kenny for England Manager

Fergie for England Manager

Fergie for mcdondalds manager

Kenny would never take the job and neither would wiskey nose. Both are very important to their club.
Love Redknap to quit Spurs and go for it, I don't even like England anymore.

Hey Eds and fellow reds!
don't know if any of you remember me but i went away for a bit due to health reasons and i'm pleased to say i'm back in full working order. Everything went to plan and now i'm back in time to tune in for the game tomorrow (couldn't of been timed any better)!
Now let's bring on tomorrow and cheer on the reds! Granted Suarez will get plenty of abuse but that'll add to the grit and determination we need to pull of another top result against them. Alos looking forward to the next two cup games. Things are on the up for us even if we've had a few disappointing results. Oh and please stop pestering the Eds on summer transfer targets already!
It's good to be back and a massive thanks to the Eds and those who left me best wishes messages. You're all doing a fantastic job!
Dale B

Welcome back Dale mate.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Welcome back, hope you are all right mate! Let's go and destroy those mancs now!

Thanks Blair! And cheers for the message before i went too!

I honestly think Liverpool need:
1. An AM like Gaston Ramirez or Eriksen
2. Someone very versatile like Isla or maybe Vertonghen.
3. A RW a la Muniain/Griezmann
4. A 12Mish striker like Luuk De Jong.
5. And to secure the deal for Marco Bueno, he looks good.

Seems realistic (except for Eriksen). With some players going out it won't be too pricey. Any thoughts?

I expect Ramirez, Isla and De jong as replacements for Maxi, Johnson and Kuyt respectively. But Right Wing is the most important and needed one and i think we will go for a big money move. Not sure who though, but Munain or Marin would be awesome. We will also get rid of players like Cole, Aquilani, Pacheco, Aurelio and some youngsters which should free up some salary room to make that signing though its not a direct replacement for someone we already have since we have no player like that and we desperately need someone for that position. Then hopefully keeping others we will be a very good title challenging squad, let alone top 4.

AJ

There is no point expecting anyone as there's a 98% chance u will be wrong.

Would be happy with draw ,we are not going that well but last few games can see real progress so i think a win is realistic but draw not end of the world and with newcastle, chelsea and gooners all away from home as well later in day give the eds a break till all results in cause its going all the way too may so no point in sunny day fans moanin at half 2 tomorrow cause we might only have got 1 point red2toe

5 points from a possible 15 is pretty poor we need the points more than utd 2morow....

One game at time.

Does anyone else think we should have kept a few players in the summer and not sell that many? Our squad is still very weak, with 1 or 2 injuries we have to put 3 defenders on the bench...

Aquilani, Meireles, Cole, Ngog all could add something to our squad right now...

AA, RM and JC all play in the hole, and I feel we are missing one or two players who can do that for us... We shouldnt have signed Adam, but just play Gerrard there in CM, with AA/RM/JC in front behind Suarez.

Ngog also because we need a bit of pace upfront, someone who will run in behind... He is like Torres. Think him and Suarez could have made a good partnership, or Ngog and Bellamy.

Thoughts?

Aquilani wanted to leave, cole wanted to leave and so did meireles....hents why they left! Kenny only wants players to want to play for us. As for Ngog don't get me started.

Thoughts?.......I think you have only just started watching PL football or you are on a wind-up. Out of a whole season with those four players, I could count the amount of decent games any of them played on two hands. Joe Cole, in particular, was appallingly bad for us despite his recent form in France. I felt a bit sorry for Ngog as he had an ok scoring record at Liverpool but he wasn't LFC standard (and he certainly didn't have much pace).
Now, if you had mentioned the dynamic and influential Christian Poulsen, I might have taken you more seriously ;)

cozinoz

I disagree with so much, I wouldn't know where to start. Nick.

Move on! Support the club. Players are just cogs in the wheel.

Ngog was dreadful mate. He can't score and has no body strength what so ever.

"Aquilani, Meireles, Cole, Ngog all could add something to our squad right now..." Yes - mediocrity. RED LENIN {Ed001's Note - now, now mate, you really need to stop overrating players!! ;o)}

Better control then carroll though and better technique, but saying that who hasnt? RedTurk

You haven't, redturk, the lack of control on the negative bullsh*t that contantly spews from you is obvious

cozinoz

Meireles was never that good for us. Granted scored a few goals nut Pulled out of loads of Tackles and never busted a gut to get back and defend. We did very well to Get our money back on him!!

do any of the eds know who the ref is tomorrow? need a good one. referees give everything at old trafford. guaranteed to be a penalty for them, but hey I say 3-1 to the pool! come on the reds. cheers

Danny {Ed001's Note - it was named as Phil Dowd.}

Cheers ed

Phil Dowds not too bad, prefer him over Fergies gimp Howard Webb

Ahoy - Sir Alex and friends.

Unfortunately for the Worlds Most in Debt Football Club tomorrow - Former Sports Personality of the Year and shining example on and off field plus perfectly behaving all round good guy - Ryan Giggs will not be able to play.

Craig Bellamy is nailed on to start and the High Court Case and injunction states that Ryan is not allowed within 500 yards of a Welsh starlet with perfectly white teeth who goes down very easily.

Picture the scene, Liverpool beat Man Utd tomorrow. Ferguson is interviewed afterwards. What's his response this time (with odds)?

6/4 "Ref a disgrace."

2/1 "Linesman a disgrace."

9/4 "I can't believe we didn't get a penalty(s)"

7/2 "I can't believe the ref gave them a penalty. No chance. Not in a million years, despite Scholes decapitating him. Never."

4/1 "Liverpool player (enter name) should have been sent off for handball, tackle, nasty word, breathing or whatever I told the ref it should be."

4/1 "Liverpool players should have been sent off. They should have had no more than four on the pitch at the end."

9/2 "Suarez scored? I thought I got him banned for the game."

11/2 "Can't believe our luck, we were far superior as we always are in every game we have ever played."

6/1 "Dalglish should have been sent off."

10/1 "I'm appealing to the FA. Liverpool's white kit clashed with our Red."

Infinity to 1 "Well done Liverpool, they were by far superior to us and I think they can mount their perch again"

Any others?

Lol red nose is always full of excuses. if i had a penny for every excuse...

He had a relapse of gout in his nose and had to go home sick at half time. Nick.

Relapse of gout lol...

gee man

Ill go for C. I can't believe we didn't get a penalty. Final Answer.

Ed just checked the players seen page and there is a flashing link sayining I've won a competition. Follow it through and you can win an I-phone. It asks you to enter you number at which point I stopped, this really leggite on your site??
RNred {Ed001's Note - it is an advert, if it isn't legit, send me the details and I will not just have it removed but also refer the details to the police and see that the ad agency which provides the ads remove them from their inventory.}

Ed01 - great response. This is why i love this site: Its about people wanting to chat, banter and discuss football - not some frustrating rip off trying to squeeze cash out of us.

Not a football point, just wanted to thank the eds again. Good work all - great site.

Ed I'm a little confused with the deal in a certain clause in Johnson's contract, about him having to play when fit. Could you explain this to me and why this could possibly of happened, if it did it's madness!

Thanks mate, awesome site keep up the good work.

maka
YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - I don't understand it fully myself, I am only saying what I am told, but, as it was explained to me, Rafa had to do something to persuade him to join the club as he wasn't keen on a move north. He was offered big money, but his main issue was his England place, so his agent negotiated a 'must play when fit clause' for league matches, in order to give him the best chance of keeping his England place. It is not uncommon for top players to have such clauses in their contracts, usually only flair players though.}

Well if he doesnt really wanna be here he can f**k off

i always sell him on fifa anyway and play with kelly/richards/van der wiel

If that's true then it's ridiculous how Rafa could of let that happen, he is not even our best right back! I would have Kelly starting in ahead of him any day.

maka
YNWA JFT96

Don't Understand? If there on the pitch and they have red shirt on and are giving 110% just support them? Simply Really. What's there to understand?

Maka - players and their agents dictate the terms. Clubs either agree or do without. RED LENIN {Ed001's Note - and, to be fair to Rafa, at the time we were desperate for a right back, Kelly never played there until after Johnson joined.}

''Sir Alex x'' for this clown here who has won more champions league's ( european cups) who has one more uefa cups, who has won more fa cups, who has won more league cups and finally we dont have to get a 37 year old to come out of retirement to save our crisis. i didn't want too be too ignorant, but i have a feeling we might not win 2morrow

We have won more CL's true, UEFA cup's true, League cups true but FA cups false.

anybody noticed that all the players for liverpool that have done somethings wrong get slagged off but they never appreciate what they have contributed. we still have 14 games left of the season and i dont think any team in the league will be consistent for 14 games straight.

10 Feb 2012 18:56:54
I'm thinking of appealing to the OXFORD to add ''GERRARD'' into their dictionaries as a synonymy to LEGEND. Nothing better than watching STEVEG score against Man Utd.
Long live the king....YNWA

Watching scholes make him look average in the midfield is a look better to watch. Djay

Watching Scholes make him look average is a bit like the Loch Ness Monster - lots of Manu fans swear it happens about it but the evidence has never there

A quick post about Andy Carroll, i'd like to start by saying i think very highly of the young lad and i believe he'll be a great striker for England for years to come if he's brought on right.

I'd always thought the problem with Carroll for Liverpool was that he just didn't fit our system, and he was adapting. Over the past couple of games though, his performances have improved drastically. Now if we look at his assists against bolton and man utd, they were both flick ons to a player running through on goal. He needs this pace to work alongside, his lack of any kind of threat in that department just leads to defences playing a high line against him and keeping him away from where he's effective without any threat to their own goal due to the lack of pace.

With Bellamy alongside him though defences can't do this and Carroll has a lot more success. Luis Suarez on the otherhand, does his best work with a poacher sitting on the shoulder of a deep defensive line (Klaas Jan Huntelaar at Ajax), with Suarez running at the defence.

My point then (Eds), is if this is correct and the players don't learn to work together (or adapt their games accordingly) what do you think will become of Carrol (or even Suarez)?

Also, to my mind Roberto Soldano of Valencia is the closest to the "Huntelaar" mold i was talking about that we've been linked to, do you think we've missed the boat on signing him or is a deal possible/likely in the summer?

Good post

hi guys great website. tomorrow is a huge game because we need points. we got a great record this season against the top teams. hopefully we get something out of tomorrows game. i just want to ask u guys if kenny should put Johnson in midfield and Kelly behind?. because kenny doesn't seem to do it and it would look good attacking wise. what do u guys think?. thanks and ynwa

10 Feb 2012 17:51:51
Just out I interest would anyone hypothetically take a point before the game tomorrow? I wouldn't.

Square tomato

I know one person who said he would be happy with a draw tomorrow so i challenged him to a duel...He will be sorely missed

MJ

Me neither. 3 points or bust. I really do think that if we don't get the win, something really unlucky will have happened. We've got the better team, but they are so F-ing lucky. Fingers crossed the ref doesn't ruin it, but Dowd is usually pretty good. Nick

Nope. We have a very good chance of getting 3 points tomorrow mate!

AG

I like the optimism.

Square tomato

In a wierd way I think we've got more cahnce of three points if we try and play for a win... (I think Kenny will do this)

If we tried for a draw from the start then I think Utd. would probably run away with it. They'll have Rooney back for sure and for 90mins they'll create something...

Attack (but not gung ho)... best form of defense!

I wouldn't be happy with a point, but I'm sure Fergie would

I did have a laugh at the pussy at Anfield last Monday, but having said that, Andy Carroll always makes me laugh.

Congratulations on consolidating your 7th Premier League Place with yet another home draw. Anfield, what a fortress! Look out for Sunderland, 8th place is beckoning before long.

Now, tomorrow afternoon, trust me, you will not want to watch your team being dismantled by the defending, and record 19 times English League Champions, so I suggest the following options to keep you occupied:

1 Dust and oil your Great Grandad's Betamax recorder and watch really old Liverpool tapes so you can reminisce about the good old days. You know, when, once upon a time, many, many, many years ago, in a land far far way from football reality, a fable is told of Liverpool having a top team.
2 Go to the cinema and watch a film (a Disney cartoon so it's not too cerebral...Goofy perhaps, not Shrek!)
3 Go to bed at 12.45pm, shut your curtains, pull the covers over your head, and don't turn on your telly or radio. Stay there and don't move until Monday morning.
4 Read a book (ha ha ha ha) sorry, I had to put in something daft!

And remember: Always look on the bright side of life, de do, de do de do de do!

Sir Alex x

Lets just wait till tomorrow Alex im not calling you sir as you have no class, yet i find your random attempts at humour amusing at times but that's only because your Very Very Special (NEEDS)

Anyone else looking forward to watching De Gea tomorrow shivering inbetween the posts like a Rabid Meercat

You mean terrified between the goalposts like he was at anfield when agger and carroll stood by him - put him in the back of the net early - that will be him finished

Meercat with a beard. i think hes trying to look like mufasa but actually acts like timone.(LION KING)

Luis Suarez will be left out of tomorrows squad.

Sir

Nah he is a man not a mouse like Shrek

Dalglish said he would shake evras hand, so he must play some part in the game

10 Feb 2012 16:52:34
I think the game tomorrow will come down to the midfield. We have to be really strong and shut Man U passing game down - so its going to take lots of running.

So, I reckon Spearing, Henderson, Kuyt, Gerrard, Downing. Enrique and Johnson (Man U have pacey wingers, so Kelly may be risk) - with the best CB's in the league holding the centre; Agger and Skrtel. With Carrol and Suarez at top.

It will be a very very tough afternoon, for obvious reasons and I would understand if Man U sneak it. Which, bearing in mind our run in would not be a major. We have got heaps of points to go for.

But. But. But.

Something tells me we may just have the right kind of spirit to get us through at the moment. Get them rattled, keep the ball well, and get away with a cheeky 1-0. Agger with header from a corner..

YNWA

Drew

Hopefully mate, I disagree with your Kelly comment, the lad may be big, but he does have pace. IMO Enrique has to play to stop Valencia, I'd like Kelly on the right to stop Young, but if its Giggs I'd be very happy to play Johnson. Suarez and Carroll upfront for me, seeing as Bellamy normally can't start 2 games in a row, I expect Downing to be on the left and Henderson on the right. 4-3-3 for me.

Reina
Kelly - Skrtel - Agger - Enrique
Henderson - Spearing - Adam
Suarez - Carroll - Downing

RenegadeRed

So, you want Reina; Johnson Agger Skrtel Enrique; Kuyt Henderson Gerrard Spearing Downing; Suarez Carroll?

Get your fingers out mate and count lol.

I think it will be a 5 man midfield definately. The object of the game will be to contain United and not let them score - if they score they are hard work to pull back so stoppimg them is paramount.

3CD Kelly, Skartel, Agger. 2wing Jhonson & Enrique. 2DM Spearing & Adam. 2AM Gerrard & Bellamy. Suarez alone Striker

Is Enrique fit to play? He could be vital against whoever they put on the right (not really clued with Manu players - is Lou Macari still playing?)

Okay guys, just for fun here don't slaughter me.

Martin Kelly > New Carragher
Seb Coates > New Hyypia
Dan Wilson > New Agger

Henderson > New Kuyt
Shelvey > New Gerrard
Lucas > New Mascherano
Adam > New Alonso
Pacheco > New Luis Garcia

Carroll > New Crouch
Suarez > New Torres

Anyone else feel the same?

Wheres my sword lol
k-h

Disagree with:

Henderson: He will be far better than Kuyt, his work-rate may be similar, but he will be different, the lad has a bright future.
Carroll: He is going to be far better than Crouch mate. I expect him to start knocking them in soon.
Suarez: Going to be his own type of player. Torres was one those guys who could do everything correct. Now, it brings me joy to see he can't do anything like that.

RenegadeRed

Well, thanks for making me smile!

I'll give you this one...
Martin Kelly > New Carragher

But these two made me laugh...
Shelvey > New Gerrard
Adam > New Alonso

Im not saying they are going to be as good, I am just stating the way they play.

Oh come on! Adam is the new alonso? More like the new christian poulsen.

10 Feb 2012 15:35:46
Hi eds, can you please explain the whole work permit deal? Why is it that some players will be able to get them like Coates but you say that some others won't be able to get them? I don't get the deal. Thanks.

BTheKingB {Ed002's Note - The situation with work permits is that a player will be granted one if (a) he has played 75% of games at full international level for two years for a country ranked reasonably high up, or (b) if an exemption is applied for and granted under the "exceptional talent" provisions. For example, if a case is made to the authorities that a young South American is a demonstrable talent and clearly one for the future, it should be reasonably easy to have an exemption granted. If however, a pretty much run of the mill or average player was being bought and it was clear they are not appreciably better than those which could be found locally, or are being bought because they are cheap, then it will be much more difficult to obtain a work permit. The downside of the system in the UK is that the "bigger" English clubs can cherry pick the decent talent available and can obtain exemptions, and the rest of the players are assumed not to be talented enough for an exemption (as Chelsea or Manchester United etc. don't want them) and therefore obtaining the exemption is much tougher. Some players can obtain work permits through their parents or grand parents being English.}

Sweet, I've always wondered this!

Cheers Ed

(b) if an exemption is applied for and granted under the "exceptional talent" provisions. Or if Man Utd want him.

Long way to go mate, just wait 'till you come to Anfield.

Ok Trev, whatever is bothering you in your life needs to be addressed instead of venting it on the Liverpool banter page , calling Kenny Dalglish a t..t. A bit rich coming from a fan of Arsenal , who's manager has made himself a laughing stock in his post match interviews and antics on the sideline on many an occasion. He's still a great manager and i wouldn't be as disrespectful as you , resorting to childish name calling . I have a suspicion you might be a 'budding' 'journalist' who cant understand why a self respecting football man like Dalglish wouldnt want to bow to drooling simpleton media hounds asking stupid questions for the idiots like yourself who buy 'the Sun'.

Something I noticed about Charlie Adam, in quite a few games for Liverpool, I've seen him have a shot
from about 40 yards and completely miss the goal,
with the ball sailing over or wide. Of course, I'm
disappointed to see this happens, but I do admire
young Charlie for having a go, for at least having the
confidence to slap one in there, possibly he does it cos
no one ever lets him take a free kick for some reason? Anyway my point is I wish Andy Carroll would get some confidence to do this, just once or twice in the game, turn the defender and smash one in there at
goal from outside the box. I really have the feeling that firing a cannon ball on goal is one of the strengths of his game, as much as heading in crosses.

Its great to see players having a shot at goal, so what if it misses, the fact that they had the confidence to try, is most important.
Food for thought.

I said the exact same thing to myself during the wolves game when he did that big andy is getting back to his best think hes gna have a stormer tomorrow.

I couldnt agree more!... the goal he scored against city last year was awesome... must say im suprised to see gerrard tend to go for the lay off or through ball instead of just wolloping it these day... gerrards 25 yard belters back in the day were sublime!

I think that Tommy Smith should sell his Championship medals to Michael Owen - he started collecting them last season when he hadn't earned one, and his European medals to Jamie Redknapp who started by collecting Cups he hadn't earned way back in 2001!
DM

In all honesty, I wonder how the current Liverpool players feel when they read about Tommy Smith. They're bound to see him around the ground. I would be embarrassed to look him in the eye, if I was one of them. They should get together, and get something sorted with the club, and all chip in to buy them for the LFC Museum. Fecks sake.
The Real KB

This happened to a former spurs player, the club bought them and then handed them back!

Surely carragher or gerrard could buy the medals. they know what liverpool football club means.

I was thinking that when i read about it the other day. Maybe it will be put to Kenny & co some how, how would we go about it ed?

KNEE JERK {Ed002's Note - I am sure the club are wella ware of the situation.}

That Spurs post is a good shout by the way. Bit of class that.

Please, please - let LFC show the way with this. I saw the documentary about Bobby Moore and how he was treated by West Ham and the FA. I once had a lot of time and respect for WHU - great Club and style of play but it really made me think again.

And I remember thinking, Liverpool FC would never allow that to happen.

Please LFC - show how a truly Great Club acts in situations like this. A new Testimonial, pay him a monthly rental fee for using his medals in a display at the shop or museum for fecks sake.

There a LOT of players who have won a LOT of medals with Liverpool. Does the club have to be them all back (except the ones that Riise has sold)?

Has nobody read the article? He said "I'm not skint, I don't have to do this. But I'm getting old and the money is of more use to me now than the medals.

"It's about me putting my family first. I want to ensure one day I'm able to leave them some money."

He's financialy fine, he just wants the money to pass on to his two children, he is a Liverpool legend and i'll gladly donate (and do) to any LFC hero suffering hardship, Marina Dalglish's cancer charity, Hillborough appeal etc.

Sorry, but i for one won't be donating to his children's inheritence.

We have read the article mate.
The point is some players are paid in a week what Tommy's medals, earned over a career, may sell for.
So, in my eyes, he is worth that.

Im the spurs poster, its not about donating to his children? surely its about keeping the medals with-in the club its self??, god forbid any seller of any medal earned by any club, should not see his medals in the hand's of another teams fan or a buyer from another country?, medals were earnt wearing the teams colours and badge, playing to those that adore and worship! a medal deserves to be in the home where it was won, regardless of the team!

sir billy nick

So what if players are paid a fortune these days. Has nothing to do with him wanting to leave his own grown up kid's a tidy sum of money.
Your off your head if you think the club should subsidize everyone who's ever played for the clubs children.

Whats the point in going after a new centre mid?? What we really need is a right winger and young backup striker. Shelvey looks the goods for the future and performances from downing, adam, henderson have progressed as what im concerned. We need young skillful and talented kids to fill the gaps and make liverpool a club feared by everyone. Whats ur take on it?? Is there money for summer and how much will be spent?

I agree we need a striker who scores a lot of goals aswell as a pacy winger(hoilett) but we need an attacking mid because we lack creativity. um1 who can help suarez create chances for carroll.

Eds, readers and fans,

I read tonight that Tommy Smith is selling his medals soon. He said that it's the right thing to do by his family.

In light of this, I just wondered what you thought of this proposition.

Depending on your Liverpool hits, the amount could be determined. I'm sure anywhere between £5-£10 each could do it, they are looking to raise £120,000. We could buy them, and give them back to him.

You never walk alone we say.

In addition, and I only say this because of recent trials faced by our club. Think about the positive message it would send out if someone were to have some media links. We are a family, perhaps we could do right by it.

Let me know. I'd be happy to contribute some. We are loud fans, collectively, we are the loudest.

D-Day (1892) {Ed005's Note - I don't know why he is selling them, but I assume he needs the money for personal reasons or to give to his family? If so, the right thing to do. Having medals is good, but having the memories and knowing he achieved so much with Liverpool is the important thing.}

According to the article, he says that selling them "is not borne out of financial necessity," but because they've been in the bank, and he figures that other people will get more from the medals, while the money would help his family

Yeah mate I'd put some money in but have no connections I'm afraid...maybe start something on facebook?

You can count on my support too. Great idea, try to get this thing rolling and snowballing.

This is a fantastic idea, I think we need to get this going somehow, maybe we can take it to the lfc site?

I'd be more than willing to help. need to get something sorted. Absolute legend. Once a red always a red and we need to show him he'll never walk alone.

Lets stand up,every man jack for 96mins/whatever at O/t.Its hard balance between gung ho and Sitting back. When we start well(Bar the drubbing we gave them 1-4)We then sit back too much.Adams too slow for our midfield in this one.We need legs, quick concise movement and passing.Having said that, their still suckers to ball over the top,if you use pace on their shoulders,in behind. And to crosses, and set pieces.Full backs and widemen, force theirs back, mark Rooney, and jobs a gud-un lol(That easy-me hopes!!!

Stick AC on evra to win long balls to flick for Suarez or whoever is running on to it

Why would you stick a striker on a defender - surely its the other way around?

Can't wait for game saturday. My biggest worry is that Webb might be the official. We'd have no chance 12 vs 11 at Old Trafford. Still, he did gift two penalties to Man U last weekend that helped us out so I can't entirely hate him

Dowd is the ref not web

chris

Dowd is a decent ref and not one of the puppet masters toyboys. Hes tough at times but at least hes fair and consistent. Hope he has a good game with no controversial decisions. Its a huge crowd at United who can influence lesser people such as Webb

tel 1949

Dowd is the best ref in the prem imo
