13 players can I have some of what your having only man u can play that many ha

13 players with 2 goalies playing 4-3-3-1? Should be an interesting game! Reckon we will win handsomely!

So your formation is a 12 man first team (4-3-3-1).
With a 13 man first team, with Reina and Jones playing.
Also, you only have five players on the bench, that's ambitious.

Hopefully, you are wrong.
We play with a 11 man team.
With 7 players as substitutes.

So Reina is up front and 5 defenders in the back 4?

Also Ibe played in the youth cup semi final against chelsea so it is a bit much to expect him to be on the bench.

McB

Not only is Jones in the team WITH Pepe. He's playing in behind Sturridge, by the looks of it.

I think we're all forgetting that time Reina played in midfield.
LA

At least we would win! ;-)

Hey eds, sorry if this has already been answered, but has Toby Alderverweireld actually made these comments about Liverpool meeting his criteria and Newcastle not? Cheers. {Ed002's Note - Alderverdejanderwierdbananaeld answered pointed questions with a forked tongue - quotes are oft meaningless without seeing them in context.}

Ed.
"answered pointed questions with a forked tongue"
I have never heard that. There's a new one for the repertoire.
Cheers!

Red7.

Should meet the fans criteria of a big name player with that many letters in his name.

Eds 001/2. If the choice was your's, who would you buy for your team. Eriksen or Alcantara? {Ed002's Note - I would hope to have another choice.}

Hey lfc fans

Oh man. I was sure I read that lfc U18 were good!

I think they are unfit and very weak physically
Only 2 good players. Ibe and sinclair. and maybe peterson.
Chelsea team look powerful and fit

Reminds me of the first team. Liverpool are weak as hell and have no strong players, we always get bullied in prem games.

But I think the reserve or u21 for lfc r supposedly good
Alex c

You prob were top of your game at 16 -18 were u

Poor banter. Watched them an awful lot myself (ie not just this one match) and being as objective as possible in my assessment, the talent there is clear and obvious. We'll get a few very good first teamers out of this crop I'm sure.

DP

I'm not entirely sure whether Alex c is being a troll or is actually a Liverpool fan being so unbelievably negative off one performance by the youth team?

JFT 96

JP

Get a grip mate chelsea have won the youth cup twice in the last two years with this side our lads were a lot younger on average so give them a break I thought they played ok just lacked experience!

The lfc players are overated and chelsea looked like a proper team, just like the first teams sadly.

Alot of those players won't make it, but I think Rossiter, Dunn, Ibe and McLaughlin all look good (Dunn not last night) and add them to Joao Teixiera, Suso, Sterling and Wisdom and the crop of youth players is infact much better than you are making out

Chelsea look very impressive boga looks a amazing prospect for them

Ibe is a real handful when he runs at people

Basy {Ed002's Note - A great deal is expected of Boga.}

12 Apr 2013 21:42:35
I can see that ed 002 you boys have some amazing youngsters boga is really inpressive

We have lussey and ibe who did well the rest looked bit weak need a lot more time to develope

Basy

Chelsea kids are much faster and look dangerous. Apart from Ibe our kids are quite poor tbh I don't rate the rest of them they've a long way to go to break into the squad. But hey they're only young and our future stars are already in the squad. Sterling and Suso are going to be awesome

Boga will turn out to be a great player in my opinion. Kowomya scored 2 great goals too and Chelsea as a team looked fantastic. I feel Chelsea deserve their lead but I think 2-0 is a bit harsh on the lads. Lussey getting injured was the turning point and Chelsea took full advantage. I think we are capable of getting a result in the return leg but it would be a huge ask. However the future looks bright and I wouldn't be surprised to see the likes of Rossiter, McLaughlin, Ibe and Sinclair feature in the first team next year. Jack Dunn is another player to watch out for, on form he is a fantastic player to watch. Unlucky today but here's hoping they can turn it around next week. Also Ed what age is Boga? Wouldn't be surprised to see him get a run out for the first team next year!
Cheers,
LS7. {Ed002's Note - Boga is 16 I think and will not be in teh first team next year.}

16? Ah sorry Ed thought he would of been nearly 18! Maybe not next season but surely will get a couple of games the season after because by then he should be 18/19 and would be more than capable of challenging for a place on the bench. Looks exciting though Ed!
Cheers,
LS7. {Ed002's Note - I have yet decided who will be playing a couple of games for Chelsea the season after next - sorry.}

12 Apr 2013 22:33:52
rossiter was useless tonight, there are atleast 15 other players who deserve a chance ahead of him. He just 16 and seems to need a lot of developing to do before he is ready to play U21 football let alone first team football. Maybe in 3 years, certainly not next year.

Malak

Yes just seen it there Ed Boga only turned 16! His ability at the age of 16 is incredible!
Cheers,
LS7. {Ed002's Note - The single most influential person at Chelea in regards of the playing staff has pulled him - and a couple of other to be fair - aside to make it clear that they should concentrate on their game, their schooling and listen to folks who know better than they. If you want, this is the ultimate statement that they shold never take the route that took the talent of Pogba, and it is an astonishing talent, and sent him elsewhere. Boga has, I am told, significant potential but it needs to be nurtured and allowed to take a natural route.}

Agreed Ed I would hate to see a talent like that go to waste. As long as he behaves himself and keeps his head down he will be a very special player!
Agreed Malak Rossiter didn't play well tonight but he is still an exciting young prospect! I didn't mean to say he will be in the team next year (although may get an appearance in a cup game), but the others may be tried especially Ibe! By the way Salah was fantastic the other night, you really know a good Egyptian prospect when you see one! ;)
Cheers,
LS7.

A little harsh on Rossiter Malak, tonight was not his best game but he was the youngest player on the field I think, playing against A vastly more experienced Chelsea midfield of Loftus-Cheek, Baker and Swift who played every game in the Youth Cup last year and like he did against Arsenal in the NextGen semi, added momentum to the Chelsea side. He was not helped by Lussey going off injured and Branagan was a surprise inclusion for me. Given his talent and recent form Dunn was the disappointment for me and I think Cooper made a mistake in playing him up front as he struggled to impact the game from there. Rossiter is definitely ready for U21 football he has made massive strides has incredible potential and you just can't judge him on one game against one of the country's best and highly paid youth sides in the country.
DT

13 Apr 2013 11:25:35
I hope so DT for Liverpools sake:)
But I would have liked to see Baio & Sinclair start, and played Dunn behind Sinclair! Dunn was disapponting I agree and am sorry for using a harsh word!
But don't you agree that he is way to young to play first team football?

Malak

none of those youth players will ever be regulars in Chelsea's first team. Chelsea buy players when they need a spot to fill, they don't bleed youth into there first team. There youth players all go out on loan and then simply never come back {Ed001's Note - McEachran has had plenty of time in the team, before going out on loan, he will get chances. It was simply a lack of quality youth that stopped them getting game time, you are ignorant of any facts.}

Just trying to piss ed 002 off a bit (light banter), I am truly a bit ignorant about Chelsea's youth set up, but honestly with all the money that Chelsea has I don't see why they wouldn't do it like that (just buy new players). and yeah McEachran is not a regular. and won't probably be going back to Chelsea? Or am I wrong ed? {Ed001's Note - yes, very wrong. If he is good enough, he will play, it comes down to him being good enough to make a place his own. McEachran was a regular, but didn't step up, so he was sent out on loan to get regular football, in the hope it would be enough for him to raise his game. It takes at least ten years for a new youth set up to really take effect, there is no doubt Chelsea's intent to supply the team with players coming through their academy and supplement them with a few stars. It is just that the academy has yet to produce the players.}

Hey Malak, I agree, I think pretty much all of them are a shade too young for the first team bar Ibe maybe. Sinclair has been out for a long time that must be the reason why he did not start and I too was very disappointed that both Baio and Trickett-Smith did not play. Dunn is amazing and I can only think that fitness was an issue for him, I like him off the striker but for me his best position is on the left of a three man attack - the kid is the Scouse Ortega! The lads gave it a go last night, didn't take their chances and ran out of steam at the end, but it's not over there is another 90 minutes to go and if it clicks for us at the Bridge we can definitely get on the scoresheet - it will be very difficult though habibi!

12 Apr 2013 21:15:00
Big blow for Liverpool with Lussey going off injured, let's hope he's OK for the return leg.
Cheers,
LS7.

Lets be honest guys and girls LFC youth were a bit dispointing on the night but hey the same can be said about our first team! out of last nights team I would say we have several very very good young players rossiter is going to be avery good player at 16 he has so much potential Ibe he is a special special talent that we need to bring through he has the possibility of a career simular to the great John Barnes I thought we lost that game last night when Ibe was taken off bad move by cooper Dunne has great potential but he is not a center forward jones the center half at 17 has potential lussey excellent player great potential Mcca at right back great potential the common denominator people is the whole team are still only potential we had susso sterling and wisdon break through I have no doubt some of these kids will to one last thing playing against players at youth level who are a year or two older does make a massive diffrence our lads gave as much as they could on the night a lesson will be learnt experiance gained and a plan by the manager to reverse the result next week {Ed001's Note - Ibe was taken off because he was struggling.}

Huge 1st team similarities then?!

12 Apr 2013 21:38:10
hehe, but to be honest, he is playing with a lot of wrong players and far too negative tactics. and 2-0 as am writing :P

Malak

Now I tend to agree with your first line.
Really poor play from all not a single player looked good & genuinely don't know why we have kept Peterson till now.
Secondly God knows why our Damn scouts couldn't find the likes of Boga and Feruz.

12 Apr 2013 19:57:03
is Flanno highly rated by the club or is he likely to go?

12 Apr 2013 21:19:22
likely to go

Malak

He's likely to go but only as he hit the club at a time when we had great depth in his role - he's a solid prem player of the future.

Try and get some cash for him as he is not up to what we need same as robinson and many more over rated players from our desperate academy, just look at the team v chelsea last night footbal is all about opinions and the people who get the young players for lfc do not seem to have the same opinions as to what is a good young player as the likes of the ones with opinions at aston villa, chelsea and arsenal just my opinion sorry

12 Apr 2013 19:55:54
I wouldn't worry to much about us being after Williams, its just easy journalism.

I know Rodgers bought rubbish in the summer, bit in January he learned by his mistakes and bought players used to playing on the big scene.

LAVERS

30M is a pretty expensive mistake
G

And 35m was an even bigger mistake.

12 Apr 2013 19:40:09
do any of the eds know what the situation is with john flanagan? I assume he'll be leaving in the summer s andre wisdom is now the preferred back up at RB and especially with the up and coming ryan mclaughlin who I think should be given a chance to impress in pre season. sorry if this has been asked before {Ed001's Note - it has but don't worry, the likelihood is he will be moving on, he was tried in central midfield, but it has not worked out for him. I expect him to drop down a couple of divisions and then gradually work back up, probably to the Championship. Unfortunately, he lacks the pace for a modern day full back.}

First half,

Kristoffer Petterson & Jordan Ibe look very good.
Llyod Jones is a Giant for a 17 year old.
Jack Dunn looks tired after he just came back from injury.
And the ref is wearing blue linces tonight.

-----------Lucas-Henderson-----------
-----------------------------------------
---Sturridge---Gerrard---Coutinho---
-----------------------------------------
-----------------Suarez----------------

if our midfield and attack lined up like this next season would you be satisfied or do you think we need more additions to the starting lineup? also, if it was up to you, realistically who would you want us to sign? lastly, i'd like to see peoples opinions on how the back 4 will line up next season, that's all!
a very bored.

Jackoo

If injured who replaces them, that's the problem

Lucas is bog standard

majestic69

Reina/Jones/Ward

Johnson/Wisdom
Williams/Kelly
Agger/Sama
Enrqiue/Robinson

Gerrard/Shelvey
Lucas/Allen
Eriksen/Henderson/Suso

Suarez/Ayew
Coutinho/Sterling
Bony/Sturridge/Borini

25 man squad all able to cover each other.

Lucas is a bogger alright

Swap hend and gerrard. Swap sturridge and suarez too.

12 Apr 2013 18:35:58
Just read on a site real are willing to part with cash and gonzalo H for suarez dunno how true it is but if u have any info I'd appreciate it thanks JON96

12 Apr 2013 19:02:07
Doesn't work like that, Higuain would not be intrested in coming to Liverpool without CL.
Also Real-Madrid is after Aguero, not Suarez. Yet
Bayern, Juventosh, and maybe man-rubbishty if their new manager wants him (but who wouldn't) are the teams who are intrested so far, but wouldn't be surprised to see PSG or Real Madrid to be intrested later in the window! Price just goes up!

Malak

It's not true, he wants to move to london!

City fans don't want Suarez. Much rather keep Aguero.

His mrs has got a job in london so I think maybe london

12 Apr 2013 18:14:08
I'm getting worried that the Ashley Williams rumours seem to be hotting up. I can't believe Rodgers is willing to pay £12m, for another average Swansea player. surely there's much better players than him out there, for that kind of money. next year is a massive year for Rodgers, failure to qualify for the champions league and I firmly belive he'll be sacked. signing average players like Williams will not help us in our search for a return to the promise land.

He hasn't signed him just yet mate, just speculation, if he does sign him then its time to worry haha, much rather play kelly or wisdom at CB than Williams if it was my decision.

Jackoo

12 Apr 2013 20:38:54
If he signs Williams for £ 12 million and he is a faliure and we fail to qualify to the CL, don't worry, FSG will be the first to let him walk alone. I believe in BR, but I believe he learns from his mistakes, not repeat them and continue the excuses. Specially if he keeps Suarez. So I really hope stays far far away from Williams, no shortage of good footballers.

Malak

Truly believe this is just because he's a Swansea player. I really don't see us going for him.

On a brighter side if reports are true we are close on Alderweireld.

Jonesred

Please oh please don't sign Williams, we already have better players.

12 Apr 2013 17:02:05
is there any chance we're going to have a bid of around 17m for eriksen because i've heard ajax are asking
for that price.

Heard have you? Who r u like?

Not a chance he will go to spurs for half that!

12 Apr 2013 17:00:23

12 Apr 2013 18:39:47

We may have £ 35 million to spend on 3 players.

Don't get me started on that adebayor penalty, was he taking secret rugby try outs during the penalty shoot out, I heard its already caught up with adams penalty from last years, but don't worry guys no aliens were hurt in the taking of the penalty. Strange run up as well, did he need the loo.

How does anyone in their right mind think walker is better than Johnson. He's like the Walcott of the defence, does something good once in a while then runs like a headless chicken, really fast. My mate came over yesterday and when I had the kyle walker mistake on playback, let's just say he suddenly lost the urge to watch football anymore.

Lil Red

Walker is awful. i'm a blue, and just watching him, johnson is clearly the betterfullback

12 Apr 2013 15:20:44
As our scouts have been watching plenty of Ajax games I think we were looking at Toby alderwield not eriksen in my opinion

Or maybe looking at both

Both 25million wouldn't be bad work

The greatest goal ever scored for Liverpool was -

I curled it back into play from the near post round the keeper and nestled it just past the far post with my first touch whilst wearing my Liverpool shirt. Before anyone thinks I'm bragging, it's the third goal I've ever scored but it was worth the wait. Best goal in an LFC shirt ever

Gary Mac Derby Winner :-)

"Lovely cushioned header, for GERRAAAARD! OH YA BEAUTAYYY, WHAT A HIT SON, WHAT A HIT"
Best goal for me just because of how I felt at the time and what it resulted in us achieving! :)
Cheers,
LS7.

For me it was Gerrards against Olympiakos! WHAT A HIT SON!

Terry Mcdermott last goal in the 7-1 win against spuds in '77 (I think it was 77 anyway but memory isn't what it was!)

Steven gerrards last minute v olympikas was a great goal and ended up being even more important!

for importance gerrard cl final, my personal fav was ronnie Whelan semi final 1985 against utd. whelan really did come up with some gems the 1 against utd league cup 1983, the 1 against us for utd best og you will ever see and the 1 he scored for Ireland against Russia has to be 1 of the most underrated players Liverpool ever had but that's the type of player you need to win leagues he could play but if the going got tough he never went missing. My Dad took me to the game, for my tenth birthday, he made me crawl under the turnstyles. he was a buirminghan fan, Blues fans ran at the Liverpool fans and my dad had a fight with a blues fan. Supported the reds every since.!! Footydan

That goal when I dribbled past 50 blind people and chipped the goalie who was facing the wrong way. On a more serious note gerrard's goal v olympiacos, it had everything, technique, timing and perfect commentary. Although for outrageousness I'd also put forward Suarez's goal from the half way line.

Lil Red

Tamworth chris - I love that goal, beating spuds like that what a performance that day. Stevie heighways cross on the run was perfection the ball from kennedy (i think) again perfection and the run and finish from terry mc was unbelievable. I think it is the greatest goal ever at Anfield, only my opinion but that goal epitimises how simple and beautiful football is and should be - just a great goal that capped a wonderful performance against spuds including ossie ardiles, ricky villa so I think it was 78 (memory not what it used to be- as they signed them after the 78 world cup again I think)
might not have been the most important goal, Gerard "what a hit" was probably that but the most beautiful has to be TERRY Mc

What about the 31 pass goal, finished by Torres?

Another Swansea player rumoured to be coming to LFC? Do our scouts all live in Swansea? Coates has not been given a proper chance, Oldham could've happened to anyone. Carragher's bloomer against Zenith did not get as much publicity as Coates' bad game against Oldham, so give the lad a chance. He was (before the Brendan Rodgers treatment) one of south America's hottest prospects! We're selling big Andy for peanuts (he doesn't fit in the system!), keeping Borini (ex Swansea) and getting Williams (actually Swansea). the mind boggles! A big enough offer for Suarez and BR might feel he has the system to cope with replacement, probably Michu!. (nightmare scenario)
No idea, no system that really works, no plan B. I feel extremely worried about the future of my beloved Liverpool FC. extremely!

An idea even if you don't like the idea, a system that is likely to give us more points and has already bought us more goals than last year and possibly the last few years and how many different formations do you need Rodgers to play, sometimes switching mid match, before you stop saying no plan b (unless to you, the only valid plan b is to lump it up to a big CF)? Fair enough you're worried, times are hard but seriously, that's how your putting it?

I guess these are the same scouts who got in Coutinho, borini and assaidi. Or perhaps the ones who go in suarez as well? Or maybe the ones who are scouting Tom Ince and half the Ajax team. Maybe

-No our scouts are all around the world! And that's a well known fact. Another fact is that you shouldn't take what the papers write so seriously because if you do, well you better get your head checked. (We are not in for Williams)
-Oldham couldn't happen to anyone if they were any good nooo! (i. e it happened to Skrtel as well)
-What rodgers treatment you plank?! I have never seen Coates play regularly for us even under Daglish the one who bought him!
-Bye bye to Andy Carroll, 99% of the real fans see he doesn't fit at any team other than a hoof ball team, (i. e Stoke & Westham) so you would rather like us to play like that? NOOOOO THANKYOU a MILLION times! I question if you are a real RED because I really can't imagine any real Liverpool supporters wanting a drunk at the club!
-Why shouldn't we keep Borini? (ex-Chelsea & Roma & 22 year old Italy International) He has been injured and played out of position! He will come back and make your likes eat your words, just like Jordan Henderson is doing to you and your likes who bashed him completly right now! (you propably will also say I always supported him, BS)
-Again we are not getting Williams you plank!
-No offer will even be considered if Suarez doesn't push for the move himself. So again WRONG.
-Michu? He has never been of interest and never will be.
-No idea? you are propably talking about yourself so you are 'right' there.
-No system? LOL
-No Plan B tosh again?
We have started games is 5 different systems and "plans" 3-5-2, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2, 4-2-4.

I feel extremly worried as well, but only because of your likes, if 10 % of our supporters are like this we are in trouble, with no long-term vision, can't understand we are rebuilding, moving on players, restructuring the wage bill and pushing through youngsters. I feel woried about anyone wanting to keep Andy Carroll at the club even though he failed misrabley under Kenny Daglish and the "system" in place just to suit his ass!
I feel extremly worried that there is no patience and also feel extremly worried about you and your likes having amnesia, speaking and banging on and on with the clueless rubbish like we won the league last year or was in the CL semi-final last year or something. And before you open your mouth Kenny Daglish took us to Wembley and bla bla, IT WAS STILL HIS 2ND YEAR WITH THE TEAM.
Are you phsycic? how do you know we won't win a cup next year?! Comical clown that is what you and your likes are, this BS 'am worried about the direction we are headed' is just that BS. because if you wasn't a clown you would understand we are going in the right direction!

Hello Eds,
are we really interested in Ashley Williams at the reported 12 million price?
If true I would really be disappointed firstly because he is not that good and secondly because we are repeating the same mistake as Kenny's year giving another Premier League opposition enough dough to make them good like we did with Newcastle.
Personally if we really lack funds for a top class CB why not just go all out to sign Douglas and Ambroita (spelling) both for free. Thus having options of Kelly, Agger, Douglas and Ambroita at Centre Back.

Hello Eds and Fellow kopites,
a genuine topic of discussion :
It seems we are seriously interested in erikson who would likely cost atleast 12-15 million pounds. Would you like the club to buy erikson or go for a top quality DM for the same price say Wanyama, Capoue, Medel, etc.?
In other words what does the team lack more a playmaker or some steel in midfield considering our budget we can only go for one.
I personally hope the gaffer realises the need for a top class DM and goes all out for one and then give SUSO or TEXEIRA a real go at AM and just see them flourish. With Gerrard and say Wanyama behind them they will no doubt be more confident of attacking as we will have most of the ball in every game.
On another note with both Suso and Texeira coming through alongwith Dan Trikket Smith I see no real sense in buying an AM.
OPINIONS ARE APPRECIATED.

12 Apr 2013 14:28:04
If we have a genuine interest in Eriksen, and a good chance of him coming to us, and we could afford him I think we'd be silly to miss out on the opportunity to have him playing for us. He is absolute class. Lucas isn't fully fit at the moment, and will be much better next season I feel. We could do with a back up, but we shouldn't be spending a huge amount on a bit part player. We have Kelly returning who I think could fill Carras boots, and then reinvest money from any defenders leaving in replacing them. Just a thought

Right well I personally think a DM is more of a necessity than an AM.
HOWEVER, if I was offered Erikson or Wanyama than 100% I would pick Erikson as he is far and beyond a better player.

Surely it's a good thing having 'more' good players. We need someone in that position to replace Gerrard in the future, maybe Eriksen is the guy

The thing with Eriksen is if he comes at some stage he will leave for Spain if he reaches his potential. Although signing him for fifteen million now and selling him for 40 let's say down the line while the youth grow doesn't sound to bad! P. s don't think wanyama doesn't have the ability on the ball for Rogers style of play IMO

Have we submitted plans for planning permission yet?
Given how long it took to come to a decision on moving or staying I would of imagined a very thorough costing process would have taked place, surely this would have required plans for the work? {Ed002's Note - The whole process is complicated and will take years to complete. I understand plans should soon be submitted.}

Cheers Ed

It's a shame big Andy has struggled with injuries this season, I think he has looked very good for west ham when I've seen him and I think his goals/assists would have been impressive if he'd had a full season. I'm not saying get him back by the way, but I have nothing against the lad, and it would have done his transfer value the world of good.

Just like with us, he's been largely ineffective but with some spells of astonishingly good games and a few woefully bad games

Its seems like spec-savers should start advertising on this sight as everyone is so short sighted.

People seem unable/unwilling to take anything more than League position into account in terms of where we are at.

We had a shocking start because of limited options up front and adjusting to what Rodgers wants. However, since the first 14 games we are averaging more points per game than Tottenham, Everton, Arsenal & Chelsea.

So we have clearly improved, we are just paying the price for a very poor start. If we can hit the ground running next year, which we have very chance of doing as we already have a much better squad than at the start of the year, plus hopefully a few additions in the summer, there is no reason why we can't challenge for top 4.

The constant abuse of some players is also ridiculous. I have seen some players absolutely slated. Just because they have been poor for a few games. A lot of these players are young and have been injured. Therefore, coming back and not being fully fit, or playing while injured in the case of Joe Allen.

BR has made a few mistakes this year. However, it appears that he learns from them and he too will be a much better manager after this year.

Before you start criticising everyone take a step back and look at the context. You might just realise that actually, it isn't all that bad.

Rant Over

Maybe you need the rose tint removed from your glasses!

Thats a spot on review of the season mate. let's keep the main players this summer and add quality ( as BR keeps saying ) to the group and we will be well placed.
Last year we started good and were terrible after Xmas, this year it has been the opposite, now let's play well for a whole year and we will be good.
We have a young team who will have beneffited from this year, Ill be happy with 3/4 good signings and sinnaly start work on the ground myself.

Hi eds, most people on this site would agree that we need another defensive midfield player.
Are there any we have shown a particular interest in?
Spain has a few very good ones: Camacho of Malaga, Gary Medel of Sevilla or Mario Suarez of Atletico.
Thanks {Ed052's Note - None are of interest, although I know Medel is a player a lot of us would like to buy}

I typed up a long post the other day which unfortunately never made it onto the site regarding our support at present.

Much can be said about the lack of atmosphere at Anfield and when things don't go accordingly, how quick we are to jump on the players, managers and owners backs.

What I forgot to mention and also praise was the terrific global following we have. We have fans who would travel the world quite literally to watch our boys play, who stay up until the very early hours of the morning to watch the games on television just to get a glimpse of their heros and will turn out in full house numbers to attend pre-season games.

Many of us (including myself) have the facility of watching games at convinient times, living within a hours travel of the stadium but still we moan more than we cheer and take for granted the entertainment and joy that Liverpool should bring to us all.

Millions and millions of 'supporters' would give a arm and quite possible a leg to be in the position that many of us are, maybe we should be a bit more thankfull that we have these privellages.

It would be great to hear from some of our fans across the globe and heat it from their side on teh lengths they go to support Liverpool

Many Thanks

I live in Northmaptonshire and its over a 400 mile round trip for me to get there. As well as that I'm on a modest apprentice wage of £9k a year, which is half wiped out by fuel, tax and insurance for my car. The other half is then spent on food and birthday/Christmas gifts for people. I have about £1000 of disposable income (most of which I spend on leisure activities such as the gym and dates), but I work Monady to Saturday and spend the only remaining day of the week I have free with my beautiful Girlfriend. I managed to get down to see one game in preseason. I enjoyed chanting Hyypias name and seeing Sterling score a screamer. I am a die hard fan, who reads the forums and news pages every day, never misses a game thanks to LFC tv's midnight showings and would give a half my manhood to live close enough, and be rich enough to attend every game.

I spend a lot of money on Merchandise buying my two favourite shirts of our 3 released every season, I read all the players books, and have collected lots of memorabilia including a leather bound book of Liverpool history which cost me over £80. To say I'm offended when people call me an armchair fan or a false supporter, would be an understatement. If Liverpool lose, I'm instantly depressed. If they win, I could climb a mountain!

The club was my first love, just don't tell my Girlfriend that ;)

What a waste this season has been!oh I forgot we are in transition but rodgers spending 50m doesn't mean nothing rite. I thought chelsea signed 5players this season aren't they meant to be in transition to?

just look at the table where we are contending with the likes of swansea westbrom and everton, when we spend 3times more than all these clubs in the transfer market.

If Fsg are not interested in Liverpool they should sell. we need owners who know about football and if they don't hire those well qualified to run the club. they have already spent enough money for us to be in top4 and its all their fault for not hiring the right personnel to make it happen. kenny could have easily gotten us into top4 if he was given a second year but they rather give a manager without managerial experience to do just that

Brendan and his fan club can give all the excuses they want but if we don't make top4 next year, he should be shown the door and he can take allen and borini along {Ed001's Note - so spent 3 times as much, despite us losing money, and you suggest they are not interested? Bizarre how lunatic some people's ideas are.}

R u for real with that post so who would we bring in again to sort us out fsg stated at the beginning they won't throw money they don't have at the club they saved us from the mess we were in from hicks and Gillette do you want us to end up like that again of course they are interested in lpool or they wouldn't of spent so much money bailing the club out asfor I think they made a decision on Rodgers looking forward for the club maybe 2-3 years from now people want instant success but it doesn't happen and if you can't see the improvement in play and squad then that's your problem think the majority of fans can see that yes think the summer is very important for us but it won't instantly happen next season either br is building a squad for years to come

Guys your prediction on the Reading game.
they are bottom of the table.
we must win.
anyone here seems the other way?

12 Apr 2013 12:28:57
It seems they have more to play for than us, the distant hope of fourth vs the battle to avoid relegation. Reading will probably turn up and fight for their lives, but if we turn up we'll win. It's our game to lose, I wouldn't be surprised by any result, we could batter them 5-0 or lose 3-0 the way our season has gone. If I was a betting girl I'd say we'll win 2-0, having said that I'd never bet against us!

In a recent internet poll Joe Allen was voted the worst signing of the season. Borini was third that says a lot about Br the votes take in to account price paid and the stats of the players. Joe Allen cost 15 million and 2.5 million signing on fee and has contributed less than snodgrass, and even o'neil at west ham. Who both cost less than 4 million.

BR sees Allen as the future

12 Apr 2013 11:33:47
Joe Allen hasn't done anything wrong particularly, he just hasn't set the league alight like we hoped he would. He has had a bad patch, but taking into consideration his injury this is hardly surprising. At the start of the season he couldn't put a foot wrong. No Hollywood passing, but kept the midfield ticking over, and kept tabs on much bigger players than him like Fellaini. I don't get why he is getting all this abuse. His price tag isn't his fault or our concern. I know many of us feel we could have got better for the price, but BR had only a few weeks to assess the squad and could only go with what he knew! I think if we are going to react like this we should avoid expensive signings at all costs, say FSG go mad and listen to us supporters and fork out £55m for Cavani and he takes his time to adapt to the prem, it would be the same thing over again! Allen and Borini need to be judged when they have actually had some playing time, and even then if it still isn't working out they deserve a little more respect than for supporters of the team they play for calling them rubbish! Confidence is really important in football, and us knocking them down all the time isn't going to make them play better. I would prefer Hendo to be playing at the moment than Allen, but that's because Hendo has obviously been training hard and busting a gut to improve. The competition does the whole squad good, and I'm sure Allen will come good once fit with more competition for his position. Borini just needs some games!

Super

Think it's unfair to judge such a young player coming to a massive club after one season, especially when no one apart from Squarez has played well consistently. Allen's a good footballer.
Les

Well that's cheered me up, at least we're top of a league in something, especially when you factor in Andy Carroll - we must be top of the worst buyers table.

Does this mean you would like to see players like Snodgrass and O'Neil at Liverpool? In my opinion they are not good enough for us so I don't see how you can compare Joe Allen to those players.

I'd agree but where would sturridge and coutinho be? furthermore this summer we are targeting:
alderwield
williams
eriksen
plus a right winger who will probably be Ben Arfa.

There will be a lot of outgoings meaning the kids will have the chance which is important as they have shown they are good enough to be squad players.

Did someone really post optimistically about Williams in the summer? I sincerely hope that was sarcastic otherwise we will have a divisive component in our locker room who is likely to top this list next year.

Have Rodwell and Sinclair really been much better?

So cheslea probably with a similar squad like us. is in FA cup semifinal probabaly a Europa league waiting and a top 4.
apart from hazzard and mata. they are rubbish.
only team who doesn't have a striker is chelsea, still manages to be in top 4.
their midfield is worse than us. we have more midfielders than anyone else.
but they bought two extra ordinary players who slotted directly into the so called physicallity of EPL.

hazzard and Mata.

Is this transition only with Liverpool FC?
we are the best in so called excuses.

Rubbish. going into this season, Chelsea were in a far better position than we have been for the last 4 years.

They also have a Cech in form, Cole is still an excellent player while new recruits like Cahill, Oscar, Ba, Moses and even Azpilucueta has had good seasons. Also, Lampard continues to score goals, important goals.

Having more midfielders does not mean our midfield is better than Chelsea's and
they do play with a striker either Torres or Ba

The only LFC players able to get into the chelsea team would be Gerrard & Suarez

What you think Reina is btter than Cech?

You think Sturridge is better than Torres or Ba?

You think Allen is better than Oscar?

Chelsea have better players loaned out than we have in our first team squad.

We may have more midlfield players than any other team but most of them are well not good, its quality and strength and in deepth that counts not quantity. This is a problem as long as we go on fooling ourseleves the longer we will be in denial of where we really are!

And the more the manic bouts of high and lows will continue after a good or poor result.

You need to be more realistic mate!

where are we going to finish next seaosn?

Another enlightened post by harry.

Sturridge is transparently a better player than Torres

cozinoz

Both parties are getting carried away.
Chelsea have a better squad than us - in the least, in terms of DEPTH. Also, they have more superstars than us. I would say that Allen is better than Oscar, but then again, they play different positions.
However, on most positions our strongest players are at least on par with Chelsea's - Agger, Jonson, Lucas, Gerrard, Coutinho and esp Suarez. Players like Hendo and Allen would make it into Chelsea on a rotational basis, though, of course, not as much as in Liverpool.
Chelsea beat us very clearly in terms of squad balance and cohesion though - we are always underpowered either in attack or in defense, while Chelski have balance, and a right mix of experience and youth.

Drigan

Coutinho would easily walk onto any prem team.

It's hard to take someone seriously when they can't even spell scouser

Sturridge is transparently a better player than Torres

Is that why Chelsea sold him?

Coutinho would easily walk onto any prem team

Yes that's why utd, city and chelsea all went in for him!

Dude. my name was an intentional choice.
and BTW. my incorrect name is not the reason yn Liverpool is in 7th position.
and what's your name?

I would say that Allen is better than Oscar, but then again, they play different positions.

Seriously?

Allen can only pass sideways or backways and he not too clever even at that.

You much be taking the Mickey?

Not even the most zealous LFC fan could put allen ahead of Oscar!
Oscar has playeed brilliantly for Chelsea this season.

I am going to chop my fingers off and pull my eyes out some fans are just plain silly.

FM Merkel

No offence to Allen but not even close to Oscar, that kid is class. Now comparing Coutinho to Oscar I think is a much better debate.

How can you correctly spell a name incorrectly? You must have Problems doing your passport forms.

But in all seriousness, Cole has been awful. Mata has rescued them on more then one occasion, cahill can't defend (chelsea fans even say that) nor can luiz. They have gotten this far from either luck or by not attacking.

I can't believe you think Jo Allen is a better player than Oscar. Do you watch Chelsea?

What on earth is this about? I'm not a fan of Chelsea by any stretch of the imagination, but to call them rubbish is crazy! They have, along with City probably the best squad in the EPL! The fact that they are consistently using a striker who is seriously off form, and STILL winning games proves this. This will not be a problem next season as they have bags of cash to entice a decent striker who wants a fat pay check! They will be challenging next season for sure. LFC are probably only 2 first team players away from challenging, but we still lack in squad depth, which means injuries and suspensions, and ineligibilities has caused us to struggle. To compare us to the Chavs right now is ridiculous.

12 Apr 2013 09:38:45
I was just going through the 2008/2009 season. and those home games which we drew and cost us the title.
Some fans here moan we lost the title with negative tactics.
If you watch that season. we scored more gaols than any other teams.
we had more chance infront of the goals than any other team.
we hit the woodword more than any other team.
we had the best away points in the hsitory.
how on earth then we played negative football is beyond.
we outplayed. outclassed and shatterd all the teams that came to anfield or away.

5 past new castle, 4 at chelsea, 4 at arsenal. 3 at spurs. 3 at everton. 4 at UTD, 5 total against madrid,

what on earth it would take it be possitive tactics buddy?

And yet, we could not win the league. And who do you blame for that?

coz. only KK and BR deserves bad luck, woodword, missed chances, injury problems, wages, transfer money.
extra ordinary excuses for extra ordinary people.

In rafa I trust. who made me dream. like no one in past 15 years.

I blame RAFA and his mad antics especially at fergie

FM Merkel

Sarcastic much?

Now, let's evaluate your points.

Bad Luck: We were not concerned with bad luck so much under Rafa, because we were pulling our hair out with his strange footballing decisions/rants etc.

Woodward: I have no Idea who Woodward is.

Missed chances: We didn't miss many chances because we didn't create many in majority of his seasons in charge.

Injury problems: Rafa bought close to 100 players I think in his 6 seasons, he should have had enough time to build a squad so as to cover for injuries. But he didn't because a large majority of his own signings, he himself sold because he HIMSELF found out they were crap after usually a season.

Wages and Transfer money: I really don't need to explain these. If you can't see that we were on the verge of going into administration because of Rafa, and having learned from that, we are financial much stronger now because we have cut down our wage bill and have been building towards self-sustenance as Ed002 repeatedly points out, I guess this is all wasted on you.

Rafa had 6 seasons at a time when there was a clear divide between the old TOP 4 to achieve things. Apart from 2 Gerrard inspired cup finals, he failed to do so. I like the man, he will have a place in my heart for all what he has done, he failed to achieve his primary goal: the Premier League title. What's more, he didn't plan for the future (apart belatedly putting together the academy improvements, which were all done by the people he bought in as pointed out by Ed001) and left us in a very bad state, so much so that we still havn't recovered from his mistakes. And yes, ultimately it was his fault for not planning ahead when the likes of Tottenham were, so I blame Rafa.

And shame on you for that pathetic dig at the majority of people trying to stay positive here.

The real AG

We lost the league that year because we bottled it, rafa and the players. also feel we punched above our weight in respect of our performances. United was and are used to winning titles, used to the pressure being in a title race brings. we could t handle that if we did I beleave we would of gone on to challenge for years to come and u would all be calling for rafa to be knighted. we threw away the title yes but united s and fergies experience won it for them. so let's put that season in the past and concentrate on the future. get behind rogers and the new young squad he is building

The Daily Mail are reporting that West Ham will offer us £10m for Carroll this summer. Do any of the Eds know if that is true, and if it is do you think we'll accept it?

As far as I remember, it was if west ham satyed up, they had to fork up 17m. but if they wanted to get out of it, they could, in theory, offer the 17m then offer carroll £250 a week before tax. him declining and returning too us. {Ed002's Note - Seemingly not.}

12 Apr 2013 09:33:10
No. that's not true.
There is already a deal in place of 17 mill fee with 1 mill loan which is already payed.
If west ham wants caroll they must pay 17 mill. {Ed002's Note - You really should not believe everything you read.}

If it is true, my bet is we'll take it and move on. AC just did not work out. Ship happens.

Embarrassing really.

No one really wants andy caroll. and probably with the fees.

FACT - BR doesn't want him back

If Carroll was playing for West Ham United permanently and never signed for Liverpool, would any of you pay £17m for him? Exactly.

Liverpool will do well to receive a bid above £12m IMO. Even then they may owe him money for cutting his contract short? Or some sort of loyalty fee.

I must admit that I'm worried by recent developments in our club. Results hasn't been going our way either. first kenny wasted 100m on players like adam and hendo who by no means were upto the mark. nd to make things worse the yankee stooges put Brenda in charge of our club. Brenda who only had a year in top flight has been entrusted for europeans glory. I mean what a joke!! He wasted 18m on that midget allen who barely have the strength to keep up with other players. nd wasted money on borini as well

I hate those silly nd blind fans who say we r improvig because we r not. we r an average team with an average manager trying to manage average group of player (luis nd stevie exception) sitting in average seventh spot. so stop supporting brenda nd the
whole circus this tht has been
happenin in our club. we need to improve nd get sum result. so stop your fake support because if we dnt point out the problems nd stand up agnst it we wnt improve. I remember the electro atmosphere at anfield
henwhen rafa was in charge. u fools that make names of him now loves him. now Brenda with his witless game plan has made our great fortress like a funeral procession. with players like henderson showing his boring heroics.

Cmon guys we must get rid of Brenda nd get a positive atmosphere goin.

#Tahmid Red

We will have a much more positive atmosphere when we get rid of you.

thats not the solution anyways.
But I wished we bought Carlo Anchelotti last summer.
may be he is bit old. but he is a top coach with prooven experience. and would have attracted better players from the world.

Tahmid mate, you justworry about your own manager old red nose and how yous are going to blow your chances!!

Are we back to this. again? Move on its getting boring now! I'm beginning to thing your just another sad Manc or bitter that comes on our page because you've nothing better to do

Since New years day, we have been 3rd on form. So basically, at least 50% of what you're saying is already invalid because a lot of results are going our way.

Average players - I know the jury is still out on many of them but Agger? Coutinho? Exceptional young talent like Suso and Sterling?

Brendon's witless game - we are playing the most attractive football we have played since the Spice Boys football. Whether it is effective or not is another thing, but we are definitely not playing witless football, and the amount of goals we are scoring shows.

And then we have just the general contradiction of the entire message - get rid of the manager who the owners have no obvious intention of getting rid of, and get back the positive atmosphere. Surely getting back the positive atmosphere, forced or not, is something that we can do and can therefore focus on? We don't control the board decisions but we do control the atmosphere, so why use that control to campaign for a negative reaction? Make the players feel special and the opponent feel afraid - if it's not being done on the pitch, we'll do it from the stands

Well said samsam9000!

Any chances of Liverpool targeting anyone from these midfielders

Xherdan Shaqiri
Valentin Stocker
Marvin Martin
Georginio Wijnaldum
Hatem Ben Arfa
Dimitri Payet
tienne Capoue

I would love if atleast one could be signed from among the above players {Ed002's Note - TRy the search engine.}

Ben arfa maybe

Can anyone tell me where FSG are on the Anfield up grade plan.
Has there been any movement towards setting a start date?
I am getting a feeling that things have stalled or are there things happening that are not in the public domain? {Ed002's Note - Nothing can be done in anger until planning is agreed.}

So we're being strongly linked with Williams again.

I really haven't seen enough of him to have a strong opinion.

Has anybody GENUINELY seen much of him? If so, would he be a good signing?

IncaMan

I live in Swansea and I have seen him a few times on the occasions I have been to the liberty. A few of my friends are season ticket holders so go to all the home games, and they rate him highly. He's not the quickest but reads the game well and his positioning is excellent He's also the captain of wales so is used to organising the defence. Would he be a good buy? Depends on the price

He's good but slow and not world class! nowhere nr a 12m valuation. let's just leave swansea players alone

Blows hot and cold. Similar to Skrtel, but not better and definitely not an improvement on Skrtel and Carra.

The real AG

As a player - he's decent and solid, that's about it. As a signing - he is very unlikely to represent value for money and his comments about Suarez could cause friction - Suarez has friends in the squad whether he stays or not and the way Williams talked about him was very unprofessional. If I had a vote, I'd say no

All I know is that no one had heard of him 2 years ago

He makes Chico Flores look like Hypia.

Eds;as Br would be buying few players this summer;is there any possiblity of young players like Sterling;Kelly;Wisdom etc to be sent out on loan for experience?Thanks! {Ed002's Note - Sure, but it is really too early to say who and where to.}

Isn't Kelly 24 this year?

He is 22 sam!
he will be 23 later this month!
And I really doubt we will see him or sterling on loan.
