After reading the usual media carp, i am left with a question that i cannot find the answer to, and its worrying me a little.
we all know that barcap and the board etc. .etc are doing everything in their power to secure suitable new owners for the club! now my worry is that if we do not get new owners in place by october , will RBS take as much care and select our next owners, will there be a similar process as now, will they care who they sell to or will it not matter as long as the amount they want paid back, is paid. can they sell to someone who does not give a monkeys about the club so they can just asset strip to make a profit and run ?
does anyone know, will the club have any protection come october?

Nice to see City, Man U, and Tottenham all drew! Let's hope we can win tomorrow and Villa lose on Monday. Then we will be back in the Top 4!

11 Sep 2010 20:22:31

If Liverpool win well on Sunday against a 'useful' Birmingham, we will have regained the 3 points lost against Man City. As ManCity and Spurs drew today we may be fourth this time tomorrow.

India's Sahara Group said it was not interested in a deal "at the moment".
This was last time, the key words at that time , because everyone thought it would be done before trans window. The key words "at the moment". .dont rule them out. . .Too many people are just going to the Times rich list and then trying to link any of them to the club. .If I was a gambling man I'd put my money on Sheikh. . He wants it , hes just being stubborn or waiting to shaft the yanks.

Everybody that keeps posting about the takeover needs to slow down and not get your hopes up about the October 6th deadline. Yes RBS have put the debt in their toxic debt office so they want it sorted by then but don't forget Barcap have offered G&H a short term loan solution, therefore RBS would be shut of the debt but it becomes Barcap's then for however long their terms are.

I might just be a conspiracy theorist but Barcap being put in charge of selling the club, then offering a financial solution to G&H to extend for the short term. . I expect the takeover to come just before the January transfer window with Barcap getting a rather large fee. (January's transfer window could be seen as a carrott to dangle before the highest bidder. buy now and you can stamp your mark on the team straight away!)

What do the Ed's think?

{Editors' Note: I agree that BarCap may well be willing to assist by offering to use the £300M put by for financing either the existing owners or new owners. This might be enough for RBS to extend their facilities for a few months if a stage payment can be made. However, against this is that there has already been a failed attempt by Mssrs Hicks and Gillett to refinance with BarCap in June. It is most unlikely that the other board members voted this down as has been suggested - but the reason for it not happening are by no means clear. It will be an interesting few months regardless of what happens.}

To the guy at the end here saying "which political theory, philosophy or religion which offers (like Islam has offered for over 1400 years) such rights to women by giving her total control of her life and affairs?? NONE" well assuming you are aware of democracy within the western world especially then that in itself is a political theory which indeed offers voting rights and equal rights of pay etc to woman. Islam 1400 years ago did not offer the right of voting as that was not in existence back then due to having a monarchy. Furthermore, it is well known that a Muslim man can have 4 wives where a woman cannot have 4 husbands (not equal). Also I cannot speak for all religions but Budhism promotes the journey of one and being equal and Sikhism promotes women and men as absolute equals and almost more respect to women since women make mothers and mothers are most respected.

This is not a site for such debate but feel it is important to put incorrect information right.

"We like to think we would defend womens rights no matter what, but I wonder; if we grew up in that same middle-eastern and traditional muslim environment, we might well have the same broad views."

The person who wrote the above is either ignorant or highly misinformed. Many middle eastern countries do not even follow the true laws of Islam. With regards to women in Islam I would like to clarify the following.
Here are some fundamental rights of women in Islam.
1. The RIGHT and duty to acquire an education.
2. The RIGHT to have her own independent property.
3. The RIGHT to work [job or business] to earn money, which she is soley entitled to.
4. The RIGHT to equal reward for equal deed and/ or work.
5. The RIGHT to argue and/ or advocate her cause.
6. The RIGHT to vote since 1, 421 years.
7. The RIGHT to provisions from her husband for all her needs and more.
8.The RIGHT to keep all her own money. [She is not responsible for maintenance of family].
9.The RIGHT to get custody of her children in case of divorce [unless she is unable to raise them for valid reasons]

Name any other political theory, philosophy or religion which offers (like Islam has offered for over 1400 years) such rights to women by giving her total control of her life and affairs?? NONE

{Editor's Note: The Editors like to get a little sleep you know.}

11 Sep 2010 08:24:46

Well it all makes sense now, but i'm sure I wasn't the only person to get excited over the transfer window.

Let's be honest, the takeover was never going to happen. Why would anybody bid for Liverpool at H&G's value of 800m, or even close to that, when they were obviously aware that RBS wouldn't hold out on unpaid debts for much longer. Surely there must be a catch or something? I can't believe H&G failed so badly with a premier league club that they may be forced to cut thier losses and run? ED or educated people - know anything about financial strategy? What are these Septic Tanks up to?

Looking forward to the next month, and to people asking why Torres, Gerrard, Reina etc will stay; because they know a takeover is imminent, and at the dropped price from the 6th of October onwards it is going to get hectic. I reckon there are more potential buyers who have not even bothered up until this point. They obviously saw this coming so why bother until RBS has set the rules?

And some more confidence please boys and girls, Mascherano really only fits as a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 as he can't finish or shoot from distance to save his life. He's defensive all the way and I think Meireles will be so much better for Liverpool.

Hopefully with Jovanovic on the left and Cole on the right, we can see Kuyt playing his natural role as a striker when Torres has had enough. I really think Konchesky was a far more important signing than another striker. We shouldn't have two strikers on the pitch anyway - much better to have attacking midfielders, seeing as there are three (variably) of them as opposed to two strikers, and aslong as they can finish and shoot from range, are much more dangerous on the attack.

I honestly think Roy has pulled together a decent squad, can't wait to see how Pacheco and Babel will develop under him.

The bid is believed to be in the region of £150 mill and 2 barrels of Uranium.

RE: Churchill: Why did gerrard and torres stay? ?"

"1>Joe Cole came to liverpool because he knew lfc don't have a left sided player, wanted guaranteed game time at his age. The club is big enough for him to end his career here. pluss beni leaving other way chelsea"

My good fellow, you make a sound case, and I respect that. But Spurs would have given him plenty of game time, no matter what Mr Capello seems to think of him. And I also remember Mr Cole's own quote about how he felt when he walked onto the pitch in a CL semi for Chelsea, and how it stuck with him like no other atmosphere. And he knew about how the fans are, from Steven Gerard. LFC is special. Its impossible to define why, as I tried to say. It just is, and he knew it. If you get put on the pitch to play, and if you commit yourself to the job, then the LFC fans will get behind you no matter how skillful or successful you are. They recognise effort as well as results, and maybe that helps some players?

"2>how do u know ther are 150 million fans worldwide? just wondering because we can't find 100,000 people to invest £5k in fan-buy-the-club scheme. So how do u knw we have 150million fans?"

I must admit, I havent yet verified by asking the 150 million in person. Those are media figures I got from a website ( I think the mirror). But OK, I'll go back and try to find it again. its important enough to want to be sure, but I would also say just google it; 'how many fans does LFC have?' and see what comes up.

"£5 a fan and we have 750million to buy the club.lol"

I literally could not agree with you more. We need to do this. The fans do not even realise that it is them who really hold the power, if they could only organise and act in unison, as the early trade unions did. They are the rightful and moral owners anyway.

3>"LFC is just about the most-watched club on terrestrial TV these days (by neutrals)" im a liverpool fan and i hate the was liverpool played under Benitez. It was boring, unaspirated defensive football. Benitez thought we had standard players, not special 11, so played defensive to get success.

Also Arsenal play better football, Man utd play to win and put in crosses. Liverpool went for a draw, then subt the best players at half-time so they didn't get tired."

Your comments are more about the previous manager than now, but they are still very vaild. I would not dispute most of the details, but the fact is the same- LFC gets the highest neutral viewer numbers. Again, its easily checkable- channel 5's Europa league LFC viewer numbers will probably be higher than Spurs CL games on ITV. No offence to Spurs, its just the way it is with LFC for some reason.

"4> past glories, the fact is liverpool have never won the premership title and nothing for 20 years, stop talking about 70 + 80. We have been a bit of cup team in champions league and now that's over."

Again, I cannot dispute your facts about the scarcity of recent succeses, and I sense your understandable frustration at the lack of recent success, but I grew up watching those invincible LFC teams in the 80s, so its a little unfair to ask me to stop referring to them. And I can't help thinking that we might soon return to that sort of mental attitude. Also, I mention it because it is very important to remember that 'never surrender' mentality in these more jaded and commercially-minded times.

"5> you think because scousers have money they can't play football. You may be right; poor areas may produce footballers because childern didn't have PS2.Xbox, computers, fatty foods, SKY tv. But now even poor areas suffer from PS2 fifa kids. instead of playing in parks.

Liverpool is very well to do city, but the people still believe they are poor.lol"

No, I wasnt suggesting a causal link between the footballing ability of scousers and their wealth, and I apologise if it seemed that I was. If there is an issue there, it is national, not just for LFC.

6>"Ironically, nowadays the city is not so badly affected by those problems, but the fortunes of the club have fallen from their previous dizzy heights".

Maybe the youth development needs building at LFC"

One thing that is coming out loud and clear from RH is he refers a lot to youngsters. And we do have some truly outstanding talent. There are strikers even younger than Ngog in the Academy who if given the same game time as him would probably perform even better. The youngsters are looking pretty damn good, to be honest. I watched Suso earlier on LFC tv and he looks very very good. Also we have Shelvey, Pacheco, Wilson who seem very close to regualr senior football, plus all the youngsters. In two years time there is the core of a monster team in that lot. I don't

"and i think the future is far for rosy."

Well I can't offer any comment on that, other than we each look at the trends and the signs, and we see the future the way see it.
But remember, if a team went into a game thinking things were far from rosy, they'd have a tougher time than if they tried to be positive about it. And for once, common sense agrees with at in the case of LFC. This season may or not be wrecked by a 9 point deduction, and maybe we won't gek in time to play well enough, or Torres will get injured next week, but that is temporary- after that LFC will only go upwards, and you know what? Its about bloody time

I think at the moment i can safely say as a lifelong reds fan we are all hurting so badly over what is happening to our great club and regardless of what is said or written in media circles i do not think we will get any answers until october time!
but. . in my heart of hearts i still keep hoping that an extremely rich liverpool fan, who is devastated by what is going on at the moment will step forward and save us, mind you in the world of high finance billionaires do not become billionaires by being sentimental do they!
lets just hope that when RBS send H&G packing that we are sold to somebody who at least gives a s*it about the club and us, its fans.
