Eds do we anticipate anymore loan recalls? I was hoping Markovic but unless some players move on in January I can't see it happening. Is Coutinho a serious target for anyone this window with that in mind?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - No and no.}

12 Jan 2016 00:41:45
I'd love to see Markovic given another shot, think he has more to offer. unfortunately doesn't seem likely.

11 Jan 2016 22:51:19
I think Klopp is had a massive luxury from now until the end of the season. He has zero pressure on him. I can't see top 4 as a real possibility - it would be nice but it will be tough. I think he should spend this time of grace to find and develop a couple of homegrown gems. Ojo or Kent, Ilori or Texiera, Smith and co should be given loads of game time for me. I feel for the cross over players from Rodgers regime, but some simply haven't worked out and they will move on.

With a couple of shrewd solid buys in the summer I think we will be a force next season. I'm especially looking forward to seeing Danny Ings play for Klopp, I think he will get the most out of him.

Sadly, I must admit it will soon be time to make a decision with Studge. We surely can't carry on not knowing when he will break down. I think he is an amazing striker but it's an expensive waiting game. I'd let him have a full pre season and then give it until next Christmas personally but we have to be prepared to play with him or without.

I can't season Benteke being here this time next year, it's obvious that Klopp doesn't fancy him, that leaves Origi, Ings and Firmino, all huge question marks?

I don't think Klopp will gamble and I feel we will see a new striker over the summer.

There will be a wonderful sense of positivity next season with the new stand being complete. If I were FSG I would definitely put the TV gantry on the centenary stand so that the new stand is on full view of the world. I'm not sure if it's possible but if it is then they are surely missing a trick if they don't do it?

Happy days ahead fellow reds.

12 Jan 2016 00:44:45
I agree we can't afford to start another season with Sturridge always injured and Benteke not suiting our style of play.

We need at least 1 top striker that we can rely on to play (especially since our AM's aren't exactly prolific) and I imagine Klopp will sell one of these in the summer to raise funds for this.

11 Jan 2016 22:46:42
Bad signings? How about jimmy Carter?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Great president, bad timing.}

11 Jan 2016 23:50:11
Chris Evans for top gear?

{Ed007's Note - He's minted so he can afford it but I know a couple of dudes from back in the day that can get top quality gear, it's a bit more expensive than council gear but it's worth it.}

11 Jan 2016 23:46:57
Awesome president, a greater man.

11 Jan 2016 22:16:48
So Klopp has said he has 3 options for centre back. Kolo, Mama and then Lucas. Well that doesn't sound great for ilori.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

11 Jan 2016 23:10:34
The question was what senior CBs he had available, Ilori is only 22 and isn't fully fit.

11 Jan 2016 23:17:07
Well with Ilori short on match fitness it would probably be too much for him to start again.

Also it's a big game against Arsenal so to give him his premier league debut in these circumstances would be foolish.

Klopp is protecting him because if he plays against Arsenal and has poor game all these so called fans will turn on him and deem him to be unworthy of the shirt.

11 Jan 2016 23:21:43
Would you have expected him to play this game? šŸ¤”

He was so lacking in match fitness he was spent after 60 mins against Exeter.
He's no going to have miraculously developed enough stamina to play a premier league match against the league leaders 5 days later.

11 Jan 2016 23:48:15
Natural, where is the news? Ilori isn't ready and even if he was, I wouldn't pick him for such a big game so again, where is the news?

11 Jan 2016 23:55:39
Plus he was terrible against Exeter. Too many people are turning a blind eye to that and making excuses for him because they don't want to believe that he just isn't stepping up to senior football like was expected. Great at U21's, poor against men.

He really needs to turn it up a level if he wants a future here. He was poor last year at Bordeaux, couldn't even get in Aston Villas team, and looked terrible against Exeter. He is 22. If that isn't considered a senior player, what is? 25? 27? He's a man now. Stop making excuses for him. His lack of fitness was his own fault. He should've been training harder whilst he was on loan. Maybe then he'd have got a game or even onto the bench.

12 Jan 2016 00:53:27
Ems personally don't see him making it here but too say he was poor isn't good. The guy went too villa, had an injury when sherwood was trying him at dm. Then as he's getting his fitness back gets recalled, played with enrique at cb and only lasted 60m. Not too mention first game under klopp with new players. Always going to be hard.

12 Jan 2016 01:14:09
Have you played football before EMS? He will be fit, but fit n match fit are 2 different things, you only get match fit by playing games as it's hard to simulate in training.

12 Jan 2016 04:54:31
Lfc 1984, yes I have played. And it is easy to get match fit by training. I suffer a lot of injuries so I'm constantly having to get fit whilst away from the game. I don't have any fancy facilities or physios. I just go for 10 mile jogs and do 20metre shuttle runs for 15 minutes. It really isn't hard to get match fit. I think you're either confusing fitness with sharpness, or your just another Ilori sympathiser making excuses for him.

Tottenham players have regularly claimed their training is harder than a game. Because Poch pushes them. Ilori could've pushed himself if he was that bothered.

{Ed001's Note - no wonder you are always injured if you have that little clue about getting fit for a game. Jogging is bad for the knees. Doing that kind of training is barely keeping you ticking over let alone fit. You really do make yourself look silly at times with your know it all attitude, when you clearly know little about fitness. If you think that makes you match fit, then your knowledge of fitness is laughable.}

It's so misspelt! Seen people even correcting people spelling it right!

11 Jan 2016 19:52:57
Ed2 please can you help in regards to release clauses. My understanding is that a club puts a valuation on a player that anyone in said league can pay. E. g firmino. But if anyone outside the league what's him, the valuation is irrelevant and the club csn ask what they want, or in our case pay vastly over the odds.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - {Ed002's Note - This is a horribly complex area not least because they are written under individual national laws.

The "buy out" clause is legally binding between a club and a player. The "buy out" is effectively what it says - a means for the player to buy himself out of the contract. As an example, if a player wishes to buy himself out of a contract, he pays the applicable FA the amount of the "buy out" clause effectively becoming a free agent. The problem is that in most cases a player would need to obtain that money from the buying club - and this is fraught with issues regarding "tapping up" and, of course, taxation as it can be seen as income for the player and would therefore be subject to income tax. There was a test case about the taxation issue in Spain about three years ago. So "buy out" clauses are very rare.

A "release clause" is far more common in that it gives a figure that the club would accept for the sale of a player to another club - but it is not legally binding except where both parties are in the same country (for the sake of argument I should say that Spain and Portugal count as the same country as do England and Wales). These are normally unreasonably high figures (Messi at Barcelona for example) introduced to act as a deterrent for hostile bids - and even then the club could easily block a move. However, if a club does agree to match a release clause then the selling club would be obliged to ask the player if he is interested - there is no obligation on the player to make a move. Examples are Goetze who decide he wanted to move and Cavani who, regardless of two offers that were made in 2012 that matched or equated to his then "release clause" recognised Napoli did not want to sell and could block a move abroad and he accepted a new package. Since then Napoli said they will listen to offers of ā‚¬60M or so and indeed accepted a bid the following summer - which is of course different.

There is then the becoming popular "termination clause" which is binding between the player and the club and if met would see an offer from anywhere accepted and the player given the opportunity to make a call on a move. This overcomes the issues associated with "buy out" clauses as the money would be paid by one club to another.}

Anybody interested in Brendan Rodgers eds?
Not heard a single club being interested in him unfortunately.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I think he will bide his time, perhaps do a little commentary support and pick and choose the time to return to management.}

11 Jan 2016 22:54:23

Many he could become an Ed?

"Your post is an embarrassment to all Liverpool supporters but you have showed great character!? "

Or

"We will get the live chat working soon we are just in a transitional period right now"

I'll get my goat.

{Ed002's Note - He may already be. I think it is really cool you have a goat.}

11 Jan 2016 23:53:48
Where did you leave the goat?

11 Jan 2016 23:56:39
He is better off doing PR and marketing. If he can sell tiki taka english style to fsg he must be pretty gd. Say we bring him back for marketing role.

12 Jan 2016 01:23:14
Yeah dunno why I said reading?

12 Jan 2016 02:27:40

Hi Eds, Is the football rumours page on Twitter? and if not . why?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't know if it is or not - I think Ed033 would be the guy who could mastermind that for you. Maybe it would help the site.}

11 Jan 2016 23:48:48
HI Eds and Reds

Just liked the FB page - looks good. Twitter might be a useful addition as well, but I was thinking are about how you could possibly make the main website page a bit more user friendly.

I love the site and visit it several times a day, but I have to put my hand up and say I am one of the guilty few that have been pulled up by the EDs with a RTP (and maybe a small slap as well :-) ) after posting a question.

Itā€™s honestly not because I havenā€™t bothered to look, but sometimes it can be hard finding previous posts about a player, especially those from the Eds.

I was wondering if you have ever thought about setting up the page in a ā€œthreadsā€ format so all the discussion on a given topic would all be in the same place (possibly with a button to jump to the posts from the Edā€™s)

Any way just a thought ā€“ I am certainly not complaining as I really appreciate all the hard work from you guys. This is without doubt the best site I have found for getting to the real story.

{Ed001's Note - that doesn't change anything, hence why forum moderators have to spend most of their time deleting repeat threads.}

As long as we beat Exeter we get a home tie with West Ham, I think that this is a very good draw as it'll show us what JK learned from his first game with them.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

11 Jan 2016 20:38:36
I can't say this is the draw I was hoping for but you would hope we will not lose to them three times in one season.

Question for fellow reds and any Ed's who are interested. With the transfer window open and with players in and out of clubs who has been a) the most disappointing signing and b) the worst signing for the club in your opinions. Disappointing and worst not neccessarly being linked. Can go as far back as you can remember. For me the most disappointing was Fernando Morientes. He was quality for Madrid and Spain and still in his prime and for 8 mil he was what appeared to be a bargain. But he could not handle how physical the EPL was and disappeared in games without making much impact. And the worst. Adam Bogdan is close but would have to say Torben Picnique. Remember him . No well he was signed by Souness and disappeared after 2 seasons making only 1 appearance in the second. Remember sitting at Anfield and thinking the rest of that Danish team that won Euro 92 must be awesome because he was rubbish.

11 Jan 2016 18:39:15
A: Joe Cole
B: Poulsen.

11 Jan 2016 18:48:41
A) aquaman
B) balotelli - an idiotic move by the club.

11 Jan 2016 18:48:41
A) aquaman
B) balotelli - an idiotic move by the club.

11 Jan 2016 18:53:59
The signing that wins both categories at the same time for me is Aquilani. Terrible in every eay compounded further by the fact that he obviously had some talent. A p*ss taker of the highest degree, cost us a small fortune both to get him in and then get him back out again. It still wrankles me. Have no idea what he has done since he left, but he is one person that I don't wish the best for.

11 Jan 2016 19:09:53
Been so many disappointing signings over the years but Harry Kewell ranks high. Should have been the answer to our long search for a Barnes replacement and had all the talent needed to be a Liverpool great - just never really clicked for him.
As for worst, take your pick from any of the Souness signings. Paul Stewart, Julian Dicks, Neil Ruddock, Mark Walters, Dean Saunders etc. Man ruined the club with that dross and we've never recovered.

11 Jan 2016 19:10:27
A is going to have to be Glen Johnson. So much potential in terms of crossing shooting besting men. refused tondonhisndefensive duties.

B is definitely balotelli. We opted for a bag of w*nk instead of Remy. We're lumbered without any penetrative up front. A fool that insisted on getting fined by the club (4 times in total? ) Pissed off loic remy and qpr in the process. Made ourselves look like idiots insinuating he failed a medical, br categorically saying balotelli wasn't on the cards and he wasn't interested to then u turn 7 days later. The entire saga was painful to see unfold. And now we're lumbered with his wages, the cost of cutting ties etc. Worst player, attitude, vfm I have seen the club go for. Worse than carroll diouf etc.

11 Jan 2016 19:28:43
Mickrude I lived through the painful Souness mismanagment years but I wouldn't go as far as to say that Saunders and Walters were dross. I thought Saunders was a class act for us and Walters showed some real promise on occasion. In fact I would gladly have the Dean Saunders that played for us in the current team. In fact the current Dean Saunders would probably be more prolific than Benteke.

Ruddock and Stewart were just dreadful signings and should never have happened. Especially Ruddock who is vermin of the highest order on and off the pitch.

11 Jan 2016 19:32:55
A. Robbie Keane - The purchase that showed Benitez had peaked. Even as an Irishman, I hated the idea of Keane coming to Anfield. Not a Liverpool player. We had come so close the season before and here was Benitez showing signs of that effing self destruct button. He is the Padraig Harrington of Managers : aims for perfection when he had enough to win many, many more titles and destroyed good teams seeking that perfect team. Aaargh!

B. Mark Walters - The beginning of the end which has not finished yet. A piss poor player bought by a great player who had no eye for anyone but rubbish players ( Dicks, Ruddock, Clough, Stewart ) . After that the jigsaw puzzle which had been perfect for decades would never fit together again.

PS Not impressed with Klopp's first signing. Makes no sense. Slow kid in a crap league who won't mature into his postion for another 3/ 4 years. At least he didn't cost ā‚¬20million which seems like the default marker that teams were putting on players once they saw the Anfield number coming up. Other problem is if we pay these kids too much, we will never offload them. Delighted to see Ward back. Hope he gets some time to become Number 1 or 2 and Bogdan is sent packing.

11 Jan 2016 19:35:10
Mickrude, Seriously Dean Saunders rubbish You must have been watching a different team to me, scored plenty of goals in a poorly run side.

11 Jan 2016 19:44:11
What an apt username you have Joker.

11 Jan 2016 19:49:58
roberto firmino Ā£30m says it all pure crap.

11 Jan 2016 19:50:15
Paul Konchesky anybody?

11 Jan 2016 19:51:21
Joker,
APadraig Harrinton has three majors under his belt, why don't you ask the majority of golfers over the last 20 + years would they like those in their cabinet.

11 Jan 2016 20:13:50
Harrington then deconstructed/ destroyed his swing to become better. He could have won another 3/ 4 majors easily. Stay with the point I'm making. Lots of managers have never won a major title but it doesn't mean that Benitez reached his peak in comparison to them. He fell short of what he could have achieved because he thought he had to be better than what he is. Same for Paddy. He could have won another two British Opens if he had realised he was better than anyone in that period of his career.

11 Jan 2016 20:27:42
Saunders or Beardsley? Beardsley still had a number of very good years in him and was hounded out by Souness for him. Still stand by my statement he was dross - never Liverpool quality which is why he only lasted a couple of years. Then the b#start scored twice against in one ofor his first games for Villa (the Rosenthal miss)

11 Jan 2016 20:52:12
A. Harry Kewell maybe

B. Sean Dundee / Antonio Nunez.

11 Jan 2016 21:10:20
Is nobody else going to say anything about Joker saying Grujic is slow?! Haha. Deary me.

11 Jan 2016 21:35:39
That's everything that's wrong with our fans (a minority fortunately) at the moment. Slating the kid Grujic before he's even had a training session never mind kicked a ball in anger! I despair I really do, we are becoming more and more like Spurs fans each and every day:- (

11 Jan 2016 21:45:39
The year Rushie went to juve i cried. Only a kid but still rem it. Was it 3.2 million he went for? Then kenny went and brought in Aldo, Barnes, Beardsley and Houghton with the money. Talk about poetry in motion? Fill your boots with them four. Worst? Too many to even start.

11 Jan 2016 21:47:28
A. Cisse especially when drogba was available, felt cheated.

B. Ballotelli for obvious reasons.

11 Jan 2016 22:11:48
Disappointing diouf or diao. Thought we had to good players on our hands.

11 Jan 2016 22:38:16
And the winner for bellend of the year goes to Joker. Running down a kid that we've just signed and we won't even see play with us until next season . holy Jesus we've just hit the bottom. Get a grip you moron will you? If you hate the club and its staff that much just f-off.

11 Jan 2016 23:42:12
a) Ziege - should have been the answer to our left back problems
b) El Hadji Diouf - struggling to find any acceptable words to describe the man.

12 Jan 2016 00:43:41
Sorry ladies. Must have mis typed. I think Grujic is a great signing. I love the way we are continuing to pay over the odds for young talented players who we then loan back to their parent club in order to minimise the possibility that they would arrive with a hangover of homesickness. I think also that it is great that Klopp is planning for a different style of football by bringing in slower midfielders for those days when the rest of the lads are knackered. You could tell that even Messi was nervous tonight knowing that his days are numbered as the worlds number 1. can't wait to beat everyone 10-0 from now on.

12 Jan 2016 01:59:04
what players as klopp paid over the odds for? he's a young kid and that is the agreeement with his club so what's the issue? Given klopps track record for buying young talent and making them into world class talent vs your nonsensical statements based on zero I'd have to say I'm over the moon he's our manger and not the likes of yourself.

11 Jan 2016 18:13:56
If we get 3 points against Arsenal and then I think Kloppo should be knighted. We are down to the bare bones and the players that are coming back into the side will hardly have trained so it will be a big ask. I feel this is a game where Emre Can has to come to the fore and boss that midfield. Not only break up Arsenal's play but go on those swashbuckling runs and hurt the Arsenal defense. Cometh the hour cometh the man: Emre Can.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

11 Jan 2016 19:02:23
We will beat Arsenal šŸ˜Ž.

11 Jan 2016 19:36:54
I would take a draw but hoping for something better.

11 Jan 2016 19:41:35
I love your optimism Ron. I hope your right. We have a weak defense, a brittle midfield, were clueless upfront and our 2 best players are out (Studge and Couts) . I don't want to bitch but we are in this mess because of Mr pearly whites and his zero knowledge of transfers. I't profoundly annoys me because he had the money to buy some real world class talent and he spends the best part of 60 million on Lallana and Benteke. Who have done nothing that anyone else in the squad couldn't have done. Then the Balotelli debacle and Lord knows how much were paying Milner to be useless. It's going to take Kloppo at least two transfer windows to sort out this mess and the worst thing about it is we have people criticising Klopp already. Ridiculous.

11 Jan 2016 20:09:25
Arsenal ALWAYS fall apart as soon as the temperature dips below freezing.
It did this morning - IPSO FACTO we will beat Arsenal.

11 Jan 2016 21:19:48
Ipso Facto We aren't very good at home. my cable TV is being cut off tommorow so maybe every cloud. I would love the boys to beat Arsenal what a confidence booster that would be. Come on red men.

11 Jan 2016 21:45:44
We are not very good against big strong direct teams, home or away. Arsenal are far from that and exactly the type of team we excel against. I'm with Ron I expect us to win.

11 Jan 2016 23:59:22
I think Arsenal is beatable if we go at them and suffocate mathematics. Emre Can needs to be a boss in midfield and suffocate Ozil. Arsenal never fancy a fight and their kids don't like tracking runners and defending facing their goal. Let's give them hell. Now regarding Pipscreamer's post, we have only lost once on the road vs the big teams and won at City and Chelsea with draws at Arsenal and Spurs. That is a very good record, already better than last season's record so none too bothered about it.

11 Jan 2016 17:23:48
Ward. the savior.

No pressure there then, ay?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

11 Jan 2016 17:39:05
To be fair Davey I was with you regarding Ilori. If you can't get into the squad at the worst team in the league, something is wrong. A lot of people (in my opinion) got wrongly excited about his return.

However Ward is actually a very good player. I've not seen anyone brand him the saviour, but he is easily better than Mignolet and Bogdan. Most people are just hoping he gets the chance to show whether he is good enough to be our number 1 going forward.

11 Jan 2016 17:57:30
So you've written Ilori off already?

YNWA.

11 Jan 2016 18:11:48
I still think Ilori looked class for as long as he could run. I am looking forward to him playing more.

11 Jan 2016 18:16:29
Llori!

11 Jan 2016 19:19:04
Llori looked class you have to be an arsenal fan!
Some of you make me laugh.

11 Jan 2016 19:19:41
Agree Ron. He looked calm in possession and decent in the tackle.

11 Jan 2016 19:29:17
EMS, perhaps look at the facts before writing him off. Sherwood didn't sign him. He signed Micah Richards and made him captain. Shoved Ilori into the DM position. Hardly given a chance.

11 Jan 2016 19:40:38
I'm not saying he had a great game or he is the messiah. but 90 mins to prove yourself a liverpool great appears to be the going rate on here!

Maybe some of you should start singing "you're always walk alone"!

Shame on you!

11 Jan 2016 20:33:55
Has ilori slighted you in some way ems, did he troll you or something. I doubt people are creaming their pants at his return. But a fair few would like to see the young man at least given a chance considering his shoddy treatment by brendan and the club.

Opinions are a wonderful thing and i will wager klopp will turn the young man around.

12 Jan 2016 00:05:00
EMS, I don't know what this kid has done to you but you really need to lay off the lad. Sherwood is not a good manager and using his pathetic judgement of players to make your point is just wrong. We were excited to finally see him get a chance and he didn't do too badly. Nothing is wrong with anyone. All we want is for our youth to be given a chance. Is that too hard for you to understand?

11 Jan 2016 17:01:53
some good news on the injury front today, think it's going to need to be got some massive games coming up. I assume the no mention of sturridge means he not back yet?

{Ed002's Note - He is known for his sense of humour and love of the Lassie films Chris.}

11 Jan 2016 16:42:16
That's it nailed then according to brendans law we're signing pato.

lassie comes home is a known Klopp favourite - the one where Lassie gets lost in the fog forrest and is found by several german centre backs.

11 Jan 2016 17:05:26
His favorite lassie film is lassie Die Geschichte von Rauch und Spiegel
Its a classic everyone should see.

11 Jan 2016 17:26:48
If fairness to Rodgers it was clear he never wanted to sign Balotelli, but was superseded by the moronic transfer committee.

{Ed001's Note - he could have blocked it and he was in charge of the transfer committee. Not sure what your point is really?}

11 Jan 2016 18:01:09
Well I'm just going from general quotes from Gerrard etc. Who said that he was the only option, as other targets had gone, they needed a striker etc. What his opinion on him. So his hand was forced, either Balo or nothing. The point is clear from the evolution of the conversation thread.

{Ed001's Note - and who was it that chose not to get any of the other options? It was not the transfer committee, that should be a clue for you.}

11 Jan 2016 19:00:00
Nothing would have been vastly preferable to Balotelli. All he's done is wasted money, time, and resources that could have been dedicated to near anything else more productively.

11 Jan 2016 19:22:59
All Balotelli has done is pissed on everyone.

11 Jan 2016 20:10:20
I see what you did there Mr D. Nice work šŸ˜‰.

12 Jan 2016 00:12:26
Carlitoc, BR can speak for himself. This has been litigated already so stop saying what BR wanted or didn't want to do regarding Balotelli. BR was in charge of the TC, had final say on transfers but suddenly lost his backbone and let it happen if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. The buck stops with him, end of.

KLOPP DENIES PATO LINK

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has denied reports that the club are targeting a move for striker Alexandre Pato.

The former AC Milan striker - currently on loan at Sao Paulo from rivals Corinthians - has been the subject of newspaper reports linking him with a move to Anfield.

But speaking ahead of Wednesday's visit of Arsenal, Klopp said he wasn't prepared to talk about deals until they're done, before adding: "My private advice to you is don't follow the Pato path any longer. "

thank god for that hey boys.

{Ed002's Note - Nebelwand by Klipperty.}

11 Jan 2016 16:06:21
Think so Ed002 you know how gulable all of us all are lol.

11 Jan 2016 16:08:37
liebe es ed.

11 Jan 2016 16:47:19
Ed002 are you sure nebelwand was by klopp he's not in the music video.

11 Jan 2016 19:19:17
C'est Ɖcran de fumĆ©e de klippery eh!

11 Jan 2016 15:36:23
So eds seems our injury problems are easing a little with Sakho Hendo and Ibe all back in the squad. Maybe we don't need to do anything in the transfer market or do you still expect something?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I have repeatedly told you what I expect. It is tedious your asking the same thing over and over.}

11 Jan 2016 15:27:46
I didn't followed Ward either in academy or with Aberadeen (sry for spelling though) . Can anyone shed lights on his strength and areas to improve?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

11 Jan 2016 16:02:25
He is very good at dealing with balls into the box. He's a big lad at 6ft3 and he's well built. He's also got excellent distribution both from his hands and dead ball situations. In terms of the basics he is a good shot stopper and has great reflexs. My only issue with him is his positioning. I have seen him beaten at his near post a few times back in his academy days due to poor positioning. At Aberdeen that looked to have been corrected though.

I've been shoving this guy down my mates throats for years though. I think he's a future No.1.

11 Jan 2016 16:23:12
Can catch a ball and also he can save shots from the corner spot.

11 Jan 2016 17:22:49
Keep your private life with your mates to yourself kidda.

11 Jan 2016 15:25:53
Well Wards back but apparently Migs is fit for Arsenal, have we brought him back for cup games then? it seems so to me, hopefully he'll be tried out as from what the Aberdeen fans are saying he's worth a shot for sure.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Ward makes sense as he does not take up an over 21 slot in the squad.}

11 Jan 2016 15:50:18
Would like to think that award would give Migs, food for thought (Bigdan not pushing him) or Ward takes his spot with his hard work in training. Everyone deserves a chance.

11 Jan 2016 15:10:17
Klopp has said pato is not coming.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

11 Jan 2016 15:46:49
Shocker!

{Ed002's Note - Maybe Klipperty just down graded it from "done deal" to "nailed on". I am very surprised nobody has mentioned a potential it being a "nebelwand"?}

11 Jan 2016 16:05:04
It's a smokescreen. The club haven't told him and cut his sky sports news channel so that it'd be a "nice" suprise.

Klopp to become enraged and kill Ian Ayre on deadline day. Watch this space.

11 Jan 2016 15:00:49
Hey eds first of all thnx for your constant updates durig the transfer frenzy.

I am really happy that Klopp has recalled our talented players out on loan. Given that we will be participating in 4 different tournaments it should give enough chances to them. Then in the summer, more informed decision can be taken.

I would also like to pose a question to Eds and Reds:

What do you think is a better approach :

1. Buying one or two higly rated players, possibly for a high price.

2. Buying more potentials and less rated players at lesser prices so that we have more quality in the cover for each position.

In the last few years, Liverpool seem to have failed on both approaches, except maybe Suarez and Coutinho.

I feel after looking at the mess we are currently in that the first approach is better in some ways.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - we have never done 1. That would be the better approach, as we could then utilise the youth players to provide cover.}

11 Jan 2016 15:11:17
To be fair, we've done the high price part of number 1.

11 Jan 2016 17:42:07
RDL the point about number 1 is buying players that are clearly going to improve the first team. Not your bentekes, lallanas, firminos, markovic etc. There where far better players for those prices every time we purchased these players but we opted to over pay on players that did well at smaller clubs. Sometimes, you buy players playing at a high level for the same amount of money.

11 Jan 2016 18:00:11
Was a bit of a poor joke, Kman. I agree with you and Ed entirely.

11 Jan 2016 18:37:49
1 is more or less the same strategy of Guardiola's Barcelona, seemed to work for them.

11 Jan 2016 15:26:06
Klopps already set in motion option 1.

If these loan back. players prove good and useful then our squad will be a lot stronger and we can use our budget and get the very best player for the position deemed the weakest.

Up until the start of Jan we needed in the summer a Gk, cb, cm, rw/ lw (pace)

Come the summer wr might actually only need a rw. Even then Kent, ojo or Wilson might take there oppourtunity. As with ward, ilori amd now we have grujic.

The summer could be very quiet.

11 Jan 2016 14:45:17
Reading the reports about the progressWard has made at Aberdeen and bearing in mind the the fact that Migs is still making the same errors that he has done since he came, plus the performances of Bogdon maybe we should seriously look at the goalkeeper coach at Aberdeen as well.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Jan 2016 13:06:45
Hey Lads, a few days ago I let u all know what the Australian press/ media were saying about Pato and a deal had been done for 11 million pound, just had an alert come through from the BBC and another LFC related site that they are confirming its been done. Can any one shed some reliable light on it?

If this is the case I'm dumbfounded as to why, this was one I was hoping and praying was not true and that we didn't even have an interest. I can't see how this benefits us r makes our team any better, if people are correct in regards to his attitude I can't for the life of me begin to understand why we would go through with this.

Hoping it's nonsense, if not I hope my thoughts on the player don't bear fruit. Honestly can't believe we can go through with this, shows the club don't learn and refuse to admit they continue to make the same mistakes in the transfer market.

In this moment, I believe.

Think it's great what klopps done with the recalling loans. Really gives them something to work for, hopefully push on and make something of themselves. It also gives the seniors a kick up the backside and hopefully pushes them on with competition. Some will flourish and others won't but it'll sort them out better than loans in other leagues, especially when I fully believe they will get chances.

11 Jan 2016 13:41:51
I think it was necessary Fencey. He is right in what he said about the players being ours and I much prefer this as opposed to wasting more money in the market on players who won't improve the first team squad.

11 Jan 2016 11:54:12
Morning ed's. What with this rumours about discussions with this player and other discussions with that player. Is there any definite talks happening with anyone?

Has this post and poolie's been edited to leave out a player name? Both seem a bit unusual? in their mentioning of a player and this player and that player. weird.

{Ed002's Note - No - people don't care about the names of the players - just as long as the club spend money they don't have - the more the better.}

11 Jan 2016 14:48:44
I think you mean according to FFP we have no money to spend, hasn't stopped any other clubs.

{Ed001's Note - no, he means the club are in significant debt, but still people like you do not understand that.}

11 Jan 2016 10:13:36
Hi all,

It seems the Pato rumours just won't go away, can anyone shed any light as there's still no credible sources as far as I can tell! Also, pleased with the news on Danny Ward returning, really hope the lad gets his chance and we don't end up ruining his chances of making the Wales squad for the Euros! YNWA.

11 Jan 2016 09:58:34

just signed up, the missus as well. hope all goes well. some things are worth fighting for. good luck. robbie.

11 Jan 2016 12:19:19
Tizer - please inform your friend, having read their petition, that they need to apply for a temporary visa known as a 'family of settled person' visa. They will be rejected from the 'indefinite leave to remain visa' as they haven't been married long enough, but the family of settled person (renewable twice) they won't have any grounds to refuse, and will last for 2.5 years (can be renewed after two) .

It's a temporary fix until you can permanently fix it but if the situation is as posted, it will lead to the permanent fix. Immigration office instructions are not to sign-post you down this route - you get given an answer on what you've applied for and that's it. May be that they've already tried it and something went wrong but worth making sure!

11 Jan 2016 12:52:24
hijikle

Thank you for your info. I've passed on your information and they said to thank you and they will get right on it.

Also thanks again to everyone else, truly appreciated.

11 Jan 2016 03:37:15
Ed, assuming Chelsea win the CL, only top 3 in the PL gets to next season's CL right?

Then what if Pool win the Europa? Does it mean only the top 2 get in?

Or is the Europa an 'extra' spot?

It's just me, but I'd rather win the Europa than finish 3rd or something.

We get into CL PLUS win a trophy. :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The maximum is five places for the EPL in the CL under the existing rankings - if Liverpool and Chelsea win in Europe but don't otherwise qualify 4th loses out on CL with Liverpool entering the play offs and 4th entering the EL and 5th missing out entirely. I probably wouldn't start holding your breath just yet.}

11 Jan 2016 10:01:47
I said to my friend after the Stoke match, we need to make Europa league top priority after all the injuries, even if it means finishing 10th.

{Ed002's Note - I am sorry to say but clubs and sponsors, whilst wanting success in all competitions, see the Premier League and winning the Champions League as the big goals. They would never be happy if the team gave up on the EPL to try and win the Europa League.}

11 Jan 2016 12:27:35
Even if we went all in, by no means are we bets equipped to win it, and it's a lottery. At least if we improve, and focus on the league, we will finish where we deserve to and not rely on the pot luck of the cups.

11 Jan 2016 13:04:50
All I mean Ed002 is depending on how we do against Arsenal and United we could have a real struggle on our hands to finish in the top 4.

I'd put first the europa league hoping to win it and gain access to next year champions league, even if it means risking dropping down a few places in the league.

Finish 6th with no europa league trophy or 8th winning the competition is a no brained for me. That way klopp gets to change the squad in the summer and gets a full season.

Saying that winning the europa league will not be easy but if we can play at are best, it's certainly possible.

{Ed002's Note - That will be far from the wishes and expectations of the owners.}

Liking that the changes to the game are happening, some weird rules, though I do fear that if players aren't required to go off, we'll see a lot more diving.

{Ed001's Note - it is only if a card is awarded mate. So they will still have to go off if it is just a foul.}

11 Jan 2016 12:49:22
ah sweet.

10 Jan 2016 22:23:15
Hey ed001

Quick question on who is more highly rated for us, Ryan Fulton or Danny ward?

There's a lot of fuss about ward but heard many good things on Fulton.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - Ward.}

10 Jan 2016 22:01:38
Alright Eds, just seen Danny Ward has been recalled from loan, can you see him getting game time in the prem or being our cup keeper for the season, never seen him play but I've heard he's quite good, great work by the way guys.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it depends on how he gets on, if he does well in training, Klopp will give him his chance.}

10 Jan 2016 21:36:56
Brilliant decision too bring back ward. Should play in the replay against exeter and properly push migs. Leta hope he shines in training. Ed1 your wish of aeeing him in goal hopefully comes true.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed.}

11 Jan 2016 04:35:03
It's my dream to see an academy keeper becoming a first choice keeper at Liverpool. hopefully ward will fulfill this.

11 Jan 2016 08:40:48
Bogdan is clearly not good enough and migs needs real competition. I just hope he gets chances to prove himself as he was getting great experience out on loan and it would be a shame for him to come back and just sit on the bench. But i believe he is actually good enough to succeed and oust migs.

I also feel sorry for his loan club as his contibution was crucial to their improved position in the league.

11 Jan 2016 09:18:03
Just read the echo aticle on John atcherburg and it seems its no lack of effort that sees no real improvements in migs, bogdan etc. So it really boils down to the core quality of the keepers being bought that is the problem. Going on the article it seems he is a perfectionist and he would no doubt work on players weaknesses. But much like benteke some players just cannot be coached. Is this a fair assessment ed 1?

{Ed001's Note - personally I agree up until a point, the point that there is a problem with the coaching too. Not one keeper we have had has made any kind of improvement in their game since Achteberg came in.}

11 Jan 2016 10:19:57
ed001 i have to agree with you there mate, migs has been here for a few years and he has not got better in his weak areas of his ghame also before the gk coach came in are keepers were doing better look at pepe reina he got worse when achterberg came in, i think a new gk coach needs to be brought in, plus a report in the echo is not going to be a bad report on one of the liverpool coaches, i believe that are keepers will only get better if we get a new gk coach until then are keeper will continue to decline, when migs came we were hopefully happy that he would solve our gk crisis but it seems he has gone backwards because at 1st he did have potential.

{Ed001's Note - I disagree on Migs, I said it before we signed him, he was useless with his feet and was a poor signing, and I was not the only one. I do not think changing the coach would have turned Migs into a top class keeper, he was simply not the right choice. There was no potential there.}

11 Jan 2016 10:38:52
I don't know if it's the coaching or the players abilities but one thing is certain . Goalkeeping at our club is a problem position and costs us results or causes our defenders to get nervous and puts our team under pressure in matches, I think we need a new number 1 keeper.

11 Jan 2016 00:31:25
Rumours migs is injured, how true i don't know.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

11 Jan 2016 07:28:16
Its just rumors man. Ward has been recalled back from loan and the papers are just trying to make a story out of it.
He eds, any plans to move Bogdan on now that Ward is back?

{Ed001's Note - yes, Bogdan will be gone as soon as he can be sold, no doubt the summer.}
