10 Jul 2012 22:41:23
The Liverpool signing will be someone not expected and will cost a bit more than people think. Rodgers saying there is not a boatload or money is a bit of a smokescreen as overall he does not, but the owners are willing to do one marquee signing. That signing will be James Rodriguez from Porto for 26 million pounds plus some add-ons. The fact his ownership is currently a little complicated has held it up somewhat. Soon it will be resolved however.

While I think this would be amazing, did he/Porto not just turn down a move to ManU for relatively big money? Not to mention I thought he had just signed a new contract?

You sound like you know what you're talking about but me thinks you're talking smack

Hi just wondering on average how lOng does it take to complete a signing because we could of signed sigison but we just didn't do it quick enough thanks reddy

Others do appear to have a quicker process/methods

On average id guess at 3 seconds. But if your name is, say Jan Venegoor of Hesselink for example, it could be a few seconds longer.

Well its taken me a while but using a complicated calculation i have worked out that the average time in days, based on the last 10,000 transfers worldwide is 7.8.

What a ridiculously pointless question/comment.

CQ

Approximately 12 days 04 hours 05 minutes and 31 seconds.

Thats the summer window anyway - based on the last 5 seasons.

So clearly we should all be panicking soon.

I am unsure of the Jan stats. I'll work them out in a second though... bear with me..

BJH YNWA

What nonsense! It's not first come first served. Spurs offered more wages so he went there.

PLease guys could we stop going on and on about this 'exciting player.' Like i and im sure others have said if it is Baroni or Dempsey or whoever else, Rodgers is not going to say his next signing is boring and average is he?!

Clearly he must see something in who he wants and thats good enough for me to at least wait and see how they perform.

People are calling dempsey and Baroni average?
Stupid really, Baroni scoring record is a lot better this year than an average players and Dempseys stats are similar to Gerrards.

Ill freely admit neither make me think Oh my God we going to win the premiership but they could easily benefit our team

gareth

He's boring,
He's droll,
Look he just scored a goal!
Borini the Unexciting!

(nickname unabashedly stolen from a previous poster)

All kidding aside, I completely agree with you. I don't know much of Borini, but BR clearly does, and if he thinks he's a good fit for the team than I'm more than willing to give the kid a chance. As for Dempsey- I really like him. He's aggressive, knows how to find the back of the net, and as you point out has done pretty well the last few years.

Your right, however i'm glad to see some positive news. a back-up striker is needed as is a winger and perhaps a midfielder and a backup left back if robbo goes on loan, so then we look into players who fit those roles that we were linked with. now i doubt that rodgers will say that a backup striker or a backup leftback will be an exciting signing, so that leaves a midfielder or a winger as the big signing. i don't know who it could be but maybe you can make your assumptions from there...
cheers.

I've never slagged a player off either one who's about to join (maybe?) or one who plays for us. I have lately defended spearing and Henderson and before that Lucas. But I really don't want to see Dempsey in a Liverpool shirt. His stats this year have been great and the year before weren't bad either but the previous 4 weren't nothing special. I think he is a player who fits Fulham and is comfortable there, and has taken a while to be comfortable there, he won't get that luxary at Liverpool. I don't think he will be good for us. Fortunately I think its all paper talk and we dont actually want him.
I would like Borini though, he was highly rated at Chelsea and looks a good prospect.

Eds I'm not quite sure whether this is more fitting on
Here or your conspiracy site. Here goes.
On the lfc website there is the section on press speculation. Why is there a mention of every player we have been linked with this past week yet nothing of Ramirez,

Cover up?
Thanks
Jarred

Ah, here come the smokescreens! Knew it was only a matter of time....

10 Jul 2012 22:31:26
Lots and lots of talk about Carroll going out on loan,if BR lets this happen he's not exactly going to endear himself to the fans now is he ?!

Not exactly...most Reds fans have more faith in Rodgers tactics than Carroll's play last season...but I believe we need Carroll playing for Rodgers...if Carroll is loaned out or sold without having played a game for Rodgers then something negative has happened behind the scenes...

Are these the same "fans" who did nothing but whine about AC all last season? I for one would love AC to say but trust in what BR is trying to bring to this amazing club.

Aussie Scouse

Did AC endear himself to the fans.
Come on, Andy is not right for LFC.

10 Jul 2012 22:03:15
I understand their is "interest" in borini, but I swear a few weeks ago roma had just signed him for full ownership ? Please could you enlighten me
Thanks {Ed001's Note - that is irrelevant, all it meant was that Roma could now negotiate a deal to sell him. They only had half ownership previously. In these cases, it is quite normal for one club to take full ownership simply to sell the player for a profit.}

10 Jul 2012 21:54:20
ED's what do you think about carroll playing under BR as much as he has been improving lately, I just think it might be a repeat season as we didn't really play for him last season and he struggled. Would BR even play him if we are as the reports are saying looking to bring in another striker boroni?

Thanks
{Ed001's Note - we needed a striker anyway, whether Carroll stays or goes, so signing Borini makes no difference. I really don't know what Rodgers intends to do with Carroll, there are clubs interested in him, but I don't know if Rodgers would consider selling him yet. Rodgers did like a target man at Swansea though.}

Thanks I just feel we would regret it when he's firing them in again.

Hope you're right Ed - Id hate to see Carroll leave after finding his feet. I have a feeling he will be back to his best wherever he plays this season

Borini seriously considering move according to his agent according to sly sports, to be honest I've never heard of the kid to be truthful so I can't judge but surely we can attract a more well known striker?

Just my opinion, but I don't think Borini is intended to be a 'first choice striker'.

For the moment, I think that mantle belongs to Carroll, but I'd guess we need another striker to strengthen the squad and Borini seems a pretty good backup/substitute (or potentially even becoming the first choice, depending on form, attitude, and results in training) to have around.

Like I said, just my opinion, but I think Borini coming in is independent of any potential situation involving Carroll and/or Suarez and is really just meant to strengthen the squad overall (which he would I think).

10 Jul 2012 21:36:23
What is your opinion edds would borini be a good signing? How about the other targets who are possible example Ramirez, sturridge, Allen, dembsey or michu.

Cheers YNWA {Ed001's Note - not seen much of Borini, he never convinced me though, but Rodgers will know him much better than I do. Ramirez I rate highly, as I do Dempsey and Allen. Not seen Michu play at all. Sturridge is just not a good player, he has ability but unfortunately that ability is wasted on him. He is a ball hog, I am not sure he even understands the word pass and he simply would not fit into a pass and move system.}

One of rodgers main points is that he likes to help develop a player are make him better therefore he can work with sturridge and teach him thing like how to look up , when to run and when to pass

Hi ed's

Just wanted to get one thing clear, who do you ed's think that will be our "exciting" signing?

A good question but if the eds give an answer that turns out to be wrong you will get these c*nts who will mouth off to them about it.

Would anyone else be a little dissappointed if we were to let Andy Carroll go?

Personally feel that he was starting to show decent form towards the end of the season! Hope it works out for the big fella as it seems like he has tried to turn his lifestyle and everything around to try and give this a real good go!

To everyone who downright accuses people of lying with their posts, you ridicule people who come on here giving any snippit of the stuff they may know just because it sounds unlikely, yet if Macca comes on and says it you all feed off the scrap of information for days and thank him a million times over for his input.
This is by no means any sort of attack on Macca, im thankful we have someone to give us reliable information, but why is everyone else who posts rumours posting BS? Maybe theyre not.
My main example of this is Andy Carroll, many people came on here saying he is leaving, they got told it was BS, now Macca says its a possibility and you all believe it all of a sudden.
Just dont be so quick to put people down, or they might not come on and post when they do have a piece of golden information that we all want to know so badly.

Keep up the good work Eds, Macca and others ITK!

Anfield Andy

Understand wot you trying to say m8 and I agree,I'm not one for making stuff up or lying ,Carnt c why people do I'll feel daft ,but TBH sum do not all !! We should maybe be carefull about jumping on peoples bk because sum maybe just trying to help us mortals out I takes time to trust in most cases till then people should show a bit more respect I think ,but then again this is a banter site ,so maybe if people do banter keep it in line a bit ,sorry for sounding boring YNWA Lfc linc

True however for every one who is right there are one thousand gobsh*ites who decide to waste peoples time because they have nothing better to do. macca is also a very credible source who has earned his reputation. the other posts which say watch this space or my dogs aunts friend... is just BS

Just don't get the Andy Carroll out on loan business . I agree his first year at the club was difficult but in the last month of the season he showed why we invested money in him and I thought he carried that on during the 2012 championships . If he started this season the way he ended last season then we could have a real player on our hands. Players who need to be loaned out don't get loaned to A.C Milan ! Brendon please stick by him and next season you plus a lot of others will be pleasantly surprised by him .

Hi, I was just wondering if the eds or anyone else could give me real examples of sly reporting stories that are completely false.

Cheers guys! {Ed001's Note - the story about Babel being whisked all over London in a helicopter is one that immediately springs to mind.}

2 weeks ago they said that Lauren Blanc was in 'Preliminary talks with Spurs to become new manager". Last week they said 'AVB was on a shortlist of one"

Reading this site over the past two days makes me feel ashamed. Not only do the majority of you see fit to criticise current players, the manager and the owners but now you criticise the potential new signings before they've even signed. Some of you show know respect to the team, and I could never talk the way some of you do about the club I love. Borini and Dempsey have been torn to pieces, let's not forget Dempsey scored more goals than any of our players last year, and Rodgers knows all about Borini, so how about we trust his opinion? Especially considering lots of you have most likely never seen or rarely seen him play, myself included. What would you have thought when we signed Rush from Chester? How about when he started the season badly. The worst thing though is when people feel the need to describe our current players as "deadwood", no self respecting fan would ever call one of our players that.
I must be in the vast majority for the reason that I actually support the whole Club and will always do so. Whoever we sign will have my 100 percent backing as long as they are proud to play with that Liverbird upon they're chest. What the great man Bill Shankly would think of some of you.

Smithy

Well bloody said Smithy mate... Spot on.

Stevie.

Refreshing to read posts that make you think, thank god there are other supporters than feel like me.
Great post mate and i also feel ashamed and hope to god are proposed signing do not read these posts as who would blame them for saying 'no thanks.' I truly wondered for a while at first if that was what happened to Sigurdsson.

The saddest thing for me is YNWA is becoming meaningless with all the negative feedback the owners, manager, players and prospects get.

Im no so old but i do rememeber the greta days when not only were we champions but we looked after and cherished those who supported and played their part for the team

Gareth

Nice post mate. I think the pathetic excuse that has reared it's head from time to time, "to complain shows you care," is detrimental to these fans. Personally I thought supporting "shows you care." I used to be frustrated by said fans too, but what I realised is LFC/this site has so many people from so many varied demographics, some are going to youngsters, a bit none the wiser to football yet, people who feel LFC is there Life and have nothing else, so when LFC are underachieving, they take too personally. Fans who grew up when LFC were dominating/competing at high levels and have had trouble adjusting. I stopped banging my head against the wall and started looking for posts like your's to relieve any frustration and recognise that there are positive fans out there.

Well said lad, well said!

Was wondering why I was the first to agree with ya there Smithy, so i hit refresh and found my "agree" had disappeared. This actually happened a few times - any reason for this eds? But Smithy I'm with ya on this one theres a lot of that goes on where players have been criticised before they've kicked a ball. Give them a chance I say. I'm ever the optimist and maybe I'm wrong, but its better than the flip-side. I'll support regardless cos this is my club. YNWA

TAYPOT

Smithy,
I must have no self respect for the belief that a player such as charles itandje who never did anything other than collect a paycheck and was caught joking during a Hillsborough memorial is "deadwood."
Just because someone signed him and he pulled on a Liverpool shirt does not mean he deserves anymore or less respect than anybody else. I am so ashamed of myself.

Coley

Yeah Smithy i agree but every fanbase has ar*eholes. TYPE3 fans. i agree that if brendan thinks he can step up then he definitely can. end of the day a good post.

BenO' {Ed001's Note - I would love to see him given more freedom, he has the ability to do more than just sit and protect the back four.}

Agree with Ed001. In Brazil (was it Gremio?) he played a more attacking role and was very influential.

It just goes to show the ability of the lad that he came to England at such a young age, changed his position to become more disciplined and after a shaky start (with heavy criticism), he's now one of the finest holding midfielders in the league.

If he had more freedom and I think he'd embrace it. But he's brilliant at his job, so for the time being, I'd keep him as a holding midfielder.

Joe

Yeah he started as a box-to-box midfielder.

Hello Eds...good job you're doing and congrats for keeping your sanity (seemingly).
I asked a while ago about the possibility of having some sort of "community ads" page where fans could advertise lifts, spare tickets, memorabilia etc.
My main reason for asking is I'm a season-ticket holder but, because of work-comittments, I will struggle to get to all of the games. Sundays could be a particular problem (given the Europa League could mean many more Sunday games).
I appreciate that allowing someone else to use your season-ticket could be seen as a bit dodgy but I wouldn't make any money (in fact I'd take less than the cost) and tickets are sold openly on the internet all the time.
The other thing is I now live in Oldham and can offer lifts to anyone from this sheepshaggers paradise!
A meat-pie and a fiver would clinch the deal.
To get the ball rolling, I can't make the Arsenal home-game on Sunday 2nd September. My LFC mates are either going already or working that day. Like I say, I'm not looking to cash-in but I would like to give a genuine fan who can't normally get tickets a chance to watch a top match under the Brenvolution (corny?)
I know I'm probably asking a bit much of you Eds to create this type of thing (legality and workload probably being the issues) but I do think a "swap-shop" or classified ads page might be very popular.
Anyhoo, hope we sign Gaston Ramirez, Joe Allen and Clint Dempsey.
Hope we sell Spearing, Aquilani(worst signing ever!), Cole, Pacheco and Maxi(wants to leave).
Whatever business we do, I hope we keep Agger,Johnson, Carroll,Skirtel, Reina, Sterling and Suso.
I can't believe that the "sack Brendan Brigade" are over-fifteen Liverpool supporters.
I can't believe the "bring back Rafa" brigade are really football fans. His limited talents, massive ego and weekly tantrums cost us dearly. Bad buys and bad tactics don't get you the League Title. He'll be a deserving part of our history but what we've been missing, managerially, over the last few years is the "Bob Paisley approach". Brendan Rodgers has a certain humility about him. His interviews are guarded but not un-friendly. He says much but says nothing. Even Shanks would've struggled to deal with todays media-rats but Brendan has impressed. Let's support any and every decision he makes...even if he replaces Agger with Titus Bramble!
I can't feel too "connected" with the so-called Liverpool fans who have already lost patience with a manager yet to manage a game or make a transfer decision.
We all have to accept, however hard it is, that Brendan Rodgers probably knows more about football than us. And FSG are probably more financially committed than we are to the long-term success of the Club (emotionally they'll never be committed enough but let's give them time).
Anyway, I'm off now, but my parting request to fellow reds is to get behind the team at home. Last season was absolute sh!t£!
ANFIELDPETE {Ed001's Note - we will have to do our research first on the legalities, so I doubt we will have a chance to start anything until after the transfer window shuts.}

Totally spot on ANFIELDPETE, good post mate.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Dont know if i can say this but i would love first dibs on that ticket and wouldnt let you down. Also from woolyback land and dont get tickets as easy as i use to.

mike

Bad buys and bad tactics from Rafa?
And you say you'll accept it if Rodgers replaces Agger with Bramble?
You're a joke.
Nice to see you supporting our manager, but not at the expense of a former Champions League winning manager of ours.
We can talk about Brendan Rodgers again when he has brought us a Champions League title and at least a 2nd placing in the league.
And your last line, 'Last season was absolute s**te', the only absolute s**te part of the season is 'supporters' like you ANFIELDPETE.
You're pathetic.

Ah...one of Rafa's "blind-faithers" who won't accept a bad word against the man.
Call me pathetic all you like you jumped-up,
nameless prat. At least I sign my posts and always support our CURRENT manager!

We should be keepig Carrol , we need a strong squad with options not loaning Him out , how to wreck his confidence after he started getting it together in public saying he'd be loaned out , like last season we need depth , we could have done with cole on bench last year , and if we also lose Agger would be very very dissapointed as he is a center back who can play

It may come to nothing, but should Borini sign, its worth noting he's only 21,and he shouldn't cost anymore than 10 Million max.
For a young striker Rodgers has managed before it bodes well. This is not going to be the coup of the year, but maybe just a bit of shrewd business.
I just wouldn't like to see him subject to the same scrutiny Carroll was, because he's not the exciting new talent everybody wants,or is expecting from let's face it,comments on Twitter.

Players can surprise you,I can't see Brendan signing a player he's managed twice,if he thinks its a risk.
Comments and abuse welcome. WelshBoyDave

He was in Italian squad of euro 2012 not playing any match but it's not easy to get a chance in national team if you don't have any quality.

Agreed, although from some of the idiotic comments others won't feel the same. However if there is a 'big' signing as hinted then these fairweather fans will no doubt jump on board

Dempsey isn't great and at his age there is a lot better options out there.

Its more the price tag and his age, hes already had the best season he will ever have.

If they do sign Dempsey it's to bridge the gap between the present and the future. Gives us 2 years with a consistent, solid player while we blood suso in with cameos, and cup play. And he shows up for big games (internationals).

just to let you all know, I CAN ASSURE YOU that the Dempsey rumours are true. A figure between 7.5m and 8m has been mentioned. Fulham will cash in on him. However, Tottenham are also showing and interest. I have also been informed that there is some serious interest from 3 clubs (1 in Italy and 2 in Spain) for Agger. While it has been confirmed Agger is happy at Liverpool, management are looking at potentially doubling up on him with a great cash+player offer.

I have a feeling we'll beat Tottenham to his signature

Well I'm glad you can assure me person with no name, where would I bee without your honesty

Please post in rumours....

Hi All, I want to address the apparent negativity regarding Andy Carroll and his possible "loan" elsewhere. I actually like him, I believe that given the chance and a decent run of games that the boy can come good in the long run. Last season was an awkward one for him, much of the season spent on the bench as an extremely expensive sub. Some might even say that he was bought as a panic buy to replace Torres, something that to this day I believe.

I do not feel that the fault lies with Carroll but rather with Newcastle and Liverpool and the way in which the deal was concieved and concluded. One minute a number 9 at St James', the next number 9 at one of the most well known clubs on a global scale....just a bit of pressure for a 21 year old kid with a £35m price tag.

I also believe that some resonsibility must be placed at the door of the management in place at the time and the way in which they decided to use his ability and quality - of which he has plenty. Give the lad regular games, build his confidence, have the fans back him to the hilt and then I think that we will find that we have a quality forward in Andy Carroll.

If we gave him the number 9 shirt made so famous over the years by some of the most prolific forwards, historically, in English football then we must give him the respect that comes with that shirt and the time that he may need in order to forfill his potential in it.

I hope he stays, I hope we back him and I hope that he can show not just domestically but globally what a quality player he can be with the backing of the fans and the management. By the way, I took the time to watch the press conference in which Andy Carroll was discussed and I did not hear Rodgers exclaim at any point that he would look to loan him out.....its lazy journalism designed to whip up gossip and sell papers / fill in time on 24 hour sport channels.

Believe in our players and they will deliver.

YNWA.

I believed in Sean Dundee and he didn't deliver.

I agree with most of your post and i also watched BR press conference. They way i interperated his comments regarding Andy Carrol was that he was dodging most of the questions and although offering some encouragement to the player never really said he was a definate part of his long term plans. This has come to light with BR comments that he would think about loaning AC to another club. This could be a good and bad idea depending on the conditions of his loan. If he improved greatly he could then either come back to LFC as much needed goal scorer or be sold for a price closer to what LFC bought him for. If he fails to make an impact at his loan club LFC will have to take a loss and move on hopefully wiser over the experiance.

Bill

Excellent post. Agree with everything you've said there. I sincerely hope he's given a run of games because on form he's lethal.
For some reason he's acquired a reputation as a target man who's only good in the air.

He's much more than that. Tidy in possession, links play well, when fit he works harder than most strikers and contrary to popular belief, he can finish.

He'll score goals. Maybe not 30+ a season like we've enjoyed from strikers in the past, but he'll create a fair few as well.

I've been privileged to watch some great strikers at Anfield over the years, but this lad deserves a chance.

He's got far more ability than people give him credit for. If we let him go I honestly think we'll live to regret it.

Joe

Julian Draxler-linked but does anyone know much about him?Potential target?Fits the profile for FSG.

10 Jul 2012 21:06:02
This is crazy, why is everyone moaning?! He haven't signed anyone this week, the players we linked to aren't going to be earning 200k per week...?

That's the reality. All I want to see is a good few in who can play the system well, and a few out.

You can't judge BR or any signing until a ball is kicked!

OK Guys,

I've heard we are going in for Walcott, he wont be signing for Chelsea or City as there is to much competition for places, Spuds are a no go same as Utd (he is a Liverpool fan) so that leaves us or a move abroad? Arsenal want £15m but we wont pay more than £10m as he had a poor season last year.

And we are going for Kaka.....on a free (or minimal) something to do with his wages, which RM want off their books, he is surplus to requirements at RM, I've heard their is a stumbling block on the length of contract, my mate reckons he wants four years and we are only going for two pos three years sort of thing, anybody heard anything along these lines???

I hold my hands up when it comes to accuracy as two seasons ago I was mostly spot on Suarez etc. but last season I was completely gazumped and got everyone wrong if you do a search, but hey I think everyone was flummoxed by KD's signings, believe what you will, I would like to hear your thoughts?

Tobey

After reading my post people may be a bit confused as to why? I suppose, and this is just my thought, if we were to play 433 then the back four aside it would shape up something like this, Lucas, Gerrard and Kaka either side and further up field Carrol, Walcott and Suarez either side if that makes sense, for around £10m + Kaka's signing on fee I could envisage BR's train of thought, just my opinion of course?

Also this would go some way in explaining the signing of Borini, we would not need to go out and sign a £30-40 striker, Spain won the Euro's without really playing a striker (just showing off maybe) Borini who neatly tucks them away in the box would fit this system perfectly...just my thoughts...could be wide off the mark but hey ho

Kaka would not come to liverpool for £10m try £25m+

Would that not go against fsg policy, signing older players with a large wage

Gljosh

10 Jul 2012 21:04:36
Pato is the Brazilian guy thats coming in - and he is a good mate of Lucas! Also Ramirez Borini and Dempsey in too! These are the main targets! No one else after that! Others will be squad players and no one will get sold or loaned! Lets see what happens this season :)

Go for a winger instead of borini and Dempsey.

They may be shown on LFC TV like last year but i'm not 100% sure. Either way they'll definitely show the games but they may not be live.

They'll be on wiziwig mate, always are.

Borini, Dempsey, Allen etc. would all be good squad players, but none of them for me will solve our problems, as we already have players in the squad at their level. It is clear that we need two top quality wingers and I'm sure BR knows this. Hell every Liverpool fan on the planet knows this. None of these players fit into what BR described in his press conference as 'exciting'. For me, the most exciting player on the team sheet should be a winger, which is what I believe will be top of his priorities in the transfer market.
We need to stop signing players with the potential to be good; we have more players in the squad with the potential to be good i.e. Henderson, Carroll, Shelvey etc. and not enough top players i.e. Suarez, Gerrard, Agger etc. The wingers we seem to be linked with i.e. Moses, Sturridge, Walcott, all have flaws in their games ( they can't cross), and are not the full article. If BR is ambitious as I believe he is, he should be aiming for wingers in the catergory of Ramirez & Jovetic (one of which I have a feeling will be our first signing). I get sick of hearing about how good we used to be just like everyone else, but for me, the nostalgia of the past is what we should be using to attract players to the club (That's what helped sign the likes of Torres).

Lewis the Red

All 3 of those players are much more proven than the Liverpool players you mention, and bar Dempsey, proven under Rodgers.

rikdangerous

How many Italian caps had Borini got? What?! None? How many EPL games has he played? What?! Only a couple of sub appearances? Yeah he's certainly more proven than Carroll.

Lewis the Red

Borini would have more international caps if he were English. The Italian squad is much stronger. Why don't you believe in Rodgers and judge his signings at the end of the season. Rodgers has already stated that he wants players that are in tune with the philosophy of the club, but I imagine the top players you mention may be more interested in where the club is now, not what we were doing 30 years ago.

I do believe in Rodgers, which is why I don't believe he'd loan out Carroll to make way for Borini

Lewis the Red

10 Jul 2012 20:57:30
Carroll shouldn't be blamed for lack of goals. Others should be blamed for lack of service Downing,Kuyt on the wings. If he got the service like off Gerrard at euros or merelies against city he would be unplayable. I for one hope he stays & proves what he can do. Not blaming Rodgers but don't want Borini. How many Italians have been a success in prem league? 1 Zola

This is nonsense. It was not the lack of service that was our downfall last year. It was our lack of ability to put the ball in the net when chances were created.

The Irish Rover

Di canio, vialli, di matteo...

How many uruguayans have been a success in the premier league? 1. Poyet. Guess we shouldn't have signed suarez then.
Why bad mouth potential signings before they have even signed?

Crossing was about the only thing Downing did well this season, and Mario Balotelli is doing quite well

DiCanio, Di Matteo and Vialli were pretty good

Hans {Ed001's Note - at times Ravanelli did well.}

Vialli. Macaroni to name 2 others of the top of my head

What about Di cannio, de matteo they were great players in the prem. Along with vialli, ravanelli

Ravanelli, Vialli, Di Canio, Carbone??

MidlandRed

Di canio yes vialli well past his best when he arrived Di Matteo unlucky to get bad injury. Don't give me Ravenelli moaned the whole time he was here & only here for big money. Macarone total rubbish most goals were penaltys & there wasn't many. Balotelli says it all constantly talks of going back to Italy more of a liability to team I.e Arsenal game come on name some more great Italian prem league success story's Tiebi,diamante,panucci,festa,aquilani, {Ed002's Note - And Zola?}

Not 1 of those players apart from Di Canio did the business for more than a season Ravenelli wanted out before he got in game to fast for Italian players. Not bad mouthing Borini facts don't lie Italians track record in prem league poor.

Hello Ed's what is going on. Rodgers target players like borini and dempsey and he thinks they r exciting signing. I dnt thnk so. These are just awful players who do well in small clubs but nt in big clubs. So Ed do lfc target anyone who s more capable of playing at bigger stage. And do u expect any of these players will come ramirez luuk de jong, A.johnson, sturidge or any1 else who do u expect.
Plz Ed reply must so i can hope for sumthng better. Thanx.

Just heard a rumour that Chelski are indeed chasing OSCAR. In the midst of negotiations it is believed that the producers of Sesame Street have requested more money as this will cause some harm whilst transferring him from USA style trash can to the usual UK plastic wheelie bin. LOL

Surely your wrong. Chelski are only interested in signing the muppets

Chelsea can chase all of the top players because they are one of the elite teams in world football nowadays fact look at there recent trophy haul for proof i'd say.

Agger to go to Real Madrid to play CB alongside Pepe, move Ramos to midfield to play alongside Khedira, Modric also comes in this leaves Alonso and Granero surplus to requirements and be sold to LFC

Blimey this Fantasy Football lark is really easy !!!

Leam Red

Oh aye. take the best centre back in the euros and put him in midfield at the expense of the tournaments best midfielder....great idea - of course that's what's gonna happen.

Ed, I wouldn't mind Borini, even if i'm not to sure on him but not a the expense of Carroll. I'm hoping for Carroll to stay will it be a case of one stays, the other goes and could Carroll work with Brendan he'd been improving a lot recently but I understand how he may not fit into Brendan way of playing but at the same time to be sold would mean a great loss of money. -McMenemy

I wouldn't mind Borini either McMenemy mate. The kid got in the Italian 23 man squad for the Euro. Considering the Italians strike force (Balotelli, Di Natale Cassano) they have, is a great achievement for the kid and gained valuable big tournament experience. Prandelli and BR obviously think he is a decent player.

My concern is what if Andy does leave? We'll need 2 strikers instead of one.

Thanks
Barnseysleeg

ps Eds you do a great job.

I am guessing you heard this from earlier this evening? I highly doubt Lewis Holtby would consider Liverpool as he is an avid Everton fan.

James Mc

Yeah, because no Everton fans have ever done well for Liverpool. Fowler, Mcmanaman, Carragher, I could go on....

Ed(s), I am unsure if I added the persons name who made up this rumour. But if you have deleted it I do apologise if mentioning peoples names is below the line.

James Mc

Keep going on... How old were they again? Now please name an adult 21+ who has signed for Liverpool.

Also, please tell me where I have said he will "Never/Not" sign. I said it would be doubtful. Totally different from completely dismissing the rumour.

But as you haven't signed off you most probably would not reply. And if you did it would be offensive anyway so don't bother.

Can we please give BR a chance...this fella is trying to impose a passing, attacking quick game on a squad that has players who individually play to a wide spectrum of strengths. We played some sound football under kenny but he was to soft on players, BR has set his stall out and flexed his authority, I get the feeling (with likes of shelvey contract) that we may have a manager with the tezzers to finally play the youth...remember the "never win anything with a team of kids" quote? Patching things up since souness hasn't f'in worked. This guy BR seems to be up for the job of a major overhaul. Which by my reckoning we need. On the surface he's doing the right things, albeit some to win fans with obvious PR stunts. One player doesn't get us back to CL...massive team effort and pride in the badge does that, not a team of mario's. Last time I checked Audi didn't just put a top gearbox in and said we are done here....takes all parts, no matter how small, working together....

Ahh b****cks...more wine less whine

Xabi Alonso has refused to rule out a return to his former club Liverpool in the future but insists that he is currently happy at Real Madrid.
"I spent five fantastic years in Liverpool" he told ESPN STAR Sports Christy Simson.
"It was an experience that - I didn't feel that when I got there that it was going to be as wonderful as it ended being."
"I am really attached to Liverpool, so who knows in the future. At the moment, I am doing fantastically - I am not moving."

get ready for some big news that will break in the next couple of days, basically my cousin is a season ticket holder at arsenal and hes been told within the club that they are trying to sign moses from wigan because walcott has only just over a year left on his contact and wont sign another one, what ive been told that hes about to join liverpool fc,hence the exiting signing rodgers was talking about, bonus is that the walcott and his family are big lfc fans, just wait and see if you dont believe what i am saying..nick cheshunt..YNWA..

I don't believe what your saying that's the problem

10 Jul 2012 20:11:04
Ed's can you clarify if you think the comments relayed by ben smith from bbc is a load of bull or may have actually been said? He seems to talk BS most of the time so why should we believe him this time? Finally do you think borini is the signing that Rodgers was referring to that we will get in by the end of the week? To say that a fee etc must surely have been agreed, so I think it's not borini in first. Please don't laugh but I have a sneaky feeling it's torres. {Ed002's Note - No idea, and you should not read hidden meaning in to everything.}

I tink every one is reading far to much into rodgers press conference. Im from Ireland and have watched his press conference 5times now tryin to see if i could pick up on something from his humour and character that others might miss, the same way a scouser would pick up a bit more from another scouser sense of humour etc... Ya get my point,

The only two things I can see is that Andy really doesnt look like hes part of his plans which I hope BR doesnt get rid to hasty I tink kenny done this when he came in after Roy, he spent a 100m yet all the best players were the ones who were already at the club pepe, skertel, agger, gerrard, johnson, lucas with the exception of suarez but we did lose torres at the same time.

As for xabi alonso coming back I dont see in any way how rodgers eluded to this?? I would love to see it happen bt cant see it this season... Of course he'l say its exciting and the likes of borini could be an exciting prospect no one knows and im sure BR rates him highly and if he wants to come to LFC its shows he really wants to play for us, so lets give every one a chance iv a really good feeling about this season and cant wait to see us play our 1st friendly and see how we adopt this tika-taka style... Keep the faith

Dub_Red YNWA

Im from the green emerald to he aint giving anything away thats for sure.

Are teams not gunna be able to play the tika-taka style so soon, it will take time to adapt, wont see to much development on how we play in the first match...

That Rodgers said 'the fans will love him' makes me think he might be talking about Borini. He has a reputation for working his socks off for the cause - a trait admired by all Liverpool fans.

Maybe. The not knowing is exciting though. It's like asking Santa Claus for a surprise on your Christmas list.

The inner-child within me, who has no concept of money, still has a little glimmer of hope that we will get a shiny new Commodore 64 (Cavani? lol) but deep down you know it will be another bloody colouring book rolled up and stuck in a mouldy sock -

and you know that you're to damned old to still be getting colouring books..... you're eight for Gods sakes! Just for once... you wanted the world.....

But then you can end up quite enjoying the colouring book and end up colouring in all of the pictures (whilst sitting in the corner pretending you're still in a huff).

Years later though, you'll be happy looking back, remembering the colouring book fondly - and you'll also smile as you remember your smug friends face, when he realised that the Commadore was actually pretty s**t.

The situation is somewhat similar.

Maybe I should put some milk and cookies in the living room - and there will be a Uruguayan doing kickups there tomorrow morning - and displaying wonderful technical ability when doing so!

Probably not though.

SUMON VAI, You're a complete knob.

You claim to be a Liverpool fan but your posts are only ever to slag players off, and now you're calling our new manager a liar?
Can you elaborate? Please tell us exactly how and when he's lied to us?

Your posts are always ridiculously blunt and unstructured.
Example: "he's a liar, he's pathetic, he's disgusting" etc.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion but I at least expect some reasoning and explanation.

That's how I've come to conclusion that you're a knob. See what I've done there?
I've made a statement (you're a knob) then backed it up with exactly why you're a knob.
Feel free to disagree, maybe even spark a little debate. But I suspect you'll just further reinforce the fact that you're a massive knob.

Hi Eds just a rant
absolutely NO SENSE in letting Carroll go out on loan, he struggles to adapt and has only just started to settle and live up to his price tag. He will be a liverpool legend if given the chance. how the hell can spearing be given a clean slate and andy shipped out on loan. No benefit at all remember Aquaman

So Carroll gets slated on here all of last season and because the new manager doesn't publicly back him its madness? Well i makes perfect sense to me. If Carroll goes out on loan or is sold (far more likely) i really wouldn't see a problem. Personally i thank he's a decent/average premier league standard player, nothing more really. And for all the people yet again hammering a player before he's even played for us, in this case Borini, one question how many of you have seen him play?

Couple of bits of info I've just heard eds.....

1. Liverpool made an attempt to sign Pablo Armero before he signed for Napoli. This may suggest we are looking at players in his position? I believe he is a left back but can play left midfield?

2. Luc Castaignos from Inter is a possibility however IF this were to happen a loan deal may be most likely at the moment

I don't see how anyone can tell we're gonna sell Carroll , BR always has a big striker who can poach if we buy borini I Don't think it will be for the striking position for one of the flanks maybe
But i Don't see why he would want to sell the best big striker England has if he likes to play with one(graham)

The midfielders have to the tiki taka not the striker

Well said mate. See you at Anfield next season unlike the majority of these so called supporters who will probably spend more time slating our players on social networking sites to anyone who cares to listen!

Fair play lad, good rant

Glad to see there are still some proper fans out there. Getting sick and fed up of some of our fans' attitude. Season not started yet but the bitching is out in force...sad, really sad.

THAT is a rant to be proud of mate...

I think we have to be realistic about transfer targets and in my humble opinion the two potential transfer targets are Borini & Joe Allen. The other couple of potentials will probably be dependant on others leaving i.e Carroll, Maxi, Aqua etc...

Ciario

10 Jul 2012 18:59:29
Been told by ex player we where never in for Sigurdsson, it was to show everyone Liverpools new stance and that we wont be held to ransom when we do go after our targets. We are no longer paying over the odds.

Gerrard to sign for Real Madrid WATCH THIS SPACE!

Why would he do that?

Why would they want him?

Kam I think that egg has just landed on your face. Borini's on his way. End of.

Haha! Well done. That actually made my day. Like I said in a previous post i hold my hands up. I will take that egg sunny side up. I was wrong about his increasingly likely transfer, however I am still of the opinion that he isnt that good. But hopefully he will prove any of his doubters totally wrong im which case I look forward to more egg.... ;)

Thanks

i have been browsing the site quite often and intrigued as to how many people get sucked into the media hype.
Whenever has majority of newspapers or media Television been Liverpools Concern.
They will publish players who are not of world class quality because they dont see Liverpool like us fans do.

Whoever we do sign will be of quality.
Again a Brazilian is on his way.

Damo

Here's this guy again with a Brazilian is on his way. Are you talking about Lucas cause he's already back

We all know LUCAS is on his way BACK to full fitness, but thanks 4 reminding me AGAIN...... lol

Hi guys and gals,we all seem to want to spend big money on big name players it didnt work last year so why should it work now,I THINK this manager will buy players who will fit in with his game and that doesnt mean BIG NAME signings.BILL SHANKLY (for very little money) signed a player named GORDON MILNE from Preston N/E who when playing with better players became Liverpools captain and played for England which those days was a very BIG deal, and we ALL know the ALONSO story so lets leave it to the manager and pray he brings us
back to where we belong, and it seems to me we dont have much choice or say in the matter.(godin)

Interesting thing about gordon milne who i thought was very good , his dad was manager of preston n.e when howard kendal was there shanks knew milne senior from his days at preston when shanks asked to buy kendal he was asked what position he would play and shanks said wing half oh thats where my lad plays said mr milne so he did not sell kendal to the reds.

Sense at last! Some of the whingers on this site are getting very tedious.
KJS

Great points but be careful Shankly was long time ago, different era

Hi eds is there any chance of kaka as br said he will make a big name signing ?
{Ed016's Note - Brendan never said he will make a big name signing, not even once. Amazing how you came to that conclusion.}

10 Jul 2012 17:43:20
Hi eds,

Just wondering if you've heard anything regarding how players are finding life under BR? Is training more interesting? Enjoyable etc?

Thanks,

Raoul {Ed016's Note - They spend more time with the ball. Lots of passing drills}

Do they spend less time flicking each others ears?

Red Raw

Apparently they are all enjoying it quite allot . From what i hear its a refreshing change from some of the more fitness based long runs etc pre season sessions of days past .
there is a lot of pressing the ball and containment as well which sounds just like what i have been screaming at the telly for them to do for years .
CrAsH

{Ed016's Note - The latest interview from Jonjo Shelvey briefly touches on the training. Liverpoolfc.tv}

10 Jul 2012 17:33:04
Hi Eds
With BR stating that we should all be excited with a potential signing by the end of the week, is the wording of the Borini statement by Roma actually indicating that this is not the player that BR is referring to?
Maybe I'm reading between the lines but they've stated LFC has an 'interest' which in my opinion is far away from an end of the week signing.
Your thoughts would be appreciated please.
Redman.

10 Jul 2012 17:32:29
Hi Ed's, I've read today that we are interested in Jacob Blaszczykowski, are you aware of any interest?

JJ86 {Ed016's Note - He is currently seeking a new deal at his current club}

10 Jul 2012 17:17:12
hi eds quick question as an avid liverpool surporter, since BR said he has hoped to sign maybe 2 people this week why on earth all these clubs and agents are claiming liverpool have asked about their player, is this just to raise their profile for a move elsewere i.e BS or is this real as some of the players are definetly not what i would expect liverpool to be looking at, just thought id ask the question before i read any more "breaking news reports" on other websites! Also when macca says 4 players in 4 out, do you think he means 4 first team players then on top of that aquafatty, cole etc? Cheers andyh

10 Jul 2012 18:27:24
Andy Carroll is wanted by Celtic, with a possible season long loan move being considered.

A player coming into Liverpool could be Spurs defender Sebastian Bassong, he is surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane and Liverpool see him as a replacement for Carragher, an offer of around £8m has already been made.

Also on Liverpool`s radar is Kevin Doyle and a bid of around £17m is being considered, with a view to replacing the outgoing Carroll.

^^^^^^ confused.com ^^^^^^^

Are you mad 17m for Kevin Doyle

Quite possibly the most made up and worst rumour I've heard on this site. Celtic? No. £8m for Bassong? No. £17m for Doyle? Definitely not

You only found the Kevin Doyle bit mad?

The whole post is ridiculous

Red Raw

17m for Kevin Doyle? What nut-house have you escaped from? {Ed016's Note - I know it seems odd. But you should do some research into "nut-houses" Especially the damaging effect of Institutionalisation has, you might find that the term "nut-house" is just as offensive to people as racial slurs can be}

Prepared to go along with till Doyle bit.Can only conclude poster left out the decimal point in Doyle valuation {Ed049's Note - haha}

Quick, somebody tell Suarez not to call anyone a nuthouse. Haha

i wish all the doom mongers on here would give it a break, and all the fantasists lol.we have to start being realistic and work out that we are not going to sign cavani, benzema etc.give BR a chance see where we are going and not knock the transfers hes making till theyve actually kicked a ball for us.gr8 site btw EDs keep it up.

Agree. Good shout. Some fans are an embarrassment at the moment.

10 Jul 2012 18:13:48
i'm writing this as a very concerned and confused liverpool fan, when BR joined us i was more than pleased as i had visions of us playing a more attractive style of football with 2 or 3 quality additions to push us into the top 4,now today the concerns are starting to kick in,now before u all start and say we're only 10 days into the transfer window,i know that but my concern is BR vision, loan out AC who was starting to show what a beast of a player he can be and replacing him with borini, now i know he had him on loan at swansea and swansea played some good football but to me they were to 1 dimensional, they never really had a plan b,yet with big andy upfront we could play the nice football similar to swansea coz the lad has got a decent touch on him and also we can lump it up to him as a plan b if we're not breaking teams down playing it on the floor,in my opinion we need an attacking right side player and another striker that would of done for me,i fear BR might try and change things too quick too soon.

Why are you taking what is said in the papers as fack they manipulate what is said to make a story so idiots will buy there papers! wait until it is confermed before judging him!

10 Jul 2012 18:10:00
hi ed any chance of signing kaka

Real Madrid want to sell Kaka, so there is a chance however are chances are slim! Unfortunately his age and wages could be a problem. It'd be great if it did happen though

10 Jul 2012 18:08:31
there is a rumour going around that Andy Carroll is going back to Newcastle on loan and Liverpool are going to take up the 7m release clause in Demba Ba contract. Also the exciting news that BR is talking about is the arrival of Kaka on loan and some young Brazilian called Bernard.

10 Jul 2012 18:08:31
There are rumours that the Ramirez deal is off. Ed's do you think we will sign him? {Ed002's Note - Please read the posts.}

10 Jul 2012 18:05:19
I think this lad Borini could be a great bit of business for us but Dempsey ? Surely he doesn't fit the bill. Wrong age-we already have experienced midfield players that are as good

So which one of our midfielders got 17 goals last season?

G.Higuain or A.Pato Eds? Any chance? This 'exciting' player must be a top player for BR to say fans will love him surely. We aren't going to love an average player are we!

Kop block 202 :D

Everyone seems to love Carroll and he's average at best...

10 Jul 2012 17:59:20
LFC have only signed two italians players in their history. Disenna and Aquillani. Both did poorly.
Borini is probably next in line? Your thoughts?

When we signed josemi and nunez we should have cut all ties with the spanish transfer market

It's Dossena, and it would be unwise to draw any comparisons.
Some of the best players in the premier league have been Italian - Zola, Di Canio, Di Matteo, even Balotelli has his quality moments.

We have a long list of Spanish and Southern American players who never made the grade, in fact failed quite drastically - Josemi, Leto, Gonzalez, Morientes, Pacheco ect - Does that stop or effect the infinite list of la liga players drafted on this site? No. Same applies.

10 Jul 2012 17:58:21
I agree with most that it would be a shame to see Andy Carroll shipped out, especially seeing how he seemed to have turned the corner by the end of the season. However, we all now subscribe to BR's passing philosophy.

Hand on heart, does anyone see AC fitting into BR's style of play? If he was a cert for 25-30 goals a season maybe, but he is essentially a battering ram striker who relies on crosses going into the box. What is the point in us sitting on a £25m asset like that if we just wont be using him?

The last thing BR wants is a striker who with his presence, encourages his teammates to default to the long ball too quickly, which is what happens (AC's fault or not). I can completely understand if BR wants to cash in asap, even if it means a £15m loss on the original purchase.

That £20m could be spent of a clever footballer like Iker Muniain or Gaston Ramirez, or go towards another striker.

Shame it hasnt worked out and I do feel a bit for the big man, but Im excited to see how the transfer policy and tiki-taka football plays out.

In Brendan we trust.

Red G

In Brenda we trust ? He hasn't won a game yet.
Pathetic.

Andy Carroll was not good enough last season upto the end of March, in my opinion from the Kop every other week. That said he did improve and would give him until January to prove himself.
Victor

10 Jul 2012 17:55:59
Why is everyone having a go at borini? He is a young, exciting talent who has great potential. You don't get into the Italian squad without having some ability and technique! Just lay off him guys and trust in our new manager! Sorry for the rant but I believe that people are writing BR and potential signings off too quickly!

10 Jul 2012 17:54:18
Hey Eds Could it be that the exciting signing this week could be Walcott ?

Walcott exciting please dont be silly,he is a headless chicken and if he was that exciting would wenger want rid.

10 Jul 2012 17:54:06
do you think dembsy worth 7 mill for his age could a deal be payed out with a loan of the like of suso or striling the other way to drop the price

and will this new mascot be at every single home game

Dembsy? It's Dempsey, and I think you will find at 29 he is at his prime. I think it's a steal at £7m. Very competent with the ball, fast and intricate, level headed and experienced, I am fully behind it.

That would be "in his prime" or "at his peak"

10 Jul 2012 17:53:49
Jon Jo just got new deal. Forget the lad is still only 20 and he does suits a passing style. Will be used more as DM cover for Lucas. Hendo will be used as cover for Gerrard. Wings we need options. Downing will be given another chance to prove his worth, alot of those in the game speak very highly of his ability and attitude. Lets hope BR can get him back to his best. Same with Cole although expect another winger or 2 to come in to add competition for the flanks. Borini to provide support to the front and will mature into a great player under BR. Lets get behind our manager, owners and the team and lets see what happens.

Youve obviously not seen jonjo play much, hes one of the most creative midfielders ive seen for his age, hes never seen defensive midfielder

10 Jul 2012 17:53:09

10 Jul 2012 17:40:31
I dont understand this whole business about an 'exciting' signing, it could not be borini encase rodgers means an exciting signing for the future, in my opinion an exciting signing would be a player like hazard to chelsea, kagawa to man u, not borini to liverpool, dempsey would be more exciting than him a proven striker weve seen through aqua man and dossena that most italians dont cut it in the prem coming from the italian league and find it hard to cope with the pace of the premier league. Gaston ramirez would be an exciting signing but it comes down to how rodgers meant by an exciting signing wether its an upcoming player or someone who will affect the first 11 YNWA

You just contradicted yourself there because Ramirez playes in the Italian league

10 Jul 2012 17:39:01
I'm a Liverpool fan. I have given my full support to this club, it's players(most of them) & it's managers. Those who doubt my loyalty to the club may drop it. I see similarities between Rodgers' appointment and the Ramirez situation. Rife speculation, lull, definitely not happening, new appointment in staff. Don't lose hope yet boys and girls!

Are we still interested in Marco Bueno? I hope we get him he could be good.

10 Jul 2012 17:34:36
This is based on purely 'gut feeling', and not an imaginary informant who happens to sit behind BR's in Melwood (blah blah blah!), but I think we'll sign Dempsey this week. Ever since Tom Werner mentioned his name personally a couple months back, was always optimistic he'd be at Anfield for next season. Excellent replacement for Kuyt; works hard, plays in numerous positions and capable of scoring goals in important games. America, F**K YEAH!!

10 Jul 2012 17:30:49
not a rumour but would just like to say how pleased i am for shelvey getting his new contract, i personally think he merits it.good on yer jonjo.kyb

10 Jul 2012 17:30:43
Carroll must stay

10 Jul 2012 17:28:45
To sell AC possibly after one season is ridiculous. It is not his fault that the players bought in to supply him with crosses etc never lived upto their standards. I think he will be a monster next season and hope we keep him.
Lee73

Not a knock on you Lee and I don't necessarily disagree, but I do wish perhaps Carroll had had this much support at the beginning of last season as he seems to be getting on here today.

Perhaps we could try to be as equally supportive of Borini if he comes rather than killing the kid before he's so much as thought to put a pen to the paperwork?

RDL

Griezmann and susaeta or narsigh would get big andy scoring.

Lil ed

RDL that is some sweet gospel there, very well put.

Hi eds....

I'm a little confused and would appreciate a little help ed002 is quite convinced that there isn't much interest in Ramirez ATM however ed022 is convinced that there is interest from lfc and could see him coming....

Cheers

Mo {Ed002's Note - And why is that confusing?}

Well, you say one thing and another Ed says another... simple really.

RichTheRed05. {Ed002's Note - So your issue is what? I recommend you trust in everthing Ed22 says and ignore anything I type.}

10 Jul 2012 17:25:38
Newcastle are pondering a £15mil bid for Andy Carroll. Liverpool willing to do business at around £20mil. Spurs are also interested in AC and see him as an alternative to the vastly overpaid Emanuel Adebayor. Expect 2 forwards to be signed in Fabio Borini and possibly Gonzalo Higuain if AC is sold. AC Milan have no chance of signing Andy Carroll. He doesn't want to go abroad and Liverpool are not happy with their handling of the Aquilani situation.
Cheers Red Fox

Agreed with and hope for.Untill you said about Adeybyour-he will be at Spurs imo

I don't hate Borini or Rodgers. But Rodgers tricked us. He's a liar. I don't remember Kenny or Roy or Rafa or Houllier lying about transfer targets like that. I'm sorry but there should be no place in Liverpool for liars like him.

SUMON VAI

What the hell are you talking about, how as he lied to us.

Sooty

Please stop posting your nonsense. Your dragging the website down

Tricked us? chill out man why the negative vibes.

Sumon Vai, you've been incredibly annoying for a while now. Eds, any chance of including an 'ignore posts by Sumon Vai' button on the page?

Can I ask what exactly he lied about? A journalist posted on twitter that Rodgers said off camera that the fans would be excited by one of the signings. It's a subjective comment but everyone thought that meant a big name. I don't understand where all this negativity as come from. No deal as even been done yet and even if it is borini and Dempsey then it's your opinion not to find that exciting I personally would welcome both players. Some fans are ignorant to dismiss a player because they've never heard of him or he hasn't come from a top team borini is 21 and already as a decent goal scoring record, please get a grip and support the team

Why has rogers tricked us,,are you on something

I got this for ya ed`s!!!

10 Jul 2012 17:13:54
United fan here in peace, just wondering what you all think about this Carroll loan saga? To be honest I thought he finished the season well and played well at the Euros too. Loaning him out probably won't solve anything, I think its a bit disrespectful from the manager to be honest, either sell him or keep him and let him do the job he does best. What do you lot think, would you rather keep him and play him or sell him? Probably for around £12-17 mill?

For me, it's a tough one. I think the lad could be a world beater, but much depends on his attitude and desire to be so. I've always gotten the impression that he's a bit lazy in training and basically he is his own worst enemy. Someone like him with the attitude of say Spearing or Henderson would be a definite star.

So, I guess if I were in BR's shoes, it would depend on what his attitude is going forward and, if it's not what you want to see, how much you could get for him. Pretty sure it'd have to be something in the £20+ range for the owners to consider it and right now I don't see any takers at that level, but that could change I suppose.

A loan to me makes no sense as the only other strikers we have at the moment are Suarez, Bellamy, and Pacheco and none of those are really what I would personally consider strikers anyway. If we were to get a very strong striker first, then perhaps a loan a makes sense, but I don't see the owners buying a strong enough striker to be first choice without first selling Andy, so a bit of a chicken and egg scenario.

All my opinion, of course, others will likely disagree.

RDL

No rumours or questions, just a statement of support for the great job the EDs do on here. Ed02, please dont think the keyboard warrior trolls are representative of the majority of LFC fans. I have no doubt that the amount of hate the Eds are getting is sickening, but the rest of us are right behind you and the great work you do.

People do realise that that this quote:

"Hopefully we can close out one deal this week which will be a real exciting one for the club -- one the supporters will absolutely love."

is in fact from a journalist... Apparently this journalist over-heard Brendan Rodgers say this at yesterdays press conference!!

I dont expect any major £20m signings or anything close to that number, the way the club wants dealings done is the moneyball way, players with good stats with a cheap price tag...

Rocky

I heard him say it at the press conference yesterday, what's your problem?

Sooty

The host on lfc tv last night talking to didi and jan also said that BR said the fans would be excited by 1 of the transfers.... but when i was watching the press conference im sure i never heard that? maybe it was said off air? guess we will just have to wait and see....

reprting that Draxler & Holtby are targets. Any thoughts Eds?

SA Red {Ed002's Note - For whom?}

It stems from twitter Ed. Some journalist (With the apparent inability to spell) said what do LFC fans think of them. It's no doubt bulls**t.

10 Jul 2012 17:04:02
Sorry to be a doubter but I don't believe this Borini speculation one bit, it seemed to start on t**tter when a few people realised he played under BR then hyped so much. Also I feel that people have read to much into the pre tour of America press conference, now everyone thinks Carroll is off, think this also started the Borini hype when people started looking at the players we have been linked with so far. It's all rumours to Liverpool FC say otherwise. I personally think the two transfer targets might of not even been mentioned yet. BR knows what he wants and I feel he will get the kind of players that will fit and make an impact. I personally think we as a club will be looking at a striker (with Kuyt leaving), a winger and cover for left back. I don't know if the ED's will agree but after spending a bit of time looking at what we have and what needs improving in my opinion thats were we stand, BR might think totally different only time will tell.

JD

It has been confirmed by Roma. You can choose not to believe it, like you can choose not to believe that Torres has left, but in reality both are the truth.

10 Jul 2012 17:03:13
Hello Ed's first off you guys do a wonderful job thank you for this website, its the only place i go to for transfer info. Personally I have watched Fabio Borini on a handful of occasions but if you could please enlighten me with what Rodgers sees in this kid. I might be missing something. I just feel like we could do so much better on the striker department.
Thank you {Ed002's Note - BR has worked with him at Chelsea and Swansea. No doubt if Borino saw these pages he would be put off moving to Liverpool.}

10 Jul 2012 17:02:52
Do you recon the signing 'fans will love' be borini? If so I'll be very disappointed!

10 Jul 2012 16:58:52
hey eds/macca, is there any credibility in the Xabi rumours? Also hypothetically if Carroll were to be sold what kind of figure would it be? Thanks, would really appreciate a response.

I doubt liverpool will accept under 20 million

To me, his value is probably somewhere between £15-20M but I think the owners would probably want £20M+, so I think it's unlikely he goes anywhere (although possible if someone out there really wanted him).

A loan doesn't make much sense to me at the moment since we're not exactly flush with strikers. If that changes, then perhaps...

RDL

But would they accept an offer of £19,999,999?

10 Jul 2012 16:58:45
Just a wee note to all reds! this is my first post on this site and i read it every day for months but i for one have to say while arsenal, chelsea, united, man city all sign great talents we are chasing Borini! im disgusted in mediocre talent from a very slow playing league where i have saw him play many times on internet! BR i have met before and i ask u please give us something to believe in! pleaseeeee

If this is what your future posts are going to be like, Dont bother posting any more!
John Wigan

10 Jul 2012 16:56:52
surely players like cavani and hamsik would be willing to do what meireles did and play premier league football at a big club but with no CL for a season then earn himself a move to a bigger club like chelsea or city as opposed to playing europa league and serie a for napoli for the next 5 years where it isn't as easy to showcase your talents to top english clubs

10 Jul 2012 16:54:55
Why are people getting so worked up about this signing, some are disgusted that its only borini or dempsey etc and others are 100% sure its xabi, kaka or higuian, its not like BR even said it in the press confrence, it from a bbc reporter for god sake, would BR really say that off camera to some random journo, i will just wait and see to be honest so everyone just chill out

10 Jul 2012 16:48:03
Wish everyone would give it a rest with the exciting signing. There is no concrete proof Rodgers even said this. Even if Rodgers did say this, a player doesn't have to be of the calibre of Higuain, Alonso and so on to be exciting. A young player who is highly thought of (Borini for instance) could be considered equally, if not more exciting, by the more realistic of us.

I'm sure all the fans expecting the likes of Higuain, Alonso and Cavani will disagree but they are entitled to their own opinions no matter how deluded and unrealistic they may be.

KingHeskey

There is audio of him mentioning the exciting signing

Exciting is subjective.Borini may be just that in Brendans view if not ours at mo

10 Jul 2012 16:47:41
BREAKING NEWS" everyone the wait is over the"exciting and fans will love him signing is here" its shelvey ZZZzzz

10 Jul 2012 16:46:07
I heard we are linked with Kaka! That would be an exciting signing; if Borini is to be an exciting signing I'm not going to be very happy! Would support the team all the way regardless! YNWA all...

10 Jul 2012 16:44:51
Borini, Dempsey and Allen appear to be the most likely to sign for Liverpool, from all the players that have been linked with us. Dempsey would be an older yet decent alternative to Siggy and I look forward very much to welcoming Allen. I think he will be class. Borini? I hope he proves me wrong and becomes an anfield hero. Time will tell with all these signings and obv nothing is confirmed. However, I would love Susaeta, Ramirez or Muniain in addition to the previous 3. Greedy? Maybe......

Thanks

Kam

10 Jul 2012 16:53:27
in a dream world we would sign dempsey borini allen and jovetic

No, in a dream world we would sign messi, ronaldo, aguero and iniesta.

10 Jul 2012 16:48:45
regarding the potential signing of borini

i think its a smart move really , he s a good yung striker who wont expect to be an automatic starter

if we signed someone like higuaIN we d have carroll higuain and suarez all expecting to start up frpont and one of their big egos likely carroll would be upset on the bench. getting a younger striker in who wont expect to start every game is a smart move from rodgers

p.s. i dont think borini is the exciting signing, i think he will start as carrolls understudy in the lone striker role with carroll likely to be shipped out come january if he doesnt perform
i believe the wow signing will come as one of the wider forwards like suarez wwho will play either side of carroll or borini depending who starts or one that can play as an attacking midfielder /wide forward ie gaston ramirez, someone of this ilk

Borini is 21; at that age he should be in the side and doing his stuff, don't think he's being bought to sit on the bench
watching Carroll falling over.

Roma's Confirmation of interest from Liverpool

10 Jul 2012 16:36:05
Banter page please Eds, thanks.

I know none of us or the media really know what's going on regarding transfers but reading between the lines this is what I believe could be going on.
The 3 or 4 enquiries that Rodgers refers to for me could well be Gaston Ramirez, Clint Dempsey, Fabio Borini and Joe Allen.
The Joe Allen issue could be tricky with this apparent gentlemans agreement with Swansea but I think Rodgers wants him at Liverpool but it would need a bid to come in from elsewhere or for Allen to put in a transfer request for any deal to go ahead and thats why I think he says 3 or 4 instead of just saying 4.
Gaston Ramirez for me is still a target and some form of negotiations may have occured when the Uruguay players were at Melwood, I also think Suarez and Coates may have put a stamp of reccomandation on him at the club that's why he was a target for Dalglish and Imo still is with Rodgers regardless of reports in the last day or two that we're not interested, these could have been put out there to reduce the urgency of any other club stepping in and doing it behind closed doors, so to speak. I believe Ramirez maybe the 'exciting player who the fans will love' and a deal maybe done before the Olympics.
Fabio Borini is still young and maybe brought in as a boost to the squad as we were short on strikers last season but I think only for the right price. Andy Carroll Imo won't be going anywhere and in Carroll, Borini, Suarez and Bellamy we'd have four strikers who all offer something a little bit different.
Clint Dempsey I think will be signed, ok he's not a puppy in football terms but he did score 23 goals for Fulham last season, keeps himself fit and can play in a few positions. He would also have the obvious added boost to the American market thing that comes with him.
I also think younger players will be given a chance and I wouldn't be shocked to see Suso heavily involved next season. I also think Sterling will get a few more games, as may Coady, Adjoran, Teixeira, Sama and Wisdom. As well as Flanagan and Robinson. Martin Kelly and Coates will be used I think a lot in Europe and Cup competitions. Shelvey has just signed a new contract. Younger players maybe given a chance in cup games etc esspecially with the Europa League involvement this season aswell.
I think Aquilani will go, as may Maxi, Kuyt already gone. I think Bellamy may stay for one more year. Joe Cole I think will stay but may get used a lot more in Europe compared to the league. Jay Spearing may stay but will only really be used in cup competitions. Adam may go but also may stay but only as a squad player.
Henderson won't play as much as he did last season but will be used as will Downing, both of which I think will be much improved than from last season.
Like I said we don't really know just putting down what I think. There could even be four complete shock signings that no-one knew about!! I'm sure we will soon see.

Does Liverpool Fútbol Club in Montevideo have a training ground called Melwood ?

1st time post..... I hope that Rodgers " new exciting signing " is not borini...... Please tell me this isn't what our club has come too! Exciting? What a joke! I'd be more excited about getting a couple of new pairs of socks for Xmas....please tell me there are better players that we are going for? Keep up the good work eds.....

From a very worried Liverpool fan.......

10 Jul 2012 16:05:01
I've got a feeling that our suprize signing will be Mr Z Ibrahimovic, with AC going on loan in Milan.

10 Jul 2012 16:02:55
IN

Dempsey
Borini
Ramirez
A.Johnson

OUT

Aquilani
Adam
Shelvey on loan
Spearing on loan

Shelvey had to re-new his contract before he was allowed out on loan

10 Jul 2012 16:29:16
Give Rodgers time and have patience. He's signing players to fit into a system and a way of playing not just signing players without knowing the best way to utilise them (Carroll, Downing, Henderson, Adam). As much as I love the king he never really knew how he wanted to play; pass to feet or cross it for the big man. Choose the system first then select the targets not visa versa. AK47

So you think playing like barca with small light weight players will work in the prem because I don't barca against stoke think about it arsenal use to struggle against be hard sides and they had 11 top class players. What chance do we have with moderate players lucky to be in top ten at end of season .cheers psv

So what do you Have to say about swansea this year psv?

10 Jul 2012 16:27:08
Afternoon eds fellow reds ,Well is ever lfc fan excited by the signing jonjo Shelvey ,and the prospect of big andy leaving and us getting boroni, because I'm not I am already questioning Rodgers Carroll was are best player in the last month of last season would be huge mistake .cheers psv

So he's made a huge mistake by signing a player he hasn't signed yet, and for loaning out Andy Carroll which he hasn't done either... Yea i'm seriously doubting Rodgers myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

He hasn't even played a game yet, he's gonna implement a playing style that will work once the players adapt to that system and work hard in training and listen to the manager. To me if he signs a player we've never heard of but he knows how they play then i'll trust him over any judgement i have or anyone else has on a player. I have no doubt he's the right manager to take us forward and get us back into the top 4. People with the wrong attitude as much as they are allowed have their opinion have to at least give a manager a chance instead of these ridiculous comments less than a month into a managers job before a ball has even been kicked. Kop on people.

Rocky

Get a grip mate. If you aren't gonna support the club go and search for glory at city or Chelsea. I hear they are the current favoured destination for glory hunters! For starters, nothing has suggested carroll will go except people's interpretation of a quote. Secondly, whilst Shelvey is along way from the finished article surely it makes perfect sense to tie young prospects into longer contracts. Let's hope the likes of Sterling and Suso are next (if this is even possible at their age). Actually, you probably don't know much about these lads, they don't often appear on many versions of Championship Manager!
Andy

Alright mate I follow the kids every game mate so I know what quality we have ,my point is we have the same team as kenny last season at the moment and I don't believe rodgers will do that much better than kenny did with them .the bottom line is some of those players arent good enough .would shelvey spear walk in to utd city chelsea

We simply don't have the money of any of the 3 you mentioned, so it stands to reason we're unlikely to have the same individual caliber of player. Instead, I think BR is trying to build a team that works well as a unit and perhaps punches a bit above it's collective weight.

10 Jul 2012 16:25:59
Happy to see Jonjo has had his contract extended, good sign.He has abviously impressed BR in the short time.
Future captain of the club with the correct development.
Internationally can choose as well (except for wales).
Reminds me so much of Mcmahon in his play.
Piddy.

Ozil would be an absolute dream to have, it's extremely unlikely however.

10 Jul 2012 16:16:22
I wouldn't consider myself an unrealistic fan but i would love these guys for our needed positions
Rw: Suseta
ST: Borini
CAM: Gaston Ramirez
Whether they will move is another question but i think they are viable options if we pushed for them

10 Jul 2012 15:56:08
hi eds not really liverpool related but if Walcott likely to leave and where could he go if so? would he consider liverpool

10 Jul 2012 15:53:50
great news rodgers has tied up a deal with shelvey think he gonna be a good player for us in the near future

10 Jul 2012 15:52:09
Hey eds and reds long time reader but don't post a lot. Not a rumor but speculation. Do you guys think a bit of the motivating factor behind borini is to help settle alberto? Similar to the uruguayan connection we are establishing?

Also, I'm wondering what the chances of the "exciting signing" being mr gareth bale. Spuds said he could go for the right price. Maybe its their attempt to gentlemanly invite other suitors to outbid us?

Please post in rumours!

Diagne {Ed002's Note - Borini is not being looked at to buddy up with Aquilani.}

10 Jul 2012 15:51:49
To all fans disappointed by the potential Borini signing, remember that Rodgers has worked with him before, so both player and manager understand one another which will help him settle in quicker and give him more of a chance of being successful. My main point however is of all signings we've made over the years how many relatively unknown players have come here and become world class players in a few seasons. The biggest example is Xabi Alonso who was not a big name in European football but after a few seasons he became one of our best players and moved onto one of the world's best clubs. So have a little faith and get behind
the team and manager regardless of signings.

Hans

Alonso already had a very good reputation in spain and was being watched by real madrid before Rafa signed

Alonso may have had a good reputation but was far from the finished article, Liverpool helped turned him into the player he is today

Hans

No he was not the finished article but he was well ahead of where the lad Borini is at this moment in time although if the manager has faith in Borini then i think we should too

10 Jul 2012 15:51:23
3 rumours.

1) Re: Andy Carroll
Carroll is not going anywhere. Rodgers feels he needs a kick up the backside. Carroll has never been a good trainer (even Reina admitted he was the worst trainer he had come across) and Rodgers needs him to train intensively. As long as he puts in the effort over pre-season he will not leave

2) Re: Fabio Borini
We want him because he can play as a lone striker, with Suarez, with Carroll or both. He is an intelligent striker and moves into goalscoring positions

3) Re: Exciting signing
Rodgers step 1: Get the side playing pass and move. Hence he has identified signing players who know the system well: Allen, Sig, Borini. But the number of players he has worked with are limited. So now he is looking at players who play in similar systems at other clubs. They also need to be young, on a low wage and with a desire to come to Liverpool. I believe he is targetting Bielsa's Basque prodigy, Iker Muniain.

Good passer, good work ethic, young, plays in a position we are looking to improve and most importantly, huge potential

10 Jul 2012 15:48:27
Really hope the 'exciting' signing is Jovetic. Is it likely?

Jovetic would be the only player we have been linked with that would excite the fans at this present time.I do feel Borini could well prove to be a Fowler type player and if that was true he would deffo excite the fans.We really did make a lot of chances last season only to fail to put them away.Borini could be anything,I Think he will be a massive hit to be honest in Brendan we trust.

10 Jul 2012 15:46:54
have to say good to see more positive news as shelvey got a new deal. he is a definite prospect. i didn't have the greatesr first season but of course that is due to the enormous jump from league 1 football to the premiership, which is all the more monumental when you are a youngster. however once he settled down he showed great progress, i think his loan spell at blackpool helped alot with that. he got a lot of games towards the end of the year and capped it off with a good strike against chelsea. trust me, him and hendo are definitely going to have a huge part to plaay in this club. good luck boys.

Hi eds any chance of Giampalo Pazzini from Inter? Proven goal scorer and are leaving Inter for a good price please answer / Robin sweden {Ed002's Note - THere is no known interest from Liverpool.}

10 Jul 2012 15:43:13
Hi Eds & Reds,

I was just wondering Eds, do you think Danny Wilson will get more game time next season as back up for Enrique? As well as that, do you think one or both of Jones/Doni will leave. Just think Pep needs stiffer competition to keep him on his toes

Finally, just want to get your view on something, if Coates is to get more game time next season. do you think Agger could be used in Lucas's role if needed, i think the role would quite suit him.

R_R {Ed002's Note - Wilson is primarily a centre back and Robinson really covers for Enrique. I would doubt that Agger would be used in midfield.}

10 Jul 2012 15:41:10
the alonso rumours must be false, i don't see where he would fit into rodger's pass and move philosophy

Dumbest thing ive ever read,,,alonso not fit into pass and move, youdo realise hes a regular starter for spain

Are you mad he is the system do you not watch spain or something

Alonso is possibly the best passer of a football the would has ever seen. Numpty

Love it! Eds.... do you have an archive marked as "dumbest posts ever"? We have a contender!!

Red G

PS..... Great reading on here today by the way. Iker Muniain is my wildcard bet for "exciting" signing!

10 Jul 2012 15:38:24
So this is the so called exciting player. Ha? Wish I could just strangle Rodgers. Fabio Borini an incredibly exciting player? Is this some sort of a joke? He's pathetic. Why lie & give false hope to the supporters when the only players you're looking at are crap. I know we can never desire players like Messi. The supporters braced themselves for a quiet summer & then suddenly the manager talks about buying an exciting player only to buy a crap joke? Why did Rodgers play this stupid little joke? Why did you talk about an incredibly exciting player, you liar? I don't think any manager had given us false hope before. Shame on you, LIAR RODGERS.

SUMON VAI

What makes you think this is the 'exciting player' - he said he hopes to get 1, maybe 2 in by the end of the week.

Patience is a virtue.

Hans

Shut up and stop sulking and maybe support your team!

What a completely ridiculous post!! Rodgers has not said anything of an exciting player publicly ! A journalist from the bbc decided to tweet that he had spoken to Rodgers of camera and this is what he said. He may as well of tweeted that Rodgers could see the second coming and the world was about to end! Wind your neck in cos if there is any strangling to be done I'm sure there will be a queue to get there hands on yours!!

Mike

Should he be signing players like; Veron, Shevchenko, Forlan, Kewell, Bentley, Poborsky, Kezman, Alves, Rebrov... the list goes on. All big names, they did well didn't they?
AK 47

You're an absolute disgrace. Please go and support City. I haven't heard anyone say a bad word about Rodgers yet, apart from viewing this. Rodgers said he is going to bring in 3 or 4 players, and he said one of them will be exciting. Please don't listen to the press, has Borini joined our club? did Brendan say Borini is our exciting signing? If you looked across the web over the months you'll realise that we have been linked with hundreds of different players, the press are guessing because we don't leak any information out of our club now ... Please, don't post s**te like this again, you make fellow LFC supporters who actually are patient and back the manager and team rather embarrased.

TheReliableRed

Sort yourself out lad What are you expecting! Did you ever stop and think that the player might bring excitement ON THE PITCH, not just a big name off it. Borini is a top player and i for one welcome the lad
FowlerisGod

I don't know. It's never happened to me before. I never slated any Liverpool player before but I just can't stand Carroll. He's so disgusting. I hate him. Don't know why. His horrible form has made me angrier than before. He's rubbish. He'll never succeed in Liverpool I GUARANTEE you that.

SUMON VAI

_____________________________________________

So after saying this utter garbage about Carroll and then claim that he is the only Liverpool player you have ever slated, you have now done it to someone who hasn't even signed and to the manager.

Now you tell me, who is the liar?

JRG

Restraining from an abusive answer... will failing...

Drigan

I think this post is a bit harsh. However, I do feel that the statement should have never of been said by Rogers.

Its like telling your missus you bought her a present, saying to her "you will love it, taking her to a posh gourmet restaurant and giving her a box of milk tray. Of course, she is going to be expecting a diamond ring.

I find it frustrating that we've gone from Torres to Carroll to him, who next? Alan Smith?

Anyway, let's just wait and see who signs. Hopefully, if its borini, BR will turn him into a goal machine.

A very exited (sigh)
Tizer red

Does anyone know who Sumon Vai supports? Don't know why he's on an LFC page.

He not a red, but he wound everyone up, me included. Fair doos you irritating little shoebox
FowlerisGod

Do you know anything? Convince me. Players like Barnes, Aldo, Rush, Hansen to name a few were unproven in the league, now they're part of Liverpool folklore. If, only if, Borini is signed it's because Rodgers knows how to use him to improve the team. Man, Rodgers hasn't even had his first game yet with the team and you're writing him off already. Learn to have more faith in your team mate.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

10 Jul 2012 15:35:22
I think Agger will be on his way to Madrid. Coates will play in his place. Then due to us allowing Agger to Madrid we will get Alonso from Madrid leaving a Alonso, Lucas and Gerrard midfield. Just my personal thought but sounds packed with creative attatcking tallent

The mersey runs red !

10 Jul 2012 15:34:12
Put the pieces together.

Rodgers said "Hopefully we can bring in 1 maybe 2 players in this week". He later went on to say on 5live "That the player will be exciting and fans will love him".

Someguy on here (cant remeber his name) keeps on saying we will be signing a brazilian.

Yesterday in the press conference Rodgers mentioned Pato as a player of "Quality". AC Milan are interested in Carroll so maybe a deal involving Pato and Carroll is on the cards and it seems to fit.

I might be totally wrong but thats my interepretation of events and i for one certainly deem Pato as an "Excting Player".

He spends more time injured than on the pitch

10 Jul 2012 15:33:15
Interest for Fabio Borini has been CONFIRMED by AS Roma. sly has noted this and stories are on Liverpool's Official Website. Surely the price can be little more than £8 Million. Eds what do you think about possible price?
South African Red
{Ed002's Note - It will certainly be more than £8M.]

10 Jul 2012 15:32:35
It seems like Borini is the most likely signing so far, or at least the first player revealed to which we have definite interest.

But, I remember Rodger's talking about an exciting signing and as i think about it more and more I begin to highly doubt whether Borini is that signing.

Reason being, because Rodger's made it sound like the player was close to signing while Roma while admitting interest did not say a figure had been arranged between the two.

This makes me think that Borini is just one of the supposed 4 players we have enquired about, if Rodger's press conference is to be believed.

my question is whether you are aware of this exciting player. Is it perhaps Ramirez, Dempsey (Please, no) or perhaps some player we weren't even aware of being interested in?

I have full faith in Rodger's as I believe that eventually, and not immediately like some deluded fans are thinking, he will bring us back into the champions league and battling it out for titles, like the team are used to.

However, patience is a virtue and there is no immediate fix or infinite amount of money that will be bring us back to the pinnacle we were once at. So let's support the lads, believe in their abilities and not bicker and whine like a bunch of spoiled children.

btw E.D's any news on Munain or Susaeta? i really like the look of the former and would be overjoyed if he joined us

LFC'S MANGO {Ed002's Note - There is no news about either joining Liverpool.}

10 Jul 2012 15:31:09
I reall dont rate this borini guy, but if we do get him maybe rodgers can work his magic and turn him into a 20 golas a seaon striker. But latest i am hearing is that a deal for walcott is being done

10 Jul 2012 15:30:29
if juve dont get van persie they will go for suarez which will cost them 30 million, we will bid 15 million for antonio cassano from ac milan and the other half of the money will go to fc twente 22 year old nacer chadli

10 Jul 2012 15:25:53
Why does everyone assume Borini would replace Carrol? We lost Kuyt early this summer and haven't replaced him yet. If Carrol were sold, he'd need to be replaced as well. Aren't these separate matters?

10 Jul 2012 15:25:07
So Rodgers takes over and the two things he does 1st is praise Spearing and gives Shelvey a new contract, 2 of the worst players at our club. Not even championship quality.

But not to worry, We're about to sign Chelsea and Swansea reject Fabio Borini.

Our club is getting worse. Rodgers is a disaster

Rodgers is a disaster? Based on what? Go get your home work done, I'm sure it's due in the morning Ms Fickle

So shelvey isn't championship quality.

6 goals in 10 games from midfield and a hatrick agains leeds ,while being praised by holloway. Still think he isn't championship quality.

Cant seriously believe we may consider loaning big andy to milan after aqualani fiasco tell me its not true

10 Jul 2012 15:17:18
As I previously mentioned, Clint Dempsey is close to signing, looks like before the US tour takes place. One thing that's been forgotten during this is that he is arguably the most marketable US player in the premiership, something FSG are happy to make concessions over regarding the age policy. 7.8m quid. I think that's a bargain.

10 Jul 2012 15:22:59
hi eds just wanted your opinion if we are keen on borini
do you think aquailani could go in the other direction {Ed002's Note -It would suit Liverpool if he did.}

10 Jul 2012 15:21:24
Question for Macca / Eds...

with Macca stating his belief that the plan is four in and four out, (I know no-one can be 100% sure) but do you believe that his may include those who have already left? (Kuyt / Aurelio etc.)..(not even counting the likes of Poulsen). I would expect Aquilani to be one, there are a fair few to choose from who could be the others.

El Diablo!

There has yet again been sickening amounts of abuse today - if you think that does anything to enhance the reputation of the Liverpool supporters perhaps we should just let it be a free for all and publish it. You have no idea at all what comes through - but somehow feel a dig at me is appropriate. Why not take a shot at those who so nicely refer to the players as "deadwood", those wanting Rodgers out, those already abusing Borini, those demanding the owners leave.}

Com'on lads if you fellow reds leave ed002 alone and any other ed for tht matter.they do there best for us all! bringing sumit up from ages ago to try and get 1 over on the eds is pure childish, instead of making a pleb out of urself have some respect

Ed said the players are on holiday, which they were.

I'd be suprised if D-Tox could count to 10.

Ed, surely all football clubs have their morans? LFC don't have a particularly moranic bunch of supporters. Remember the couple hundred Chelsea supporters booing the minutes silence for our 96 and the poor lad in the Italian league? Still waiting for CFC to do something, like LFC did over the individual acts of racism during the carling cup {Ed002's Note - Chelsea apologised for the bahavour of the fans I am not sure why having a go at Chelsea is appropriate here. By some light years the most abuse is on the Liverpool pages - and I appreciate that there is the most posting done on the same pages. The extent of the abuse is truly, truly foul and there is no excuse for it at all.}

Haha aw mate you just mugged your self off so bad! I dot even understand why you would try it? Ed02 is on here most of the time and most of the time gets it spot on if you don't like it just get off the site!

Hi eds great work keep it up

Just a quick speculation but are we after an attacking midfielder and had a request turned down by real Madrid now correct me if I'm wrong but didn't mourinho come out the other week and say that ozil was a great player but not his type of player does that maybe say he wants to get rid and that Liverpool might be putting a cheeky bid in a bit far fetched I know but not impossible what do u think eds ? {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath about Oezil moving to Liverpool.}

10 Jul 2012 15:18:01
hi eds,BR said himself that we had made enquiries on 3-4 players and one of which was close to signing this week.i honestly don't believe Borini will be our first siging but i yes it is true we have enquired about the player. The roma president as came out to say as much but could this be a case of trying to drive his transfer fee up and create interest from other clubs.I do agree with you that i do expect the first signing to be a big money signing and that negoiations are much further down the line than were we are up to with our interest in Borini.I have no idea who it could be,there are so many names being bounded about, perhaps we could get a little sweep stake going!! mini scouse

10 Jul 2012 15:13:52
Hi All.
A question for the (EDs) Do you honestly think Borini is the Exciting player expected to sign this week? I am only asking your opinion and not trying to put you on the spot. If He is that signing ,then I'll accept it and won't speculate any more, sending myself the blaady twist.
Thanks( EDs) Top Dude's lar

Just been reading ed22 profile on gaston r . He says if he is brought in then suarez will probly leave cos of the sponsers. Now tell me if im wrong but when br said he is going nowhere and wants him to sign a new contract then surley the owners aint worried losing sponsers. I say that in away that sponsers have said to them that if it happens again (meaning the racist drama or anything that else that could course bad image) they would have to seriously think about sponsering lfc. Br speaks the truth. Like with big andy about considering letting him go out on loan. In my eyes he would of said that mayb suarez might not be here next season. But said the opposite which all us fans wanted to hear. Your thoughts eds and lfc fans

Gezza1982
{Ed022's Note - I stick by my comments.}

FSG want Suarez gone after the Evra incident. Too much bad publicity and nearly cost us millions in sponsors.

If so why has br come out and said his staying and another contract is here if he wants one. So stop living in the past and go by what has been said lately. Im sure if the owners wanted him gone br wouldnt of said what he did

10 Jul 2012 15:10:57
Bredan Rodgers said yesterday he wants to close a deal by the end of the week, and the Fabio Borini deal doesn't seem to far forward, nor does the apparent intrest in Dempsey. Could this mean that the player could be someone out of the blue eds?

Interesting how many people are up in arms at the prospect of Carroll leaving, flashback 18 months and throughout most of last season when people where up in arms he signed in the first place and slating him after every game.

He started to play well end of season, wasn't this inevitable, not every player hits the ground running, people need perspective and patience, and should apply the same logic to players when they sign, instead of berating them before they sign.

Do we just love to moan? What is it? Give the manager and the player the benefit of supporting them and see what happens.

Not happy about Borini...if he was good enough, surely roma would want to keep him rather than lookin to buy somebody else! Come on BR you can do better than this.

And why sell him to raise funds for another 21 year old striker, Mattia Destro?

Like Athletico not wanting to keep Torres or Ajax not wanting Suarez.....!!
What a ridiculous statement.

10 Jul 2012 15:01:27
Hello all

Not really worried to be honest that we havent signed anyone yet, and with Gylfi like lets be honest with ourselves he was playing for Coventry & Hoffenheim bought him and he wasnt getting his game there so no real loss!

I cant see us sending Carroll out on loan, it would be a bad move by us. Especially when we need the players up front, we only really have him and Suarez and with Luis playing in the Olympics he will more than likely miss the start of the season to give him a rest

I see us linked with Borini, never seen him play so not sure about that one. I wouldnt like to see Allen come in as we have enough CM. I think we should focus on buying two wingers and a striker. We have lost Kuyt, with Maxi looking like a defo to leave & Bellamy is a maybe. Id like to see us go for Hoillett & Moses, and maybe try get Higuain on loan

Barry B

10 Jul 2012 15:01:05
Is there any other stupid who think that it is fair that we sold kuyt for just 1 million?!

Yes but you are forgetting despite our "buy young with resale value" policy we actually pay stupid money for average players and then we cant give them away

Still can't believe it.
He was worth a lot more.
I will never truly understand transfer prices, as they just defy all logic.
Nuff said.

FSG will sell a lot of key players just watch. They aint got no money

It was in his contract, that he could move for 1 million in his last year of said contract.
i think thats right?
fsg has money by the way, they`re just careful with it, unlike oil sheiks or russian billionaires..

10 Jul 2012 15:00:14
Ed002, you said we would think about getting rid of Carroll if an acceptable offer came in...
What do you personally think is the lowest end of acceptable we would take? {Ed002's Note - I am not going to try and put a number on it but I would suspect that the club would be willing to cut their losses to move on. SO they will not be expecting £35M plus.}

To all to whom are concerned about the possible signing of borini, I watched him play a few times whilst at Swansea when they were in the Championship, and i can tell you he's one special player, quick and dynamic and an eye for goal, yes you say it's the Championship, but this guy took a lot of hits from those big clumsy defenders and he just kept going and going, overall he's a very good finisher which i believe we really need at our club and to whom i will support thru out if he doe's come to us.

Best

Jonboy

10 Jul 2012 14:52:35
Hi Eds, opinion please..?
BR has impressed me in his interviews to date and his apparent desire to do well at the club, however, his reference to a player who will excite the fans seems a little bit of a silly remark to make. This could be made all the worse if the player he was referring to was Borini. This is a 21 year old kid who has scored 9 goals in the second half of last season, was a Chelsea reserve, and scored half a dozen goals in the Championship. All this suggests that he has potential, but surely he cant have been referring to him as this player to "excite" the fans..??!
The only way i can justify the comment is if he has genuinely got an ace player up his sleeve - but for the life of me I cannot figure out who that may be..
,,what do you think Eds? {Ed002's Note - You really need to read the other posts.}

10 Jul 2012 14:49:34
Ed's just got on here for the day, and I am struggling to get on to other web sites (this ones all ways good for me by the way) but from what I'm hearing the rumour is we are getting rid of Andy and getting Borini and Dempsey in ?
Am I also right in the belief that it doesn't seems to popular on here? or having seen a lot more posts yourself would you say I have come to the wrong conclusion?
RNred {Ed002's Note - Pretty much spot on.}

We bemoaned the lack of goals last year. Yet a fellow poster who has watched Borini intently (have you?) says the boy has an eye for goal & finishes well. Then there is Dempsey who had a decent EPL goal haul last year ... Combined, is this not what we want?

dd

10 Jul 2012 14:47:52
I just watched the videos of Borini on youtube, yea i know thats no reliable view on a player but hey he looks like a player that moves around in the box and goes deep just like some kid called El Nino did, that worked out kinda ok didnt it?

You guys must have seen alot of games with the kid to say he's not pool standard? Care to explain why he aint a good buy? I'm not saying he is just want oppinions.

Torres was different class and he did so much more than borini does, and he was also the captain of athletico madrid at 19... he was capable of scoring from anywhere and he can beat a man. Borini is a good finisher and thats about it he is a very, very average player.

I personally think all the names named on here and in the papers are wrong! There will be a surprise no borini Alonso kaka ozil. Jevotic. So on. Just wait and see guys end of the week and I think we will all be happy with the new sighnings and players out.

Remarkable! There is now a huge outcry from most about the prospect of AC going on loan or being sold. You couldn't move on this forum for people wanting him gone in feb, march of this year. Fickle beyond belief but I suppose that's why we all love football ;-)

Mike

We all said that about lucas but would u want him gone now no! same goes for andy hes had to adjust and the last three months and the euros he looks the real deal so why let some other team get a star and we get borini thats the point just hope rogers realises this before its to late were liverpool not swansea different class so maybe borrini would be exciting for them nut not us!

10 Jul 2012 14:40:48
It has been quoted 15M for Borini, too much... way to much

No chance, not for that price. Roma will want more because they have just paid out nearly 4 million for him and want money to buy a replacement. For that kind of money or less I'd rather go for Daniel Sturridge, Jose Callejon, our friend Luuk De Jong or add a bit more on the 15 and go all out for Jovetic!
Its far too much for Borini! He's an ok player who tries hard and in the right circumstance could bag quite a few goals. I'm still not 100% convinced that we're genuinly after him anyway.
I still think that there maybe one or two genuin surprises.

10 Jul 2012 14:34:37
dont mean to be funni but BR has no expertise in buying players. Why let him loose with our money. shouldn't DoF spend on players

We don't have a DoF and Brendan won't work under one. Hence he's in charge or transfers.

Ed's/Macca? where do people have this "exiting signing" from? has Rodgers saif that we will sign someone exiting? people seem to think we will sign a world class player, which will not happen. or am i wrong?

Daniel91

BR stated yesterday he is close to a signing that would excite the fans mate, that's why everyone is speculating who it could be

Mark the Selby Red

Too much emphasis on that word 'exciting', stop stalking the man. If he knew how much the word was being analyzed, he never speak again.

10 Jul 2012 14:30:45
I'm not claiming to be in the know but basically we can summarise that Borini is the 'exciting' signing coming in before the US tour, Joe Allen is also a serious target. Journos in Spain say it was us who bid for Granero, don't know why though! say we are favourites for Daniel Sturridge also. Rumours persist of interest in Afellay, Krasic and Wanyama. I reckon Havard Nordtveit could also be under consideration. Will be 3 or 4 of them brought in.

On the departures front looks like Carroll is gone if we get a good offer. Real want Agger and City are interested in Skrtel along with Napoli. Jay Spearing I would hope is being ushered out the door along with Adam. I don't see a future for Aquilani or Maxi while Kuyt and Aurelio are already gone. Looks like Joe Cole is in Rodgers plans.

I personally feel Carroll, Agger and Skrtel will stay though.
The Gooch.

10 Jul 2012 14:28:50
Jordan Henderson could be about to rejoin Sunderland on a season long loan. With competition for starting places about to become more competitive, Rogers thinks he would be better off developing at a team were he would start more games. Henderson would welcome the move as he understands that he won't play as often as he did last season at Liverpool. Shelvey has signed a new long term deal at LFC as well.

this all reminds me of when phil thompson told the liverpool squad that gerard houlier had a signing up his sleeve that will shock the footballing world only to reveal abel xavier the next week!
borini fits fsg mold young obously one for the future a player we could become a good player at are club.also possible an italian freind to help aqualani to finally settle?
dempsey on the other hand doesnt make sense?
liverpool surely wouldnt loan carrol to italy unless it ment us getting someone class in return? pato maybe?

Hello ED's ...your getting a very good reputation around the web as been the first port of confirmation and i believe alot of journo's use this site ...so my question is .i think rogers carefully dropped that hint about an exciting new arrival the fans will love ..as he knows he cant say it in the press conference and that off camera it would trickle through to the fans who would appreciate the info as it becomes a bubbling couldren looking for real transfer info...however if borini is the player he was reffering to that is surley going to be a massive anti-climax as the general feel around fans is we could do better can u confirm he is the player or is there a twist in the tale ?....Thanks for good job u do !..please answer {Ed002's Note - No, there are no hidden messages.}

dempsey is nearly 30 years old we will not buy him.
pato is a great player but always injured.
johnson cant make the man c team and they want 15mil for him after buying him for 7 last season.(we could buy him late in the transfer window.
talking abt cavani higuan does not make any sence.if napoli and madrid buy i new striker it could make sence but for now those players are not for sale.
last season we got rid of alot off dead wood i think the aim is to get the remaining dead wood out.
kuyt replacement and another midfielder is what we need.and if there is money left another striker.
cant wait to see what players will be coming.i am positive if we keep the defence as it was and lucas coming back gerrard suarez and 2/3 players in.we should be ok

Seen a few posts now questioning those who want Alonso to be this exciting player. Why?
Alonso is only 30, and is the heart of the 6 man midfield that just dominated the Euros. His game has never relied at all on pace and agility so if anything age will favour him. He doesn't even rely on stamina. He just has perfect positioning all the time, and dictates and reads the game better than anyone else on the planet.
Just like Pirlo, he will still be in his prime at 34 because his game revolves around technique, not agility and energy. theres 6 top years left in Alonso.
He is without question the greatest midfielder since Zidane, and to think some of you guys are questioning him is beyond me. I'd take him back instantly, hell I'd pay for his first class flight!

YNWA! (Adam)

Good player - who had only one real good season at Anfield - but to say his name in the same sentence as Zidane is not only disrepectful to Zidane but it's laughable - he's only the 3rd or even 4th best midfielder in the Spanish National side

With the current status of Liverpool and Madrid and given he is 30, a move back would send out a message that he is in decline, which is the last thing he will want with the chance of playing in a world cupin 2 years.

There isn't a better player in the world doing what Xabi Alonso does. Xavi and Iniesta are very different players to him, and neither could do what he does (and vice versa). Alonso is a truly world class player, despite the drivel by the previous nameless poster, and would be welcome in any side

Alonso - class act.
Zidane - greatest player of all time.

Going to stick my neck out and say the exciting signing will be Ramirez.

That's my educated guess.

Dempsey
Borini
Allen
Could well be the 4 players that's been mentioned. I also think Carroll will stay.

I would be disappointed if AC went. He was starting to come good.. I would love Alonso but isnt there a saying - never go back - ripping up the team and building another one .., we will never get any further forward either ...
The only ont that should go is Downing ...

Downing shouldn't go - whilst at Villa his stats where much better than Young's - maybe BR is the man to make him like that again - because Dalglish certainly didn't, unfortunately KK had the same knack as our previous managers buy good players, then turn them into failures.

All these peor saying that borini is made up are well off the mark, he will be signed by the end of the week, he has averaged almost a goal every 2 games and is potentially a 20 goals a season player, not bad for 8 million eh? We don't have a lot of money to spend so higuain, ozil etc are highly unlikely. It's very likely Carroll will go out on loan or be sold.

Big chambers

Fellow Reds and Eds! WTF is going on if we let Carroll go on loan, how is that going to benefit us climbing the table. If its Borini in and him out then i for one will be gutted!

I think you should wait and see what happens during the season before turning against Rodgers.
If he sells Carroll and buys Borini and he starts banging in the goals, you sit will look like a fool.

Red Raw

But wat if he didnt so u get rid of someone who is showing signs he has settled and starting to play well to replace him with a dead eciting player borini who cheski let go no roma dont want hmm he sounds great

Carroll is showing signs yes but is hardly setting the world alight. Borini wasn't "let go" from Chelsea so to speak, as the Eds have said he wasn't getting offered the game time he wanted.

The fact is, no one knows if Rodgers wants him, if Carroll is staying or going. We're being kept in the dark until it happens, so we will all have to wait.

As a fan I know there is a divided opinion on Owen these days but I suspect the suits won't see that way - but probably believe he'll get us buzzing like re-signing Fowler.

Few players linked, don't now too much about borini to make a judgement or get excited about. Rodgers knows him better than most and if he is signed I test Rodgers judgement.
Dempsey would be a super signing, some on here not so sure but he's in his prime, scored 23 goals last season and can play a variety of positions.
Exactly what we need, If you look at our goals last season our midfield between them didn't score as much as Dempsey.

Still I don't regard either of these as signings that fans will be very "excited" about so we will see.
Heard a rumour it's affelay, can eds how any light on this?

10 Jul 2012 13:28:21
Not a rumour more an opinion I hope others will respond too. Brendan eluded to an exciting signing that is in the pipeline for the near future. Since then the names bashing around the most are Clint Dempsey and Fabio Borini. I do not know if I am just super negative but neither of these are exciting to me. I think Dempsey is a good player and from what I have seen of Borini he is quick and can finish but I would not call them exciting. Affelay would excite me!

10 Jul 2012 13:26:07
If rodgers buys players like Borini then i think he will be walking alone

Why because you haven't heard of him ?

GET REAL

So many people with such a great awareness of some players.......I wonder how many people regularly have watched Borini? I do not claim to have seen a great deal but he is a player with a good touch, can hold up the line, not with strength but with skill and also has pace. Quite a few attributes missing in our 35m man. One of liverpools problems last season was pace up front, Borini will definitely add this. Finishing is pretty good also, so would have to say all round he is likely to be more exciting up front than we have been used to (with exception to Suarez)

With comments like that, it'll be you walking alone.

10 Jul 2012 13:25:44
Surely our first and most important signing needs to be a striker ed? I can see Suarez playing right side of a 4-3-3 and what with kuyt gone I feel a striker is priority. I can see Bellamy playing left side when fit, it just leaves an out and out striker in my eyes, with Gerrard, Lucas and our second signing to complete the puzzle for starting 11. Then I think two decent squad players will be added.
Reina
Johnson skrtel agger Enrique
Lucas
Gerrard Ramirez
Suarez higuain bellamy
How would this do?

It would do great mate.

Were never signing higuain though. Unfortunately.

Dempsey and Borini will be the 2 signings Rodgers is referring to! Pleased to be signing Dempsey not so much Borini and wouldnt class either as particularly "exciting" signings

Do we have to believe that it is going to be a big name signing just because he said the fans will love him and also is an exciting signing. I think somebody else has said it maybe BR truly believes this player will become exciting and the fans will grow to love him....

10 Jul 2012 13:19:57
Eds,
Need your answer on this.
Is Rodgers think Liverpool fans consider Fabio Borini as exciting signings? I think Rodgers got it wrong if it is really true that he will be our exciting signings. He is a good poacher, which is something we dont have right now.

Another one, have we launch bid for Clint Dempsey?

Im really worried with our lack of signings while others sign really good player to compete top 4 next season.

Veteran fans YNWA. {Ed022's Note - We haven't bid for Dempsey mate, not at this moment anyway.}

XAbi Alonso has done an interview today saying that he is happy at Madrid, and at the moment does not plan to move however said you cant rule it out. Says he is still attached to LFC and could return at some point.

Only club he would leave to would be LFC

Yes when he is 35 and has nothing to offer - great

I think everyone should move on with the whole Alonso thing. Great player, Servant and person but he isnt going to come back, if he is going to move he will more then likely move to Real Sociedad and finish his career there

Borini or Dempsey

None of the above rather keep wat we have total rubish well exciting NOT

Borini for me.
I would rather sign potential than a player that only has a couple years left at the top and will spend half of that "settling".
Although I am a fan of Dempsey, he's a good player.

You must have seen Boroni on a regular basis to pass that kind of judgement then

I am very concerned about the standard of player we are chasing in borini compared to our rivals who are going after top players. Even Newcastle are targeting top players like Lukk de Jong and Douglas but we are going after Dempsey and borini who are not even as good as our young players like suso and sterling. If I was manager there would be a few outgoings to reduce the wage bill like aqua maxi cole spearing and two signings who would be Ramirez and Munian.
Reina
Johnson skrtel Agger Enrique
Gerrard lucus
Ramirez
Suarez carrol Munian.

Now that in my opinion is a top team plus you have downing Henderson Adam and maybe suso and sterling on the bench.
Thanks jc.

Top players like de Jong and Douglas? Not top players at all.

The only sighnings we would need for top 4, munain and ramirez. ri red

Just because you have heard of the name being mentioned doesn't make them a top player JC especially in the Premier League. I seem to remember Veron, Shevchenko, Forlan, Kewell, Bentley, Poborsky, Kezman, Alves, Rebrov... the list goes on.

People wanted Alonso back. Why? He was a great player when he left he is a great player were he is but if he came back now at his age do you realy think he could handle a season in the prem. The prem is a much faster pace than what he has played for the last few years. He could not do it here now. Loved him when we had him but his time has come and gone.

Fabio Borini: Scored 9 goals from 18 shots on target last season (50% conversion) - the 6th best rate of Serie A players with over 5 goals. This is the Kind of conversion that would meet the amount of chances we create, especially with all that post, crossbar last season. Reservesfc

That was my thoughts exactly mate.
He might not be the best player in the world but he is clinical in front of goal, not many teams had the chances we had last year, imagine if he put 50% of them away?

I have said it before and will say it again... Borini is crap and will not give us the progress we need... there you have it though . Our owners are shopping bargain basement when clubs like Utd are focussing on Lucas Moura.

Clubs like Utd can because they can offer champions league and consistent success where as we can not (unfortunately).
Top players are either interested in big wages or medals. At the moment we can offer neither.

Not a rumour of sorts but more an observation.
After reading the story of Brendan Rogers reinstating the 'This is Anfield' sign in the tunnel, it crossed my mind whether it was any indication that we're not moving to a new stadium and Anfield is to be redeveloped/upgraded?

10 Jul 2012 12:48:13
Dempsey would be perfect for Rodgers false 9 theory great movement and 23 goals in premierleague last season from midfield, also a very technical player for as little as 5 million don't know why Liverpool fans love being negative especially before anything is even been confirmed, the fans moan about the English media for having an agenda against L.F.C (which I believe they do) and yet they will moan if we sign Dempsey and moan if we don't!HATE NEGATIVITY

Rogers open to letting Andy Carroll go out on loan according to rumours and pretty BR's comments.

I would not like that, I think Carroll is being unfairly pigeonholed becuase of his size. His Close control and short passing are top notch. Don't want to see him leave to be honest

Can I ask a question to any of the Eds or in fact anyone reading:

We have been "linked" with a lot of what I would call "big players" such as Higuain, Pato, Ramirez, Ozil, Alonso etc etc....

Now although I have seen some of the Eds put "they are available at the right price" even if we offered the "right price" do you think they would still join in the fact that they would not be getting champions league football?

I seem to remember City signing some "big name players" when they were in the Europa league, so surely we can as well?!

What do you guys think?

City had the £££ to back up their intent. We don't have that same money. Most of those players will not be considering an Anfield move.

Difference is though, city could afford to pay them over 200k a week, something that we cannot and wont do.

All this 'exciting' signing business is baffling. Wasn't this term used in a off the record conversation with the journo's as revealed by Ben Smith BBC? Rodgers' definition of 'exciting' may well be very different to that of the fans, in other words not a house hold name. Just a thought!

Ed022,a quick question if you'd be so kind? When a player transfers from a club like Manchester City,surely unless they are leaving for another top top club,they expect to have to take a wage cut? In the cases of say Adam Johnson or Adebayor,who I believe Ed002 said his gross wages were about 2% of Liverpools annual turnover,that's obviously astronomical. Point being when signing for a mega rich club,wages are always going to be high,but when they leave surely they accept they won't get those kinds of wages again? Especially if they havnt made the grade at said top club(again,I'll use Johnson and Adebayor as examples.) Any info would be appreciated! Thanks. :). WelshBoyDave {Ed022's Note - See you'd think that wouldn't you? But players genuinely hate taking wage cuts (As you'd expect) and some are perfectly happy sitting on a bench getting over 100k per week, rather than playing week in week out earning 90k per week. Very strange if you ask me, but hey ho that's life.}

10 Jul 2012 12:37:00
Would the owners really consider selling or loaning Andy Carroll ?.. Its seems a bit strange with signs of him being back to his better days, surely they would want to see a 35 million pound player prove his worth playing for liverpool rather that else were ?..

I have read the Rodgers interview again, the conclusion is not just Andy Carroll could be loaned out, he intimated anybody could be loaned out if it would be beneficial to the club, that to me means ANYONE. It's typical Sly Sports making something out of nothing, I hope that Carroll stays and proves all the doubters wrong - he came to us with the expectation he was going to be Englands main striker for at least ten years, what have the management team done to ruin that?

John B

Rogers did mention AC by name so read it again sam

10 Jul 2012 12:17:23
I would'nt mind if we sold carroll, not a massive fan, he's overpriced and overpaid. If carroll wasnt a LFC player at this time i doubt very much many fans would be screaming sign him. I dont think hes a bad player but imo i would say a squad player. I think LFC need a #9 on the pitch not on the bench and i can only see AC sat there when BR builds his team to play pass n move. AC does bring a differant dimension and can have an impact but like i say, very expensive sub.

10 Jul 2012 12:17:22
Dempsey deal should be tied up by tomorrow night (thursday afternoon at the latest) the other (exciting) player that may be signed this week is Jakub Blaszczykowski with Dortmund willing to accept offers around about €12mil.

I think too many fellow Reds are getting caught up in the immanent 'exciting' signing. Rodgers has said he will excite the fans but this doesn't necessarily mean it is going to be a house hold name. Maybe he means Borini will become a fans favourite. Just thought I'd throw my 2 pence worth in

Hi Eds..I must admit the phrase be careful what you wish for may come back to haunt me over Andy carrol..I never thought he looked like he had the overall game to make it as a top prem striker, Thats why when KK said he wanted to get the reds playing a passing game i was suprised he saw big Andy as part of these plans, Maybe BR cant see him fitting into a team he wants to play with a quick passing style with plenty of movement, which i cant myself.
That being said I would be reluctant to sell or loan as he is in quite good form and BR said he wants to asses the squad, i think his attitude to questions on big andy is a message to him saying, if you don't fit in to my style of play you can go, nothing more.
If milan were to take him on loan and pay all his wages for a season it may do him good,
Although i believe he still could have a big part to play for us this season and i would not want to do milan a favour after the aqua saga..

What do you think on big andy?

Dave {Ed022's Note - I see no point in selling a player who has started to come into great form.}

I would love LFC to sign .....

-Demba Ba
-Fernando LLorente
-Adam Johnson

The above players IMO would be what is needed to secure 4th place (Minimum)

I also think we should sell

Whilst giving a season loan to

- Adam Morgan
- Jack Robinson

And maybe enrolling some youngsters into the first team

-Raheem Sterling

Brendan Rogers is bigging up Jay Spearing, don't get me wrong I like the player but he is just not good enough,he fits in with the work hard philosophy but if we want to get back to where we think we belong,we need hard work and class and Jay spearing doesn't have this, and don't send Andy Carroll on loan or sell him get a winger who can actually cross the ball.

Spearing looked alright at times last season and here he deserves another chance as much as downing or any of the new cats he came up through the system

10 Jul 2012 12:06:57
I really like the way Rodgers thinks, makes perfect sense.
"There are many components you look at before you bring in a player “ first and foremost in terms of his technical and tactical qualities," he said.
"But you are also looking at whether they can add value for many years, is he someone who is going to be short term?
"Ultimately he has to have the personality “ we've seen many good players come here and haven't been able to work here but leave and become very good players again."
In other words it takes a player with great character to play for Liverpool not everyone can cope, this is where maybe Downing, Carroll and Henderson have failed (so far)

I had to get rid of 4 players from the current squad it would be:

Aquilani,
Cole,
Maxi,
Spearing.

Although we wouldn't get anything in transfer fees we would save a lot on wages.

But I do fear we are going to lose Carroll for borini.

I am not against borini coming in, he would be a good addition but not at the expense of Carroll.

MIKEY

Im sure kuyt is one of the four macca mentioned

If i had to get rid of 4 it would have to be Aqua, Kuyt already gone, Spearing and Adam. Cole stays by default. Now if it was 5? Then hes out the door. The only problem is that there is very little re sale value, so how do you buy replacements? Maxi would be 6th out. Useful player at times!

The Irish Rover

I'm hoping kuyt was one of the 4.
I expect a few more than 4 will leave though. I completely forgot about Pacheco I expect he will be gone too.
Transfer funds might be available from the owners but I suspect we might be losing one of our big players if a good offer cones in and that will help pay for transfers.
I would have my money on Suarez.

MIKEY

So we're going to lose Suarez and Carroll this summer eh guys?

You two(along with others) had Suarez nailed on to leave right?

We've already had a massive overhaul of players last summer - can't see it happening again.

My outs:

Aquilani
Kuyt
Spearing
Cole or Maxi

Ins:
Ramirez
ST
DM
CB

The 'Outs' you would think priority? So selling Carroll, Suarez and Agger/Skrtel would send us back to the stone age....

Me above..

Btw..I commend your, not sitting on the bench, malarkey.

Brendan Rodgers claims that he "hasn't heard" about a potential move for Andy Carroll by AC Milan, but that doesn't necessarily mean one isn't in progress. Should the unthinkable happen and Carroll really does move to the San Siro, it could be seen as a gift to Rodgers when trying to implement a new style that Carroll looks incompatible with on paper. Liverpool's American owners have already paid big money in the past, so 25 million Euros for a player of Kaka's calibre looks a steal in comparison to the £35 million paid for Carroll. The Brazilian's technical mastery and ability on the ball would raise Liverpool to a new level as part of Rodgers new attacking system, particularly alongside Luis Suarez. Whether Kaka would be willing to go to a team without Champions League football is a different question...

Kaka Mate is now Crap

And his wages would be beyond LFC

The above cut and paste from talksport web site .. which forgot to mention his age and that LFC wont pay the wages he will ask for ,and the fact that he spent most of the past seasons out injured ..
He is not the same Kaka of few years ago, and if the Spanish league is too tough for him, he has no chance in the PL

Could the four signings we get be

1 Dzagoev. Young skill full midfielder whose contract expires in January. Would be a great buy if possible and certainly a player with creativity. Would probably command a fee of in region of 5-8 million.

2 Ramirez. Another young skilfull player, fits the FSG profile and is looking to move this summer. At 17 million would be a good piece of business if we could pull it off. He would also add a threat in front of goals and also provide assists.

3 Elm. Great young centre mid playing for AZ in Holland. He has excellent passing ability and would fit into the style of play we want to adopt. Could be bought for between 7-9 million.

4 Krasic or Affelay both tricky wingers with the ability to score goals. Both are unwanted by their clubs and will e allowed to leave this summer for fees in region of 6-8 million. Either of these players would provide width and a goal threat, and are both reasonably priced.

I fully expect Aqualani, Spearing, Eccleston, Rodriguez, Adam and hopefully Downing to be sold. This would free up wages and raise some minor funds for additional players.

Jonesred

First two yes. Maybe Afellay. Elm and Krasic Imo are just not good enough.

I dont want to go into too much detail on borini lads. Is this 21year old the proven goalscorer we were missing last season and the clinical finisher we really' need this season to challenge top four? I remain sceptial, but as always have faith. I believe in BR, if it is borini, who knows, we still might sign another striker should Carroll go on loan or be sold?(higuain would be wishful thinking ;-))

People truly want Alonso back? Don't get me wrong, I love him, but if we are building for the future, surely it would make more sense to sign a younger midfielder?

Class is class, simple as. I reckon he has 3 good seasons left in him. I would hope that any price anyone paid for him would reflect that too. I'd love him back.

Nick

Alonso gives us a 'touch of pure class', he would be soo very welcome!.
Shankly's Red Army.

Loved alonso's last season with us but before that he was not all that great. get over ex players and move on

10 Jul 2012 11:18:33
Hi all following on from my yesterday's early morning post My contact has told me that carrol will go but only if the right offer comes in and our exciting addition is alonso's return ( it was he not granero who we enquired about initially turned down because Madrid had not yet got a replacement that will change once modric signs for them) a versatile attacking midfielder or centre forward will also arrive borini or Ramirez most likely
I know I'm right

SLY SPORTS reporting that Mourinho is after AGGER. Is there any truth in this. I hope not. He had his best season for us last season, and he fits the pass and move style perfectly.
Also, I hope the reported 'Carroll Out' is not correct. I thought he was excellent at the end of the season, and at the Euro's. I think if he had started the quarter final, we would have progressed. He will make so much space for Suarez, as well as giving us 15-20 goals to boot.

Lincoln Red

With these owners i think every player has a price

Sky was simply reading the papers, not their reporters as such.

Well said Lincoln.
Andy is still very young himself so if he doesn't fit into Rodgers' style of play, then teach him it. Rodgers is a good manager so I'm sure he could get the best out of big Andy. Agger will not be going to Real Madrid, he had a good Euro's and is an amazing player and that is why the press are linking him to the Bernabeu.

I'm still not sure in the truth of the Borini story. He's only just signed for Roma (full ownership) and he made all these statements stating how pleased he was to be a Roma player and how he was looking forward to next season with them.

10 Jul 2012 11:13:46
If Borini has had his part ownership settled, does this not mean he has actually signed for a club now. If it is true i assume that you can not sign for more than 1 club per season. Am I way off Edd's {Ed022's Note - His ownership issues are behind him.}

10 Jul 2012 11:10:46
If I was to make an educated guess the four that will be leaving would be Adam, Maxi, Aquilani, Pacheco or Wilson.

Which would mean another CM maybe Allen? ( only going on what Macca said I'm aware that there is an agreement not to go for Swansea players)
Another wide player to replace maxi and the already departed kuyt. I hope so much it's Ramirez but still can't see it.
Another striker should be bought and I think Carroll should stay, I can't see us buying another defender even if Wilson goes.
I think a decent summer would be Ramirez, Allen, a striker, and a versatile player maybe Honda?(I wish)

Hello Ed now rodger s open to send carroll on loan. So it means we have only 1 striker left suarez who is in olympics. Do we expect rodger will sign two striker as we lack goals last season we realy need those strikers who score goals.
What u reckon.
Thanx. {Ed022's Note - If Carroll is loaned/sold then another Striker will certainly be brought in.}

10 Jul 2012 11:07:53
Mirror reporting Real Madrid chasing Agger! Rodgers must move heaven and earth to keep him, as he is class and in my eyes the next captain. Think the exciting signing will be Adam Johnson, and Caroll will depart, unfortunately. Looking at Rodgers body language he did nothing to suggest that he actually wants to keep carroll, so just as he starts to look good we get rid of him..............

10 Jul 2012 11:03:22
Eds, BR has opened a can of worms with the press which has led to more speculation over every player we have been linked with. Dempsey will be a good addition but not the 'exciting player' as BR has labelled our next signing. Borini was not wanted at Chelsea, loaned out to Swansea and has said he is not moving back to England. Liverpool are crying out for a goal scorer, a poacher, 20 odd goal a season man and desperate for a touch line winger which we haven't had since Steve Mc. Who could it possibly be that's coming in? I believe it will be someone exciting where we will all say 'I didn't see that coming'. Promising I hope. I look forward to big thing under BR. Thanks LFC4eva

This is an excellent post and not sure why it didn't make the main site. Anyone who disagree's with this post knows nothing about football

Hi eds, would love to see xabi alonso back at the club, still rate him and think hes a great player! Borini doesn't excite me that much but i hope that he proves me wrong if he does join! what do you think of borini?

I was able to talk to someone in the know of LFC affairs. I tried to ask him who we were after. He wouldnt give out any names. So i started naming players randomly if he would tell me who in the list we were signing. I mentioned Adam Johnson,Sturridge,Borini,,Higuain,Pato,Mattias Suarez and Tello and replied me "lol...you wont be signing any of those but there is interest in Johnson"... I then asked about Dempsey and Gaston but he already went offline.
Am not claiming to be connected or anything of the sort,I just wrote the little i could find out. He told me about us not going to sign Martinez as manager even when Whelan claimed he was offered the job. He also told me not to listen to Ian Abrahams of Talksports when he claimed we were signing Klopp as manager

Bryan Francis {Ed022's Note - He must be a wizard.}

its quiet on here in the last hour. Something is happening today. Something big. Liverpool to sign someone amazing.

If Borini is amazing, then Carroll is out of this world.

10 Jul 2012 10:54:05
Do you think Carroll might go on loan to Swansea as a sweetener for a deal with Allen or are we looking at a more permanent off load off Carroll?

Great site by the way, good to see some serious answers on transfers rather than loose gossip on well known websites. {Ed022's Note - I canny see it.}

10 Jul 2012 10:48:35
I know we're all waiting with baited breath to see who the transfer signings will be, but I really do hope the youngsters, especially Suso and Sterling, get more game time. I personally think Sterling has the potential to light the EPL up, his pace is unbelievable and the small amount of time he played last season against the likes of Wigan showed he's got solid attacking prowess. What do you think Eds, what are your opinions on this, do you think they'll be given more game time under Rodgers? I know age is still an issue but the likes of Owen and Rooney started off pretty young and made an immediate impact! Thanks for the hard work guys. JP.

10 Jul 2012 10:43:50
There is no way AC Milan should get Carroll on loan after the way they messed Liverpool about with Aquaman. A deal was agreed in principle but they tried to pull a fast one with the price. MonaghanRed

10 Jul 2012 10:43:04
I think Roman Abramovich has rediscovered his interest in Chelsea since they won to European Cup! Marin and Hazard, with Oscar to follow shortly!

I think with the squad they're assembling, it may be a three horse race for the title, therefore a three horse race for the 4th Champions League spot! I've dismissed Newcastle in this race, as I don't think they have the size of squad to juggle 4 competitions.

Tottenham and Arsenal I think will remain where they are in terms of development, whilst they are strengthening they look set to lose their talismanic figures in Modric and RvP, and both will be very difficult to replace with similar quality

Liverpool will not be as bad as they were last season, they just can't! Some wise purchases to increase our goal threat and I really think we'll be in the shake up for 4th spot.

10 Jul 2012 10:42:16
Can I just point out the obvious please! So BR said an exciting signing is on the way.......what was he supposed to say? "we have a mildly exciting average squad player coming in this week". Obviously if BR is signing him he believes he is a good player who will improve the team. I think Brendan has a bit more about him than signing a "name" just to excite the fans regardless of if he fits the mould! Can people please stop guessing names and believe in BR! I would be delighted for Xabi to come back but like the eds I can't see it at the moment.

Andy

He could have just said 'there's a signing due to go through this week'. I personally don't think he'd build it up the way he did if it was Fabio Borini. I'm not sure Xabi Alonso is going to happen. I think a deal for Joe Allen may happen, whether someone else bids and we go in or Allen hands in a transfer request. I think we could also be in for Dempsey, Ramirez and maybe another striker.
The reports saying the Ramirez move was 'wide of the mark' I think isn't true. If Rodgers was asked about him do you think he's going to say 'yes we've just got a bid in for Ramirez' so that someone like City could move in, I think he'd rather keep it quiet 'till a deal was done.
So Imo his 'exciting' deal could be Gaston Ramirez or Clint Dempsey. Or maybe a striker that we don't even know we're in for, Jovetic maybe? The not spending sack loads of money comment might not be true, a smokescreen, as some people like to say on here, to hide that we're doing bigger deals.

I don't think Borini or Dempsey are very exiting to be honest.

Hey edds great job really! I have to ask you that if we sign borini are you disappointed? I think if the price is that 8 million and wage demands are in balance too he would be a good signing. Who you think could be better option? I have so much trust in Rodgers that Borini is quality if he comes and he knows what he is buying if he signs for us!

YNWA! Finnish flash {Ed022's Note - I would personally be disappointed yes. However, if he did sign, I would give him nothing but my full support.}

10 Jul 2012 10:38:18
Eds if carrol goes to ac milan on loan is there any chance of robinho coming our way ? Could this be our exciting player?

Is this the same Robinho who thought he'd signed for Chelsea but actually signed for City. Played well twice and looked totally disinterested for the rest of the time and was then shuffled off to Milan. I wonder how some of these guys get contracts at top clubs when they are obviously not that motivated. Not one for Liverpool in my eyes.
Simon

Surely wages are a major issue with Robinho.
He's a damn sulk anyway.

10 Jul 2012 10:35:41
Hi Eds,

Have not written for a while but totally addicted! All of you inc. Macca are doing a great job and long may it continue.
If Carrol does go on loan to say AC Milan, do you think there could be a possibility of a player exchange? Secondly, Brenden Rogers said off camera yesterday that "the fans would be excited and absolutely love the player" (or something along those lines!). This leads me to believe that it is not Borini, most of the Eds think the same. I am inclined to believe the player is skilfull, technically gifted and creative...Borini is an out and out goal poacher simply does not fit the descrpition. Grateful for any insight you might have? Many thanks... {Ed022's Note - I don't see why AC Milan would ask to loan a player and then sweeten the deal by offering another player in return - makes no sense to me at all. Pato is out of favour at Milan, but I know of no interest in him from Liverpool, and last I checked his wages would put a stop to any potential move on the cards. PSG were the club showing the most interest last I checked.}

10 Jul 2012 10:33:00
BREAKING NEWS: Dave whelan has just confirmed to sky that Liverpool will make an exciting signing this week.

If that was the case we would all know exactly who it is, how much he cost, his wages, address, bank account details and bra size.

what I don't understand are all the liverpool fans who continually praise sterling as our saviour. anyone who watches our reserves play would clearly see that suso has buckets more potential and if anyone is going to come in and make a difference it's him. he should be the one that gets a run.

Agreed, he is excellent for the spanish U19's, top player

I am yet so be totally convinced by Sterling.
Yes he's quick, but so is Walcott.

But were not limited to one reserve player getting a run out maybe the two of them?just a thought maybe even adjoran and wisdom hes a big lad get him out there

10 Jul 2012 10:24:07
Bit of info to share ...
2 players close to signing for Liverpool FC are:
Higuain - 23M
Afellay - 12M

I have a friend who has very small connections with Barca. That is my source, he reckons they are both on.

ElRoja {Ed022's Note - Why would a source within Barcelona have links with a Real Madrid player?}

10 Jul 2012 10:23:26
hi eds i heard by a source who is rarely wrong that borini is pretty much all wrapped up with carroll being loaned out to roma as BR doesn't rate carroll but thinks roma could help carroll improve his game

I just can't help but think that those changes would leave our squad weaker, we should be adding strikers not swapping them.

10 Jul 2012 10:20:05
I'm hoping AC stays to be honest. We all know "tike taka" football doesn't always work when teams park the bus.

Liverpool have always struggled when the lower teams stick 11 men behind the ball and having AC in the sqaud can change a game and give us options that not even Barcalona have.

I think it would be a huge mistake to get rid of AC and that IMO will be BR first mistake.

We are being linked with Borini and macca said we are interested, I'm sorry but he isn't good enough to clean Andy's boots. He is OK as a 3rd striker I suppose but not first team material for a club who want to make it back at the top.

I'm a huge fan of AC and he deserves a chance to prove himself. For me a front 3 of AC,LS and maybe GR (if we are lucky enough to, him) would give us pace, power and tricks and a nightmare for any defence in the prem.

If AC goes and Borini's our new first choice striker, I for
one believe that would be a step backwards.

Brendan, you are not at Swansea any more, we deserve better than "Average at best, Borini"

Not having a pop before people start saying " go support someone else" I am Liverpool through and through and will support anyone who signs for our club, I'm just voicing my opinion.

Borini for Carroll? I know who I'd rather play against if I was a defender.

Hi Ed's/Macca,

Macca mentioned that ideally it would be 4 in/4 out.
If thats the case, and we do sign Borini (or any striker) could it be argued that its Borini in to replace Kuyt ? (as its almost as if people have forgot kuyt has gone). Maybe i'm just hoping there because i personally don't want to see Carroll leave.

Cheers Stevie JFT96

10 Jul 2012 10:09:25
Hi Eds. Great site great work. I was wondering In your opinion do you think that in today's game we could actually do all the work and sign a player on the quiet? I mean won't the parent team and agents want to get it out in the open to try an solicit other bids to drive the price up. I sincerely hope we get some gems on the down low but am skeptical of the people in the business. {Ed022's Note - Liverpool are the masters at keeping signings quiet mate.}

10 Jul 2012 10:06:42
Hi Eds.
I thought all signings would be age dependant? With Dempsey being 29 surely this would be a non-starter, wouldn't it?

MUSHROOM {Ed022's Note - Signings are never age dependent mate, and you'd think so.}

10 Jul 2012 10:02:34
If rodgers loans out Carroll then he should loan himself back to swansea. Never rated rodgers at all. He only took over what was already built at swansea years before. Borini what a joke thats laughable i give him 6 months before he is sacked. And if FSG have no money why did the buy a football club. They never had money for a new stadium and it seems we have to sell to buy. Did they think they can make the top 4 by reducing the wage bill and selling players.

If they get better players on cheaper wages - then why can't that plan work?

Did Newcastle no harm....

10 Jul 2012 10:02:00
BR has admitted AC can go out on loan and 'he knows where he stands'. Looks like AC Liverpool career is all but done. I think it could be a big mistake as AC is starting to look like the player we know he can be. Better have good replacements with decsions like that.

And just where did he say that he said no such thing he just refused to sing his name from the roof tops thats it

I really like Carroll system or not i hope he stays..

10 Jul 2012 09:43:34
Borini is not welcome at liverpool. He is s**t if BR thinks that signing will make the fans happy then he might as well go back to swansea with those type of signings. This is liverpool not a championship club.

If we do get dempsey could there be any chance that our american owners hav anythin to do with the signing of him..? Wouldnt hav thought he fits in to the so called new 'youth policy'.. Or could it just be coincidence that dempseys being linked just b4 the US pre season tour n having US owners ..?

10 Jul 2012 09:41:58
Am I the only one thinking it won't be borini because he won't be available for most of the tour, if Rodgers wants to bring someone in before they go then surely he must be going with them in which case it's not borini cos he was at the euros, or is that to logical {Ed022's Note - I have made it very public that I do not believe it is Borini.}

Eds is there any chance of Alonso He said last year he would love a return BR said the signing was going to be an exiting one and the fans would love him BR is close friends with Mourinho Real are getting Modrice Replacment for Alonso?? and Alonso was at John Lennon airport Any Chance Eds?? {Ed022's Note - It is unlikely this year.}

What is BR perception of exciting?

It may not match yours or mine?

Is he excited about his new job, the one he originally refused to interview for.

10 Jul 2012 09:36:58
hi Eds. you maybe answered this before but i havent found any...

there is som rumours about Joe Allen. Is there some truth there? I think about the agreement between rodgers and swansea about buying their players...

If Allen is at Liverpools shortlist... its great news. A very good player. Ive seen him for a while. GREAT prospect {Ed022's Note - You haven't found any answers at all? Give me a break.}

I don't get the hype for a player who can only pass backwards Allen an some stupid people are even comparing him to Xavi.
Get a grip just an average player with one decent season in the Epl.

I have not found any answers either probably because I am too fricken Lazy to look for them

Hello guys, first time poster on here. I have been seeing if this rumour had already been buzzing about but doesn't seem to be on here yet. Great site by the way.

I have just found out some of the most exciting news in a long time! The big new signing that Rodgers is talking about is.......

DZAGOEV

My source is within the club and he seems to think he will be flying over to seal the deal tomorrow (Wednesday). Remember where you heard this first and keep a look out for more of these updates from me.

10 Jul 2012 09:29:15
I can't believe some of the posters here. It's Higuain 100%. It's the return of Xabi Alonso. You guys are so disgusting. Don't you read the eds' answers? Haven't the eds made it clear that neither Higuain nor Alonso will be joining us this summer? STOP LYING FOR GOD'S SAKE.

Calm down. Dont use the d-word so lightly. You are talking about other people here.

how about Pato for carroll? how would anyone like that?

I would keep Carroll because he was coming into form and Pato is injury prone in the Italian league so what would he be like in the premier league.

Hey Ed's do you's reckon it makes sense that liverpool could be signing dempsey just in time for the american tour ? i'd be happy if both borini and dempsey are signed this week !!! {Ed022's Note - I don't know.}

10 Jul 2012 09:14:05
So us Liverpool should be excited? Well if the rumours are true and that excitement is aimed at Borini and Dempsey well I am sorry but expect much better. Underwhelmed is my feeling. Borini failed at Chelsea and has done nothing in Italy. If he was that good all the major clubs around Europe would be chasing him. On top of that he could replace Carroll please do me a favour.

GET A GRIP LIVERPOOL FC. STOP KIDDING THE FANS

I think its you who needs to get a grip mate, your just talkin about pure speculation. You have no idea who we will sign so slagging the club off before its even hsppened is a little immature dont you think? Grow up man

Ian the red

I don't see how Borini failed at Chelsea? There's a huge difference between failure and failure to be given an opportunity...

Since he left Chelsea he's been getting goals when given starts. 6 in 9 for Swansea and 9/10 in 20 for Roma are some decent stats for a 21 year old.

I think Rodgers has made his only mistake thus far in saying we could get a player this week who will really excite the fans. He has put unnecessary pressure on himself to go out and bring in some quality additions, also the player in question may also feel the burden of being the Liverpool fans next great hope.

Borini would be a good addition for us, but Rodgers may have read the fans slightly wrong if he think the majority will be excited by his arrival.

RedSG

Spot on mate. Glad to see I'm not the only one who isn't creaming myself at the thought of Borini & Dempsey joining the club. If those two are the best we can get, then I really fear for the future of LFC.

10 Jul 2012 09:07:36
Carroll possibly leaving would be a huge mistake. Just starting to find his form at Liverpool and had a good EC. Need to keep faith in him now and he can be a HUGE player for LFC next season!

I dont think he will be going if macca said 4 then surely that would be aqua cole spearing and kuyt or maxi it would make no sense selling carroll now when he started to come good

10 Jul 2012 09:27:12
There's no pleasing some people. Before the rumours of Carroll leaving, he was constantly slagged off by fans. Now the rumours have arrived, people will be 'furious' if he leaves, and wouldn't settle for 'less than 30 million'. Are you mad? We will never get 30 million for Carroll, never. He started to show form at the end of the season, but the reality is he is clumsy on and off the ball and doesn't have the pace we're crying for up front. Andy Carroll winning headers in the hope someone else will get on the end of it doesn't excite me. If an offer of 20 million or so came in, and we had adequate replacements lined up who better fit the system, I'd bite their hand off. Just my personal opinion.

KingHeskey

I agree, we could get 2 strikers with similar goal returns as carroll but could offer more than just a target for a long ball if we got 20mil

10 Jul 2012 09:26:40
Hi Ed's and fellow Reds, if the big fella (carroll) does leave on loan or pernament, I really hope we put a bid for bilbao's Llorente, he didn't get a sniff at the euro's, so maybe he will want a move to a differnt league, and with pepe here, and having seen Alonso, Torres, Mata, Fabregas all develop into all round better players by being in the prem, He might be willing to come to anfield, what's his situation? And would his price tag and wages be too much for us? Because he is a target man, but has great movement, and bilbao play in the same system BR played at swansea, and if Carroll is allowed to move on, he would be the perfect upgrade and would certainly excite all kopites! Thanks ed's ! Y..N..W..A jft96! Davey H L20 KOPITE

Rodgers had got the press all over the place, they have no idea what he is planning and are covering themselves by mentioning every name under the sun. How good it is to have a manager like we deserve.

Borini would not even improve the reserves.

Rodgers is no fool, if he says a signing to excite then there will be someone who the fans will be excited by, it wont be Borini. Im not saying Borini isnt coming in, im saying he isnt the big name to excite, although maybe it is Muniain perhaps?
Like I said, he isnt a fool, he knows what hes on about.

Anfield Andy

Unless you heard BR say it, don't read too much into a tweet from a journalist

If Borini is the one then the stands will be empty.

10 Jul 2012 09:19:55
Just a point or two.......

Personally Id be happy to have Borini and Dempsey...But...If these are the exciting signings Mr Rodgers speaks of then he's got the totally wrong impression of what this clubs fans expect....We know its hard to attract certain players on certain wages especially without Champions league football but to EXCITE us I wouldnt be talking about these two......

Also just a personal worry...But last year Mr Rodgers did a great job of taking a group of players that varied from underperforming to showing promise and made them play attractive, good to watch football, now thats all well and good if your Swansea and you want to finish above the relegation dogfight but take that same ethos of buying players to fit the same system and apply it to wanting a top four finish and surely you look at better quality than the two mentioned?.......Otherwise if we pursue nothing but the standard that would have been acceptable at Swansea last year then surely we make ourselves a side good enough to compete mid table with Swansea also........

I would just like to think that LFC would be capable of attracting better players than would only be acceptable at a mid table club.....Lets face it WE finished no better than mid table come the end of the season so our so called squad isnt in that great a shape before we start.........

Heres hoping that 'exciting' signing will knock our socks off!

The Guv 81-9 YNWA JFT96

We didn't hear BR say anything about exciting. A journalist tweeted it

BR did say that the fans would love one of them and both are not good enough.

It's a sad day when us LFC supporters are happy with just Borini & Dempsey coming in. Looks like we are settling for another mid-table finish again.

10 Jul 2012 09:19:18
Following on from what Macca said it would make sense to offload Carroll £20mil (while his stock is high and image is ok) and Downing for around £9/10mil as in quite a short time from now he would be worth nothing (age). Joe Cole wages are too high for his limited contibution £4mil: Possibly Skyrtel for £16mil (had one good season) Aqua for £5mil. Around £55 mil generated from these sales of 4 squad players and one regular(Skrtel)
Would let Brendan bring in some quality players. No British players please.
Borini (who I posted was on his way 4 weeks ago) De Jong,Ramirez and Allen who could be Liverpools Xavi. And all for less than the £55 mil we've generated in sales? Now that's what I would call adding Quality! (Lower wages as well)
kidmillions

Allen liverpools Xavi lol you right in the head?
Hendo is even better than little squirt Allen who can only pass back.

Is joe Allen not British? Surely bringing in the right players is all that matters regardless of their nationality.

I got to disagree with you iv never been one of the fans on carrol's back he started looking good last year and i think it would be a mistake to let carroll go now we were short of strikers last year it would be foolish to let him go and only bring 1 in i think every 1 is reading too much into it and he wont be going any where

10 Jul 2012 09:17:13
4 In: Muninian , Rameriz, Allen, Granero
4 Out : Maxi, Aqualani (He doesnt wnt to live here), Carrol, Cole.

Would take that? Would save alot on wages with aqua, carroll and cole.

Agree or not that this would be good?

Jordan

p.s i know it is prob a little un realistic

So we sell a striker and sign 4 midfielders. This leaves is with two strikers (Bellamy and Suarez) who are both going to the Olympics. Which leaves us with no strikers to start the season.

Red Raw

Muniain, Ramirez and Granero would probably take the wages of Cole, Carroll and Aqualani if not more.

MUSHROOM

I strongly disagree with granero-in and Carol-out

Drigan

Yeah because that would leave us with just Suarez up front as the only recognised striker in the squad

Granero isnt good enough plus we need a striker

Rameriz can play upfront as plays wide with another wide player possibly downing, then 3 CM and 4 defenders!

So we are gonna play the spain way.Pack the midfield, with Gerrard as the FAKE number 9!

10 Jul 2012 09:05:49
Rodgers talks about the "exciting transfer". Lets wait and see how exciting this will be. Only player for me that would fill that tag would be return of EL NINO - TORRES !! could it happen especially with Carroll being linked away !

10 Jul 2012 09:03:03
Hi, I was the one who posted about Ryan Babel being in Liverpool on Saturday.. I didn't say he was going to sign. I just noted he has been told he can leave if he wants. He was in Liverpool on Saturday with 1 friend. Even check his t**tter from Saturday, he has a couple of photos in Liverpool. Not saying he's signing for anyone but just trying to make things more interesting. Instead of making rumours up like "Neymar to Liverpool". "Carroll to Milan 40m" etc.

10 Jul 2012 09:02:42
I personally cannot see the benefit in sending one of our major assets to AC Milan on-loan, especially considering considering the Aquilani affair. Carroll may get some games under his belt but it will be in a different league, with a different style. If he does well how does it benefit Liverpool except maintaining his market value?

If BR does not feel that Carroll's style of play fits in with how he would like to see us play this year then sell him. We can then use that money to strengthen the squad. Having a £20m asset contributing to another team just doesn't make any sense.

Personally I think BR is using this a kick up the backside to Carroll so he starts the season in the same way he finished last season. I thought the last couple of months he was looking almost unplayable at times and Carroll in that mood will fit into anyone's team.

JRG

I agree totally that it is madness to loan a player that cost £35 million, but to sell him?

The Irish Rover

In total agreement i think br seen how kenny had a love in with carroll and that didn't work so like you said a kick up his back side might kick him into life and keep him playing like he did at the end of last year

'The Irish Rover'

Personally I would like to keep Carroll - towards the end of last season he was showing what he was truly capable of. His goal at the Euro's was an example of what he can do with the right service. The question is does he fit into BR's style? He main attributes are winnings headers and holding the ball-up. If we believe that Rodgers wishes to play a pass-and-move game with quick interchanges then this does not suit Carroll's game. How many of those balls that Gerrard crossed to him at the Euro's will he expect to receive with BR's style?

For the record I defended Carroll against some horrific abuse last season. I never wanted the club to sign him but as soon as he became a Liverpool player I backed him 100%. I was proud towards the end of the season that the belief shown in him was starting to be rewarded. I still believe that with the right service, Carroll will score lots of goals. I hope it is with us.

JRG

I like your point about being a kick up the backside. Some players need a hand on the shoulder, others need a kick. Andy is the type that needs a kick.

Anyone else notice when his form started to spark? When he was subbed at St James' Park. (rhyme unintentional). Totally humiliated, that was the kick up the arse he needed and his performances improved game by game and got a couple of goals.

I think you are right in that this is just to maintain his form and focus. If he takes a dip in form, it takes him a while to get back up. Once his form is up though, he is a beast, and the beast we need to challenge at the top end of the table.

4th reply regarding Carroll being subbed at St James' Park - or the Sports Direct Arena as we like to call it now ; )

I think you are spot on - I don't know if it was Dalglish's intention to humiliate him in-front of the fans who used to idolise him but it had a positive effect. After that I think he realised there was no going back to Newcastle after the way the fans treated him and he started to knuckle down.

Good call.

JRG

Let's not let Milan make fools of us again.Pay up to sign him if you realy want him.You know what he's all about.
Tell Berlusconi big Andy's a fan*y magnet and would do a whole lot of good for your bunga bunga party's!!

10 Jul 2012 09:01:38
I think Borini will possibly be a good signing in the long run ( if we are genuinely after him ), looks a prospect, his record is nothing startling of course.
However Borini or Dempsey could most definitely not be described as " Exciting " signings. So, probably wrongly, I'm assuming BR has a masterstroke up his sleeve.
I am having difficulty thinking what an exciting signing would be, certainly not an English ( British ) player, no top Spanish players will settle for a Europa League competition, same goes for most of top players in Europe - I believe BR will be very successful with us, but I think he will do it with basically the same squad we already have, but will instill a philosophy of winning and let everyone know they will have to fight for a starting place, with very few guaranteed starters.

Ed's can you please post as there are way too many reds thinking that Fabio Borini ain't good enough. no disrespect intended to them, but they need to just watch Borini at any of the clubs he has been, and then they will know he is truely sublime.

Fabio Borini has been compared to Filippo Inzaghi by Carlo Anchelotti. He reminds me in someways of Rushie and Robbie. Rushie, because he very often strokes the ball home in a very calm way and Robbie, because he is a fantastic finisher with either foot and works really hard.

Great with both feet, great movement on and off the ball, decisive finisher, extremely hardworking, natural game intelligence, a nose for goal and seriously lads, he is only 21, but he finishes with the maturity of a 30 year old Italian striker.

This is the kind of striker we have always been looking for. Top, top lad. You watch, he will become a real asset for LFC next season.

Now all we need is Joe Alleen for the box to box midfielder next to Gerrard or Lucas, Ramirez for right wing and that will be it.

Spend the money on Munian instead of borini and Allen but keep carrol. Then play Ramirez in the attacking midfield role with Suarez right and Munian left.

Thanks for the sensible post Andy.

Saved me the bother of getting annoyed at the Borini-bashers. Just getting in the Italian squad for a major tournament shows his class & illustrates the high regard he is held in - yet people are talking about him like he's a nobody. He and Balotelli are the Italian strike-force of the future, I think his signing would be quite a coup. Plus everyone who ever coached him seems to credit his hard-work and good attitude.

I like that - and hard-work is the minimum requirement in a Rodgers side, so he should fit in well. He hasn't played much either, yet has almost a 1 in 2 strike-rate. So young... who knows how good he could be.

Lots of potential. I hope we get him too.

I know we don't know for definite who the four out's are but surely Adam and Spearing must be on the chop list, as if we sign someone like Ramirez and Alonso then I really cant see how Adam will fit in at all! And spearing doesn't cut it at this level for me which is disappointing as he is a local lad.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mta9GD1y0Vs

very neat piece of skill from Suso, dont know if any of our first team players can actually do this! despite Suarez being a very technical player, he doesnt have that much tricks, good ball control though.

Kaizer

Suarez is strange to watch. When he runs at a player he seems to have lost control of the ball and next thing you know he's around the other side of him away.

10 Jul 2012 08:47:23
I see Suso seems to be growing into his hype, he is definitely a Rodgers type of player, I think he is very similar to David Silva in the fact that Silva took a season to settle in the EPL and at that time many people thought he was too light weight to compete. I think Suso will be the same he will need time to find his feet in he first team but he has the potential to be as good as Silva.

Munian will be the player singed this week. Wait and see. {Ed022's Note - It's much like we 'singed' Caroline. You know, Sweet Caroline? Or as we Liverpool fans prefer - Sweet Carroll Nine.}

10 Jul 2012 08:45:18
My 4 out:

Kuyt (gone)
Maxi (soon to be gone)
Aqua (needs to be gone)
Spearing (to make room for a better CDM)

Carroll is needed. He has something non of our players have. All this he can't fit the system is crap. He showed he can bring the ball down and pass it. Its more important to be technical in the middle which we have. He's the last ball man. The battering ram. Him and Suarez are the only strikers we have we need at least three next season. Hope my dreams of Rondon come true.

Morning eds, what are the chances of jordy classie? Is there any interest at all and what would he cost? He is a class act (excuse the pun) it doesn't seem that he will cost too much either but in a few seasons I believe his value will treble at least. Iv tried the search function but my phone doesn't seem to agree with it for some strange reason. Also any chance of a player profile on him? Thanks in advance for you reply. {Ed022's Note - There has been much speculation regarding him, however I know of no interest from Liverpool at this time.}

Kaka on loan with Alonso on return and Ramirez - sounds like a passing type of technical skillful midfield we need to play possession football with the ability to penetrate (which is what we missed last year)... Adam and Hendo goodnight... then we will look for a striker who is goal poacher ala Graham but better!

Before you hit disagree - I'm just dreaming not saying okay. ;-)

With 4 in 4 out this is my take on it. Kuyt gone, maxi going, aqua not wanting to be here so going and this leaves one more. We are short up top so why see another striker

Further to the Caroll situation - we had better sign someone a bit more exciting than Borini if we are letting a 35 million pound striker go! Chelsea's signings are what I call exciting. I'm bemused and I pray I'm jumping the gun. Alonso and higuin would be exciting. Benefit of the doubt Mr Rodgers - I'm a bit worried cos it looks like Borini.
I didn't buy there is only a handful of players who could make a difference to us either, 7 teams finished above us last term - 6 of them comfortably - please don't be seduced into thinking we are better than we are.

We had the best midfield in the prem 3 years ago - now Im not sure who our midfield actually is.

"Managers are judged by their signings " - Steven Gerrard.

He has a fairly good scoring record so far does borini but I'm not convinced he is an improvement on Carroll. We are basically bringing in another striker with little to no Prem experience. Just seems silly that we spent a year acclimatizing Carroll and just as he is showing signs of improving we consider selling.

I was in Italy for the last couple of months and when the rumour started I asked a couple of people, some rate him some don't. Roberto Baggio thinks he is decent but needs to learn when to release the ball.

What is it with us and getting ripped off by the Italians. I'd let him go for 30 million and no less and only if Andy really wanted out, and don't give me this bull about not fitting in - I thought that originally but he's an England international isn't he? - I don't believe this one

Hi Guys

I believe that if the rumour of Andy C came from Milan, then surely there has to be something in it.

Milan usually do not keep quiet about their targets.

I believe that the exciting player coming in will positively surprise all.

BR has stated that LFC have made 3 or 4 enquiries. I think he slipped up there. That's how many signings he will make 3 or 4.

If Andy C goes then 4, if not then 3.

Not sure who the possible signings might be BUT some of the players that are linked are
Allen
Borini
Ramirez
Granero
Sturridge
Moses

If I missed anybody add the name and take your pick who would excite you.

For me it would have to be either Allen or Ramirez.

They both have something to really offer the team that we lack in creativity, retaining the ball and moving forward into scoring positions.

I definitely will be happy with those 2 signing for us. Young, determined and ambitious and they will definitely lift the quality of play at LFC.

Thanks in advance for reading and commenting. Really would like to read what you guys out there think.

YNWA-SA

I would also like Allen or Ramirez - & Borini too if I'm greedy. Granero would be a nice signing too... particularly if a few from the likes of Cole, Aqua, Adam or Spearing were to leave.

He's a hard-worker and good on the ball. But we have a lot of central midfielders atm (although there's room for them in Rodgers preferred system).

Moses & Sturridge I'm not too fussed on - but they could win me over - who knows? Looking forward to seeing what happens. I have no idea atm what we'll be like next season - no clue how good (or bad) we'll be - or what players will still be around by the end of August. It'll be interesting. I hope we hit the ground running though.

Sorry for the cut and paste but just seen this

"He is reportedly wanted on a season-long by AC Milan, and Rodgers said in the Daily Telegraph: "It's something I would have to look at, I have to be honest.

"I'm not going to sit here and say I will never let anyone go on loan, then come in here in two weeks and a player's gone, and you're saying 'you said you wouldn't let them go'.

"There are many things to going on loan. Is it going to be beneficial for the club, that's the most important thing?

"Sometimes a player going out on loan - in general, not just Andy - can benefit the club in the long term.

"It gets them game experience, and they come back a better player, a more confident one. Certainly more so than if they've been sitting on the bench for the majority of the season.

"Andy's always going to be linked with clubs, whether he was here or not. I have spoken to him on his holidays, he knows exactly where he stands, but I have had no inquiries about him."

I though Andy C was coming into a bit of form towards the end of the season surely it would daft to send him on loan especially if we are bring borini in. Is he any better?

I agree with Ed022's stance on the Borini rumours. I can't see it happening. As he said, he isn't keen on returning to England. It seems to be completely conjured up by the English media, as there is nothing coming out of Italy, not even rumours. It seems that any player that has played under Rodgers and are half decent are gonna be linked with us, whether it's Sturridge or Borini. Even Swansea players are being linked, even though there is an agreement between the two clubs for Liverpool not to sign any Swansea players within a year.

09 Jul 2012 23:06:30
I asked Ed002 about the possibility of Lass Diarra being sold, who confirmed he would likely be sold. I was wondering Ed022's opinion about him possibly being a target. We really need another defensive midfielder (Lucas and Spearing the only one's), and Rodgers does know Mourinho so could you see it being realistic.

LH1992 {Ed022's Note - I couldn't rule out seeing Diarra as a target, as he has bags of experience and is technically class as a CDM, which Liverpool are certainly looking for. As a player, I'd say Diarra would be extremely good cover for Lucas, but I don't think he'd be happy on the bench. Perhaps a 4 2 3 1 formation with Lucas and Diarra in could be an option - much like the Xabi and Masch era? Who knows.}

10 Jul 2012 07:20:13
Could the player possibly be Muniain or Llorente?

HullRED

Its either Gaston Ramirez or Fabio Borini.

O'seunfunmi (Anfield Red)

10 Jul 2012 07:19:23
Not expecting any big world class signings here, we all need to be realistic and realise it's gonna take time before we can attract those type of players. The main objective is to get in the top four! Must admit i would love alonso back though and why not? He has already won la liga with real madrid so maybe he has unfinished business with us :-)

10 Jul 2012 07:57:53
Borini and Dempsey to be announced this week, then in approximately 3 weeks Ramirez and then finally I am not sure but I do believe it will be one from Kjaer, Krasic or Sissoko.

LFCBilly

Two crap players who are not good enough to play for Liverpool.

we have dropped from the top four epl position, after signing in players that we thought would do the business for LFC. Now we are talking about only signing a few to get back our top four position.

The question is if the same players weren't able to do the business last year why are we still holding to them?
We buy and buy yet our resale value is never there. Its a disappointing subject, but we need quality to compete irrespective of the way we will be playing this season.

We have to give some of those players who came in last year time to settle. I know we would have expected them to hit the ground running having had premiership experience but new club, training, tactics etc all make it difficult for players to adjust. I honestly believe there is a place at Liverpool for Henderson, Carroll and to some extent Adam and Downing. Tweaking the team and allowing those there to prove themselves is probably the best way forward. Otherwise we have a major overhaul and end up in yet more transition and people complaining players have not settled in after short periods.

We have a good squad, only 2 sides outplayed us last year, turn the ridiculous amount of draws at home into wins, turn a better percentage of the chances we created into goals, then we have no problem whatsoever, so the players we have are good enough, new manager, new ideas, new motivation - why do we need a massive overhaul bringing in unproven PL players? Answer is we don't.

10 Jul 2012 02:37:34
Wish we would stop going on about the likes of alonso and kaka joining they won't! Neither will benzema. We have signed an average at best striker in borini a Chelsea reject.

10 Jul 2012 02:30:15
Hi Eds,
great work on the site, i was just wondering how good do people actually expect sterling and suso to become
thanks,
REDS 4 LIFE {Ed002's Note - Measured how?}

10 Jul 2012 02:29:55
why isnt anybody linking us with any rm/rw players its the most obvious position we need with not having anybody at all to play there since kuyts sale an the style of rodgers plays is 2 fast goal scoring wingers. i 100% believe we will sign one probably our first signing

10 Jul 2012 02:18:47
Heard we might be re-signing xabi alonso, any truth in that? Think that would be a quality signing as we should never have sold him in the first place, best player ever to play at anfield along with gerrard! Seems that he might also but signing borini. not so keen myself but hope he proves me wrong! Would love to see gaston ramirez sign as i think he would be a kop hero in years to come and afellay, i think hes amazing.

Tom

10 Jul 2012 02:11:21
Trying to figure out who the exciting signing will be
Not Ramirez because he is in olympic squad so cant come on pre-season
Not Boroni because we would have to pay 20 million and he wont splash cash like that
Not Granero because we just got a bid rejected apparently and hope we dont get him as i dont rate him personally
I personally think it will be a midfielder that will surprise us all that you dont see us being linked to that often but maybe someone we are linked to like Xabi alonso perhaps? but the Eds say that unlikely and there words are practically gospel to me ( sorry for brown nosing ) i think perhaps it could be Krasic or Afellay or the slimest chance of Alonso but i dont know i dont have sources just common sense

Cheers , Zincho

Only alonso and Ramirez will excite me out of that lot.

10 Jul 2012 02:10:50
Clint Dempsey will join in the next couple of days. His odds are now 1/5 to join. Im not sure im happy with this signing but hes a proven goalscorer so we must give him a chance. What position can he take up eds ?

Hes clearly coming as reserve keeper doh!
redtilimdead

10 Jul 2012 00:57:29
i think moussa dembele will be the first signing, based on nothing other than him being a player who i believe rodgers would fancy and is a realistic possibilty and possibly were the depmsey rumours have came for, just a wild hopeful guess rather than the borini's and granero shouts

10 Jul 2012 00:54:10
Obviously you don't know defiantly who we are going to sign but who do you reckon is most likely to be signed, also heard a rumour that Dale Jennings is interested in a move back to the prem any chance?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - The most likely right now appears to be Boini.}

09 Jul 2012 23:56:57
Hello eds.. was watching ESPN press pass and Robbie Earle seems to think Carroll won't fit BR style of play n will most likely be moved on, wether it be on loan or sold. What's ur take on this. Thanks eds!

Iced Red {Ed002's Note - I think he will move if an acceptable bid is made.}

09 Jul 2012 23:39:18
Hi Eds,

Not a rumour but going to Liverpool vs Roma at Fenway later this month. Do you know where the team will be training while in Boston and if training will be open to the public? Looking forward to the new season and hopefully a few key signings soon! YNWA from Canada!

Axeman16 {Ed002's Note - Someone suggested Harvard.}

10 Jul 2012 06:30:16
Everyone is talking about borini being the signing but I swear brenden said it could be 2 this week

10 Jul 2012 04:38:27
So FOUR players out, Will it include Kuyt?
If not then probably, spearing/adam , aqualini, maxi and maybe Carroll.
Then, there will a very good chance to sign a couple of strikers, one winger and a CM.

Ideally, the cm should be Allen and the winger Ramirez. As for the strikers, i hope one of them is the big signing and the other a decent backup.

Corvin

During my current trip to Canada, I saw 2 things that really interested me. By the way, my company was nice enough to book m a room with a vibrating toilet so my typing may have lots of spelling errors.

But anyways, one has to do while I was in jasper, alberta Canada, I saw an Indian family(British) who happen to have a Manchester united jersey on. But what really got me is where they are wearing it. IN THE SALT WATER POOL. Liverpool fans try to wear their jersey everywhere they can but they have the respect to keep their jerseys from being damaged. This led me to think that most non-lp fans don't really care about the club but just really want to say that they are fans of that club.

And my second thing, has nothing to do with Liverpool but more of a small scouting report.
I noticed another young indian child, probably around the age or 14 named kavin Patel. He was playing in a game with 25 year olds and totally dominating them. The men where not casual players, they were semiprofessionals who trained daily in the hope of becoming a pro. This led me to think that the world is full of undiscovered talent from every country.
AnfieldUSA {Ed016's Note - Alberta is full of hicks, no one has a clue about football. Being raised in England when I play soccer with people here I dominate them.}

Yes but this guy was playing with people 12 years older. But I agree, it's like the Texas of Canada.
AnfieldUSA

There's a 14 year old kid who plays for a local U15 team, I watched him train with the first team last week & he totally destroyed most of these first team players. This kid has everything pace, great ball control, great at one touch football & a goal machine...

Dave

Ed0016, off topic, is there anywhere in Calgary to get a game once or twice a week? tried looking but cannot find anything?
Lee73 {Ed016's Note - There was something at the soccer dome up by the stadium, however it only ran till May. Try the S.E soccer dome or Subway soccer centre I think it is called. It's pretty rough trying to find anything here though mate. Especially once you're over 18}

Football's the 4th most followed sport in Canada behind Hockey, Basketball and American Handball (NFL) and the most participated in sport here. Problem is, just like rugby, insurance costs are high and there's a reluctance to pump vast amounts of money into programmes for kids to develop football skills so it's more or less forgotten about, or at least left to run at local level, which isn't organized efficiently at this level. I do miss hitting the pub for a few jars and a few mates for Saturday afternoon 3pm kick off.

(AnfieldUSA, did you get to Banff mate? It's a stone throw from Calgary so I try to get there when I can. Love it up there!)

Cuchulainn's Hounds {Ed016's Note - Banffs nice every once in a while. However it is just overrun with tourists. Beautiful to get out of the mountains, but Calgary is a very conservative city. I find the people rude and lack much needed world knowledge.}

It's a good point Ed016,as much as I love the place, I can think of a fair few off the top of my head already that could do with 'spreading their wings' a bit too.

Lee mate, from what I hear, the Ship and Anchor downtown on 17th Ave and 5th Street SW shows the Premier league games each week mate.Think it covers CL matches as well.

I think the player BR was talking about is Fabio Borini. People have been making a big deal out of the words "exciting" and "love" which BR used, thinking this means a huge name player. I doubt it, it suggests to me that a) Rodgers feels the need to talk the player up as he may be less well known and b) Rodgers has worked with the player before as he's speaking as though he knows an awful lot about him for someone who's been scouted for a couple of weeks. I think Borini could be a big hit so don't be disappointed if it does turn out to be him

Red Ollie

Look at the players roy worked with and then brought them to lfc , did not work.
sadly lfc fans know that in this day and age of the pl ,star players win.

10 Jul 2012 00:07:15
Sorry Eds I know you said you would only answer the Borini thing once but I would like to know what you mean by oanic journalism? Wheres the panic froma nd why. Dunno if you have to go over the Borini thing to answer. If other queries are anything to go by I will not get an answer

10 Jul 2012 01:12:48
For all the people saying if its Baroni coming that it is not exactly exciting..honestly what do you expect Rodgers to say about new players coming in?
If it is Baroni he is not going to say we have a average player who can be quite exciting from time to time is he?

Also, while i freely admit i do not know anymore of less than most i have to say i seriously doubt we would get Alonso or kaka, or anyone else who is on crazy wages who are not even that young anymore. It just goes against everything we are putting our money into.

Last thing, i am not saying Dempsey would rock my boat either but people talk about him like he is below average? Look at his stats..his goal to game ration is better than gerrards and while he does not have the same vision, or ability in most areas he is consistantly good and hard working

gareth

Baroni? Do you mean Baron Greenback, Dangermouse's arch nemisis? Si Si Baroni!

My point on the Dempsey on the squad list thing would be that it hasn't even been updated to include Jordan Ibe who joined ages ago (neither in first team or academy squad according to those lists)

Latest on gaston Ramirez ?ed {Ed016's Note - Try the search function, literally does exactly what you asked}

I dont understand the eds obsession with the search function?

The poster has asked for an "UPDATE" on ramirez. Things in football change very quickly and very dramatically in the space of a few hours thats why we ask for an update.

I dont want to use the search function and read an eds comment from 2 or 3 days ago, I want to know if there have been any recent developments and by recent I dont mean 8 hours ago I mean the last couple of hours.

Please bear this in mind next time you refer us to the search function mate. It takes less effort to just answer the question. {Ed022's Note - I understand your point, but we get around 800 posts on Ramirez per day, all saying the same thing. Would you remain happy to answer each and every one of them with the long list of clubs interested, the latest from his agent etc etc? If you would, then you're a liar. I personally say yes or no when a question is asked, but it is within Ed016's right to ask people to use the search function, as no buggar on this site seems to understand why it's there!}

No I appreciate what you're saying, I would not be keen having to respond to hundreds of posts per day to the same question.

But I cant believe after all these years that you guys havent found a way to deal with this.

You should have some sort of system in place that allows visiters to the site easy access to any question. For example you would have a separate page with a list of questions that have already been answered.

I know this is not far off from using the search function but its about userability. For some reason us posters just dont appreciate this search function business and surely you eds must realise this by now. Are you gonna spend your life telling us to rtfp? Its getting silly.

Clearly you need to have a more user-friendly system in place.

Just sayin. {Ed022's Note - There is a questions page that not many people seem to use anymore. Everytime someone asks me a question I always post it there so other can see it. When the site first started, that used to be the busiest page - now not so much.}

Ed022,
Maybe freeze the link to it on the right, like the post function?
save having to scroll to top to "use" it ;0)
Piddy. {Ed022's Note - The funny thing is, the post form is right next to the search function.}

Clint Dempsey is a target, and a decent one, but surely BR' would knows the lfc supporters wouldn't be excited by him. I'm hoping its someone else, still like dempsey though I heard Fulham are willing to accept a smaller fee with a fringe player? Any truth in that?

I have heard that BR hasn't been given a set amount of money and that he has the money available for the players he feels he needs to improve the sqaud

Hope so as a bunch of average players will not endear him to the majority of the fans sadly and he needs them on his side from the off. best wishes to BR and all at lfc .

10 Jul 2012 00:08:27
Dont know if its photoshopped or what not but there is a photo floating around the internet that lists Dempsey in the Liverpool squad.

Apparently it appeared on the official website and then was quickly taken down

09 Jul 2012 23:58:15
LIVERPOOL FC boss Brendan Rodgers has described Jay Spearing as a player with "the soul of the club in his heart."
The young midfielder addressed the media with his new manager at Anfield today ahead of the Reds' pre-season tour of North America. (Well my soul of the club is in my heart but am not good enough to play for the club I love I want to like most but am not good enough brendon.IMO one of king kennys downfalls was sticking with spearing he,s probley only championship level sell him an just be brutally honest the fans will love you for it.

A lot of people speculating about Borini signing this week and the majority seem uninspired, seeing him as a backup striker. Not an "exciting" signing in my opinion, whilst happy he would add depth to the squad, for me this would not show the rest of the Prem that we mean business.

Ramirez or Xabi would definately show more ambition!

Fingers crossed

I'm sure we have scouts at the u-19 euros, but does anyone (eds included) have any idea if we are having a serious look at any players or more of a cursory look?

09 Jul 2012 23:18:07
i know it unlikely but do you think wesley sneijder would be good signing as he 1 of hollands only good players at euro 2012, also several papers last week said he available as low as 20m

i personally love him as a player, what r ur thoughts eds? {Ed001's Note - don't rate him that highly, not 20m, especially not as he is asking for 200k a week.}

Ed,sneijder is one off the best midfielders in the world,he has a shot in both legs and reads the game.mourinho bought him at inter often stated that he would love him at madrid but that things had happened in the past.he will give you 15 goals and 20 assist a season.same class as gerrard.

09 Jul 2012 23:36:01
i cannot wait to find out who it is but tbh he said the player will excite the fans so u would presume its no1 like moses, dempsey because we havent been raving over them. dont get me wrong im not 1 of the idiots who thinks were getting cavani, ramirez, jovetic

09 Jul 2012 23:15:28
Hello Eds and Macca
If we sign Borini (which I Have my doubts) surely he would not be the player BR was referring to, as a player who would excite the fans and be a player who the fans would absolutely love. I am not disrespecting Borini
I don't believe he is that familiar with Reds fans and I could not see fans reacting the way BR said the fans would react to this mystery signing.
The way I interpret the statement is, the player is high profile and renowned for technical ability and excites football fans.
I'm not to familiar with Borini and i apologise to anyone who thinks he fits the bill, I personally would be surprised if he is the one.
Do any of the ED's think we will sign a player who has not been linked with yet?
My predictions are as follows:
1)Iker Muniain. The Player that will excite fans.
2) Granero
3)Sturidge
4)Allen
MY predictions are based on affordability and the areas where we are short on quality.
It's just my opinion, so no need for snide remarks. this is for posters not EDS
I am totally intrigued to who the mystery player is and annoyed with not knowing as it will play on my mind all night. Thanks BR.

Thank EDS for a great, mad and addictive site.

Red Robin.
{Ed016's Note - I'm still pretty sure still no one but BR and the owners know who we are signing.}

My predictions are Ramirez Munian higuain and samaras. All world class players.

Cheers samaras.

Top 4 finish with the likes of borini don't think so Rooney,van Persie ,balotelli,Torres must be laughing there heads off now. {Ed016's Note - Borini story is conjured up nonsense}

The Times, the BBC and Macca all saying Borini's happening. Surely that indicates that something may be happening there

09 Jul 2012 23:14:25
just a dream but imagine it was Cavini,just a dream though,it will be some one like demba BA {Ed016's Note - There is absolutely zero evidence to say it would be either, therefore your reasoning is unfounded. All I can say is after listening to Rogers I can say I have full faith in him and that all us fans will be happy.}

09 Jul 2012 23:13:34
I kind ov feel sorry for are 1st player to sign ,because we all now getting maybe be a little carried away, but I do 100 % believe in BR and owners I'm sure they no wot they doing ,don't know about you lot but feel like a kid on christmas eve just waiting to c wot got for Christmas day ,ha ha feel like big kid ,YNWA Lfc linc
