i thinks because Payet scored a good goal there will be a few on here who will be saying we should sign him, wait until some one we are linkked with scores a goal or has a great game it will be the same.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

11 Jun 2016 00:08:25
wish we could sign him! lol.

11 Jun 2016 00:18:28
lol true that's the thing with these competitions (world cup, euro) we'll be linked with every player who scores a goal.

{Ed007's Note - It's not just these tournaments, it happens every week if someone pops up to grab a headline - Will Grigg is being linked with everyone because of a song!}

11 Jun 2016 00:57:40
Payet is a very very good player, was man of the match and looked better than anyone on that pitch. Made Pogba look ordinary. I'd be delighted to sign him, technique, pace, skill, end product and a goal threat, he has been doing that all season for West Ham.

11 Jun 2016 01:37:13
i would be delighted if we signed him myself.

11 Jun 2016 02:20:48
To be fair we have been hearing and getting told all season by pundits, players etc that payet is a great player and we have only really seen him properly twice. Then tonight you really get to see what he's about

Difference is when some player comes on for xteam in the last 5 mins and whacks one in top bin from 40 yards out and people couldn't care less wether he's 35 and actually a gk getting used outfield because of injuries, they just want him because of one good moment.

Payet might have attitude problems or so I've heard but there's no doubt if we sold coutinho and we had a chance to get him that he would be up there (apart from the unattainable worldies ie rues, sanchez) with anyone to play, star for us and offer the same if not more quality.

You'll be kickin off next when someone says ronaldo had a good game.

11 Jun 2016 02:24:03
To be fair, he's been scoring good goals all season.

{Ed007's Note - He's been watching Patrick Roberts videos for ideas.}

11 Jun 2016 09:00:42
He's a great player but he has 6 years on coutihno. In my view couts has the potential to surpass him when he hits peak. People would rather sell couts than keep hold of him and see what he develops into. At 23 couts is a better player than he was at the same age without the attitude issues to boot.

11 Jun 2016 09:16:47
Payet has been amazing all season. Puts more free kicks in the net than not and always looks to unlock opportunities in midfield or attack.

11 Jun 2016 09:31:20
If coutinhos leaves this summer. Yo7 don't think payet could come in right now and replicate what he does for us and even better it ?

If we don't have coutinho who cares how good he gets.

{Ed001's Note - Payet worries me, lots of quality, but when played wide he is anonymous for West Ham. Worse I have seen him a number of times just throw up his arms and strop letting an attack develop on his side which he could have easily stopped with the slightest bit of effort.}

11 Jun 2016 10:57:33
Can't argue though ed regardless of anything way he played last night was just simply a joy to watch. Poor defensive play for parts but I'd prefer to credit payet for what was just simply some of the best football I'll think we'll see at this tournament already!

{Ed001's Note - he is a brilliant player technically.}

11 Jun 2016 11:16:21
Fair enough ed but how many times have we seen coutinho go missing in games. Not look arsed etc. Yes he has had absolutely brilliant games, moments, work rate. I love him and I'm not slating him. Just saying that I he left then i'd take oayet in a heart beat. Another way to look at it, who on the lm is outperforming payet without naming Ronaldo, reus etc as my original post was about a realistic non worldie replacement.

You never know either what payet would do it a better team, which we are no doubt. Him firmino, origi and lallana all interchanging.

He's pretty much the best player for west ham, infact is. Maybe he gets fed up being one step ahead a lot of the time of his team mates or wanting a pass that doesn't come.

He does have an attitude problem, hence performing greatly all career and never getting that big move, something put teams off.

{Ed001's Note - never have you ever seen Couts do any of that. He has off games, but he always works hard. I don't see your point at all. You might want to try watching him play, instead of being another of those tools who whine like bitches at him now he wants to go.}

11 Jun 2016 12:03:51
Yeah you can't deny last season coutinho added the aspect of a great work ethic to his game. he did in previous seasons completely drift out of games but this season even if his magic wasn't there he gave all he had and worked as hard as he could so credit to him for that.

11 Jun 2016 12:12:56
I think the one thing Payet gives that we don't have is an ability to hit a dead ball, we don't have anyone who is a consistent threat from free kicks and we certainly don't have anyone who can take a corner, how many failed corners did we see last season? I don't think it is fair to compare Couts to Payet as they are different types of player and I have to say that Couts has never given anything less than 100% even on an off day.

11 Jun 2016 12:57:57
Agree with you on the dead ball sentiment Dennis. Brannagan in his cameos delivered easily our best corners of the season which is a cause for concern. Whatever about freekicks I find it concerning that no one can cross a non moving ball with no pressure when they easily have the ability and technique to perform what should be a relatively simple task for them.

11 Jun 2016 06:33:18
And rightly so. Payet is a late boomer and he is a world class talent. Carried his team all season and scored a very important goal today for his country. We would be lucky to have a talent like him in our team. Someone who STEPS UP when in matters.

Some here think Coutinho is world class because he scores hattrick against Haiti. When he is far far from reaching there although he has the potential to be there one day.

11 Jun 2016 14:52:33
i have to agree about the dead ball takers, i noticed last season that there was so many different players taking corners and free kicks, maybe we can get a player in who is good but also a dead ball specialist that's what payet is a specialist, i do remember though Couths free kick where he rolled it under the wall for a goal, pure class, he must have watched that team and seen that the wall always jumped because i don't think he would have tried to roll it under the wall.

11 Jun 2016 16:11:57
You really don't think coutinho didn't have a game last season were hw didn't work hard?

The final for one. He was utter dog turd. Couldn't be assed. Many many times there right back skipped forward and Phil pulled back and didn't chase him.

Phil is a great player and I hope we do everything in our power to keep him. If anyone in the squad deserves to be our highest paid player its him, please give him what he wants because he is and will be for many years our sueprstar. But he does go missing. Its not always a bad thing, noone game in game out can be and give 100% apart from the few like kuyt. How many games does messi just sit on his arse before strickimg a beauty.

Your point was a negative against payet was that he goes missing alot. Well so does coutinho and Sanchez, reus, ribery, Ronaldo. Its part of the game.

On overall quality though payet would be and equal if not slight improvment right now on Phil.

Dont try and take my point away by just saying I'm moaning when I'm just saying fact.

If you trully believe there wasn't one game where coutinho couldn't be assed and didn't work as hard as he can then fair play to you. Maybe red tinted spectacles but your point and we all value that.

My point is I love him, he's quality, dint sell him but he does go missing in games and have times where hw can work harder.

{Ed001's Note - when did he not bother to track back? He had a very poor game, but he was certainly pulling his weight. You are talking crap about that.

My point about Payet was not that he goes missing, can you not read? It was nothing to do with that at all. Wasting my time here, you are not reading or taking any notice of anything said, you have set blinkered views and will not even bother to read anything that says something different without trying to twist it to suit your biased agenda. I am not going to reply again, waste of my time to bother.}

10 Jun 2016 22:04:20
I see Balotelli is to report for training ed as requested by Klopp. I hope to god he isn't considering keeping him?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

10 Jun 2016 22:39:46
You know they get annoyed with you so why not you know stop? Ballo has been asked to turn up to training to earn his 90k a week? Like every other player contracted to Liverpool who is fit. He will leave you don't need the eds to confirm it for the 10th time this week. It did not change because of the latest paper spin on the 'story'

10 Jun 2016 22:52:55
he is still a employee of Liverpool fc and has to do as he is told, I have no doubt come august, Mario will no longer be a employee of Liverpool fc, that's all there is to this story, if bentenke cannot get a game under klopp, he has got no chance at all with his workrate and desire, also he has been quoted as saying he made a mistake joining us in the 1st place, which I think we can all agree on, personally I expect him to go back to Italy and play for one of the milan clubs.

11 Jun 2016 00:23:10
hope to christ he's gone. i don't believe anything until its done, it's alright saying he will end up gone. will he? i'm not sure, who wants him? its quite and quite news isn't good news to me, but of course the transfer window hasn't even opened yet. sooner its done the better, its a worry for me, his wages alone are a complete waste until he's out of the picture.

11 Jun 2016 10:58:43
Better than paying the sod to sit at home! He's under contract of course he should be reporting to training.

11 Jun 2016 12:16:55
The only reason Balotell should be training is so he still looks like a footballer if any club loses their collective marbles and wish to buy him. We pay him regardless so it might help if he pretends to be a footballer occasionally to encourage other teams to take a gamble on him.

10 Jun 2016 22:00:41
I repeat. Forget about Goetze and all the others. Dimitri Payet is the man LFC needs. Absolutely masterful display tonight for France. Right foot, left foot, free kicks, excellent corners, tricky dribbling, insightful throughballs, Coutinho-esque goal in the top corner. Overshadowed Pogba and Griezmann, and clearly MOTM.

Believable3 Unbelievable10

10 Jun 2016 22:41:38
Why would they sell to us?
Why would he come to us?

West Ham have money. West Ham will be in the best stadium in England. West Ham are in Europe next season.

If he leaves it will be for a champions league team not in the premier league.

10 Jun 2016 22:53:36
A bit of euro fever there mate, seen it all before in big tournaments, don't get me wrong great player but his value must be astronomical now after that goal.

10 Jun 2016 23:03:01
game 1 and already we have our first " we must sign this player" shout. Plenty more of this to look forward to no doubt, whilst abusing the players we have a genuine interest in, personally I thought france were poor, and only awful finishing prevented Romania from winning the game, I will have to watch future itv games with the sound of from now on as I don't think I can stomach a whole month of hoddle and tylsdley in the commentary box, what a gem from glenn " if the goalie had dived the right way he would have saved the penalty! " trouble is he didn't, to think this man once managed England.

10 Jun 2016 23:04:36
If coutinho would leave we should go all out but I don't see West Ham selling him.

10 Jun 2016 23:06:27
We were not in Payet's league transfer wise, even before his goal tonight. After his goal and probably a very good tournament I am not sure there is any PL club who could put their hands on him, even the likes of City and Arsenal. He will go straight to either the two Spanish Giants or PSG or Munich.

10 Jun 2016 23:18:31
Payet had been outstanding all season and just keeps getting better. He was complete boss tonight.

10 Jun 2016 23:46:00
I seem to remember us being linked to him when he was at St Et. I think during the Comolli years.

It never happened and i doubt highly it will now (most prob not interested) but we need a dead ball specialist who can put the ball into the box from corners, we were quite poor with distribution last season.

Although Milner had a fair few assists, i'm not sure how many came from set pieces.

11 Jun 2016 00:25:54
Once again, spot on Ron. couldn't agree more mate. Good player yes, why would he come to us lol makes no sense its not going to happen. let's leave it at that.

11 Jun 2016 01:33:48
Payet is a wonderful player but would be mad to leave West Ham, next summer maybe, but hammers are in such a good place that they could very much become the next huge team in England alongside city in my opinion anyway.

11 Jun 2016 08:54:40
KingKenny7 - turn on the cognitive functions and neural connections between eyes and brain. I started the post with "I repeat". It means I have said this before (3 times to be exact) . This also means it is not just about this first game. And where have I slated players from our team in the post or anywhere else?

Ron - Wow. I'm taken aback. The eternal optimism and positivism has a dark side!

11 Jun 2016 10:25:29
My positivity and optimism only really extends to matches. Transfers and finances are a stretch too far 😄.

11 Jun 2016 10:57:44
ra1969 I didn't say you personally have slagged off our targets, I meant posters in general, the pattern is as follows we lust after a player we have no chance of getting, and let's face it west ham did not have to beat of much competiton to sign payet, whilst bemoaning the fact our true targets are not good enough or they don't have a sexy enough sounding surname, if payet carries on in this manner it will be west ham who will have to do all they can to keep him, especially if say psg came calling.

11 Jun 2016 12:47:45
Okay Kingkenny7, your point is well taken. But I must admit now that my enthusiasm has gotten tempered a bit when i realized that Payet is already 29 years old. Wouldn't fit into the setup Klopp is building it seems. Phenomenal player nevertheless.

11 Jun 2016 17:29:44
I agree with you there, also it will be interesting to see how his 2nd season with west ham plays out, as he will be a marked man.

10 Jun 2016 21:53:02
I don't understand these posts about Branagan. He played really well in the cup games and people need to consider how difficult it is when making your first step up to play in the first team.

He is clearly a talented young player and seems a level headed and grounded guy too. Just signed a new contract without demanding the world!

Is it really a case of. if we look at any youngsters across the globe we wax lyrical without even knowing or seeing them. but if a big team takes an interest in one of our young players, well they surely can't be good enough.

Really? Come on guys.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

10 Jun 2016 22:14:19
I don't think it's just the youngsters to be fair. Fans constantly look at players and see them do a few good things once in a blue moon and suddenly they are far better that what we have. Branagan is a great young talent. I can't see him going to Spain though. Surely with Klopps reputation all is lining up perfectly for him to step up and take his chance here. It's up to him now, if he is good enough and wants to reach the top. Klopp and Liverpool will be more than willing to give hime that chance.

11 Jun 2016 00:29:31
The lads got a good future that's for sure, I think the upcoming season will do a lot for him, we'll see more of him. We all know Klopp likes giving youngsters their chance, he will be one worth giving a chance. I reckon its quite exciting, not just for him but for Liverpool.

11 Jun 2016 01:23:23
youngster? he is 24.

11 Jun 2016 02:50:09
who is 24? Brannagan has not long turned 20.

11 Jun 2016 03:55:53
Branagan would be a regular starter next season with emre can and co. I cannot see hendo doing it for long, his injury is a critical one which will keep coming back, he will never be his pre injury self. I think branagan is going to be very well be first choice by second half of the coming season. The lad is two footed and decent on dead balls. He has a good touch, can run with the ball and decent shot. A lot of youth has been cleared, clearly he being kept means plans are there for him.

10 Jun 2016 21:35:15
First time poster. Intrigued my Eds posts. Would just like to ask whether or not Liverpool would use the price of Sterling as a bargaining point if we were negotiating with a club for Coutinho?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - No, it is of no relevance at all.}

10 Jun 2016 23:07:56
my only worry is that psg have the money required to make us a offer we cannot refuse, they have shown that in past transfer dealings, I am expecting him to leave simply because he could have poured cold water on any speculation, he has chose not to.

10 Jun 2016 19:38:17
What do the Eds and everyone think of the decision to allow the second-string and U21 teams to play in the Football League Trophy? That's an additional 10 games (including the Final) that the U21's would normally not have, and in LFC's case it can only be a good thing. Less pressure to loan out developing and potential players and increased playing time for the boys while they get ready to hit the big time.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

10 Jun 2016 19:30:16
Why does people hate . He may not score many goals as he should . But he works harder than any of are players and he make runs. to make room for other players.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

10 Jun 2016 20:18:04
Who's that then?

10 Jun 2016 20:42:34
Lallana? If it is, then why is running around a positive? It's a minimum for me, can't we get someone to run around and score goals or create.

10 Jun 2016 20:44:57
Is this guess the player?

10 Jun 2016 21:51:42
Lets get mo farah in, he can run a lot, not sure what else he will add to the team though. Disclaimer: this is sarcasm, i do not want to sell, chop or get rid of lallana and i think he is a decent player when in the right mindset.

10 Jun 2016 21:55:33
Im going for Craig Johnston. He ran around alot.

10 Jun 2016 22:05:32
This could literally be applied to the majority of our squad. Runs a lot does sod all.

10 Jun 2016 22:57:07
Doesn't really apply to Benteke though.

10 Jun 2016 23:48:06
Ryan Babbel?

10 Jun 2016 16:52:05
Ed 002, it has made my day knowing that you are a Bernie fan! Personally love the guy.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - You may be going a little far with the word "fan", but he would get my vote but he won't be running.}

10 Jun 2016 19:40:04
Best of a bad bunch really.

10 Jun 2016 23:37:41
#Corbs+Bernie.

10 Jun 2016 16:54:20
I have two tickets for the final of Euro 2016 but I didn't realise it will be on the same day as my wedding. so I can't go. If you are interested and want to go instead of me. It's at the St Andrews church in Brighton, the girl is called Sarah.

Believable20 Unbelievable2

10 Jun 2016 17:05:35
Is she a liverpool fan?

10 Jun 2016 17:07:07
😄 good one.

10 Jun 2016 17:15:11
Love it lol.

10 Jun 2016 17:55:02
Can you post a picture?

10 Jun 2016 18:05:58
Lol, saw this on a Facebook site yesterday made me chuckle.

10 Jun 2016 18:58:35
Haha classic.

11 Jun 2016 08:51:32
It's a beautiful story, mate. You should put it to song.

10 Jun 2016 16:51:19
Good luck to Kolo after being released by the club, will always be welcome back YNWA.

Believable16 Unbelievable1

10 Jun 2016 19:27:32
After his recent performances, I must say I'm a little surprised he wasn't kept on.

10 Jun 2016 20:43:47
Kolo was a hero, seems a good bloke too. He did however, struggle to complete 90 in a tough game, but for the first 70 he'd be our best defender.

10 Jun 2016 22:51:21
good luck in whatever you do kolo thanks for the good memories, hsf he is going out on a high but if we kept him he would be a year older and slower, so not worth keeping him really, he played well in the last few games for us and deserves all the praise he gets.

10 Jun 2016 16:49:07
According to Sky Sports Italia Liverpool have submitted a 12m. euro bid for Zielinski.

One for ed002.
Hi ed, just wanted to know, what would be the implications (if any) to the premier league if the UK voted to come out of the EU?
Also, what would you vote? In or out?
Also a bonus question if I may. Trump or Hilary? Lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - (a) It is not actually clear what would happen. There would certainly not be any overnight change but the eventual position would likely be a need for work permits and residence permits. In terms of existing EU citizens already working in the UK, there is no plan but I would think an amnesty would be the likely decision followed by a quota system of some type. A good question but no firm answer I am afraid. (b) I am not allowed to vote. (c) Bernie.}

10 Jun 2016 16:30:45
Ed I could've done without knowing you're a Berner. You were my hero, I almost made a Facebook account just to join your appreciation society. Such a sad, sad day for me :P.

10 Jun 2016 16:43:23
I'm not a Berner for the very reasons he was not able to win.

10 Jun 2016 16:47:03
Thanks ed.
Your the only smart person I trust when it comes to such matters. Lol
I thought you might have been a bernie man, sadly I don't think your going to get your wish.

{Ed002's Note - No it won't be Bernie.}

10 Jun 2016 17:47:09
So you can vote in the States but not England? Ed2 you're slipping. We've narrowed you down to one of 320 million people. We'll get you soon!

10 Jun 2016 19:20:25
We don't know if ed 02 is male or female and the only American I can think of whose sex is unknown is Alf (Alien Life Form) from the 80's TV show! I could be on to something lol.

{Ed002's Note - We have a couple of ALFs in the attic still. They belonged to the dis when they were much younger.}

10 Jun 2016 16:14:05
Hi Ed02,

We often hear about LFC paying high agency fees, and I saw a league table recently where we were 1st or 2nd in the EPL.

I wondered what are the main factors which lead to higher/ lower agency fees?

Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Overpaying for players (e.g. Firmino and Aquilani), buying "marquee" players to please the fans (e.g. Benteke), buying players with multiple agents and representatives (e.g. Balotelli), buying lots of players (hence the bloated squad), not negotiating fixed fees as well as is possible, using "agents" to organise transfers etc..}

10 Jun 2016 23:30:07
Love to know why Bernie? Ed02? He is a bit too left wing for me, It has been very Interesting watching the Primaries over here. I am still Baffled why 14m Americans have voted for Trump!

So who is everybody's tip for the Euro's? I think Germany, although France not far behind.

{Ed002's Note - It is more of being the best of a bad bunch RedinCa. I grew up with Reagan as Governor of CA so I recall those Republican days well.}

11 Jun 2016 01:30:31
It's time that when a player wants to leave or join a club they should pay agents fees, when a club wants a player out they stump up, also eds when renegotiating contracts who pays the agents then, surely it's the player? Thanks eds in advance.

10 Jun 2016 14:24:12
Continuing my joke theme from yesterday, I see Klopp has asked Balotelli to report for training. What are the odds on him changing his attitude and impressing Klopp? More or less than Leicester winning the Prem? 😄.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

10 Jun 2016 14:40:15
What if Klopp got ballotelli firing on all cylinders?

10 Jun 2016 15:07:35
i believe balotelli will score 50 goals in premier league next season😂😂😂.

10 Jun 2016 15:10:52
oh and they saw Çan with the whole Germany squad😂😂so we will sign whole of them😁.

10 Jun 2016 16:20:33
ha my thoughts exactly. the clown has some talent but i don't think a Dynamo could get him to use it, Pity he wasn't in the Italian team and had a similar tournament to his last. might have got him some interest. Though the fact he can't get in such an average Italian squad says it all really.

10 Jun 2016 16:45:59
Balotelli being kloops captain would be the best one.

10 Jun 2016 13:27:11
I would like to ask your opinion on Ricardo Queresma. He has been in good form over the last 2 years, his attitude as changed a lot and he still seems to have the talent added to the fact that he seems to have improved in all aspects of the game including defense. Should Liverpool consider him, would he suit our present style or structure?
I believe he should be somebody we should consider.
I would also like other posters to provide their opnions.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

10 Jun 2016 14:10:23
I can't imagine how a player like him would fit into Klopp's ethos. I haven't seen him recently though.

10 Jun 2016 14:25:02
Didn't he come on against us in the final?

10 Jun 2016 14:40:36
Henry, when you typed the original post were you aware that Quaresma is 33 in a few weeks time?

Or were you suggesting that we offer him a job in hospitality?

10 Jun 2016 15:25:25
I do realize that, he will not in this case block somebody elses development and also, will not cost a bomb, he still has very good pace and plenty of creativity.

Still would like EdO1's response to my original post, Also would like to hear the thoughts of MK Scouser.

Thank you for everyon elses response.

10 Jun 2016 15:44:55
How would he not stop someone else's development if he's on the pitch instead of Ibe or ojo? He's 33 and isn't going to improve. He would probably need a year to get used to the league. A pointless signing. Average 33 year old players is certainly not what we need.

10 Jun 2016 17:07:06
Hi Henry. It's been a couple of years since I saw Quaresma play live. I believe it was a few Champions League games for Porto.

He has never been a player who impresses me if I'm honest. Portugal's answer to Aaron Lennon. All pace, and poor end product. He probably has slightly better technique than Lennon but I believe he has a very poor attitude to boot.

Personally, I wouldn't even consider him in his prime. Occasionally he whips in an absolutely lethal cross and you think "that's special", but time after time he just over hits it, crosses it straight to a defender, puts it into the keepers hands, or shanks it into the stand behind the goal.

In terms of finishing, he is a little bit better, but still erratic. If you watch his highlights then he looks like a 20 goal a season player, but ultimately he rarely scores double figures. A quick check online shows me he managed just 4 goals all season in a really poor Turkish League, playing for the team who ultimately finished as Champions. And we moan about Milner and Lallana for having terrible goal returns!

Sadly mate, Quaresma is just another winger who flatters to deceive.

10 Jun 2016 17:21:11
Quaresma has been poor and a great underachiever his whole career.

10 Jun 2016 17:30:09
Thank you guys for your response .

10 Jun 2016 23:06:26
quaresma is 4 times player lennon will ever be. quaresma won silverware none of our players won anything. quaresma is one of main portugal players and last 2 years scoring regularly for club and country and none of liverpool player isn't a starter internationally bar couts and skrtel. funny facts lol. quaresma has wonderful shot and outside of the foot pass lennon can sprint fast lol.

11 Jun 2016 01:33:05
Another Ben arfa absolute waste of an amazing talent.

10 Jun 2016 13:32:12
Eds sorry to ask mate but is there any update at all on Zielinski please?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - No - I have explained the situation over and over again to you.}

10 Jun 2016 13:48:44
Ok mate fair enough. I no youve explain situation I just didn't no how things were at the minute. No change.

10 Jun 2016 17:03:20
Maybe ask again in another 5 minutes mate.

10 Jun 2016 21:58:24
Everytime i read your response mikey i go into fits of laughter. 😊.

10 Jun 2016 11:36:30
Klopp out! I want Kolo as our number 1.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

10 Jun 2016 14:10:45
Karius is our number 1.

10 Jun 2016 10:47:35
Kolo Toure has been officially released. Didn't see that coming.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

10 Jun 2016 11:04:41
His contract ran out this summer. He was expected to renew, but this hardly comes as a total shock!

10 Jun 2016 12:33:30
The Liverpool echo say he was offered a coaching/ playing role but turned it down as he wants to continue playing. Can't blame him as he is nearing the end if his career. Good luck to him wherever he ends up. A great pro, superb attitude and never gave less than 100% every time he played. I'm sure he will be missed.

10 Jun 2016 13:38:56
He made me laugh more than anything else.
Put in some beast performances though and amazing turns of pace for an old dog. Towards the end he was our best defender. Good luck Kolo.

11 Jun 2016 01:34:51
Had the best chant ever.

11 Jun 2016 08:44:20
Sad to see Kolo go.

If we had four younger versions of Kolo for our defence, we would probably win the title.

Just as an aside: the younger defenders coming through in professional football today mainly range from mediocre to awful. And they cost 20 million.

I wish I were younger - I think I would have made a very good living in England posing as a defender.

10 Jun 2016 10:19:32
Read something about Gomez going? Better not be true the lads class. Just a daft rumour? He's got plenty of time to impress and under klopp I'd imagime him been a beast.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

10 Jun 2016 10:59:26
Square Tomato has informed us that Joe is going nowhere and has been told he will be 4th choice centre back next season behind Matip, Lovren and Sakho.

In my opinion Matip, Lovren and Sakho will probably cover the premier league games between them, with Gomez being partnered by Lucas in the cups as Lucas will give him advice and instruction on the pitch. Barring an injury crisis, Gomez probably won't start many premier league games.

I trust Square Tomato is correct though, and therefore that Gomez is going nowhere.

10 Jun 2016 13:07:06
Wouldn't it be better for Gomez to be better off going out on loan and play day in and out?

He was very good but for the unfortunate injury.

These young players should take time and play couple of seasons more in lower league or any league before moving and they should ensure that they will play or there is no use in going to bigger clubs and sit on bench or be 4th choice.

10 Jun 2016 15:35:55
Yeah, i'd be happy to see him out on loan but getting rid for me is no no.

10 Jun 2016 17:08:40
Considering he's been out a year with a terrible injury I think staying as back up would be the better option rather than a loan, throwing him into first team football for a championship or lower prem club will not do him any favours and he will likely suffer more injurys and loss of form.
At least if he stays then his return can be managed properly.

11 Jun 2016 01:42:44
Gomez is a v good championship player now with potential to up his level so if he was to go out on loan it should be in prem to get better u need to test yourself against the best players so prem loan or stay n learn off klopp n better players imo.

11 Jun 2016 06:24:24
I don't press agree/ disagree often, but Mikey has it spot on there. I think!

09 Jun 2016 19:41:54
Hi Ed's is Kolo going to Monaco?

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement for where he will end up.}

09 Jun 2016 19:02:00
Hello Ed002, I was wondering if I could pick your brain on an issue that is prevalent in football these days.

In the not so recent past, Neymar came out with the very public statement Coutinho is good enough to play for Barcelona and that he would like to play alongside him. Last week, Dani Alves came out with another public statement urging Coutinho to move to Barcelona and that he has the quality to play for them. And now, Felipe Luis has come out with a statement that he discussed that Coutinho is good enough for the top CL sides and that he is welcome at Atletico Madrid.

I understand that players talk about these things in private (for example, Coutinho telling Willian and Neymar that he will leave Liverpool if we didn't get CL football), but with these statements now being made public by the players, would that not p1ss off Liverpool? I know Liverpool are not exactly the most respecting of sides to other clubs (Gerrard's statement on Suarez being better than Arsenal, Emre Can recently saying how Gotze will do well at Liverpool come to mind), but would this cause peoples within Liverpool to react, perhaps by contacting the clubs where these players play (Barcelona, Atletico)?

Finally, are the comments of these players being directed by the clubs themselves? I understand Real and Barcelona in particular like to get into the heads of a potential new signing by making these comments via their current players.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - It was last year that this was said by Neymar - which was some time ago. But it will be the player himself that is feeding this. We knew last year (and I explained tehn) what had happened.}}

10 Jun 2016 12:45:10
Does it really matter? I'm sure what they said publically has already been said to him in private. I'm sure simeone doesn't go out and buy players based on Felipe Luis.

10 Jun 2016 16:25:42
I wouldn't be too concerned about it. If Coutinho goes to Barcelona then he'd be back up to Neymar on the left side. And if he is played on the right then he'd be backup to Messi. Good luck to replacing those two if he thinks he's better. Even in the Brazil setup he is 3rd choice for that left attack slot. Behind Neymar and Douglas Costa. The only reason he is playing (and playing extremely well) is because Neymar is not in the squad and Douglas Costa is injured. The Barcelona talk is probably noise to set the wheels going so that he can end up somewhere else. Like for example, PSG.

10 Jun 2016 17:11:13
Ra if he went to Barcelona he'd be a long term replacement for Iniesta in midfield. Busquets holding with Coutinho and Rakitic either side is a frightening prospect.

10 Jun 2016 19:16:45
I'm certain players are used to tap up thier international team mates by their clubs. Or their ex team mates.

I remember Gerrard claiming to the press that Joe Cole was the English Messi just before he signed for us on a free - no bloody way he actually thought that unless he was on the charm offensive as directed by LFC. Gary Mac was used to try and tap up Robbie Keane under Houlier too. It's naive to think it doesn't happen.

10 Jun 2016 09:46:07
Studying the players klopp is after, the midfielder we will sign is not mere pace but Guile. Guile is the way Reus, Banega opened our defence up.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

10 Jun 2016 10:41:18
Ye i hope so anyways. We often lack creativity in the middle to attack. Too lateral.

10 Jun 2016 13:43:43
Yeah we need guile. Maybe Blanka aswel?

10 Jun 2016 06:49:43
Do you guys think the lack of transfer activity has anything to do with the potential sale of the club? Or just because it's still only June?

PS: Great site, keep up the good work Eds and posters.

10 Jun 2016 07:27:05
I'd hazzard a guess at it being because the windows not open yet and we have more players at the moment than we will games next year but that's just my guess.

10 Jun 2016 07:30:22
Euro's and the Copa America I would assume are the main hold up's.

10 Jun 2016 07:31:13
The Summer transfer window only officially opened yesterday 9/ 6/ 16 for Premier League Clubs. On top of which we've already conducted business early.

10 Jun 2016 07:54:04
Window not open? I've seen Bailey sign a four year deal at Utd and a £30m fee confirm, pictures of him signing too.

Different rules? Has Karius not be seen with pen in hand and a no.1 Jersey aloft?

There is no window, players sign for clubs at any time.

{Ed001's Note - there is a window for transfers of registrations.}

10 Jun 2016 08:27:22
stanz i love your picture that's my fearless leader:)

10 Jun 2016 09:52:21
Seems there's a fair few S. A Red supporters on this site, nice to see we never walk alone!

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate. We really do appreciate that.}

got to agree with you. Really look forward to reading their opinions everyday.

10 Jun 2016 03:37:48
First time poster. Found this site only recently and got to say it does make me chuckle with all the transfer ( dream ) talk. However bad some of the rumours are it does make me come back.

Ed002 is superb.

It may have been answered last year but could someone tell what klopps goals are or targets set by fsg over the next 2 years?

10 Jun 2016 04:53:17
Read the posts mate. Everything has been covered mate.

10 Jun 2016 02:18:55
Klopp has said he wants players who want to be at Liverpool.

Rightly so.

If someone offers 50 million for Coutinho I would bite their hand off. And Goetze can do whatever he wants also. I couldn't care less. As Ed002 has suggested, he seems to be trouble.

Leicester have shown us what it takes to win the title. No sure Coutinho or Goetze have those attributes.

On that note, a salute to Daniel Agger. Oozed class on the field, and loved the club. YNWA.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

10 Jun 2016 07:24:09
Agree about Coutinho and Gotze.
This lad Zielinski who we're linked with appears to have the attitude Klopp wants. Looks like he really wants to join us. if reports are to be believed.
Not a bad player either.

10 Jun 2016 08:35:51
He's worth more than 50 mil mate.

10 Jun 2016 09:36:34
If sterling worth 50mil, coutinho is min 60 mil player.
