11 Jul 2017 11:49:01
Just so we are clear, the pyramid tea bags diffuse so much better.

10 Jul 2017 19:27:43
Ed002.

Do you get to go any of the matches? As you're a Chelsea boy, Stamford Bridge.?

Some cracking boozers around Parson's Green for a pre match pint.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I alway s go to afew games a year - maybe in Marseille, perhaps in Chelsea or maynbe elsewhere.}

10 Jul 2017 22:39:50
Signing a new left back (probably/ possibly Robertson) will be great for us in more ways than one, personally I think Milner is going to be pushed further upfield and Klopp may use Flannagan or Gomez as cover, both are capable enough to play there. Failing that we must have a few players from the academy that deserve an opportunity. I just think Milner is better use to us further forward and he shouldn't even be considered to play left back.
Thoughts?

11 Jul 2017 01:42:18
Flanagan barely got a match last year on loan. Sadly it looks like his injuries have taken a toll. I highly doubt he has a chance of making our bench this year.

10 Jul 2017 23:52:19
Personally I would be surprised if Flanno features. I hope I'm wrong and he rediscovers form and fitness.

11 Jul 2017 06:32:59
Flanno seems a top lad and wears his heart on his sleeve. Sadly for him I agree injuries look to have taken their toll. I personally think it would be best for him to move on and start the rebuild process of his career. He needs to be at a club where if fit he is starting week in week out and I think that may involve him dropping down a division at least.

11 Jul 2017 08:01:24
I think Milner will play right back.

10 Jul 2017 23:52:19
Personally I would be surprised if Flanno features. I hope I'm wrong and he rediscovers form and fitness.

11 Jul 2017 10:40:20
I really don't see any reason for people to think Milner will play anywhere other than left back. He was one of the best in that position last year. (Granted most lbs are average enough) but also he should not and will not be let near our midfield. He will be left back now we didn't get our 1st choice target. With Robertson as a 2nd choice who gets plenty of games.

10 Jul 2017 22:35:16
VERRATI to BARCA, COUTINHO to PSG,
and. MBAPPE to LFC, stranger things have happened, one transfer could kick the whole thing off.

Believable1 Unbelievable18

10 Jul 2017 23:10:32
Mbappe? please.

10 Jul 2017 23:23:02
I'm trying to think of one stranger thing but I've got nothing!

11 Jul 2017 12:29:52
Jonathon Woodgate to Real Madrid was stranger.

10 Jul 2017 22:32:29
So with Van Dyke and Keita looking unlikely, who do you guys see/ want as alternatives to them?
Or do you think will opt to not sign any CB or CM and go with who we already got?
It will be interresting to see if Klopp wanted the players or the position
Personally I would love for us to give some of the youngsters a shot instead of buying for buyings sake!

Keep up the good work eds! been a long time reader of the page and I really appreciate the work!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

10 Jul 2017 23:01:01
I really hope we don't go and buy for the sake of buying. My opinion is, if they don't improve the starting 11, don't buy them. Unless it's someone like Solanke with a lot of potential.

10 Jul 2017 23:06:56
I agree about giving youngsters their chance, totally. We need to prioritise full back positions before anything in my opinion. I can't see us getting a CB this window. I do still think we'll sign Ox though.

10 Jul 2017 23:58:16
I think Keita's alternative is already a Liverpool player. His pusuit is justified on the opportunity to strengthen the starting 11 based on Keita's percieved outstanding talent.
The same applies to VVD, in terms of strengthening, however this is a position where we have less strength, both in the 1st 11 and in depth. We may sign another cb. Not sure who though, Mammanna?

10 Jul 2017 23:50:59
all depends on who is available. i would rather spend the money on both left and right fbs.

10 Jul 2017 23:50:59
all depends on who is available. i would rather spend the money on both left and right fbs.

11 Jul 2017 10:45:40
I just want klopp to pull a top quality Cb from some random German team. Doesn't he know some surely. I've hear the Germans are decent at defending.
I can't see us signing a right back. Clyne is moreally than capable there and TAA is probably our most exciting prospect. I expect him to get more games this year.

10 Jul 2017 21:22:56
John Barnes, what a player. Was my first 'Kop Idol'. Who was yours?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - kevin keegan..

10 Jul 2017 21:41:55
Beardsley hands down loved him.

10 Jul 2017 21:47:37
King Kenny.

10 Jul 2017 21:51:28
Kenny Dalglish.

10 Jul 2017 21:55:33
Luis Suarez.

10 Jul 2017 21:58:38
Jan molby, one of the best if not the best readers of the game I've seen to this day.

10 Jul 2017 22:00:30
King Kenny.

10 Jul 2017 22:04:13
Dalglish.

10 Jul 2017 22:09:29
Will Young.

{Ed025's Note - good stuff PS..

10 Jul 2017 22:12:33
Ian Rush.

10 Jul 2017 22:15:45
El Nino. Only been watching since '04 though.

10 Jul 2017 22:31:53
Has to be Kenny Dalglish.

10 Jul 2017 22:37:16
As a young kid rush
As a teenager macmanaman
As a young adult Stevie G
As a older adult Suarez

But always loved Steve mcmohan and jan molby. RAMBOOOOOOOO.

10 Jul 2017 22:48:39
Terry Mac.

10 Jul 2017 22:48:42
Steve McManaman, Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen were all favourites growing up. But I have to say Michael Owen was hands down my idol. And who can forget the tv show "hero to zero" and Michael Owen soccer skills!

tldr; Michael Owen.

10 Jul 2017 23:00:57
Sami Hyypia was my idol. I adored Fowler and Owen in my early days.

10 Jul 2017 23:01:53
Fowler.

10 Jul 2017 23:08:26
Glenn hysen.

10 Jul 2017 23:13:36
I only seen the endish of Fowler, Owen I liked, Stevie g made me get out my seat but I can't forget the feeling when Fernando Torres left. Looking back at it now lfc done well to get what they got for him but in his prime I thought he was amazing.

10 Jul 2017 23:24:24
Ray Houghton.

10 Jul 2017 23:29:29
lRaykennedy David Johnson, Terry mc, Alan Hansen, King Kenny, Ronnie whelan, Steve mcmahon, Johnny Barnes, Peter Beardsley, suarez, Gerrard, coutinho, Mane and Souness. Great players over the years for me.

10 Jul 2017 23:40:45
Ray Clemence.

11 Jul 2017 00:04:08
John Barnes.

11 Jul 2017 00:24:07
Jan Molby.

11 Jul 2017 01:13:33
Ian Callaghan. As a 6 year old boy I got the 27 bus on Upper Warwick Street with my dad to go to my first match and Ian got the same bus at the same stop with his own boots in a black Admiral bag. Legend and hero.

11 Jul 2017 02:14:59
First favorite was Owen and why I got interested in the club as an American teenager at a time when European football was almost never on TV. Been with the club since. loved Gerrard but Torres leaving was a bitter pill to swallow as I honestly thought Suarez and Torres would have been dynamite. favorite player at this time is Firmino although I would have bought Coutinhos jersey instead if I didn't think he would go to Barcelona last season!

11 Jul 2017 05:45:06
Bearsley and Barne for me!

11 Jul 2017 06:11:28
Daniel Agger and Dirk Kuyt.

11 Jul 2017 06:24:34
The dagger and for Canon of a left foot reason riise.

11 Jul 2017 07:09:06

Teens era: Rush, Dalglish, Beardsley, Barnes, Molby, Hansen, Lawrenson
Post-teens: Finnan, Hyppia, McManaman, God, Berger
Old-age: Torres, Gerrard, Carragher, Suarez.

11 Jul 2017 08:20:51
Djimi traore.

11 Jul 2017 08:23:43
Emile Heskey.

11 Jul 2017 09:30:34
Jamie Redknapp, for about a year or two it looked like he was going to be world class (at least that's what teenage me thought)

11 Jul 2017 09:39:43
Ian rush and Bruce Grobelaar.

Been supporting since 1981.

11 Jul 2017 09:43:44
When i was really young Owen and Fowler and after he moved on Gerrard and Torres.
I "discovered" Torres when he was at atlethico and loved his style of football. One Year later he came to Liverpool and become a hero but Gerrard has been my Idol growing up.

11 Jul 2017 10:26:02
Ian Rush, absolute legend in every sense of the word!

11 Jul 2017 10:33:41
Jose Enrique.

11 Jul 2017 11:05:59
First was Fowler probably - bit too young to have seen either Rush or Barnes in their prime. Liked McManaman as well until he buggered off to Real Madrid on a free.

11 Jul 2017 11:30:29
titi kamara.

11 Jul 2017 12:33:55
The entire 2005 Champions League winning side. Unreal that we pulled that off.

11 Jul 2017 14:24:41
Keegan then dalglish. But loads of others souness torres etc amazing looking back.

11 Jul 2017 14:48:54
Mcmanamam.

10 Jul 2017 21:11:34
Long time since i've been able to post, for lots of reasons. youve probably all forgotten me but I was a regular poster a while back. Great to come back to my 'goto' site. i've been reading some of the posts and responses from the Eds and I see Ed002 hasn't lost any of her humour. I hope to be posting again real soon but in the meantime, great site and well done Eds for maintaining your calm in a sea of adversity. Personally I think Klopp is building a good team now and we have some brilliant players. Mane, Coutinho, Lallana, Firmino, Salah and young Solenko looks a very promising talent ( amongst the many others we now have )

Hi Tel 🤠.

10 Jul 2017 21:52:22
Welcome back mate!

10 Jul 2017 23:02:27
Where'd you go?

10 Jul 2017 23:27:13
Thanks for telling us Tel. Got any intel Tel? If so please tell us Tel ;-)

11 Jul 2017 05:59:57
Welcome back Tel. It certainly has been a while.

10 Jul 2017 20:48:53
Been following the site for years but not posted much. What do the Eds feel about Arnautovic? I feel he is a really underrated player and is a different option to what we have.

I remember watching Goals on Sunday a while back and Berbatov was on saying that his movement is unbelieveable and showed a load of clips.

Seems to be relatively cheap considering the prices we are seeing.

Also think Klopp could get the best out of him.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - i would love everton to get him mate..

10 Jul 2017 21:50:32
Bang average. perfect for Everton :) sorry Ed025.again.

{Ed025's Note - in a damn good side like everton with better players around him i think he could be awesome reaper.

10 Jul 2017 22:14:46
I think he's a good player, could get better in the Liverpool team and 15m is reasonable in today's market.

10 Jul 2017 22:29:34
I rate him highly, his tracking back is second to none and looks strong as an ox! (Not THE ox) also knows where the net is. Had a quiet second half to the season but is playing in a rubbish side. Can do a lot better than stoke!

10 Jul 2017 22:34:52
He's decent but I wouldn't be crying get out for him. Might go to. a. bigger club and be brilliant though cause he does sometimes look like he thinks he is too good for Stoke. Has a bit of an ego, will just have to wait and see if that a good thing like Ibra or a bad thing like Balo.

10 Jul 2017 23:14:57
Id have him at Liverpool tomorrow.

11 Jul 2017 00:21:55
Has both skill and an attitude. We could do worse, but would prefer to stick with what we have.

11 Jul 2017 02:21:26
Don't sign any attacking players unless they are guaranteed to start. There is no one available I would take over our front three and only Keita improves our midfield as far as what we have been linked with goes. We still have a need at left back and center back unless Gomez and Alexander Arnold are ready. Sign Robertson (not as a last resort but because he fills a need for us and is young and adaptable) and let the dice roll. We don't need a lot of additions. one or two smart ones and we have the talent to challenge everyone we play.

11 Jul 2017 07:10:40
Stinking attitude - agree with Reaper.

11 Jul 2017 11:35:27
Does he have a stinking attitude now? I know he's been a bit wild in the past but I don't think he's been too bad at Stoke and he's getting on now so has maybe matured?

10 Jul 2017 21:03:05
Hi eds, just a quick one on solanke. Is this still going to a tribunal or is that over with confirming the signing. Just bit confused. Much appreciated!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its going to tribunal unless liverpool make a fair offer kss..

10 Jul 2017 22:12:07
Thanks ed.

{Ed025's Note - no probs mate..

10 Jul 2017 21:00:28
Question just for fun for all you out there. We have to swap Coutinho for one player from any PL club. Who?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Jul 2017 21:06:44
Tricky one that mate, but would have to be Sanchez for me. I think.

10 Jul 2017 21:06:55
Kante or De Gea.

10 Jul 2017 21:10:43
Hazard.

10 Jul 2017 21:27:56
Arnautovic.

10 Jul 2017 21:29:30
Yupp Hazard all day long for me.

10 Jul 2017 21:51:45
De Gea.

10 Jul 2017 22:04:50
De Gea all day long.

10 Jul 2017 22:18:48
Would be David Silva on ability (best player I've seen in the Premier League in the last 6 or 7 years), but thinking of who suits Klopp's style of football I'd probably say Kante.

10 Jul 2017 22:34:42
Wee Joe Allen because he is a wonderful human being.

10 Jul 2017 22:38:35
Sanchez.

10 Jul 2017 22:57:27
Kante.

10 Jul 2017 22:58:39
Wee Joe Allen because he is a wonderful technician.

10 Jul 2017 23:04:56
Harry Kane.

11 Jul 2017 01:45:15
If we had to sell him, then Kante or De Gea. Both would strengthen our defence.

11 Jul 2017 02:25:38
I would only trade Coutinho for Sanchez, Pogba, Hazard or Kante. I really believe he will be player of the year with us if he can stay healthy and the team continues to improve around him.

10 Jul 2017 20:39:16
I look on this site a good few times in a day and have done for years. It is brilliant I keep hoping to look and there's some good news ie we are sighing some players we need doesn't have to be mega money. I have faith we with get what we need eventually.
Also a thanks to all the eds. keep up the great work.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

10 Jul 2017 20:58:40
Agreed I'm on it every 10 minutes lol.

10 Jul 2017 20:30:40
Ins:
Mohamed Salah - £34million
Dominic Solanke - Tribunal
Virgil Van Dijk - £60million
Naby Keita - £60million
Alex Oxlade Chamberlaine - £20million
Andrew Robertson - £8million

Outs:
Mamadou Sakho - £25million
Alberto Moreno - £15million
Jon Flanagan - £3million
Kevin Stewart - £8million
Sheyi Ojo - Loan
Lazar Markovic - £18million
Danny Ings - Loan.

Believable3 Unbelievable8

10 Jul 2017 20:50:32
Your dreaming Samed. 😂😂.

10 Jul 2017 21:02:37
I'd say Flannaghan is worth more than 3 million. I'm hoping we keep him and at least give him a chance at left back. Could save us 20 million in long run.

I'd say the others will go along with Lucas, Chiravella, Randall and one of Klavan or Gomez, but I'd rather we loan Gomez if Van Dijk comes in, and then move on Klavan.

10 Jul 2017 20:55:45
Them 2 names in the ins list make me cringe, heard them too much. As for Ings, eds do you think it's likely he will be sent out on loan?

{Ed025's Note - it looks likely to me mate..

10 Jul 2017 21:00:02
Would be the best window ever. Doubt we'll have all them on board come September.

10 Jul 2017 22:36:12
I wanna know who's paying 18 mill for markovic. Unless our transfer committee bid for him its not happening.

10 Jul 2017 23:00:50
Flanno should go on loan to a good championship team where he has responsibility.

Villa would be ideal as they are showing ambition.

10 Jul 2017
New image uploaded to the
Liverpool Player Sightings page entitled, Rooney looking the part in his Everton kit!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

10 Jul 2017 20:07:35
Lol about right, Haha!

10 Jul 2017 20:23:55
While we're at it, the Everton kit this year is absolute rubbish. No offense Ed 025 😀.

{Ed025's Note - im not a big fan either reet..mind you they could play in mankini,s for me as long as they win mate.. :)

10 Jul 2017 20:46:22
That's not Wayne Rooney, he has to much hair!

{Ed025's Note - he does it with felt tip mate..

10 Jul 2017 21:12:44
At least you haven't got one of those 'one design fits all' efforts from Nike ed025. They all look awful.

10 Jul 2017 23:03:38
Is it just me or does Rooney look like he's lost weight?

He has something to prove now.

I wonder what's the odds on him scoring home and away against Utd.

10 Jul 2017 19:41:34
Not at all Liverpool related; but WTF with Ruben Neves joining Wolves! This windows are becoming more and more strange. Eds do you recall any other like weird transfers this one?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - you always get the odd one niko but i must admit that one threw me mate..

10 Jul 2017 20:04:50
Personally, I reckon it's a money making scam for that so-called super agent.

{Ed007's Note - Jorge Mendes and the Wolves owners are long time friends and associates and the Chinese owners have a stake in the agent's company. Have a gander at THIS - it's all a bit murky to me and I don't think it'll end well for Wolves.}

10 Jul 2017 20:20:32
Commented on this myself the other day. We got put off by a £45m price tag a year or two ago, Wolves get him for £16m this summer. Weird.
Would he not have had the potential to be a player for us, and be sold at a profit if things didn't work out at that sort of price?
Ah well, done and gone now.

10 Jul 2017 20:46:16
Strikes me as similar to the Tevez and Mascherano deals to West ham. Be interesting to see how he does.

10 Jul 2017 21:16:29
That all does look a bit dodgy.

10 Jul 2017 20:44:56
Thank you ed, it's good to be pointed in the direction of an interesting read. Sometimes I wish instead of being critisised by various folk on here, it might be nice to be pointed in the direction of relevant information so as to gain better understanding of what goes on behind the scenes.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks for that mate, that's appreciated. I just find it's sometimes better to find something that seems to explain things than me trying to fumble around it and getting things wrong.}

10 Jul 2017 19:05:12
is it possible that we could look at amavi from aston villa at left back, as he has just failed a medical at sevilla?

Believable1 Unbelievable7

{Ed025's Note - why would liverpool be looking at players who cant pass a medical?..

10 Jul 2017 20:05:18
Is his injury still affecting him Ed025?

{Ed025's Note - it certainly looks that way mate..

10 Jul 2017 20:27:09
Yeah I regularly buy new cars because they failed an MOT?

Is this serious?

10 Jul 2017 18:38:35
Eds were abouts in the pecking order to you expect Solanke to be mare please? Cups and on the bench now and then? can't see him being ahead of Studge or Origi, with Firmino being first choice.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it really is not that simple.}

10 Jul 2017 19:05:04
Ok mate fair enough. Im just trying to gauge were he fits in that's all?

10 Jul 2017 19:27:17
He could get a chance of the bench, score 2 goals and he could quite easily leap ahead of them all. It all depends on his attitude and desire when he gets his chance.

10 Jul 2017 20:06:49
Klopp seems to really like Firminho up top and him and Coutinho always seem to link well against the bigger teams. I agree and think Firminho will be Klopps first choice striker as he seems to go missing on the wings with the rest competing for a spot on the bench.

10 Jul 2017 20:16:01
Quite a lot of people bang on about us needing a Striker but we have too many already imo. Firmino Sturridge Origi Ings Solanke all vying for one slot. Good options and depth, obviously more games this season.

10 Jul 2017 20:24:37
Look at players such as Rooney, Rashford, Owen, Fowler, young players who were given their chance, took it and never looked back. In all fairness Rashford is still young and fighting for a spot, but you see the point.
Judging by his coolness in the recent internationals he may well have the mentality to take an opportunity given to him. Bare in mind he also has some friendlies to impress in.

10 Jul 2017 20:32:34
Firminio is not a striker. He is decent at pressing and Klops loves to play in week in and out without thinking of two strikers anytime.

Not sure why Solankee made this move to swap Chelsea bench to Liverpool bench. He should have taken an option where he would get to play day in and out.

Cheers.

10 Jul 2017 20:35:02
At least one of Origi or Ings will leave in my opinion and either way, Solanke is probably ahead of them both already. Why would he switch being 4th choice at Chelsea to being 5th choice here? Klopp must have given him promises of done sort.

10 Jul 2017 21:04:56
I think Solanke needs a loan to keep him progressing as does Ings.

10 Jul 2017 23:54:00
Solanke is not ahead of Origi already. How many PL games and goals has he scored so far? How much experience does he have? Daft comment imo.

10 Jul 2017 23:54:00
Solanke is not ahead of Origi already. How many PL games and goals has he scored so far? How much experience does he have? Daft comment imo.

10 Jul 2017 17:48:17
Arnautovic has asked to be placed on the transfer list and the rumour is he's available for £15m.
Would anyone be keen? he is a left winger predominantly but can play all across the park, he's got prem experience and has a good eye for goal.
If we could get the 10-12m being quoted for Markovic I think he would be a good addition, obviously not a position we are desperate to add too but the fees being branded around this summer £15m seems reasonable.

Believable4 Unbelievable12

10 Jul 2017 18:01:46
Bang average and a liability. He is capable of magic once every 10-15 games.

10 Jul 2017 18:05:01
😂😂😂.

10 Jul 2017 18:25:28
He is one of those guys who has absolutely everything needed but cannot apply it. The left wing version of Glen Johnson!

10 Jul 2017 19:19:14
I think he applied it during the 15/ 16 season.

10 Jul 2017 19:29:02
He comes across as a grumpy sod, a bit of a chip on his shoulder. I don't rate him enough, even at £15 million.

10 Jul 2017 19:45:16
Bang average and as mad as a box of frogs. No thanks.

10 Jul 2017 17:30:27
Eds, can you remember the most exciting transfer day you guys have had? I can remember the 2011 January deadline day when we bought Carroll and just being hooked to Sky Sports. All sorts of crazy stuff happening! Can't imagine what these pages were like on that day!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - that was probably about the last time the final day was exciting!}

10 Jul 2017 17:49:32
I'd say the day with the Konoplyanka transfer was fun too. So many contrasting reports.
Although 2011 was a different beast. We were signing everyone from Aguero to Llorente.

10 Jul 2017 17:59:54
I remember that day reading this page. They were a funny few hours. And yet, no where as disrectful as the posts are now.

10 Jul 2017 18:00:14
Kevin Nolan driving Carroll to Melwood made me laugh! Most frustrating was probably 2012 where nothing happened, was sitting in a bar waiting for the Dempsey signing to be announced.

10 Jul 2017 18:02:50
Never understood why we never went for Kono the year after when he was available for free.

10 Jul 2017 18:15:11
I'm just hoping that we have at least incoming transfer coming through on deadline day this year.
Although don't believe it'll be a very pleasant experience for the Eds 😂.

10 Jul 2017 19:22:10
Sky caught Ian Ayre sneaking out the back door at 10pm.

Not a word to fans or anything.

10 Jul 2017 19:46:01
Kovacic. We agreed the fee but the structure lol. 10 years in installment! Ha ha.

10 Jul 2017 21:46:34
Simao, that was a rollercoaster of a deal.

10 Jul 2017 22:55:05
Can the eds clarify when the busiest this site has ever been was and what signing/ news caused it? The vvd tapping up news caused it to be busier than I've seen in a long time, I also remember there being loads of posts when we sold Torres.

10 Jul 2017 23:56:16
When Kenny was shafted?

{Ed001's Note - the busiest the site has ever been was nothing to do with transfers. It was during the takeover by FSG, when it was going back and forward between the States and here in courts.}

10 Jul 2017 16:51:29
1st time poster but read this site religiously great job eds! I am slightly concerned that we seem to be linked to a lot of African players and with the frequency of the African Nations Cup is this a really good idea? Every 2 years for 4-6 weeks you could potentially lose a handful of players. I know it wasn't just losing Mane in January that we nose dived rapidly but I would of rather of had him than not.
Please be nice remember it's my 1St post!

Believable2 Unbelievable7

10 Jul 2017 17:25:09
Welcome to the site and keep posting.

You will get used to Ed's and fellow posters drivel soon.

More concerning is Mane's injury and how he is going to come back from it.

We have only two - Mane and Salah excluding Keita who is yet to be signed to worry about ANC.

Cheers.

10 Jul 2017 20:01:52
Beats me why there is any tournament during a professional season. They could have had it now like the confederations
When's the South American one?

10 Jul 2017 20:30:01
Its not the middle of the season everywhere when AFCON is on.
Why should they change their tournament for the UK?
I agree in some part with the struggle around d players going though, especially as we now have two similar positional players both going in Salah and Mane, but you cannot ignore talent simply because they may miss a few games.

{Ed025's Note - dead right andy..

10 Jul 2017 14:40:59
Any news on why Sturridge and Lovren were missing from training today? Hope not down to injuries or sales.

seems odd that just those two would miss out unless injuries i guess.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

10 Jul 2017 15:30:36
Perhaps they were doing gym work today or had an optician's appointment? Or maybe Lovren's dog was poorly and he had to take him to the vet and Sturridge's car broke down and he was waiting for the AA.

People need to stop picking on everything tiny thing and making it an issue, just let the club and players get on with their business.

10 Jul 2017 16:02:16
Reddawn, just smile and wave.
It's like my mrs has created an account and asking silly questions to try and annoy me haha.

10 Jul 2017 18:28:34
Your Mrs has a tinder account. Not sure about a rumours account though.

10 Jul 2017 20:03:55
Sturridge is getting over that party in LA. Let him sleep.
Lovren doesn't require training, well he does but it has no impact.

10 Jul 2017 14:46:42
Are LFC able to compete with clubs like Everton and Leicester in the transfer market? We thought it was only clubs like Man U and Chelsea. Not anymore.

Believable1 Unbelievable22

10 Jul 2017 15:01:51
Everton have signed a good player in Klassen, but I'm not really concerned about the rest of their transfer business. And I'm much happier paying £39m for Salah than paying any amount of money, much less the £40m Leicester bid, for Sigurdsson.

You do know it's not actually possible for Liverpool to sign every player available for transfer, right?

10 Jul 2017 15:08:40
Everton and Leicester? We have a much bigger/ better profile and pay more wages than both so yes.

10 Jul 2017 15:13:13
Ask yourself if any of the players that Everton signed were players we wanted or were interested in. The answer is a resounding no. Furthermore I'd be disappointed if we signed Keane or Rooney in any case.

10 Jul 2017 15:22:16
Agree with last post above.
Who would get in our team out of the players Everton have signed? Pickford maybe.
Keane no, klassen no, Sandro Ramirez no.
I think they're making good signings to strengthen their squad and consolidate top 7 status. Signings to break into top 4 though. very debatable.
Made even harder of course when they've sold their main source of goals.
I think we've made 2 good signings to date and would be happy with a lb and cb that are an upgrade on what we have.
That'd be a strong title challenging squad for next season.

10 Jul 2017 16:53:37
Just because the likes of Everton and Leicester seem to active in the window at this moment in time doesn't mean we can't compete with them that's just nonense to say the least. let's be honest, none of those Everton signings would make it into our team, Pickford might scrap a place but it's not a full gone conclusion. Patience is the hardest thing for most of us Liverpool fans but at the end of the day if we done most of our business right at the beginning of the window they'd still be fans complaining at the end of the window when other clubs are buying and we're not. There seems to be no pleasing and it's laughable.

10 Jul 2017 16:58:00
Has to be a wind up or a 9 year old.

10 Jul 2017 17:01:40
Not convinced and never have been by Pickford, for me he's not quite big enough to be a genuinely top class keeper as he gets lost under high balls and crosses.

10 Jul 2017 19:16:48
Agree with you in some aspects Hansens but would the size thing apply to the likes of Casillas/ Reina? . Pickford's distribution is second to none, reflexes very good and shot stopping is very good also. Age is on his side so he has plenty of time on his hands to add a bit of muscle and size.

{Ed025's Note - lets be honest...most of you reds dont have a scooby on whats a decent player or not, to say evertons signings would not get in your side confirms my belief that you dont know your arse from your elbows, all your players are great and and far superior to anyone elses yet you have not challenged in the league for 25 years?..deluded..absolutely bloody deluded..

10 Jul 2017 20:00:12
The way Everton are spending and the way we are spending is completely different. Everton are signing decent enough players to try and push on from last year and possibly a good cup run so the type of players they are buying are easier to buy, similar to our business last season signing players from a relegated side, German lower league side etc. This year is a different beast, we are in for a much higher caliber of player, were wanting players to come straight in and make an impact in the champions league and title challenge, unfortunately these players are going to be few and far between and command a large fee so it's either it's drags on for a while trying to get the best deal or you go in and pay over the odds like United have for Lukaku. I'm sure there is movement going on behind the scenes 24 hours a day at a club like Liverpool in the summer window so everyone needs to chill there bones. I think that come August we will have our team in place to go challenging on all fronts, have patience.

10 Jul 2017 20:01:35
Go on then. apart from Pickford maybe, why don't you outlay any of the others that Everton have signed as to how they would make Liverpool's starting 11!?

{Ed025's Note - keane is better than lovren and krappan, sandro is a natural goalscorer which you dont have and rooney has more medals than your entire squad, not to mention klassen who could be anything..need i go on?..

10 Jul 2017 21:16:33
Keane Unknown, proven goal scorer, sturridge over Sandro anytime, Rooney might have won medal but he is well past his best, nowhere near as influential as coutiniho, need I go on.

{Ed025's Note - keane proved last year that he usurps the chuckle brothers you have at CH, sandro is not a wimp and will not spend two months out with a broken fingernail so in before bone china boy, i really like couts though but rooney would play before firmino because he scores goals...case proven..

10 Jul 2017 21:18:24
Forgot one, Salah could be anything but has been playing well in a better league than klassen,

{Ed025's Note - yeah but failed on his last visit to the prem so major major doubts, as there is with klassen..deuce..

11 Jul 2017 00:11:10
Roll on the derby!

10 Jul 2017 14:45:24

Hey guys.
So I have a bit of free time on my hands now, so I wanted to start writing articles again. Anything particular anyone would like me to write on? Or perhaps suggestions
Sorry if this appears to be braggadocious tho.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Jul 2017 14:38:00
I think an article should be wrote on how people should stop asking the same questions. 😂.

10 Jul 2017 14:46:07
An article on why we are so poor at defending and attacking corners would make an interesting read.

10 Jul 2017 15:16:24
I'd love a read about how last seasons signings adapted and how/ why you felt they did well or perhaps not so well.
Also be great to read on who you feel may have a good seadon this season round, and again why.
if poss that would be awesome please.

10 Jul 2017 15:16:44
Origins of Braggadocious.

10 Jul 2017 15:25:01
Marx's theory of diatectic materialism.

10 Jul 2017 15:27:02
In Istanbul and Scarface
Your ideas seems nice and I'll start work on them. If any one has any more suggestions feel free to add.

And Waqas “braggadocious” is “a dialectical word from 19th-century America” that is so seldom used in 21st-century English that it does not have its own entry in the dictionary.

10 Jul 2017 13:23:30
does anyone else think if Andrew Robertsons name was Andre Roberto Da Silva then fans wouldn't be moaning as much?

Believable20 Unbelievable7

10 Jul 2017 13:35:56
100% so.

10 Jul 2017 13:36:17
I favour Robertsino myself.

10 Jul 2017 13:58:19
Why wouldn't they be voicing their concerns if name of said player was as suggested by you?
Or am I missing something here?

Fans on these forums have opinions on Mr Robertson. (presumably) having watched him play. What bearing has his on his quality as a player?

To suggest in the manner that you're doing here that commentators on here are shallow and petty and uninformed is rather unfortunate.

If folks be of the view Andrew Robertson is poor, it's because he's poor. not cause of his naam. Nought to do with it.

The quality of the commentators here is better and beyond that shallowness.

{Ed002's Note - His suggestion is that if he were Brazilian you would all be screaming for him to sign.}

10 Jul 2017 14:29:34
"To suggest in the manner that you're doing here that commentators on here are shallow and petty and uninformed is rather unfortunate"

FLMAO 🤣.

10 Jul 2017 16:13:39
I can't help but read that quote in a posh British upper class accent. How rather unfortunate.

10 Jul 2017 16:23:03
Personally I don't particularly rate him as a player so no a name makes no difference. Hopefully he proves me wrong though.

10 Jul 2017 17:31:56
Wouldn't really matter to me what his name is. The fact he had an average season for Hull in the premier league last year is what I look at. But saying that this season is a clean slate and If the lad comes in and does the business then I wouldn't care if he changed his name to Susan.

10 Jul 2017 18:32:03
No Jayden, haven't you seen J. English Reborn? It's Shushan.

10 Jul 2017 12:49:43
Hey ed01 if possible (banter please)

I have a question on social cohesion in sports and in particular Liverpool. I follow a lot of social media from Liverpool fc and obviously you see players in the cliques, and obviously the south American/ Spanish clique (moreno, firmino, coutinho and Lucas) are quite close.

We are subject to sell moreno and potentially Lucas pending playing time guarantees and his decisions, if those two go what kind of impact does that have on arguably our two best players? Is there anything the club does? Do you think if we sold these two players could it result in an unsettling for these players.

Cheers for your input and all the work, love hearing your insights.

Sydney Red.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - players are used to other players coming and going, so it should not have too much effect. It can sometimes unsettle players, but that is very rare. Lucas is very well liked but it has been known a while that he is probably going sooner rather than later.}

10 Jul 2017 14:16:30
Cheers Ed, have a good day.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate, you too, or evening or whatever it is there now.}

10 Jul 2017 11:23:58
People need to stop thinking our season is depending on signing VVD or Keita. I am still very optimistic about this window and still think we will sign quality players. What gives me hope is the Zielinski saga last summer and when we missed out on him we signed Wijnaldum who none of us or the eds expected as we weren't linked with him. What I mean is people need to relax on the likes of VVD and Kieta, it is likely we will miss out on them but we can still add quality just like we have after getting Salah after missing out on our first target Brandt and to be honest I am far more happy we got Salah. So just be patient it is still a long window and who knows who we could be in talks with right now or later that no one knows about.

Believable9 Unbelievable6

10 Jul 2017 10:14:02
Anyone any info on Juanma? Is Klopp planning to have a look at him in preseason with an eye on bringing him into the first team? I remember reading on here a while back that he is very highly rated by everyone in the academy?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - he suffered a few setbacks after that, injuries and a decision that he was better at centre back held him back a little. He is likely to be looked at in preseason, but I can't see any route for him into the team in that position. Managers never take chances on untried youngsters in the centre of defence unless there is a major injury crisis.}

10 Jul 2017 10:42:52
Cheers Ed01.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

10 Jul 2017 14:26:22
Interesting ed01. Don't eat me lol. Just thinking what you said about taking a chance with youngsters. Would you think Gomez is in this bracket of untried. I know he has played a bit but if a injury hot then he could be our first choice CB. What's your thoughts please.

{Ed001's Note - yes, he is very much in that bracket.}

10 Jul 2017 16:25:14
Thanks ed01. So we definitely need a experienced CB. I know we are looking but who's out there is the question?

10 Jul 2017 09:09:46
Looks like Aubameyang is off to Milan.
Wondering why the likes of Liverpool or Chelsea aren't in for him. Or United before Lukaku?
Is he just not that good? Coz I thought he'd be perfect for the Prem and our team tbh.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

10 Jul 2017 09:47:17
I think there are issues with him, you wonder why PSG pulled out of the deal and why Dortmund are so happy to get rid? Eds have you any whispers about any issues relating to Auba?

{Ed002's Note - Clubs are generally not seeeing the value in the asking price. His nuisance value is high, he wants to move to one particular club (and that puts of others), his wage demands are very significant - however, after his refusal to move to China we are down to just a couple of clubs being interested with Milan taking note of Dortmund's encouragement to hasten his departure and looking to reach agreement as soon as they can.}

10 Jul 2017 09:54:33
I remember reading somewhere (it may well have been on these pages) that he and Klopp had a bit of a strained working relationship at Dortmund.

As such it would have really surprised me if Klopp/ the club had pushed really hard to get such an expensive player in a position we don't really need, when their previous experience working together was not excellent.

{Ed002's Note - He was one of several players that were not happy with the training methods.}

10 Jul 2017 10:02:00
Well that's fair enough Ed. I doubt Klopp has changed his training methods to any great extent and therefore it's likely that Auba wouldn't fit in at Klopp's Liverpool.

I think people need to realise that just because players are very good on the pitch there can be a myriad of reasons why certain players wouldn't work at certain clubs.

If Auba (and others) weren't happy with the training then that's no real slight on him, he would just be happier at a club that used different training methods.

Despite his flaws concerning transfer dealing I think Klopp is building a team that buy into his ethos and the way he wants to do things, which is certainly a better way of operating that just buying random players that people think are good.

10 jul 2017 02:34:32
hi eds when is the new sharkopod coming up thanks.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - I have some others to do first - but within a couple of weeks.}

10 Jul 2017 11:00:02
Fantastic news ed002, what a gent 🤝.

10 Jul 2017 12:35:19
Loved the last one. Was brilliant.

09 Jul 2017 20:50:15
Ed001 - slightly different question but thought I'd be interesting to see your point of view. What Liverpool signing were you must disappointed about, as in they didn't really get a fair crack at the team or never fulfilled their full potentials? My top 3 would have to;

Suso

Adam Morgan

And I know I'm going to get stick for this but I wish Mad Mario made it at Anfield aha.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Litmanen. He is the one that I was most excited about but was just never given a chance.}

10 Jul 2017 04:54:24
I want to mention Robbie Keane. Why was he bought and sold with in half a campaign. Were there underlying issues?

{Ed001's Note - yes. Off field he was not conducting himself the way he should have and so was quickly moved on.}

10 Jul 2017 05:12:01
For me, Harry Kewell, as an Aussie and Liverpool supporter.

10 Jul 2017 05:33:34
I always thought that Markovic would be a great addition. Shame he fizzles out. Though I do remember getting my hopes up when he produced that match winning performance against Sunderland.
Andy Carroll too. Such hype and then nothing.

10 Jul 2017 07:16:35
I still think ilori could of been one hell of a player. Technical ability of agger an still holds the 60m sprint record at Lisbon ( beating ronaldo and Nani)
Mismanagement and coaching, as well as actually never giving him a chance, has ruined his top flight career.

10 Jul 2017 07:32:42
Rb-I wouldn't class Morgan or Suso as signings because they came through the youth set up (although they signed Suso as a pup) .
Morgan was one I never got, garnered a lot of hype but I never got it, never stood out for me.
The player I think maybe should have been given a little longer at the club in recent times are:
Babbel
Gonzalez
Suso
Warnock
Carroll
Riera
Pacheco
Morientes
Kelly

But in general they haven't done much after leaving and the correct decision was probably made.

10 Jul 2017 07:33:27
Definitely Suso, was gutted when we flogged him.

10 Jul 2017 08:10:34
Benny-I wouldn't say mismanagement has ruined his top flight career, if he's good enough he will make it and has plenty of time. Pace although a good attribute to have is not the be all and end all and 2 managers at Liverpool thought he wasn't good enough.

10 Jul 2017 08:14:39
Sinama Pongolle for me.

10 Jul 2017 08:20:39
Babbel was class untill he became unwell. One of the best free signings ever. Pacheco. what happened there? Mikel San jose should of been given longer. turned into a quality player.

10 Jul 2017 08:13:00
Been thinking about this since I posted, Markovich is a good shout. Rodgers didn't give him the chance he deserved which I never really understood and then playing him out of position baffled me. I fear Grujic will be ' one of them ' hopefully we see more of Grujic, he looks promising to me.

How is Markovich off the pitch, is there a problem?

{Ed025's Note - for me teabag he is a very skillful player but like studge before him suffers from tin man syndrome...lack of heart mate..

10 Jul 2017 08:27:03
Cheers ed25, appreciated mate.

{Ed025's Note - no problem mate..

10 Jul 2017 09:18:11
Ben Elf-I think San Jose is an after the event one, I didn't really remember hearing much fuss when he left. Suso on the other hand always looked capable of doing well although I wouldn't have him in my Liverpool starting line up now, it's frustrating we never made more of him, even just to have gotten a decent fee for him.
I know we got some sort of minor fee for him but does anyone know if there was a sell on clause?

10 Jul 2017 09:46:01
I'd go with Fabio Borini. Not that he didn't get a chance, but I think he was not played in the right position, and the insistence of english coaches on moving him to the wing ruined his potential as a poacher in the middle.

10 Jul 2017 10:37:10
Drigan, Borini didn't even command a regular starting place in a poor relegated Sunderland side last season. I just think maybe he's not that good mate!

10 Jul 2017 10:54:34
I remember being really excited that we had signed diouf and diao after seeing them play for their country, what a disaster that turned out to be.
Carrol has got to be one of the biggest disapointments though, looked like he was going to be a proper good player until he signed for us, deep down I thought it wouldn't work out but refused to admit it to myself haha.

10 Jul 2017 10:58:33
Harry Kewell for me, I couldn't believe it when we were signing him as I thought he was one of the best players in the country and expected him to be off to Utd or Arsenal, but what a disappointment he turned out to be.

10 Jul 2017 11:23:49
Not that he had a bad career with us, but I really loved Babel and thought he would progress to the very top. Also was excited at Morientes and Joe Cole signings and still think Milner should play in midfield!

10 Jul 2017 11:08:32
Benteke. Thought he would be a huge signing.

10 Jul 2017 11:54:06
Aquillani for me.

10 Jul 2017 12:03:18
How has Joe Cole not been mentioned yet? Sent off on his debut and it didn't really get much better.

{Ed001's Note - I thought everyone knew he was crap before he signed and so he lived up to his potential?}

10 Jul 2017 12:20:31
Also, we haven't mentioned Steven Gerrard 2.0. The Man, The Myth and The Legend that is Jordan Rossiter aha.

10 Jul 2017 12:09:04
Ed001. He could open a tin of beans with a football.

10 Jul 2017 12:38:15
what happened to Teixeria?

How is he doing now?

10 Jul 2017 13:22:24
Sebastian Coates- came with the hype following south american tournament- never looked like he would make it.

10 Jul 2017 13:30:16
Shelvey anyone? Or our wee Joe. Though it was the fans that didn't give him a chance.
Where are all the Ibe superfans that cried out about us selling last year. "He's better than sterling" hah.

10 Jul 2017 16:54:15
Cobra666 there was fuss from me.

10 Jul 2017 21:03:14
Jari Litmanen for me, loved his way of playing. Morientes was also a huge disappointment. There have been a few over the years.

10 Jul 2017 01:14:42
HinEds, apologies for being a little confused (! ) but I thought Lucas's contract has now expired? However, I have read that Liverpool have agreed a deal for him to move on (can't remember club) for £5m or so. Which one is it? Is he still a Liverpool player as far as you are aware? Or a free agent?

Thanks, hugs n kisses

Z.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - That would be news to me. As far as I know he should be at pre-season and his agent has been talking with a Turkish side and Gremio - but I suspect he wants a year in Europe before heading back. Maybe I am wrong.}

10 Jul 2017 08:21:39
He has a year left on his contract hasn't He?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, so I understand.}

10 Jul 2017 09:59:08
Aha, OK. Thanks both. Transfermarkt (amongst others) have him listed as contract expiry 30 Jun 17, but other sites saying he has a year left.

Glad its the latter, as I still feel he has a role to play with us and is such a versatile player to have on the bench. And his heart is Liverpool, which is a rarity in our side these days.

{Ed002's Note - My understanding is that it was an optional year because he certainly was allowed to speak with other clubs - and he did speak with Gremio. So it would seem the option was taken up but there remains a chance he will leave. Certainly if Liverpool were to add Keita I would expect him to leave.}

10 Jul 2017 12:58:07
Looking back, the rumour I read was that he could be off to Gremio for £5m.

Regardless of whether he stays to see out his contract or not, it would be great for him to be able to return to his first club and see out his career at 'home'. I hope we allow this to happen for him, as we did with Agger going back to Brondby, as it would be a fitting finale to the career of a very loyal servant of the club.

{Ed002's Note - There is an option in Turkey as well.}
