Did chelsea win the league tonight? thought they must have the way they where celebrating

No, United did!

Haha don't think so city will still win it

12 Dec 2011 23:39:20
it cant be true that johnson must play right back when he is fit because its in his contract. if so what happens if we did play him right wing he`d spit his dummy out am not having it. {Ed001's Note - ah well, if you aren't having it that settles it then.}

Ed is there any truth in the Torres return Rumour? Can't see it myself as I'm pretty sure he wouldn't take a pay cut.

I must say though .. Daglish would soon get back to his best and a Torres Suarez partnership would be mouth watering.
I'd av him back for 20m but that's just me.

David villa Rumour is also strong too. I'd take Villa over Torres all day.

Cheers ed {Ed002's Note - None.}

I think Torres upset to many people and melwood. He's had arguements with players, coaches and management. For these reasons he will not return.
Torres does genuinely love Liverpool fc the club the fans and Merseyside but unfortunately he's burnt to many bridges.

Interesting thing thow is- it was roumured a few of weeks ago that Manccini wants to go back to Italy and Benitez will take over come this summer.
Now here's the interesting point.. Torres recently said that know one new him like Benitez did and he would like to one day return under his management.
Worth a punt on Benitez taking over Man City and Torres his first major signing this summer.

PS -David Villa to Liverpool :)

If Benitez took over at Man City - Why would he sign Torres with all the other talent hehe would there? Yes he may be worth a punt back at Liverpool with our limited strike force but surely not at city.

Mancini will not leave anyway

Wether its true or not, suprised that you can say he and Suarez wouldnt play well together when to me Id say they could link absolutely brilliant together and when you add Gerrard to that when back fit it would be scary good.

Who are you talking about? Conor

Havent we been hearing that for quite a while now....

Even if he does come back in Jan it will take him till March to get the rythm back.....

Team against Villa
Reina
Johnson Skertel Agger Enrique
Henderson Adam
Downing Suarez Bellamy
Carroll

Red&Bred

Carroll? seriously you don't support the progress of our club. After all these terrible performances, he should not even be on the bench.

You can't leave Maxi out. I am sorry but he is a really big part of our passing and moving way of playing football. Carrol isn't Swap Carrol with Maxi and then swap Suarez with Maxi and you have yourself a good team.

Thanks, KickingBro

Hope the FA are going to look into retrospectively charging Yaya Toure for any number of the offences he committed tonight (most notably the kickout and the slap both on Juan Mata). If Suarez had done anything like that it would splashed over every newspaper out there. Also, nothing has been written about the countless dives we've seen all over the weekend in the premiership, anyone would think the rest of the world is simply singling out Luis.

Tommy Walsh

The thing is now that Suarez with the finger at Fulham and the one in Holland has created just the problem opposition fans will thrive on. Every away game will see him taunted with chants and I worry he will lash out. It is all of his own making.

General curiosity poll for everyone...

In your opinion, who are the best 3 players currently part of playing squad at Liverpool?

For me...

1. Lucas
2. Suarez
3. Agger

Anyone else?

rewflo

Suarez has to be number 1. RedTurk

Adam and Enrique should be added to that list and also skertle's playing really well too.
Reina is picking up confidence

100% agree mate.

Adam isn't a mile off, nor is Enrique.

Papa G

It was difficult to cut Adam and Enrique out because both have been excellent so far. If it were top 5 they would have been the next two.

Crazy that even in a top 5 I cant find room for Gerrard at the min...

rewflo

1) Andy (insert your own phrase) Carroll
2) Stuart (no goals and no assists) Dowling
3) Jordan (no impact) Henderson

Nice of you to taint my thread with your misunderstanding of my question. I did ask for your best 3 not worst 3. I'd like to keep the thread positive.

Rewflo

Lucas, Enrique, Adam mate. Without a doubt.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

I agree with your list and the order of it Rewflo - that is a good spine of a team.

Credits to Enrique and Adam too.

LIVERPRES

hey ed,

thanks, steve {Ed002's Note - There is no way that we are going to spend time analysising random lists of players you have found on the internet.}

12 Dec 2011 22:05:16
You happy with chelseas performance tonight ed002?

Rewflo {Ed002's Note - They played well enough. I don't like all the screwing around in the corners in the last few minutes - always seems to result in the ball being lost.}

Its an accolade that no one else can claim so far this season... beating city that is.

Rewflo

We beat them soundly....we just didn't score enough goals

cozinoz

Well that tends to be how you win a football match you blurt

Who disagreed with my comment? Nothing wrong with giving credit where its due. They are the only team to have beaten city in the league this year.

This sundays game against Villa is massive if we can get three points. Then a busy christmas period with winnable games. By the time we play city at the start of jan we could be in the title race. But just one game at a time and a massive game at villa. We need a real big push on sunday and keep up our great away form.

Mighty reds

Yeap Business partve season.Got to push on!Worry is a suarez ban,Stevie/Lucas out.Got to bring in Reinforcements.Ed With ya ya;s coduct going unpunished,could LFC use footage in mitigation,re treatment via F.A to us? {Ed002's Note - No.}

12 Dec 2011 21:54:40
look how many times the ball flashed across the 6yard box against qpr we need a striker like owen or hernandez, i know not them but a striker like them
Luccas Barrios is up for grabs and
Gary Hooper 35 goals in 50 games for Celtic, the last striker we signed from celtic with a record like that was a certain King Kenny and we wouldn't have to break the bank to sign him.
also andy carroll isnt scoring cause we dont have a winger who can beat players and get a cross in from the line, if we get one in jan then carroll can definately get 12-15 goals this season.A simple solution to an obvious problem

Just read that Hooper average goal per game stats in 2010-11 was the fourth best strike rate in Europe, behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Antonio Di Natale. Never seen him play but if he's a Rush/Fowler type 6 yd box finisher, he sounds like just what we could do with to compliment Carroll and Suarez.

cozinoz {Ed001's Note - he is a bit, well a lot, on the lazy side.}

To the first reply: NO! Carroll doesn't fit into the pass and move. We don't play for crosses really... we play tidy football on the floor. Carroll changes that and it is rubbish. Get someone like Hunterlaar who has played with Suarez at Ajax and is a natural goalscorer!

Thanks, KickingBro

Ed001, you may say he is lazy but he knows where the old onion bag is ! great striker, much better than jellyfish at rangers, but then again rangers will have to sell in january to get a kitty for HMRC {Ed001's Note - hardly great, barely even good.}

12 Dec 2011 21:42:42
Citeh are chumps. Can't even beat chelski at the bridge!

But then we couldn't beat them at Anfield.

Must have been nice for Chelsea to sing 'You aint got no history' to a team for once

Just 2 facts to mention tonight while watching the Chelsea game :-
1. Clichy is a liability and a poor defender
2. Meireles is carp (he scored, so what, he's Carp!)

So your saying he is a fish.

Any idea who we are considering for replacing Johnson with should he be sold? Thanks ed.

Rewflo {Ed002's Note - It is too early to tell.}

I would have thought Kelly and Flannagan would battling for the spot myself.

The money saved on wages would the. Go on a top winger, hopefully.

Ray Wikiins is the worst co commentator/pundit going. At least Gary Neville can hide his true emotions and tell it how it is. It's wrong that after all this time of him losing his job he still refers to most of the Chelsea players by their christian names. Get a grip Ray you old cool,i'd rather have Neville then him any day of the week.
J.C

Yeap no allegianse to Ciyeh that was most bias commentry since keyes and grays anti Lfc 20 years ago.Unbelievable.Tyler and Wilkins shouldnt cover Chavski again.Ild sack Wilkins shocking

I agree but you cant knock the mans knowledge of the game

My word! You can.

Evening Everbody - To coin another phrase. To be fair he calls everyone by their first name like he's known them all personally for 20 years. But yes he's biased when commentating on Chelsea.

Also next time Wilkins on,watch how often ne says no pen and blatantly is.Or goalkick,when corner etc.Mans useless 80% hes wrong.When they go back to studio their incredulous,and brush over what he said.

Just a general question for ed002 if possible.

As youre a chelsea fan (if I'm right?) What is your opinion of Torres? Obviously you're not happy with his contributions but do you feel he will come good?

thanks in advance.

Rewflo {Ed002's Note - I am not really one to give opinions on players but I suspect whether he comes good or not his time is probably limited at Chelsea.}

Where do you expect he might go?

I think Italy most likely followed by maybe a return to Atletico. Thanks for the input ed, its always much appreciated.

Rewflo {Ed002's Note - No idea, Malaga, Atletico?}

Shouldnt this be on the Chelsea page? who is this Torres guy? {Ed002's Note - Torres is a player the Liverpool fans cannot seem to stop going on about.}

That's because he has realised the grass is not always greener. so obvious ancelotti didn't want him and now avb does not want him, an abramovich signing gone wrong, just eat humble pie roman and loan him back !

Oh Dear! Chelski Already 0-1 down
Apart from Liverpool no other team so far gave city a game, with out their keeper heroics they would have gone back to Manchester with their first defeat.

Man City need a new left back. Clichy cant defend for his life. Who'd buy an Arsenal defender !?
The Real KB

Sorry to say we tried to buy him same time as city did. thankfully he chose them

Anyone think if gerrard gets for and stays fit he play in that Lucas holding role?
Martynlfc

He could be DM but its a waste of his attacking ability, he needs to be closer to goal so he can link up with Suarez / Maxi and get the goals. If he played DM next to Adam it would be too risky they could easily both empty midfield and then we could get done on the counter for fun. Gerrard linking play in the middle right of a 4-3-3 or in behind suarez in a 4-2-3-1 is mouth watering. There will undoubtably be goals from him and the players around him. He will be on the same wave length as Maxi and Suarez. I think you will find Gerrard and Suarez have only played a handful of games together and i'm not sure if they ever played up front together. Gerrard will want to play in behind him like he did with Torres, I bet he cant wait to get the partnership started.

Nope. He'd play with Suarez up front. For sure.

Thanks, KickingBro

I think Hendo did quite a decent job playing deeper at QPR. Him and Adam will be fine with Stevie AM.

edd u do realise that u cant use the search function on the mobile site an iv been wanting to know about the whole johnson being up for sale thing an theres no way i can search for it.

thanks

Iv already done that but it only goes back to a certain time.

big red john

Are you positive? Because it works just fine for me

Square tomato

Yeah im positive

big red john

From what I've read in this site glen Johnson must play at right back when he is fit due to contractual issues kenny obviously isn't happy with it this as we would all like to see glen RW and Kelly RB to see how it works but this can't happen.....also glen is on extremely high wages and getting him off the books is an option being considered seriously for the summer Hope this helps

12 Dec 2011 19:54:36
Hi eds,
sorry if it seems kind of rude but you said we'll bring a striker and a winger in january but every name people ask, you say it's unlikely.
The only players you say are likely (De jong, Kagawa, Soldado) are only summer targets.
Can you finely tell us who is a likely target for january? {Ed002's Note - I am guessing you need to go back and read again what was said.}

12 Dec 2011 19:33:27
You guys must get a lot of questions that you're fed up answering (as most are duplicates or ludicrous!).

Anyway, I'd be interested to hear two things...

1. ...any concrete/definite names of players we might be in for in the coming winter and summer transfer windows.

2. ... an indication of the number of players that you might anticipate (or have knowledge of but can't divulge) we will be looking to sign in those two transfer windows.

I think what I'm trying to get at with the second question is to find out what sort of information you have to hold back sometimes.

Would be great if you can answer! {Ed002's Note - We cannot really answer sensibly about the summar. Names of players are discussed all of the time. Perhaps a couple will arrive in January.}

"..questions that your fed up of answering.." - yeah like the two questions that you asked!

People have to ask or the site doesn't have a cycle. If people just used the search function then poo

Thats why i suggested a page only for what the eds wants to say. would be easier. i did post it, but i just cant find it back as the search function only post what i said, and not what is replied.

Kaizer {Ed002's Note - We are not going to do that simply due to the levels of abuse from the Liverpool fans.}

Maybe, but i think there is more appreciation than abuse to the idea if it happens.

okay, well atleast make the search function brings their reply's as well? finding my post but cant find my reply is hard. hope u guys consider it...

Kaizer

12 Dec 2011 19:23:55
hi ed's can you tell me if Stephane Sessegnon could be able to join liverpool in jan? Would link up well with Suarez. {Ed002's Note - He could but there is no known interest and I doubt he is for sale. I appreciate he played well on television yesterday.}

12 Dec 2011 19:00:19
Ed what do you think of Nathaniel Clyne of Crystal Palace ?
Thanks,
0000. {Ed002's Note - I am not really up on lower division football. I am sure other posters will share their thoughts on the subject though.}

No bother Ed I've only seen him play a few times myself but he looks a good player, although he does plays in a lower league...
If anyone wants to share their opinions they would be more than welcome!
Thanks,
0000.

Young RB. Looks to have potential.

12 Dec 2011 18:51:03
just a quick point to make and would like other fans feedback,last season when Kenny took over we enjoyed some great results and he created a real team by pretty much sticking with the same 11 each week! But this season he's changed his approach and is all over the place picking a dif team every week in the midfield and attack. Can't understand why he's doing it but I can understand why the likes of carrol and dirk are struggling, I think he needs to pick he's 11 and run with it for 5 6 games so they can start understanding how each other play, ok the tactics will be same but each player will have a certain run he likes or a favoured ball he likes to receive, it's these small details that will make us a better team! It's after those 7 games or so he can start resting players when really needed, a team will cope with 1 maybe to changes not 3 or 4!

Swedish adam

Said this some time back. Since Kenny has settled on a back 4 our defense is top notch. Maybe Kenny can't work out his best attack or is reluctant to play Maxi for whatever reason.

Dear Santa,
I know we are in a recession but what I want for Christmas is a right winger/forward to grab 20 goals a season to help Liverpool win the Premier League Title. I know its a big ask but hey we can all dream !
Thanks!

12 Dec 2011 17:56:17
after reading a few replys to people from ed002 id like to know why she keeps saying liverpool cant afford players or where we will get money to buy players that cost alot...hasnt dalgish said on more than one occasion if the player is good enough the cost is irrellevent?

wildRED {Ed002's Note - If you were bright enough to read the answer I have given rather than just asking the same question over and over again you would know the answer.}

I don't think wildred is a red as he would know how to spell DALGLISH

WILDRED I do believe Liverpool could afford the likes of hazard but i dont know if the owners would fork out $40 million then god knows how much on wages for 5 years. plus would he or players the fans want want to come to liverpool {Ed002's Note - Somewhat contradictory then?}

Not really Ed i think they have the money but they run LFC as a business and want to keep the costs down although they do have the funds to do so {Ed002's Note - LFC is a business and has to be run as such. LFC does not have a surplus of cash. Sure the owners could put more money in to the business or borrow to do so but even you agree there is not the money to go out and spend on several £50M players.}

A blue nose with Dalglish not spelt right

Hard to believe, but even we reds can make typos. sometimse.

12 Dec 2011 17:25:35
Ed, we've signed Jordan Ibe, i believe we have a deal in place to sign Marco Bueno when he is 18 as well. Are there any other promising youngsters we've added to our accademy so far this season you know of? Because i assume Comolli does something all day?

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed002's Note - I am not hip to the kid's side of things particularly, but Comolli is Director of Football for Liverpool and the Academy has separate staff.}

12 Dec 2011 17:24:32

Hi eds, with Rahwem Sterling signing a professional contract, do you think he will start to feature in te 1st team? Or is this just a "measure" for the future?

JB {Ed002's Note - It is because he has just turned 17 and is allowed to sign. It is no big deal.}

'No big deal' ... Lol

1977

I'm sure Ed002 isn't dissing the player by saying that, he just means it's nothing out of the ordinary- RS was expected to sign as a pro for LFC, and he's now eligible, and he's now signed.
Let's just hope he matures into a world beater.

12 Dec 2011 15:57:20
Hi Ed. I'm hearing that Marco Rues is almost a "done deal" for Bayern M, and that they might want to cash in on Robben - What do you think about that? Bulls**t or any truth? And do you think Liverpool would go for him? Don't really know how much he would cost, but surley 20m£ i guess {Ed002's Note - Arjen Robben will eb available at the right price. I think he is more likely to move to Italy than Liverpool.}

He's prob still terrified of reina as well.
Just the sight of him makes him fall to the floor in floods of tears.

MIKEY

Robben would be bargain and great for us.

Robben is always injured and a bit of a sulker. I think Kenny wants a changing room with no big ego's.

One player banging in goals is ricky lambert could be worth a bid.DORSET RED

Good shout but i'd take a punt on Gary Hooper. Think he's a clinical finisher who's all round play is very good as well. Think he'd be a good signing previeded the price is right. I'd pay 6 to 7 mill for him. Still only young,has scored goal's at every level he's played at. Just a thought but he's always impressed me from what i've seen of him.
Jonson.

I'm sure there are plenty of players banging in the goals in weak leagues, doesnt mean they are good enough for liverpool though.

12 Dec 2011 15:37:01
Ed I seem to be fighting a loosing battle backing Carrol here today so can I ask your opinion on something else?
{Ed002's Note - Not a subject we are going to discuss. Please keep it to soccer.}

OK Ed, no problem. I guess the point I'm getting at is with lucas's injury and with Suarez's hearing still pending. Do you believe our hand is being forced into which areas will need recruits in? and not necesarily where we were looking before. Hope that sounds better. {Ed002's Note - Dalglish has said there will be no one bought in for Lucas. I am pretty sure the club are not looking to replace Suarez at this time.}

Don't tell me you call Football 'Soccer' 002.

RenegadeRed {Ed002's Note - Sorry, I should have said football, but we all call it soccer where I am from.}

Haha, no worries 002, never thought you were North American? That is where they call it soccer right?

RenegadeRed {Ed002's Note - I am indeed a North American by birth.}

Whats it coming to?!-North American?!lol

You should be able to identify - there aren't that many North American Chelsea fans.
DM {Ed002's Note - I left America to live primarily in Europe over 30 years ago.}

Ed02 You dont have an Italian surname by any chance do you?? All the best.

KNEE JERK {Ed002's Note - Italiano, non.}

I keep trying to tell people here the same thing here. It's not soccer, it's football. I've resorted to calling american football american soccer...

Cuchulainn's Hounds

In Australia they agreed it is officially called football but, 8 years later, everyone still calls it soccer

cozinoz

Was it not called soccer originally anyway? {Ed002's Note - Association football. American football is the odd one as player use their hands not their feet.}

Ed002 is fluent in Francais this would make you...Canadian? Quebec?

Hi ed,did you live on a reservation?my big sis is over from canada,london ont,for a month,she bought loads of ciggies she said she bought from the indian reservation,are they the same as gypos to us,jimmybosun, {Ed002's Note - Actually there are interesting stories abot the Mohawks and Marlboro cigarettes, a golf course near Montreal, and burial ground and the shooting of a cop. Although I was born near Seattle I spent most of my earlier years in the San Francisco Bay area.}

Jimmybosun mate, my partner's from a Metis backround and has brought those ciggies home before. They are absolutely reeking mate. Natives have certain similarities to the travelling community, although a lot of differences too. The reserves were basically land given to compensate natives for the whole 'white man take our land' thing from provincial governments in Canada. At least they have somewhere to go, travellers, by their own cultural definitions, don't. Sooo.... Ed002, just to keep the post LFC related, who are we signing in January?

I hope the fa are goin to hammer redknapp for his comments about the referree yday.this trend of calling a referees integrity into question and suggesting they are biased has been growing recently led by the disgusting man u manager.I think most of u's felt Kevin friend had a poor game at fulham but you would not call his integrity into question and to give him his due I think in general he is one of our better referees. Yosser

Don't come on here 1 week blasting the ref and backing kenny, blaming everyone except Suarez and the next asking the F.A to penalise Harry. Thats the problem with people. To busy worrying over other peoples business rather than their own. And im speaking a liverpool fan. Pot and kettle springs to mind. Leave the mugs at the FA to deal with other teams. That is if they can find the time from looking after Rooney

I'd like to know peoples opinions of Eccelston, he was recently recalled from loan and has scored a few cracking goals for the reserves is it worth giving him a go run out in the first team. Lets be honest he quick and mobile and might just thrive off the kind service and creativity Suarez could provide?

NS

Would like to see him get 15-20mins at some point when we are winning. Sometimes under Rafa we were guilty of pressuring the younger players by throwing them into a struggling side. He seems a pretty confident lad.

Carroll is 23 in January. Obviously not a product of our youth system, so there's no point comparing him to a young Owen, etc but how much more time can you give someone in a team that only has 4 first team strikers, two of whom are over 30?

whether we keep andy or not, we need someone else up front to relieve the pressure off Suarez. If he was to get injured, we'd be in serious trouble!

Hi, Here's a different line of thought,Perhaps Carroll was bought as a (waiting in the wings) replacement for suerez, 1/ If a huge offer came in for Surez he would be sold. 2/With the treatment he is getting from opposition fans and the FA he might just call it a day and ask for a transfer. Bobbinred {Ed002's Note - I cannot think of many clubs that would buy a players replacement a few hours after buying him.}

That'd be good except there have been far too fee games where web have been far enough ahead :(

12 Dec 2011 14:31:29
Hi eds last week you said that Glen Johnson could be up for sale in the summer you also said that we are likely to bring in a replacement on cheaper wages. Is the decision based on johnsons footballing ability or a financial reason. Also what if johnson as a great season it would then be harder to sell wouldnt it?

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - This was answered yesterday.}

I find that odd when he signed a long extension AFTER kenny took over.
Dara D

Dara,do you or anyone else think that if he's got a few more years rather then a couple left on his contract it would enhance or at least get a better price for him with the extentinon signed. It's when their contracts are running low,you usually don't get as much coin for a player then when they've got a few years left ala Glenn Johnson.
Jonson.

Fair point Jonson. thanks.

If Stevie came back fit in a couple of weeks and played on the right, and big Andy starts scoreing, where would any new signing go?
It's just a thought?
RNRed

Id rather let that be the problem than whos gonna play.

Kaizer

But where already moaning who doesnt get a game,maxi bellamy, kuyt,downing,kelly, carragher,carrol dont know when they'r goin to start while henderson seems to be the only one who i dont think deserves first team starts every game now, i understand lucas, gerrard, and spearing being out atm so he sufficient cover for now. seems to be getting lucas treatment when we first got lucas, but lucas only played alot because we never had a big squad back then, if either gerrard, alonso, macsherano got injured etc lucas filled in, henderson has a bright future but we have better players atm

Spearing his no way a better option than Hendo.In what department his he better.And don't say tackling,because in these times it his safer to block and close down, rather than steam in.

hi everyone.
transfer window approaches again i think that the owners will be getting jittery 35 mil for ac 20 mil for sd now everyone wants a big spend i cant see it myself i think we are destined for fighting now for a Europa cup spot we simply do not score enough goals we must start bringing in footballers from the reserves and the academy we cant sell ac neither we would get less than half we paid for him our transfers have not proved to be the brightest candle in the church

12 Dec 2011 13:33:36
so lads do you think if we are only going to bring in 2 players in jan, will they be world class?

Dont have to be world class mate, jus a pacey right winger who is technically good and can beat a man, a striker who can notch up 20 odd goals a season.RedTurk

True redturk,but most who fit criteria above are as near as d m it world class

But comolli has the ability to buy players not recognised as world class and will be at a club like liverpool, that is the whole point in revamping the scouting department we cant buy them straight off the top shelf like man city, chelsea, real madrid and man utd but we can buy players who clubs dont wana take the risk on like suarez and make them better.RedTurk

12 Dec 2011 13:29:55
hi Eds

just a quick Q. do you know of any plans for young players going out on loan in jan? i.e wilson, wisdom ect.

thanks Red Rout {Ed002's Note - Not yet.}

12 Dec 2011 13:20:47
I actually like carrol and think he will come good for us, i am however worried about the lack of goals from the whole team. Is there anybody in our squad that is actually up or level with their tally from the same point last season? I suspect the vast majority are down. I know we have had some bad luck, and hit the woodwork a lot but is there a problem with the quality of chances were actually producing and finishing them off is more difficult? Lets hope its just bad luck and it levels out.

Would be great if someone could work out how many points we would be on if all them shots hitting the posts had gone in. Our strikers are only a couple of millimetres off target. Some extra training and a bit of confidence might be the only difference between us being close to the top or where we are now.

MIKEY

Opta stats worked out that if we had converted chances that had it the post, we would be 3 points behind man city. (courtesy of talksport radio)

taffytel

MIKEY

1st - Manchester City - 36pts
2nd - Manchester United - 32pts
3rd - Tottenham - 31pts (game in-hand)
4th - Liverpool - 30pts

If all balls that hit the woodwork in the premier league were goals. This of course a very simplistic way of looking at it but it is quite revealing.

JRG

Try and work out where everyone would be if all there efforts at the post went in, that would be more interestin...

JRG, I love you,
but surely you have
better ways to spend your time?

I really should be doing the work I am paid to do but this is much more fun! lol.

Raheem Sterling signs first pro contract with liverpool

redraj

Does this mean he can go on loan in January? {Ed002's Note - January 2013.}

12 Dec 2011 12:34:18
if we get a top striker and right winger i think that would be enough till the summer, should secure atleast top 4.RedTurk

Mate even if we get messi we still aint getting top 4.We aint as good as spurs or arsenal.

We beat Arsenal and spurs will fade

If Liverpool had Messi they would win the league no problem.

How did spurs get on yesterday? - they are not invincible

Can we check the IP address of redturk. If we get 2 players he will be HAPPY 'til the end of season. Either someone impersonating him or hell will actually freeze over if we do sign 2 players......

Hello Eds, you seem to be very knowledgeable on who we are scouting and where.

What sort of players have we been looking at? ie players with a creative spark or such like? I can guess some of the player types by searching on here but was just wondering if there was any surprises?

Also have we expanded/updated our scouting network now DC is heading it?

And on a random note im sure I read somewhere ages ago that Carroll was on a personal fitness program, do we have any update on how he is progressing? he has bags of talent just hoping he wont become another "good touch for a big man" player

Thanks for the greatest website known to man!

Loafmaster flex {Ed002's Note - Liverpool and all other clubs will look at numerous players over a season, there is no way that it will be divided up in to those with a "creative spark" or anything else so subjective. The obvious change to the Liverpool scouting network is the addition of Diego Caniggia in South America. As for CArroll, I have no idea how any fitness program is going, sorry.}

12 Dec 2011 12:02:10
Hi Eds,

First time poster love the work you're doing.
Just wondering if you could rate the top 5 (or 10) players that you feel will be most likely to be arriving in Jan... Also the top 5 most likely to leave would be interesting too as i can't see who we'd get rid of as everyone seems to be stepping up to the plate or has potential too.

Cheers {Ed002's Note - Sorry but it is not possible to do that. Expect only a couple of changes in January.}

12 Dec 2011 11:48:57
Just read another big post about Andy Carroll. My question is what do we do with him? Should we play him every game until he starts scoring? Do we give him 10 minutes each game? Do we play him in the reserves? What is the Andy solution to the 'Andy we
stick by our man' supporters?

Bring him on at 60 min mark for a couple of games. Start him in the games where he's going to dominate the opposition's centrebacks

cozinoz

We should play him more often give him 5 or 6 games on the bounce and get him some service from the wings. We should play glen Johnson on the right wing and downing on the left. He will score goals because of his height and power.

Good idea but unfortunately he couldn`t dominate the under 18`s at the moment.! he does not deserve a place in the team so why play him? he has to prove his worth before he gets on the pitch.
Matt b

How's he ment to prove his worth if he's in one game,out the next. Think that its just confidence with him.
Jonson.

Agreed Jonson. I reckon give him a nice 5 game stretch in the starting 11 see how he does. Something tells me that should this happen he will show his worth. People say that he doesnt make runs but how is he supposed to be in tune with the way we play if he is never on the pitch?
He does make plenty of space forhimself and suarez in the box anyway, you just never see it because the crosses dont come in.

Rewflo

Play this formation for the next 5 games:

Carroll
Downing Suarez Maxi
Adam Hendo

If no goals, when Stevie is back push Suarez up top and Stevie in behind him. Bellamy to come on 2nd half as impact sub.

I really do think its time young adam morgan was given a chance. hes as good as owen or fowler at the same age, n rooney n owen broke through at 16 n 17. hes prolific in front of goal, just what we're missing. why spend millions when weve got the next big thing already.
We do need cover at dm, n a decent crosser of a football. The reason AC scored regularly at newcastle, was the quality of balls in from joey barton. he caused us problems on saturday too.

I feel that against the lesser teams, we need to go back to 4-4-1-1 with quality from the wings, carroll up front n luis in the hole.

Would love to see sissoko in jan n break the bank for hazard (not likely i know)

Lincoln red

Morgan has been nowhere near as good this season as he was last season. he's not ready yet - if he was good enough he would be playing in the carling cup/ on the bench etc. ideally he should go on lone when he can, reserves aren't competitively enough for him to develop.

Have to admit bartons crosses quality all day,free play or set pieces

12 Dec 2011 11:11:26
Hi eds

I can't help but feel that we need to look beyond these high profile strikers (higuin, podolski etc) with big price tags and find some finishing quality at a good price. There seems to be a stream of quality out of Africa.

On the same note is it not worth having a punt on morgon or eccleston (spelling) ?

With 12 general play goals (excluding own goals) this season they can't do much worse.

Do you think any of the youngsters can step up and poach goals?

Whilst there are good players from Africa, with African Nations Cup coming up... this window may not be the best time to sign them.

RedSG {Ed002's Note - To make matters worse there is another Cup of Ntions next season as well.}

If we have the opportunity to sign higuain or podolski and have the funds to do so then we should sign them. Someone like higuain would take us to another level. We are playing some of the best football in the league we just need a goal scorer to put away all these chances

MIKEY

What's the point in paying scouts to buy obviously famous players. Scouts should find potential and skill at a reasonable cost i.e. Coates, Lucas, Maxi even if we have to wait for them to settle into the squad. Not every player will have immediate impact whatever their price.

12 Dec 2011 11:08:56
Hi Eds,
Is it still only De Jong that you know of that we have a definite interest in? {Ed002's Note - We have explained the players that we know have been looked at. but there seems to be little confirmed interest and in the case of some players, confirmation that the club are not interested has been provided. I would not expect major changes in January.}

I think KK knows any more than one or two additions could upset the squad a bit. We've spent the first half of the season getting the team to gel, now we need continuity and consistency.

cozinoz

Ed, can you please give me a summary of every player LFC have bid for in the last 12 months (in alphabetical order, of course), with bid price, actual selling price (if sold elsewhere), mother's maiden name, and favourite food?

Hate to bother you old fruit, but my search button seems to be broken. It's the damndest thing...
Bloody technology, eh? Sheesh.

PS- it's the voices that are telling me to do this, if that helps.

12 Dec 2011 10:37:26
ed in your mind who would be the next captain after gerrard carragher and reina ? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea, sorry.}

Lucas leiva

Lucas, Kuyt, Agger, Skrtel in that order

Keith YNWA

Jordan Henderson

Luis suarez captained ajax, always puts in 110% and is the inspiration of the team, he should be captain if anyone.RedTurk

I don't see how you can say 'After Reina'.

Friedel is keeping well into his 40's, Reina is 29. I expect him to captain us for the next 10 years at least, if he stays.

If he doesn't then Lucas, Suarez or Agger.

RenegadeRed

Reina is not the ideal captain. In disputes only the captain should speak to the ref. This should be an outfield player who speaks fluent english. Adam, Henderson or Coady for the future.

Cant say I'm a massive fan of goalies as captains. You want your captain where they can give the most influence, centre of the pitch. I'd give it to Lucas, he has definitely earned it, after that maybe Agger if he can stay fit.

hai..ed..kool work..and great site..
first so happy to see spurs dropping points..also would love city to beat chelsea..city wil lsure beat arsenal next week and if we beat villa..we are in a great position..since..spurs are yet to face chelsea...which means..if we win the next 4 games...(whatever..we need to win at any cost)...then 4th spot wil look good....
gerrard can be expected by jan...coz we need him for thr cup semi..

Now transfers..

I dont think..all the names mentioned here are realisitic...if we arent in the top 4 by jan...no chance of getting any big names..
if u ask me..i will not buy a striker...coz.. if we do..actuall ywe are digging ourself..what wil lwe then do with andy carroll.? he has to get clicked...it was our mistake..we bought him...if we buy anotehr good striker..and if he clicks..then...35 mill will be absolute waste...day by day..his value wil l decrease...we need to find anotehr solution...
i would be happy if we buy a right sided striker or midfiled player...
DM is a must...lucas...is an asbolute gem..and we are missing him...

hope KK knows exactly what he needs to do...and he will...do it...we need to be in Europe...thers no excuse...whatsoever..wether we are rebuilding..or not...if u see closly..chelsea too is in a rebuilding stage..but they are in CL....and we have to be there..

You will never walk alone....

YNWA .... JFT96

Unfortunately he is not good enough to be at liverpool.

Steve

100% agree

cozinoz

Unfortunately Steve, you are very much mistaken. Andy Carroll is a top player. You do not score 13 goals in your first season in the Prem, at 21, against Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea if you are not "good enough" for LFC. We have some top players at this club, Andy is one of them. He may never satisfy ALL Liverpool supporters but by god, do you know what it is like to have 40,000 supporters on your back? Of course he will have read all the negative press, which ultimately has led to the severe drop in confidence we are currently seeing. The Andy Carroll at NUFC was full of confidence because the team and the fans appreciated him as a professorial. Like the 1st poster said, the sooner we get behind him, the sooner Andy Carroll shows his class.

Anybody got any decent footie questions out there? heard a great 1 the other day, 9 goalkeepers to have won an FA Cup winners medal and a European Cup/Champions League winners medal?

Ray Clemence, Bruce Grobelaar, Pepe Reina and 6 others

cozinoz

I think I have 6, cant remember the rest.
Dudek
Clemence
Grobbelaar
Schmeichal
Van Der Sar
Stepney

I dont think Forest or Villa won the FA Cup with the same GK as when they won the European cup.
Please enlighten me

CovoKenya

Dudek has not got an fa cup winners medal and Reina has not got a champions league winners medal.

Shilton was Forests Euro winning keeper, but only an FA cup runner up with Leicester. Jimmy Rimmer was Villa's keeper but never won the FA cup - he was in the Man Utd squad when they won the Euro cup in '68 though. Don't think Pepe ever won the Campions League.

He has a loosers medal that hardly counts

Is it the reserve keepers?

Pepe won the Champions league in 2013

Medals being the important bit, they didnt necessarily play

To KickingBro, who says 'we can't win by throwing liverpool youngsters into the 1st team'.

Well, you should tell the to barcelona where the majority of their team came up thru the ranks.
A number of our kids have the potential to be very very good. Maybe even worldclass. But they'll never realise that potential unless given the chance.

And you can spend 40m and 200k a week on a 'worldclass' player but why would he join us if citeh can pay him 300k?

Loyalty and commitment cannot be bought. Gerrard would never do a torres, for example.

Spending big money may buy temporary success but developing youth can build pro-longed success. Dynasties, so to speak.

And we have a really decent crop of youngsters coming thru.

With a bit of luck, we may juz have the beginnings of a dynasty on our hands.:-)

Talking to Qpr fans as have others after games at Anfield.No one can believe we paid THAT fee for Carrol.Ok aint his fault.But he dosent fit.Longer you keep him,more chance he devalues,and we miss Champs Leauge,Especially when Suarez gets banned,which he will do,sadly.So lets cash in.And go for Top quality.Wether it be Higuain/whoever.Nowt personnel,time waits for no man.Club has to move forward.Unfortunately its about muller more than ever.Patiece is sadly outdated luxuary in all life.But footy particularily.Years of mismanagement caused us to full behind.We must! close that gap,And top 4 cash makes that easier.Ultimately its about results,which means onion bag!Spurs are lppking to new ground and are currently aheadve us.Its sad that Carrols embroied in scenario aint his fault or making.Or past anything to do with him.But cruel game,he aint cutting it.LFC comes before amyone individual.Harsh or not

To the fernando Torres loan rumours: Why would we loan Torres to help him get back to form for another club that can potentially threaten our chances of top 4? That is a ridiculous rumour that some fantasists have made up.

Thanks, KickingBro

No rumours pal. Just a very, very lazy Daily mirror journo.

Stu.

Perm del would work, cheeky bid of 15mil would do it. we would have the best strike force in the league by far.lol.j

On paper we may have the best strikeforce, but in reality we would have Suarez who hits the post or keeper more than the net lately, Torres who can't hit anything and Carroll who's confidence is shot to pieces.

LIVERPRES

He is on loan with a view to buy. If he's crap we don't buy him he can go back. If he does the business there will be no way - a clause in the contract - that Chelsea cannot have him back. He is obviously not wanted there.

12 Dec 2011 00:17:22
Just imagine us with likes of R.V.P.His mobile type of forward play is what LFC and indeed Suarez need to help ensure 4th.Even adeybyour type.Anymore R.V.P types out there ED?(or has he signed a contract yet,lol. {Ed001's Note - I don't think there are too many RVPs around, unfortunately. Though I would go for Higuain, Benzema's goalscoring form is keeping him out the team, I have no idea why but Madrid are willing to allow him to go.}

Ed
Just to confirm that I got this right, Madrid will be allowing higuain to move on?
If so what chance do u reckon we got of landing him. Would love him at anfied, quality finisher. although I always thought he would be way too expensive for us (both wages + transfer fee)

LFC 2929 {Ed001's Note - they are looking for 40m Euros plus apparently, not sure we would have a chance without Champions League football, but maybe Maxi could persuade him. He would have to take a pay cut, but he is almost certainly going to have to do that wherever he goes.}

Thats around the same money we chucked out on carroll why not? goal scorer, mobile did i say goal scorer.

Higuain isn't really interested in moving and will stay there regardless of Madrid openness to offers. They did this a few years ago with gago and higuain. Higuain regularly enjoys proving the Madrid hierarchy wrong and Jose is still a supporter but can't really justify giving Higuain his place back while benzema is in such good form.

The reason they will listen to offers is because they want to raise the cash for neymar (who incidentally Jose isn't interested in) and to lower the wage bill. Di Maria is available too which makes me wonder if Jose will make good on his promise from last year that he would quit if ramos, pepe or Higuain were sold without his approval.

Rewflo {Ed002's Note - They want the money for a Cavani bid.}

Good 3 points yesterday, I could feel the nerves all the way down here in sunny Plymouth.

If you were to look up 'Rose-tinted glasses' in the dictionary, there would be a picture of me in my Titi Camara shirt.

However, I'd like to tip my hat to young Charlie Adam. In this day and age of overpaid, footballing dieities it is an absolute joy to see a humble footballer. From his eagerness to 'get up early for training (at Blackpool we all got in at 10am)', through his 'I've got a smile on my face every day' and onto 'It's nice to get an assist, although maybe it was a bit of a swinger'.

He's playing alright aswell eh?

The Booter {Ed001's Note - it also must be remembered he is earning a third of the wages of Glenn Johnson!}

Doesn't Glenn mind sharing his wages with Adam? But the way he defends at times, he can't complain too much.

Rigsby. {Ed001's Note - that did make me giggle, cheers mate.}

I am slow, I apologise, I really don't get the swinger joke. Is it a football term I am not familiar with or am I just stupid?

Thanks, KickingBro

If you've ever played parks football or just football in general...You usually have a specific foot (left/right) that you feel more comfortable using right? Simply put, the term 'swinger' is when you strike(swing) the ball with your 'less' comfortable foot......hoping that you connect nicely ;) Lee YNWA
