What say you Ed? {Ed001's Note - the club is looking for the best players, but we don't need to pay over the odds to attract talent like City had to, we are not far away from challenging already, they were a struggling side.}

Agree to an extent. Although I do personally feel the club could try to target better players then what we're currently doing. The only player who most fans would consider Marquee who has any creditable source that he might move here is Juan Mata and even then it seems unlikely.

Also City didn't really pay over the top for Silva or Tevez. On paper City are a far stronger squad then ours.

Wingers to sign:
A.Young
B.Dzsudzsak
D.Payet

Payet and Young can play Suarez style role and Dzsudzsak has amazing crossing ability so perfect for Carroll.

Other ins that seem likely are:
M.Sissoko
G.Cahill :/
P.Jones
Enrique :/
maybe Muniain

I would be happy to see:
Payet
Young
Dzsudzsak
Sissoko
Cahill
Enrique
and Muniain (but doubtfull)

Ed do you think it seems likely these could all come in???

Ladders {Ed002's Note - Always tough to say all are likely.}

sorry i meant like, are all likely ? (each) {Ed001's Note - each one is possible rather than likely.}

I would be happy enough with downing being one of the wingers we sign, he is a very good crosser of the ball and is decent running with it. i reckon he could become even better with better players around him.
also i agree with mlst about young, hes far to lightweight for my liking, id prefer someone like payet or griezman.
what you think ed?

LFC-IRE {Ed001's Note - I will be happy with whoever KK thinks is the right men to be honest. He has shown time and again he knows better than any of us.}

Let's pretend we don't want mata, as we all know Liverpool fans are citehs scouts!

11 May 2011 23:05:17
Evening all

Just wanted to chip in my two cents about potential signings.

A lot of people are saying we won't sign Tom, Dick or Harry because we can't offer them Champions League football & that may well be true. . However, its going to be tougher than ever to break into the top 4 next year & if we can't attract top players, then we won't make the cut & the cycle will continue.

Man Citeh managed to sign the likes of Silva & Tevez without CL football, so why do so many doubt that we can sign players of equal calibre? I know Citeh have more £ than most, but NESV / FSG are no paupers.

What say you Ed? {Ed001's Note - the club is looking for the best players, but we don't need to pay over the odds to attract talent like City had to, we are not far away from challenging already, they were a struggling side.}

Reina
Johnson Carragher Agger Jose Enrique
Kuyt Gerrard Meireles A.Young
Suarez Carroll

11 May 2011 22:52:49
Positions to address with suitable replacements (based on general rumour and media):

CB: Gary Cahill, Phil Jones, Sakho
LB: Enrique, Clichy(?), A Cissoko (my choice. )
CDM: M'Vila, Matoudi, Benega (my choice)
RM/ RW: Payet, A Young, Downing,
LM/ LW: Mata, Perotti, Marveaux, Munian
CF/ ST: ??? (someone content with being rotated. .I'd like Podolski if he'd come, versatile, hammer lefty, pace, tekkerz, would suit EPL)

If I had my way:

Reina
Cissoko - Cahill - Agger - Johnson
Mereiles - Gerrard
Young - Saurez - Mata
Carroll

or

Reina
Cissoko Cahill Agger Johnson
Matoudi
Mereiles - Gerrard
Young - Saurez - Mata

11 May 2011 22:32:43
ED, I know its a long shot but who would people prefer to come 6th Spurs or Everton, I have to say Everton because I know im ment to hate them and that there our rivals but I don't deel nothing towards them maybe its because im not from Liverpool. But I hate how cocky spurs fans are after 1 year of CL and I love to see there smiles kicked of there faces -Mc {Ed001's Note - I really don't care myself, I am only bothered where we come.}

Glen Johnson to play right midfield?

Agree for yes
Disagree for no

11 May 2011 22:25:32
Cheers for the reply Ed.

just one more thing. what you think of Jerome Thomas from West Brom? you think he'd be a decent signing? we were slightly linked with him earlier in the season.

many thanks

Double B {Ed001's Note - not a chance in hell, he is not even close to good enough, a very average player.}

Ed with city getting fourth do you think mancini will stay?if so does that improve are chances of attempting to get adam johnson and micah richards.DORSET RED {Ed002's Note - Mancini: It will be up to the owners. They have looked elsewhere but may be willing to stick with him. Toss of a coin. Johnson: Perhaps a chance. Richards: I don't know of any interest nor do I expect any.}
- - - - - - - - - - - -
according to reports there was a bid rejected for Richards in Jan, so there definatley was interest, but not sure about now especially after city seemed to want to keep him and he's been playing better since Jan so probably got even less chance now.

LFC to sign maradona, pele, beckenbauer, Zidane and me! well lets face it theres about as much chance of that as there is of us signing Aguerro, kaka, alonso or anyone that's likely to cost that kind of Money. especially when we need a LB, and 2 wingers. whoever kenny buys ill be confident that they will be better than rafas expensive flops. cheers leigh75

11 May 2011 21:09:35
Think we only need 4 quality additions to add to our already settled and performing squad. I don't think Ashley Young, Jose Enrique or Charlie Adam would add much quality to the existing squad.

Leighton Baines
Juan Mata
Adam Johnson
Javi Martinez

Reina
Johnson - Carragher - Agger - Baines
Gerrard - Lucas
Meireles
Suarez - Carroll - Mata

Jones
Flanagan - Kelly - Skrtel - Aurelio
Spearing - Martinez
Shelvey
Johnson - Kuyt - Maxi

+ Ayala, Wilson, Robinson & Pacheco in the first team squad.

-Shane.

Just picking up a few 'we are playing well, do we need carroll" comments on the site. Well can I just say yes we flipping do need him, we have suffered over the last few years without any strength and heading ability up front. Carroll gives us this and compliments the movement and speed of suarez. An ideal combination when carroll plays at the head of a xmas tree formation with suarez and potentially gerrard playing off and around him.
Carroll is key to LFC title bid, let him get over his injury niggles and come back next season all guns blazing.

I think this is what LFC's team of 2011/ 2012 could look like.

REINA

JOHNSON AGGER CAHILL ENRIQUE

KUYT GERRARD A.JOHNSON

SUAREZ CARROLL AGUERO

i think if liverpool can spend 15m on Cahill 7m on Enrique and get Aguero for 20m Adam Johnson 8m and get rid of some players, liverpool could win the 2011/ 2012 Premiership title as this is a strong team. what do you think ed? {Ed002's Note - I never comment on teams. Sorry. And Aguero for £20M?}

11 May 2011 20:38:26

FSG have costed up the price of anfield redevelopment and have concluded that a new stadium makes more financial sense in the long term than a redevelopment. However the new stadium will not be the Hicks/ Gillett design but the original 2002 design that was overseen by Rick Parry.

Ed there seem to be rumours circling about Ashley Young and Juan Mata. . do you think both could arrive or just one?

{Ed002's Note - I would not bank on both.}

James mccarthy is irish, not british. good player all the same

11 May 2011 20:00:57
Evening Eds and fellow Liverpool fans I'm afraid I have some bad news. I picked up a slight knock whilst playing for the Queens Head last Sunday and unfortunately, despite not being serious, I won't be fit for this week. As a result of this I have taken the incredibly difficult decision to announce my retirement from international football in the hope that I may prolong my career at club level. This decision was not taken lightly and it's a sad day for me but I feel the time was right.

Liverpool currently have tabled bids for St Etienne midfielder, Blaise Matuidi & Atletico Bilbao winger Iker Muniain. These are the only foreign players were likely to sign. The rest will be British, Gary Cahill, Ashley Young & James McCarthy. Stewart Downing is also being considered.

i think there will be a big asian signing not just for his playing ability but for marketing purposes

11 May 2011 19:51:44
{Ed002's Note - I doubt you will see Marin at Anfield next year.}

Why not? He plays for Bremen who are hardly a top club, and would be willing to sell for the right price.

11 May 2011 19:47:15
Probable team for next year:

Reina
Johnson Kelly Agger Enrique
Lucas
Gerrard
Young Suarez Mata
Carroll

Subs: Gulasci, Carra, Skrtel, Meireles, Kuyt, Maxi, Shelvey.

Does it seem likely Ed? {Ed001's Note - well it is highly unlikely Agger will be fit! I am still not convinced we will get Mata, there are a lot of clubs in for him.}

11 May 2011 19:44:01
Should Shelvey be put on loan to develop at a club like Bolton (e.g. Wilshere-worked very well)?

Shelvey on-loan - bel

Shelvey stays - unbel

11 May 2011 19:38:09
Mata would be a fantastic signing for around 20m (as valencia are cash strapped), mention of ashley young for 14m is welcome for me. I don't really rate him very highly and especially with his previous price tag of around 25m but for 14m i'd take him as the last few times i've watched him he's played well.

Mata 20m
Young 14m
Sakho/ Kjaer 12m
Banega/ Defour 14m
Marveaux Free
Left back 8-15m
Striker 10-15m

We'll go for James McCarthy if the Charlie Adam deal falls through.

"I personally think McCarthy would be a better signing. IMO he's better, obviously younger and definately going to be a better player than Adam."

I most certainly hope not. Both are not worthy of our great club. Just a random question ed, why did we sign that plonker sean dundee?

Guillam Balgue - ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

This bloke is always quoted via t**tter saying what Spanish based players are joining English teams and usually they are utter horse. Why does anybody beleive anything he says - HE IS A JOURNALIST who now has reduced appearances on Sky.

Just because he is Spanish doesn't mean he knows every spanish footballer and their contract details.

According to GB we are signing Forlan / Mata / Aguero etc etc etc.

Oh yes - he also pointed out 14 months ago that Reina was leaving and wouldn't sign a new deal - only 6 years out on that one GB

@11 May 2011 19:16:23 To Red Lenin: "Kaka for Gerrard?? Thionk about it."

I thought about it for very nearly two seconds. Much as I think Gerrard unbalances the team and probably only has one more hard season in him, Kaka is nowhere near the player he was and wouldn't last 5 minutes in the hurley-burley of the Premier League.

@11 May 2011 16:06:13 "Lads planning a stay in Liverpool for a match next season, where's the best spot to stay? B&B"

Consider looking outside the City at somewhere nearby with excellent public transport links. Chester, Widnes, Runcorn, Ellesmere Port, Frodsham all spring to mind with Chester probably the best bet. If you are coming in from Ireland have a look at Irish Ferries and Stena Line for their hotel packages with inclusive ferry and rail.

11 May 2011 19:09:10
we are pole postition to sign ashley young (according to papers) we are definatly not getting kaka as hhim mum put on twitter that they are planning on moving to london, meaning a london club will more than likely to sign him and the only club really interested are Chelsea, they are also looking to sign mata, but his and his agent have held talks with people from liverpool so i'm guessing they are doing it so that we don't get him as he is a very very good talent. Marveux is virtually a done deal. Dunno any other rumours but they are all true as someone i know works at melwood and i asked if he knows anything and he did tell me that they are all true and are looking likely to sign the 3 players mentioned :)
Next season is gonna be a good one, i reckon we will finish in the top 2 or 3 maybe even champions. But i think champions league will defo happen :)
CMON YOU MIGHTY RED MEN {Ed001's Note - Kaka's mother said nothing about moving to London, all she said was she was going to London for some church thing. It is nothing to do with where the lad himself will be next season.}

I think everyone may well be suprised come the summer with regards to signing's, everyone on here claim they are in the know but always come out with the same old signings. adam, marveaux, enrique etc. & yet running upto the jan tranfer window did anyone see the andy carroll transfer coming?? no they didnt, so be patient people & we may all get a few decent suprises this summer. after all FSG have said they will strengthen this summer with quality players as our squad is a bit thin on the ground. yet the names being banded around all the time adam, marvaux, etc are not of the quality required & i think kk knows this & as he has shown is not stupid & will only buy players who will fit in the system & be able to play the pass & move. sorry to go on & on but just got sick of coming on this site & reading the same old sh** "im itk we will buy adam, marvaux. etc etc" in my opinion i think we will be pleasantly suprised & will not sign just any old sh** that won't improve our squad.

Hi ed, could fulham lose their euro cup place on fair play after all the yellows against liverpool?

{Ed002's Note - It is not simply reds and yellows - and weirdly enough, if they do lose their place next in line is Spurs. The latest table I have seen has:

Chelsea in first, Fulham, Spurs, Manchester United, Blackpool, WHU, Arsenal, Villa, WBA, Everton, Liverpool, Man City, Wolves, Wigan, Birmingham, Blackburn, Bolton, Stoke, Sunderland, Newcastle.}

If I were KK or DC I would look at it this way . . .:
If we get
Sakho : Can play CB and LB so is worth the money. About 18m (although he is worth it)!
Mata : Can play winger or striker if needs be. About 20-23m. Again IMO worth it !
Young : Same as Mata . 15m we need width.
Marveaux : free (looks like he's coming anyway). A brilliant back-up option !
A young but experienced player he can help the younger players.
So we will spend around 55m but we have covered quite a few positions for less than if we bought separate players for their preferred position . And we also help out the youngsters ! What does everyone think ? Ed ?

Ok so this 100 million issue .
It all got confused

There is 50 million or as one savvy fan pointed out whatever the owners feel is prudent to spend . The area that is slowing KK contract is its weather he or DC has controle of that money . This has led to some people saying tha DChas 50 mil and KK has 50 mil = 100 mil

The truth is we don't need that much . Spending money like that would mean we have to ged rid of some of the players that have been so good for us recently + it would mean less opertunatys for the young lads and that's not what KK or the owners are all about .

If we sign Mata we kill 2 birds with 1 because he can play as a 2nd striker if need be. The position we had in mind for Joe Cole. We have to be careful not to over buy thus stunting the development of Academy players. We don't want what happened to D Sturridge to happen to Morgan. Sakho would also be a great buy for similar reasons. He can cover Agger & Aurelio if they are still here. Another left back would stunt JRobinson

As previously stated I don't post crap, as I don't see the need lie to my fellow LFC fans.Anyway I posted a couple of days ago on the James McCarthy transfer, just an update on the matter, the fee which as been quoted is 6.4m rising to 8m with appearances and qualification to Europe, the only hitch at the moment is Martinez insists on keeping McCarthy on loan at Wigan if they beat the drop.I should have more tomorrow as I will be talking to a mutual friend.

The only 'hitch' as you put it, is he aint very good. At least he is no better than we already have. Horse manure.

Why do like 80% of people now believe lucas is good enough 2 play centre midfield for liverpool fc??? yesss we ALLLLL agree he has improved since he arrived (it was hard not 2). .but he STILL isn't good enough and will never be! . . . . . . . and as for dirk kuyt, yes he's been on good goal scoring form over the last 6 weeks, but b4 that he has been terrible all season and for the last 2 seasons b4 that!

we NEED 6 players between now an next january! left back, centre back, defensive midfielder, 2 wingers and a forward!

all realistic possiblities. .

baines/ sissokho
sahko/ hummels. .
m'vila/ annan. .
mata/ navas/ ash young/ a johnson/ turan/ payet/
anelka/ benzema/ gervinho {Ed001's Note - so the fact the Lucas and Kuyt have been an essential part of the team, which has been rolling over just about everyone, has obviously escaped you?}

Ed, all this talk of Aguero is very annoying, I don't think we can accommodate such a player with players coming back from injury (Gerrard and Carroll). Everyone seems to think we're gonna play 4-3-3 formation next season with Aguero, Suarez and Carroll, this is not gonna happen, I don't know if these are just kids coming on this site and posting teams with these 3 players up front, or whether they're just mad people that haven't a clue about what the club needs. . My mate keeps saying on KrapTalk there's an update option on Sergio Aguero for members only so we must be trying to buy him! ! Maybe people are reading too much into this. . Everyone at this stage should know that anything fat hole Dunk says, the complete opposite tends to happen unless he's stating the obvious (like Dalglish's appointment as manager full time).
I can't see the Mata, Benzema, Gary Cahill, Sissoko or Alexis Sanchez transfers happening either. . Marveaux is a definite obviously. Whoever does come in will be quality, players that can play the way Kenny wants them to, I can see us spending alot of money but nothing like the £100m people are suggesting. . The only reason we spent so much on Andy Carroll (£35m) was because it was last minute and Newcastle couldn't get a replacement in time. I think Andy's a great addition, we just need the ammunition now from the wings for him IMO and a left back. . It just really depends on what players are available i.e. if Scott Parker becomes available i'd expect a bid for him because he's proven quality in the premier league. I know Lucas and Spearing have signed new deals but its all about having options and building the squad. .

Marveaux, Young, Enrique, Adam Johnson/ Stuart Downing, Scott Parker. .

Ed I think this list is a fairly decent achievable list of transfers, what do you think?

Rocky {Ed001's Note - if we move for Parker then we may as well give up, he is not good enough for anything bar a struggle at the foot of the table. I fail to see why you have included Johnson as achievable though. What makes you think City will sell to us? There is a very good chance he will leave if Mancini stays but why would they sell to us? Look at the way they forced Bellamy to go outside the Prem or not play football.}

To,
Mr. Kenneth Dalglish,
Manager Liverpool Football Club,
Anfield Road, Liverpool, L4 0TH
Sub: Transfer Request
Dear Sir:
Hope this letter finds you in the best of health. I apologize for not turning up for training today since I was suffering from a really bad mood as I mentioned in the text message I sent you.
I would like to bring your attention to a more pressing issue at hand, or at least my hands it seems. The issue about my involvement in what you call the first team of the Liverpool Football Club.
Sir, every since you and Mr. Steve Clark have come on board, I have had a terrible run on the field. When I was young, I was given to understand that football is a game played by a team of 11 versus another similar set. I m surprised to see that although you re worshipped by all the supporters, stakeholders, players etc of the club, I do not form a part of the 11. May be you have not noticed, but I really do not get to play football! In the past four months or so, the ball hardly comes to me. Ever since you joined, the total goals scored have only been 14 (as against 27 before you did). This statistic would mean that the defense and the goalkeeper have been stronger but my worry is that most of the work is done by the defenders that you pick and have trained.
During the last regime, every midfielder and defender was looking to pass the ball to me. Then I was supposed to hoof the ball at the striker. These days, even the defenders don t pass the ball to me. The young guys have so much confidence that they tackle and dribble and pass the ball away to the midfield, or worse, they themselves make a run in to the opposing half. Even in other teams, there is so much focus on goalkeepers, like Tottenham and Arsenal.
Apart from the obvious desire of touching and kicking the football at football stadiums, there are other personal issues as well. My wife called me up in the half time of the Fulham game and was wondering what I was doing in London as if she was suspecting that I had lied that I would be playing with your team in the game. I understand her worries since the ball hardly came to me and my TV appearance was blink-and-you-miss. She promises that she didn t blink too many times that evening. Even my agent and sponsors are getting worried. They say that I m not getting too much TV time and it s hurting my recognition among the fans and thus reducing the brand value. The momentum that you have cultivated in the team is so high that even after the first goal, the action shifted so quickly that I was hardly on TV. So much so, that I had to kick the ball away and make the referee give me a yellow card just to be on camera for a few seconds. It was helpful in preserving my vanity for the night.
Sir, such has been the performances of the rest of the blokes that even young kids like Flano and Robbo get so much TV time. With all due respect to Maxi, he was hardly on the substitutes bench earlier but now he is always on TV and newspapers. His wife made some really wonderful tacos the other day for him while I had to order pizza. He was taking a dig at me on phone. I was so jealous.
I should thank you for atleast mentioning me the other day about the balls I played that created a goal against Birmingham.
There were times when I was called into great saves. The defenders were lacking confidence, the strikers were nearer my post. I had so much company. There were so many attempts on my goal that I had so much TV time. My wife never doubted me. These days I only get to chat with Carra near the post. As scouse as I am now, there is still time before I start understanding what he says. The other day he said something but I could only understand he said chair somewhere in between. I think he was suggesting that I should bring a chair along with me.
Given the above circumstances, I would like to submit a formal transfer request. I would now like to play more part in the outfield. You ve made Dirk and Maxi into such prolific scorers. Jay and Lucas are never shy of taking a attempt. Raul had a super run under you. For God s sake, even Joe Cole has scored! Please transfer me to the midfield so that I too can play football and can get rid of the above mentioned issues.
Truly,
Jose Manuel Pepe Reina

ha h seen this on a website. Quite Humourous. ! ! what do you make of it ed??. {Ed001's Note - I like that, I wish I had written it.}

Well I don't know if this is going to come out in the right format but here goes. . . . . . I think this is the type of squad we will be going for, mostly French and English, Nasri is obviously the long term replacement for Gerrard, different type of attacking mid but still just as potent and 1 year left on his contract as-well! !

Aguero I stuck in out of hope really but you could stick anyone around the same price bracket, also you have noticed the prices that we are selling our players, these are roughly quite accurate from sources in the media, people keep devaluing our squad players, take Jovanovic for instance people keep saying he's going for 1m or on a free, nonsense there are a lot of clubs out there that want him 6m is what is being quoted in the press, Paulson as-well he's still the Captain of Denmark and was very successful in Italy.

!m or @m is pretty much peanuts in the modern game so the likes of Degen or El Zahr could easily attract this figure.

The profit of the club, well who knows, could be 20m could be 50m with the Standard chartered deal we will have to wait and see and the 15m from the owners is, what I believe the maximum they can put in each season from their own pockets, anyways I believe this to be more realistic (give or take the Aguero inclusion) opinions guys?

My view on the rumours currently circling

Aguero Wages (and ambition) out of our league
Benzema Possible he may leave, but expect Arsenal (or Utd) a more likely destination if he comes to the prem striker is not a priority with Carroll/ Suarez and Dirk available
Kaka Expensive and old doesn t fit FSG criteria
Mata Expect stiff competition (Barca, City) so unlikely
Young Seems a straight battle between us and Utd (depends on players appetite for playing time vs probability of trophies)
Johnson Decent chance if City bring in more expensive recruits (although chance they could refuse to sell to competitor a la Bellamy)
Dzsudszak Backup choice if 1 of 3 above doesn t come off
Marveaux Likely if FSG can be convinced he s over injury problems
Adam Utd now heading the queue
Sakho Probably seen as too high risk (unproven in top league) compared to the fee being demanded
Cahill Good chance (possible loans the other way Shelvey/ Ayala)
Jones Watching brief on how he develops (Cahill more likely as we need someone commanding)
Baines 1st choice but politics between the clubs means it won t happen
Enrique Probable

Centre midfield now seems to be the biggest area of interest. Adam seems less likely, but with Kenny s preferred formation (which seems to involve 3 in the middle) we ll still need another player to add to Gerrard, Lucas, Spearing & Meireles (Shelvey out on loan)

Most Likely : Enrique / Cahill / Marveaux / a Centre Midfielder and 1 from Young/ Johnson/ Mata/ Dzsudszak - circa £50m spent

Players leaving : Jones/ Konchesky/ Insua/ Soto/ Degen/ Poulsen/ Aquilani/ Cole/ Jovanovic/ El Zhar/ Amoo/ Pacheco/ Ngog - circa £30m return

Net cost £20m (although likely we won t find buyers for some of the players so some of the sales will end up being loans)

Thoughts Ed?

You say about the Mata rumour like theres no chance then you say Maxi might be left on the bench for Young. Mata plays on the left wing and to me would be a much better choice although i would like to see both come in and Young being played on the right with Kuyt coming off the bench as a 3rd striker. I agree with you about Kaka and Aguero don't think theres even any chance in us looking at these players.

11 May 2011 15:22:08
2 quality signings required from Mata, andy johnson, navas & payet. Combine 2 of these players, keep aquaman, joe cole and maxi and bring in the youngsters and we should be as good as gold! Squad is good and we should not buy just because we can. 2 or 3 quality players only. Thoughts. . . . . . .

11 May 2011 15:00:23
My theory about Suarez seems to be true in that he brings out the best in his strike partners. Just look at Huntelaar, Pantelic, Forlan (at the world cup), and in the half season he spent with Hamdaoui (Hamdaoui has 13 goals now but when Suarez left he had 11). Now he is doing the same with Kuyt and Maxi as they both have marvelous scoring records with him in the team.

Reds / Eds.
Re the Aguero subject - again, sorry.
If he does move, it can only be City that could surely afford his reported wages.
But how the # can Athletico afford him, is what I want to know.
What is the rest of the squad paid in - buttons ?
KB {Ed001's Note - it is why the club are in severe financial difficulties and having to sell highly paid players, such as Forlan, in the summer.}

Ed,
In your opinion, where does Dalglish rank as a player on the world stage, English stage and Liverpool stage. I think he has to be in the top 10 ever in world rankings, and the best ever British player and LFC player. Anyone who knows football and his style from his playing day can see that that is what he wants to put on the field as a manager too. Surely with Luis enjoying himself so much here, other upcoming superstars too would see Liverpool as a very attractive team to join, with the likes of Gerrard, Carra, Pepe, Miereles, and GJ as teammates, and KK as the manager.

{Ed002's Note - It is absolutely impossible to say.}

11 May 2011 14:15:24
I think we need another player simular to suarez. i know that's not easy to find but if he is out injured we might struggle a bit. a player like that frightens the life out of defenders and gives the other players so much more space. god i love suarez

THE BIRD {Ed002's Note - Someone like Dayro Moreno then. Interesting.}

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
I would hardly say Moreno is in the same category as Suarez Ed? he plays in Colombia and struggled at Bucharest.

{Ed002's Note - So you are suggesting Aguero then?}

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Lol come on now Ed that's not what I said, surely there are other options, just don't think Moreno is as good as Suarez. Are there any other options in your oppinion Ed? (Aguero would be nice though! lol)

{Ed002's Note - I am not suggesting Moreno is as good as Suarez and I know near zip about the player. But someone is bringing the player over to England for a trial.}

So Zidane who is scout with Real Madrid won't put his son on the books at Madrid? Just don't believe that one and also on the Torres thing, who cares if he's available for 10 million! Why do you want a lazy, don't give a carp player like that back at the club in which he said wasn't big enough for him? No-body has heard these rumours Ryan because either there in your dreams or your head.

Hi

Some reasoned conjecture for you:

First of all Stevie dispelled any lingering doubts on Monday night. Both he and Kenny will be at Liverpool next season. Our club captain and manager are sorted. I don't think we need any more Stevie or Kenny leaving rumours.

Secondly, our form since January has been outstanding, only Chelsea have amassed more points. Kenny and Fenway must be feeling that we have the basis of a title challening squad. There will not be 10 signings! There will not will be 10 players leaving. However, both Manchester clubs, Man City and possibly Arsenal and Spurs will all strengthen in the summer. We will have to make some clever and strong signings in the summer if we want to continue to compete.

By "department":

Goalkeeper - Reina is staying, we have adequate back up. No signings required.

Defence - Kelly, Flanagan, Robinson, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Agger, Kyrgiakos and Aurelio. I don't see any of these leaving unless a brilliant replacement is available and indeed i see the three youngsters playing together more and more often. So i don't believe a signing is essential here especially as we have Ayala and Wilson coming through too. As everyone knows if there is one area that could do with help its left back - but if we didn't get the right player here i think we would be ok to keep the cash in our pocket for other areas.

Midfield - Gerrard, Lucas, Merieles and Spearing will be our central players. Kenny likes playing two holding (as did Rafa). I can see a player coming in to cover injuries and suspensions. I would love to see Xabi back but perhaps Mvilla is more likely.

Obviously Poulsen hasnt had the affect we hoped and is likely to leave. Charlie Adam would be a good replacement to bolster central mid.

Wingers as everyone knows is our key area for investment. Cole and Maxi are currently options but i would hope we offer significant incentives to Man City and Adam Johnson. In addition it sounds like Marveaux is complete which is great and Ashley Young is close too - i like him.

Strikers - Ngog is leaving as is Pacheco i am sure. We have kuyt, Suarez and Carroll. Do we need another?

The system we play is 4-4-1-1

With Adam Johnson, Ashley Young or Marveux and Charlie Adam or Mvilla joining do we need another striker? I am not sure we do unless an amazing option becomes available.

I don't generally agree with printing first 11 teams as very few clubs play the same 11 week in week out, what is needed now is a first 17/ 18/ 19:

for us it should be:

Reina

G Johnson - Kelly - Carra - Flanagan
(Agger, Skrtel, Aurelio, Robinson)

Young - Gerrard - Lucas - A Johnson
(Marveaux, Spearing, Merieles, Adam)

Suarez

Carroll
(Kuyt)

In some games we play with an extra midfielder with Carroll or Suarez playing up front on their own.

Sorry for lengthy post!

I am reliably informed that due to the recent form of jay spearing and lucas, charlie adam will not be joining liverpool this summer

Good, Adam is a good player in a Blackpool side, emphasis on the word "Blackpool"
He'd look ordinary in a Liverpool side. Which is not what we need.

Watching the Fulham game on Fox Sports here in Australia and Martyn Tyler mentioned in his commentary that he had heard that Liverpool had a budget of 100million quid for summer transfers. Not sure how Martyn would be privy to this info but I guess he knows plenty of people in the game. Would anyone care to comment on/ confirm this information?

it's true LIVERPOOL will spend BIG this summer

Breaking news. . it seems the entire spurs squad are set to leave the Lane. They all want Champion's League football and therefore need to leave. As we will be qualifying for the ECL in the 2012/ 13 season we should be ale to pick up some of these Modric, Bale, Dawson maybe? Aresnal might also go for Gomez. . Before you all go clicking on Unbelieve just wait for my source: every singe idiot Spuds fan who has been on this site in the past 12 months. With that many people saying it it must be true.

Personally as much as I hate europa league, its necessary. Not for money or status but because kk needs experience of managing in europe. I watched all of our europa league games this season and both hodgeson and kenny picked poor teams and tactics in europe. Can't help thinking he played it safe due to inexperience

Not too sure about Hulk. I'd bet a lot of people are judging him based on just youtube videos. His stats are impressive though and if KK and DC think he's worthwhile, then I have faith in them!

I have just been speaking to John Aldridge him and his wife use my uncles shop in gateacre all the time he said when he had lunch with kenny and a few other past players recently kenny told him him and comoli both went away and chose a player in each position we needed and are currently thrshing out between them which of the two would suite better and cost and fit the team best

LB - Enrique (kings) Baines (DC)
CM - Adam (Kings) M'Villa (DC)
Wings - A.Johnson A.Lennon (King) Marveaux Mata (DC)

Am sure the KING would of cast his net a lot futher than EPL when given the chance too.

I think we need another player simular to suarez. i know that's not easy to find but if he is out injured we might struggle a bit. a player like that frightens the life out of defenders and gives the other players so much more space. god i love suarez

Ashley Young to Liverpool is doing the paper rounds today, God knows who it will be tomorrow.
As long as King Kenny is appointed, I'm sure we will tie up deals for some of the best players around.
He makes everyone play well, I bet even Poulsen would look good.

A big hello to all fellow reds, exciting times ahead regardless of who we buy in the summer-I for one have total faith in Kenny. It's not just the individual club or manager concerned that produces success, but how the two fit together. Anyone with any sense can see how exciting and dynamic we are going forward since kk took over, intirely in keeping with the philosophy of great sides of Liverpool's past. Watching Suarez, Kuyt, Carrol, Meireles(even rodriguez???) drag defenders all over the pitch and create holes everywhere, shows Dalglish's thinking.Think Kenny, Whelan, Barnes, Ray Houghton.We need a left and right winger that can both cross and cut in, the interchange will be a nightmare. Personally I'd like to see Ashley Young and Stefan Jovetic brought in for the first team, but clearly our speculated targets give an indicator about the type of players we will bring in-attacking-wise.Craft, guile, workrate, youth.

Its you lot that have made Joe Cole want to leave, and yes his wife has said she wants to return to LONDON, in fact they both have, both of them miss there social life in the capital, all there friends are in LONDON, and there familys.Get your facts right! {Ed001's Note - actually the only reason he wants to go is because he can't get in the team. That is why he is unhappy, when he joined he was promised first team football and he hasn't got it. Nothing to do with London at all.}

Hello all who read this ! !
just wana say been coming on this site for ages and i like it as it gets u thinking about who we might sign but really i just want to go back to the good old days and leave it to King Kenny to tell us who we've signed !
we all know the man has an eye for a player and now we have some proper owners( by the looks of things ) hopefully we can get the players we need and the king knows where and who !
i know its good to come on here and say we should sign this n that player as i have done it myself quite often but u just get yourself over excited and end up disappointed ( i.e. Joe Cole ! ) whoever Kenny signs i will support so it doesn't really matter ! !

Ed could you plse answer a question i have?

why would we pay 20m for young with a year left on his contract??????

when we are being quoted figures of 22m for mata, personally i would get mata if he would come and then try for payet/ johnson.

i personally believe that we need

1xCB
1XLB/ WBL
1XDM/ MC
3XWINGERS

My choices would be

SAKHO
CISSOKHO
M, VILLA
MATA, JOHNSON, PAYET

With agger bein so injury prone would you sell him if a decent bid came in for him? for me it would have to be in the region of 10-13m

Starting 11 for 2011/ 2012

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . reina. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

johnson. . . . . . kelly. . . . . .sakho. . . . . cissokho.

. . . . . . . . . . .mvilla. . . . . .gerrard. . . . . . . . . . .

johnson. . . . . . . . . . .suarez. . . . . . . . . . mata. . .

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .carroll. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

SUBS- carra, flannagan, lucas, meireles, payet, kuyt, galucsi, spearing, maxi, add to this some of the youngsters and we have a mighty fine team capable of challenging for the title as long as we can keep the injuries to a minimum. and we get a good pre-season from all the players and that would mean sterling, coady, suso, and morgan and whoever else KK thinks might do a good job for us with some experience in lesser games i.e carling cup

plse post ed and your comments would be welcome {Ed001's Note - I don't believe anyone would pay 20m for Young personally.}

KK will not want to boost the squad with too many big names as we already have quality players and would not want to create a situation where you either have sulking big names on the bench or forced to implement a rotation system.
GK - Reina, Gulacsi
RB - Johnson, Flano, Kelly
LB - (new Signing Starter - Enrique/ Baines), Robinson, Insua and Johnson if needed.
CB - Carra, Agga, (New Signing Starter - Cahill), Skrtl, Wilson
CM - Lucas, (New Signing Backup - Adam), Gerrard, Spearing, Meireles if needed.
RW - (New Signing Starter -Young), Meireles, Kuyt if needed.
LW - (New Signing Starter - Downing/ Young), Maxi, Suarez if needed.
ST - Suarez, Carroll, Kuyt, (New Signing Backup)

So 4 Main Signings and 2 Backups.

Sold/ Let go - Poulsen, Konchesky, Aquilani, Cole, Ngog, TheGreek

Ed, one of the clear differences under Kenny & Clarke is that when we have the ball we pile forward with numerous players looking to get into the opposing teams penalty area. It is this reason why Maxi has scored numerous goals in the last few games (being in the right place at the right time). This causes the opposition all sorts of problems. Fulham could not cope with it. As soon as we lose the ball everyone knows his place. This is the way the Liverpool of old played (and so successfully copied by Manure). From now on in it will be for the opposition to worry about how to stop us. Great progress has been made. By the way, have you seen the number of our youth players being called up to England under 17 s and under 19s. It is a phenomenal achievement and whilst all will not necessary become first team players, this bodes extremely well for our future. Segura & Borrell (thanks Rafa!) and their colleagues are replicating what they achieved at Barcelona. We already have Kelly, Spearing, Flannagan and Robinson breaking into the first team (Shelvey too though he was bought from Charlton). Give it a couple of years and we are likely to have another 3-4 players brought through the youth team joining them in the first team. The future is looking so so good. Reality Red {Ed002's Note - A very good summary. The future looks good indeed.}

A touchline hugging winger in the mold of John Barnes would only satisfy a one dimensional style of play looking for the cross in for big Andy to get on the end of.

John Barnes One dimensional?? You must be joking! If John Barnes was playing today he would be worth twice as much as Sanchez/ Hazard etc., don't forget he played CM for a long time after he lost a bit of pace!

From the Independent

Liverpool's Premier League record since Dalglish took over at the turn of the year has been bettered only by Chelsea and Anfield fans almost universally want to see Dalglish take permanent charge. Research published by the Fan Chants website suggested that the noise made by the club's supporters inside Anfield has increased by 40 per cent, to 95 decibels, since Dalglish succeeded Hodgson. FSG, which confirmed on 9 April talks with Dalglish were under way, are acutely aware of the fans' wishes.

Don't you just love statistics like that.

All the reports I have seen indicate KK will sign before the AV game.

Guys, Seriously, Give the Ed's a break! Everyday, I check here and all you do is "what the chances with this guy?" "Can we get him?" We all know the realistic signing's so we all should get our heads out of our asses for a change!

Onto "lighter" things

Realistic & Potential Signings:
Cahil
Mata
Sisskoo
Adam
Wickham
Lukaku(Albeit we win the war)
Enqirue(spelling)
Many many more I've forgotten to mention.

We will NOT Sign Kun Aguero, Benzema, Hazard, or Sanchez. Unless we pull something from the top draw(Which is 00.0009% of it will happen)

PS: Ed's your doing a marvelous job. Don't ever Give up ;) Cheers! {Ed001's Note - give up? Never! I am still buzzing because I have finally communicated the football bug to my daughter. I can see any transfers being done behind closed doors like the way it should be.

I seriously hope we don't sign Enrique (Over-rated), Barton (Animal) or Gutierrez (Yeah i've seen him mentioned). I'd take a gamble on Taiwo since he's out of contract from Marseille, another left back playing in France i wouldn't mind is Bordeaux's Tremoulinas.

Alonso would be an excellent signing but I highly doubt that'll ever come about.

Who i'd like to see ideally: Alonso, young, Hazard, Taiwo, Mertersaker.

Out: Degen, Soto, Konchesky, Jovanovic, Poulsen (Ngog stays unless we get another striker in or play Pacheco)

Great site still ed

It's funny, I remember last January when we signed Maxi from Atletico. I was fairly excited by it. I remember thinking "a front three with Torres, Maxi and Kuyt with Gerrard pushing forward could be very good." Ofcourse it never panned out under Rafa and Roy. Now with the King we have replaced Torres with Suarez and Gerrard with Meireles but what I thought back then has come to fruition. Maxi and Kuyt are both obviously playing great. Its amazing how much more Kenny is getting out of certain players than the previous 2 managers did.

Andy Carroll will be massive for us next season. I can't understand the bits of negativity creeping in about him.
He's exactly the type of player we've been crying out for over the last few years, as is Suarez.
Both players are unplayable on their day and will be dynamite next year.
Babel/ Torres for Carroll/ Suarez. . . . effin' no-brainer which is the preferred choice!
If Carroll and Suarez can stay relatively injury-free, and Kuuyt is indestructible, we don't have too many problems up-front. A Lukaku or a Wickham would be a welcome back-up. . even Toivanen or Wolfswinkel but this isn't a priority as we've got youngsters knocking on the door.
