Carroll with go out on loan to score goals and hopefully boost his market value for sale in jan/next summer, Rodgers knows he won't fit into his system, much like Imbrahimovich failed to impress for Barca. The high possession driven style is not suited for such target men. An agile forward is required to optimise fluidity to bring unpredictability & varied penatrative attacks.

11 Jul 2012 22:50:26
Suarez just uploaded a pic with Cavani.....that must mean Cavani is the signing rodgers was talking about :o

Before you all get on my back, I'm being sarcastic. However there are many posters that still chat bubbles of players of his price tag, wages etc.

Hi eds, I dont see why we are interested in Allen if we are looking to get back near the top surely we need world class players, Dempsey would be a great signing and the rumours on demba ba have evaporated what's the latest about him? Cheers, redlad33
ynwa

I really rate Joe Allen, he's also only 21, i think he's got a great future.
If he was spanish you'd probably rave about him.

Ah stop would ya done to death that question

In 5 years Dempsey will be close to retirement or have the pace of a turtle while Joe allen could potentially be a 20-30 mil player. go watch him play before saying he can't get us back into top 4 because he would be awesome with Lucas and Stevie.
Et

Allen is a great young player and Dempsey is too old.

Dempsy maybe old but he's still banging goals in every season that's what we need! Him & allen would be great signing in my veiw

11 Jul 2012 22:45:51
hi eds not so much a rumor or banter, but just thinking what your thoughts are on this......suarez if hopefully he stays (taking into consideration his 8 game ban) has played in the copa america last summer and in the olympics this summer is there a danger he may be worn out for next season. he is a machine and nothing phases him but its just a thought.

11 Jul 2012 22:45:47

11 Jul 2012 22:26:51
Just read a post re: Adam Morgan going on the tour, is he? Obviously bar coady, suso and Robinson which other kids will be going out with the first teamers? I rate Morgan highly and would love to see him get a few cup games under his belt.
FowlerisGod

He has all the right parts to his game but will take a season on loan to pull him up to prem level

11 Jul 2012 22:24:38
if carroll is sold then personally i'll be right pissed off, just as the lad is starting to show a bit of form and the player he could turn out to be we as a club decide to turn our backs on the last 18 months and sell him to a club where he'll no doubt hit the floor running and prove what a big mistake we've made,i know people will say we haven't even sold him yet but i'm sorry but there's too many rumours going around and BR hardly reassured us on monday, also people need to remeber look how crap drogba was in his first season,i just hope BR gives AC a chance and he'll show what a beast he can be and his work rate for the team is second to none.

Another hat-trick for Luis. If Andy goes surely Luis is staying?

You would think so...

but in a world where Carroll could be sold and Spearing could be staying...anything is possible!

Hi Eds & Reds,

I was just wondering Eds about Rodolfo Borrell, he has been fantastic in his role as youth team manager, do you think the club might make him Director of Youth Development or something similiar and let someone else take over as youth team manager.
We are starting to see the fruits of his labour as youth team manager, I think it would be great idea to put him in charge of overall youth development, given FSG want to develop young talent through the ranks as per say.

I know there was some talk about it a couple of months ago, I was just wondering do you know if there has been or is there any future plans for Rodolfo's role at the club.

Many thanks in advance Eds,

R_R

The first team coach role is vacant still and I think a wise move would be to put Rodolfo in that role and Pep Segura taking over Rodolfos current position.

11 Jul 2012 22:14:53
Hi eds do you see Dempsey being involved in any deal to do with Carroll? It looks like Liverpool are touting Carroll to other clubs.

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - No.}

The journalists are touting Carroll to other clubs, not Liverpool.

11 Jul 2012 22:05:46
Any news on Rondon?

11 Jul 2012 21:59:42
Is BR prioritising young British talent and players he knows well and who will adapt to his style? I say this because Ramirez talk is dying down and I've been told by a journo that Dempseys a back up for a right-sided or central attacker and BR is very keen on Sturridge he says. Four in and out if they can swing the deals then could be....

Daniel Sturridge 14m
Fabio Borini. 10m
Joe Allen. 9m
Michael Mancienne. 3m

Out...

Alberto Aquilani. 4-5m
Maxi Rodriguez. Free
Doni. Free
Craig Bellamy. Free

With Aurelio and Kuyt gone the wage bill is looking healthier and although the names above will underwhelm some I can actually see some sense in that BR will back himself to get the best out of talented younger players who aren't yet seen as "stars".

PieInTheSkyMan

Funny how everyone disagreed but then Macca backed up most of this. I still say Dempsey deal not done because Fulham want too much and in the VfM stakes Sturridge would be better. I'll bet all four outs happen and Mancienne is a definite runner for left-back/ defensive cover.

I think out of the two returning loanees aquilani will fit perfectly into a Rodgers pass and move team. If his attitude is right i think he could be a gem. I for one would quite like to see him get a chance, Lucas, Gerrard and Aquilani could make a really classy midfield 3. What do you reckon.

Andy the Red

I think you've hit the nail on the head there buddy, very classy midfield. If Rodgers can convince Aquilani to stay I think the team will be better for it. iv long been an admirer of his, he's great on the ball and his passing is top notch. Some of the Europa games where him and Gerrard played together the team had a real fluidity going forward. He was not really given a chance under previous managers so hopefully hell stay and prove he's a quality player.

Just been told that LFC will sign hunterlaar, £18 million. The bloke who told me is a Man Utd fan is usually right when giving info. He has previously given me info on sigurdsson, carroll and mereiles before anyone else.

Eds what do you think ?

Would be a wonderful player to have, but I dont think we will get him :(

Didnt he an saurez play together at ajax?this could have legs deano mcc

Good point deano, hadn't thought of that! Would be great if he did

Borini in over the next couple of days with Carroll leaving the club if a decent offer is made. Brendan Rodgers is a big fan of his specific style of play which Carroll simply won't fit in too. Raheem Sterling to appear much more in the first team next season after he is bulking up over the summer. He will be used on the left side of an attacking three which will include Borini and Suarez.

Let me guess you just read the sterling interview on the official site

Hey, Twitter isn't always reliable but a couple of sources in the past hour have tweeted the following

Transfer Clockwatch ‏@TransferClock
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has been rumoured to be moving to Liverpool for £18 million Stay with us for more! #LFC

Football Source ‏@source_football
@jwswam Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to Liverpool £18 million. You heard it here first! ‪#LFC‬ ‪#Liverpool‬ ‪#YNWA‬

Personally can't see this, he'd be more then that for one after last season, just wanted to hear your opinion. For me Ramirez, sturridge, allen, and de jong with stirling, kelly, coates getting more game time would be a quality young squad.

11 Jul 2012 21:23:06
Hey Eds

so with the likes of Tony Barrett coming out and stating that Liverpool will sell Andy Carroll do you believe his likely destination would be AC Milan considering it is rumoured that PSG are about to purchase Ibra.
Finally, yes the tika - taka way of playing is great especially when Barca are in full flow. But Barca had a pretty poor season by their standards (Copa Del Rey and World Club Championship isnt bad but they always want to win the league)
I think keeping Andy would be massive as he can mix things up when we cant break down teams. I have a funny feeling that with tika taka, we will have an awful lot of draws this year.

Red Molloy

"an awful lot of draws this year"......Really!? Surely we cant draw more than last year..Can we?

Tika-Taka is a load of bull and I wish people would stop talking about it. Rodgers has not once mentioned this, he's hopes to employ a pass and move system with " Relentless attacking football" . From the horses mouth..........Give me strength.

R@

Gaurdiola had no motivation anymore he said it at the start of the season more or less.

11 Jul 2012 21:29:51
I posted something similar to this earlier only as a response to a post destroying Borini..
I'm going to reiterate the point though as i believe its very important.

In a football team, you need match winners. If you have to many, it can cause ego problems and it will cause an issue with regards to wages.

Surrounding these match winners, you need workers, that fit into the system and that either compliment your match winners, or can be complimented BY your match winners.

At the club we have 4-5 world class players I would say can regularly turn out match winning performances; Suarez, Gerrard, Lucas, Agger and Reina.
The is not to say the likes of Johnson, Enrique, Carroll and Skrtel don't sometimes prove to be the decisive players, but if they do, its usually a rarity.

The most importnat thing of all however is to have a team of players that fit into the system the manager plays with.

The key is to find a balance of match winners and players who just fit the system (as Manchester City found out). Simply buying the best individuals doesn't work. City sometimes bought the second best option, because X works better with Y than Z does.

Now as i have said, we have a good amount of match winners. It would be nice to add a winger to these match winners in order to give us a decisive option in every position on the field (Goal, defence, midfield, strikers and wingers). If we do sign someone exciting, believe me it will be a winger. Does Rodgers sound thick?

HOWEVER, players like Borini and Dempsey (who may have been match winners for Swansea and Fulham) aren't going to come in and immediately be our stand out performers. They will be cogs in Rodgers well oiled machine.

This doesn't make them any less important than the match winners, but it just means you aren't likely to see there names on the back of many shirts!

I think earlier I used a jigsaw analogy.. So sorry for the repeat, as i'm no philosopher!

In a jigsaw you have different pieces. The bright colourful ones that catch the eye, the back ground ones that make up the numbers, and the corner pieces to hold the rest together.
*Rodgers, Ayre and other senior members of staff represent the corner pieces.
*Gerrard, Suarez and the other fans favourites represent the attractive pieces.
*Players like Enrique, Borini and other members of the team represent the background pieces.

These background pieces suppport the colourful pieces and make them stand out.
If any one piece is missing, the whole jigsaw is flawed.
So when you call for Rodgers head because it's Borini, not Cavani, just think, would Cavani compliment our current squad, and would he even fit Rodgers system.
A perfect example is the D.Cisse, D.Ba situation.
Would you all be happy if Cavani came in, and scored 20 goals a year, but because Suarez was pushed out of his place, he scored none? (ala Ba)

In Rodgers we trust.

Just remember, System, Squad, Stars! The 3 important S's in Football!

YNWA! (Adam)

Well said my friend could not have put it better myself!!!!!!!!

You started well but it got worse as it went on. Leaving most of the rubbish out, yes, we don't need stars in every position, especially with the system BR deploys.

Problem is with jigsaws - you're nearly finished and theres always a piece or two missing

cozinoz

Great post Adam wish more of our fans thought lile this ...

I think 'world class' is so over-used. In my opinion if you aren't in the top 2 or 3 in your position you aren't world class

"Well said my friend could not have put it better myself!!!!"

Obviously!!!!

{Ed002's Note - Just to be clear - Liverpool do not benefit from this deal.}

______-

Is it part of the existing warrior sponsorship deal:?
There must be some benefit in kind from promoting LFC surely??
or am i being niave

Jim22

{Ed002's Note - This is how Warrior make their investment in Liverpool back.}

ED002? Surely having Liverpool shirts all over Thailand can not be a bad thing for the club. We may not make money on it directly but its still good for the prestige of the club globally. Also Ian Ayre does not get enough credit for the deal he struck with Warrior.
Under the addidas deal they were entitled to a percentage of all merchandising at the club, so if we sold a tea mug in the club shop then Adidas would profit from it.
The warrior deal is based solely on the shirt.... So Liverpool gain extra revenue from all other merchandise that Addidas would otherwise have taken under the old deal. Is that Right Ed'? I think thats right....... Love you guys
jonnybarnes89-90 {Ed002's Note - Nobody is suggesting it is a bad thing for the club at all. You have misunderstood the Warrior deal in relation to Adidas. The growth area is Liverpool branded goods that are not part of the Warrior kit deal - and Liverpool have already started marketing in the Far East although my understanding is that the real potential is probably a year or so away and relates to on line downloads etc.. I don't know too much about it but I am aware they will need to work IPR issues etc.. In terms of the response to the point of teh original post, it was simply to point out that these deals do not see Liverpool benefit from shirt sales. As a refresh for anyone interested:

The money from shirt sales goes to the manufacturer, the distributor and the retailer, who can make extra adding numbers and names to the shirts. If the club are the retailer (club shop, club website etc.) then they get the retailers cut. The manufacturer (Adidas, Warrior, Nike etc.) pay the club an amount each year which allows them to manufacture and sell the shirts using the correct logos etc.. That is how they justify the money given to the club. So if you walk in to a high street store and buy a Liverpool or Arsenal shirt - nothing goes to the club. There are a few clubs that have negotiated different deals with manufacturers (Real Madrid with Adidas and Barcelona with Nike are the two obvious examples) based upon joint reselling ventures. So the income from shirts is fixed to the £xM or whatever Adidas, Nike etc. pay the club plus a small amount for reselling through the club retail outlets (shop, web).}

Not a rumour just a comment on some recent opinions on joe Allen, just a little surprised at the negative comments, thought he (& Leon Britten) were outstanding last season & has similar qualities to Lucas would personally love to see a future midfield 3 or 4 containing Lucas joe Allen James mc carthy/Jordan henderson.keep up the good work y.n.w.a Shankley'sleft leg

11 Jul 2012 21:18:26
Ed...the way I see it. Selling Carroll for around 18 million sterling would make sense if (a) we bring in Borini and Dempsey and (b) we bring in a pacey winger like Ramirez. Borini is only a matter of time...Dempsey seems likely but Ramirez who knows? In any case, Carroll doesn't fit in BR's type of play and let's face it you can't imagine Carroll playing with either Barcelona or Real Madrid. He's just not the type of player that has either the passing ability or technique required. Surely, BR must have a pacy winger lined up for his 4 3 3 formation. Downing has been a disappointment and I wouldn't be surprised if BR puts him on the market along with Adam.

What BR may prove is that Damien Comolli messed up big time and what is needed is players to fit a system and not the other way round or worse buying players in a vacuum ie ignoring the system the manager thinks is best.

That's why I believe BR is so different to KK. KK relied on Comolli and the players just couldn't fit. It wasn't their fault. The management bought the wrong set of players and they just couldn't fit into any system devised by KK.

Ed...what's you take on the difference between BR and KK in terms of buying players? Tks

11 Jul 2012 21:17:26
Brendan Rodgers is sorting the under performers out at the moment. Carroll will go out on loan, or sold if a good offer comes in. Adam will be sold. Can't see a future for Downing so he may be gone. Henderson will have a year to prove himself.

If Henderson has a year to prove himself then so should Carroll.

Lewis the Red.

The agent of Aquilani said that he will be playing for liverpool next season. BUT that could well change if an other does come in that matches our evaluation of Aqua which i think is £6m

I feel that along with lucas and gerrard BR see Aquilani as someone who can do that same job any that any other CM coming in could do with slightly better vision "i mean look at his wife!!".

it makes sense because that's money saved or to be added to put some extra weight behind other bids that we do have and fall short on, at least for another year.

I think Carroll, Henderson and Downing will stay and Adam will go to maybe Aston Villa.

I really don't get the Adam bashing on here. Charlie is a good player that played good alongside Lucas. Lucas got injured and Charlie was asked to play in a role and position that didn't suit him and didn't play great. He will fit in with BR's style of play. He has every pass in the book.

Eds have we pulled out of deal for Dempey the Metro says we have and other sources ie The Mirror and Daily Mail say nothing??????

According to Jerzy Brzeczek, Kuba Blaszczykowski's agent, Inter, Lazio, Liverpool asked about the player. So far, Kuba hasnt signed new deal with Borussia. His current deal will expire next year. Dortmund is the first club to be spoken to about player's future

11 Jul 2012 20:41:57
I don't understand all this sadness at the rumoured departure of andy carroll. So far' it is just a rumour. If he did leave, would it be such a disaster. He was bought to score goals. I believe he has scored seven or eight goals in about 49 games. Is this how low we have sunk, to be sad about eight goals max in one and a half seasons. He's hardly a rush or fowler is he.More like a voronin. It's right to say that the transfer price is not his fault. Some say he has great potential, but potential has to be realised. how long should we wait until he starts scoring on a regular basis. Another season and a half for another eight goals. or cash in now and try something different with a more prolific goal scorer who can offer us more options than being quite tall.

Your saying it ain't worth waiting till january to see if he can keep ripping defences apart like then end of last season?

Give Carroll a chance, he may or may not fit in to BR's system, but give him a chance too, he showed a lot of improvement to the end of last season, he is young and could adapt. BR's system IS NOT GOING TO WORK OVERNIGHT, It will take years unless we buy players of the Messi standard which is not going to happen. If we adopt BR's system straight away it could end up in disaster because we don't have and won't have the calibre of players to make an instant success. The pass and move system is flawed if you don't have technically gifted players like Barcelona, even they came unstuck against Chelsea. In the Premiership one system will not bring the title you need to mix it a bit when you have to.

Bobbinred

Carroll really began to fit in at the end of last season and was solid in the euros...neutral commentators have labelled him unplayable when he's playing well...and many on here have stated that his passing and mobility are good...he is only 23 which means he is NOWHERE near his peak...if he is sold without Rodgers giving him a chance it would be a huge mistake...ask any defender - would they rather play with or against Carroll and I would be surprised if any said against...

General interest excuse cut and paste, but this is the meat in the article:

CRC Sports, Thailand's leading sports retailer under Central Retail Corporation, yesterday announced it had won an exclusive agreement with Warrior Sports for the distribution rights of Liverpool Football Club's home and away jerseys and other related products for the Thai market.

The company also unveiled brand-new Liverpool jerseys for the forthcoming 2012-13 Barclays Premier League season. More than 5,000 Liverpool FC jerseys have been imported into Thailand for the first shipment, to be retailed for Bt2,590 each.

By owning the distribution right for Liverpool FC jerseys and related products in Thailand, we are able to cash in on the great potential of more than 15 million Liverpool fans domestically. We aim at achieving Bt50 million in sales of Liverpool FC products by the end of this year," he added.

The company is confident in the potential of Warrior Sports and the Liverpool FC, which was founded in 1892 and is one of the world's most famous and prosperous football clubs.

Jim22
{Ed002's Note - Just to be clear - Liverpool do not benefit from this deal.}

Not immediately Ed, but a few million more fans will be great in the long run :) the bigger the fan base, the more sponsorship[ we rake in! Forgive me if i'm wrong, but the size of your fan base (worlwide) has an indirect affect on your finances. Only the size of your local fan bise could potentially affect it directly:
-filling bigger stadiums
-selling more merchandise from the official store etc.

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed002's Note - Warrior are doing it for the money.}

Could this not expand our brand, this meaning we will be more well known around the world. this could mean we could sell more products in the future

Hi Eds, I heard from a good source on sly twitter that Iron Man from the avengers will be signed next week. He can fly, shoot, and has nerves of steel. What do you think?

We have pulled out of negotiations witj fulham for Dempsey. They wont budge on their 10m asking price, and we value him at 6m although we are willing to increase our offer to 8m if Fulham accept a bonuses-related package.

Really wish Aquaman would just shut up and f**k off back to Italy. The man is a joke. Lies lies lies to keep the fans on his side before he gets his annual loan move back to Italy. I used to like the guy, I wanted him to stay but now it's just a joke, he doesnt want to be at Liverpool so we shouldn't have him, forget the talk of him staying and how good of a fit he'll be, I got sucked in last year, I refuse to get sucked into it again.....

LfcWes605

He is not staying, its just his agent has a disease called davewhelanitis.

If i could agree more than once i would , if he needs a lift i will personally drive him out of liverpool!!

Transfer him to a club outside Italy for free...and make an agreement to the club that should they sell him to an Italian club, we will receive 90 percent of the transfer fee

11 Jul 2012 20:30:07
We should all just calm down with the Carroll leaving talk. BR has just outlined a challenge to everyone in squad. He prides himself in making players better. I'm sure he will do the same for AC if AC wants to stay. Believe.

You can coach defenders and midfielders but you can't coach forwards to score goals and to have great movement.
It's a fact if you play up front you've ether got it or you havn't, that's why clubs pay millions for top class forwards.
Otherwise they'd just coach their own players to score goals!
Andy Carroll is good player trying to play at a level above his capabities, so yes we need to sell him and move on.

Evening Liverpool fans, I am from glasgow and a season ticket holder at Celtic although I have always followed Liverpool and I suppose you could say they are my second team, Anyway the papers heer in scotland today seem convinced that Liverpool are looking to sign Ki Sueng Yueng (spelling) just wondered is this just paper talk or have you heard anything on this? Also was at soceraid a month or so ago now as a family member was playing in the game and at the afterparty I was advised by one of the guys that works closely with the players at fulham that liverpool seemed clint dempseys most likely desitination not sure how much he really knows but as he also said dembele will go to chelsea which doesent seem likely in my opinion just thought was worth a mention since I saw on sky that Liverpool was apparentlly interested

Cheers guys

Thank god martin and Daniel are staying ,just read the LFC website and rogers has said that the 2 are ready for the new season and getting down to business . most probably the best bit of news for a Liverpool fan all day!

The style Of play wasn't the main problem it was the fact that we were unable to finish our chances we never had any problems creating them hence the reason were in for a poacher!

I tried to post earlier but got nowhere but maybe this is worth a post my step dad is a taxi driver in south liverpool and he told me that fernando torres' girlfriend has moved back into the woolton home (he picked her up last night) might be nothing at all what do you think guys {Ed002's Note - That'll PO his wife.}

Fernando torres chelsea's number nine, cfcblueboy.

It was John Terry who picked Fernandos wife up, she didnt care.

....Macca with his infantile assessments! I respect you for you insider knowledge, not 4 for how well you bend over to LFC propaganda machine. Not everyone is mentally handicqpped as you suggest, I for one saw Borini play enough tImes to form a judgment. Stop glossing over the fact thar our club can't attract even haklf-desceny players,

What are haklf-desceny players? When you write as bad as this nobody will take you serious or value your opinion.

Stop being jealous of Macca, it's embarrassing.

It amazes me that all these fans are repeatedly saying that FSG will not be spending money. But they all quite simply believe that Andy Carroll will be allowed to be sold for 15M and lose out on 20M. This guy has more balls than alot of people. He is on relativley low wages in the grand scheme of things. And shown more effort in the last 3rd of the season than anyone else. He has listen to all the b~~~~ks from the fans and media and now has shown his true potential. If he leaves i for one hope he goes on to be a great great player and obviously the same if he stays. I think he will be massive for country and club wherever he is. Good Luck Big Man! In FSG i trust! In Rodgers i trust! In Andy Carroll i trust!

Ernie0071

Well, if the 'Big Man' remains our primary target up front, hope you are ready for another mid-table finish.

If Rodgers wants to stay in his job? Think he's already worked out? Best not to rely on Andy Carroll for goals.
kidmillions

"on relativley low wages in the grand scheme of things" I'd be well pissed off on 80k a week....

Blaming Carroll for our mid-table finish...

I guess he was the only one who missed our million shots on goal...

and I guess he's the one who chose to use the Downing-Hendo-Shelvey-Spearing midfield...the worst midfield in the premier league last season...

if our players are healthy and Rodgers have them playing well and we have our fair share of luck, we would have to purposely lose games to finish mid-table

Hi eds and fellow supporters,
With all this talk surrounding midfielders coming into the squad, surely rogers should give suso an opportunity. He would fit right into the style of pay he wants to create.

Eds av just been lookin on YouTube to see wot borini is all about an there is a woman saying borini is nothing but a rumour don't know if any 1 else has put this just passing info on craigdisco tech lfc

Borini is a done deal.Fingers crossed he is as exciting as BR thinks he is. He wont get as much space in the EPL as he does on the videos but he knows where the net is.
CR

I can confirm Borini is not a rumour but is in fact a real person.

I saw this too it was from a day or two ago. the same lady wrote a article in the mirror today about what Liverpool fans could expect from him if he signs hope this clears it up

She said if did he would be well more then 8 mil

Rafa Rafael Rafa Rafael Rafa Rafael Rafael Benitez....What could have been? Would Rafa have been interested with Borini, Dempsey or Allen? Who knows...Mr Rodgers you have my blessing but there is only one man that deserves the throne!! Miami_Red

Can we not move on without these rediculous annoying post about Rafa? He tried, he failed, he's gone, get over it!!!

MR EM

Miami i normally like reading your posts but this 1 was just pointless it didnt happen get over it and move on

The same that brought us Aquilani & we're still paying for it 3 seasons later.....Think about that when you're sat "on the throne"..........Move on!

Leyland Wool

Rafas buys from serie A were brilliant where they?

MIKEY

If we have a small budget and had Rafa been our manager, he'd could have had players like Voronin, Degen, Ngog, Babel, Dossena as targets....You never know....

Red PG

Will you just get over Rafa please. He's not our manager anymore. Start living in todays world not yesterdays and give BR your 100% support. And for the good player he brought in he brought some right donkeys to.
Warr68

Rafa certainly had his good points.
However, time to move on. If you have any lingering sentimentality, try closing your eyes and imagine Real Madrid touting Gareth Barry as a replacement for Alonso...(and then ending up with Aquilani) I think it might stretch the 'special ones' credibility somewhat...

BigBadBen

I agree one man deserves the throne - and the only throne Benitez deserves is the one in the smallest room in his £5million mansion in Caldy - the sooner he moves back to Spain and people take him off the pedestal for turning us into the worst LFC team to watch since 1959 under Phil Taylor.

He aslo signed Nado and Alonso and Mascherano to name just a few. Agger Skertal and so on.

Out of the 70+ players he bought for £230m how many can you actually remember? Also had you heard of Josemi, Alonso, Nunez and Garcia who were the first four. Some worked out and some moved on. Thats football.
Geez

Rafa sold Xabi and bought Aquilani - sackable offence!

Rodgers sells Carroll - sackable offence?

11 Jul 2012 19:30:21
Aquilani's agent has stated that Aquilani will be a part of Liverpool's season this coming term! :D

Rafa was a great manager then he went wappy he had to go the dross he did in the last 12 months makes him a never man we still suffering aqua..

Beware LFC if dealing with Madrid,or even Milan. Both, particularily former have screwed us several times, and several times over before

Who did Madrid screw us over with? Arbeloa, alonso, I don't think so or do u mean mcmanaman or Owen. It's neither Madrid or the latter players fault we can't attract the top free agents..

Madrid screwed us over by 'selling' one of their cleaners to us while informing us he was a right winger.

11 Jul 2012 19:23:37
I congratulate Rodgers thinking on team ethos and it 'not' being about individuals. However we need top quality in key areas, indeed coupled with that team ethic. And though those players weve been linked with, may do a job.Are they of the standard required to turn tight games at the top level.Im prepared to give them a chance, but suspect their not of the standard that will change too much.Sincerely hope im wrong

11 Jul 2012 19:21:11
Liverpool are hoping to pull off the £7 million signing of Real Madrid forward Jose Callejon in the next few days, according to the Daily Star.

Chances of this on a scale of 1 to 10.......-5

11 Jul 2012 19:16:28
People who are slating Borini need to step back and show some respect... just remember how very few knew of Hernandez before he joined the Mancs a few years back, many also slated him as he cost them £7m but within one season he scored over 20 goals and is now one of the greatest striking prospects in the league!
Borini could be our Hernandez and considering he speaks English and has played in England before with Rodgers he should settle very quickly and hopefully score plenty of goals - should he join.
YNWA
Chris

Strange how people always quote the successful players to make a point, but never list the ones that didn't make the grade, for every Hernandez there is a Bebe, just ask Fergie.

Did they not sign him after a good world cup with mexico and im thinking the whole world took notice of him

No, utd signed him just before the world cup

They signed him before the world cup which made more people watch him.

Apologies in advance, I know twitter is frowned upon but if you look at @lfcboston, they've just uploaded the thing about henry and his mrs telling some fans about borini. There's a picture of them with henry also

Hi Ed i have heard lfc made 15m bid for suasete. Hw much truth in it. AND How much it will take to confirm borini signing. WHat are the chances of RAMIREZ and ALLEN will sign for us. {Ed002's Note - The search function not working?}

11 Jul 2012 19:03:10
Aquilani's agent insist he is going to be in the Liverpool 1st team squad next year.

Then again he has lied much so it probably means nothing; personally I would like him to go as he is just a nuisance but if he stays I would trust Rodgers that he might be seeing something that he can utilise.

Ben

Well his passing abilities was there for us all to see when he did play and his italian coaching with letting the ball do the work should fit nicely

It will be the same as last season where we will play him in the preseason friendlies to keep him in the shop window, taking the place of someone who needs the game time, and then he'll bugger off abroad somewhere on loan.

JRG

He says that every year ! personally think him and his client should be booted out the door !!

BR should tell him to do 1, because he's not wanted effed us over enough times, hope someone signs him then cancel's his contract so he has nowhere to go.

11 Jul 2012 19:03:07
If Brendan Rogers starts off his LFC tenure with the release of AC, I will start to fear for LFC. There are at least 4 players who should go before him, Spearing, Downing, Adam, Maxi. If say the system BR wants to play is not working in any particular game, what is going to be plan B? Andy is decent enough on the ground, with a decent first touch, can find players around him as we saw at the end of last season, but also gives us that second option. Unless we are going to go along the Spain route (which would mean getting at least 6 players), then getting rid of AC is a bad step. I for one will be a more than a bit pi**ed. We need this sorted and quick.

I think you need to gather an understanding of BR strategy. The ball will stay on the floor, possession will be key. No long balls etc god help Carra

It might not be up to Brendan, if Aquilani doesn't want to play football in England again at all then due to player power these days he will leave, simple as... I personally hope he stays too, quality player who can play the way we will in the coming years with Rodgers in charge. If he leaves though, don't hate on Rodgers as it will 100% be down to the fact that he wants to return to Italy.

I agree re Carroll. He can be either a Plan A, or a plan B, depending on who we are playing. Some teams can be played through, some need smashing through. I hope that all this talk of loans or a move doesn't mess with his head. He seems to be the sort of player who needs to feel wanted. Considering selling him would undoubtedly lead to a financial loss, it seems like good business to keep him to show his full potential - if for no other reason than to increase his sale value. Hopefully FSG will see this, and keep him on.

Nick

11 Jul 2012 18:58:08
Eds, I went to work today in Gateshead and all they guys are talking about Carroll going on loan to either N'Castle, West Ham or even Sunderland but they were also saying that Andy should be angry with the way BR has treated him? Hoe has he treated him? I know he wants asked a direct question about AC and answered as I assume he would for anyone – he'll have to work hard etc etc. Is this a case of the press not having a story hence fabricating one, or have i missed something?

11 Jul 2012 18:57:43
E.D's do you know if a deal for Joe Allen is likely?

I have always liked the kid who is in his own right a quality player, if not under appreciated.

He is a really good player and would be perfect for us but I know about the gentlemen agreement between Swansea and Liverpool. So what would it take for Allen to join Liverpool?

Most likely signings seem to be Fabio Borini and Clint Dempsey and, while I'm confused about the latter, I think Borini for around the 10 mill mark would be a good bit of business.

But I would really lie to see Joe Allen in a liverpool shirt because he really does belong there

LFC'S MANGO

11 Jul 2012 18:47:09
People shouldn't assume Borini Will be a poor signing I think he would be a great addition to the squad, don't some of you trust Rodgers? I've only watched borini play a few times and he can be a lively intelligent quality finisher. Rodgers has worked with him twice now so I'm sure he knows what he's doing and I'm sure he believes he can work in the Liverpool team, stop copying each other and making yourselves believe he is poor, stop comparing him to FIFA and FM. Dare I say he is young "give him a chance" I trust Brendan Rodgers. Do you guys trust him or not? YNWA

Hye Eds,
Hope u post this.

If we cannot get Joe Allen, is it possible we are going to bid for Celtic Ki Seung Yung? Looks good playmaker for me.
How much his value today?

Would prefer Yung than Allen and that saying sumin i think Allen is very average..

A strong rumours from boston said.LFC have agreed to sign trio borini dempsy and allen.this is 2-3 that rodgers talking about.

Wow great players, we will surely be competing against the big boys with these guys, cant get any better then this. RedTurk

With that lot we should be good enough to keep our 8th spot next season, rodgers will be delighted, that will be his highest ever finish in the prem.

RedTurk mate, and I mean no disrespect, but do you think you may be supporting the wrong team? I can honestly say that I don't think I can remember reading a single positive post from you. Supporting Liverpool seems to make you miserable - it is supposed to do the opposite. I have to say that I actually like to read your posts, cus it cheers me up knowing I'm not as miserable as someone else out there - kind of like the way I sometimes watch Jeremy Kyle, as it makes me realise that my life is actually pretty good compared to some. But really, I think you should do something, maybe see your doctor or something, cus you aren't half miserable.

surely the carroll to newcastle is bull is it eds? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know. If they make an acceptable offer we will see.}

11 Jul 2012 18:41:28
Some news regarding the future of Downing. Liverpool are looking to sell him and there is plenty of interest and clubs willing to meet LFC 10 million valuation but his wages are a real problem. Stoke and QPR are the leading contenders to sign him.

11 Jul 2012 18:36:34
If Rodgers will replace Carroll, then it should be by an 'Exciting striker' like Higuain, Cavani, Lewandowski, Falcao etc.. and not by Borini or Dempsey who in my opinion are not better than Caroll .Your opinion Eds..

S.L

Will you pay the silly wages they would ask for?

KT!

What makes you think that Higuain is on insane wages? he went to real when he was 18-19 I think and in that time probably only had on contract renewal i think we could afford his wages, suarez is getting a pay rise from 80k pw to probably 110-20k pw, so I think higuain would be one about 80-100k pw if he was to come to liverpool. {Ed002's Note - Real Madrid have the second highest average wage in world team sports - 50% higher than that paid across the first team at Liverpool.}

11 Jul 2012 18:34:18
Andy Carroll: "I will be leaving LFC permanently this summer. If the coach wants to loan me out I have no interest in being there."

BBC's Ben Smith is claiming Liverpool are trying to sell Carroll now.

Who is this Ben Smith and how does he seem to have a direct line into the inner workings at Anfield when everyone else can find out nothing?

Stell

Where did that come from, AC will not be leaving LFC any time soon

I'm sure this is an absolute 100% authentic quote. No player in his right mind would ever say such a thing. Not saying he's staying necessarily, but this "quote" is serious BS...

When are people going to realise - when it comes to the truth about football Ben Smith is about as close to David Cameron telling the truth about doing what's right for this country. The man is on Planet SMITH.

Andy Carroll is still on holiday, I'm sure one of his priorities is to tell a BBC journalist his plans before talking to Brendan Rodgers.

I still can't believe people are naive enough to put that sort of rumour on this site.

Get Real - Ben Smith is ITK as much as Tony Evans from the times.

John B

I'm sure Carroll said that. What makes you want to lie like a little school child in the playground?

Since when has a British player referred to the boss or the gaffer as "the coach".

If people like Ben Smith are making up such statements and causing grief, are they able to be sued? {Ed002's Note - No.}

11 Jul 2012 18:33:20
I find it ridiculous that some people on this site over analyze every word our coach, player, or even the Eds and Macca say. BR spoke about an exciting signing. Big deal, it's his first year in charge, I should hope he is excited about all of his new signings. Just because you don't think it's exciting, doesn't mean it's not a good bit of business or that the player won't improve our team. Get over the Cavani's & the Messi's coming here. We can't offer CL football, but that doesn't mean we can't attract quality. If BR signs Borini and Dempsey for a total of around 18mil, (thats whats being reported) then that is still half of what we spent on a 35mil striker two years ago. Relax people, I have faith in the owners and BR; and love the fact that they won't let pompous players money wants get in the way of the team. Sigursdon is going to be crying when AVB drives his newest team into the ground.

For me what we need and realisitc stuff

Dempsey 7-9mill
Borini 7-9 mill
And one winger - suseata, munain, adam johnson etc. take your pick - best price we can get

Outs
Adam
Aqualini
Maxi
Downing (For $20 mill dollars he was awful last year - I dont care the wages)

Don't agree with the Downing comment - Dalglish bought him, and didn't know where to play him - if you've ever watched a footballer playing with fear - Downing was one.

That was Downing's mistake he should have been playing with the ball.

I don't think Kenny told Downing to make back passes to Enrique every time he had the ball...Downing just can't handle the pressure of playing for LFC...

11 Jul 2012 18:28:12
Just read on a post on fb that Aquilani is going to play for us this year, could be as good as a new signing if he does

He should be good during the preseason games...if he stays interested for that long...

11 Jul 2012 18:29:05
www.tuttomercatoweb.com (an Italian website) is reporting that LFC are closing in on Callejon with an agreement could be reached this week. Maybe his move is linked to the arrival of Modric in Madrid.
They are also reporting that Milan are in negotiations with PSG for the transfer of Ibrahimovic. If this goes through Milan can make a move for Carroll.

yo eds is there any interest in Suseata an do you think liverpool could make a bid for him realy good player ?? thanks

I've heard Charlie Adam isn't part of LFC plans and Rodgers wants to sell? So is their any interest in the player?

11 Jul 2012 18:23:25
an important part this summer is bringing in players who will fit into the system that brendan rogers wants to employ and be able to express themselves in this system but in my opinion it is as if not more important to move out the players who wont/cant fit into this system in order for the team to progress as it should and also to move out the players that have been hanging around for far too long offering nothing to the team ie aquilani and cole ,also this might be the time for the club to stop showing sentimentality to certain players who are just not at the level they used or need to be at and lets not keep players within the squad just because they came through the system or are local if they are not good enough then it should not matter ie spearing would not get any where near to playing for any of the teams in the top ten off the league so why is he getting in our squad as an example ,so i for one will be happy for rogers to sign borini ,dempsey or who ever as he knows the system and the type of players that he needs to make it work so roll on the new season and the bright new start for our glorious club and hopefully a new trophy laden dawn playing the game the way it should be played and not worrying about other teams but have them worrying about us the it was when i first started supporting in the 80s !!

11 Jul 2012 18:22:07
Re. Borini and exciting. Last year we signed Henderson, Adam and Downing and the three of them combined produced close to zero excitement. As for Carroll. Apparently many Liverpool fans accept mediocre as good enough. How far we have fallen to be crying over Andy Carroll and 35 million when we have had Ian Rush, John Aldridge, Peter Beardsley, Kenny Dalglish, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Terry MacDermott, Kevin Keegan, John Toshack, Ian St. John, Roger Hunt and many other top goalscorers grace Anfield. We spent 35 million, turns out he is not worth it, or half it, so the club do right to cut their loses. We move on. We buy a new striker. Whoever it may be deserves our support, we gave Andy our support, sadly it hasn't worked out, it probably won't under the new flowing system. If it is Borini, good luck to him and all the reds in 2012 2013

Lets see what BR does with AC,JH and in particular Aqua-man.They are all young, with plenty of talent and potential.Allied to Suarez and Borini not to mention Joe Cole, there's a lot of creativity at the club now,Maxi may stay another season and with the possibility of Walcott, Sturridge and maybe Ramirez we can play some serious football.Almost forgot, Charlie Adam can knock a ball too!! B

Hey Ed's
before the window began the man players focused on leaving were Kuyt, Spearing, Maxi and Johnson. I was just wondering do any of you know if this has changed due to the appointment of BR? Also If we did sell Johnson who do you think would be the most realistic replacement now that Isla has or is moving?

Cheers

I am getting really excited for this season. as opposed to the majority of 'supporters' on here i am confident that rodgers knows exactly what he wants and he will get the right players. If you do a little research on Borini you will find out that he is player with a burning desire to succeed and to help his team on the field and that is exactly what we need right now at LFC. oh yeah another thing you find is that he is a whopping 21years old! but somehow he isnt world class? give him a break he has tons of time to improve and i think rodgers knows just how much potential their is having worked with the boy twice. I think we could be good this year and surprise everyone. and even if we arent as good as I hope we will be, I will still love to watch the team play and give them my full support. I think it would do a world of good if some people on hear lighten up and wait and see what the new season brings. and lay off the eds..their here to help bring us news and all the abuse is doing is making them reluctant to give out info and probably even come edit on here at all.. theyre because they want to be and i think some of you should be more grateful. never ranted on here before but it is honestly getting ridiculous.

Hi eds. just won you opinion. BR styl with Swansea was success, but most of teams took the game to them, and I think it helpt Swansea. But with Liverpool other teams parked the bus, and I supos they will do the same now, and I think will be hard to brake down. Barca could not brake chealsea and they messi, do you think we shuld give ac a chance?

On another day no disrespect but Chelsea would of been dead and buried in the first leg. Barba missed a lot of chances which is rare. A lot of teams parked the bus against Swansea especially Lfc last game of the season and that we should of lost by two or three at least.

Jordan

Did you not think that many teams in La liga parked the bus in a hope for a draw against barca

Have the eds or Macca heard anything more about Joe Allen I for one think he would be great in our midfield already, with Lucas and Gerrard also he is young so under Rodgers he can improve evenmore!

11 Jul 2012 18:00:01
I dont think were looking to pile money into the squad this year. Were looking to bulk up and push for champions league.
I just dont see a big money move this year i can see borini, dempsey, allen and players like cole, suso, sterling, shelvey maybe aqua given there chance.

people forget this squad created more chances than any other team in the EPL(or atleast top 3) and hit the bar and post over 30x.
the only probelm with this team is coversion, we had top 3 defence, top goal keeper, and solid mid even if we did miss lucas.

BRENDAN RODGERS hopes to pull off the £7m signing of Jose Callejon from Real Madrid in the next few days.

Liverpool boss Rodgers targeted the winger “ who can also play as an attacking midfielder “ after losing out to Tottenham in the race for Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Callejon, 25, scored 13 goals for Madrid last season despite being used largely as a substitute, and fits the Rodgers mould.

The former Spain Under-21 international is young, quick, comfortable with the ball on either foot, and keen to move unless he gets more playing time at the Bernabeu.

That looks unlikely with Real set to sign Luka Modric from Tottenham.

A source close to Callejon said last night: The chance to play for Liverpool is very attractive for the kid. They have made him an offer.

But it will be up to Jose Mourinho whether he is allowed to leave or not.

ed if carroll leaves will there be a big name striker coming in to replace him {Ed002's Note - What is a "big name" striker. What is wrong with Borini? Dempsey?}

Vennegoor of Hesselink to come out of retirement and sign for LFC. Now that's a big name striker....

Andy is better than the aforementioned Ed, mthat is the issue..

Lee YNWA

Ed002, for one Borini is a chance at best, no proven track record and NO prem experience, for two Dempsey is not and has never been a striker. If you are going to let one of your main 2 strikers go, then you better have a bloody good back up plan.

hi Ed's
I read the posts here daily just to see whats happening and normally compare it to media speculation. to me something just doesnt quit add up. i watched BR press confrence and from what he said i just couldn't link Borini or Dempys. from what BR has done since coming in, he seems to be intune with lfc supporters and it would be rather odd if this proposed excitting transfer was to be any of the two above mentioned . and as far as Ramirez is concerned, to me it would not make sense as to why we would bring in a young winger with very little experince wheen we have so much young talent. im not saying were not signing these players , but only they are not what he said they are in the pres confrence. i dont doubt their ability but at the moment Suso and Steerling excite me more than they do. please ed's, give your own opinions on this.

i must admit , BR is keeping his cards very close to his chest.

great site Eds.

Ramirez is quality even more trickier than Suarez! He would be a top buy for LFC just like Honda would of been if we'd of followed up our interest up in Jan 11! Sterling is only 17 and Suso 18 Really speaking their not gonna break in the 1st team for another 12 18 month's! So Ramirez would'nt be stepping on their toe's!

11 Jul 2012 17:39:25
eds please tell me this, why the hell are a lot of lfc fans moaning about the rumours on borini an dempsey,no one know's who we are signing fact, rodger's and the owner's doing all the work behind closed door's,but none of us know FA who we will sign,we all have player's we would love too come in,but we are just wishing.there is no deal's done for any player yet,so chill out and just wait and see who we get in before you moan and grown such bad form.who ever comes in rodger's must think they a the sort of player we need his the gaffa trust him, just like MOST player's linked too us its all BS.all rep's are doing right now is druming up.trying too get there player's moved for big money or load's more money for the club they play for now FACT.in rodger's i trust walk on walk on with hope.jay essex red for life red till dead.ps i cant wait too see 1 or 2 new player's come in WHOEVER THEY ARE walk on

11 Jul 2012 17:39:15
Were would Ramirez fit in a 433 formation, if he did sign of course?

Part of the midfield 3 or the front 3?

Would it work like this for example:

Suarez----------------Ramirez
--------Carroll/borini----------

Or will he be more central in midfield? Like this:

----------Lucas---------
---gerrard---Ramirez--

Thoughts please.

MIKEY

Either really! He's a bit of a playmaker and can also take player's on in an attacking mode! So he could play in both position's! Oh also on the wing if need be! So would be an exceptional buy if we got him!

Midfield i'd say, allowing us to purchase a natural winger to play on the right of the forward three. Ramirez is more effective in a central position from what ive seen of him.

A question for the eds, with it looking likely that we will sign borini, do you think this is the player Rodgers was talking about when he mentioned we were interested in an exciting player that the fans would love? Also what are your thoughts on the player, do you think him to be a good signing? are you excited about acquiring his services?

Thanks

11 Jul 2012 16:49:46
People who talk about Andy Carroll being overpriced @ 35Million, remember this

Torres was brought in for 23Million ? Sold for 50Million....27Million profit

Carroll snd Suarez brought in for a combined sum of 57Million ? To me, that says we paid 30Million (Give or take) for both players

When you look at it like that, we have done well

ReDDaZ

I have defended Carroll since the day he signed for the club. He has come in for a lot of unfair criticism at times but when on form he can be unplayable.

But I don't think even his biggest fans will say he was worth £35m when we signed him. He was a £20m player at most. But that is not his fault and is not his concern.

He doesn't need to justify the price tag, just his place in the team. And he started doing that towards the end of the season.

JRG

He was a 15m at most for an unproven like himself

11 Jul 2012 16:47:51
Hi Ed i just read a news that lfc make a 15m bid for suaseta. Hw much truth in it. And how long it will take to confrm the signing of borini. And do lfc have real interest in Allen.
Thanx. Great site. Keep up the good work.

Would lo Susaeta but would hate to have Allen most overated player in PL at mo.

11 Jul 2012 17:05:57
As it stands:

AC going out on loan? Sounds like BS, that would not make sense for a number of reasons.

Borini? Is he or is he not signing?

Ramirez? Again as above?

Allen?

So far these are the only names I can see linking us? Not extacly 'exciting'. I hope we have some tricks up our sleeves because at present these players would not make massive improvements. Hope I am wrong.

AC going on loan just reeks stupid idea!
Eds am I wrong here?

Rumour is that somebody high up wants rid of the majority of Kenny's signings; this would mean Downing, Carroll, Adam and there is even a suggestion of Henderson. This would tie in with Macca's "four in, four out" Borini Dempsey (fill in the remaining blanks) would be the four in.

If they get rid of henderson then they need to get rid of whoever is making decisions like that. he will shine this coming season in this system

Kenny also signed Coates, Enrique,Suarez, so why aren't they leaving ? your just posting the people you don't like... I know 100% Henderson is going no where.

G BOX

Surely Spearing has to be one of the four, Kuyt has already gone - leaving space for 2 - guesswork can certainly pass the time.

John B

I for one would be really gutted if we even think of selling henderson..he for me is an ideal professional, hard worker & a future world class player..
and we really have other players like cole, spearing, maxi, aqua to sell b4 we start getting rid of kenny's signings..especially downing who i think would vastly improve this season..

Well Kuyt has left already and it seems Maxi may be on his way back to Argentina. I would seriously doubt that the owners would take losses on Carrol, Henderson, Downing and Adam and then have to spend more to replace them. It does not make sense from a business perspective.

The someone high up wants ALL of Kennys signings out rumour is utter non-sense.

11 Jul 2012 17:01:26
Looks like Maxi is on his way.
"We are waiting for official news about the end of Maxi's link (with Liverpool)" said Old Boys' secretary Pablo Morosano.

for macca totally agree with you on borini think im talking for everyone when i say why does carroll have to make way though every team needs different options and he certainly is that hope we have both in the squad next year im a little worried about joe allen though cant see him in the starting 11 and think we have enough cover for that position think the money could be spent on something more needed someone with pace takes people on and can play either flank adam johnson maybe cheers for your updates macca

Allens better than hendo Adams shelvy and spearing so I think he will be in the starting 11

hi eds. i udnerstand lfc wanting dempsey. he is a good attacking midfieder. he has one year left on his contract but i would not pay 7.5million for him. for that price BR should go and snap up afellay. may be injury proone but he was hardly given a chance for barca but when he play he put work in. i would take the gamble and buy him and he is 26 year old. thank you're doing a great job:)

Borini not good enough
Dempsey not good enough
We will struggle to make Europa Cup unless we do well in domestic mickey mouse cup again! we are so far behind the top 6 even Newcastle, even EVERTON did better and our saviour lies on some Chelski reject brilliant!

LORDY!

Ur downright stupid if u think Borini is a chelsea reject. He never got a fair chance at chelski, as is the case with most of their academy players. I think he is definitely an improvement on carrol, n has a good finish on him. He could be our Chicharito.
Indian Buzzer

Dempsey and borini will add something although i dont particularly like dempsey as a footballer personally, i d have rathered if we d kept dirk
however will these types of signing bring us any closer to chelsea united and city, i am not so sure

Maybe BR will bring the best out of the players already here. Look at man united, how many players of there's would you love in our team, not many and they finished second. I still believe we need a few signings just to lift the squad. Borini would be a decent back up striker, we can't sign a proven world class one as they won't want to be benched if BR goes for AC and LS up front. I would live to sign Vargas, Allen, Borini, and a ramieraz/suesta type of player.

Did newcastle get top six by buying big name players that everyone new of? Did tottenham get top four by buying big name players every year? Have utd got won title's because they went out and spent £30 million on a player every year? Have barca become the best team in the world by buying world class players? No they buy potential and put a good team together and make them play like a team. Wouldn't it be great for LFC to find another alonso, owen, fowler! They became world known players at our club!

A team is as good as it is managed n made to perform like a machine ..fitting in with each other to become a force..

no team has 11 messi n ronaldos..both the signings would take us forward.

n shame on guys who think clint dempsey is not good. had he choose arsenal or spuds then you would have been moaning foul.

I believe i m entitled to an opinion regarding clint dempsey, big player in a small pond, i just dont see where he fits into our side

Borini is better than half of the strikers around at the mo that are in his age group. Your missing the point that he will come into the side and more than likely take a back seat at first but being only 21? means he can learn and develop. Everybody thought Gerrard was muck but he stuck with us learned our plays and now he is a god. As for dempsey not being good enough thats a joke right? the guy has reached europa league final and the past 3 seasons been up there in assits and goals consistantly. You gotta stop thinking about stars for the first team and realise a team is nothing unless you have good back up of players for injuries etc

LFC Paddy

Barcelona are one of the best team in the world and still buy world class players every year eg mascharano, david villa, fabrigas, zlatan ibramovic, alex sanchez I can go till tomorrow so plz check your knowledge before writing rubish and liverpool need world class players or will suffer every year coz in modern football you need money or else mid table look at team who have won trophys for five years you will see owners who are spending

Blue forever

Blue forever. I did my research on their starting 11. Only fabregas is a regular in that side. Sanchez breaking through. So maybe one or two big name signings, and one of them were produced by barcelona. Except that they all/majority came through at Barcelona.

Jordan

11 Jul 2012 16:42:50
amazing how fickle football can be, last year most posts were about getting rid of carroll because he's crap now every other post is "why would we let him go" and now because some "reporter" from the bbc has twisted what rodgers said in a press conference into a story that carroll is available now people (a small amount of them mind you) are turning on rodgers before we have even played a game.

exactly when did rodgers say carroll was going anywhere, he dismissed the question from the reporter in the exact same way he dismissed the questions about players he might be signing, in other words he wouldn't talk about it, that doesn't mean it might not happen but i dont get how all this media storm has whipped up because rodgers said "andys a good player a lot of clubs would be interested in him" that statement would apply to nearly every first team player at liverpool and why would he publicly slate one of his own players in a press conference? He simply refused to talk about transfers in or out that was all, if we keep quiet on all our signings who are coming in im pretty sure we would do our outgoing business in the same manner so carroll may or may not be going but i would imagine only a handful of people know which it is and i'm pretty sure none of them are on here OR reporters at the BBC

Well put mate thinking exactly the same this morning just couldn't be bothered writing it ha.

Totally agree with u mate there were plenty slagging him throughout the season now just cos he had a good last month to the season he,s world class they think , i personally dont mind if he goes or stays i trust rodgers in what he,s doing i just want players to hit the ground running giving it there all from the 1st game of the season not just the last 6 games ..... steve

11 Jul 2012 16:38:28
having watched a lot of borini on youtube( i know i know) he knows how to finish and he knows how to make good runs, with suarez and another? providing for him this kid could score a hatload

Agree mate. Borini is not a bad player. For 10 million, cud be a bargain.
Indian Buzzer

He only scored 9 goals last season. Surely it would make more sense going for Ba who scored more goals and would cost less!

Lewis the Red

11 Jul 2012 16:37:04
Most likely Liverpool signings will be
Ki-Sung Yong = 7 million
Daniel Sturridge = 16 million
Benedikt Howedes = 15 million
Fabio Borini = 8 million
Clint Dempsey = 12 million

I would take that we don't have champions league football after all.

How in the blue hell is Sturridge worth 16m?

Lewis the Red

To the original poster! Your pricing of the listed player's is a bit OTT! You never advised KD+DC on what we should pay for player's last season did ya?

Hi Eds, im not sure if anyone has asked this, but what is Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush's role for LFC?
Kabir {Ed001's Note - similar to the role Bobby Charlton has at United, no power within the club, as such, just there to be rolled out for the cameras etc. It is more of a thank you for their service, than any real need for them. Ambassadorial role I would class it as, they are there to represent the club to the outside world.}

11 Jul 2012 16:24:09
anyone else worried about the gap appearing between chelsea city united even spurs and arsenal and then us

chelsea signing some top drawer players and with oscar and hulk also likely, they have a scary front six
city and utd were miles ahead
spurs signing vertonghen adebayor sig and likely moutinho

i have no doubt that borini allen dempsey etc are players that will add to the side but are they players who can bring us back up alongside the likes of chelsea city and united, i am not so sure.

i believe we need to get our south american scouting system in order big time and get hold of some of these very talented kids coming out of brazil argentina uruguay before others do, bologna signed gaston for a pittance. portuguese clubs do it all the time although they have strong cultural connections

we managed it ourselves through rafa signing lucas leiva, lets face it brazilians and argentines can play football so if there are some top class kids there we should be getting them before they head elsewhere in europe and become huge

I agree with of some of what you say. i like br but to be honest i think the players he wants are not good to get back in the top 4

Im not disagreeing with you but i think its a lot easier for italian and portugese/spanish clubs to get youngsters from south america without having work permit issues. guys like oscar and lucas moura etc are already in the national team so thats why its easier for english teams to get them but unknown youngsters (like g ramirez would have been at the time bologna got him) i think are very difficult for english teams to get. the eds will know more about it than i do

I like br also and i think if these are our targets dempsey allen borini they re not filling me with excitement to be honest. on the otherhand they will make decent additions to the squad , i just fear what happens if suarez for example gets injured, where is the creativity going to come from

there must be kids on display at the olympics that we can sign up also

i remember way back when watching an u17 world cup in which a young damien duff terrorised defences bringing ireland to the semis, same with di maria, if i can spot that these kids are gonna be huge why can t our talent spotters

Good point on the italisn and portuguese sides abilty to get them regarding work permits, i didnt know this, however we did get lucas for 8 million and if players are that good its possible to get them in under a special compemnsation no, like extraordinary talent or something

Damien Duff is the biggest underachiever i have ever known, Joe Cole was class too. You saying you want both of these in your team!

A 23 yr old damien duff was awesome, on one wing with robben on the other , i believe he won the title a few times

11 Jul 2012 16:23:51

PS Great site Eds...

Rasmus elm is utter utter crap lad but the rest are ok

Borini and Granero can both help us improve in the attacking third.I still would love to see Theo Walcott in the red of Liverpool though.

11 Jul 2012 16:15:45
Hey guys, just to drop my opinion on two things;

Clint Dempsey - I've never really liked this guy. He's good, but I don't think he's good enough for a 'top flight' club, which I suppose is what our aim is to be. Has he had any seasons where he's played that special? I'm not saying he's a bad player, but not good enough for LFC. I think he perfectly suits Fulham. Plus, the fact he's getting old.

Andy Carroll - If we get 'rid I'll be gutted for him. He had far too much pressure put on him and he struggled coming back with an injury, but towards the end of the Season he played like an absolute beast and had a good Euro's tournament. He absolutely killed John Terry off in our last home game against Chelsea. I personally think he'll have a great Season next year and we need to hang on to him. I would be open to a loan deal to help him improve and return a better player, but not a loan deal to hopefully offload him at the end. I've been a Carroll supporter since the day he signed and I felt great since the day he started improving for us, but getting 'rid now would just be such a waste. Also, he didn't get much service last season as well as being benched for a LOT of games. If he returned to his poor run of form until January then maybe we get let go of him, but I just don't think we should let him go yet, no chance.

Anyone else have the same view/s?
Looking forward to see who our signings are, and will welcome all players with open arms; because whether I like them or not it's better to support the players that play for the/my team than to discourage them! I'm hoping for a Ramirez signing soon, fingers crossed!

Thanks, Ell.

11 Jul 2012 16:15:32
Liverpool are considering making a £7m move for Demba Ba after Fabio Borini has decided to stay in Italy. Gaston Ramirez may be the only other transfer this summer as they look for a winger/attacking midfielder and he ticks both boxes. Liverpool will likely get rid of Maxi and Pacheco but they may find it harder to shift Aquilani,Spearing,Adam and Cole who could be sold this summer.

Id like to see us keep pachecho , the kid is well adapted to pass and move football, let the past be the past bygones and all that, pachecho can actually pass the ball

11 Jul 2012 16:00:41
I think all the people moaning about borini should take a step back. hardly anyone has seen him. i truly havent. but when you ask a fan from roma they loved him they want. him sure he scored 9 goals but the s**t that was Roma last season was oof. people say he isnt good enough for liverpool and leave at that are absoulute numptys, (ed your an exception you obviously did research on the guy) give the lad a break he is 21 and could be great or he could be 8 - 12 million dollar flop. just let brendan do what he wants atm at least he wants to introduce one style of play not 2 or 3 and then mix them hoping for the best... JLFC

Go and have a look for yourself if you think he is good. he hardly played alot last season why because he is not good. if this is what we are getting and loaning out ac i dread to think what next seasons going to be like

Give the guy a chance. He was injured for 3 months of last season and still finished with 10 goals on 20 odd games...compare that to the 1 in 5 with Carroll at a third of the cost, it may well be a great bit of business

11 Jul 2012 16:00:26
Is there no way of filtering all the rubbish posts off this site... Why in the rumour section do people ask is there any interest in this player, that player etc, surely this should only be for people with Real Info or sightings. After all there is a section for questions?? {Ed002's Note - A large amount of the rubbish does get cut. What you are seeing is the good stuff.}

Ed002, that is a real worry, haven't the tecno wizards invented a WUM filter.

Keep up the good work.

11 Jul 2012 16:00:11
It is hilarious how some fans have suddenly turned on BR over the whole Andy Carroll thing.

Why can't people understand that, in football, you first pick a philosophy. If you have players who do not fit in to the way you want to play, they are of little use to you.

Borini may not be as exotic as some are hoping for, but he fits and buys into Rodgers' philosophy. Andy Carroll, for all his strengths, is not the quickest at closing down opposing centre backs, or the greatest on the deck. No matter how much he cost before, if he's not what the manager wants, then he's not what he wants!

For what it's worth, I reckon Borini represents a low-risk, shrewd purchase. If it doesn't work out, then at least we haven't lost a fortune unlike a few players signed under the last regime.

Ash

I give him 6 months then he will be sacked like he was at reading.

Great site Eds! Just looking at the media watch section on the official website and every 'rumour' and article relating to Borini have been taken down?! Coincidence?

Some of the players who are been suggested on here are so unrealistic it's un true, we can't keep living in the past we really need to get behind Brendan this season a couple of fresh face . Sturrage, Dempsey , and hopefully Adam Johnson and beg our top boys to give it one more season and see what happens before jumping ship , we are not far away here just forget the cups use them for the young lads and best eleven every league game

Hi your right! thats what most fans would do,its a pity its not so clear to the management

Eds,I really don't see why we are going for Dempsey,he scores goals that's obvious,but dembele is a much better player,he is quicker and stronger and has a pretty good shot,he has always stood out for me and I believe if we pay a couple million more we could get dembele instead of Dempsey,what do you think? 1kopite {Ed002's Note - I am sure there are lots of other options out there as well. But there is interest in Dempsey.}

Do u think,we can really compete with other top teams,if thies are our real targets-Allen,Borini,Dempsey.Just look who did they bought and their targets are(Hazard,Hulk,Cavani,Modrich,Higuan,Lewandowski....)Hope i'm not right but this year we will be out of top 4 again and things are getting worse. Is for real Borini is our exciting player?? We should't sacked The King.Hope he is round the Anfield, bacause we will need him again!! BG83

I'm sure if they want to set fire to another 100m they'll give KK a call.

I agree but we just need to add a marque signing to yhat

Get it through your skull, we cannot attract top players at the moment. We have to bring young players to the club and make them great again.

Sooty

I'm sick of posts like this slating our players and team. Since when does having every world class player on our team guarantee success? We need to play like a team, not have 11 one-man teams out on the field running around. I am shocked at the lack of support for our club on here lately. Look what Rodgers did with the players he had at Swansea... Look at the quality of players we have already on our team. If we can iron out the link this year and play as a team good things can happen. Get behind the team or get lost. People should be proud to support LFC.
maythe-Red-bewithyou

We cant attract top players but we could attract the likes of ramirez rondon jackson martinez

we could be scouring brazil and argentina for the next messi and ronaldhino before he hits the big time. i feel we miss out a lot on south american talent and now is a good time to move for more with two uruguyan s and a brazilian in the squad already to welcome them and an argentine

we should have been targetting the likes of lucas moura oscar before they get out of our reach like we did with lucas, he cost 8 million, best 8 million we ever spent

Yeah however having world class players is more likely to bring you success

i dont doubt borini allen dempsey could add something to the group, but they wont bring us up to the level of city united and chelsea, we have one superstar in suarez, if he gets injured we are f***ed fact!
we need more skillful players in our final third. i hope pachecho is kept on as he is suited to pass n move football

Hi eds can't tell you how releived i am about skrtel. Anyway is West Ham's interest in Carroll real? {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Lets keep Agger aswell,a footballing Centre Half, should fit Brendans style of play

11 Jul 2012 15:30:59
All the guys sayin why borini? Well the fact is the lad is a great talent pace power skill and most importantly football intelligent, he would form a devastating partnership wit suarez should he sign, the way everyone was asking who is suarez at the time ! He and suarez would be on the same wave length makin runs and one touch passes for each other the way maxi and suarez combine when playing !and the way suarez and Carroll were never on the same wave length , The big difference is tho borini is a great finisher of chances and between them they could hit 40 to 50 league goals next season
So everyone crying for cavanI and such just get real we can't get these players wit out champ league and back our manager to make the right calls and give the players a chance , thanks eds great job on this site as always don't know how ye put up wit some people on here tho

The lad sounds good, I hope he gets off to a great start. The problem is not with him, it is because the press picked up on this "exciting player" comment, and this sent the expectation levels of who it was going to be through the roof.
If it is him then he unfortunately is going to have to deal with that now, look what they were like with last years signings. However when I made a comment this morning about the press conference and the hype it has caused, I got slaughtered.
I know how you feel now Ed's, and respect to all of you, I can see why some people just stick to asking about the same names all the time.

Could you name some wealthy football teams, who perhaps are not known to the public?

For example - I believe Palermo are..

Anzhi, malaga, psg, s**tty ? and lots of middle eastern clubs.

Hi Ed, it seems Suso is getting alot of attantion due to his permances in the Euor U19's tournament. BR has been looking at this and see's him has a potential first team player for next season.

Too early for him to be a first team player. The lad's just 18. give him a year or two to find his feet.

Think I'm the only one who think we dont HAVE to sign someone, as the squad is very good already?

solid proven defence, and one of the best ball playing goal keepers in the world?

Midfield of now Gerrard who is back to his best, Henderson and shelvey who can flourish under BR, Adam as a squad player, Lucas back from injury; one of the best holding midfielders in the league, and Downing who created the most scoring chances last season which for the majority saw Andy Carroll in bad form.We can also use Adam as a rotational player, as well as two proven players (although one not in England) in Aqualani and Joe cole?

Probably a bit short going forward but but Suarez who missed 8 games last season, and Andy Carroll who is at the minute unplayable, the Italy defence couldnt handle him, his touch is great and can certainly be used in our system to hold the ball up and play in others. Don't forget Craig Bellamy who proved he still has it

If needs be, we can bring up the likes of Sterling and Suso, even Coady. Suso is probably more affective than most of the premier league wingers now.

THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT, YNWA

Carroll is a £20m player. we put too much pressure on him as he been bought by £35m but it's not his fault.

r-r

Lets face it, in real terms Nando was not a 50m player and Carroll was not 35m. The differential of 15m was about right. Nando was 30-35m Carroll was 15-20m.
I agree, too much pressure was put on the lad because of the enormity of the fee, most of this whipped up by the media.

Have heard from a good source that Brendan Rodgers doesn't want Carroll, as he wants to give Adam Morgan his chance in the first team, being behind Borini in the pecking order.

Don't shoot the messenger, I want Carroll to stay, however I do think Morgan is a great talent, and a local boy who'll wear his heart on his sleeve.

Is this source possibly a Mr. Morgan? First name Adam?

Why you would want Carrol to remain at this club despite his obvious failings is beyond good reasoning? Tell me: is it the 4 goals he scored in a whole season with few assists? I bet Pacheco or Eccleston would score even more if they get proper chance. Carrol for me is way too slow, lacks body ballance, is a wayward header and very immobile. Above all, he can't play tiki taka as BR would like, thereby making him a liability. For these reasons, he needs to go as we are not meant for each other and he won't be missed. We need to get whatever we can and move on. Heard we've got Amadou Dialo from the French league on a 10-day trial at LFC. Any truth in this ED, as I heard the lad is a boyhood fan and is quite impressive on the pitch as well.

Did he get played in the start of the season?Even after scoring against Everton? NO

Did Kenny wreck his confidence by keeping him on the bench? YES

Did the "support" from the fans demoralise him? YES

Did he turn around his game after being booed at his home ground? YES

Can anybody point to a match after Geordies where he didnt try his hardest?
He put in a string of good performances and continued it in the Euro.
I would say he has shown enough improvement to be given one more season.

Corvin

Spot on Corvin. I'm sure a loan move to the Hammers will do his confidence the world of good :)

Is he getting paid a massive amount of money to be doing all above .... Yes ! These should be the bloody basics of his game... He should be bursting a gut when he plays for us .. Like every other player . I'd give him another season but he needs to improve bigtime

Clint Dempsey could be heading to Anfield after all.

Various English and American sources claim Dempsey is close to a deal with Liverpool after the team's official site listed the American player on its roster before it was taken off.

After a stellar year with Fulham, Dempsey had maintained his goal was transferring to a Champions League club, stressing he will not sign a new contract with his current club as his deal with the team is set to expire in the upcoming season.

The Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers hopes to add Dempsey to the lineup with a bid of 7.5 million pounds, though the team would not be participating in the Champions league.

Rodgers has also expressed interest in Roma striker Fabio Borini to add pressure to a slumping Andy Carroll.

11 Jul 2012 14:55:53
I had i idea yesterday. IF only IF Kaka comes to Liverpool, do you think that we will use the 4-6-0. And Kaka used as a false number 9. i remember Rodgers comments on the euro final, and that he thought about using 4-6-0 formation in Liverpool

Thought about using 4-6-0 at Swansea, was what he said. But yes with the right players, why not in the future.

You have to have a decent team to do this - liverpool don't have this

Edd002 talks a load of rubbish, he knows nothing about football at all and is in fact a girl sitting in her bedroom doing this when she is waiting tables to pay for college. Basically with Edd002 its a number games - the more people say Messi is signing then Edd002 is likely to agree and say its a possibility.. {Ed002's Note - I don't see Messi joining this summer but I can see Liverpool making a knee jerk purchase of Messi in January to help with that final push for a top four place.}

Dude your a troll that sits in his bedroom with nothing better to do

I got the feeling that the averange age on this site is falling really low. One thing I don't understand is why we would go for dempsey and not ramirez. They are both attacking midfielders and ramirez is only 21 while dempsey's 30 so why not pay the extra 6-10 mil for someone who will guaranteed have a sell on value. I understand that dempsey is already settled in the country but sometimes you have to take risk's because ramirez has the potential to be great and he already is better than dempsey imo. Not slagging Clint off but he's getting on a bit and that doesn't suit the owner's style.

Which I think is exactly the point everyone wants to know? Dempsey does not make sence, if your going to buy someone this age he has to be special, I'm sorry but he is not, and we are talking the same sort of money we were not willing to pay for Sig?
I keep promising myself that I am not going to believe anything untill the club confirm it, so lets see what happens.

Just thought I'd give my two-pence's worth. I'd be happy with the three following additions:

Jakub Blaszczykowski - Borussia Dortmund
Fabio Borini - AS Roma
Joe Allen - Swansea

They would be great additions for reasonable prices. Borini is young and is a natural goal poacher with his movement. He isn't a striker that creates chances for himself but instead converts chances by good movement. With the amount of chances produced by the likes of Gerrard, Suarez and Henderson last season, I think he could be a wise purchase. Allen has a great passing range and gets the play ticking in midfield by both off-the-ball movement and on-the-ball control and composure. He isn't a flair player, but is strong, composed player, who already thrives in the style of play that Brendan Rodgers instils. Lastly Blaszczykowski (Kuba) is a fine right winger, who plays for the team and not the money. He's loved by Dortmund fan's for his respect, passion, work rate and ability. He likes to take defenders on and play to the by-line. He also does well in tracking back to provide cover for the right back.

Hopefully sell-on:
Spearing, Cole, Adam, Aqualani.

If we could offload a few of our current players and get these 3 players; I think we could have a great squad to compete this season.

Kenny D JFT96 YNWA

P.S. I know Swansea have a 12 month player protection clause, but Liverpool could still get Joe Allen if Swansea get a good offer.

Keep cole i think he has a bit of hunger left in him

Ed002, In swansea for their press conference, in Barcalona for the Chelsea game ( know your a fan ) and talking to liverpool scouts when in the states, suggests this site has a far bigger budget than I thought, or you have another media job, either way I was wondering with players like Jakub Blaszczykowski, and Ki Sung-Yueng now joining the ever increasing list of players joining, are there any names currently that you feel are looking very, very likely to join or is it all just speculation at this point?
RNred {Ed002's Note - Borini and Dempsey seem to top the list right now. All enquiries for Blaszczykowski have been rebuffed with a "not for sale" statement. Interest has been shown by Inter, Fulham, Lazio and Liverpool. Ki Sung-Yueng seems to have been linked with more clubs than any other player this summer with QPR, Everton, Liverpool, Sunderland, Cardiff, Werder Bremen, Dortmund and more knocking on Celtic's door by all accounts. Aside from certain interest from QPR and Bremen, the rest seems conjecture.}

If Borini signs why don't all the so called fans give him a chance.. Have they every really seen him play?

You all want Ramirez,, is he really that good?

I would love to see the response to this post..

Cheers

Macca

------------------------------------
Macca are we really going to be saying this every year? "Give the guy a chance?". We don't have the luxury to be giving chances anymore. We want player(s) that will keep us from saying "Liverpool is one man team". Can you really say that Borini will help the situation? I doubt that. I also feel Carroll is far more better than Borini, even if they are completely different players I believe Carroll will be/would have been the revelation of the season.

Can the owners please understand and you who is defending them, we really need at least another star on the team and dig deep into their pockets instead of buying mediocre players here and there? Baseball is not the same as football.

And yes Ramirez is a sure horse to light the Premier League if used properly. I'm betting my house on that. How do you expect to compete when Chelsea buys Hazard and Hulk, Arsenal, Podolski and Giroud and you buy Borini?

Fan is not the guy who defends every decision like a blind man. Fan is the guy who gives a constructive criticism. Are you people really that blind that you believe we will get CL in the coming years when we keep on buying similar players like Borini and branding them "exciting players"?

I liked BR in the beginning. With his latest comments its like I'm seeing another Hodgson era.

How do you know rodgers said anything about an exciting player (believing what you read on twitter?) IF he did say that how do you know it was borini he was talking about? and as for giving players a chance is that not exactly what has happened to carroll? 90 percent of people on here slated the guy for 3 quarters of the season and now he has started to show a bit of what he is capable of and now those same people are up in arms at the possibility he could be leaving. So surely giving players a chance (especially since they haven't even kicked a ball for us) is exactly what we did for carroll and should do with any player that we sign, whether its borini or not

You can have a team of `superstars` but if they dont play well together then they become an average team.
Last season I believe Liverpool were 10/15 goals away from Champions League, we did not score when we really needed to, we did not have the player who was going to just steal a goal, a Poacher so to speak, not enough goals from midfield, so to say we have to spend massive amounts of money is not right, spend money on the right players to fit into the team and the style of play. If our manager believes he is buying the right players then that is fine.
Just because a player plays outstanding for one team does not mean they will play fantastic for another (yes I know some do) look at Charlie Adam, great at Blackpool very avaerage (imo)for us.
If we buy 2-3 players and we score another 10-15 goals, more i hope, then things will be a lot different this coming season.
I will to sucseed can make all the difference, lets be positive and let the results do the talking.
We all want to see signings, but I`d prefer to wait to get the right players at the right price and not follow the likes of City and chelsea and inflate wages to get thier man.

kevc

If it's all about give a chance then what's wrong with our academy player ? Morgan , Suso, Raheem Escalton all of them deserve a chance.
r-r

Of course we will give Borini a chance...but I will be surprised if he's the player that Rodgers described as very exciting and that we would love...

At the very best of times a head of state has an approvall rate of about 60%. Barack Obama, David Cameron, François Hollande, Stephen Harper and the likes of them can only dream of such numbers and they are elected into their positions.

Brendan Rodgers was appointed! Whether you back him or not, Rodgers is the manager and WE are all Liverpool fans. Good fan, bad fan, good reputation, bad reputation all of this is subjective as in the end all that a REAL fan wants is for his / her club to do well.

I live in Canada and have never heard of good Canadians and bad Canadians. However, Saguenay girls have a reputation ...good or bad depending on who you talk to.

Now to make this post legal, John Terry's taylor and barber are magician's, aren't they? I think I have seen his picture once or twice in the last couple of days and he looks GOOD. A certain Uruguayan at our club could take many lessons from JT.

Borini and Dempsey (if they arrive at LFC) would improve the squad. That's my opinion and I'll stick to it for the next two weeks as I'm off on holiday with no computers, telephones or televisions. I'll be cycling, camping and running the frustrations of the 2011-2012 season away. Please kids, behave while I'm away.

Enjoy your hols, I have a feeling it will be a roller coaster at LFC when you return. :-)

People need to realise that a team works because of how well they play together. What separates the tp teams from the very good teams is a few world class players.
Newcastle don't have a world class player, but they work well together.
United work well together and then add Rooney, Nani, Evra and Valencia. 3 of the most consistent attackers on the planet, all with a lot of flair.
Same goes for Arsenal, work well as a team but they have Van Persie, Vermalen and Arteta.
Tottenham work well and then have Van Der Vaart, Modric and Bale.
Chelsea don't work well but have Cech, Terry, Cole, Lampard and Torres, which proves 5 world class players puts you on par with Newcastle, who have none.
Liverpool have Reina, Gerrard, Agger and Suarez. All we need is a few players to get us ticking. We have our match winners already.
The only exception to this theory is Barcelona, Man City and Real Madrid, which is why they are the 3 best teams in the world at this minute. 90% of their starting line-ups are world class/match winners.

My point is, Borini is a peice of a jigsaw that you often find only has one colour, say from the middle of the sky or something, and on his own looks boring and pointless, but without him, the whole jigsaw is pointless.

YNWA! (Adam)

Newcastle has world class players. Cisse is one, Arfa and Tiote. Is just that they know where and how to dig unlike us. Where were we when we needed a striker to get 4th position last January? Cisse anyone? Yes I wanted us to buy Cisse last January. On that price he was a bargain and it showed.

Yes and Borini is the missing piece of the jigsaw. What a load of ****! In a world full of good football players, Borini is the ideal piece of the jigsaw. Are you people think before you talk?

That jigsaw analogy was Cantona-esque, Adam!

Love it :-)

Hi Ed now it s looking like borini and dempsey will come as strikers. Do u have any idea what other position BR want to improve. I want a winger and cm. I want Ramirez and johnson or sturidge. What do u reckon.
Thanx. Keep up the gud work.

Why dont we sign Crespo? Hes out of contract currently. I know hes old but he would be a good option to bring on if we need to score.

Why does we offer John Barnes a new contract.

Twelve year olds should have their own posting page .

Haha I haven't seen crespo since Korea in 2002 he must be at least 45 by now haha
Et

Korea 02?? Im sure I seen him in Istanbul a few years later.

Suprised you didn't see him take us apart first half of a certain match in 2005 tbh Et...

hi guys fellow red's. id just like to say and i hope we get shut of the so called jay spearing he is no way good enough for liverpool football club the lad was are worst player last season in my eyes anyways.

I am with you on that one every time he is on the field I cringe. He appers to be scared of the ball when it is kicked to him. Maybe the one touch fooball will help as he seems to want to get rid of it as soon as he touches it, but does not bother to run with it ,keep possesion and kicks it to either team.

BREAKING NEWS

It has been confirmed that Macca and the rest of the Editors get all their information off danlfc4eva. They have got no contacts in the club as they say. They just look at what Danny the DemiGod says an pretends its 'what they have heard'.
You mark Danlfc4eva's words. He is NEVER WRONG.

What a load of Borini !

Rodgers will go the same way as AVB at Chelsea.

No doubt about it !

Macca,
well said about the so-called fans slagging Borini even though he hasn't even signed yet. some fans even had a go at me for saying that if Martinez or whoever became manager signed then give him a chance. there was a time when fans had their own opinions and wouldn't follow the crowd. also just go back from melwood, were the training session looked so different from other managers that we have had. lets give Br a chance
thanks

Dempsey to Liverpool 8 million plus season loan of Carrol to Fulham, since they are lacking in strike power once Dempsey comes to Liverpool

Why would we spend 8mil on a 30 year old? When we could spend double that on a 21 year old who is going to be a superstar! I:E Ramirez! Just do'es not make sense!

In my opinion Fulham have got the better deal.

Hi People
Just wanted to say, I posted on here in October 2010 to say that we would sign Suarez and you all laughed at me. Before that I posted in May 2010 and said Joe Cole would opt for us over Spurs and again you laughed at me. I have also got many other transfer targets and signings correct. Maybe this time around you guys may take what I have to say slightly more serious.
Ins:
Higuain - £25m
Alonso - Cash plus Agger
Rodgers has great links with Real through Jose Mourinho and Higuian no longer fits in his plans and Alonso has refused a new contract after publically stating he'd like to end his top level career at Liverpool.
Gaston Ramirez
Clint Dempsey
Simon Kjaer
Daniel Sturridge
Adam Johnson

City willing to do business at £15m, Di Matteo doesn't rate Sturridge due to differences and attitude problems and is willing to listen to offers around £10m, Ramirez ahs been on the LFC radar for 2 years now and this summer we will follow through. Kjaer is Agger's defensive partner for Denmark, Agger has spoken of his love for Liverpool, Kjaer spent last season on loan at Roma and he declined moving permanently thus enabling us to swoop.

Outs
Agger - Real Madrid
Aquilani - Loan
Adam - West Ham/Wigan/Aston Villa/Fulham all sniffing round, maybe used as a make weight in Dempsey deal
Maxi - Newell Old Boys
Robinson - Loan
Shelvey - Loan
Sterling - Loan
Pacheco - Racing
Flanagan - Loan
Suso - Loan
Jones - Championship Clubs Looking
Doni - Back to Serie A
Wilson - no suitors

This is what should happen this summer if all goes to plan, Much depends on how squad impresses as the list of outrs could be added to with the likes of Spearing, Downing and Carroll

Strange that for someone with so much info and previous info there's no sign off for us to check the previous postings......

U got everything right yet you leave no name

FOOL

would be nice though

LTP The Red

So you're saying we are going to get rid of our two back up keepers and not bring any others in ? also with the possiblity of pepe wanting to force a move out ? who we gunna stick in the sticks caroll ?
also pretty sure sterling and suso cant go out on loan because of their age and with the other "outs" you have put we would only make about 15 mil if that whereas the ins roughly will come to about £90 mil.
clearly not going to have that kind of money to throw around.
i do think some of the ins are possible but all of them. not a chance. get a grip

You need to leave a name so that you can collect your praise for being correct (incredibly unlikely) or so we can identify your nonsense posts in the future.

Oh I'm the guy that said Morientes was coming before anyone else, knew Michael Owen was going first and told you all that Torres was going to Chelsea a week before it happened.

See how easy it is to say stuff^^^

You cant go out on loan if you're under the age of 18...

You say kjaer will come cos of Agger but you then say Agger is to Madrid. sorry i don't belive any of this.

I'm sure this is true!!
If it was, I, and i'm sure a lot of other LFC fans, would be very VERY happy.

Did you leave your name off in case Eds checked?

First 3 ins would be great but I wouldn't want to loose Agger, doubt we will sign that many players too would keep and play sterling and suso as there both class kids and sell Spearing, hes had his chance to show us what he's made of and its not good enough.

Three strikers - please; Sturridge, Dempsey, Higuain, that's plus Borini and Suarez - with Ramirez as well...?

Wow, I want to see your doctor, cause what your taking is...wild!!

Suffolk n'red

You immediately make a mockery of yourself by saying Sterling will go on loan when he isn't even old enough! And if you don't sign your post how is anyone supposed to know whether what you said before is true or not?

Hey BR didnt think you would ever post on the liverpool rumours page lol

Sterlingcantgoon loan as he is not 18 yet !!so thats the first bulls**t...higuain?? hahahhahhaahhahaahaha, even if he doesnt fit in mourinhos plan something i find also bulls**t...he wouldnt go to us! and we will sign ramirez, johnson and sturridge all playing inthe same position? grow up...stop confusing your cheating on fm as real life....

If this happens I will eat my own face. I hope to God it's true, but surely we'd need a huge budget let alone the wage fees?! Also, signing your name would have helped your cause mate. But ey, I wouldn't complain seeing that team sheet square up against United...

How can you prove or anybody check what you have said in the past unless you use a username?

MR EM

I hope you are right but I think we have to get rid of Spearing. Unless his fear of the ball fits with Brendan Rodgers that is.

So Agger has spoken of his love for liverpool to convince his National team mate to come and partner him at liverpool...... only to move to spain! Yup got me convinced!

Rozza

If you are right about these, I will personally come to your town and take you on a night out on me.

Tristan

Mate, I can't believe you spent the time to write this garbage. Whats your name?
Geez

You telling us you said that stuff and got it right doesn't make it anymore convincing unless you prove it.

Bongy

Very Torres-esq that Agger should claim his love of liverpool then jump ship

The season starts in a month, do you really think there's going to be as many changes as your making out? Dont be stupid, its just delluded, wishful thinking as per usual on here.

Ha, you are all wallys.... My name is Daniel and I go by the nickname of danlfc4eva - Ed's feel free to look it up. Higuain is a deal that has been in place for quite some time, as far back as December when the owners decided Kenny will be replaced, they have been waiting to see if the successor see's Higuain as a fit, BR does. £90m is a lot of money but money isn't hard to come by for our Owners, as I said, these 7 Ins are the possibilities if thats what BR wants, no one else is being looked at. To fund them all then Carroll, Downing and Spearing will also be sold, Carroll back to Newcastle for £20m, Downing £10m and Spearing £6m - add to that the confirmed departures of Doni £1m, Jones £0.5m, Pacheco and Maxi both £1m and Charlie Adam for £7m we will have recouped £42.5m - Meaning the Owners put in £50m, that has been the minimum for most summer spending spree's at L'Pool muppets..! As I said at the bottom of the post, If Carroll, Downing and Spearing shine in pre-season then Rodgers will not need Higuain and will not need Johnson. If they don't impress then they will need to be sold before replacements purchased. Knock it as much as you want but wait and see people.. Also, in terms of getting the Loanee's wrong, 5 youngsters will be sent out on loan this summer to further their careers and experience, we haven't got too many good youngsters that I see BR wanting to keep so I selected the obvious choices. Suso and Sterling are quality youngsters if yuo add to that Flanno, Robinson, Shelvey and you have your 5 so I guess if Suso and Sterling are too young then maybe Coady and Wisdom are the other 2

I see carroll is not on your list at all and i have from a source who works with brendan rogers brother that carroll will leave

To: danlfc4eva. What a load of Ballox. Shouldnt you be concentrating on learning your times tables now that your off school. Reality Red

The talk of Andy Carrol being sold is just rubbish. You can argue whether he's a good player or not but at the end of the day it's just bad as a business to sell him now (Still fairly young you must remember)

Loan is of course a realistic opportunity for him

Are we matching eye to eye on this Ed? {Ed002's Note -

11 Jul 2012 13:25:43
if someone will pay us 15 million for carroll we should take it and run! carroll is useless. everyone said he looked better near the end of the season, but better than useless is still horrible. he does not have the passing vision speed or finishing needed to be successful at liverpool. 15 million is more than i would ever dream we could get for him. take the 15 million and buy ramirez. sell adam downing cole and offer aqulani plus cash for jovetic. lets get liverpool back on track.

for Macca

I believe if he should sign, we should give borini a chance. He is still very young and has the potential to be a very good player. But I believe if carroll should go we need a player who can do the business now. A proven goalscorer has to be signed for me. Suarez and bellamy are set to miss out on the start of the season, and if carroll is to leave we cannot rely on borini to score the goals. he is simply not good enough yet. One thing I do like about borini is his attacking positioning. He seems to always be in the right place at the right time, which I think liverpool have been lacking for a number of years. I think a suarez/borini partnership could be very tasty for the future, but i hope we can get someone who has scored plenty of goals like soldado. cheers

Danny

Borini could be like rush,he can't beat players, works hard, has pace and finishes well

Is anyone worried that Borini maybe another Vernonin?

dublad

No, verslownin was older, less mobile and had a stupid ponytail slowing him down. This guy is young, quick and can be molded! No comparison.

Or another Andy Carroll?
We need an Ian Rush !

To be fair, Voronin was signed on a bosman whereas Borini will cost 8m.

Liverpool have finally lodged a bid for Gaston Ramirez. The figure being offered by Liverpool is £12m around 16 million euro which is a small bit short of what Bologna are looking for but we shall wait and see. Fabio Borini is considering an £8.4m switch to Anfield with rumours circling that the two clubs have already agreed on a fee. Alberto Aquilani wants out of Anfield and Rodgers is willing to let him leave for around £5m but no club has yet made an offer for the Italian. Andy Carroll could go out on loan to gain experience with West Ham,Fulham and Newcastle all interested however Carroll himself wants to stay at Anfield and fight for his place. Maxi Rodriguez,Joe Cole and Dani Pacheco are the most likely to be following Fabio Aurelio and Dirk Kuyt away from Anfield. Charlie Adam and Jay Spearing also have a lot to prove to Rodgers who is apparently considering a move for Victor Wanyama.

Oi oi eds and reds!
Ie:- xabi to return/ xabi ,agger swap plus cash deal,
Where did these story's come from?  Don't get me wrong I still love watchin xabi play and always knew he was gonna be one of the best passers in the game and was gutted to see him leave and as much as I would LOVE to see him return I really just can't see it, as he such an integral part of real's team,  why would they let such a consistant player , world cup/euro (x2) winner who helped them win the league over barca leave? I watch me fair share of la liga and xabi not only played but started pretty much all of their games last season and played the full 90 in a good few of them an all, I know mourinho buys and sells alot but he always keeps the heart of his team together and xabi seems to be the player that makes real and Spain's heart beat, again I would love to see this happen but I finding this story so hard to put any faith in, do any of the ed's agree or have anythin to help me put any faith in this story coming to be?,

How many players would be willing
Carroll ?
Downing ?
Aqua ?
Cole ?

Do any LFC regular posters even know who said that.

Hi Eds & Reds,

I just checked out Borini's profile that Ed022 did, great stuff as ever Ed022, much appreciated, perhaps Ed022 or any of the other Eds can answer a question for me, could Borini be compared to Chicharito, that type of player, bit of a mixed bag but he can score you goals?

Also I see Sly Sports are linking Andy Carroll with a loan move to West Ham, sounds like balderdash to me to be honest, well god I hope so

R_R {Ed022's Note - Yes you could make that comparisson mate, although I would say Borini does need to improve a little more before he is at Chicarito's level mind you - well, I mean Chicarito in his first season, not the second.}

How many of us were saying last season that this team cried out for a natural/clinical goalscorer?

The amount of chances we created and missed was unbelievable. I often thought that if you put Chicarito and Valencia in our team we would be guaranteed top four.

Hopefully this lad will fill this role. And if he is the player Rodgers referred to when he said the fans will love him, well if he scores goals then I'm sure we will. We have always loved a goalscorer.

JRG

Borini's movement is exactly like Chicarito's, however his finishing is no where near Chic's.

Ok guys let's be fair to the eds. We don't have to like them but stop putting words in their mouths. Ed 002 DID NOT SAY that we will not sign Ramirez. He said that we showed interest & a price was quoted but we passed it up at that time. I think it was 15m. Ed 002 said a bid has not been made for the player & Macca said the same thing.

- Borini- 8million
- Callejon- 7million

- Soldado- 25million
- Johnson- 14million
- Ramirez- 18million

11 Jul 2012 12:23:31
Ok here is my take on what BR is doing, firstly I have to say once you look at the bigger picture or think outside the box, as it were, it does look very good indeed.

Borini looks (and yes from youtube only) very very good; strong, determined and knows where the goal is. Young and for a reported 11m could be a steal.

Dempsey, well at first I thought 29 a bit old, but then when you think about the U.S market (which EPL clubs have been trying to tap into for quite a while) what better than to sign arguably their best player. I think Dempsey has a lot to offer, not only in the hole behind the striker, but also as a striker. No doubt as with most U.S players he is extremely physically fit and would add a key dimension to the squad that we are lacking. Suso no doubt will be Dempsey's replacement in time.

Carroll, I have been behind him since we signed him. That being said and finally Andy starting to show what he is capable of, I have noted one problem. Metal toughness, BR talked about this in his press conference and it does seem the beast can be tamed once the going get tough.

I think what BR is doing works twofold, firstly to install this mental toughness on somebody is hard (it has to come from within), so short term it may well be better to sell Big Andy. That being said it could also work in a sort of reverse psychology way. AC has heard the songs from his beloved toon fans (which must have hurt deeply) and the prospect of joining West Ham who arguably will be fighting at the bottom of the table would not seem that tempting to most.

I hope this awakens the fight and desire in AC to not fall over every time he gets fouled (which happens a lot) but instead attempts to fight and work even harder, in essence when the going gets tough you get tougher. No more arguing with the ref, complaining etc etc as this just seems to make him give up, work hard, pass and move and play for 90 mins like the beast we know he can be and no doubt he will not only stay at Liverpool but will become a top top striker.

Allen, most people I feel totally under rate him, really could provide that midfield energy going forward and lighten the load for Stevie. Final third was our problem last season imo, third man running and all that, not just the finishing.

Winger I still feel for me this is a must, we need wingers that run at people like Suarez then I feel we will slice teams apart.

Contracts…Jonjo, Suarez, Agger, Srktel would be amazing if we kept them all, I know people were saying I would drive X myself for that amount of money, but remember it's the relationships/partnerships that take time to forge. For me I would not change our defence at all for the time being.

So as it stands I feel I can see where we are heading and it looks extremely exciting!

One last thing have a look at Gotoku Sakai a two footed full back, I know he is on loan, but he looks like what we need for the future.

K79

Whys everyone upset with the Borrini signing? am quite excited he looks like a proper poacher (something we need).
Let me name some over unproven strikers.
Hernandez was unproven, Bemba Ba was unproven, Papa Cisse was unproven, remember Milan Baros? most strikers are unproven at a young age its a risk that can pay off, fom example
Henry and Anelka before moving to Arsenal unproven but turned out world class, lets give the lad a chance .
We did waste 35 million on Andy Carroll and now its time to put things right.

My god poor awl andy getting loads of abuse we didnt waste 35 on him we spent 75 or there abouts on him downing and henderson.now the point il make is this he scored in the semis against everton wen we looked like nothing was gonna happen.worth at least a mill that goal?then in the chelsea final he came off the bench shrugged off john terry over and over again and then buried the ball past chech and it looked like a golf ball after getting pinged by a telegraph pole now if it wasnt for that goal he got.. that night would have been alot worse he was starting to get a nack for popping up when we needed him.i hope he gets another chance.and if fsg let him off they better not talk about resale value because thats a direct contradiction off there apparent policies

Ba and Cisse both scored goals consistently in Germany before moving to the Premier League

RedSG

Cisse, 9 in 17 games his last season in Germany, Borini, 9 in 24, not vastly worse. Ba had 6 in 17 games, so Borini has a better rate in Italay than Ba had in Germany for the season before moving to the UK.

So your point is....

Some players score shedloads, look at half the imports from the Ducth League and then fall flat on their face in England.

It's about picking players to fit into a system, not just plucking "big" names or the latest flash in the pans. I'm sure BR and scouts are doing a bit more work than looking on You Tube as most people here do, trust them to do their job. I fpeople don;t want to and want to slag the team off before giving them a decent amount of time to prove themselves then I don't know why you bother supporting at all

Can somebody get our Brendan on the phone and tell him to give the big lad till Jan to see if works out if not then send him out the door, and too all the absolute idiots that have never seen this Italian lad kick a ball and are moaning how he doesn't excite them get a grip, if he signs and your a supporter try supporting him and the team it's easy just think ronseal that will help you remember;-)

Eds, first of all thanks for doing such a nice work...my question is with regards to Affelay....is it true that spurs and arsenal are both in front seat with regards to his signing??also the price quoted is 6 mil....shouldnt we be also intrested in the boy as he has loads of potential and the price is pretty cheap not to mention barca wants to offload him??

But Ed002 why can't we have a squad of 40-50 players you just have an anti-liverpool agenda :P,

I would just like to say I'm not botherd if we sign Borini! Infact I am not fussed who we sign at all! We all have our favourite players we would like to join the reds but fact of the matter is Brendan Rodgers is the guy who decides and we have to trust him and give him 100% support and same goes for anyone who pulls on that red jersey! All of the negativity from certain fans is really starting to annoy me and there is no need for it! We are LFC we stick together through good and bad times and don't need trolls on board! Please stop clogging up the news feed with pointless negative drivel and actually start supporting the club

Borini to sign on Friday

11 Jul 2012 12:03:34
Hi eds,
Just wondering if any of you ate familiar with Brisbane Roar in the Australian league? I believe their playing style to be the most similar i've seen to Brendan Rodgers Swansea. This system worked extremely well with small intelligent goal poachers in the form of Joan solorzano and in particular besart berisha. So perhaps the potential purchase of borini as a small forward option makes sense? Not too sure about his ability to hold up the ball which is often required in a system that keeps a lot of players behind the main striker? Would appreciate your thoughts! Cheers

Well if we need the ball held up surely andy c can do that to great affect especially since defenders tend to gravitate towards him because his presence

I'm a Brisbane Roar fan and their style is brilliant without needing a big front man, just a striker who knows how to find the back of the net. This style can definitely work as long as everyone in the team is committed. I have heard that in training no one is allowed to pass the ball above shoulder height.

personally if Caroll is sold or loaned out and we buy Dempsey and Boroni I would be happy. Suarez, Boroni and Dempsey front lines not to shabby for liverpool. Nevertheless, the key signing of the summer should be else where. one quality winger and midfielder.
Affellay, Ramirez, Jose Callejon, Granero are options.
if we can get two for these, it will be fantastic.
if we don't have money, one from these (Jose Callejon) and let Aquillani stay, I would still be happy and on fire for next season

-Boroni, Dempsey, Jose Callejon, Aquillani//
-Caroll (loan), maxi, cole and Spearing

miccmak

Are you mad carrol is far better than both these players and why would we loan carrol out.

11 Jul 2012 11:52:15
I think you can't really blame any of the players downing was worth 10 million at best carroll 20 mil hendo 12 mil it was commoli and no offense dalglish who made these signings you can't blame young players with such a great weight on their shoulders to handel that mentally.

btw just curious how many did we actually hit the frame of the goal this season ed's

thanks for reading

29 times we hit post/crossbar
24 goals scored

yet people still moan when we are linked to strikers.

Personally i don't get it.

Borini etc etc or whoever we may, or may not get would surely increase the number of goals in the squad.

Goals are generally what makes the difference.

hi eds just wondered what are the chances of Liverpool signing Theo Walcott? At the moment hes 3/1 favourite to sign for the reds?

11 Jul 2012 11:34:59
I actually cannot believe all the fans stating how good Carrol is, one fan even said he is one of our best players ?

How and what are you basing this on ?

He had 3-4 good performances last season and other than that he was absolutely awful.

Yes he is improving, but he is not the talisman Liverpool need, we need a goal scorer and someone with flair. IMO this is not carroll

I would snap someones hand off for a bid of 15-17.5m.

Fans who say they dont want dempsey are ridiculous, he was epic last season and dominated most performances in which he played. Hopefully he could emulate the signing of Mcallister.

Cannot wait for all the abuse i recieve for this post, however before you comment check your history of posts because i guarentee u slated Carroll. Even the god Macca did

LTP The Red

I agree. Its hard though as i support AC. But for 90% of the season he was utter dross. I would let him go for no less than 20m however.

Benny baller

Well i can safely say iv never ever slated andy carroll and always believed he would come good for us and at the end of last season he started to look like the player we bought from newcastle and i would be unhappy to see him go but if we was to get 25 million it would certainly remove the bitter taste iv left my name in case you want to check lol
giblet

Clint dempsey wins more airial balls than carroll and has a better all around game. he also shows up game in game out. i would have dempsey over carroll . ri red

The problem with letting Carroll go is a simple one. He will at least two moe years before coming to his prime.

But even at this early stage of his development, he is still better than what Giroud, Drogba and to an extent Gomez were at his age. Now, can we afford to lose a player who has the potential to become lethal as those three similiar players?
Suarez is at his prime, not Carroll .

Corvin

Original poster:suarez has flair carrol was bought injured and played injured made a big difference against braga but was the only one he only looked fit after christmas but was not used a whle lot and im sorry if you dont agree but he was great at the euros way better than rooney he was up to take the ball down and lay it off to great affect your statement was that of a fickle teenage fan although i woulnt say he is our best player but he undoubtedly deserves another go he is 23 he could fit rodgers style its pass and move not rocket science

Sorry Eds but I may have missed it, but when and where has Brendan Rogers said that he will allow Andy Carroll to go out on loan?

He said it to the Telegrath on Monday mate. I read it online, go have a look.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Sorry Blair he did not say that.... he said "that's something I would have to look at ..." in response to a question at his press conference. There was no exclusive as the Telegraph have suggested.... they go on to say we are contacted clubs to say he is available. This contradicts previous interviews where Rodgers states he will look at the players in training including Carroll. If we were to sell/loan Carroll now we have no strikers available for the Europa League bar Ngoo and Morgan!

Richards

Rodgers said loaning Carroll is something I would have to look at

Is what it says in the Telegraph, was it an exclusive interview, because nobody else has picked up on it other than quoting the Telegraph, and we know newspapers always tell the truth and are always right.

I think people are perhaps jumping the gun here a little bit. Rodgers hasn't actually come out and said that Carroll is available for loan. He merely alluded to the fact that if an enquiry was made, for any player, It's something I would have to look at, I have to be honest, Rodgers said. (Taken directly from The Telegraph article).
Sometimes a player going out on loan “ in general, not just Andy “ can benefit the club in the long term.' (Again from the article).

Another point I'd like to make, is that this is from The Telegraph. Hardly a bastion of correct and righteous journalism. I implore everyone of you to read the article. It was published in Mondays paper and is available on their website.

Here is one final quote from The Telegraph's article:
'Should Rodgers keep Carroll, it is likely he will be used as an impact substitute as he was by Roy Hodgson at the Euros, although the Scot has other priorities at the moment. '

Hey Macca,
Thanks for sharing your inside knowledge with us. I agree with giving new players a chance as nothing excites me more than finding exciting talent that seem to slip other teams radars. Newcastle seem to have to have a talent for it.
Too many over excited fans want big name, high wages, over inflated ego players for instant success! You all shout to give our youngsters a go, what's the difference in giving a promising youngster from another club a chance
Stevie j

11 Jul 2012 11:21:44
*BEEP* sake, why can't people just back the manager for once just because BR said an exciting player does not mean, its a player that's going to do a rainbow flick over two players and score a 40 yard screamer. To me, if Borini or even dempsey is the player to score 20 goals in a season that's exciting to me. I wish people stopped moaning, the worst part of it all it just seems to be a higher proportion of LFC "fans", BACK the Manager!
LFCALLDAY

Something like recobas first goal for inter. He's probably available and cheap haha

11 Jul 2012 11:13:29
I am puzzled! What has BR actually said about big Andy?, I think it would be stupid to get rid. Even if he isn't the main striker, what an option to have on the bench. If we were to be losing and chasing the game instead of your defender staying up to win every ball possible just bang on AC. Also say what you will about us being a small club (our own fans) but at the end of the day we are Liverpool fc and should still be getting world class players

11 Jul 2012 11:18:16
If think the LFC fans need to look at the current squad.
We have amazing players in our team from the back to the front.
The backbone of the team is Reina, Enrique, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Lucas, Gerrard and Suarez.
In my opinion these 8 players are as good as any team in the league.
The GK and back 4 are already in place.
Lucas and Gerrard to be holding midfielders (Same position Gerrard played for England).
Suarez will be 1 of 2 players playing off the striker.

So, all we need is an attacking midfielder, another player like Suarez and a striker.

Then in the squad we have players like Kelly, Carragher, Coates, Shelvey, Henderson, Downing, Cole, Aquilani, Adam, Carroll, Spearing, Maxi, Bellamy and Sterling.

LFC fans, our squad is not as bad as people make out. Have faith...

RedRocket

Absolutely agree.. infact i think henderson would be top class this season and a regular starter..we essentially need 3 first team signings & a couple of good squad players and we are ready to go & mount a serious top3 challenge..hopefully we would get rid of 4-5 players not performing and give the youngsters a chance..

I agree with this post, and it was only after the Arsenal game last year we fell to pieces.

We did actually dominate a lot of games last year, so combining those players with a better footballing philoshophy and a few signings will really push us on.

We finished so badly (due to confidence mainly) that people have written us off - I'm quite happy with that as there's no pressure on us.

JimmyHustle

Spot on... i was going to post a similar thing yesterday, then got busy at work!

some people on here are waaaaaayyy too hard on our players, they're not as bad as you think!

all things being equal - form, attitude, injuries - we actually have some real quality players.

if we are to play 433 as everyone goes on about (or 4-2-3-1 as it can transform into) we already have most players for most positions.

last season, in the majority of games (excluding both swansea games and spuds, city away if my memory serves me right) we were a match for all teams. we controlled possession in most but what let us down was the finishing.

yeah we were unfortunate with the post/crossbar but the fact remains, we were creating those chances. so the main area of concern for me is the need for a finisher/poacher in the owen/fowler mould.

so taking last seasons squad, add to it BR playing style and a 3-4 additions as he says in key areas we should in theory do well.

as i say, all things being equal, my 1st team from current squad would be:

reina;
Johnson, agger, skrtl, enrique;
stevie, lucas, aquilani;
cole,suarez,downing;

2nd team;

Doni:
kelly,coates,carra,robbo;
adam,hendo,shelvey;
maxi,carroll,bellers;

we can swap this guy for that etc but overall i still think a very good team. a the fella mentioned 8 are already selected so that just leaves 3 from the rest plus what we may buy.

i still think Cole is a quality player. KK let him go on loan as he felt that he wouldn't get game time as he'd brought in his own players and so did the decent thing by allowing him to go play somewhere (plus wage situation).
he's got a clean slate under Bren and seems to have the key ingredient - desire. with the style of footy BR plays, i think he'll flourish.

aquilani - well documented that he's never settled but no doubting his skill on the ball. when he had a run he did well and he's done well at juve and milan too. all depends if he's got the desire and attitude to saty and prove himself.

downing - on his day one of the best wingers in the country. his previous season at villa he was class and that's why he was bought. however it's all to with confidence and you could when see things just weren't going for him, he was getting deeper and deeper in self doubt.
i believe bren can sort this and use him like he did sinclair at swansea.

additions

many names thrown around but we do need a new striker.

Borini would be a good addition, won't cost that much and will be eager.

a AM and RW are also required.
Ba, affelay, AJohnson, ramirez, dempsey, dembele, muniain, walcott, moses are some of the names banded about and to be fair any of them would do the job.

personally i'd be happy with walcott, ramirez and muniain as they can all play in a variety of postions.

you the also have to trim the squad and that all depends on who comes in.

i think spearo has to be moved on (ok but not top level) poss adam and even big Andy.

overall i'm very excited by the future.
if Bren buys the right players and let's the right ones go, instills the same style as he did at swansea with a better group of players, i can see this season being very successful

onwards and upwards reds...YNWA sinner21

I hear what you say about a strong backbone being there but I would not include Enrique- he made some serious blunders last year and needs to concentrate more

True re enrique but remember it went downhill post xmas, as did the whole team..up until then he was great.
i put that down to being tired and losing confidence after making mistakes (like downing).

no denying he's good and having been tutored at la masia/barca, he'll do well under Bren.

my team with new additions would be:

reina:
johnson, agger, skrtl, enrique;
stevie, lucas, ramirez;
walcott, borini, suarez.

new additions would cost approx £30-40m based on numbers knocking around (r £14-16m, w £12-15m, B £7-10m). and there will some sales/releases too.

also! forgot to mention, if i could pick one player i would really like back in the team it'd be Alonso..what a player! might involve a player swap with agger, where we have cover.

put him DM and move lucas to left (he was AM before he came to us), ramirez LWF, suarez up top with borini on bench.

very do-able...

We need to keep Carroll, he has got better and better an this season he will shine... He's got a good touch an pass how will he not fit in? 433

I can't see him going yet. BR needs to have options up front. Some games you'll need a big target man and others not. Last year he had Danny Graham whose 6'1" so its not like he doesn't ever use a big guy. If AC shows himself to be committed then I think BR will give him a chance.
Geez

Well, he can only fit in 1 position, and that's at the point of the 3.

I can see why people are suggesting he may move on/loan etc as he is pretty ponderous and movement is pivotal in BR system.

I hope he doesn't leave but I can't say I'd be devastated if he moved on.

The point most people seem to be missing is that Rodgers is trying to sign players to fit into his system not changing a system to fit around the players. This is where Kenny didn't work out. Square pegs, round holes.

11 Jul 2012 10:58:11
The fact that now apparently West Ham want Andy Carroll on loan only reaffirms this whole thing to be complete tosh. Were is the sense in loaning out someone you have paid 35m for, who possesses attributes no other striker at the club, or anyone we have been linked with does, and who has been improving throughout the year. Only to replace him with someone untried at this level of English football (Borini). Suarez and Bellamy will be at the Olympics so he would be the only recognised striker available for pre-season. Besides, If he did struggle to adapt to life in Liverpool, how the hell is he gonna fair living in London, let alone Italy?

Lewis the Red

11 Jul 2012 10:57:40
Eds do you think the Carroll on loan to West Ham rumour has any legs ?
Personally I feel this would be one of the worst deals the club has done and believe me the club has done many. Why loan a ST when we are already short on strikers ? If the manager feels he doesn't belong to his system sell for whatever possible and re-invest on another ST. No point in a loan deal. {Ed002's Note - Preference will be to sell if the right offer is made. An alternative would be a loan.}

Loaning players has not served us so well lately

11 Jul 2012 10:56:42
I think the problem with discussing the Andy Carroll situation is totally overshadowed by the fee paid. I like him personally, but he just doesn't seem to fit. Not just with the proposed style that BR wants to encourage, but just generally as a Liverpool player. There's a pride issue with people not wanting egg on their faces having tried to support and defend him. We should let him go, it was a mistake. What's more stupid - loaning him out and hoping he has a productive season so we can recoup a chunk of the fee, or keeping hold of him so he sits on the bench and withers?

Square Red

11 Jul 2012 10:45:06
It does seem that Borini is contemplating a move to Liverpool according to his agent. However, this could potentially take time as discussions appear to be at a relatively early stage (I could be wrong!). This again raises the question of the player Rodgers was talking about during his press conference. The exciting player we will absolutely love is probably a player we have never even been linked with! The press and media are completely in the dark it seems...
Also, if Borini moves to Liverpool please, please give the lad a chance. He's a predator in the box and something this club has lacked for many years. Rodgers is doing a great job thus far and it seems the key players have bought into his philosaphy and seem keen to sign new contracts...he must be doing something right but of course he will utimately be judged on results! He reminds me of shankly....

11 Jul 2012 10:39:57
ed? we not gonna sign Ramirez coz we dont need really need a winger and rogers really likes sterling and he would fit into his plans so i think he will be starting next season.I would be very happy if we signed sturridge he's good young english player and he would make a good striking force with suarez.

Is this a statement, question or observation? Seriously I wish people could just think a little bit before typing.

11 Jul 2012 10:39:29
If Borini is this new exciting signing i will be extremely disappointed! we need a proven goalscorer not someone with a bit of potential

What we need to do is find players exactly like Borini. Relatively unknown therefore no big ego, wage or price tag. Do you think the Newcastle fans are complaining about their unproven players; Cisse, Cabaye, Ben Arfa.
Where did big money signings get us last season?
AK47

AK47

That is a very good point.

Last season everyone was asking why our scouts cannot find talent like the Newcastle scouts. Everyone was praising Newcastle for paying little money for the players you have mentioned.

Now, when we attempt to unearth hidden gems, we're being told they aren't good enough for Liverpool.

JRG

Totally agree, Borini and Dempsey are now looking likely. If this true? Then Rodgers is claiming one of these players is a really exciting signing. Your guess is a good a mine about which he is talking about. Is this Liverpool now? Chasing slightly better than average players. Are these the players for us to wet our pants over?

On top of this there is talk of Rodgers letting Carroll go on loan or sold for as low as £15m, WTF, that is madness, Carroll is showing progress, he deserves another year, Borini is not going to do any better that's for sure. Typical wasteful Liverpool, Lose a £35m striker for peanuts and any money made on him is spent on a player that just isn't any better.

Rodgers will be a huge let down as manger if these are his plans and this this will be another transfer window wasted, and it will back to drawing board by Christmas and everyone will be crying out for Liverpool to sign a top player but all we will get is another re-run of Liverpool's transfers folly's and more cheap junk signed.

That's the problem though, a good sub to use, he wants more football at his age, and he won't start for us every week.

Eds,

I'm getting the feeling that the general concensus regarding Caroll is that he will be sold as he does not "fit" into the style of play which BR utilises. However, in order to be a great manager, does BR not have to be flexible and work with the players he currently has and devise a new system which will us the strenghts of the current squad?
I believe Caroll has a lot of talent, we all saw that towards the end of last season. Although he is not the same style of striker as Danny Graham and shows that he is more likely to slow the game down rather than promote fast flowing tiki taka football, do you believe the system can be changed by BR to get the most out of Caroll and the rest of the current squad?
Cheers Eds, great job.
D16Red {Ed002's Note - If a player does not fit in the plans of a new manager then it is time to move on and to get someone in who does.}

I've been an Andy fan since day one and still dont want him to leave, but if BR has no use for him we must move him on... And everyone saying about the potential he showed towards end of last season, maybe thats why we should ship him out now maybe it adds a few more million on to the price tag... Personally hope he stays because he could be a beast, also if he rejects the idea himself that will help him with players fans and staff as it will show he wants to be at LFC

11 Jul 2012 10:13:54
When did the supporters of Liverpool Football Club become so segregated and isolated from the traditional values of the club?

It's been going on a while, I've thought of it in the past as perhaps supporters and fans ... people who continue to support the club nomatterwhat and those who only "support" when we win things... and usually complain when we don't (or sometimes even when we do).

However, things have noticeably got worse... for example you are now labelled a Rafa hater/ Rafa we trust depending on whether you believe he did a good or bad job. The issue is far more complex, he did good things and some bad things, in truth it was probably the right time for him to go, his stock was high, we were selling the club, etc etc. I supported, him like every LFC manager and we will always have those memories of Istanbul, Cardiff, and old Trafford but he's part of the past now... and we really need to look forward.

The same can be said of Daglish, I supported him and would have done if he had continued.... I thought that was the "Liverpool way" but apparently that is just "Blind Faith".... I can observe the shortcomings of the team and occasionally be critical if called for but this is usually only in certain circumstances. Why are we dividing our own supporters into different pockets... surely we all support the same team?

I see no value in getting on players/coaches/managers/owners backs because they are not acting as I would have done. I'm not suggesting you can't question certain decisions but ask some things are ridiculous... How can you slam a player who may or may not sign for us? How can certain players be pigeon-holed as useless or rubbish when they haven't barely been in the door? Wasn't PATIENCE and SUPPORT things that were synonymous with our supporters in the past? Those values seem to be dying... maybe that's why the atmosphere at Anfield has dropped, who knows....

What I do know is that for us to be successful going forward - be that Rodgers, Downing, Carroll, Borini or whomever it surely would be easier with a bastion of reds behind them? Maybe social media has changed that after all these Trolls attack everyone, but for me that's a too easy excuse... The vitriol aimed at certain players is astonishing. How Lucas stayed with us I don't know?!?

Hopefully Rodgers can unite all us supporters.... or the Ed's will be in meltdown after a few losses.

Richards

I am annoyed....newcastle and spurs seems to be linked with much better players than we are. I dont understand why, surely we are at the same level (or better than newcastle) our lack of ambition is very bad. The signings of carroll downing and even henderson have ruined our confidence in buying expensive players. Sorry Kenny this is your fault. surely people think this, but not many will say it. im not sayin the above 3 players are bad players, im just saying who ever decided they were worth the kinda money we bought them for has ruined it for us. We cant even get £15 mil for carroll now, i think £10mil is more realistic. Downing im afraid to say it, but he has more than halved in value. and henderson, i dont know, maybe he has halved in value too thats a loss of £45-50 mil. and thats not including anyone else wee bought. then the money we lost on the stadium etc etc .... Im not surprised the owners dont want to spend much money. Its time to give the youngsters a chance. Stop going on about Ozil, Higuaín, Ramírez, etc your livin in dream land. We should stick with carroll, rather than loaning him out or gettin £10-15 mil for him, give downing a chance theres no point sellin him we need wingers, and henderson, id keep him too hes lookin good an has plenty of time. there good players, but sunderland, villa, and newcastle seen us coming a mile off, they ripped us off massively!

I think we should be signin a few players with experience, such as keita from barca a great player in his last few seasons. we players who wont cost an arm an a leg, but have the quality to get us back in the top 4.

Why the hell you doom mongers even bother to post?
In January, you lot slated Jelavic and Cisse saying that they are not good enough and now its the same with borini. Jelavic and Cisse werent that bad, were they?

I don't care what anyone says about Carroll on this site. I would rather have him in my team then against me or playing for someone else. On his day he is a monster and can be unplayable. He needs time but he needs to stay with us with the europa and the other cups we have loads of games to play. People say we paid to much but aint that the club at fault not Carroll's. Besides how many of you would turn down the chance of a move to Liverpool. Carroll will only get better and i think he has a point to prove.

11 Jul 2012 09:42:30
maybe i might be wrong and so be it. but if you think this borini fellow is going to make a diffrents you are wrong. he is not the player we need. the facts are there to see. just look at his record it is not great. iam sorry to say this but br will not last. not with a player like this. we will lose what top players we have. i like br alot but to get us back at the top we need to aim for alot better players than this. even if we only went out and got to top players it would be better than this bloke. as for this carroll stuff. br is wrong for letting this already get out of hand this could cost him the dressing room. players dont like mangers that dont stand by every player even if there wanted or not. that is a fact. iam sorry i think we are going down the wrong route. i know alot of you will say we dont need fans like me but what alot of you need to understand is we have been down this route before. you need to think before you have a go.

I am looking at his record. 1 goal every 2 games. What more do you want?

I actually think you talk a lot of sense, signing Europa League players is only going to help you get to the Europa League, the fact of the matter is , Champions League comes from wise investments, no matter how large they are. Liverpool fans also need to remember that although their youth will inject some life into their squad, they will not be able to life them into the top 4 - be realistic or even optimistic, bit don't be delusional.

Torres didnt have a great goalscoring record before he joined us either

I am waiting for the moranic pack mentality to kick in. The next stupid comment will be "In Brendan we Trust" it is ridiculous if Bonnie Langford was made manager would it be "In Bonnie we trust" ? Let the man do his job and see how he does. Right now I think we should support him but really the mindless blind trust comments are just silly

Tompy to sign 3 year deal from west ham, you heard it here first

11 Jul 2012 09:27:16
Andy Carroll to West Ham or AC Milan on loan? Don't believe a word of it, why would we send him on loan (unless we bought 2 other strikers). If he doesn't fit into BR plans then we would want to sell him, sending him on loan would only benefit the club getting him. He was picking up some good form which he carried into the Euros, so sending him on loan would not be because he needs form it would be because he doesnt fit the style. I just don't think it makes sense at all, thoughts ed?

op6 {Ed002's Note - I am sure the club would rather sell him but that would require an acceptable offer to be made by someone.}

I hope he costs too much for anyone as I want the lad to stay.

Just to add a little balance amongst all the whining little b*tches crying about us not signing superstars. Personally I find it reassuring that the club is no longer signing players on long deals with crazy salaries. We are starting to operate within our means again and the long term future of this club is far more important to me than the short term.

People who don't feel the same need to wind their neck in and remember where we were 2 years ago. I'd love to see the likes of Aguero etc here but not at the risk of putting the club in trouble again.

We have signed an impressive coach who is fully aware of the stature of our club and where we need to be. He is also aware of what he has to work with and any possible constraints regarding new signings, which none of us can claim to understand better than BR... Regardless of how 'clued up' any of us like to think we are. He is familiar with his system and he knows what is required to make it function, so I for one will back his signings to get us back in that top 4.

Maybe then we can sign these 'big name' players so many of you crave...? Just remember Rodgers wants the same things we all do: The best team, playing the best football winning the biggest competitions. But it will take time to get us there and you all should give BR the courtesy of giving him some time and lots of support. It's what we used to pride ourselves on....

I like how BR talks positively about our current squad. less talk about targets, but keeps on saying that he has a good squad to look at before looking outside.

Kaizer

I like how he will look to the youth too.

Something along the lines of "if you're good enough to play, you'll play. Regardless of your age"

Hopefully a lot more of Suso and Sterling this season :)

I think the point is been missed here with Borrini, it is not about backing the lad, 3 days ago we would all have said this could be a good signing. The problem all comes from the poor press conference by BR, and in particular 2 points.
When asked about Carrol he should have just said Andy will be dealt with exactly the same as every other player in the squad, and then we will make our decisions based on what ever is best for the Team, nobody will be given special treatment it is a clean slate for everyone. Hopefully that is what he meant.
Unfortunately that is not how it came across, it sounded like Andy all ready has no future at the club, and if that's wrong then they should sorted it out quickly as Andy's confidence would have been high after the last couple of months and now has probably been knocked right down again.
Secondly, we are going to sign a player that we will find exciting and love? Now he may mean prove to be exciting and we will come to love, but again this is not how it came over. It has raised expectations, the fans are now expecting an already established star signing, and if BR means Borrini that is putting a hell of a lot of pressure on the young Lad even before he has signed.
It has been easy for BR up to now he has been able to turn out Shankly sayings with a modern twist, which got all (well the majority of) fans on side, but for the first time when dealing with specifics he has found that unlike at Swansea, the smallest little points, possibly just slip ups in grammar, are pounced upon by the worlds press and fans.
Hopefully a lesson learnt before a ball is kicked, but then again he may have mean exactly what he said and Andy is not going to be given a chance ( which seems unfair ), and he see's Borrini as the type of player we will all be excited about signing.
One things for sure, the end of the week is getting closer and we play in 10 days time, so were about to get some answers one way or the other.
RNred

You need to get your facts straight he never said anything about an 'exciting' signing during the press conference! If that statement is to be believed it was said off the record to the journo's.

BR is not the only 1 who thinks andy carroll is`nt good enough. Why keep him if u have no faith in him? Need to back BR let him unfold his master plan and give him time before judging him.

I completely agree, Rodgers need to learn his lesson from this and improve, because the last thing he needs is unrest in the squad before the season even starts.

Did I hear right RNred... Did you just say BR had a "POOR" Press Conference? Did you ACTUALLY SAY THAT? Seriously, where you asleep at the time and having a nightmare, because his Press Conference was anything BUT poor. I've a funny feeling Mr Rodgers could run rings around you with his grammar and football superlatives, but, then again, I think my 4 year old could teach YOU a thing or two about grammar AND manners... You are either narrow minded and niave, or just plane stupid. I, along with the majority of TRUE Liverpool supporters are right behind the new manager. Oh, and Carroll, along with EVERY SINGLE PLAYER at the club SHOULD be looking over their shoulder as not ONE of them deserve the right to play unless they are 110% commited to the club, and remember, NOT ONE PLAYER, OR THE MANAGER is bigger than Liverpool FC. If Carroll doesnt fit into Brendan Rodgers style of play... TOUGH LUCK... Now, go and read a copy of War and Peace and teach yourself the meaning of savility.

Stevie.

how can Carroll show he is 110% committed if he is not given a chance with this new style of playing?

Ian Ayre has been in Barcelona 3 times in the past week.

Make of that what you will. I personally think it'll be to try and do a deal regarding either Tello or Afellay.

I'm going twice in the next 3 weeks....... Honest!

Make of that what you will.......

Hey ed's.. Do you know if the likes of Borini or maybe Dempsey will sign before we head of to America? Just asking because many papers are stating just that? Cheers, good work as always, Scouserseb {Ed049's Note - I believe Borini will be signed before we head off to America.}

11 Jul 2012 10:03:52
Borini? Really? Young, unproven, could not break into the Chelsea team so why are we buying him? Im not against buying a young striker as back up but if we let Andy go then we need a proven striker. Kuyt has gone, Bellers is getting on and wont play that much which leaves Suarez!! I will always follow the reds and back whoever is in charge or plays but I feel we are in for another average season. We have to all admit we are no longer classed as a top 4 team and wont be for a long time yet!!!!

Rossi could not break into the UTD team but he flourished as did Pique. Just because a player does nor progress at that particular age does not mean they won't at another club.

Why?, other teams buy unproven players and end up doing very well.

So OP, your bagging Borini because he couldnt break into the Chelseas team when he was 17/18? Shows what an ill informed muppet you are!

11 Jul 2012 10:02:21
The first priority for BR is to sign a hub for his passing system to sit in the middle of the park. The catalyst for how the team plays.

This is who the so called 'exciting' signing will be. A deep lying midfielder who will dictate the way we play. Someone like Xabi Alonso. If not the man himself, maybe Javi Martinez (who will have been sold LFC by Alonso and Pepe).

I have a good feeling it will be a great signing anyway. Watch this space. The undoubted number 1 priority for BR is a worldclass deep lying midfielder (the quarterback).

Red G

LUCAS LEIVA! He is more than a tackling machine you know.. His decision making (of his passes) is second to none..

any truth in the carroll to west ham rumours, think it would be a mistake personally but if hes not gonna play then he isnt going to get better sittin on the bench!

what ya think eds? {Ed002's Note - I think the club would sell if an acceptable bid is made.}

11 Jul 2012 09:52:22
I haven't posted here before but thought I'd post a couple of titbits I know to be true.

The club's issue with Carroll is twofold:
BR basically does not see a role for Carroll in the fluid style he intends the team to adopt.
BR wants an overloaded midfield, with fluidity of movement, and apparently believes AC is too easy to mark, and too slow to participate in counter attacking moves.

FSG have a MAJOR issue with how long it took for Carroll to gain match fitness, a subject to which no-one was able to provide a satisfactory answer.

Unfortunately the Dempsey rumours are true, he is a serious target.

nb) I have also heard but cant says it fact yet is a willingness to listen to reasonable offers for Downing.

11 jul 2012 09:50:09
to macca, in response to your 'support borini, and all you want is ramirez' post.....
....listen, im sure borini isnt a bad player, but the reason why everyone wants ramirez, is simply because we need a winger more than any other position. br only plays one up front in his formation he talks about, and we already have bellas, carroll, and luis. he plays with two wingers, we have downing...hmmm maxi erm then we have to start dragging players out of position to play them there. we need a winger most of all, surely this is obvious. (ps i appreciate your posts, i just want you to know why the fans want ramirez more than borini) ;)

Ramirez isn't really a winger either as he is more of a creative midfielder.

Fans want Ramirez because he looks better then Borini on YouTube.i will trust BR and back which ever player he signs. Zaydan123

The old fashioned inconsistent winger waiting on the touchline for the ball to be cleared out of defence chasing it to by-line and crossing in to a burly centre forward who meets the ball square on with his forehead and bursts the net and just for good measure bundles the goalkeeper in to net as well! Don't you just love football from the fifties? Unfortunately the game has moved on and old fashioned wingers and centre forwards like Downing and Carroll are too easy to play against for modern day coaches and their defensive formations. Ramirez is not really a winger by the way and what a waste of a good player it would telling him to get the ball into Carroll wtf.:(:(

I watched Ramirez on YouTube- maybe I watched the wrong selection but his "highlights" weren't that high.

I would'nt mind if we sold Carroll, im not a massive fan. He does have qualities but i think we could buy 1or2 much better players than him if we cashed in and cut our losses, lets face it he'll never be worth 35mil again, lucky to get half that. Makes sense if west ham want him as he would suit big sams style, not sure if loan is the right thing to do myself but i will say this, if AC wasnt a LFC player right now, how many of you would be screaming "sign AC"? If we keep him then ill back him but i cant see him being anything more than a squad player and his fee+wages suggest he should be a starter.

Wouldn't mind that myself.if carrol doesn't fit into brenden"as you say" rodgers plans then wouldn't it be better to loan him out to west ham who aren't gonna challenge the top six teams but if he come good would at least add to his value because at the moment your not lookin at gettin half what we paid for him.just look at it as a shop window sellin your wears.

Lads,

Have a very solid source with direct link into the corridors of power within Anfield. I work in one of the top 4 professional services firms and have witnessed this first hand.

Alonso is coming back. Announcement very shortly probably within the next few days.

Also, a big signing is days away - a statement of intent that will rock the football world.

Keep watching and thank me later.

Deggers.

I hope your right but i just dont think it is going to happen.

Soz Deggars lad, Alonso has stated that he is happy at Real Madrid & has no intention of leaving them.

Alonso's thought process:
I am playing in the first team of one the elite/competitive teams in the world.
I live and play in my sunny homeland.
I am on high wages.
You know what? F*** it. Why don't I take a wage drop to play for a lesser team in the rain. Yeah sounds good.
Davey Liver

Judging by BR's press conferences so far I don't think he is one to be carried away and planning to rock the footballing world as you put it.

People think they can enrage me if they say I spend time in this page despite being a manc showing how big LFC is. But you can't anger me like that man. Am I the only person who thinks that Rodgers is thick. He wants to loan carrol, a player who is finally came good for us and replace him with an awful player borini and he is also going to try and buy Dempsey who decent but at 29 he isn't getting any younger. If I'm honest Dempseys not a great player either.

I doubt how the thick one is. dont believe everything written by the press. they have papers to sell and making up a story each day is part of their job

Has it ever occured to you? that by telling the World you are prepared to loan out a player like Carroll you are invitng interest and possibly bids from one or more factions. Carroll will be sold and not loaned.
Rodgers is being quite clever methinks.

Hi eds. Is it true that rodgers said a potential sighning will excite fans and we will love him if true do u think borini is that player?? King kenny {Ed002's Note - I did not hear the interview but Borini is certainly a player being wooed by Liverpool.}

11 Jul 2012 08:49:24
A philosphical question for ED002 if he is around.

You see a lot of posts everyday about the financial muscle of clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City and now you can add clubs like Anzhi, Palermo and PSG to the list. A lot of people resort to calling them names like " A rich man's playthings" etc. Most of them are fans of clubs like liverpool, arsenal etc. who don't have such owners capable of pumping money in to the club.

You have been pretty ruthless in your answers to these posts. Saying that football is pretty much a business and you have no option but to suck it up and move on.

Now the questions.

1. Is it actually good for football? There is artificial inflation in player wages, transfer fess because of this.

2. Is it actually a business? A business is a business if it is profitable or actually moving towards being profitable. I don't see it here.

3. How do you see clubs like liverpool, arsenal etc. competing in the future with far less investment?

4. Are we heading for a mini-football-economic crisis. If this goes on?

Appreciate your answer, Ed002 {Ed002's Note - (1) With the exception of Anzhi who have rejected the entire FFP concept it is the target of all clubs to reduce spending to a sensible level. This summer will see a lot spent by the likes of Chelsea and Juventus who need to rebuild, PSG and Malaga who have struggled with their "new project" and Palermo who are starting a new project. Manchester City will likely have lower net spend as they are now unloading the likes of Bridge, Adebayor, Tevez etc.. The over valuation of players dates way back and is really nothing to do with what has happened in recent years. (2) It is business and it is big business. I have seen the latest estimate of the additional income that Chelsea will potentially be getting through winning the Champions League and it is a pretty astonishing number. Turnover of many of the more major sides makes it very big business as well. But like much of the world many sides are suffering the financial down turn associated with a recession. This is particularly true on the Iberian peninsula and will result in lower transfer activity this summer. I was in Swansea yester and Villarreal's Jonathan de Guzman signing on loan is an example of how Spanish clubs are looking to ride out the issues associated with less income - be it through relegation or whatever. (3) It is managed growth of the club that is important not spending money on transient employees. Arsenal have been doing just fine - I don't know how many consecutive Champions League entries they have but it is plenty. Liverpool made significant investments and changed many of teh playing staff last year and they failed to gel. Those results together with the "other matter" cost the manager his job. Now is a chance to look forward again. Everton spend near zip net each year but often do well. Newcastle has shown that £5M players can perform together as well as £20M players. It is not entirely about money. (4) Football is already suffering from an economic crisis and this is one of the reasons why the authorities want the FFP rules introduced.}

Thanks a lot ED002. A Brilliant reply. Has cleared a lot of things.

Sunny ( Forgot to sign the last time)

Eds please answer me this, what would the benefit and in all honesty the point of allowing Carroll to go on loan to W.Ham or anyone for that point, ok wages looked after but we are then 1 striker down and this arrangement does not provide us with any capital as opposed to a transfer fee to replace him with. If we keep on hearing we don't have large amounts of money, how can anyone expect us to buy another striker when our most expensive is on loan. Therefor if he returns from any proposed loan we would have more strikers and our wage bill would then be back up again. can you enlighten (hopefully you will agree with me and tell me its all a big load of you know what).

Also on the rumour from don't be surprised if Rodgers goes for Rory Donnelly who he took to Swansea from my club in Belfast Cliftonville. (who LFC under Kenny were interested in)

Phil. {Ed002's Note - If he does not fit in with the plans of the manager then it makes sense to ship him out.}

Does make sense if he is indeed not in the plans, but a loan deal does not make sense, there are no guarantees they turn into sales, look at the Aquilani fiasco. Surely a sale would be priority, Loan should be ruled out of hand. £35million of transfer equity in limbo where we cannot use any of it (although his value wont be that currently)

Your talking like Andy will take a loan, he may say screw you and throw in a transfer request. Then where will we be, with both him and Aquilani not wanting to play with us? Dont tell me we can afford to write that sort of money off. This is looking like a really stupid way to go.

If Borini signs why don't all the so called fans give him a chance.. Have they every really seen him play?

You all want Ramirez,, is he really that good?

I would love to see the response to this post..

Cheers

Macca
{Ed016's Note - Real Macca.}

Borini will be a welcome addition to the squad.

I think whether its right or wrong liverpool have enjoyed the skill and flair on show with suarez and would like some more.

I think both of these players are young and exciting with great potential. Would hopefully score more goals and get some pace in the team.
Jrsoakley23

If Borini comes, then we will support him. We will give time for Brendan to succeed.
I just wish that owners do spend some money on quality signings.
My question is why don't we go for Muniain or young players of that calibre. Borini may fit into that category but Dempsey?

Really hope we do well this coming season..

Never seen Borini play but I will have as much hope for him as I do for anyone that signs for us. Rodgers knows him well and I have more faith in him as a manager than I've felt for any Liverpool manager in many, many years.

Seen Ramirez a few times and he looks quite the prospect.

Personally, I'd be delighted to have either.

I can't wait for the season to get going!

Tristan

I've seen borini play while at Swansea and the boy is good, we have to remember that Rodgers wants players in who can play his style of football and he's one..it's about time we give Rodgers a chance to do his job and not keep questioning everything he does..

The doctor

Ahh Macca dont tar us all with the one brush. I want Cavani.

I would 100% support borini or whoever BR signs, if he thinks they can be part of his plans, then I am sure they're good enough

I dont know anything about Borini. I think he could be a great signing. He have played in both England and Italy with sucsess. Now its time for him to take the next step.

Ramirez looks good at Youtube. But so does Macca...:)

I would give the lad a chance, we really don't have a striker like him in our team so could be ideal for the way the manager wants to play. I actually watched a lot of Ramirez last season after us first being linked with him and personally I think he does blow hot and cold but if Rodgers wants an attacking 3 (4-3-3) then a forward line consisting of Suarez,Borini and Ramirez would be quite effective as all three have different styles of play and Ramirez can play in that position and formation.

Well said macca. ive not seen either, i just trust what the club are doing. i hadnt really seen suarez but look how he turned out. andy

Agreed. His goal scoring record speaks for itself. Brendan has obviously seen enough of him to be confident it will work. He is exactly what we need. We haven't had a poacher in the Fowler mould in a long long time. Borini be a bag full of tricks but he'll get goals and goals win games

I'd like to think that fans give all players a chance, regardless of their initial thoughts.

Internet forums are not a good yard-stick of actual fan feedback.

YES, ramirez REALLY is that good, especialy if you compare him to anyone else we have. I personaly would welcome borini, he looks like the kind of poacher, finisher we were crying out for last season. Macca do you have any info on any other signings or the carrol loan rumours, thanks as always for your input

mellor

As far as i'm concerned, BR is best managerial appointment made buy the club in along , long time.
This is just my humble opinion, whether you agree with me or not, we should all back him and his signing/sales all the way.
We all know the words to our anthem, maybe we should thinking about the meaning of those lyrics.

Markolfc

Excellent post Macca. Hit the nail on the head. Most of the us readers and posters are desperate for success with our beloved LFC. We have to believe that FSG made the correct choice, (if given time I think they are right, brendan will change lfc's football on the pitch). We have to allow him to make his signings.. He knows this guy from two different clubs, knows his ethic (unlike greedy sig from all accounts, not motivated by £ notes).
You have to remember we would all love to pull on that shirt but not everyone see it like us. We need people like us, who care for the shirt, give everything for the shirt, the way of life that Brendan talks about in his interview...
Come on, give them all time, with the two north london clubs being in the same boat as us, we can do 4th..........
Not saying in brendan we trust but LFC we trust...

Trix

Totally Agree Macca, give the lad a chance and why people would love Ramirez is because he has a name for himself already so peple would go for the safe bet, but Borini is still young and i hope that when we get him he proves the "so called Supporters" wrong {Ed049's Note - My Chelsea mates tell me he has the potential to become a very good player.}

Great post Macca, I always thought Ramirez was overrated why don't we give this lad a chance?

I've never seen either player, but we are crying out for a decent striker and some creativity. I'd be happy with either or both. Also think the fans may be getting Rodgers words wrong. He said we were going to get someone the fans will love. Doesn't mean a big name... but someone the fans will grow to love. I honestly don't think we need big names. The likes of Hyppia, Didi, Alonso etc were not big names when we signed them. The big names have either buggered off (Torres, Mascherano) or become embroiled in controversy (Suarez). I think Borini could prove to be a really shrewd purchase.

Aje

I agree all these fans seem so patient with Carroll saying "he will come good" etc. when the truth is if he was a top player he would have performed for a majority of last season not just "showed promise" in a few of the closing games when most teams had nothing to play for. However in the case of borini it is likely we will get him on relatively small wages and for around £10m and if things don't actually work out thee is likely to always be an Italian team willing to buy him for around £5m as he is rated highly there

Yep, Ramirez really is that good, but Borini will also likely develop into a great player too. Would love to see both at the club but it looks like Borini and Dempsey first, then Ramirez after the tour if it happens. It's not going to be one or the other between Borini and Ramirez anyway. Agree with the sentiment though - one new player, no mater who it is, isn't going to change things. tbh, i reckon we have most of what we need anyway. All BR will be looking at is competition for Enrique and better attacking options. Keep posting Macca, always good to hear from you. And ignore the transfer-window-lickers!

I agree with you Macca! Just look at how well Cisse did at Newcastle this season, and he was basically unheard of by most people at the time!! I'm sure Borini will pay off for us!! YNWA
The Bear

I agree, yes I'm not overly excited by borini, but if he signs I'll support him. Maybe he's exactly what we need, a finisher and some one with the nack of being in the right place at the right time, finishing chances we created last season.
I also have a question for macca about the previous interest in muniain. Does macca still think there is interest because that EOULD be an exciting signing.

I feel what your sayin there Mac attack! Give the lad a chance, hes a young lad with massive bags of potential, Ed002 has said himself that when he was at Chelsea he was held in high regard! Negative fans moanin because hes not cavani or messi, get a grip get behind BR, rant over.

Muller

BR need to walk a tight line between buying players with potential and relatively cheap and buying proven yet youngish players to improve the team.

No doubt Borini will improve the squad but will he improve the team?

Hey macca,
I'm a real fan.. I totally understand what u are saying in regards to Borini, I think we all are jst sceptical after watching the club waste a lot of money last year on the you know who's. Borini if he comes in will come with everything to prove. I guess we were all jst hoping to have a proven player come in and transfer his form from previous into his time in a warrior lfc shirt..regardless whenever players walk across the line onto the grass wearing the lfc shirt I will cheer them on but look at downing and Adam.. They never made the grade last year and the other two didn't either but they have the excuse of youth being on their side. I too doubt gaston Ramirez as there is not enough info about him to be honest..people get carried away knowing he is south American..and forget we have sterling and suso who can both play that role.. I hope they do get some first team action this year. Thanks for ur posts macca.

Half the fans are willing to give him a chance Macca like myself, however it is the fans who only think spending 30million on hulk, cavani, Llorente who will make a diffence! When in fact our best signing last summer was possibly Enrique for less than 10mil and Utd signed Hernadez for 7 million who looks a real bargain now and his resale value would be 20mil +!

Personally I am looking forward to seeing the way we play under BR as I think his sides play very good football and I believe he is a good judge of talent in the case of Gylfi Sigurdsson and I like the way he refused to get into a bidding war or pay higher wages, stuck to his guns and looked else where!

Also I think some of the comments on here aren't Liverpool fans, because they post articles of the sun or ask will Owen come back :S A true liverpool fan wouldn't do either!

Keep up the good work, Big Mike

I can't see how people can complain if he signs. In his first season from 26 apps he scored 10 goals and earned a call up to the Italian national team.

Too many players get shot down by fans before they sign. Borini and Dempsey are the main examples. Not saying we are after Dempsey but if he signed and his form was the same as last season, he'd be a great signing.

Players deserve a chance.

JAnder.

Macca, how sure ( in percent) are you that Borini will sign?

Are u suggesting this is our exciting singing

Lfc need a goal scorer. Dnt think borini's record suggests dat he s a very good goal scorer and also hes nt dat skillful like suarez

Quite simply macca most football fans are the most fickle of any sport. The boo's torres gets would all disappear if he re-signed. The treatement of Lucas was a joke and now everyone loves him. If borini signs I wish him all the best and hope he gives all these 'fans' something to think about!

Totally agree with u macca, so called fans not happy with borini, give him a chance, everyone hated lucas at first and look how gud he is now and the team really missed his last season, so give the lad a chance and get behind the team n manager instead of moaning all the time!!!!!!

What about givin andy Carroll a chance. I hoppe BR don't sell him, mybe come Xmas BR may not be at lfc

Lets be honest unless you watch a lot of Italian football no one will know a great deal about Borini but BR does have worked with him. So I agree we should give him every chance to succeed. However I am concerned that Carroll will go if Borini comes in as I believe AC was starting to show some form last year and he should stay. BR worked with a big number 9 in Danny Graham last year so surely AC could fit into BRs new system

I think the problem is macca, is that fans are tired of average signings, not working out, in our recent history, we have given support to them, only for them to come up short, its only big name signings that seem to be able to step up to the plate...

We tend to spend 6 million and get an average player but if we had spent 10 we would of got a bigger name, we seem to go for the cheaper option in most price ranges, or go for the lesser name...ie, if we do get borini for whatever price (u can gurantee, there will be someone of a bigger name who we could of had, but didn't get for whatever reason)

It's not that the fans are fickle (some are worse than others, granted) but I think fans are tired of being let down by the same situation and ultimately all they want is the best for the club...

Cheers

Ray

Borini has everything in house to be great. Superb movement on and off the ball, nose for goal, composed finisher, excellent game intelligence. I don't have a doubt in my mind that he will be a top player for is and I think he is more than ready to wear the no.9 short.

Ramirez, is for me rough around the edges, less so than Borini. Needs work and development, but excellent at beating his man (you should everything about this know Steve), great energy and pace, strong lad, creative, final ball needs work though. Great player to help the team penetrate.

Enough !? :-) YNWA mate !

Hi Macca,

Just wanted to say a big thankyou for all the info you've provided.

I actually think borini would be a good signing for liverpool, I'm not a deluded fan who thinks we can attract world class players without champions league, and a natural finisher who plays on the last shoulders of defenders is exactly what we need and have missed since torres left.

Although on the other hand, I would love to get gaston ramirez as well, and he is a player who can make things happen out of nothing, much like suarez.

I've got a feeling rodgers is going to come out and sign a player no one expected, although borini would be a good signing in my opinion, I can't see him being the 'exciting' player rodgers mentioned 'who the fans will love'

Andy

While I personally don't know much about the lad the videos on YouTube would suggest the kid has a real eye for goal and I'd welcome his addition to the squad with open arms. However if this supposed comment that Rodgers said is true about us getting an "exciting player", I wouldn't consider borini to be such a signing!

Irishkopite

I'd take em both but I'm still secretly hoping Coates Suarez and Ramirez are becoming like best buds having lat night sleep overs at this Olympic thing so he comes to pool {Ed049's Note - haha}

I believe everybody will. As you should know, football fans are the most fickle supporters around. To be fair, I am always 100% behind the people who run our club, but can understand a little why people vent when we don't appear to be signingng the calibre of players Chelsea, man city etc are.

A very valuable comment tho, just wish people would take note

They won't give him a chance, most of the people that post on here are pre pubescent boys, that haven't got a clue

Siggle

I agree that we shud at least give him a chance but you must understand Macca that many of us were surprised to see that Borini would be the so called exciting sig ing BR was talking bout because much of us had higher expectations.

Yes I have seen him Macca,
Very impressed, classy and confident player who plays above his years. A very good buy for the present and future.

Evered

Rodgers knows the system he wants to play an what players will suit that system quick players what we lacked last season we could pass up to the final third but players to slow for counter attack hope rodgers makes the difference an yes I do think Ramirez would be a great signing just what we need

Ramirez is a fantastic player and has the potential to be a star. Borini is average and carrol is a far better player.

They both play diff position so y cant v have both
vivek12011

I agree Macca. I havent seen much of him to judge but you have to give the kid a chance. Looking at his record it seems impressive and could be a real bargain.

Cheers

Adrian

I have disagreed with Macca in the past but this post is spot on I have many Serie A fans who rated Borini as a bigger talent than Ramirez...all these are talking rubbish because he wasn't given a chance at Chelsea

Yes have been watching him since his Chelsea days and very excited and have equally watched Ramirez who fails to convince me that he has enough about him to really excel in the way the majority assume he will

thanks as always

Jamie

Fully agree Macca. Most of us on here do not have enough experience of both players to.judge them. From what I hear Borini is a decent front man who leads the line well. Although Ramirez is good you do.have to ask 'if hes that good why isnt the price £25-30m as opposed to 16?'. Lets just see what happens and back whiever comes in.

Anfield Andy

I totally agree with you Macca. All of us true supports have to now put the faith we had in Kenny into BR and give him and his team, whoever they may be a chance.

Only seen borini a couple of times and he seemed to me to be a real poacher type player like Owen. Always in the right place at the right time and IMO the type of player we've been crying out for since Owen left. The amount of times I said why was no one there to get that loose ball last season was unreal. If we can make the same amount of chances as we did last season I honestly believe he could be top scorer in the league. As regards to Ramirez I believe he is a wonderful talent. At the end of the day I trust the owners and Rodgers and I am really looking forward to next season whoever we buy.

Eric the red

Many fans are excited at seeing Borini at the club, it's just that the fristrated ones are those who write in such sites.

As of Ramirez, he is probably a tad overrated, but he probably has potential. HE would be a good addition, but at 15 mln, not 20.

Cheers Macca, don't be frustrated - this is just the normal summer non-sense routine :>

Drigan

Different players and we could use both to be honest

we have carrroll and suarez so signing a younger poacher striker is a great idea , someone who wont automatically expect first team football, lets face it we couldnt sign a huge name striker unless carroll is definately off

Macca mate i totally agree. All this we need household name bull. Who was Christiano before united, Xabi before LFC, Van Peirse befor AFC.. I really cant wait to see the exciting line up for BR's first season. The futures bright the futures lfc.

Quigz23

Carroll has to stay even if Borini arrives.. We will have more options up front, otherwise we will become too predictable and one dimensional in attack. BR also needs to bring in Allen and Ramirez to help play the Liverpool way as he say's himself not "tiki taka".

RobJ

To be honest mate I couldn't agree more, most fans have only seen like 5 minute videos of these players. You can make anyone look good in them. Trust the facts and stats. Borini IF he signs will be good. Think we will be a shock to our own fans next season, Rodgers is ticking all the boxes do far, for me.
Cheers mate
Shaun.I guess we were looking for some comfort Macca that our signings & new management are going to improve the team. Borini is largely unheard off and unproven and I cannot help wondering why we are gambling on him. Ok if he is a squad player but we have loads of aquad players.

Pompey Red

I agree with macca. the problem we have had as Liverpool fans(and I'm talking ancient history now) is that we have never lived up to that status in the premiership, maybe its time to give new maybe less unknown players, like Shankley and Paisley and even god forbid Ferguson have done, a chance to turn this club around. We have all seen millions splashed at the club to get us nothing in return, maybe this is going to be the way forward.

Borini scored 14 in 8 games for Chelsea reserves, 6 in 9 games for Swansea and 10 in 20 for Roma.....Im more then prepared to give the guy a chance mate.

CovRed

As a fan of Liverpool macca we have to trust are manager no point if we don't if he thinks borini or any other player can improve the team we all have to get behind him every player we sign has to b givin the chance it's up to the players to prove to us fans there good enough so let's let them get on with it.
Rigg10 Wexford red

Weather it be Borini,Ramirez or who ever we sign i will back them. All i ask is that the player gives 100% when they pull on the red jersey. And no i havent seen either player in action but i do trust BR,cheer's Macca...YNWA!! -

I Macca agree with you on the Borini side. Us real fans will always back our players, managers and backroom staff. I think Borini would be a fantastic addition, as long as it is not a replacement for Big Andy.

Ramirez I have only seen bits and bobs and other people in the game I have spoken to have raved about him. I think he could be a good sigining, I do think people need to actually watch someone play a few times to actually make sweeping statements like "We have to sign Ramirez he is amazing" which is what a lot of people seem to be saying on here.

Most people look good on YouTube and you can make anyone look fantastic with clips.

I back you Macca, you and the EDs do a fantastic job and people should get off your backs, you are only trying to help us true fans out with our nerves and desperation to know who is coming to our glorious club.

JonBoy6
YNWA JFT96

PS I hope the rumours about Big Andy are rubbish as he can hold up the ball and make a good pass, thats how BR plays. {Ed002's Note - You are spot on macca. It seams like liverpool fans getting worst every year. We need to unite and get behind the team for god's sake and stop moaning
Great job ed's & macca
Cheers guys

Just one question, is Borini the signing that all Liverpool fans will find very exciting. If this is the one Brendon was talking about may I suggest, it may be missing the mark slightly.

It heartens me to see the responses to Macca.....at last we can see that we do have some positive and realistic fans that actually support the club.
Well said Macca mate, you speak good sense. Lets all get behind our team whoever they are.
KJS

We did poor last year because signings were not good enough and what makes you think borini is any better.

Well said macca , i will back whoever comes to the club cos i am a true supporter im loving whats going on at the club at the moment br appointment etc ,we spent alot of money last summer where did it get us for around 10 mill borini being a young player is not a risk if things dont work out if all these big name players these posters want read this site and see how some of the fans slag the players and owners and everyone at the club they wouldnt want to come to us anyway , get behind the club then we might get somewhere , thx macca and eds for your info and a great site.....steve

Oh my god macca wake up borini are u for real over ramerez have u seen them play come on we all no who weed want and it wouldnt be the chelsea reject or a player roma dont want how can rogers even consider him exciting tell u wat for everyones sake take him back to swansea with yourself were u belong exciting my big behind wat is this club coming to i ll tell ya mid to bottom of the table and wat happen to the owners will spend big wat on dempsey borini big spending that is or my gog i want to comit suicide

I dont know why people are shooting down Borini as it looks like he will replace Kuyt in the squad. Anybody who has seen AS Roma play cannot fault him for work ethic. He chases down balls and also helps with defence. His goal scoring ability is put into question. But, he has a very decent return of goals per game which if calculated over 38 games is more than 15 goals. Now I think it is very good for a 21 year old.

As for people saying Dempsey is too old to spend money on, last season another 29 year old player was instrumental in the bid to acquire a CL place for a team whom everybody wrote off.
Now, if we spend say around 15-20 mil for these two players and they help us to qualify for CL, it would bring around 30 mil extra money at the very least and other positives.

Like all other fans, I would be delighted if we signed players like Kuba, Ramirez etc. but we would also need players like Borini who wont mind to sit out a few games. Because if we sign a big name striker, it would mean Carroll will leave as he wont be prepared to spend another season on the Bench.

Corvin

I will support any player who wears the red of our gr8 club but at the same time everyone has there own personal opinion on who they would like to c at the club my choice of the 2 is still ramirez.
YNWAmanc

Borini and Dempsey would be good additions to the squad, with Kuyt gone and rumours persisting about Bellamy and Maxi potentially leaving.

I do think we need to sign another creative player to ease the burden of Suarez and Gerrard, and a Ramirez type would be a fantastic addition, as would Moussa Dembele for me! He seems to have so much time on the ball and looks a very good player, who I think only has a year left on his contract, so could be available at a very good price.

RedSG

To YNWAmanc

I completely understand your opinion and I am a big fan of Ramirez too.

I think people are forgetting that Borini is a striker and Ramirez can still join our club.

For me a realistic summer would be Ramirez, Dempsey/Kuba, Borini and Allen, with Adam and Aquilani leaving.

Corvin

Hes goals per game are almost the same as ngog! maybe we should of kept him, was fast skillful scored goals and was young! why did we sell him! cause fans got on his back and gave him bad confidance! same will happen with all young players! sorry but some supporters are killing our youth, if a young player trys something but fails we should applaud it, look at some of the kids we have had and lost!

Rodgers will be buying Borini to be on the pitch scoring goals not on the bench? What's that all about. We need a goalscorer so he will be in the team!
If we didn't pay over £20 mil your just a squad player wtf!

i believe that the new exciting signing has to be a past player such as alonso or a player young or well known throught the footballing world thats why idont blieve players such as borini and dempsey or this exciting signing

11 Jul 2012 08:42:54
Morning Ed's and Red's.
Liverpool will sign Jose Callejon from Real Madrid.
Joe Allen will sign from Swansea despite the agreement made between the clubs over Rodgers buying Swansea players.
Last but not least Fabio Borini will join from Roma.
These 3 should be completed by the end of this week and will be joining the squad for the USA tour.

11 Jul 2012 08:40:49
I think if we signed Ramirez, Borini and Dempsey it would be a successful window. So long as we keep Carroll, that would mean Borini as back up and both Ramirez and Dempsey can play as the attacking mid or right wing. We would be a much bigger threat going forward and hopefully would bag a few more goals.
KiwiRed

Dempsey is too old as I think affellay or susaeta would be better options. We could also try for Munian.

Rodgers wont be buying Borini to sit on the bench watching Carroll falling over.
He''ll be straight in the side with a front 3 of Suarez,Ramirez and Borini giving us a 60 goals a season strike force.

If Borini signs,is there any chance Lfc try to get Sturiedge too?? Wolfred {Ed002's Note - As I have said, there has been no approach to Chelsea about Sturridge but if an acceptable offer were made the club would not stand in his way if he wished to leave.}

Is it really all true about Carroll going on loan to AC Milan or West Ham ? If so, that decision would be absolutely appalling and not to mention a f*****g JOKE!

The lad is 23 years of old, one of the best players in the whole squad and if we start loaning out players at this age and this quality then what does the future hold!

Cheers.

maybe somebody could clear up this whole Fabio Borini story please...........

Roma have just bought him so why would they then want to sell him to us? Also when he signed for Roma permanently there was apparent interest from LFC also. Borini stating after that he didnt even think about joining LFC. so why has this all suddenly changed?

Perhaps you could shed some light on this please eds?

i'm not sure borini is the player were after, even though Roma suggest we are. {Ed002's Note - It has been explained - please read the other posts.}

A question...........
If Ramirez was called Smith would you all still be bothered about him?......Im saying not..........
Nobody on here has hardly seen him kick a ball yet he is perceived as the new messiah.........Nobody seems to be knocking doors down to sign him do they?.......

As for half the other transfer rumours...well I know were in a twitter generation now but seriously!...If we cant all see by now that they just arent leaking any news out anymore due to doing things behind closed doors then were all goin mental!........

We ALL asked for a return to the old ways when H&G were at the helm but now we expect constant updates and streams of transfer targets flooding out the club, Its not gonna happen..........

Have some Faith and leave the man to get on with his job...IF BR dosnt work out and its down to not being able to sign whoever he likes then im sure he'll let us all know once hes been fired........

An optimistic Guv 81-9 YNWA JFT96

Ramirez is one of the best young players in the world. This is like the mata downing debate last year and we know how that turned out.

Macca - I for one like the look of Borini (fox in the box) kind of striker. as for Ramirez - intelligent attacking player, better than half the rubbish we currently have!

I have a questions Eds.
You have all said how their is more traffic, good and bad on Liverpool site than any other. Why do you think that is? I was asking myself the same question and imagine alot of it has to do with the fact we have such a rich history which has no doubt declined over the years. Do you think thats all it?

Would really appreciate your and anyone elses comments

gareth {Ed002's Note - I suspect much of it is socially based.}

11 Jul 2012 05:57:52
Hey eds, i just wanted to ask, why do we have to play qualifiers for the Europa League? I have seen previously on this website that because Chelsea won the Champions League, we take their place in the group stage as runners up of the FA Cup?

Is this not the case?

Thanks
Gavino {Ed002's Note - UEFA said that qualification through the League Cup took precedence.}

10 Jul 2012 23:05:48
Just thought i'd ask Eds.
If their is a gentlemans agreemant not to touch swansea players, i presume then nothing was set in stone and if this is case would we technically be able to swap player for player if both partiens happy?
I assume so but thought i'd ask as not sure is anything was written on legal document making this impossible?

gareth {Ed002's Note - I don't know but if there is Liverpool would honour it.}

I read the posts every day but have never posted before, but I was disgusted to see the abuse ED02 received from one person earlier today (and there were many more that were probably removed). I appreciate all the work the ED's do for us and they do have better inside knowledge than most of us on here and the lazy journo's who spout anything to sell their rags. As a life-long supporter I will always support BR and the team. He has to be given time to build the team in his vision and that may mean no "marquee" signings, but a group of players that play for eachother and produce winning, attractive football. ED's, in the words of the Dalai Lama, "trolls are the Devils droplets". Thanks for all the hard work!
PS I may have misquoted the Lama, but you get the sentiment

Then and only then will I draw any conclusionn or form any opinions!.
Anything else, I would just be fooling myself!.

Borini for Liverpool, I can accept, young player limited Premier League experience but has potential, not overly happy with Carroll now linked with West Ham. Surely we must command some sort of fee for Carroll for a season on loan. Eds would we command a fee for a loan or just let them cover his wages if he leaves and also have to add Borini's agent is not ideal for my liking speaking in public about the fact he is considering us. Well advice to Borini if you have to consider joining LFC then don't bother signing. Providing this is true of course and if it isn't change your agent.

11 Jul 2012 04:02:59
I must say that I was one of the few who had heard of Borini prior to Liverpool showing interest as I used him on my Serie A team on FUT12 and began to see more of the player on Fox Soccer Channel in the states and I have rated him as a tidy young player with the skill set to become a world class goalscorer. Lets not forget how young this kid is and how good he looked for Roma this year. I am absolutely looking forward to seeing him in a Liverpool kit next season and think everyone complaining will have to eat crow come January.

RyanWhittington&hiscat

From what I've seen of Borini - my impressions are that he has good movement, sharp bursts of acceleration and is a good finisher - no-nonsense and composed - he hits the corners of the net when shooting. He does his best work hanging on defenders' shoulders and sniffing out chances around the six-yard box. A real 'fox in the box'.

From what I've read about him he is held in high regard by a lot of his past coaches and has an excellent attitude.

He could be a Romario, Villa, Inzaghi or Aguero in the making - but his linkup play could do with work. (as could Villa's tbh. but no-one really notices when he hits the back of the net with such regularity, do they?)

He could be excellent (if we get him) - Give the lad a chance - he's one of the brightest young striking prospects in European football for gods sakes! His strike record is also very good, almost 1 in 2.

In Serie A they love the art of defending - 10 in 26 (I think - off the top of my head) is a great goalscoring record for a young player in that league, particularly as he apparently missed a portion of it through injury. Not many 20-year olds score that many in Serie A.

Guys of great goalscoring pedigree like Ian Rush, Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry (different times, different players I know) will attest to that.

BJH YNWA (He could prove a real bargain - I hope we sign him)

Roma are trying so hard to keep him. Have you noticed that.

@'Roma are trying so hard to keep him'.

Clubs make bad decisions. Maybe the coach doesn't rate him, maybe they have financial reasons to sell? It doesn't make him a bad player.

They may well regret it if he leaves.

The Real Reason why John Henry Bought Liverpool football club

John Henry controls $15 billion in global Commodity Trading Advisory assets in the states for his clients and his market share has been declining over the years. London adds $40 billion CTA assets that could be up for grabs. So for his firm to attract new money he would have to raise his profile in the UK and show people here that he is a winner.

Im guessing that buying LFC has meant he has to start winning very soon. People need to know who he is and how they can make money with him.

Sorry but this is complete nonsense. You need a better understanding of how world markets work... Liverpool as a standalone business would not impact on Commodity trading.

Off camera, Rodgers said Liverpool fans would find one potential new player 'incredibly exciting' - 'they'll love him' - BBC, Ben Smith.

I think we all too eager to jump the gun and speculate who's coming, but what's the key word? 'POTENTIAL'. It means the deal is far from done, and Rodgers never said this potential new player will be joining the squad for the US tour, only hopeful that 1 or 2 deals (Dempsey or Borini) to be completed before they leave. I believe the prospect of this 'incredibly exciting' player signing for us is still very much in the balance. Singred

We'll be banging in the goals next season!

Good job Andy! I hope he does reject a move away, permanent or on loan. I have total faith in him and he will be immense next season!!

Sorry to rule this out guys but I did a little research on the whole Alonso thing!
Seems he wants to win the champions league with real madrid next year and has stated he doesn't want to move anywhere just yet... Maybe next year!
As for the Fernando Torres rumour you can just forget it many reds wont want him back and the owners deffinatly wont sooo not a chance there either!
But Borini looks promissing, helps that he and Rodgers have met etc..
Oh and i might aswell say congrats to Shelvey although i want to see more before i start creating songs for him

The exciting signing Brendan Rodgers has spoken about is not Alonso, A. Johnson, Sturridge or Ramirez. It is in fact a certain Mr. Torres. Done the Liverpool way (media last to know). He feels let done by Chelski and wants to return home. This WILL HAPPEN!

Mate you should post your name cos if your right your the new macca

gareth

Done the Liverpool way? This is a Chelsea player we're talking about. If there was any contact with Chelsea in regard to any player every red top rag in London would know about it.

Liverpool are now operating a "behind closed door policy" however Chelsea have less class than a tuebrook crack hoar

I think the number of times 'disagree' has been pressed says it all.

So he's going to halve his wages aswell is he

I hope Carroll stays. People saying he doesn't fit the style but my point is look how useful Llorente is in a 'tiki taka' system. I we could coach him into that type of player he would be perfect. Also he would be very useful in the PL when away pitches are crap and passing games wont work.

Gh*Lfc

Some good points. On a personal note, Llorente is the one player that I would love to see in the Premier League, preferably at Liverpool. I find him to be one of the finest all round players that I have seen in over forty years of following the game and he would light up the Premier League. I think that he is a fine example for Big Andy to try to emulate and even if he only has half the talent of Llorente, this would still make him a very good player. Hopefully, he will remain in Brendan Rogers's long-term plans and go on to prove himself.

Why don't we take a note from the Italian clubs books, try before you buy and loan some players? Kjaer, Gago, Elia, Pato, etc.. could all be options.

11 Jul 2012 00:50:51
Lads whats all the panic about. 10 days in with a new manager, trying his best to assess the team and we have so called fans looking for a "top" signing?. While im sad to see kenny go i will give my future support to br and lfc. and put my faith in who ever they decide they bring in.
In my opinion I don't think remaries is going to happen. borini most probably will.even if i don't think thats what br is taking about when he says a player we will be excited about. I think allen would be a good addition but do we need another atm in a already congested midfield. me id keep faith in the boys with 2 or 3 additions and the right game plan we should do alright.

this is just my opinion guys, i cant see BR losing the big AC as i think he will play a large part in next season. just because BR wants to use tika taka doesnt mean it will wrk or even be used every game. managers dont use the same game plan week in week out so we will need a player like AC for other styles of play! if it dont wrk out then nxt summer, yeah, he would go maybe but for now, im hope he stays. this applies to nearly every LFC player though! i think he'll keep most players due to cash flow and just add a few and remove some old deadwood. with what we got plus some new faces plus a more focused COLE, i cant wait! YNWA

JIM

Look at barca in the CL Final. I bet they wish they had a big man up top because tiki taka wasn't working. My point is AC brings us something differant, he brings options. Start Carroll against the teams that park the bus.

It's not that we don't like borini he's just not what I personally would class as exciting yet maybe his potential is but currently he's not tearing down trees

10 goals in 21 games in Italy, promoted to the Italian team at 21,
Not bad in my book

What does the word marquee mean?

> A rooflike projection over the entrance to a theater, hotel, or other building.

> Leading; preeminent: "a marquee player".

adj.
Being an athlete of exceptional skill and popularity: The team is hoping to sign a marquee player.
[French marquise, marquise, marquee; see marquise.]

Has it always meant that? who did that french fog change the word forever?

Evening Ed's & fellow Reds. I'd like to bring an element of serenity to the proceedings. I have been reading all of the conflicting posts for along time but I have ultimately come to the conclusion that there is sweet FA we can do to influence the near future but support BR and his team. I for one am not sure about Borini but I trust BR to make the right decisions. We are not the manager, he is! He will make the signings that he thinks will improve our team and complement the way he wants us to play. Who are we to judge the ability of certain players if we do not completely understand how he wants the team to play? I feel we are judging players on the current standard of play and how we have performed recently. None of us are completely satisfied with the recent form of the team but I feel we are not a million miles away from being competitive. KK got us back on track (my absolute idol by the way) but I that journey/chapter has come to an end now. We must move on with the attitude that we will never compete with the Sugar Daddies but a team is a team not a group of individuals. If Borini repays BR's faith if signed then he can bite his hand in celebration as much as he likes, I don't care. What we do need to do is trust in BR because actually we can't do jack sh*t about it anyway. Through the storm so the song dictates! By the the way Ed's I hope I speak for the majority especially those who have followed you guys for years when it was only Ed 001 that you are absolutely bloody brilliant and my day would not be the same without you guys so keep your peckers up as August 31st is getting nearer.
Cornish Red {Ed049's Note - Post of the Day.}

It's called 'having a memory' - and I'm not sure Dalglish did get is on the right track - wasn't it our worst league finish ? This season is pivotal and so are the signings, if you look at the fixtures i can honestly see Rodgers being gone by November. I pray I'm wrong but I certainly won't be told not to think! This is not post of the day ed.

As a Lfc see fan since i was 5 seeing, rush, Barnes , Beardsley players of skill and passion for the team and game They wanted to play in the Liverpool shirt and in front of the Kop And the city of Liverpool. Now you have greedy players. Players more worried about how much they get each week talking rubbish on twitter.we need to get back to the days were no player is bigger then the club. I know this is old school but that's why I supported LFc

At present I'm kind of worried In what Direction we are going in. Some people say trust FSG , but why did we pay 35m for Carroll, with the sale of Torres was it to appease the fans ? Certainly did not do anything for me. They Should have taken our time maybe waited till the summer, maybe used one of our up and comming players. If we did not give Gerrad a chance at the time from youth level would we have seen a great captain he is now ? Also may i ask what is happening to our scouting system as well ? Sorry for the rant but we are slowly getting ripped apart by FSG. They are Business men lets hope the don't turn into H&g , but sadly I can see this happening. But let's give BR full support for the comming season who ever we sign or not

From Dan H

Come on Dan H, if they hadn't acted to immediatey replace Torres the fans would have gone nuts. And don't blame FSG for picking AC for 35ml, that was Comolii & Kenny's call.

Im sorry for this rant edds but im seriously worried and disillusioned with the players were being associated with. I am sick and tired of us always going for second rate players. We seem to spend a hell of allot of money on mediocre players. There are allot of good players out there but I don't understand why we're not making any moves to sign them. There seems to be a complete lack of vision and direction at our club. Were talking about loaning out a £35m player to bring in the likes of demsey and borini!?? While other clubs are moving forward and making positive signings we seem to be waiting for the market to finish so we can pick up the scraps. Im shocked at FSG we were lead to believe these people were not your typical American owners but 'sports people'. These guys have bought the club on the cheap and have invested next to nothing on players in terms of net spend and they expect champions league football! I was actually looking forward to this season and had high hopes for BR especially when we were being associated with exciting realistic targets  like ramirez, adam johnson, affelay, jovetic and even moses!....but all of a sudden we seem to have lowered our sights massively. If BR thinks were going to get excited by borini then all I'm saying is its gona be another painful season! I'm off to bed well depressed maybe when I wake up we will have signed Ramirez and this will all have been a bad dream!

11 Jul 2012 00:11:09
Dempsey, good player, only linked because he's American.
Ramirez, again, only linked because he's Uruguayan and we've scouted him.
Borini, something in it. As our editors love to say 'use the search function'.
Walcott and Sturridge both linked because they're young and English. Both won't sign.
Allen, linked because he was probably Swansea's best player last season. Macca says he's a target... I'm not convinced.

Conclusion - Borini will come in and any other player linked is just speculation for the time being.

Also, this 'exciting signing' business is total nonsense. I'm sure we'll make one 'big' signing but it's not going to be Kaka, it's not going to be Alonso, it's not going to be anyone of the calibre of Higuain. It hurts but it's true and deep down you know it. However, it seems possible that someone from the Brazilian league will come in and that could be the 'big' signing. We aren't in the Champions League so don't expect Champions League calibre players. Think about it, you are, for instance, Fernando Llorente... why would you be tempted to Liverpool? It's basically a move sideways at present. We're not going to get a Torres, we have to sign someone who could develop into a player like him.

Finally, a lot of people have been criticising the link with Borini... How much did Jelavic and Ciise cost? Wouldn't you have taken them in January in hindsight? Of course you would.

RSG8

Jelavic isn't great plus I always thought cisse was a top player and scored a bagful of goals in a poor Freiburg side.

According to Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri

"While no reply comes from Liverpool,Bologna received first bid for Ramirez from Napoli:10m € +2minor players(value 3m€-Fideleff and Donadel)"

I don't think that this deal will be acceptable. I think we should at least make a bid. who knows, maybe throw in Aquilani. What do you guys think?

10 Jul 2012 23:58:13
firstly, i wish everyone would shut up with all this edison cavani this, xabi alonso that, B*ll sh1t because we all know that it is not going to happen- we are no longer good enough to attract these players, nor can we afford them, eeither the fee or the wages.
however, i am still behind the team and hopeful of a third or fourth next season behind both manc clubs. we dont need to make too many signings to be competitive for a CL spot. primarily we must keep hold of suarez (which i am told we will do) and our back 5 (there is a slightly bigger concern here, primarily for skrtel, who may have his head turned by money). i am also pleased to report (as i am a fan of him and i believe he will definitely develop) the Carroll loan rumour is total and utter rubbish. people jumped from one conclusion to the next after rodgres interview, which actually complimented him. anyway, i promise, and stick my neck out on this more thaan anything else, Carroll will still be in a liverpool jersey come september 1st.
Then we must add a few good players. these will be Clint Dempsey (to be confirmed by friday), Borini (eds i can confirm this is NOT just a rumour and he will be unveiled as the 'star' 'exciting signing' before next monday). After the american tour the focus will very much be on signing a winger before the first PL game- there is still some disagreement between the people i talk to as to which winger is currently the most likely but i believe that currently Theo Walcott (not exactly my cup of tea but at least he offers some pace) is very much of interest to liverpool as arsenal have decided with young oxlade-chamberain he is no longer a vital player to them and they will accept a bid of around £11.5mil which liverpool are considering the other two wingers who we are seriously considering are Tello and Granero. the interest in krasic has ended due to a total inability in 2 discussions to reach anywhere near a fee arrangement.
Other than this there will be no other signings that will cost a significant amount, as these three are first team players and any additonal signings will just be squad players unless Skrtel goes in which case a possible replacement will be considered. However, as the eds have said, although there is not a large amount of money the owners have not set a precise transfer budget as they will just cater for these three transfers, and then any further transfers must be funded by sales.
With all this in mind, i am hopefull for next sesaon as the squad would look much more balanced with a quality winger, a goal-getting midfielder and another option up front who does know where the goal is.
sorry about the length but i wanted to tell you everything i knew, and my opinions and support of our club. what are your thoughts? eds, any opinions?

Can everyone just wait and see, before getting on BR's back. If we sign Borini for 8-10 million then good, (Babel was 10m and all you guys harp on about is how we should have got Rafa back instead of BR)
If we get Dempsey for 7m, then great, infact a bloody bargain, ready made at his peak, and was superb against us last season.
Thats still only 17m at max spent. Macca confirmed earlier as did other that there is no set budget for transfer, if and thats IF a big name becomes available and not being sold at a over inflated price BR will be supported to sign that player.

Personally, I think the above will be coming plus another 2, another Winger and a LB

Eds have we be linked to any LB or Right wingers.

Cheers Redphil

You all want Ramirez,, is he really that good??

I would love to see the response to this post..

Macca {Ed049's Note - Real Macca.}

Thank god, someone else posting positive stuff. Thanks macca but wont do any good lol. In about 6 hours there will be the usual rubbish about how un-exciting Baroni and dempsey are
gareth

For me, Borini looks a good fit for the team, he certainly looks to be better than what we have already so I don't understand all the hate directed at him. Also, Rodgers has worked with him before, so potentially he could hit the ground running. We are trying to create a 'team' surely, a group of talented players who form a tight knit group, in order to become hard to beat and to become a powerful attacking force. Modern football (and it's fans) are too hung up on superstars, and on 'marquee' signings. The fans need to get behind Rodgers, because I genuinely feel he will turn us around, and we need to get behind the players, whoever they are, because if we don't, it will be our fault that we fail.

The captain

Borini is not exactly top class, tell me why roma do not want to keep him after just signing him?? Ramirez is definately a good player who can become world class very soon. RedTurk

I think Ramirez is good enough....but i'm not bothered with the Borini signing, i think it would be good business if Carrol and Suarez stays at the club

Macca - why don't the so called fans give BR a chance?
The critics of BR and the players we are allegedly linked with are all the best managers, and it seems they are all financial geniuses, also criticising FSG.
Real fans will trust in his signings whoever they may be. I'm not a doom and gloom merchant we have had 22 years of mediocrity, in some way due to not playing the game the Liverpool way, even with the trophies won with Houllier, the football played most of the time was dire.
Hopefully BR can change that, the big names we've had haven't, so let's give him a chance.

I'd be happy if borino came looks good but it wouldn't be a signing that would excite me. I wish Buck never said it it raises expectations. As for Ramirez blame YouTube though in the clips I've seen he falls over a lot. Suso looks better.
The hat.

Of course the fans would give borini a chance but we need more than just potential up forward we need a proven goalscorer that will bang in 20 goals a season. i dont see borini doing this or andy although i do think he is an asset to the team and can offer a different dimension when the pass and move footballs not working. Higuain would be my ideal signing im sure we could get a bid of 20mill accepted . {Ed002's Note - The price on Higuain in January was 48M euros.}

I personally have seen neither play but if we signed them I would support them. I still like Downing, Carroll, and Henderson very much and then they could really do well for the team as well as a few new signings. I will love and support Liverpool till the day I die and if on that day we are in the lowest division in the country I will still be proud to support the greatest team, Liverpool.

Red Rat

The way I look at it is that alot of fans already don't trust BR, he is a very intelligent man who knows a good player, he worked with Borini twice before I would welcome him because of that. I think people on here are copying others and just assuming he is a terrible player, he is a young player with lots of potential I can't see why we don't want to give him a chance it's sad. Borini is considering leaving his native country again just to play for Liverpool, he has shown respect to us can we not show respect to him and give him a chance along with our other signings!? Stop comparing him to FIFA and FM and watch him in real life.

Square tomato

Hi Macca Evered here,
Yes I have watched Borini play a couple of times for swansea a couple of seasons back. First impression was I thought he was in his mid to late twenties, very mature and cool on the ball, secondly he was very a bit of a class act and shone out on the pitch, very good at set pieces, probably one of the main reasons Swansea got promoted.
I didn't realise he was so young, a very good prospect in my opinion and I for one would be pleased to see him at Liverpool.
When you consider the money we have spent on so called forwards, Babbel, Kean, Crouch, Ngog, Voronin over the past years I think he is a good b to make it a success.
Believe in Rodgers I say and get behind him. Borini could be a little Gem.

Evered

I suspect I know as much about both of them as the majority. That is, I have probably seen them play but I can't remember it. No surprise there as I don't watch much Italian football.

There will certainly be some fans who watch a lot of Italian football and will have seen both a few times.

Almost nobody will know them as well as the players we already have at the club.

From my position of ignorance, I can neither be particularly excited nor disappointed about them possibly joining.

Sadly, some people take ignorance as a basis for making up whatever they wish to think.

Travellingmike

See you are trying this 'common sense' thing, not very popular on this site mate.
Borini may well turn out to be a more than excellent player and I hope he does. We need back up/options in the scoring department. Gaston appears to have the potential/reputation to take himself into to the worlds elite and seems to be very flexible. Both would be very welcome in my opinion. Although it seems Gaston R deal was never happening. So we should deal with it and move on. :)
Thanks again Macca/Eds
Davey Liver

I think the only the only mistake, if you can call it that, the BR made was saying it will be an 'exciting signing for the fans.' This automatically gets people thinking of more of a box office signing e.g. Jovetic, Higuain etc (unrealistic I know!). I think it's just the perception that was put out there...
From a personal point of view, whoever BR signs I will back. He is our Manager, he has a vision of the way he wants us to play and he knows the types of players that will fit that system. Borini is young, bags of potential and an Italian International at 21....sounds like good business to me!

I don't know if the rumours about Demsey are true or not, but I do know that last season I hated him.

I hated him when we played them at craven cottage becos he was agro and in our players faces and onto the ref, he backed down from no one, you could see how much the drubbing we gave them the season before hurt him still, he was their best player and he hurt us.

When you play yourself there is always a player on another team you hate, the one who is stuck in every conflict, every argument, ,,,,, but if that player is on your team he's loved, a leader of your team....perhaps we need players like that

Eds, based on what Rodgers said, 'exciting signings and fans gonna loves this player', i can say;
-Borini , fans not excited at all about this player eventough we need someone like him, poacher.
-Dempsey. We chase him because we miss Gylfi. Given his record, surely fans will be happy but not excited.
-Adam Johnson. Surely fans gonna love it.got pace, trickery which something we lack at wide position. Fans excited? Maybe.
-Ramirez, Sahin, griezmann, alonso, rossi, higuain, = only these king of player will make fans excited.

Eds, what's ur opinion on this?

KamonKamonRed. {Ed049's Note -

Adam johnson is good but i cannot help thinking because he doesn't play so often people have elaborated how good he is actually. I rate him yes and would like to him at LFC but i think players like Dempsey do not get the same credit due to the fact they just get on with the job. No frills so to speak. HE doesn't brag and doesn't seem to be a jumped up arrogant kind of player, which i am not sure i could say for Adam Johnson

I certainly wouldn't put Ramirez in the exciting catagory coZ no one has seen him play.

If the stories I am reading are to believed it appears that we are interested in signing Fabio Borini clint Dempsey and joe Allen what I want to know is, how likely are all three signings and do believe these players are good enough to get us back into the top 4

Provided we don't lose any significant players then these three would improve our team...we would be fighting for top four and it all depends on how consistently good we are...

Where would we have finished last season with Borini and/or Dempsey up front? Top 4 would be my guess (assuming they weren't hitting the woodwork). Any half-decent striker would have had us higher up the table last year.

So the transfer window has been open for little over a week and has anybody else been having sleepless nights.or a cardiac, smoking profusely whilst grappling with the remote control for skys on the hour updates regarding the latest transfer issues,it seems this football stuff is going to be the death of us all.But then the season starts and the smile seems to appear on peoples faces.even people who usually dont talk at all start a cheerful conversation with you,and its all because the new fixtures are printed. The 48 hours before the new season starts can be the most harrowing exoerience known to man, skys countdown could create a riot, war,or at the very least an argument. But soon our pain will be over. The new/old sign, new boss, new mascot, new balance,so what else.

Anyone else seen suso's flip- flap against Portugal?
We have a genuine world star player here, labelled as the " new David silva". MY A$$, this guy is better now!
BR I expect will be very keen to develop this guy, hope he gets a few cameos next season.

Jesus its one piece of skill. Lets not over-hype him and let the vultures circle.

Agreed this kid if he keeps progressing and doesnt get carried away with himself can be pretty special ....

I would agree Suso has the potential to be a huge star.
But please tell me you are not basing this solely on a flip-flap that you seen on youtube

How can Suso be better than David Silva thats what wrong on this page the hype then the downfall

Silva is a proven player Suso is not and Suso was not very good against the Ajax team that hammered LFC 6-1 in the next gen series

He is at the biggest club in the world.

why would adeybaor not fit into br style when he bangs them in left right and centre in any team ive seen,at the moment it seems br style of play is out of this world, top class, special one, barcelona passing, get real we need goals and the rest will sort itself...baz glo red....

Adebayor is a very talented player. But he also happens to command very high wages.

And his track record at every club I can think of, is excellent for 6 - 9 months, then average or below average afterwards.

Messi would fit but he costs too much as well. Ian Rush would fit but he's not part of LFCs youth policy either. We can do better with our dosh than blow it on Adebayor

If we are going to play tika taka next season them we should probably sell Caroll and bring in smaller players with low gravity who are agile. Barca have these in abundance and they are the masters of tika taka. Spain play great tika taka but it's a slightly longer form of tika taka than Barca. I've seen Barca tika taka 6 or 7 time between 2 men last season just to create space. One things for sure - if we are going to adopt the tika taka style of play then fans are going to have to be patient - especially at home.

Gazman

They also lack that second option for Pedro to play a cross to a tall strong center forward.
AnfieldUSA

Was seeing how many time I could get tika taka into a paragraph without anyone noticing - I managed 6 and got 6 agrees - incredible! The idea that we should buy shorter players to play ahem - 'tika taka' is ridiculous and 6 agree! People are insane!

Hilarious - gazman
