hi eds I am a bit behind on the football of the future topic of super league could you briefly explain what it is please and do you think it is viable and realistic? thanks a lot hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - it is fairly simple, it would just mean a few of the biggest clubs from around Europe leaving their current leagues and creating one league for themselves. Viable? I have no idea how it would work out long term but it is not just realistic, it is almost certain to happen. Personally I think it is a mistake, it is just another step away from football being for ordinary fans to go and watch live. Plus I have no interest in watching us play teams like Real Madrid, I couldn't give a rat's arse about them one way or another. I want to watch us play the teams my mates support, so I can give them grief or they can give me grief afterwards. What we will end up with is a sport even more about TV than it already is, more of these stupid kick off times to suit a TV audience.}

What would happen to the teams that finish top in the Premier league the season after thats starts? Would they get promoted or only when a team from that country is in the relegation zone?? {Ed001's Note - no one knows, those details haven't been completely ironed out.}

Can't there be a protest against this ed? If this happens i will lose my interest in football as i'm sure many others will too. Do you also think greed will ruin the game like it ruined our economy?
Vik {Ed002's Note - It is some years away but is an issue that is discussed by many of the major teams each year - most recently at the end of August. It is a natural progression from where we are now as the clubs look to take control of exploitation themselves, bringing much more of the monies made by Sky and the like in to the clubs.}

I think Liverpool need to buy one very good CB, RW and CAM. I am happy to wait until next summer for these. This season is very much about repairing and controlling damage which happened during last two seasons. I am very happy with the signings we made this summer and our start to our season. The important thing is we need to hold our important players. If we make CL then we can go big next summer. But again all we need is these three big signings provided we don't loose our main players.

My targets for those respective positions would be
CB (Subotic, Hummels, Cahill etc)
RW (Hazard, Johnson, Marin, etc)
CAM (Eriksen, Goetze, Sissoko, etc).

I think the above mentioned names are definitely possible if we make CL and win at least one cup. Lets strongly hope we make it and with good summer market our future will be very good provided we also bring through some terrific youngsters in our academy. THANKS!

Abhi.

Think its more like aaron lennon for the rw birth, hazard's simply a no go, and according to sport1.de & kolner stadt-anzeiger spurs are about to tie up both marin & muniain {Ed001's Note - you are dreaming again, Spurs have little chance of one let alone both! You were having those same wet dreams in the summer about Spurs big signings and none appeared.....}

I love it when ed001 replies like that it is so sweeeeeeeeet hibsylfc

Think you'll find your liverpool banter page is full of wet dreams every day! will you post that? all I did was to take out what I saw from german on line medias, you do seem
to have a problem with certain posts luv, you do need to grow up some {Ed001's Note - I just pointed out you were dreaming, if you can't take that then it is you that needs to grow up. I don't care where you got it from, it is nonsense, anyone with a brain in their head can clearly see that. Spurs have a stadium issue that is affecting their spending power, as a Spurs fan you should know that as well as anyone. You jumped in on a post that was not meant to be a 'we are signing these players' but a 'I would like us to sign these players' one, with a bunch of nonsense about how Spurs are going to get them all instead. Then you have the cheek to complain when someone points out you are talking nonsense.}

Two things of note, they do not have a stadium issue the riots sought to that, harringay council is one of the poorest councils in the country, levy asked for parity like other councils had done for clubs within their bounderies, but were told they did not have the funds to help, so they went for the olympic
stadium, levy never wanted nor did
the fans but he (levy) saw it as his
only viable option, but then came
the riots, the government are
pumping millions into the area
allowing harringay to release funds
for the npp, the area's around the
ground have been purchased and
demolished inrediness for the new plans, everything will be passed, remember levy wanted parity and has now got it, as for funds spurs do have spending power and to dismiss it is is that of a fool, levy
believes redknapp has gone in the
summer due to the soon to be
vacant england job, he has been told
the squad was strong enough and
only needed tweeking, the money
will be saved for the new man to
build his squad, the man has been
identified and according to reports its a cracker, remember levy is a
money man and has to report to the
share holders, so the money chelsea
were offering for modric would have
balanced said books HAD they been
in debt! they are not in debt not
one share holder complained, the
money will be used in january if
needed and according to reports the
manager has already identified goals
and these two are apparently
first? it does sound like you get
upset about things if a post sounds better than what liverpool are doing! most are in dreamland when it comes to players being brought in, the best ed by a country mile should start his post everyday with ' no your not getting hazard', hope you post it, cause I DO at least know MY club {Ed001's Note - you clearly know nothing, but you carry on with your nice little fantasy world lad, I wouldn't want to drag you down into reality. I mean obviously you think the money for the stadium is going to come out of fresh air and not affect Spurs spending at all, bless ya.}

Its so funny to see spurs fans writing us off. One fluke top 4 finish n they think that they r barca. Marin n muniain to spurs?? Muniain wud no doubt choose liverpool bcoz of a no. of spanish players in our squad, while spurs have none. N marin? Dont u have ur monkey faced bale? or r u afraid he is gonna ditch u lot for chaelski or the mancs?
Indian Buzzer

You have all this money yet Redknapp even said he couldn't afford all of Adebayors wages as a large portion is being given by City. Yeah, sure your going to be spending big in January and the summer. I mean like Scott Parker, Brad Frieldel big. You know that you have a tiny stadium when a League One team have a larger stadium than you.

TO THE SPURS FAN...... i think the ed is just saying that in order for spurs to improve their existing stadium it would cost you 300-500 million pounds. If liverpool build the new stadium in stanley park it will cost about 300 million at least therefore spurs will need at least 500 million if they are going to sort out transpot links etc. If you think that tight ars* levy is going to give harry "holding out for the england job" redknapp any money then you are talking nonsense. 1.Tottenham are a club which must increase its stadium capacity if it is to grow any more and that means 500 million... cash or cheque its still 500 million.....
2. why would you give a manager who wants the england job any more money?
3. You have no champions league football to offer anymore.
I like tottenham as my best mate is a spud but unitil you move you are stuck and you cant rely on global revenue like we can because your not a global club... harsh but true. I think you will get a bit of money from the council to help fund the transport links issue but you are gonna have to get joe lewis to dig deep into those pockets for 500 smakeroonies mate.... which leads me back to the original point.... you are talkin nonsense

Ed002 I do wish you would let me post what we discussed last week.

I have said all along that I expect that Liverpool will be fighting for a top four place. I suspect that winning the league this year is still a step or two away, but fighting for a Champions League place isn't.}

Hi ed rangers fan here, do u know if Liverpool are going too play a full strength squad at ibrox and is there a lot of fans travelling ? {Ed002's Note - There will certainly be fans travelling but I doubt it will be an enormous number. Expect a depleted squad with cameos.}

Im going the game and i think we will take about 3500 fans

SteLFC

When is it? {Ed002's Note - 18th}

What does everyone think of the idea of a continental cup, which players would get into it. Would any english get into the europe squad?

Would never happen it could never fit into the calender but i would think maybe terry and rooney would get into the squad atleast and maybe the starting 11. would be a mostly spanish team though for europe.

Henderson on the score sheet for england under 21,..

He is a great prospect for LFC and England and im sure wiv stevie's help he'll be one of the best

MJ

I have said all along that Henderson will more than repay the faith Kennys shown in him.Its unfortunate that he's being made a scapegoat, because of the price we paid for him.The lad as everything in his locker to be a great player for us. He just needs time to gel and more experience.

Give him time and he'll become a great player but its nice that we can have a player of his quality and not need to play him and let him grow as a player in his own time -McMenemy

Ash will still be moaning about him

Just a question for the Eds i know every LFC fan wants Hazard,Gotze or Eriksen to join us and ED002 always states that they will not come, but have also stated that Neymar and Ganso would be willing to go to Chelsea if a package could be found suitable im just wondering why players in the calibre of Neymar and Ganso would go to chelsea but The LFC fan favourites would never dare come to LFC...( Im not being funny im just asking as your obviously in the know and i am not)

Thanx

Kipper Fillet {Ed001's Note - money.}

Thanks Ed would that be Fee, wages or both...Sorry to be a pain in the ass but how much would Hazard,Gotze and Eriksen individually cost?

kipper Fillet {Ed001's Note - wages are the problem, not so much fees. These are players looking to be paid well, also, in the case of Hazard, there is a preference for the SPanish weather.}

The chelsea stuff don't matter one bit and i don't know why you care about it at all. Hazard and Goertze would be fantastic but there is no way they are coming. I reckon Ericksen could come if we get Agger to tell him how good the club is and how the dressing room is.

Stop saying money are you trying to turn henry into hicks or gillet!

(oh and who ever put the second reply that spelling of gotze epicly fails

Eds If the super league did happen how many teams would be in the prem 16,18 or 20 or even less?

Mighty reds {Ed001's Note - I have no idea what would happen to the Prem long term, it is going to be a huge upheaval when it happens, but to begin with I would expect it to try and continue as it is.}

I cant see a super league happening surely it would be tough for teams to keep travelling all round europe all time...it would be bad for the sport imo the system now is the right system imo {Ed002's Note - Travelling around Europe is a breeze - not tough at all. When it happens there will be a significant impact, particularly on the lower league professional game. It will effectively create an elusive tier away from the nonsense of teh Financial Fair Play Rules, and UEFA (if it still exists). Fifa, if it is to continue will need to go cap in hand to negotiate.}

It takes it out of the players now travelling round for the champions league and so on....so to be doing it every other week is stupid, and fans not all will be able to afford to go travelling round europe every other week every year....also big teams like barca united madrid psv ajax and so on only 1 can win the title in the end, and those teams r big teams in their domestic league and are use to winning i cant see fans wanting to go see their team losing all time and floating round the mid table or bottom all time...it will be really bad for the game imo {Ed002's Note - Do they have aeroplanes where you are from. How can it take it out of a player popping over to Italy or Spain to play in Champions League? And the numbers of fans attending away games is already reasonably small.}

Dont u listen to managers saying yeah the travelling takes it out of us but its something we have to do....i have......and travelling round europe all time ur not gunna get as many away fans travelling to spain or italy as much as say u would jus say popping down the motorway to london to watch liverpool play or somewhere else in england and wales....atleast ur not always hopping on a plane every other week to play somewhere in europe and the fans dont have to keep paying out for air fair all time.....spending hours at the airports...it would never work, it would cost teams more money...and it would mean starting things from sctratch..its ridiculous idea {Ed002's Note - I traditionally have flown between 200k and 300k miles per year. You are living in some sort of fantasy world if you think that a European league is not viable. Have you ever look at Sports on other countries, baseball for instance - 162 games a season. Football in Russia. You clearly have little grasp about travel.}

They only need to put a cap on wages and fees and change the presidents of uefa and so on not change into a super league...it would be ridiculous 20 teams that can never be relegated or entered into a knock out tournament like the champions league cant see many going for the super league idea at all {Ed002's Note - You are living in the past, but if your precious Liverpool players are not up to a plane ride to Milan or Barcelona every couple of weeks, I guess an exemption could be applied for so that Liverpool can stay safe and sound in England and fight it out with Everton, Wolves, Norwich and Sunderland every week.}

No i jus know what the average person would feel, having to pay out all those air fairs and messing about at airports all time...the average person cant travel all round europe all time nor can they afford too.....maybe if ur rich and have no resposibilities at home then maybe u can but thats not ur average british person....im not talking about the amount of games, im talking about the travelling and the air fairs and messing about at airports and hotels....i also cant see teams like barca, united, chelsea and so accepting never winning a trophy and so on and teams like ajax psv and benfica and porto probably floating round mid table and bottom of the super league..dont think their fans would be happy doing all that travelling paying all that money on air fairs and hotels jus to see their team lose and never win the title lol seriously it wont work even if it happens...its a ridiculous idea {Ed002's Note - Hey, just keep living in the past then.}

I have jus been talking about this idea on facebook,, football pages and stuff, and no one, not one has said its a good idea and will happen every one has said hope not and said it cant work they all agree its a stupid idea {Ed002's Note - Wow, Facebook.}

Ed 2 seriously u need to get out of ur fantasy world of the football fans being rich and having no responsibilities at home like wives and children to support....they can only jus make it to away games in their own country never mind travelling all the way to russia, spain, italy, greece, turkey and so on every other week...get a grip u may have the money to do all that travelling but the average person doesnt {Ed002's Note - The average person does not go to away games - the number of tickets available is minimal, the costs are high and the incination of the majority remains to watch football at home or in a bar. However, you need to understand that change will come, and if you and your cloth cap and whippet smoking buddies on Facebook can't accept it, then it is not going to pass you by. Such changes will bring significant commercial income to the clubs involved and I would expect the owners of Liverpool will be keen to take the club the next step forward. I have never suggested that football fans are rich - it is a figment of you imagination to say that I have and a plain attempt to taint the matter. Do you have colour television or black and white still?}

One flight a week Is hardly going to fatigue a modern pro footballer. I did 20 european flights last week. Got 4 European flights 2moro alone. I still manage to have a kick about once or twice a week. I hope we never see this European super league tho, only good thing about it would be seeing man united getting smashed by barca several times a year rather than just the once :)

Hi eds i know that a breakaway super league as been muted with the top euro clubs. Do u see this happening in the future or does it depend on what happens with how many internationals being played and being reduced.

I think this would spoil footie and i dont know how fans could afford to do it. Also would it mean the prem being reduced. I dont think you can beat taking 5 thousand to places like Wigan and Blackburn. So i hope this never happens.

Might reds {Ed001's Note - I think eventually it will happen, unfortunately.}

Possible timescale ed ?
And what would become of the European Cup competition ?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Within 10 years.}

Dear me.
So the Champs League would be no more ?
How many teams in the new league, 20ish ?
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - I expect a couple of 20 team divisions myself.}

And the Champs League ?
3rd time. Lol. Getting desperate to know that U8d may never win it 5 x times ! Lol.
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - that is a different matter, I think myself it is likely to be replacing it though.}

How many English teams you reckon ?
Everton ? The derby ?
The Real KB
ps last question ed. lol. though i could keep you going all night. said the actress to the bishop.. {Ed009's Note - Perhaps 4 in the top league and 4 in the second league. Then four from Spain, Italy, Germany and the other spots made up from Portugal etc.}

Someone stated that teams with european success and current standings will be considered first, it stands at this liverpool, man united, tottenham & arsenal

I hope this so called Super League never come to existence, Crazy Stupid idea!

Chopman

Why ? Because Liverpool might not get in it, and are not super anymore?

Uhm 10 years is a long time in football, in less than that Arsenal went from Invincible to unable to get a win

We have that already its called the champions league...........

Can't wait for Gerrard to return, don't think Adam and Lucas works

Yeh but Lucas Gerrard never worked either... Adam will work if he is told to stay wihtin his zone spray is passes and work hard off the ball but no dangerous tackles. Gerrard needs to play further forward as he is the best finisher we have and that includes Suarez FACT.

I think gerrard, Lucas and Adam in the centre of a 5 man midfield would work well.

Kuyt/hendo---Lucas----Adam---Downing
--------------------gerrard--------------

A bit like a few years ago. Swap lucas for mascherano and Adam for Alonso and it's not much different. Worked well back then except we now have a better back up striker. Carroll instead of ngog. So if plan A don't work we can change things round a lot more. That's how I see it anyway.

MIKEY

"Adam for Alonso and it's not much different"?
There's a big difference in my opinion.

How can u compare adam with alonso? They r miles apart in terms of quality, technique...........
Alonso is a masterclass, adam is a decent footballer.

5 man mid',v Mancs anyone,
2 pacey wingers could be very offensive.with belts and braces safety option.agree or Disagree?
THAT is the question!

Yeah if Gerrard is off the striker as we need someone to put the ball in the back of the net by finihing the chances.

5 man midfield at home...

Hi eds any latest on Kellys injury? I hope he starts on sat. He did play all the game for the U21s and it said that he was sent home as a precaution so fingers crossed.

Im sure they said similar things last time we met then Kuyt tapped in 3 and suarez tore them a new ass hole

MJ

United were missing a lot of their best players, still our 4h or 5th choice striker grabbed 3 against you.

What do you mean no chance at all?

Stupid as well as delusional.

maka

Sorry to tell u guys, last year was a different squad and a different mentality. charlie adam, henderson, carroll and enrique are not terribly good
where as we have anderson, young, nani, rooney, welbeck, chicharitooo!

Haha you had Anderson, Nani, Rooney and Hernandez last year xD

Would just like to issue a warm congrats to all of us Liverpool fans as Howard Webb will not be refereeing for the match against United at Anfield. So United will have 11 players on the pitch and not 12. Guess Fergie couldn't pay the FA and Webb to referee the game. (This should get some people from the United page over)

Question to everyone...

Who was better, Owen in his prime or Torres in his prime?

Agree for Owen.
Disagree for Torres.

I'm just curious.

Thanks, James.

Fowler

Red maverick

Kenny Dalglish

MJ

Yes, both Fowler and Dalglish were extremely good players, but right now I'm only interested in Owen/Torres.

Thanks, James.

Torres was the best finisher I have ever seen, check all his goals out. Then check his stats fom 2007-2009: best chance conversion rate in the EPL. Plus 90% of golas are not tap ins, they are all varied and some are amongst the best scored in the EPL era. He was a scorer of great goals and EPL favourite player, now he is just a phsycoloically damaged has-been that is steadily gaining weight and losing respect.

Fowler was better

Wash N,gog was better.

Yep, if I had to choose between owen and torres, I'd pick Fowler too

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Owen.

Torres hands down wins it, however it is a little sad when you think about him as a player, not a person, that someone who was that good is now playing the way he is and has been for the past 2 years.

What size stadium?

I was a season ticket holder for many years, but gave it up after the trauma on Hillsborough. New stadium I thought, maybe a chance to get a season ticket? You can't even get on the waiting list now!
I understand the waiting list is 70,000, and has been cleansed ie the club have written to all the people and asked if they want to remain on the list. I am not sure how far along they are with this process, but even if only half this number want a ticket, say 35,000 wouldn't that mean we needed an 80,000 capacity. Why don't we ask for a deposit of say, £1000 redeemable off the first season ticket for the new stadium? We could then plan capacity with certainty - as well as raising £35m for a new player!

The waiting list is not anything like 70,000 waiting list its less than half of that, of the big teams wanting to relocate I will compare three of them, chelsea have a 20,000 waiting
list and nothing on the
unofficial list, spurs average
36,000 att they have 34,000 on
the waiting list and around
another 18,000 who would apply
if the ground were bigger,
liverpool, have a around 32, 000 on their waiting list and a further 19, 000 who would apply should the stadium (new or upgraded) accommodate more.
