Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

12 Aug 2016 20:26:20
Hi Ed`s, great job as usual
Its time for us to lift it again
What with the complexities of the transfer market could we see the not wanted going and a couple of players The Kloppster wants in by deadline day.
I just feel this millstone round our necks of wages for doing heehaw could bite us big time the nucleus is there its just a player or 3, and we are ready to raise more than a few pulses in Manc land and the smoke or have I got the rose tinted glasses on, its that close I can taste it honest.
YNWA.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about.}

12 Aug 2016 20:39:43
I copied it in to Google translate and my laptop exploded!

12 Aug 2016 20:44:14
No me. Didn't get any of that! 😂.

12 Aug 2016 21:02:48
Wonder does his mammy know he sneaked under the bed with the laptop

🤔.

12 Aug 2016 21:59:34
Nope, no idea there, even tried turning it upside down. Nothing.

12 Aug 2016 22:21:02
What on earth.

12 Aug 2016 22:26:42
Look at it as a reflection in a mirror. it's even scarier!

12 Aug 2016 23:21:26
Convert it into ones and zeros it gets really interesting.

13 Aug 2016 00:45:17
Hope he's not got work in the morning.

13 Aug 2016 00:09:40
I understood it 😄
Great job eds
It's time for the fans to get excited again
Could we see some fringe players going and some targets coming in by deadline day?
"Millstone round our necks of wsges for doing heehaw" is Balotelli and his ilk I think.
The nucleus of the team is there we just need a player or 3 then we will worry the Mancs and the cockneys (smoke)

I agree with ya Bozrog, except I'd go further and say we are already favourites 😎.

13 Aug 2016 00:28:42
I understood it perfectly 😤 time to get a tattoo now me thinks.

13 Aug 2016 03:01:34
I actually understood it but I can imagine what he talks like in person lol. I agree, I think we all know we need a new left back but it doesn't look like we are getting one. As for the deadwood, it doesn't look like as many are leaving as first projected which is a shame. Probably 1 or 2 more sales and some loans and I think we are done.

13 Aug 2016 04:00:24
Great job Ron.

13 Aug 2016 07:08:07
kman 2 things 1 the transfer window does not close till august 31st, 2 please stop calling players deadwood it is totally disrespectfull, they are players who are surplus to requirements not a western starring ian mcshane and powers boothe.

13 Aug 2016 20:11:31
This is why you shouldn't do crack.

12 Aug 2016 19:16:33
Ed001. I've read your comments regarding player fitness (red/ green zone bollocks) watching Olympics today, Helen Glover being interviewed said they get one day off every 6-7 weeks.
If you and olympians are right, why is the richest sport in the world persevering with faulty fitness drills, strategy.
Is Klopps hard training routines a step in the right direction do you think.
Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - funnily enough I was just discussing this over a coffee with the head of the academy of one of the UAE clubs earlier today. They don't use it here yet, but he thinks it has some uses for helping players avoid injury. I disagree completely and think most of the injuries they pick up are down to a lack of fitness, which is why they are tired.

They do not do enough work in preseason these days, they don't use things like the old Shankly favourite, the sweat box, because players are too pampered and don't want to do the hard work. Football has too many of the wrong people involved, people who come from football just want to use the ball. They are like those parents who suffered badly as children with poverty etc so spoil their own kids to compensate. They will listen to anything that says what they want to hear.

The truth is that they are training players wrong, for short sprints, rather than for an endurance event, which is what a game of football is. Footballers, on average, cover much more distance than any other team sport when it was measured last year. So you can't use the training from the likes of basketball as a basis, because they are not covering anything like the same distances. You have to look at cross country running etc, endurance and stamina is what is key. Just ask Leicester, who had the hardest training regime in the Prem. They also had the least injuries and the least rotation.}

12 Aug 2016 22:06:28
Olympians train to "peak" once maybe twice a season. The comment around one day off in six weeks was referring to training in the build up to the one event.

Footy is totally different.

12 Aug 2016 22:09:16
Except for Aussie Rules Ed, those guys are ridiculously fit.

12 Aug 2016 23:27:39
That is nonsense Beddoe. Olympic athletes also compete in national competitions, world championships, Continental championships etc.

I've seen cyclists in the tour de France put footballers to shame. You think they can just miss a stage of the tour because of a pulled calf? No. They have to stay so ridiculously fit that they don't get injured. Chris Froome is a supreme athlete. His fitness levels would embarrass most if not all premier league players.

You can't just rock up to an Olympics and perform. If you are going to run 10k for example, you need to do it so regularly in training that when you get to the main event, not only do you know your capabilities and strategy, your body also finds it second nature.

Footballers live a celebrity life and their fitness pays for it. Swimming and rowing athletes usually train 3 times a day, far harder than footballers train and that is why they are the best in the world.

Andy Murray (as much as I hate him as a man) is fitter than any footballer. He doesn't play in one event. He plays in every tennis tournament he can, and is also never injured. Because he trains so hard. And tennis players cover an incredible amount of ground over periods that regularly exceed the length of football matches. And if they get through, their next round is usually less than 48 hours later! God forbid a footballer plays 2 games in that time frame though. They just aren't fit enough.

There are only a handful of footballers in the world who really push their bodies to the limit. And the best example is Ronaldo. There is a reason why he is so rarely injured, so incredibly fit and always at his physical peak. It is because his body is a temple and he trains as hard as an Olympian. He is living proof that dedication, blood, sweat and tears genuinely can put you on the same level as somebody like Messi who in terms of raw talent, should be miles better than Ronaldo.

The only excuse footballers can use is that the nature of their sport sometimes means that no amount of training can guarantee you stay injury free. There isn't a lot you can do when Pulis sends out Shawcross or McClean to deliberately injure someone. Impact injuries cannot always be avoided. But keeping your body at its peak condition can certainly help with riding impacts and avoiding even impact injuries. Muscle injuries are almost always down to poor conditioning and fitness levels though, and that is purely due to footballers thinking that grueling training regimes are beneath them.

12 Aug 2016 23:29:54
Aussie rules players are some of the fittest sportsmen on the planet but you're comparing apples and oranges. AFL players on average run the same distances as footballers but are allowed up to 90 subs during the game. Its a different type of fitness.

13 Aug 2016 00:14:42
Squash players are super fit too.

{Ed003's Note - like hundred metre sprinters or to the extreme race horses(sprint,flat) muscles can/will give... muscles will will go or pop anytime if your trained that way.}

13 Aug 2016 01:34:42
Players today would probably sue their respective clubs if put through such training sessions. Player power rules football at this moment, that and money. Can also imagine the likes of Balotelli hiding behind the goalpost if put through such a training session.

12 Aug 2016 20:23:29
Ed001 I think last season people were saying that the Leicester lads would be given days off. Do you think that could help at the tail end of a season if fatigue eventually does set in? Even with the tough sessions its only a few games left to go, and then it can start right up again by the following preseason.

{Ed001's Note - they got a few days off but so did every team when there was a gap in the schedule. The difference was they worked harder, particularly in preseason, to improve their fitness levels.}

12 Aug 2016 21:32:42
Cheers Ed's you are the oricle, but how can teams keep getting the most important fundamental wrong with the budgets/ experts they have, is there some fitness guru/ snake oil salesman that they're all following the doctrine of, or player power.

{Ed001's Note - it is a bit of both, listening to snake oil salesman and player power. The ones that were involved remember hating running etc, so they try and avoid putting their charges through it. They forget how important basic fitness is. As Bruce Lee said, running is the king of exercise.}

13 Aug 2016 07:27:21
Alls teams have to do is dole out bonuses for each training session.

12 Aug 2016 18:12:05
Sorry not that tech savvy so hope this ends up in the right place. Also apologies if this has already been covered as we don't get a great deal of coverage in the land of Oz. My question is if a super league does get created what are the chances that a team in there still has reserve team competing, kinda like a Barcelona b, but in there national league?

P. s. Even if this doesn't get approved, thank you ends for all the work you do, much appreciated.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

12 Aug 2016 18:46:56
I can't see the national leagues approving it as it automatically downgrades their competition.
I guess, at the end of the day money will talk.

12 Aug 2016 16:02:14
Tbh lads in big away games Origi got the nod a few times back end of last year, so I'm not 100% sure Sturridge would have been starting anyway.

Believable6 Unbelievable6

12 Aug 2016 17:41:25
I think Origi will be a big hit this season.

12 Aug 2016 15:15:33
Good afternoon eds, what are you up to today mate?

Sunny day here in Portugal.

Any info or update in any area please?

Believable1 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - No.}

12 Aug 2016 16:12:41
It's a real mystery what all these other posts on the site are for.

12 Aug 2016 16:49:54
I don't think it hurts to ask for an update on occasion. The Ed has to post the messages we send anyways, and if there isn't any update, all they have to do is say no (or nothing at all. ) Go easy on em swish.

I think it's the asking about a player who has been dealt with time after time after time that gets to the Eds. Then again I could be totally wrong.

{Ed041's Note - ed02 and 01 take time out to answer questions, even though the abuse comes. There is a search bar for specific players. failing that you could purchase my new invention of a transfer dousing rod, for £100 I will send them to you 2nd class, u ask a question and the rods move left for yes and righ for no. Its not quite as accurate as the 8 ball shaker though

12 Aug 2016 18:52:32
I don't think eds have to post questions, they have a choice and give up their time to post and answer questions.
Ridiculous that people abuse them or the site. As for the update question - of course it's fine, so long as the eds are not having to answer the same update question several times a day/ week.
Maybe put update questions in a different font/ colour so people can scan back? A search for 'update' is not a too much to ask though.

12 Aug 2016 22:06:25
An update is too open, assuming its isolated to transfers alone is too big. But does it mean new owners? New staff? Buying/ Selling of players? The weather? Traffic news?
To be serious transfer window is silly season, so best to ask about position transfers or outgoing players etc.

13 Aug 2016 01:00:36
totally agree bazaa, 'updates in any areas' are posted daily. you can pretty much find an update to anything club related on here. if its topical someone would have discussed it.

13 Aug 2016 01:22:59
Ed041, ill give you 120 if you throw in both.

{Ed041's Note - deal :)

12 Aug 2016 14:34:51
Ed here's one I've always wondered. Do footballers have any commitment to fifa to maintain a certain hairstyle, kit style (short sleve shirts etc) and boots. To match the fifa game?

For authenticity?

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - no, it is free advertising if they do change something and it gets mentioned in the media, so why would they want to do that?}

12 Aug 2016 15:22:09
The Liverpool team should grow a ket-wig to fit in with locals.

A 21St century upgrade to the perm.

12 Aug 2016 15:26:25
Have them train and play in North face tracksuits and get Klopp a boss baseball cap.

12 Aug 2016 15:33:25
Is this a serious question?

12 Aug 2016 17:16:41
I like the way Lallana advertised nivea aftershave balm yet had a full beard all season.

12 Aug 2016 22:12:44
Do players have to get facial recrostuctive surgery if the FIFA game screws up their likeness?

It would cost the lower league teams a fortune!

Good grief!

12 Aug 2016 14:14:23
Time to replace Sturridge in my opinion. What's the point in having him? I'm guessing he's on amazing wages, they could be going to someone who actually plays for Liverpool.

Believable8 Unbelievable15

12 Aug 2016 15:06:41
The fact that when he is fit, he's one of the best strikers in the league might be the reason why we've kept him. He was out for a week and is now back in training, so stop being such a pessimist.

12 Aug 2016 15:23:16
He scores goals.

That's why.

He would also score more than most strikers in the league even if he played half the season!

12 Aug 2016 16:05:55
I did a quick search of the major strikers of the premier league era. I didn't check them all but I checked all the major strikers, do you know who has a better scoring rate for their club than Studge has for Liverpool? I'll give you a hint, it's none of these; Henry, Shearer, Fowler, Owen, Torres, Suarez, Kane, Vardy, Van Persie (Utd era or Arsenal era), Rooney, Drogba or Berbatov.

Still can't figure it out? There's three, Aguero, Van Nistolroy and Cole (Newcastle era not Utd era) . Studge scores 5 goals for us every 7 games, he's brilliant, and you know what, if he plays 50% of the games or even less that's fine because we have a squad and we have back up who can fill in till he's ready to play again.

We shouldn't be doubting Studge we should be celebrating every minute we get to see him on the pitch because he's the kind of player who will win us the title, he's that good and that's the point in having him.

12 Aug 2016 16:26:29
Hallelujah Muscatred.

12 Aug 2016 17:13:50
p. s. thanks for the edit Eds, apologies for my bad manners.

{Ed041's Note - no problem.

12 Aug 2016 17:27:17
Sturridges ability has never been in question. It's whether or not we can field him twice a week for an entire season that's cause for concern. That said it's not really all that worrying and we are again putting one of our best players down for working his body too hard. give the guy a break.

12 Aug 2016 17:38:45
With the options that we now have, I`m no longer bothered if Studge is fit or not. However, he should not expect to unseat Origi and/ or Firmino when he gets back and if these two are fit and firing because Klopp won`t be having any of that. he will have to fight for his place in that case, something he may not be used to.

12 Aug 2016 19:09:27
The only problem is that if Daniel missed half a season, Balo and Benteke are sold that only leaves Origi which is fine but options then are low. I'm not sold on Ings, he has movement and technique but as for goal scoring, well let's say I don't think he's a 20 goal striker. Origi remains untested really. I'm not sold on using Firmino as I think he's inconsistent in front of goal and playing him too far forward takes something away from his game. Let's just see how fit Daniel stays this season. I sounded a bit unfair about Origi as he has looked superb at times, especially since he's bulked up. I think it's a make it break season for a lot of our players, Lallana, Can, Sturridge and more.

12 Aug 2016 19:15:16
Origi has a hell of a lot to prove and has to consistently find the form he had the last 8 games or so, a season is 38 games not 7 or 8.

12 Aug 2016 22:10:28
Yes we have a good stock of strikers, but to sell a player who is plagued with injuries is not the best move when they have the quality Sturridge has. Klopp clearly recognises his quality and the team are trying to get him in good shape, a small hip injury which he is already recovering from and back to light training.

12 Aug 2016 23:31:36
Bazza, it will come to a point where that decision may have to b made as Studge is of no use to us if he can't play regularly and is always injured. Just a thought.

13 Aug 2016 00:16:07
Klopp won't have any patience for passengers. Sturridge has to step up his fitness.

13 Aug 2016 03:56:59
Spot on, Ron. If Studge doesn't shape up in time, he will get shipped out, ASAP. Benteke prolly thought the same thing. Where's he now? That's right, on his way out of the club.

12 Aug 2016 12:17:47
A question for the eds if you will, not liverpool related, ....

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - This is the Liverpool page - take it elsewhere.}

12 Aug 2016 11:21:19
Sounds like Studge and Milner both out against Arsenal chaps. Going on what Klopp said in the presser.

Believable5 Unbelievable7

12 Aug 2016 11:45:31
Reports of Sturridge's injury no longer give me the same amount of anxiety it used to. in fact, it gives me none whatsoever. If for only this reason, i would say that Klopp's transfer business has been a success.

12 Aug 2016 11:58:26
Good point.

Thing is, they are Rodgers signings with Klopps being unproven.

12 Aug 2016 12:06:48
They be back no point rushing them it's only the the 1st game . And I ready said can we rely on Sturridge.

12 Aug 2016 12:54:27
BR put so much on Studge that he had to play him the minute it looked like he was fit whereas he never was fit and would get injured again and be out even longer. Klopp has fixed that with the emergence of Origi, Firmino and Ings waiting in the wings. I`m no longer bothered if Studge isn`t fit anymore as we now have options (some may say even better options but I digress) and that is all down to Klopp`s astute management. Bring on Sunday!

12 Aug 2016 13:24:13
As much as I love the guy when fit we know he will be injured or "not fully match fit" for half the season.

The fact he is injured for the first game of the season against a rival for top 4 and nobody is surprised or really too bothered suggests it is time to move him on.

12 Aug 2016 14:08:16
Hang on, how is it Klopps doing that we have Origi, Ings and Firmino as back up to Sturridge?

To be fair to Klopp, he has vastly improved Origi and converted Firmino into a striker at club level (as he had already played there for Brazil) . However you cannot in the same breath take a pop at Rodgers when he signed all of the strikers we currently have at the club!

Rodgers tenure was disastrous, but crediting Klopp 100% for Origi, Firmino and Ings is just wrong. Never thought I'd be defending Brendan. Guess we are not so different after all, muscatred!

12 Aug 2016 14:18:28
I'm not sure Klopp can take all the credit for the emergence on Origi, Firmino and Ings considering they're all BR signings. Although I think everyone will agree that in Origi's case he looked a totally different player and the end of last season compared to the player that arrived the previous summer! Maybe the Klopp effect?

12 Aug 2016 14:33:42
Klopp technically didn't fix that as firmino, origi and ings were all ridge signings. Just sayin.

12 Aug 2016 17:44:16
With Origi's development I think Klopp can rightly take some credit as he's helped him change his game. I don't think we'd have seen the same Development if Rodgers was still manager.

12 Aug 2016 18:14:03
MK, Paulo and Timotey, if you think I will give BR credit for signing players that he himself didn`t know what to do with, then you are all fooling yourselves. BR was playing Ings, origin and Firmino out wide where they were hapless and not good enuff. Firmino was already considered a flop and hadn`t gotten a goal to his name after seven games. Who was the nmanager he was working with again? Yep, BR. origin looked like a deer in headlights when he started under BR and many fans already wrot him off. Who was his manager at that time? BR. It wasn`t until Klopp came who thank goodness, knew Firmino from his Hofenheim days and also wanted to sign Origi because he knew his talent. He is the one who turned them around and made them the players they are today. They both scored double digit goal tallies (10 for Origi, 11 for Firmino) whereas they couldn't score in a brothel under BR. BR contributed nothing to their development so he gets NO credit for it. By the same token, Suarez wasn`t that good until BR came and created the team around him. BR was the one who made Suarez the deadliest striker in the PL in 12/ 13 and 13/ 14 hence, BR gets the credit for his development because he was the one sweating with Suarez on the training pitch to get the best out of him (and even Studge) and NOBODY else. If you do the work, you get the credit. because you signed a player doesn`t mean you get credit for their success especially if you had no idea what to do with them or how to get the best out of them. You cannot reap where you did not so, period.

12 Aug 2016 18:21:32
I think some are missing the point, while they may have been signed under br they were not exactly ripping up trees. Klopp somehow has gotten the best out of origi, firmino et al, while they were playing turgid stuff under br. So yes technically he has fixed it. Just saying.

12 Aug 2016 18:59:10
Well I got a different message from 'xpertoyin'.
Klopp's transfer business has seen us sign Grujic (a goal scoring midfielder), Wijnaldum (a goal scoring midfielder) and Mané (a goal scoring midfielder/ forward) .
Gone are the days of relying on Owen or Torres or Suarez or indeed Sturridge.
Klopp is developing a team, a team that attacks as one and defends as one. Losing Sturridge is no longer a problem as we no longer rely on one player or one position to score all our goals. 😎.

12 Aug 2016 23:41:46
My point exactly, Barnez. You can't get credit for the work you didn't do especially if you broke it and someone else had to fix it. That someone else gets the credit, not you.

12 Aug 2016 10:52:45
Firmino new hair style colour blonde
Lol FIFA are going to have to change his hair colour, any way I have hear that there is a boost in chase for leandro perades any truth YnwaLFC klopp.

12 Aug 2016 16:32:57
Oh my god, who cares.

12 Aug 2016 00:02:22
Everyone seems to be worried about the left back position with Moreno being backed up by Milner. I was thinking about Sunday and from what i have seen everyone is forgetting Klavan can and has played left back in the past. so what you guys think about a back line of, Clyne, Matip, Lovren and Klavan for the Arsenal game this weekend.

Believable4 Unbelievable11

12 Aug 2016 00:47:42
Klavan himself has said that he hasn't played LB for 5-6 years, so I think it is a terrible idea to play him at LB in his first PL game away to Arsenal. I think there is little chance of him playing at LB at anytime during the season bar for emergencies.

12 Aug 2016 02:54:25
Bruffio, you need to read the posts as Klavan has said that he doesn't play LB anymore neither was he signed to play there. We have a problem at LB and neither Klavan, Milner, Moreno nor Gomez is the solution.

12 Aug 2016 04:04:49
i think the worry about left back position is justified and i don't see why anyone would argue that.

If milner is seen as first choice left back (assumption, yes) when we have an actual left back, that does suggest that klopp is not happy with the left back situation.

there is still time in the window, but i do feel this has been a better window having seen that we have fixed other holes in the team, albeit we're starting the season with mignolet, because that's a result of an injury to karius.

and even if we start the season without an addition to LB, and stick with Moreno, i hope Moreno would up his game and improve, he is young and if he is willing to fix his problems, he could still turn out to be good, if he is willing to that is. when a door closes another door opens.

12 Aug 2016 07:21:53
It would be great if Moreno came good but I'm really not convinced he has a great footballing brain. His distribution needs work, his positioning is doubtful and his defending is pretty woeful - flying into tackles he simply can't make. I thought Gomez looked the best option but there you go. Milner will do his best but there is no doubt a specialist would be the preferred option.

12 Aug 2016 10:25:06
I do have some serious doubts as to if Moreno can improve.
I do see a silver lining in that if Mane is playing then Moreno might resist the urge to go forward and provide width as Mane will be up and down the wing.
Half of Morenos problems are that he's too far forward, cut that out and you will cut out half the mistakes he makes (well being out of position anyway) .

12 Aug 2016 10:45:36
At the end of last season without a doubt our 2 most problem areas were lb and gk. we have improved the gk and yet have not addressed the lb sotuation (although we tried to get chilwell) . now the fact we have moved on 2 fullbacks (smith sold and Flanagan loan) and just signed the young Spanish lad (who I hear is not yet first team ready) suprised me. so far I have been more than happy with klopps signings (GW I'm not 100% about) but can't believe that Milner if fit is klopps preferred lb starter. the thought of sane, bolassie, hazard or martial etc running at him with pace terrifies me. also regarding klavan he must start at CB. in pre season he's been more than impressive. i was at the Barcelona game and he was immense.

12 Aug 2016 10:59:21
I don't think young Moreno will let us down on Sunday.
He might just grab us a winning goal with that left foot of his.

YNWA.

12 Aug 2016 12:00:23
Don't rate Moreno as a defender, but can't help but think that he will be a cracking player.

Where or what position I haven't got a clue.

12 Aug 2016 12:47:24
In Manchester Davey.

12 Aug 2016 13:02:20
Moreno will never be a cracking player because in order to do that., you actually have to be smart and show the ability to learn and improve, none of which Moreno is capable of doing based on what we have seen. Whether he comes good or not in the future is irrelevant because as of now, he is incapable of doing that and we don`t have time to wait especially knowing that had the club just paid the 10m for Chilwell, Moreno would be old news right now.

12 Aug 2016 14:21:47
Back in Spain Davey.

12 Aug 2016 18:24:23
Well, just have to let the lad play and hope klavan and co can cover if he makes a mistake. Tbf he has had a couple of good games for us and his mistakes do not always lead to goals. So let's be positive and get behind the whole team and get to a flying start. We will win by 3 goals.
