I will take a 3-2 win away from home anytime.

I for one are proud of the team after yesterday, yes we can play better but West Ham is a horrible place to go and try and play football.
I thought the attitude and commitment was fantastic and was there for all to see; it has been lacking for a good few years! We go one down and are a beaten team, in the Tottenham game we showed the same commitment and deserved a least a draw after a terrible start.
There are still going to be bumps along the way and it is going to take time but we are improving no doubt about that.

GGK

Here, here!! ...every word bang on the money. All you whingers who on this site take note. And as the aforementioned won't say it I will .... Glen Johnson, what a goal son!

Really feels like this game could be the turning point for the season. Just because a win like this increases self confidence. Three goals with the main goal scorer not playing, a little bit of luck (opponent's own goal), the "system" showing some really amazing football being played at times...and snatching a win from the jaws of draw/defeat..... ra1969

10 Dec 2012 17:24:02
Joe Allen is 22 years old, a young lad, out of all the great players Swansea had under Brendan, Brendan went all in to get Allen. A player who has been scouted heavily and watched by all the top teams in the prem. he is then thrust into the liverpool fc starting line up in the wrong position and he has performed incredibly with that in mind. He gives 100% his passing is superb, he can tackle, intercept, he reads the game great, he covers well. And when he's further forward he can attack and score, we will see in the future for sure. He is the reason we have dominated possession in almost every game this season. For such a young lad we need to keep the faith and the support and he will repay us hard, just like shelvey and hendo they will come good, lets not destroy these early years for them like Lucas.

10 Dec 2012 17:52:53
Mate Allen is good but his current form is worst and needs break or needs to be dropped if we want to fight for top4 then we need to play players who perform. Even sterling needs break and assaidi should start if we continue playing players who don't perform then what the likes of assaidi or hendo think we need to be honest mate even hendo and assaidi are liverpool players.

I'd like to see him have a shot

Personally, I think the midfield combination is wrong, I like Allen and Gerrard but I have doubts they can play together as a combination. Stevie has been forced to decrease his power game as the legs wont hold up and Allen is simply not that type of player and therefore, as notable against a few teams this year (e.g. West Ham, Everton) we really need a bit more power and thrust in midfield. I think Jonjo adds this but still has plenty of improving to do.

Andy K

Not addressing all aspects of his game, but his determination has been there. Remember him marking Fellainia? Like 2 feet taller than him and twice as thick. The kids got determination, on top of talent.

10 Dec 2012 17:23:17
If we are either in or around the top 4 come Jan 1st then I think if FSG should back BR and instead of buying 2-3 decent players like Sturridge Walcott or Michu they should allow BR to go out and buy someone of the calibre of Cavani.

Cavani is the difference he and Suarez would be amazing together and with Borini coming back in February we would then have options.

Supported by the likes of Lucas, Gerrard, Allen, Sterling, Shelvey, Sahin and Suso we would have a fantastic attacking line up that would scare the proverbial out of most clubs in the league.

One player of Cavanis calibre would make the difference, go on FSG make a statement of intent...

Wizard

Er ...Wizard, how would FSG overcome the small problem (as pointed out by many of our 'negative' colleagues on this site) that perhaps Cavani has better options? {Ed002's Note - Cavani is not going to be moving to Liverpool in January.}

I think they should but it's a case of balancing out the risk against the books. I don't think they are joking when they say this season is about balancing out the books!

Think the wizard has been consuming too much potion.

10 Dec 2012 17:16:57
Henderson has won some of his doubters over in the last month or so, he has potential on his side. Lucas took time to mould himself into the team, he needed to find his position, Henderson has had much the same problem. It's not about the language or the culture directly, that's easy enough through football and body language which soon clicks into place, pointing is universal. It's about knowing how the other man next to you thinks when in possession.

Liverpool's midfield has been changed ever since Rafa walked out the door. Roy lost Maschers and got Raul and Poulsen. Kenny got rid of both and got Henderson and Adam. Now Rodgers has got Allen and Sahin. It's all sixes and sevens. In fact the amount of new players we've got in over the last few seasons is ridiculous. Just like the manager exchange we've been running the last few years, which some would like to see continue.

We need consistency, our midfield is dynamic. Sahin can leave early, in hindsight he was always going to need half his loan spell just to settle in. I think wasteful, but he could have been excellent, so it was a ballsy gamble. Already this season playing passing possession football, we've seen Jonho Shelvey and Jordan Henderson coming into form and confidence, as well as Sterling, Suso and Wisdom introducing themselves to the Premiership and Europa proper.

But Allen has showed he's got a cool head, although people are slating him, he does do a simple and tidy job more often than not, he's still learning and getting to grips with Liverpool F.C, but he's doing very well in the passing and possession aspects. I see him becoming vital in time, if he plays well Liverpool will play well. As Lucas has showed. They've not played much together, so they'll need time to gel. Allen has not rested since last season for Swansea, he worked for Team GB in the Summer, so he's due a rest or an understandable tired patch will happen.

As Henderson was the season before playing U21 football for England in the Summer, then worked for us all season (48 games) and then went with full England team in the Summer, he's not had a decent rest since he signed for us, when we think about it fairly. Wenger would have cried his eyes out and stamped his feet about at this.

Once are midfield is tightly knit and fluid in movement, with possession then we'll be extremely hard to break down and the pressing without the ball is quite good already. We need a decent forward who can ease pressure in matches and help finish off games and we'll look much better off for the second half of the season. Keep the faith, we've come a long way since the loss to W.B.A on the first day of the Season.

Cheers brendan for that! Will be happy with a winger and a striker to finish off the games! Messi and Falcao will be perfect but if not ill settle for Walcott and Llorente ;-)

Ive had confirmation of strong interest from a Spanish club in Theo Walcott.

A bid imminent at the start of the window.

Could it be Barcelona with Tello going the other way?

Food for thought.. He doesnt appear keen on a move to Anfield aparently.. Hope this is wrong.

Still remains our top target though.

Apples ;96; {Ed002's Note - There is certainly some level of interest from Italy.}

Not that I'm fussed but where is 'Walcott not keen on LFC' story come from?

I actually heard that theo used to be a liverpool fan? If Wenger doesn't even know what's up with Walcott, how should we.

I would be very happy with Walcot and Honda this window then Lorrente in the summer ( they wont let him go now and we will hopefully be back in the champions league ). Although I think Sturridge is the player they are going for.

Honda would be a dream, but likely to stay just a dream i fear
Gareth

Honda's a dream, but just imagine what he would do: not only add a world class attacker to our team but financially put us back up top in asia. It would be a smart move financially and to help out the team. But it's just a dream...

These are the players i would like to see us sign in jan ,been realistic,we havent got much money to spend
jelavic-( the best one-touch finisher in the league)
maybe offer downing +cash

wallcott-(very quick improving everytime he plays&can score goals,but only at the right price ,contract almost finished

kouyate-senegalesse player -can play cb or cdm big strong ,quick & is only 22&wouldnt cost the earth.

all in all if we can get these deals done outa 20mil it would be money well spent & good buissness,after all weve borini coming back & with these signings we would have plenty of options going forward,just my opinion
IRISH RED

Jelavic? Going off of current form and common sense in general, Jelavic would come no where close to moving Suarez out of the central striker role. Not even close.
On top of the fact that Everton wouldn't sell to us because of, well, history and that they're currently fourth and want European football.

10 Dec 2012 16:01:52
Eds do you think where we are in January will affect transfer targets? Say if we are in the top 4 by January do you think more players will consider or does it not work like that?

Thanks londonred {Ed002's Note - It won't change anything.}

I am so happy we won yesterday. Especially with the way we came back. Shows great courage and determination. I really like Brendan Rodgers, his style of play, his man management. However, I think I will really start respecting him when he drops Gerrard. Our captain has been below average in the last 4-5 games. He needs a wake up call. No one before the club. YNWA

10 Dec 2012 15:48:17
We are now only 4 points off 4th spot, and if you think about it thos 4 points could easily came against Swansea, Everton or even Man City as we should of won those games.

10 Dec 2012 15:46:19
What's the deal with Sturridge? From what I can gather he wants to play a more central striking role (similar to Walcott in that respect) but as we have seen with Borini - Suarez plays the central striking role with too attacking players either side (Borini & Sterling) so if Sturridge joins LFC he play on the right side of Suarez with Sterling on the left or he doesn't play at all when Suarez plays which is exactly what his problem is at Chelsea.

Im personally not sold on the Lad, I don't think he works hard enough for the team, but I also cant seem to understand why he would want to come to LFC to be in the same position as he is at Chelsea.

Am I correct or have I missed something!?

NS

Excellent reply...walcott and sturridge both want central role...walcott wil leave if huntelar joins arsenal..coz huntelar will only play in the middle...i am not sure where will walcott end up...spending 15 mill on sturridge is a heavy risk..

Walcott will end up at Anfield! Nailed on!

He might prefer to play in the middle but equally, he'd probably prefer to be in our starting XI than on Chelsea's bench.

In the last 11 games only Man United and Man City have taken more points than us. We have some easy games coming up too.

BthekingB

Never easy games in prem mate, on the day anybody is capable of beating anybody....Jayspearings Ghost

There are no easy games in the prem, we have to earn the right to play then need to score, if we take 1 game at a time as we have been doing will be alright.

And just look at our record in the supposed 'easy' games. I'd rather we stuck with difficult ones!
ND

ND we've actually come some way in fixing that record this season. Our problems this season were with Arsenal, Utd., Chelsea, Spurs, and City. We've beaten all of the newly promoted teams for the first time in what seems like forever.

And what is the points gap to Man u.
17 points is huge after 16 games.

After analysing yesterday's game opta are going to include a new stat for all future West Ham game. It will read:

Possession:
West Ham
Away Team
The Sky

On yesterday's stats opta have concluded the possession stats read:

West Ham 10%
Liverpool 70%
The Sky 20%

This stat will be used for any team Fat Sam manages in future!

I have slagged off joe cole in the past, and I admit that but I take my hat off to him, with all the abuse he's got, we have HIM to thank for winning the Europa League group and even qualifying for the knockout stages (goal against young boys) and have HIM to thank for the 3 points yesterday. Wherever he ends up in January I wish him the best of luck, and if he chips in a few more goals before then, ,my admiration will just grow. Well done Joe.

AsianRed

I am happy for the lad but his overall performances are far from convincing. I hope he does well as I do any Liverpool player but I am still far from sold. I just dont think he is up to speed. Very tidy build up and finish for the goal none the less.

yesterday's game, when i looked at the bench, i was quite disappointed. on another note BR made the changes count but we really need serious reinforcements this jan. one or two attackers, someone to change the game for us when we're down at half time. with a good jan transfer we'd be set for a nail-biting climax come season's end. in BR i trust!

Over the past 11 games in the Premier League only Man Utd (27) & Man City (24) have taken more points than Liverpool.

but you haters on here will keep on hating (and criticising lfc players!)

i for one am continuing to see steady progress and truly believe it will continue to happen whilst we chip away at the league table and continually rise up it under the leadership of Brendan Rodgers.

Joe Allen is a cog, just like Lucas. what he does will become more essential as the squad around him becomes stronger through investment over a period of time. a box to box player who hasn't had any rest since the beginning of last season i'd like to add!

Jordan Henderson is continuing to develop and flourish under Rodgers, box to box as well, tackles, assists & goals already being added to his game.

Even Stewart Downing was pretty faultless yesterday playing as a wing back, for anyone that disagrees then re-watch the MOTD highlights especially the 2nd half. Matty Taylor never threatened him defensively and he could of had 2/3 assists had Sterling, Shelvey & co not fluffed their lines with their finishing/heading.

most of you on here seem intent on criticism, i felt the need to take the time and point out that all are either continuing to improve or are already hugely important in the long term to where LFC are heading. progress.

s.p

But the first 5 games they left us standing in the dust, with our thumb up our own a*se.

Man utd man city spurs and norwich are above us over the last 11

BR is doing a great job.
He has provided a structure that we can build on each year with the youth players gaining experience and improving.

We all should give Allen, Henderson Suso ect time, they are still very young and will improve with time.

I remember a few years ago when people said Lucas was a wast of space and now he is one of our main players.

get behind BR the young players and the team.

Sorry we didnt spend 15m on allen..to give him time

Did we spend 15m pounds to physically exhaust him? Remember the players he's had to mark, Fellaini off the top of my head, in a position he usually doesn't play. Our entire midfield has struggled without Lucas, including our dear captain Gerrard. He needs a rest, much like Sterling and a lot of our very thin team. It's a hard task to come to Liverpool and perform to your, clearly unrealistic, liking...

10 Dec 2012 15:17:44
What do the eds think will happen to Joe Cole and Downing in January? Is it likely they will be moved on? Both have improved allot in recent weeks. {Ed002's Note - Please see previous answers.}

Cole's on huge wagers (£90k a week i think) and he isn't playing regularly enough to justify them, let alone produce enough on the pitch, which he can't, even if he could, unless he plays which is not often. so there is a problem.

downing i understand is on £60k-£80k a week, which again is huge wagers for a bench players. i actually think downing is a quality player, a classic english winger. but he is down on his luck and learning a new position which at 28 can't be easy. but he's working hard and rodgers see's his desire and passion, so he does play. whether through an injury to another player or not, he's played 19 games already this season and scored 3 and assisted 2 as well as forcing an own goal against norwich to open the scoring. so he's certainly improved on last season already this season, in half the time, tbh he was very good towards the end of last season and he was awarded motm in the league cup final.

if downing goes, then so be it, but i think he's useful and can offer the team a good balance on the left, i'd not sell unless a fair offer comes in, he's worth more than £5m-£6 million which is being quoted, he's still in the england set up or at least was over the summer and now he's becoming more versatile in his duties and position. {Ed002's Note - It needs to be clear that Cole's wages include a significant element of his signing on fee.}

I personally think we are starting to get to grips with BR's style of play and managing to churn out results. Add to that the return of Lucas (needs a few more games to be fully fit) and Borini, with a few shrewd purchases in Jan and the youngsters stepping up to the mark, top 4 is looking more and more likely. We have a good run of fixtures coming up and are only 4pts from that elusive 4th spot. If by Jan we can achieve top 4 then we may look more appealing to possible transfer targets.

Well done BR and the lads, lot of hard work going into making us a force to be dealt with again. The future is looking promising.

More rumours Ed:-
Adam Empuen - Lyons
Raul Sychepon - Real Betis
Tex Donteosis- Olympiakos
Do you think there's any chance of these players this January Ed?

Of course not- they are all made up names from anagrams but they make as much sense as some of the silly rumours currently doing the rounds on this site. Can you work out the phrases each is made from? Clue - each player is made from 3 words.

I for one think Brendan is doing a fantastic job,on such limited resources. In Brendan we trust YNWA.

On your own mate. Allen was not cheap and he is rubbish. Borini is not cheap and he is rubbish. Limited resoures i don't think so. Wasted resources YES.

Another satisfied Liverpool supporter.Who by the way dont sign his post, same old same old.
I take it your a Rafa/Kenny supporter? Get use to it mate,they are never coming back..move on. Borini injured incase you forgot. Allan no good eh, i suppose Kennys signings turned out better did they? You should support the Manager/team, come back here in July see where we finish.

Lee73

I don't think he's on his own mate

"On your own mate. Allen was not cheap and he is rubbish. Borini is not cheap and he is rubbish. Limited resoures i don't think so. Wasted resources YES."

Haven't posted on this site for ages due to garbage like this, Allen is not rubbish at all, he is a quality footballer and brilliant braking up play, and still very very young, I remember Lucas being "rubbish" and look now !

I bet you were moaning like hell yesterday when Cole came on and Henderson.

We are four points off fourth with a really thin and young sqaud, our only loss since the UTD game was Spurs and we hammered them, Brendan has got us playing some great football, when he brings in his type of players and a finisher i dare to dream where we could end up this season, 4th is very much realistic.

So the OP "not on his own" because InBrendanITrust!

G BOX

Hes not lol
rb

How can you rate Borini as rubbish when he has only played a handful of games?? As for Allen who has been given a role of breaking up play and when in possession keeping the ball moving along the midfield and out to the flanks which he's doing a pretty good job at. It's no wonder you didn't sign your post.

IMH

Allen is definitely not rubbish mate, you're clueless, and what, Borini had played like 3 games

You were probably one of the fans who said Lucas is rubbish, get rid of him

2nd poster; not sure if you're being deliberately obtuse or you're just slow, but the op was commenting on the fact that Rodgers has an extremely weak squad to pick from, not the fact that he got to spend 30m on 4 players. LFC squad has been slowly weakens by age, bad ownership and sorry purchases over the last 6 years to the point where we are now forced to play kids and players that just aren't good enough (Cole, Downing, etc) but we are still performing and getting the results.

SpudRed

Not on his own mate. I agree and anyone who has watched them this season can see the progress that they are making. Borini cannot be judged on a couple of months. The average age of the team has dropped dramatically and the youngsters will only improve. They are playing some of the best football for years and managed to beat a kick and rush team like Fat Sams by sticking to their style wearas in the past they would have folded. Open your eyes and support them ( if you are a supporter ) if not, you are on the wrong site!

Rubbish no, expensive yes. Have some patience and see how they turn out.

Lol..i cant understand why allen is quality...for 15m we expect more than neat passing,..has nothing to offer going forward doent shoot.i have never seen a defense spliting pass from him,cant take up good attacking position...we said he was rubbish they say he is played out of position..now lucas is back we still havent seen what he brings to the team..they keep placing henderson on the players they want out of liverpool,hendo shows more attacking intent that this guy... {Ed001's Note - he was often in good attacking positions against West Ham, did you actually bother to watch the game, or could you not see it from your bandwagon?}

10 Dec 2012 14:03:05
seen a bit of critiscism regarding some of our players, some of it justified i might add but i think Allen and Hernderson are doing brilliant for 2 players both under 23 still!thats what we have to remember these guys are playing in the premership regurlarly at that age, they will get better as they gain experience, add in sterling, shelvey, wisdom, suso , all who are under 21, these guys are playing regularly, imagine how good there all going to be by the time they hit mid 20's?!its actually quite scary we mihgt have the basis of our team for the next 5-10 seasons already sorted, by the time they hit mid 20's most will have played nearly 200 premiership games!that is great forward planning by the club...
I85

I agree mate, but the problem will be keeping them all.

MUSHROOM

I agree with you but, I just feel that a few of the players you have mentioned lack the natural ability and quality to be world class. e.g Henderson and Allen

Liverpool Fc is not a school for someone to come down and learn their basics and move on...
whate we need is result and performance on the salary we pay...Its simple....

eds, other than forwards, do u think we will buy a left back too? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps. It is not the priority right now though.}

10 Dec 2012 13:43:19
Henderson and Allen are both engine room players. Incredibly important, but very un-appreciated.
Both are younger versions of Barry, Makelele Carrick, Fletcher, Arteta, Xavi etc. None of these players do anything fancy, but they just get in the right positions, and keep the play ticking.
You will all scream that Hendo is nowhere near as good as Makelele, Barry and Fletcher, and that Allen is miles off Xavi, Carrick, Arteta...
Thats because they are 22 years old! Give them a chance to learn and perfect the trade, and you'll all be surprised. Who had even heard of Xavi 10 years ago? It was all about Viera and Zidane!

YNWA! (Adam)

Hey eds quick question, I just heard from a source that we are interested in bring Michu to the club for a fee of £10-£12 million. I no laudrup has said that it would cost £30 million to take him from Swansea but seen as they only paid £2 million for him it would be a good bit of business on there behalf!
So what do u rekon the chances are of us bidding for him?? And plus is it true that we have no cash for transfers?
Any Info would be great eds and other followers plop ease have an input!! {Ed002's Note - I would doubt that Michu will be joining in January. I have explained on many occasions about the support the owners will likely give to the transfer process.}

Wow, a player can now transfer twice in the same season in the same league? That's almost as cool as being able to loan out an under 18 player. {Ed002's Note - Michu has only played for Swansea this season, so he can move in January. Not that I am saying he will.}

Was your source the newspapers? Also I really really don't see us buying anyone from Swansea anytime soon.

After watching yesterday's game it is clear that we cannot expect anything from referees. For that reason I think when our players are in the box there is no need to go to ground, but instead keep going for goal. Most of the time players go down they are looking for penalty, which is clearly not going to happen for us. I bet on a few occasions a player will actually get a decent goal scoring attempt. I have counted 6 definite penalties that we did not receive this season. Most involve Suarez, and clearly he has been marked as a diver. Shelvey not receiving penalty yesterday is a joke. I think the officiating needs to be held accountable. It is becoming ridiculous. No penalties in 16 games???

Well really Shelvey did not have a choice

His legs were taken from beneath him

I agree. The only surprise to me was the ref did not disallow our 3rd goal, on the grounds that Collins was offside!

Great result yesterday. Looked good until Enrique went off and they looked good until Diame went off. Only thing BR got wrong was putting Cole on for Enrique. Cole was average but did score a good goal but Carragher should of come on. Skrtel,Agger or Carragher should of gone left back. West Ham were very physical and Carragher would of suited this sort of game. Over all , good win and looking like we will challenge for fourth which is better than we thought. Keep believing.

EST.1892

That is exactly why BR is the manager not you.

Jman

Obviously Brendan has been told to play Cole, Hendo, and Downing so that hopefully they will have a few decent games to gain interest from other clubs before the January window opens. Cole and Hendo both have had a couple of good games and we should recieve some interest in them. Downing looks as awful as ever but that is what Liverpool are trying to do regarding these players.

Red Lee

Did we not win the game? Surely all decisions by BR were justified?

Red Lee, do u think with everything at stake, BR would be putting up players for auction in a critical game which most possibly could have turned our season with back to back league victories? and pls lay off of hendo. he's a young lad but sure is classy. let him be and judge him in 2-3 yrs

KrishnaYNWA

Hey you better catch up, football has progressed a lot since 1892.

Plz can some one tell me what kind of midfield Allen is he is not attacking midfield or DM neither is play maker or box to box player. Especially when we are playing 3 midfield he makes us look like we are playing two midfield and that makes things difficult for our captain. Time has come Henderson should get his chance in center and will add more energy in our midfield.

I'll bet you were one of those plonkers who screamed abuse at Hendo last season! Go away, plank!
Singred

Ed can give you a better reply...he is fan of allen...
seems we are watching a different allen tha him...

To the second reply...means we allen will come good next christmass??

10 Dec 2012 13:51:41
Singred your one of the worst poster in this site you never post constructive posts but criticise others. Anyway players should urn their number and Allen needs rest or should be dropped coz of his current form and hendo should be getting his chance. Oh even sterling needs break and assaidi should get his chance in league I'm sure won't do anyworse.

I supported Hendo last season, just as I support Allen, who is still new to the club. I support the players and managers of LFC. The club is on a learning curve with Rodgers and it's up to us as fans and supporters to give our full support.

In the few matches that I watched Allen has played, he has done ok - no more worse than Shelvey or Sahin, or Stevie. Stevie has been in poor form lately, but I don't condemn or hurl abuse at him, nor any other players, unlike some of the trolls on these pages. The lads are coming to terms with Rodgers playing style, and I'm confident we'll see results coming soon. Already the character that the players showed in fighting back has given us confidence that things will be better.

Singred

Allen is better than sahin..
thats just coz..sahin had been awful..not coz allen has been excellent...

'Singred your one of the worst poster in this site you never post constructive posts but criticise others' -
To this nameless poster - go to the search engine and search for my posts under 'Singred'. I really despise the trolls who come on here slamming Rodgers, the players and the club. You can't support the club when they lose, what give you bigots the right to support the club when they win?!

Trolls like you only know how to criticise when the going gets tough, like during the first half in yesterday's game - and what was the final result -a 3-2 win! I was elated that the players proved the doubters wrong and all the moaners forced to eat their words - then what do I read? Bigots slamming the players left, right and centre! If you don't call yourself trolls, what are you?

hey guys

i just want to say stevie g has carried us......and has been our most outstanding performer for lfc.
he has been the main reason as to why we have won all those trophies in his era...........
the guy as i said earlier..........has carried the team when at times no-one would step up

so yes he is not at his best these days...for whatever reason i dont know......he seems more shackled and plays simple..and he hasnt played well from what i remember since his goals against newcastle at anfield..not sure if it was a hatrick or not..or maybe 2 goals...but he bombed forward...pace..power..and drive..

sth he hasnt done..

so dont give him stick..the guy in my opinion is immune to abuse because look at what he has done...have you forgotten!!......he doesnt pick the team..........so blame the manager if he doesnt sub a player who doesnt perform

just check what some of you lot say sometimes...short memory morons

red lobster

It's plain for all to see that Stevie G hasn't been the player this season that has blessed us with his magnificence, but we need to remember he's had to adapt in a couple of ways, firstly, a new system of play and secondly, as (in footballers lives) he's in the twilight of his career, he's having to change his game from the lung busting, 60yard bursting box to box all action midfielder to an orthodox centre mid.

He dragged us back into and won the champions league final in Istanbul, and did the same in the FA Cup against West Ham, and though that should not save him from being dropped or substuted from time to time, has earned him his legend status and earned our respect!

El Diablo!

Morning ed2. I know you've speculated in the past as to why the owners have steered clear of Liverpool recently (hostility and such), but I was curious as to whether they may fly over during Jan? Of course their presence is not necessary for transfers to take place but if it's a successful window could they use it for a bit of self promotion - for want of a better word.
Thanks
Puzzled Red {Ed002's Note - I really don't know what they plan to do in terms of visiting Liverpool. There has certainly been a recent visit to London.}

Ed do u no if the reason they went to london was about a deal for sturridge or nothing to do with pool thanks {Ed002's Note - Transfers are not dealt with by the owners. It is not a matter for this forum.}

I'd like to give Brendan a pat on the back. It's been frustrating results-wise at times but lets not forget what we are dealing with. Brendan is one of the very few coaches with a "philosophy" of play. That's why he was hired. It will take a season to get the current squad to fully understand it but if anyone is any doubt check out possession stats this season. We hold the ball and over time this will turn draws into wins and defeats into draws. He's had one window to get in his type of players and get rid of those who won't fit his style. Even old 'Arry needed 4 windows at Spurs to get a squad capable of challenging for top 4. We had a very tough set of fixtures at the beginning when we were most vulnerable and that created pressure in later games as we had so few points on the board. We had a fairly tough Europa group when you consider we were fielding a second XI in most games. We we miles off top 4 a couple of weeks ago and now we're not. With a bit of luck we will go into January within 1 or 2 pts of CL places. Brendan also being clever with players he wants shut of... By playing and talking up players he has increased their value while at the same time resting some of the youngsters. I think there'll be a few out of the door in the summer including a few fans favourites. Reina and Coates out wouldn't surprise me at all and the writing is also on the wall for Downing, Henderson and Enrique. I think he'll need to sell 3 or 4 players like this plus Carroll to get 4 or 5 of his own players in. Would be surprised if any permanent signing is a player over 25 so no Huntelaar or Alonso guys.

PieInTheSkyMan

Why Enrique, Coates and Henderson? Henderson and Enrique playing well at the moment. Coates still young and good cover for CB. We are desperate for forwards/creative midfielders.

Leeds red

Can't see Enrique going anywhere nor Henderson !! Beardley's Boot's

So BR is kinda like Bhudda

He has a philosophy

Bruce Lee had one too it was called the tao of kun do

Whats brendans called

How to pass the ball around and go nowhere

Shabby Sheik

Read Tim Vickery article on Coates and you'll see that he's maybe not a CB for BR. As his reputation is still high it would be possible for BR to replace him with a more mobile young CB and pocket some cash. Downing, Hendo and Enrique will all get game time (they are good players) but there's no denying BR has his doubts about all of them. None playing in their preferred position says it all. Pepe? A return to form shouldn't disguise fact he had gone stale. What does it say about your motivation when you have to lose a stone in weight at a top club? BR won't remodel squad by selling Spearing or Pacheco and releasing Cole and Doni. He will have to sell and needs the stock of those players to be as high as possible in order to do so. My nagging concern is that Carroll will not be sold as there'll be no takers ... Or if he does go it'll be for much less than 17m.

if i was rodgers the first thing i would be doing was to press the botton on diames 3.5 million release clause, what a player hes developing into yes he may be injured but its only a hamstring, he will be back beginning of march and will then get a full pre-season with us.
jaydee ynwa

I think he would be a greet squad player but also i think if Brendon had wanted him he would have already been hear we had the chance of him in the summer for free and the lad was keen but we turned him down so cant see us going for him now.

I think the criticism of kenny is a bit harsh, he didn't negotiate the prices, just said the players he wanted. It made sense downing and Carroll A crosses to B and B knocks it in. How many awful signings did rafa make? At least kenny had the balls to get rid of Torres, how many managers would have done that. Ill judge BR at the end of the season, but kenny gave us two cup finals and suarez! For that I will always be greatful! Not to mention the effort he put into the hillsborough enquiry.

Jay

I think Suarez deal was sorted before Kenny arrived and dont think he got rid of Torres, think he might have preferred to keep him...but apart from that spot on !

You will probably find the people who say the most negative things about King Kenny are ones who are young and dont really remember all he has done for the club over the years. Yes his second coming wasn't how we wanted it to end but I will be grateful to him for more then just a couple cup finals last year!

Regardless of whether he negotiated the transfers, the fakt is that he wasted 75m on useless players. How i wish brendan got that 75m. Kenny absolutely f'ed us over and coming 8th was a blessing in disguise.

In Brendan we trust

I agree Rafa made some dodge singings but made quite a lot of good ones to were as KK made very poor singings. Kenny had no choice but to let Torres go he had a bye out clause and cheski met it simple. Also Suarez was on his way regardless weather KK was there or not it was the board and Camoli that pushed that deal though. KK desperately wanted Andy Carroll.

murton red

If you look at the situation in a whole, we got rid of roy and had no one to turn to. We looked at our legend and he answered our cry for help. He knew we wasn't in a good shape and knew it was gonna be difficult here. I praise and respect him for taking on so much at the time. In reality he knew he wasn't gonna be at LFC for long but i agree he didn't make some good judgments but he is not in charge of transfers, wages, etc and what not. He made a list of who he wanted, the owners said they'll give him what he wants. I am a big fan of Kenny and what he has done for the club, what he did when he played and everything he has done whilst in charge and especially what hes done for the 96. He has given heart and soul to this club and still gets slated for bringing in a couple of players who hasn't preformed.
Trying not to slate rafa here cos im a fan but just before Rafa left we got Aqualani at like £20m and his wages was ridiculous and it took nearly 3 seasons to get rid of him, everytime he went on loan we paid for part of his wages and all the other costs involved with loans. In total costs would nearly take him to Carrols price tag.
And does anyone remember Voronin? i know he came for next to nothing but his wage demands was outrageous.
Come on people. Give Kenny some peace and respect he deserves.

FowlerGod.

Kenny has been great for liverpool in so many ways, Hillsborough, his playing and managerial success, winning trophys, but if you judge him on signings alone, for the money he spent he was awful. I dont like people trying to justify his transfer activity with previous achievement, it just doesnt make sense.

K-Man

Thats ridiculous...how on earth is carrol and downing signing defended.? 55 mill?
player A crosses to B and B knock in??
he got 38 + games...a whole season. how many times player A crossed and player B knocked in? 5 times?
It wasnt KK who got rid of torres, torres wanted out, coz he did not see any progree in the club...simple...
Rafa had some awful signings...But he had some memmorable signings which we still want abck...alonso..

YNWA

To nameless poster - we are currently below were we finished under dalglish, we are also out of the league cup.

I want BR to suceed, however it is hard to say that his signings have made a huge impact so far Allen, Borini, Sahin and Assaidi (who Rodgers doesnt seem to rate as he is overlooked).
Slating Dalglish shows how much of a suporter of the club you are

Its beginning to sound like Conservative Party Rhetoric...'look what Labour left us with' etc etc.....

King Kenny was, is and always will be King Kenny. His worth to the club was and is much more than the combined totals of his managerial tenures. Yes, he made mistakes, but show me a Manager who hasn't.

So, please, let's put the 'he wasted x millions on him' and concentrate on the future with BR...and let's wallow in the warmth of the unconditional love and service that King Kenny gave to our club....he, above all, deserves it.

Well said Marshy,im sick of all the past manager bashing

Realism

Celtic players are staying put, why would they leave now.
Sturridge is going to want fortunes, does he warrant it.., no, are FSG willing to be held to ransom.
Walcott won't move north unless the mancs come in.
Bent, yeah what a model pro he's showing himself to be.
January.., its really hard to find bargains, and anyone decent is going to cost over the odds...
Personally think Spain is where finances are hitting hardest so bargains possible.
Our Club is being run well and we won't be held to ransom, the kids are all developing and we are still in with a shout of Europe.
Can't remember when we were outplayed...
Your will all start asking about your FIFA Xbox players..
Not this January
Pistol Pete

We were outplayed yesterday mate.

Kopping a feel

Outplayed
They pressurised, sent early balls into the box which we dealt with.
Last 15 was all us. Great heart, boys put themselves on the line and came out with a great 3 points. Showed are side of us that I didn't think we had.

10 Dec 2012 10:04:29
We only won last night because Diame from WestHam yore his hamstring. He was brilliant last night. He bossed the midfield. Man handled Allen and Lucas. Never gave them a seconds rest. He forced mistakes out of them after our 20min fisrt half spell. Allen wasnt great last night. Gerrard isnt having a great season. Lucas has just come bk from injury. Sahin is still adapting and is injured at the mo. Our midfield is very dire at the minute. Henderson in the last 2 games has been a spark and shelvey is much better in the middle of the park too. But we beed an eriksen or somebody like that to unlock defences. I feel we were lucky to come away with all 3 points yesterday. WestHam threw the kitchen sink at us at the end and will feel hard done by ti come away with nothing. But despite everything we are still only 4 points off 4th. Just shows how tight the league is at the minute. A midfielder and a top striker to partner Suarez(all hail) would be my priority this January. What does everyone else think?

Thanks

Kam

Your negativity is not welcome IMO! Both of WH's goals were down to luck. The boys fought hard and did well to come back to win it! Try supporting LFC instead of constant criticism ... just for a change!

LFC_SA

To be fair mate it was an away game at a Big Sam west ham who had just beaten Chelsea, you make it sound like we should be able to turn up and give em the 5-0 steamroll. Performance was pretty damn good all things considered and Allen didn't have a poor game, you just notice his mistakes more cos its Allen.

Did you come on here and say the same about us when we out played tes and lost of against Everton when we blatently won.. You didn't mention the fact we should of had a blatent penalty not to mention there penalty stop moaning about 3 points. Go on about Diame we had no suarez

Agree with you there Kam. He was a pain in the ass against us at wigan as well, was very happy for him to leave the pitch.

How many times do Man U get outplayed only to end up picking up all 3 points, with all the pundits and plaudits stating that 'a sign of a great side is winning when not playing well?'

I for one will happily take a few away games where we scrape a win and would rather the focus be on a performance that showed determination and guts and leaves us in an excellent position to push for top 4 through December.

Let's all get together and give a collective show of support to the boards, manager and players to try to help inspire them onto greater achievements.

Seasons greetings to you all.

I think it is blatantly obvious that sterling needs a bit of a rest,or a reality check.His devastating form at the start of the season is slowly leaving him,looks good when running at the defence, but gives the ball away too often and never tries to get it back,running along side a player without putting in a tackle is next to useless. i would say an extended xmas leave would do him and the club good. just a thought
jaycee

Sterling won the ball back 8 times in yesterdays match, more than any other player on the pitch

K-Man

Sorry but thought he done well didn't u see the way he was involved in setting the second goal up

He tracked back a bit a few times last night, his end product is the only thing needs work in my opinion. His shots aren't usually on target and his final pass is hit and miss. Other than that I see him as a hard working and valuable team member.

Nevada

Sterling won 8 times back? means he lost the ball 7 times?..he with allen were awful...

I dont disagree that Sterling could do with a rest however I wonder whether his decrease in attacking prowess is due to his much improved defensive game?

i thoughtr glenn johnson yesterday was brilliant for the first 25 minutes attacking wise, it has always baffled me as to why we have never played him as a winger, even to test him out there, goes past people with ease, has a good shot,cross and can get back quickly with his pace, id love to see him play there when kelly is fit again or even put wisdom at rb. what does everyone else think?would probably be just a stop gap until we bought a recognised rw but surely worth a chance?!
I85

I think when Kelly is back BR should try Glen on right and Kelly at the back. Always wanted to see it and it would make it hard for players on the left side imo. Especially for the over rated players like bale. All that guy has, is that he is really fast.

FowlerGod.

Funny that our best out-and-out wingers are our full backs

Enrique left mid, johnson right mid, kelly rb and robinson lb, i think that is very strong defensively and alos going forward, lots of pace and ability.
I85

When this system works at its best, we need the full backs getting around the back and that is where Johnson is outstanding and Enrique has been much improved. I would be leaving them where they are and working on getting another wide forward.

Speaking to someone close to Ian Ayre.

The Club aims to bring in 3/4 new players in January.

Sturridge will come and very quickly into the January transfer window. The Owners understand they need to splash some money on getting the team competing.

Cover for Left back with Crystal Palce player Jonathan Parr looking the most likely.

The owners will then wait to get the other two deals as cheap as possible.

Theo Walcott I know for a 100% will NOT sign another contract at Arsenal. We will wait until very late on perhaps last minute to get him for as cheap as possible.

Fernando Llorente will be the same story he doesnt want to stay with Athletico Bilbao and we will use his Contract to get him as low as possible.

No real outgoings

Flanagan will join Palace on loan as part of the Parr deal and Adam Morgan will join Cardiff until the end of the season

I don't know if i agree to a few but i would like to see Morgan and flanno to both get some game time and I think cardiff would be a good team to go to for them. I rate both quite highly but i can not see it really happening unfortunately.

FowlerGod.

Strikers are like buses, you wait half a season for one then three come at once. Lol

MIKEY

Why Morgan to Cardiff?

If this is right I will be so happy

I wouldn't put my hopes too high on 3/4 new players in Jan. Everything hinges on how we are performing till then; will be thankful even if they just bring in one forward.

Singred

Not a chance we will get Llorente, not when the likes of Barcelona, Juventus & Man City are interested.

Yesterday was Allen worst performance by far. You cant fault him for the pen, i thought that was a disgraceful decision. Its a very negative midfield when we have Allen & Lucas playing together. Its about time he gives Hendo a good run in the middle he deserves it. He has a good work ethic and u can see in him that he really wants to do well at LFC and gives it his all

Barry B

Henderson is quality player i think he lacks confidence thats all..I think he can make it at Liverpool.

Personally i think Hendo wouldn't do a better job in that holding role. He is more of an attacking minded player then defending. I'd give him more of a chance going forward but can't see him replacing Gerrard really but then again i'd rather see Shelvey going forward then Hendo. He has been quite slow at reading games and has divered about a bit when he has the ball looking for passes etc and then gets in a flap then losses it but you can slate his passion when he does play.

FowlerGod.

I still am worried y did we payed 18 mill for allen?
i mean u have an excuse he was played out of position in almost 20 games this season including the europa..
for a quality player 20 games is enough to adapt to his new position right??
if glen johnson can adapt to LB, and daniel agger can play as a LB wen needed..and if suare can play as an attacking winger..and if shlevey can play as a striker..
whats splecail about allen?
was he told to play a CB or Striker..
we just wasted the money on him..
BR lost Gylfi, and so he wanted allen..simple..
he had the best pass ratio, best this ratio, best conversion ratio,..common where are those?

YNWA {Ed001's Note - funny that, but Xavi is the best central midfielder in the world, he couldn't play as a defensive midfielder, does that mean he is not good enough? This is just idiotic.}

The money just keeps going up with you personic fans. First it was 15 million, then he had a "bad game" so he was 16 million. Now he had another "bad game" and it's 18 million?

BthekingB

Ed001, I agree with your point, but Xavi and Allen are not comparable at this point. Xavi dictates play. Allen simply recycles laterally or backwards. And to play devils advocate, Xavi could play anywhere {Ed001's Note - Xavi can't play anywhere, he has even said that himself. I wasn't comparing Allen to Xavi, just pointing out that not every player can play anywhere equally as well, it doesn't mean they aren't excellent in their correct position.}

Wow what an idiotic post above. Your the same type that prob slated Lucus now look at him.

Allen started off brilliant this season so i think he's just going through a bad run of form at the moment. He should try and rest him for the next game along with Gerrard and play a midfield of Lucas, Hendo & Shelvey. Allen is very good technically, most of his work is defensive rather than offensive so thats why people dont really appreciate the work he does for the team

The problem with Liverpool is that every CM we buy is going to be compared to Gerrard, and in reality there will possibly never be another player like him

Barry B

Lucas was kept whole season becoz he cost us a mere 5 mill compared to allen 15 mill plus 3 mill signing on fee..whihc makes 18 mill product...
i am not aware what xavi said...but here we compared the pass completion, tackle completion so many ratios of allent with xavi earlier when we bought him...

ED..if given a chance..Xavi will fill that role atleast in 15 games...right?...
Its plain and simple..we wasted 10 mill on allen...he no where near worth 15+3 mill...which we paid... {Ed001's Note - no he wouldn't, because his strengths would not be used in that role, it would play to all his weaknesses, just like Allen. You are asking Allen to fill a role that plays to none of his strengths, then moaning when he isn't able to play it well.}

Liverpool Consider £10m Move to Capture Swansea City Forward Michu. just an enquiry ? {Ed002's Note - Just speculation.}

10 Dec 2012 08:44:43
We were brilliant for the first 20 mins then somehow we end up at half time 2-1 down! I just didnt see that coming. Just as i didnt see us getting the 2 goals in the second half. We were hardly playing that well, yet we end up with a victory. Thats what the top teams do, grind out results. Credit where its due, great result and on Thursday too. Well done Brendan.

The Irish Rover

Its about time we won a game that we didnt play well in. We have sounded like a broken record the last few weeks saying we played well but didnt get the result we deserved. 3 wins out of 3 and 2 home games to come.

Eds... They way Jo Cole spoke post match yesterday was in the club being "they" and "them" not us. Suggesting to me he's all ready gone. Not a case of match of the day fever but he is improving. He did get a vital goal etc.
I guess I'm just scared we are going to let him go for nothing when there is still some decent yards in him.

I don't know the wages situation but remember recently everyone wanted Johnson gone?

10 Dec 2012 08:35:54
Im sure this has already been suggested, but could the Eds take the executive decision to stop posting any comments that are not signed off?....simply delete them during the moderation process?

Surely any genuine fan will be happy to defend their opinion, whether it is good or bad?

Just a thought and welcome any discussion.....because thats what this site is all about!....ps great site Eds and Reds who contribute.

Mike in leeds - but on the wirral with family for the weekend!

Wouldn't work without a signing in process. People could still use a different name every time or just use someone elses. Hard to believe we're all on the same side sometimes.

Len

Ps. I have found some of the best (most entertaining anyway) posts on here are anonymous.

10 Dec 2012 12:11:46
Don't think the mods could delete posts without first prior warning that that is what they would do. As said in reply, some unsigned posts are good, but then why not get the credit for them and sign?
Personally I like to see signatures, as that way you can respond to that post, especially if their are lots of anonymous ones in one conversation.
I've been a mod and main admin on forums in the past and you had to sign in each time, as that was what the application required.
At the end of the day, the Eds on this site do a brilliant job and think we should just leave the job of working out what gets posted to them, even if the odd one does annoy! The posts Eds not you lot!

Keith {Ed002's Note - Posts get deleted for all sorts of reasons, but not being signed is not one of them. Other sites see the majority of posters signing the posts and it does support the building of relationships.}

I understand the argument but I respectfully disagree. Some of the personalized attacks get ridiculous, plus as an online forum I thought freedom of speech should be encouraged. If someone feels more comfortable posting anonymously then so be it.

P.S. calls for entitlement by signing posts is the reason why I stopped signing my posts, I say let people have choice and the Eds can ban abusive posters based on IP addresses. {Ed001's Note - I say people should sign them so you can hold a proper conversation, it is impossible to tell if you are getting replies off multiple people or one person otherwise.}

Great result yesterday, credit to Rodgers and the players, I've given them stick so I must give them credit when they do get results.
The next 4 games will tell me a lot about how much we have progressed as a team. 10 points will be a good sign.

Credit to Henderson, making great progress, keep him he's going to be important.
Despite the result, I still think Downing and Cole need to be looking for new clubs.

Norwich (2-5)
Reading (1-0)
Anzhi (1-0)
Wigan (3-0)
Udinese (0-1)
Southampton (1-0)
West Ham (2-3)

All the EPL and Europa wins of the season so far, Suarez has scored in only 2 of those matches and in those same matches he wasn't the only one to score. I'm not slagging off anyone or anything but I believe just because he's rescuing draws for us people seem to forget that we aren't necessarily a one man team. I believe with proper striking support we'll turn those draws (City, Chelsea, Newcastle & Sunderland) into wins. Things should only get better. Food for thought

Made up with the result today, great character from the lads

Tell this to disney n the other clueless mancs who think we r a one man team.

The key point here for me is that when the rest of the team pitch in with goals to help Suarez we win game, this hasn't happened enough this season, however things are looking up and Jan is to far away to get a few goal scorers in.

I supose my point is we do ok this season when Suarez has more support

K-Man

Should have got 3 points v united too, battered them but then fergie pulled his referee strings.

I don't mind if people do want to say that, really its both a compliment to us and an insult to them if they really feel that one man can beat an opposing team of 11 because he's so unbelievably good.

Heya Eds, How are you? I hope all is well. :) With the ever improving performances of Joe Cole and Stewart Downing, how likely do you think it is that they might be moved on? Do you know if any players will be moved on in January? {Ed002's Note - One or two may go - but much will depend if clubs are interested in buying.}

Improving, yes. Still liability though. Both need to go, for the club and also to refresh their careers

Out of the last 6 Premiership games here are the results:

@ Chelsea 1-1
Wigan 3-0
@Swansea 0-0
@ Spurs 1-2
Southhampton 1-0
@West Ham 3-2

So in those 6 games, we've won both home games. In the four road games we have a win, 2 draws and a loss. A draw at Chelsea is not a bad result. The game against Spurs we deserved much better. The team is playing well. Rodger's system is starting to take root and produce results. Add some talent and Liverpool will have something.

Just want to say, well done to the whole team. Happy for Joe Cole, honestly I was really bugged when he came on for Enrique but he proved me wrong. Also Skrtel, Agger, G. Johnson have been great game after game, our unsung heros, I'm really glad they're with us!! Lastly Shelvey's goal celebration is priceless I'm hoping to see it more this season!
