duds ive been a long time reader of this great forum, and ive listened to most of the banter for a long long time. As a life time lfc supporter i think adam is a good sining, doning altho over priced will be a better one, when all brits are fetcheng more than there worth. while i would if lfc would mata i will have to qustion the sence in sining a player who will come rom wide to give us what we already have. just my tought. by the way eds. your the internet kings {Ed002's Note - You are very kind. Thank you.}

11 Jul 2011 23:40:43
Eds why has Commolli traveled to Asia with the squad? Should he not be here trying to conduct transfers? Does this mean their will be no signings til he gets back {Ed009's Note - he is watching young talent from out there. No, it doesn't mean that at all.}

11 Jul 2011 23:32:54
ED, you believe we are in the market for a CM once all other targets are signed. Do you believe that the player could be Moussa Sissoko of Toulouse?I would love him in our squad, and could it be a deadline day signing which the fans (and media) seem to love?

Thanks in advance guys
Glov3z the Red {Ed009's Note - I think he is one of the most likely centre midfielders, and also agree that if one is signed, it will be the last signing to take place.}

11 Jul 2011 23:31:32
Any chance of ed002 comin on Twitter? {Ed009's Note - unfortunately it requires a location and in her line of work that would be incredibly dangerous... just so you know "ed002", "ed001" and "ed009" are not valid Twitter names, they're just people called Ed. Follow Isaac_Ed009 for insight.}

Hiya liverpool fans and eds. Just wanted to know do u think per mertesacker wud b intrested in a switch to ourselves due to him stating he wud like to play in the epl. What wud b your rating out of 10 for this. Thanks cpt {Ed009's Note - he is just another name out of the hat. There is no interest and he is far too slow to succeed in the Premier League.}

11 Jul 2011 23:14:36
Eds with woodgate gone to stoke does it leave us with a good chance of signing dann ?If we sign a solid cb, lb, lw i will be happy, never mind aguero we have saurez and carroll they will rack up the goals. we need to get a good start to the season and we will be there or thereabouts come may.Look at the run in we have. {Ed009's Note - why does Woodgate to Stoke effect a Birmingham player's move to us? We have always had a good chance of Dann if we bid for the player.}

11 Jul 2011 23:12:44
Eds or anyone else. Is Stewart Downing a player capable of playing on the left in a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 formation as well as in a 4-4-2/4-4-1-1? I know the lad is a classic winger, are runner with the ball out wide, enjoying crosses rather that dribble or cutting inside. Anyway, is the lad so attacking minded he could fit into a 4-3-3 formation, as it seems this is the one Liverpool would prefer next season {Ed009's Note - he played as part of one for large parts of Villa's season last year.}

11 Jul 2011 23:10:42
Eds what is the latest on the downing situation as yous know it

D690 {Ed009's Note - we have, as far as I know, had a bid accepted. Whether we have or not we are very close to signing the player.}

11 Jul 2011 23:07:04
Javier Mascherano has been offered around several clubs across europe (Inter, PSG, Juventus to name a just a few) for £25mil Even offered in exchange for Cesc Fabregas I love the fact he is surplus to requirements already at Barca, but bothered that they could make a profit on him. At one time we could of made £50mil for him and we were held to ransom, and had to sell him for less than we paid. At the end of the day we made him a world class player.

Hi eds, great site really addicted to this now, check this out more than i do my facebook now lol...

Anyway, i just wanted to ask a question regarding Brad Jones...i read on here a few days back that he has been/is going to be released for family reasons? and this is why we are signing Doni from Roma...but today i was on the official liverpool website and i saw pictures of Charlie Adam in training and Brad Jones was training in the background...also, i'm pretty sure he's with the squad on the tour of Asia....so please could you shed some light on this? and if he is staying then why do we need Doni? not questioning The King just curious as to what is happening with Jones.Thanks guys.

KamLFC (From Pakistan) {Ed009's Note - he is still training and this is not unusual because its important he stays fit for his new club, nearer to his son.}

What a poisoned mind

Liverpool so-called fans sitting at home making up rubbish stories about their second greatest ever footballer, where will it end?

How Sad?

..............

Gerrard may not be fully fit again. That's doing the rounds in Liverpool true or not. Ed maybe you can shed some light on the injury, recovery time etc and whether its important to have club Captain and World star on such a tour. LFC arnt going to say he's shredded are they? {Ed009's Note - there are rumours but absolutely no confirmation. I think we should wait and see until we get an official statement.}

11 Jul 2011 23:04:35
Ed your saying that the Downing deal is close but can you tell me how close is the deal. Are we still negogiating over a fee or has the fee been agreed. Im a really big fan of the player and believe he would be a great addition. {Ed009's Note - as far as I know a bid has been preliminarily accepted. It is impossible to tell for sure until he has his medical though.}

11 Jul 2011 23:01:54
I think we should play Johnson right mid next season, look what tottenham did with bale, I think he can be that good, great speed and beat a man and put a good ball in, Anyone agree?

Gaz the Red

11 Jul 2011 21:26:03
Hey ed great site and addictive too just wanted to know what formation will be lfc playing this season please reply
diehardred {Ed009's Note - I'll just give Kenny a text, he's shopping for this weeks groceries as the minute mind, but when he gets back I'll put a tea on and we'll sit down and have a chat.}

Why do people want baines? Good cross and free kicks but very lightweight and crap at defending.

Mr E

11 Jul 2011 21:22:21
is it me but why is everybody thinking we are in with a chance of winning league.. i like kk but so far his signings are poor and overvalued. carroll not worth the money and isnt that good, henderson not worth the money and isnt that good, adam not bad player but not good enough for a club like liverpool and we paying just short of 10 million with the add ons and yet he only had 1 year left on contract, doni free but isnt that good just like previous flop keepers that we have had to back up reina so we may aswell may give 1 of the young keepers in academy that role and then if they make a mistakes like all previous so called experienced keepers have then we can put it down to there age..

11 Jul 2011 22:46:30
Squad that's gone to Asia is posted in Rumours at 21.43 hope this helps

11 Jul 2011 22:42:29
Ed, If we were to get rid of Meireles, Aquaman and Poulsen, can you see another CM coming in? If so who in your thoughts {Ed009's Note - Yes I think we could see another arrival, if we manage to sort out all the other more problem positions first. Blaise Matuidi and Sissoko are the most likely right now.}

11 Jul 2011 22:41:36
kuyt will be are back up striker next year. suarez an carrol will start and if we are winning we will take of one of them and put kuyt on to play behind the striker. also adam will play the home games an lucas will play the away
likely team: reina, johnson, carra, cahill, cissoko, hendo, gerrard, adam, downing, suarez, carroll

11 Jul 2011 22:40:29
Apparently, Alex Ferguson had an 80's themed party for his players end of season.

Giggs arrived in a Cavalier, Scholes in a Sierra and Rooney chose to come in an Escort.

11 Jul 2011 22:37:05
I know we will sign downing eventually what i find funny though is the fact that wigan have turned round and said that nzogbia is as good as downing so they should demand same fee. So they sell downing for 20 mill they spend 20 mil on nzogbiaKind of back fired for villa eh?

11 Jul 2011 22:27:43
We're being linked with Marcelo again. Great left back He is adept in the ancient art of chancerism though so that is a bit of a turn off.

The Kun

ed009 or ed001, or either of you'd on Facebook? What's your name? {Ed009's Note - I'm afraid we aren't going to add people as friends on Facebook simply because you can't be sure who you'll get. It's nothing personal I'm sure you'll understand.}
yea I understand ed, how sure are you about the downing deal?
{If I was a betting man I'd bet an awful lot on it going through.}

11 Jul 2011 22:20:35
Im just on the virgin train from london to liverpool and philip degen is sat a few seats away from me. He looks to be traveling light so hopefully thats a sign he wont be in liverpool much longer

11 Jul 2011 22:20:07
Hi ed's just a question ? Is the info you have on the downing deal bein close fact ? I for one think he would be a huge improvement to lfc , keep up the good work {Ed009's Note - nothing is ever fact until it is signed and sealed. But I believe it to be true and thats all I can say.}

Bloke from The Northern Echo says the only obstacle with Downing joining #LFC is how to pay the money, but says that shouldn't be a problem. Kind of fits with my last RT.

To all you daft Norway fans baines will not be signing for you end of story

11 Jul 2011 21:51:09
hi ed please post on rumours page .from the last post you said that Hendo was a player with a lot of potential.From what i seen last season he was average with goalscored and assits so what will he actually add to our team.Also do you think were going after downong because he is the only one who will come e.g not sanchez or nasri thanks {Ed009's Note - he created the fourth highest chances in the Premier League last season. That they weren't converted was more to do with Sunderland's finishing than anything else.}

**why are liverpool signing doni from roma? earlier in summer he turned us down due to wages he was offered and now cos he is offered more money he wants to join... just shows he is only coming for the money and not cos he wants to play for a great club like liverpool. plus another point that why we shouldnt sign him is cos he isnt even that good and when he signs and plays the odd games u will see. kennys 1st flop signing mark my words {Ed009's Note - surely if he is only playing a few games a season he can't really manage to be a flop.**

Am I right in thinking he could in fact not agree 'personal terms'? This does not ALWAYS mean money. I imagine that if we offered him the same or LESS that he was getting at Roma (bearing in mind he has only recently been demoted from 1st team, and still most likely on a decent wage), he might have turned it down due to the fact he was going to have to move his entire family and life to a different country?? Maybe he wanted a little bit more money, to make the move a little less difficult.
Yes, players get lots of money, and sometimes its simply becasue they are greedy, but many times its because they feel it is pertinent for them to 'negotiate'.
If he asked for TOO much money, or demanded TOO much, we simply would not be signing him.
I personally feel he will be an excellent and reliable backup to Reina.
Good signing DCKK.

The Insane {Ed009's Note - what's more we don't know that we offered him more money this time, he could have just reconsidered his position, couldn't he?}

hey eds marcus here from trinidad, thinks look good so far.....read what eds wrote on situation with bastos hope we could secure a deal for him he is one of the best strikers of the football around...hopefully we could secure downing as well great jobs as always eds breaking the news before anyone else....just three questions eds?
1. do you know if we ever scouted/looked at marvin martin of sochaux...the boy is 23 yrs old att mid could play on the wings and had 19 assists in ligue 1 last year that is the most assists in any league in europe i think.
2.do you think ayala would be going out on loan? i watched him a bit last season he looked good.
3. i never was able to see the team under KK before.. tell me if you could please in regards to relationship with other managers in the prem?it seems to me like the majority of them are saf allies how do they get on with the King? {Ed009's Note - 1) I don't think we ever had any real interest in the player. No idea why but thats all I can say! 2) I imagine he will go on loan again, so he can get another season of first team football under his belt before coming back to us because he is a potentially very good player. 3) As far as I'm aware everyone is amiable with Kenny. He is a very charismatic character and you just have to look at post match interviews to see the respect they have for him. Except silly Arsene...}

hi ed some inside news from a liverpool scout very high up he is not sure if gerrard will make a return in football as his operation has not been successful make your own ideas of this.

11 Jul 2011 20:21:02
Hi Ed,

I know Torres is no longer a Liverpool player but as a football fan what intrigues me is "How good he will be for Chelsea?"

My opinion is that his best is past him and Liverpool received his best performances....But at the same time I also believe that this season is going to be his best for the next 4-5 years (and for the rest of his career)..

Whats your take?

LiverBird {Ed002's Note - For me it would be guess work, but I suspect having the summer off has helped. Chelsea will play perhaps a little differently this coming year which may help.}

11 Jul 2011 20:19:55
Eds can i ask if kenny and damien are out of the country will it hold up any transfers or will we not see any activity at all while they are away

D690 {Ed002's Note - Refer to earlier answers please.}

11 Jul 2011 20:13:08
i believe that lfc don't sign downing after arsenal join to the race. Instead the club start looking to bastos mata or nzogbia all players better than downer

11 Jul 2011 20:05:22
i think liverpool'll buy downing baines dann maybe adam johnson as well

trust me

11 Jul 2011 20:05:11
ssn: sky sources alexander doni to have lfc meducal tommorow mitchT2000 ANY THOUGTS EDS???? :) {Ed002's Note - I was tld yesterday he was traveling around now, so it makes sense.}

Jul 2011 20:03:43
Eds - Any New Updates on the Downing, Bastos and Cissohko front, doni will be done and dusted 2mz, so all we need then is a LB, LW and 2nd CF {Ed002's Note - Please read the days posts.}

11 Jul 2011 20:03:26
ed is it too early for wisdom to b contending for the first 11 ? tanx {Ed002's Note - Yes, certainly on a regular basis.}

11 Jul 2011 20:02:36
Hi Ed, I can't find a link for the squad which has gone to China. Can you help? Are there any of the young guns such as Sterling, Morgan, Suso or Coady out there. Would be a great help and experience for them if they have gone. Thanks {Ed002's Note - Someone should be able to help.}

11 Jul 2011 19:34:12
Nzogbia will not join LFC...

Whelan said: I see some players being sold for £20m or £30m and Zoggy s better. We ve had bids, but they re nowhere near our valuation .

Downing will be the player KD signs to play on the left wing next season. Forget about Nzogbia, it ain't happening.

11 Jul 2011 19:33:46
Shakhtar Donetsk has some brilliant pacey young players.. they created havoc this season in champions league.. i know King Kenny isn't reading this and nobody will take this msg to him.. just a thought that if we might bring a player or two from them, it will do wonders.. We desperately need speed and flair.. Suarez has flair but one or two more players won't hurt us..
Messi might be a good idea if we can somehow squeeze him into our starting 11.. again just a thought..
Don't abuse me.. i'm just trying some light hearted humor..

11 Jul 2011 19:29:10
Ed what happened to macca's claims that benzema was all but done? If that was meant to happen doesn't it show that we are in the market for a big name striker {Ed002's Note - It did not happen - things changed. Liverpool are not as far as I know in the name for a "big name" striker. Sorry.}

11 Jul 2011 19:26:42
Ed001 has moved over to the darkside, more commonly known as Twitter Would be good if we started a Liverpool rumours users link? You on it Blair, Irish Kev or other regular users.

----------------

No mate,

I keep an eye on it at times but just use good ol facebook really
I don't think it will ever happen because people like the anonymity of this site but i don't know - maybe the eds have a different idea?
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

11 Jul 2011 19:23:22
Ed if I am successful I will make sure to mention you as my inspiration.
Adam O'K ;) YNWA. {Ed009's Note - I will hold you to that promise and ban your IP if not mate... haha}
===========
Erm, excuse me "Irish" Adam O'K?
I'll take some of that credit too lol
Best of luck with the football mate
As the ed said, just believe in yourself & you'll be fine
Ireland needs some decent centre mids now so hopefully you'll make it - just be sure to keep up the education on the side.
At least keep your maths studied so you'll be able to count your 100k a week (hopefully) you'll be earning lol
I'll keep my fingers, toes & eyes crossed for ya mate.
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

11 Jul 2011 19:16:03
Ed i think if liverpool are going to buy another stiker we need a quick player who is a poacher like hernandez. DO you know any players that fit that bill just out of interest as the players we are linked to as strikers eg park chu young are not that sort of player? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps some of the posters will have an opinion.}

11 Jul 2011 19:10:33
Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows who we'll go for if we don't get Downing? I know posts on here suggest Mata, which I don't think will happen personally, but I'd prefer Adam Johnson if we didn't get Downing. How likely is it we'll get Downing (1-10) and if not chances of getting Adam Johnson (1-10)? Cheers {Ed028's Note - 7,4}

11 Jul 2011 19:07:33
will joe cole be a liverpool player next season, quite possibly????

heard a rumour that instead of downing going for out of favor adam johnson how true is this?

11 Jul 2011 19:04:32
I expect Cissokho and Ings as signings...as for the winger sitcho, henderson/gerrard pushed out right and the acquisition of a left winger

wks

11 Jul 2011 19:00:18
Ed with Inter interested in Merellis wouldn't it make sense to try and sign Sneijder with 15 million on top?

I know he may snub as there's no CL football this season, but Kenny may be able to persued him to join. He's an excellent player who would add more quality in the middle.

Why not even try Alberto in the deal as well instead of any money changing hands (or maybe 5 million to Inter tops). {Ed028's Note - Sneijder is not moving this summer according to Inter}

11 Jul 2011 18:58:34
Eds, i just watched a video on the liverpool website and i noticed that comolli is in asia with the squad. Does that mean there will be no signings until the tour is over? {Ed028's Note - There is a team of rep's who can take care of transfers on behalf of DC & KK, Doni having a medical tomorrow is an example}

11 Jul 2011 18:38:14
Just a quick question eds, is Phil Thompson back with Liverpool in some capacity? I only ask as there is a picture of him on the Liverpool site on the pre season tour.

Cheers {Ed002's Note - I really don't know. Sorry.}

11 Jul 2011 18:42:31
Ed you said Valencia are preparing for life without Mata but their president has said he is not for sale.Has the situation changed or is this a strategy to inflate the price tag? {Ed028's Note - Different Ed, In my opinion the latter}

11 Jul 2011 18:41:19
Hi Ed's, i was just wondering if its any truth in Downings medical too night? {Ed028's Note - Nope}

11 Jul 2011 18:36:59
Ed, just got back from a year out in the Amazon, is it true that there has been an epic swindle and G & H are no longer teh club's owner and King Kenny is manager and the new owners are spending money
:-) {Ed028's Note - We are glad you came to us first instead of the official website.....It's been an epic swindle of epic swindles, and yes, we are in much better hands now...}

11 Jul 2011 18:28:24
Aly Cissoko seems to be flavour of the month right now.

A couple of questions.

Why are Lyon reportedly ready to let him go for less than they paid for him ?

Did anyone watch him regularly over the last 12 months - a bit of research on the net suggests he played very poorly last season.

Andrea Dossena had one good season, cost us a lot of money and was hard to shift on. Let's buy a left-back we know can operate on a consistent basis in the EPL - Jose Enrique ? (but not for £15m)

11 Jul 2011 18:26:41
ED can u answer these questions please i just want to get your thoughts?

1. What do you think Kuyts role will be next seasons?

2. Kuyt or Henderson for a regular first team place?

3. Adam or lucas for a regular first team place?

4. Your valuation for Lucas Leiva?

5. Your valuation of Gerrard?

Just intrested in the valuations you say. {Ed002's Note - (1) From the bench primarily as a striker; (2) Henderson; (3) Not sure it is one or the other; (4/5) I would rather not.}

11 Jul 2011 18:23:19
hi eds
i know you cant read minds but do you think kenny is looking for two wingers for both sides and should we be expected atleast 2 wingers coming in this window or do you think the January window will be more busy and we might see the second winger purchased then?

Hi Ed, do you think liverpool will go in for Bastos, Mata or Johnson if we get downing
Thanks {Ed028's Note - It's possible, but unlikely at the moment}

11 Jul 2011 18:22:23
Hey Ed, This is a personal view of mine, but I have a feeling most of our targets are either experienced premier League players or British players, favored by KK and some French players favored by DC.

And Valencia confirming today that there was no serious offer for Mata ever made only seems to confirm this. :D

Thought it would be nice to post it, hopefully no one will bother you with queries about Neymar, Mata, Aguero and other rubbish.

ed, i have heard j.cole is on the verge of moving to hamburg for 10.4m. is there any truth in this? {Ed028's Note - Hardly on the verge as he is in China, however there is interest from Hamburg, they could be in initial contact but I've heard nothing}

11 Jul 2011 18:16:29
Ed, do you know of any interest in Valencia left-back Jeremy Mathieu and Juventus' left-back Paolo de Ceglie? Both seem like good players and would fit the bill as we may be priced out of Cissokho who would be my first choice. {Ed028's Note - No interest in either as far as I know, Cissokho would be my first choice also}

11 Jul 2011 18:12:44
people saying clubs are putting bids in for players as "smoke screens" cant be right. no club would put a bid in as a smoke screen just in case that bid is accepted and they end up with a player the did not want.

Well.its six oclock, And no Downing.....Thought it was a done deal by all the media.......Lol. Eds I Honestly dont think kk will be held to ransom.

Eds, I've been following the Downing transfer talk and there's been some discussion about him potentially handing in a transfer request. It's been talked about for days and I'm taking it that he hasn't. It seems to me that he wants the move. Any reason you see that he hasn't submitted the request? For all I know he may have and it hasn't been made public. Sorry if this has been asked already. LFC412 {Ed028's Note - Downing has yet to hand in a transfer request, don't know of any reason to support this sorry}

11 Jul 2011 18:03:02
Instead of increasing the bid from 15 million to somewhere near 20 million for Downing why don't we just buy Nzogbia and Sissoko for the same money?

Good bit of business for me, both younger than Downing, and both offer a better selling on fee if we decide to cash in in years to come?

Kinda kills two birds with one stone and fills the areas of the team where we need most?

A) have liverpool put in a solid bid for downing

B) have a guess when the transfer will be finalised

C) are there any other clubs that want him

This isnt a rumour this is just what I think will happen in the coming months:

In:
Downing
Jose Enrique
Doni
Young Striker
Another Winger aswell as Downing

Out:
Paul Konchesky
Joe Cole
Poulsen
Milan Jovanovic
Brad Jones

Anything else in would be a bonus I think but overall if this signings occur I think we will be able to cement a top 4 spot this year and maybe even challenge for the title

ED on the Liverpool sit they have uploaded pictures of training in China, there is a picture of Phil Thompson there, and what looks to be Ian Rush next to him, both in Liverpool gear ... for liverpool club 2 make fortunes sign honda very good player would cost 15-20 mill the club would recoup triple that in merchandise alone and if it doesnt work out still recoup half the amount we paid leaving good profit.. {Ed002's Note - Rubbish - you clearly have no idea how merchandising works.}

Someone mentioned AFL architects on here the other day with regards to a new stadium.

I searched for them today and under their Google Map's listing comes an image from the owner of the company which is a new stadium project with 'The Kop' clearly labelled as one of it's stands.

I've uploaded the image to the Liverpool Sightings page.

I have no "in the know" information regarding to Liverpool FC as I live in Ireland, but maybe someone on here might be able to make sense of it all. It's a nice stadium design all the same.

I'm guessing it's a new design but I may be wrong?

-Shane. {Ed002's Note - I think it was a study for the previous owners, no more than that.}

The insane and the other poster, i've no idea why that post was put on again with the first few lines were left out. If you look at around half one you'll see the post in its entirey and it does make sense first time round. I couldn't understand it myself when it came back on with bits missing and i wrote it. Have a read of the original mate, was around half one.it should make sense then.I was replying to a post who'd listed a load of bulls**t points that in essence said we're no better off then last season.

11 Jul 2011 16:31:19
i know this wont please everyone but baines would be a brilliant signing, he is probably just a little bit behind ashley cole, but coming to us would get ahead of him he's a cracking player also i know this next player is a former blue but what about lescott ? he's going to get pushed out of the city team again this season and we can give him first team football and he is a solid centre half who also is a goal threat from corners etc

11 Jul 2011 16:23:07
Eds, just wanted to say that I'm worried Stewart Downing might be too good-looking to be a success at LFC.

In fact the whole transfer policy might be dangerously off-course.
In the 80s my bluenose female workmate always used to go on about how ugly the LFC squad were, and whilst Peter Beardsley and co did indeed rule the league, I had to agree with her that they were not 'lookers' by modern standards.

Henderson and Charlie Adam represent a step in the right direction, but to recreate the success of past decades, we urgently need to target more ugly players.
John Flanagan is a fine example of a player who won't be so focused on this week's hair grooming product that he forgets to put in a tackle now and then.

Ugliness worked for us in the 80s, and by God it can work again.

Eds do you think everybody is right to be worried about wenger supposedly going after our targets? Let's face it he's the stingiest manager in the league, and above all else, he's one of the best in the world when it comes to signing realtivly unknown players and turning them into great players, why would he try and hijack downing(clearly too expensive)mata(well out of wengers usual price range) and cissokho? Again, a lot to spent on a defender, I'm just questioning the validity of these claims, as you can tell. Please post in rumours. Thanks eds. Welshboy Dave {Ed002's Note - I would not get too worried about it.}

Hi Eds, in my opinion selling Torres for 50 million has to be the best piece of business of all time He never scored more than 20 league goals before he came to us and only did it once for us in his great first season I know he was injured the last 2 seasons which brings me to the the next point he is Always injured I think like many footballers before him he is past his best at only 27 What do yis think? hey eds, would just like your opinions on a few things, i heard this morning on ssn that kenny had said that liverpool could still be in for 1 or 2more players but it also seemed a possibilty that liverpool could be done spending already, is this a ploy to try and give the media the wrong message and show them were doing things the liverpool way and we are going about our business in a respectful manner and behind the scenes were doing everything we can to bring players in? or do u beleive this to be truthful?
also eds any news from the interest in jack collison? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any firm interest in Collison and try not to hang off every word in interviews or trying to read something in to everything said. He was asked a question, gave an answer and probably did not think too much about it. If he said three more players were arriving not one or two, would that send a different message?}

Do you know the list of LFC players who are on tour in Asia?

11 Jul 2011 14:22:13
Eds, what is your rating on Insua? I think he is worth giving the chance. He is only 22 and played for Liverpool regularly when he was 20/21 years old while DC said defenders peaked at 26-31 years old. If you look at his 2008-09 stats it was impressive. So why not give him than chance? Under the guidance of KK and SC he Will improve. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what he is like at present - he has been out on loan. As such I can't comment.}

11 Jul 2011 14:15:45
Hi ed do you think it is realistic that we would sign
Baines, Bastos, a RW, a CB and a LW?
As these in my opion are the problem area's
I also dont think we will sign anouther striker with Suarez, Carrol and Kuyt unless we do go for a 4-3-3 line up. {Ed002's Note - No, it is not realistic.}

Arsenals bid for downing is just to show intent to cesc and nasri who wenger is desperate to keep, if he loses out he still saves face as lfc for downing has been nailed on for some time... expect this so called "bid" from arsenal to change nothing above all eles downing WANTS the lfc move

good times ahead

whats your take on it eds?

Ed002, i've not seen eye to eye with your opinion on a few things. first i was suprised how curt you could be in your answers.But always respected your orionin because you are 1 of about 5 poster's and Eds that really is, could be wrong and their may be more people. My point being that i also agree with the poster who described you as Geoff Boycott. Straight talking Yorkshire man who didn't suffer fools gladly. Its defo true. But my point is is that i understand now why you are curt with your answers sometimes. I cant belive how many fans ask the same question over and over and expect you write something nice and flowery and are taken aback when you tell them straight or just look at the previous posts. Would you say Ed that you have a slight soft spot for Liverpool, it seems your more optimistic then some fans who fail to remember out net spend last years summer window was around plus 2 mil. Amazing site, amazing jobs all the Eds and particularly you and Ed001, no offence other eds you all do a great job.Thanks Jonson6 {Ed002's Note - Of course I have a soft spot for Liverpool. I really hope we go for Leighton Baines and Enrique is a bluff. Leighton Baines is definitely one of the best current left backs and hands down the most promising left back in the prem. Plus he's English, a LFC fan.

Am i the only one worried about our club?

Sept 2010

We were told finding new owners was taking so long as they wanted buyers who had the clubs best interests at heart. Owners that were commited to building a new ground.

Oct 2010

New owners come in and instantly state they are not commited to building a new ground. However will invest in playing staff and will only act in the clubs long term interest.

Nov 2010

New owners back faltering manager (Roy Hodgson)and deside not to exercise clause allowing him to be removed for free.

Jan 2011

After not backing him early in the window the owners pay to remove manager. Then simply reinvest money generated from player sales.

April 2011

First deadline given by Liverpool Council for a decision on the stadium is missed.

May 2011

Club annouce they are exploring the possibilty of naming right "ONLY if we move to new ground".

Jun 2011

Deadline on option for Stanley Park lease is missed.

July 2011

Club officials say that naming rights will be sold even if we stay at anfield.

Still no actual development on the ground meaning if we stay at anfield work wont be viable to start until next close season at the earliest.

The declaration of "putting finance in place" - More borrowing.

A total of £23m invested in new players in CM with Aqualini and Meirles to be sold to cover the cost.

9 months on nothing changed. Im getting Deja Vue.

More of a theoretical link than a rumour, but with the departure of Pirlo to Juventus, AC Milan are being heavily linked with Fiorentina'a Riccardo Montolivo. They see him as the ideal 'regista' (deep-lying playmaker in the Pirlo mould.) Aquilani has been linked to La Viola, indeed, if Montolivo were to depart then the Aquilani link could strengthen. Perhaps some sort of swap-deal (admittedly extremely optimistic, top players are rarely included in swaps) for Juan Vargas. He's the only player of their's I reckon we could use. Also, check out the Stewart Downing 'pinpoint accuracy' video to see what he can bring to the team.

Hi eds
What do you think are the most likely transfers in to be tied up by Liverpool - eg. Downing, Enrique, Dann, etc. - ? {Ed009's Note - the three you mentioned, probably. Downing is of course the most likely.}

Hi ED,

Did I see that DC is in China with the rest of the squad? Who will negotiating player sales and purchases in his absence? Will this slow down (even more) the process.

JRG {Ed009's Note - you ought to read the previous posts mate. Negotiations can take place over phone or video call and the player can fly out to Asia or vice versa in order to sign the contract. I'm sure that everything won't come to a stop.}

I believe that suarez & gerrard are serious goal threats. Kuyt aswell when played centrally. Carroll also but he needs to be on the end of good service. Look how well Kuyt & Suarez combine. My point is we don't need to change too much. Just the left side & bring up some youth

11 Jul 2011 10:57:29
hi eds great site, first time writer. Just wandering if any dealings will be slowed up this week due to DC and KK both being on tour. I know IT lets you do anything these days but 7000miles seems a bit far for any personal touches to be made ie, face to face contact ect.

Reds / Eds
For the Aguero dreamers, now read the new stadium dreamers.
I posted last night on this and was stoned from a baying mob, a bit. Lol.
OK, the reality -
London Olympic Stadium costs to hit £525 million (from BBC website, June 2011). The original costing was £280 million.
Now, yes, the stadium is larger than we may initially want (it's 80,000 capacity), and these are London prices we're talking about.
But the lesson is there to be learned.
It is entirely the worst time economically, in recent years, to be embarking on a project like this.
This is not to denegrate FSG, because we all agreed with their plan to develop gradually and sustainably.
And I do believe that they will make good on that.
But gradually being the operative word. I'm talking about medium to long term.
And, this in itself, will partly depend on on-going success (and the subsequent player investment that needs) on the field.
So there. Feel free to take a shot or whatever.
Eds I hope you can say something different on this, but I personally feel a dose of cold, hard reality is needed on this issue.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - I imagine that there is a great deal of thinking to be done. It will mean borrowing a significant amount of money but revenues will obviously be increased as well. It has to be a long-term plan and commitment by the owners. In a way it is similar to Arsenal, but Highbury was redeveloped in to apartments - and I am not so sure Anfield lends itself to that.}

News:
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish intends to follow up the signings of Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam by bringing in more fresh faces before the close of the transfer window. Stewart Downing, Juan Mata and Jose Enrique are among the players to be linked with the Reds, while Dalglish acknowledged some players could be leaving Anfield

Hi guys..
Ed what you think about this Downing transfer? 20mil is a lot of money? u think we shoudl land him for 20 mil? or looking at turan, mata or even adam johnson?

Also regarding the LB..we have been associated with everyone in this world..
Whom do u rate personally?? enrique or Sissokho?

Also If we need to challenge for thr titkle...i think we are still in short at back?
ed what u think whom are we gonna sign for back?
also what bout the striker..
u remember we had an interest in Ola Tionoven?/
i mean he is quality, young and has pace and finishing capabilities..
10mill would be enough to get him...
whats ur thoughts ed? {Ed009's Note - 20 million is a lot of money but we are almost certainly going to be signing the player and there comes a time when we should stop questioning the decision and give the player a chance. We have shown no recent interest in Turan unfortunately, whereas the other players are potentially options I suppose.

Cissokho is a better player then Enrique, but Enrique is not bad himself in my opinion, and is the likelier of the two. Scott Dann is the most likely centre back and the best option in my opinion.

I'm not sure we will be signing a striker, but if we do I imagine it will be a young player for under 10 million or around that mark. Hoarau is an option again.}

hey eds, i've posted a couple of times here from Australia. I don't believe people should be making assumptions about how much money we will spend on players. all we really know is that king kenny and co. would like to bring the wages down, but nothing is said about the actual transfer fees, no player is out of our reach i believe, what do u think?

HI Ed- from your experience how much of transfers are completed within the first couple of weeks? So should we realx and wait till something happens, or expect the majority of signings to be completed within the next 2 weeks also i keep harping on about Ryad Boudebouz but i think he'd be a great signing, Great site {Ed009's Note - there is no need to panic. We made 2 signings in the first month and a little bit, so surely if we make 4 in the two months following Adam, the window will have been a great success.}

11 Jul 2011 10:10:49
Ed do you think we are going after the priority signings first eg adam, downing etc. Then like macca has said we will try and maybe bring in one or two big name suprises later on in the transfer window if we are able to ship out all the deadwood. DO you think they may be a big name signing eg higuin pato aguero benzema lavezzi etc once we have got all the priority signing and shipped out deadwood? {Ed009's Note - Personally I don't believe we will sign a big name striker. I think it makes far more sense to buy another winger on top of Downing if we have money left. Out of those names listed Lavezzi is probably the most feasible.}

11 Jul 2011 10:07:28
ed what do you think about if we get stewert downing? me personally i dont rate him but the king must see something in him. i trust in the king but just dont rate downing one bit at all. what do you think ed? {Ed009's Note - he's a very good player. He may not have the flair that some do, but he can beat his man and whip in a cross. He is consistently in the top five for assists in the premier league - whilst setting up the strikers of Villa and Boro - and I think we can expect him to get even more when aiming for big Andy.}

ED what are the chances out of 10 do you think the only source people have on here is tomato sauce? why do people say my source? its the computer or the postman thats the source total BULL S they are so sad they are even dragging names up so unlikely just to get a response or to try and look clever, why not just get real and stop making liverpool fans look like gob sh tes its a rumour site not a liars site, out of 10? the editors must be fed up with that shout, who started that one? i would stop answering them they are asking for an opinion on a newspaper article that makes things up aswell, im fed up, bob paisleys skids {Ed009's Note - go and have a lie down mate, it will all be better soon!}

11 Jul 2011 10:06:18
I have good sauces, namely HP and Reggae Reggae, who say it's about 99% positive that we will definitely sign anyone linked to us in the BBC gossip column and 100% that we will sign anyone mentioned on Twitter or SSN. FACT. My other sauce, Ketchup, says we are planning on buying enough players to start our own super-league, but is annoyed because we are in talks with BBQ over a potential sponsorship deal. All this will happen by 3:30pm today, make sure you check Twitter and SSN religiously until then as the anticipation will drive you crazy. You heard it here first.

11 Jul 2011 10:09:37
{Ed001's Note - there does seem to be an intent to try and bring in one more central midfielder, not sure whether it will be a defensive midfielder or not though. I wouldn't expect one in until the priority positions are sorted now though, unless a target becomes available on the cheap.}

why the hell always center midfielders we even have that sh...t Poulsen. when is he gonna leave? Gerrard, Adam, Lucas, Meirrales, Spearing, Aquillani, Henderson, Shevly.
We already have 9 players who plays for that position, still wanting more, this is hilarious, at least get some of them out first ( Poulsen, Aquillani, Spearing etc).

11 Jul 2011 09:53:23
So no one has the gut to buy Aquaman Even Fiorentina wants just to take him on a season long loan
One of Rafa Benitez's huge mistakes.
Real Madriod offered 18M + Wesly Sniejder, but LFC & Rafa refused to accpet it. Look at Wesly now one of the best players in the world atm. With that
Money form the sale Rafa could have bought someone like Lavezzi or Tevez to play with Torrres. Rafa stupid decisions destroyed his Liverpool Carrier though a great Football manager

11 Jul 2011 09:52:53
Hi Ed,
With DC and KK being away in china, will it stop us making any new major signings exluding the Downing deal which is more or less done
For eg Enrique, Sissokho, Mata, Dann ect...??? {Ed002's Note - No, life goes on.}

11 Jul 2011 09:51:02
Morning Ed's... Could you clarify for me how the loan situation works out with players, ie, who pays their wages? {Ed002's Note - It is actually done on a case-by-case basis. Options are (a) Loaning club get paid a fee for letting a player go on loan for the season and (1) the loaning club contribute towards his wages, or (2) the club he is loaned to pay them all; (b) A player goes on loan with no fee paid to the loaning club and the club he is loaned to pays his wages; (c) A player goes on loan with no fee paid to the loaning club and the player's his wages are paid by the loaning club; (d) A player goes on loan with no fee paid to the loaning club and the player's his wages are paid jointly by the two clubs involved. Much depends whether the player is being loaned out as a youngster to get experience, to be put in the shop window, to be gotten off the wages etc..}

11 Jul 2011 09:50:33
There probably wont be a deal for Downing this week as Damien Comolli is with Liverpool on the Asian Tour. This probably to scout Kinese talents

11 Jul 2011 09:45:17
Ed you say it is possible part of the downing deal could be done today , are we close to agreeing a deal then? {Ed009's Note - the deal could take a week, it could take a day. The player is desperate to join us so it is simply a case of putting in an acceptable bid. I see no reason why that can't happen today, but at the same time, we might pursue other targets first etc. Do you see what I mean?}

Morning,
There is another excelant column bu Paul Tomkins, pretty much summing up my feelings about this summers transfers so far. If people want to check it out google The Tomkins Times. It really is a very good peice.

Dear Eds and fellow Reds

... i have just been told something that i'd like to share with you. This is all speculation as far as i am concerned, and anyone who can back it up or dismiss it; would you please reply to this..?

The reason Liverpool are not buying many players;

Liverpool have already been outspent in the transfer window for the umpteenth year running; the reason this time around - despite new owners, more investment and better sponsor deals - is the Manager

I have been told by a moderately reliable source that he has heard from a club physio that KK has been told that he may sell whomsoever he likes but he cannot spend more than 20 million more on a new player/ players in this window (other than money already paid for Henderson etc).. he may, however, use money generated from any sales just as in last January- that is why the focus on Downing and youngsters with the attempt to sell/ reduce wage bill for funds and room for one more defensive signing (not CB but LB)... no targets were mentioned.

The reason? the Owners have an absolute target of champions league football. They will spend more money next summer or, if needed, even in January - PROVIDED Liverpool are in 5th position on Dec 31st and in striking range of 3rd at least (otherwise, if we finish below European spots, KK may leave at the end of the season through Mutual agreement, making way for a new manager who will then rebuild the squad properly for the next campaign). IF we end in the Top 3 with a good record in the cup and against rivals (and get into C.league obviously), then KK will have more to spend than 'any LFC manager ever had'

Don't shoot the messenger

The red winger

11 Jul 2011 09:23:05
Ed .. Am i correct in thinking it was Kenny Dalglish that recommended Arda Turan to Rafa when he was in Charge . If so does'nt it seem odd that Kenny has not followed up that interest . Especially as Turan would walk to Anfield given the opportunity.
Also i am lead to believe that Juan Mata is waiting to see what happens with Fabregas before his decision on a move to Arsenal.. {Ed009's Note - yes it does seem odd, but there is nothing more we can do than wonder why. There is nothing more I can say.}

11 Jul 2011 09:15:44
Hi Eds

loving the site as always - i have a generic question for you - if any of the the eds become aware of a bid for a player, will/do you announce it, kind of like breaking news, so to speak, - ie the bastos bid - that hasnt been reported anywhere else but you guys are saying it definitely happened (im with you guys on it, naturally) - or do/will you just wait for someone to ask the question about a player first before you say anything?

Cheers

Ray {Ed009's Note - there isn't usually a tool to 'announce' a bid, but as soon as somebody asks a question related to, for example a winger - which happens very often - we'll usually say it then.}

If we're to move house, as it seems most at the moment, an 80k seater would set us up nicely, imo.
60k won't be enough as we'll be some 16k seats behind the Scum and equal with Arsenal, who though will have an advantage as their ticke prices are relatively higher.

So for, 80k would do with 75k being the minimum.
Ed, what capacity do you think we'll be looking at? Would 80k be possible?
Lastly, after all the paper work's been done, when do you see work on the new stadia commencing?

Gillies&Spencer {Ed009's Note - between 60,000 and 70,000. There is little chance of going straight to 80,000, but we could see something similar to Old Trafford where we add stands as a means of redevelopment whenever needed. I doubt work will actually get under way for months yet.}

11 Jul 2011 08:25:34
Mr Ed.

A few das ago on twitter Damien Commoli tweeted that adam johnson was playing snooker at his house.

If true, do you reckon we could make a move or is Commoli jus having a bit of banter?

{Ed002's Note - I am sorry but Twitter is not something I can sensibly comment on.}

11 Jul 2011 08:12:15
{Ed009's Note - Downing is a very good player. He is lumbered with a reputation as the plodding English excuse for a winger, but he gets a vast amount of assists - firing in crosses for the strikers of Villa and Middlesborough - which will only increase markedly with Carroll to aim for. 18 million is perhaps a large sum of money, but if its what it takes to get the player Kenny wants, then I'm happy.}
========================================
Well said Ed009

Aquilani to stay and become a major player for LFC this year. KK to boost his ego by playing him from the start of the season and giving him the chance to repeat his form of last season for Juve. Kennys motivational skills will ensure we have a class act by October.
My source? Myself and 40 years experience watching Liverpool whilst standing on the Kop watching KK in his heyday

Hi Eds et al.
This isn't a known target of ours, I'm not saying we are looking at/are going to sign him, I'm not even linking him to LFC, however;
What is the situation with Roger Johnson, and what do you think of him, Ed?
Thanks,
Brad. {Ed002's Note - I think Scott Dann is a more likely target. Both have played well for a couple of years when not injured.}

11 Jul 2011 07:46:02
If we get downing will we go for another winger or any foreign talent at all? {Ed002's Note - There must be a chance still.}

11 Jul 2011 07:44:01
sure..he wont be coming to us. atlfc70 {Ed009's Note - I have spoken to Ed016 since that was posted and asked him what he meant by it. He was not privy to the nformation which made me come information which made me come to my conclusion. Believe me and is a bad trainer for him. Mancini doesn't want him at the club, and part pla
---------

Isn't the reason that mancini doesn't like him is that johnson doesn't work hard on the fitness side of his game? Which would explain why he only lasts 70mins for both city an england. Its well known mancini trains his players to play for 100mins. Why would we want a player who thinks he's too good to train?

Mr E

11 Jul 2011 06:46:02
Am i the only person who thinks Stuart Downing might be a better signing than Mata?
Downing is a winger...while Mata is more of an attacking midfielder and keeps drifting in(kinda like Babel used to)....
Downing will stick to the wings and deliver quality crosses...something we have lacked for a long long time..

I'm looking at the pfa websites list of possible free transfers and on the side of every single one was a button that said on it Make enquiry

Let's end the people complaining.

By our first premiership game and this season we will have a team I couldn't of dreamt about this time last year.

Our biggest signing last summer was Joe Cole. Pathetic all season past it. There is normally a reason why a player isn't offered a new contract when theirs is up. Because they are crap (jovanavic anyone?) Another example of what was to lie ahead of us for the first 5 months. Hodgson the manager. Players deflated not permitted moves which in my opinion they had a rite to take considering the lies given to them by Hicks and Gillet.

Perhaps the standout signing would be merieles. Good yes as good as some fans think? No I remember his first derby game and by him being pushed off the park. He has. Vision and skill but did truly lack physicality something that is huge in the premiership. I love the guy he scored important goals but not quite anything special. I would love to see him here for a second season. But with the amount of midfielders we have that can do better than him in that position I find it difficult to see him staying if a profitable offer comes for him considering his age and also his wages.

Still atleast he isn't poulsen or konchesky who I can actually say nothing apart from thank god for Luis suarez.

Torres wanted to leave when benitez left. He couldn't. He didn't believe in what we can be and he left. Oh well. Thanks for the 50 million. I would rather have someone who is a team player he showed he was childish in the pitch when things weren't going his way and that obviously carries over to what he is like off the field.

Anyway compare the signings from the last summer and last January to this January and this summer.

Signings are coming. Just be thankful we have people that are actually buying proven talent that are young and will help us be successful on the pitch and financially we as a club can understand how important that is after almost going bankrupt.

We have immense talent in our youth system. I heard a quote that Pep. Guardiola said that liverpool is second best to barca for youth development. Look how that works for them. Surely we mustn't be far off with the talent that is stepping up. Kelly was outstanding he is brilliant and will be getting moved to a more central position next season. Probably playing besides Carragher training to become his replacement. Flannagan will be back up for Johnson who's entering the peek of his career as a defender learns to read the game better then they become a better player.

Sterling we are all excited about. The kids needs to stay grounded. If he does that I see no reason why he won't play is first team games probably the league cup. But proving himself there could see him feature more.

Our academy is proving its worth. We are no longer buying over paid over rated crap. Check the stats for the players we are linked to and the ones we have bought you will find that compared to the batch of players we bought last year well they make a lot more sense.

AH Yes, sense. A word that seems to be at a loss for most this summer.

I will welcome anyone who liverpool buy this summer with open arms and will not feign at anyone leaving. Why? Because I trust whoever made the decision in January that was the best for this club. Without suarez where would we be. Andy Carroll will be getting the support of his life next season but he has shown that he is not useless outside the box either.

I am excited and we still have more players coming in. Atleast we aren't getting worse. If you are being ungrateful then you're not a fan that understands liverpool. We have been to hell and back this past year and as the great song says at the end of the storm there is a golden sky. Embrace what we are being given. Whining isn't attractive when you are 6 years old so why would you still be doing it.

Wall of text had to just put that out there I am starved off football.

To all Liverpool fans YNWA.

I. M. H

Julio Andr s Arca (born 31 January 1981 in Quilmes) is an Argentine footballer, currently a free agent after his contract expired with Middlesbrough. Arca is also a former Argentina Under-20 captain. He is a left back or midfield enforcer. An attack minded player, his key attributes are dribbling and hard work.

I would get him in as a Lbk. He is quality, always liked him as a player

i think some of these lfc fans on here need to be realistic, they are talking about ohh why dont we buy world class players like aguero, di maria, higuain and so on, , , well simple cos these players want europe, big wages to big for us, and we dont have europe, adam henderson and few more of our target players like downing, bastos, mata, dann, cissokho, sissoko, enrique and even nzogbia would be good enough with the squad we have to fight for top 4 spot, stop whining about who we buy and how much we spend untill the end of the season if they have either proved you right or if they prove you wrong then come on and say you was wrong about them let kenny and his staff do their jobs and see how things pan out.....

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Although i agree to an extent, i have to say that we should all not be so quick to underestimate our club, we can afford these high wages, but we don't want the headaches that come with it basically. The main reason behind us signing Downing over the likes of Aguero is simply because Downing will add more to our team than Aguero would, i'm not comparing them, and am not denying Kuns talent, but football is not always about being flashy. Same goes for Adam, now i have seen a lot of Adam, Gago and Banega over the years(Gago less-so), and i can honestly say that over the last year or so Charlie has shown more potential than EB and FG combined, i can also make the argument for Andy Carroll, yes he was expensive, and yes he has alot to learn, but so does Higuain, and Carroll will - someday soon - be a better player than Higuain, who is a poacher at best.
In summary; we are signing the players we need, not the players the fans want to froth over on youtube, the pricetag(and wages) isn't everything... wait and see.

El fuego hermoso.

Hi ED,
A realistic question here.
Do you see any chance of getting any other winger(2nd winger) barring Downing. Anynews on Dann and Enrique?

Brilliant site, keep it up.
Vamos {Ed002's Note - I don't see an additional winger as a priority but you never know. There is no other news at the moment.}

"After united paid rooney 250k the whole united team didn't start demanding the same. Neither did the madrid squad when they paid ronaldo."

I seem to remember Patrice Evra having a bit of a sad and getting a new contract... All their other "Big Guns" are too old to be in the position of power Rooney was (Giggs, Scoles, VDS, Ferdinand & Park), Players like Nani, Berbatov and Vidic have been linked with moves away constantly... wonder what will happen there? Either they will leave, or they'll get beefed up contracts I'm sure that players like De Gea know what Rooney is on and make wage damands accordingly...

Finally, with Meralies looking to be on the outer, can any of the eds shed light on the story that he has refused to negotiate a new contract? I thought that this was the driving force behind the transfer, and not nessacarily KD/DC wanting rid of him...

David Beckham would be a great face for the LFC brand. He has world wide recognition. He is Mr English Football.

I wonder if he would be willing to come to Liverpool in the in some kind of deal. (age 36) I know he has great contract with LA Galaxy, great weather in america, famous friends ect. But in his off seasons. He still needs to be playing football and getting his face out in UK

2009 → Milan (loan) 18 (2)
2010 → Milan (loan) 11 (0)
2011 → Trained with Tottenham

Why not strike a deal for Beckham to train and play a few game in December when americans take a break. Liverpool would take a fortune in shirt sales

how much is Leighton Baines worth? we paid 18million for Glen Johson, so Leighton Baines should be valued at 28million. As i see it, Everton really need players. They would love to have Paul Konchesky, I would give them pick of our rejects eg Cole Joe, Milan, N Gog

hi ed, what is the chance of us getting bastos and mata or are we just going for one or is it likely were going to get neither?
please reply {Ed002's Note - Bastos wants to go to Juve so the chance is reducing. Mata is not of interest as far as I can tell at present. Downing is the main target.}

it saddens me... just think that there are better out their even if it is crossing dalglish is looking for. but, i do understand that he will improve the sqaud as he is better than any other option we have on the left, but i still don't think that makes him a good buy.

Is John Carew still a free agent? Would be a good choice as a back up striker, with premiership experience and playing similarly to Carroll, especially with Carroll's questionable fitness. Any chance Ed's? {Ed001's Note - he has not been a good player in a long time, his attitude stinks and his fitness is not good either.}

Ed i don't understand Fowler's explanantion for moving to Thailand. He's moving from Austraila to Thailand for "family reasons"? Do you understand it mate? I don't get it, thanks.

Downing and Adam will reach a higher level, i think Downing already has actually. A perfect example of this is Diego Forlan, wasn't great when in england and wasn't the good when he went home, but over the last 18 months to 2 years he has proven to be one of the form players on the planet, for some reason people think that once a players reaches 20 years old then he has peaked. But some players don't peak until they're 30, some when they're 23/24 like Suarez and some at 25/26/27(downing and adam), Marcos Senna peaked well into his years and Santi Cazorla is only just coming of age now, so my point is, just because we're signing the likes of Adam and Downing, they still have enough time to prove themselves, and obviously Kenny and Co. can see improvement in them. So at least give them a chance to prove their potential, if they fail, well say what you want, but until then, zip it because you'll only look the person when these players are a hit.

To build a stadium 16,000 seats bigger than what we already have with 40,000 on the waiting list just screams of a moving plans away from Stanley Park. Apparently the plans in Stanley Park only lend themselves to 60,000 because of police and traffic in that location Then think bigger and look elsewhere. There is a number of locations lets aim higher and prove we are indeed the biggest club in the land.

so has all the Vargas talk died down because people have heard the Bastos Rumours now?, because i'd take Vargas ANY DAY Bastos is a good player, but Vargas is better.

I can't see any reason the downing deal will take more than one week to complete unless Villa think they can squeeze more money out of us.

These are fantastic signings for us we are going to be competing for the title. If not champions leagur. Arsenal will crumble this season and wenger will be out the door.

I know it's all about business now rah rah rah... but am i the only person concerned with the new stadium idea, yes it would add revenue and that would buy star players and so on, but is it worth selling the clubs soul for star players and trophies. Before people go off on one, yes i know the commercial appeal of a new stadium, and i know the economics of football are important. But i would be very disappointed and hurt if we left our home, i for one will support this team if we wind up in the blue square premier some day(unlike some people), and i would gladly sacrifice the option of a few new faces around the club, and to be honest if players are only coming because we're prepared to pay higher wages then i don't want them. I'd rather see us stay at anfield, win a few trophies the old fashioned way, through hard work not hard cash, and make money off trophies, not selling our soul to the corporate devil. {Ed001's Note - we will only build a new stadium if we can't upgrade Anfield.}

Hey Ed(s) hope all's well. It seems a lot of our targets seem to also be linked to the likes of Juve and other Serie A clubs, leading me to ask why you think so many would prefer Serie A than LFC and the EPL. Also, what do ya reckon it'd cost to get Baines of EFC? He's the best LB other than Evra and Cole to me (EPL), and his delivery is better than than the other two, which obviously aids a forward such as Carroll. With regards to INS I'd be happy wih Downing, Dann, good LB (Baines/Cissokho), Mata/Turan, and maybe another, young, striker to replace the soon departing Ngog and Jovanovic. I know it's a wish list, but still achievable. Thoughts? {Ed001's Note - money is the main reason they choose Serie A, Juve pay higher wages than we do and offer incentives that we can't match. I doubt that we could persuade Everton to sell Baines for any amount of money, City couldn't even with the offer of fringe players as well as cash.}

Just want to remind everyone that last summer our most talked about signing was a winger who hadn't been in the England team for months and was out of favour at his club, who we signed on a free. Now people are complaining about us being linked to a current England winger who was his club's player of the season last term, for 20 million pounds. How times change, eh?
